See the further irony is:
That in using 'Mall Goth Sauron' as the take on Dark Willow over 'misogynist has character randomly killed for LULZ' it also allows for greater accountability on the one hand and for Season 7 to thematically focus on repairing all this damage in the midst of facing an enemy of shadows reliant on lies to further itself. The only way to break the Druj is the absolute Truth in a very Zoroastrian sense. Characters don't get to neatly skip past accountability for their actions, and this would spiral over into further later seasons with the essential reality that in an otherwise lower-level setting this one random girl from California is a Dark Phoenix-tier reality warper and the most powerful person on the planet, or the universe.
And the questions of how that power could and should be employed on the one hand and that Willow is essentially a Doctor Strange type who beats up Gods and Eldritch Abominations for her regular line of work where her counterparts deal with the more 'street level' crises would in turn be the logical conclusion of where the show ends. She doesn't do as much physical fighting for the same reason that Stephen Strange never uses magic to go punch the Hulk in the face, her narrative role is ultimately that of Sorceress Supreme of Earth, with literally nobody in an ancient established war anticipating that this one random ginger from California was and is the new Sorceress Supreme and that if they had had such awareness the realities are that this power would and could have taken worse forms.
Unfortunately for the world, the reality too is that it is a shy computer geek who has a not at all subtle dark side and the usual teenage anxieties and insecurities given the equivalent of being able to reliably actually do things other people might dream of but can never do.
But again as long as Dawn Summers being a good thing is a narrative convention that's established memory magic is a poor choice to show the corrupting effects of reality-warping. It's a case of 'yes as established in canon all of this is true for that one season but then they decided to retcon it, so the fans are not obligated to care about it any more than the canon does about this itself.'
#willow rosenberg#tara maclay#dawn summers#you will never convince me as long as Dawn Summers is a plot device that 'memory magic unforgivable' is anything but bad writing#it was the choice used but there are other equally toxic things that could have been done instead#the basic theme of 'very powerful person decides things for another in an abusive fashion' works just as well without it#Tara's growth arc in refusing to tolerate abuse even from the person who brought her out of her shell can stand perfectly fine#it works even better with a budding Sauron than abruptly deciding 'wholesale memory rewrites good retail unforgivable.'#killing Tara off also denies her any sense of closure or ability to get that closure with the person who does this#the entire element here with the way things went down is bad writing from Point A to point Z#and it's also easily forgotten but Tara wasn't in fact intended to be Willow's love interest#she was replacement Willow for sympathy points#her entire arc as such became Willow X Tara but it was a choice from actor chemistry#So in giving Tara a role besides 'Willow's Girlfriend' it arguably does better by her character#tara x willow#btvs#and yes yes the 'scale changes things' argument is true but only to a point#it's really no different to introduce Dawn than what Willow did#if the retail is wrong so is the wholesale and the decisions to make this that point of no return is an avoidable mistake#plus honestly imagine a Season 7 Tara going 'sweetie no' and a Season 7 Willow dealing with those consequences in real time#equally one can have Tara's cold turkey approach stick exactly as it was#and serve as her role in the time bomb because she's a product of an abusive family and not an infallible moral guide#she rightly sees the problem and at least tries to address it when nobody else did#but unfortunately her solution was pouring gasoline on the fire and then vacating the range where the fire would burn#still further between that and Willow being human enough to resent being told to take that pain and do it going it alone#there'd be plenty of reasons for a surviving Tara and Willow to spend season 7 broken up as is#Tara would not at all be wrong to be wary and not want to touch reformed Sauron with a 400 foot pole#Willow equally would resent someone whose bad advice helped create the problem and who evades any recognition thereof#good old fashioned drama with entirely human motives

IN ANOTHER UNIVERSE, I MEET MY FATHER WHEN HE IS A CHILD
〔 yeah this had no idea being as emotionally intense as it was, and for that, i will take a swig of this wine i’m drinking. a rhône red. this is based off the poem by nikita gill — and dedicated to all the girlies who relate. i love you, you are seen. 〕
˗ˏˋ i have a lot of requests in my inbox. i’ll take ages to do them because all of my time is stolen by the ceiling whom i stare at lovingly. it’s been really rough lately folks, i won’t lie.

A father and his youngest daughter. Simon and his youngest daughter. A concept so simple but also complex. The last one to need dad, the last one to be embarrassed of him, the last one to scoff after consoling kisses to her temple, the last one to say bye to him and the last one to move out. Every of his efforts landed enough for surface satisfaction, though not deep enough to reject tears over TikTok slideshows. Father quotes, embedded between photos of old and new paintings, some of animals hugging and others of people.
What if you met your father when he was a child? It said, eleven words that joined together to create a swell of pity in her stomach. The clock turned three and darkness welcomed the girlhood routine of small houred upset.
In another universe,
I meet my father
when he is a child.
Her chest hurt. She hadn’t said bye to him, too busy on the phone with her friend. Undoubtedly another teenage drama, one that lasted only an hour at best when saying goodbye could’ve taken mere seconds and lasted forever. He stood in her door frame, camouflage clad and knocking to enter.
“Bye.” She’d mumbled, now touching her shoulder at the invisible feeling of his hand. A touch that she had learned meant love from her father, his calloused fingers padding twice before pressing a kiss to her cheek and walking out. He always closed the door behind him, a fatherhood instinct he had picked up from the years.
She viscerally pictured his youth. An image near scolded into her brain from the single photo she had seen. Stood without a smile, hand raised to bite on his nail. He was small against his older brother who looked just the same, a distant hand placed on Simon’s shoulder. It was something that she thought about often, about how even in his childhood she hadn’t seen one smile.
It was telling.
We play catch in the woods
and as we play he tells me
he isn’t allowed to cry
but sometimes the world
hurts him and he doesn’t know
what to do with all that pain.
One tear fell. She could hear the young voice, something so untainted but so far from happiness. A nonchalance sprouted from a young age, said with a shrug and a wide eyed stare — something like an animal in headlights. Her own childhood easily caught up to his, passing him by without a look back. The boy dropped his arm and watched her walk by, dark circles made home under his eyes and the bruises on his arms harbored, making their place known for years to come.
So I give him the shoulder he needs to cry on.
And he does. He does
Until the tears are done.
Her lip tasted salty, one or two more tears dropping for the thought of her father at her age. Still and silent, an observant soul with a foul temper. One tested more than he would’ve hoped or had energy for — if not his father, then school peers, finding joy in persistent teasing for his solemn stares and aggressive responses.
It was something he had carried to adulthood, to parenthood. Dropping the bag of trauma at the door and doing his best to avoid the handle, locking the door and throwing away the key to avoid stepping near or on anything delicate. Anything that could set him off, for anger and upset had been merged into one. Because it wasn’t right to be emotional, it wasn’t right to cry or show visible turmoil because that’s not what men were like was it? Nevermind a five, nine, twelve or sixteen year old boy.
Tears were the crime, anger was the fine. Even now, his rare despair came laced with anger and she couldn’t help in finding similarities to herself. She was her fathers’ daughter. Her smile, her eyes and her cry. Silent. Her ears went red the same way his did, her pitch raised when on the defence and her tears came at night when no one was around to see them.
Like now.
As she lay in bed, wiping tear-stained cheeks in a house bought from what was ultimately Simon’s life. Every deployment it seemed far fetched to assume he wouldn’t come back, though it was easy to forget the very real possibility. His texts kept her mind from wandering too far, a simple text of good morning or night. Something he knew was reassuring, because as much as she was his daughter he was also her father.
Afterwards, I buy him ice cream
and I listen to his laugh,
the glowing warm laugh
of a child who knows he is safe.
Isn’t it weird how you can feel it in your chest and stomach when something really hurts your feelings? A sinking feeling, one that you can’t seem to shake until your head decides to alleviate you of the weight. Her head spun at the thought, her father as a child and this continuous feeling — something that happened so often he almost found comfort in it.
Familiarity runs a person. It’s undeniable, anything merely familiar is a driving point for the average individual. Though it was easy to forget the definition was different for everyone. For some, it was being born into a burning house with spits of fire. The inclination to find a human equivalent of petrol just to start a riot, finding home in forever arguments and turbulence. Simon was scared that’s what he would create, a lineage of trauma and anger.
But he hadn’t. Not to the extent he was worried for anyway, instead, his girls were extended parts of the warmth he feared yet craved so deeply. The feeling of safety was a necessity growing up, it’s grounding — something he wasn’t a party of privilege to and it made his daughter sob.
It made her sob how his hugs were forever tainted by his childhood. A fear to hold both arms tight in favor of a one armed distancing method, one that was abolished when drunk and she received his longing. Constant drunken smiles, laughs, hugs and words of affirmation. Her phone was pulled from the bedside table, scrolling to find his contact and phoning him without a second thought.
It was even later where he was, but still the phone barely had a chance to ring once before he had answered. “Hi, you alright?” Voice hoarse from sleep, forever in concern.
She imagined him sitting on the edge of the bed, rubbing at his eyes with a mighty frown across his brow. One that would soften as she began to cry down the line, “I feel bad I didn’t say bye to you.”
“You did.” He’d almost laugh instantly, his own attempt to lift her up from thousands of miles away. “Don’t cry over it.” A pause. “It’s late where you are, eh?” The creak of his bed sounded over the phone and she knew he was getting up to start his day rather than go back to sleep.
I wish someone could
have done that for him.
She hated it. The way he would throw emotion away by retreating to his room for days after coming home. It was something she hadn’t paid any attention to being younger, but the older she got, and the older he got, it became obvious. The undeniable anxiety in his shaky hands, all pent up worry from being so still on the field releasing. He couldn’t hold a mug for days, growing red faced out of frustration and subsequent embarrassment over the inability to do something so simple.
“Are you alright dad?” She’d ask, watching from the threshold as he clinked the ceramic against the counter — a crass sound filling the room and then his puff of anger. The tea spilled across the surface, his fist encouraging the flow with a thump against the marble. “I’ll get it.” Voice quiet, wary eyes catching his own.
His jaw tightened at her presence, pushing both hands up through his hair and down to rub his face. “No, it’s—” He cut himself off with a timely blink. “Sorry.” He motioned to the spillage, taking steps backward to lean against the surface behind him, instantly zoning out.
Sometimes he wanted to cry.
But it didn’t ever happen.
Been a kind, safe place
for the child he used to be.
Would it have made a difference?
Would it have made a difference?
The worst feeling in the world was that of neglect. The feeling of loving someone so hard, on your knees in front of them begging for them to love you back, and yet, only receiving a familiar feeling of disappointment running cold in your veins. Nothing but abuse and torment, the pining for warmth becoming redundant against each icy spit. It was worse coming from someone you looked up to. Anyone from a friend to a sister and a brother. But worst of all. A parent.
Because there was something devastating about the lack of parental love for a youth. Those key years are knocked for six by the physical blows and emotional hits. It shapes you. Molds each crevice in your brain to whatever badness it feels, manifesting in forms of wrathful anger or complete silence, a primal human instinct to protect yourself.
Not that it ever worked.
It never does.
Instead, it works in tandem with the abuser. Silence aiding an escalation of the inevitable. But one or two hits isn’t so bad, right? The purpling of your cheekbones feels like home and it’s not something you can ever leave.
Simon recognised that from a young age.
And if the tears hadn’t been beaten out of him and he was able, he would’ve cried. Ten years old, yet his tears had already run out.
But would it have made a difference?

disclaimer: yes, I am complaining about cheating in media. Because, yes, writers have the freedom to create what they want but if the morality in creation is free for all forms of media, but no piece of art is exempt from criticism, and that includes criticism on personal moral grounds. I betcha if I said Harry Potter is good, actually, everyone on here would flood my blog telling me I am wrong because of the author's intense prejudice. That being said, I am criticizing cheating in fiction, If you don't like that, don't interact
So often lately I see period dramas where the husband cheats on the wife (ex. Poldark, The Essex Serpent, Queen Charlotte, The Great)...and not only do I despise the cheating trope with every fibre of my being to where I get panic attacks when I consume the media...but specifically with period dramas...
Do these writers not understand the greater implications of a husband cheating on a wife during these periods? More than just the humiliation and heartbreak in the case of a loving, good marriage just like it is today.
In the Western world, probably until certain laws were enacted in the 1900's, if a woman married a man, she was legally his property. She had no legal identity under him. She was financially dependent on him. Any wages she made would automatically go to her husband. Her children were also not legally her children- they belonged to the father. If the husband died, even if the wife was still alive, the children were legally considered orphans.
Women could only rarely gain a divorce from their husbands. In England in the mid-1800's specifically, if a wife divorced a husband she had to prove he had to not only cheat but also be physically abusive, incestuous, or commit bestiality. On the other hand, a husband could divorce a wife just for being unfaithful. Because, kids, there were sexual double standards.
Getting married was often the endgame for a lot of women during that time. Sometimes you couldn't make your own living enough- marriage was a way to secure your entire future financially, with more than enough money to get by. If you were a spinster and middle class, you could get by with a job. But if you are an upper-class lady, the one thing a lady does not do is get a job and work. So upper-class spinsters basically were dependent on their families to get by (ex. Anne Elliott in Persuasion faces this with her own toxic family). As strange as it sounded today, marriage gave them some freedom to go about since a husband could be persuaded sometimes more easily than a father and one had a different home, their servants, etc. A husband was your foundation entirely for being a part of society, and standing up as your own woman.
So if a husband cheated on a wife, that was a threat to take all of that away.
He could give a lot of money that could be used to support his wife and children to the mistress. He could completely abandon said wife for the mistress. And since the wife legally couldn't get a job as he still lived, she would be dependent on any money he would said- and that is IF he sent over any money.
He could take her to court and publicly humiliate her to get a divorce away from her (look up the separation of Charles and Kate Dickens, he would call her mentally ill and say her cooking was bad and that she was having more children than they could keep up with all while having an affair and divorcing her to be with the misteress). And even if the wife was the nicest, more proper, goodest, more rule-abiding never-keeping-a-toe-out-of-line lady in town...as a man, the law was default on his side (look up Caroline Norton's A Letter to the Queen which details exactly that, the poor woman had her earnings as a writer taken by her husband and was denied access to her children from said husband)
So yeah...even if there was "no love" between them (and anytime the wife is portrayed as too boring or too bitchy so He HaS tO cHeAt is brought up is...pretty victim blamey)
So yeah. Period drama writers, if you have the husband have an affair ...just consider the reality of these things and address them, maybe punish the husband for once (*gasp* men facing consequences for their actions?!?!!), and if not, just please find other options and other tropes and devices for once.

This is the post that I mentioned in my previous ask, if you still want to take a crack at it.
And this is the reblog.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OP put in a few picture from the comic which I haven't put here, but I'm sure you could guess which ones they are.
Sigh. The thing about this "Oh, they assumed she was dangerous because stigmatization of mental illness, they didn't ask her who she was seeing, blah blah" argument is that they don't assume she is dangerous because she is seeing things or acting irrationally or exhibiting signs of mental illness. They assume she is dangerous because she has attacked them in the past and continues to do so, and is the defeated princess of an imperialist nation who tried to commit genocide. Her entire worldview makes her dangerous. There's no reason for them to stop and consider that Azula's behavior is out of the ordinary because to them, it isn't. The idea that people who Azula has personally victimized need to stop and ask her why she's trying to kill them and should be blamed for not doing that is ridiculous.
I actually do find the depiction of mental illness in this comic distasteful, but that's because it's unnecessary as an explanation for Azula's violence, not because a person with mentall illness is being wrongfully depicted as violent. That's also why no one asks her what's going on, because they already know why she might want to kill them. Her whole motivation in this comic could have been easily explained without any of the mentall illness stuff. I can believe she might want to kill Ursa, who she has fixated on as the source of all of her problems in lieu of admitting that her father was at fault, without the hallucinations. In fact, it diminishes the compelling story of the family drama and Azula's feelings of resentment towards her mother to have Ursa show up as a hallucination that torments her because then it makes the conflict about her mentall illness instead of her actual relationship with her mother. Nobody asks Azula what is going on with her because none of her behavior in this comic is surprising. She was always mean, vicious, cruel, violent, and manipulative and that hasn't changed, except she's maybe crueler and sloppier, but that comes from being in a diminished position that she resents being in. These people act like Azula was a nice, happy person before being put in the asylum who has no reason to feel resentment towards the gaang so it must be that she was abused. Of course she is angry and hateful and not getting better, she's a cruel, arrogant person who was taken down from the privileged position from which she lived most of her life and not allowed to get away with being cruel and arrogant anymore, and she hates that.
There is also NO proof she was in a straight jacket "24/7" and these people state it like it's a fact. It's not. It's not even implied. We see Azula in one when she's in the company of people she wants to hurt, and one other patient in the background who is also being transported in the open. I don't give a shit about whatever "realism" people want to try to apply, this is a fantasy cartoon and it's ridiculous to apply realism to ATLA's concept of chi blocking, not to mention that Azula can create fire with her hands, which, you know, might factor in to why she is in a straight jacket to begin with.
She also did not get chi blocked "for no reason." She got chi blocked because she hit Zuko with the tea tray he gave her because he was trying to be kind to her. She attacked the Fire Lord. Even so, Zuko protests, because he wants to help his sister even at risk to himself, but Ty Lee sure has ample reason to want to protect herself and the people around her from Azula, and also says in the comic that she is still afraid of her. And how does Azula respond to her former friend? Does she say "Ty Lee, my dear friend, how could you do this to me?" Nope. Instead she wants to know how Ty Lee "lost her fear" of Azula. Wow, what a nice person and great friend who does not deserve such treatment! I know, I know, the stans will say this is Yang "demonizing" Azula and isn't what the "real" Azula would do, but then point to other things Yang wrote as one hundred percent canon and evidence of abuse. Guess it's only canon if you can make it look like Azula is a victim, huh? They probably might also try to play the mental illness card here to explain Azula's attitude toward her friend, except Azula treated Ty Lee with the same dismissiveness and controlling behavior always.
And lol, how does Ozai have better conditions? Maybe Ozai is being abused offscreen just like they think Azula is? Something also tells me that if Azula had her bending taken away and was imprisoned and shown to look as bedraggled as Ozai, these same people would be foaming at the mouth about the "abusive" conditions.
Azula also wanted to commit genocide in the Earth Kingdom, had no intention of stopping the war, and cheered about Zuko being burned and made fun of his scar twice. It's also ridiculous to act like Azula is getting unfairly punished for being "crazy" in comparison to freaking Ozai, because homeboy is characterized as pretty off his rocker and nobody even suggests that he needs any mental help. And Zhao? Are you serious? Are we saying Zhao is characterized as sane and not made fun of by the show for it? We're also not gonna argue about how Azula "didn't do anything worse" than Zuko or Iroh again, because the key, once again, is that they stopped trying to hurt people and Azula did not.
I can think of a few women in media who are similar to Azula, in that they become abusers because of being abused by male relatives, and tbh, I'm tired of seeing tumblr go to bat for abusers and try and call it feminism. Trying to compare this to women being abused in real life is actually disgusting.
Also lololol at the first "evidence" of the abuse in the asylum being that Azula complained sarcastically about the food! She's a princess of a powerful nation who is used to having servants do everything for her and she hates the asylum in general because she does not want to be there, thinks there is nothing wrong with her, and resents having to face consequences for her crimes. Even if the food were less than what she might be used to as a princess, that's hardly evidence for abuse and the attempts at appeal to authority OP makes are laughable. But it's hardly surprising that Azula would complain about anything given to her in the institution, since she resents being there.
Again on the point about straight jackets, even if this wasn't a ridiculous overanalysis of a few panels, it's still trying to make real world comparisons to a fantasy setting and a villain who can create fire with her hands. There are obvious reasons why Azula is restrained so comparing this to real cases of abuse is hugely trivializing the real world issue of the abuse of mentally ill patients.
I also really dislike the way these people always argue that Azula did the other patients such a favor by breaking them out, when the panel where she says this is this one:
Tumblr media
Where she's talking about how much these women owe her because she broke them out and so they have to do her bidding. She's emotionally manipulating and using a group of women who probably had nowhere else to go. This isn't evidence of how horrible the asylum is, it's evidence that Azula is still the same manipulative person who is willing to blackmail others into doing her dirty work. You want to talk about abuse of the mentally ill? Maybe we should talk about this.
I also don't wanna hear that shit about Zuko "projecting his negative feelings towards Ozai onto Azula." Zuko has good reason to feel negatively towards Azula for the ways she treated him and the ways she sided with Ozai against him and continues to do so. These people do not get to talk about abuse and then say things that callous and dense.

I read chapter 9 and it was amazing 👏 🤩 I wanted to ask something did Kat ever feel bad about about what she did ? Did she ever really care for reader ? And are you going to introduce the ex into the story or nah thank you for such an amazing story take care ~~~
This is for {Unwanted Soul} , check MASTERLIST for the work
Thank you~!
K~ This ask is separated by the two characters that is the bane of Reader's/your existent. In this story, of course~
1) Did Kat ever feel bad about what she did? Did she ever really care for reader?
Her? Feel bad? No. Kat's character is rooted in deep envy and hatred for you. As you may recall, you are from a family with high expectations for you, it's implied that while you weren't from a wealthy millionaire family, you were well-provided and have class to some degree. Kat's family is broken, her parents were divorced and she lives with a mother that was already working to keep the family alive and well. Kat didn't suffer from abuse of any kind, I'll note, her mother was caring to her but she can't understand it cause her mother's presence wasn't there when she needs it. Then she met you. You two can't remember how you bonded or who started it first, but it just happened and you two were inseparable. At first, Kat was content with the friendship. But soon came the envy as the two of you grew and matured. You were more popular compared to her, and you were more liked, like you hold people's interest and attention easily while she was like a wallflower. She saw you as having everything she doesn't and wants. She never spared the time to see how much you were hurting because with her you were being your carefree and happy self. So she grew manipulative and used that close friendship to get more than she should. It started small with you bringing her snacks and drinks, then meals when you were the one who asked for dinner out, later that was items she fancies as a birthday present. Soon it got normal to you and since you let it happen, she continued. When you raved about a novel you want to publish to earn the extra cash to 'get away from your parents' expectations', she saw this as her chance to make a name for herself. You have your high-paying whatever job anyways, you can spare her this. So she just took it and published it in her name without regret. She keeps up with the friendship to get more out of you, there wasn't any genuineness in your time with her after she started using you and manipulating you with gaslight.
2) Am I going to introduce the ex into the story or nah?
As I said in my note and comments (in part 9), the ex was in my plot to add into the story. Why I say I might end this series is because it looks like it's getting a bit too long and I'm not sure where I'm heading with the ending. I think you guys can wait for part 10 to see if you want the last arc (where the ex is introduced and Vox's advances towards you will create drama) to be written. So my answer is, it depends on if you guys want to read that. Though I'll be bouncing between other series or stories before I get back to that arc. All in all, check part 10 when it's out and see if you want it. Depending on your notes for that, I'll decide if there's no solid answer.

Snape Fandom Love-Hate Spectrum
& Definitions
An attempt at by Snape fans. Compiled by @ottogatto & @latineslytherin. Made in mid-2023. Note that definitions can shift overtime and are flexible.
We thought it would be useful for the Snapedom, especially those new and those old, to have a brief overview of the terms used within Snapedom to refer to each other and those we interact with on the daily. As well as to chart the various kinds of fans of Snape. And yes, this includes those who don't like or even hate Snape. Because that means you are interacting with Snape as a concept/character. :)
Tumblr media
Snape Antis: Snaters who vehemently attack and harass Snape fans whenever they see them, even hunting them down. They repeatedly declare that Snape is the most evil character of HP, that he is unredeemable and that anyone who likes him or, worse, sees anything positive about him, is a horrible human being. They have declared some sort of crusade to crush down any Snape-positive content, often with repetitive slander, and to bully Snape fans, going as far as spamming their inbox, calling them all sorts of names such as Nazi, pedo or abuse apologist, sending them death threats or suicide baits, invading Snape-positive/neutral spaces and engaging in mass-harassment of Snape fans with their followers and mutuals.
Snaters (portemanteau of Snape + Hater): people who hate or dislike Snape as well as the fans, sometimes making it a personality trait. Though they haven’t declared a crusade on Snape fans, they easily engage in Snape slander and bully Snape fans. Nowadays, a significant part of Snaters consist of Marauder fans that have created a Marauder-centered universe meant to be different from canon HP material, and in which Snape is where the line is drawn in terms of evilness and redeemability. Though they don’t target Snape fans as much as Antis, they are hostile to Snape-positive/neutral content, including from other Marauder fans and mutuals.
Snopers (portemanteau of Snape + Nope): people who dislike Snape or even hate him, but do not hate Snape fans. It is important to distinguish them from Snaters. Snopers understand that people have different tastes, remain cordial, respect fandom etiquette, avoid drama or clashes with Snape fans, and can be on very nice terms with them. The term includes people who acknowledge that the Snape they dislike/hate was made-up by Marauder stans in their fandom, and not so much the canon Snape. As such, they can actually appreciate some traits of the canon version. They may post content that is hateful against the character, but they tend to do it with far less frequency or radicality, while spacing it with ambiguous content about him. If they do post hateful content, they pay attention to not make Snape fans uncomfortable, either by avoiding interactions with them or specifying that they just have a different opinion/interpretation of him and do not pretend to shame fans.
Snape Wife: a term that has different meanings depending on the era of Snape Wife. Initially, and before the height of the Snape Wife cult, Snape Wifes were "possessive" of him and didn't like other people self-shipping with Snape. The old Snape Wives have died out in favor of more reasonable ones in the modern era, though they may remain a little too ardent in their love of Snape. There remain very few of them.
Snapewife (pejorative): misogynistic-grounded insult thrown against anyone who likes Snape, with the intent to bring up the history of a Snape-centered, female-led cult in order to humiliate Snape fans (whether Snape Wives or not). Some Snape fans have reclaimed that insult for satire.
Snapeists: members of the cult of Snape that rose up after the Deathly Hallows Book release, but more extreme than Snape Wives. They were more welcoming to other Snape self-shippers and Snape-Shifters (people who believed they "astral projected" to be with Snape, or had their husbands "embody" Snape).
Sneutrals (portemanteau of Snape + Neutral): people who have a mixed opinion about Snape, or remain indecisive, or are indifferent about him. More often than not, they roll their eyes at fandom drama and refuse to engage with it.
Snickers (portmanteau of Snape + Liker, made into Snickers for the candy bar pun): people who enjoy Snape as a character, but aren't super into him either, and aren't creating much Snape-focused content. They easily acknowledge his flaws and failures. They can appreciate Snape’s qualities more than they dislike his flaws, or they can like him especially because of his darker side. They won't turn down a story that includes Snape, though they may be dismayed/discontented if it has a grossly caricatured portrayal of him (either positive or negative).
Snovers (portmanteau of Snape + Lover and Snover Pokemon pun): common run of the mill Snape fans, who enjoy his multifaceted aspects, his negative and positive sides. They don’t deny that Snape did bad things and have an attitude of explaining why he did them without excusing him. They greatly appreciate Snape because he has a grim personality. However, they have a harder time openly saying or conceding that Snape was mean or did horrible things, since enough Snaters and Antis constantly make Snape-hostile “reminders”, and they don’t want to either inadvertently attract Haters and Antis onto their posts or make other Snape fans uncomfortable.
Snape Stans: Snape fans who turn rabid if you even remotely suggest that Snape has even one negative quality, and may purposefully hunt down Snape-hostile people/content to crush them down. They may include people who can't stand anything negative said about him because of bad experiences by Snaters and Snape Antis.
These terms, while not indicated on the graph, are more for general use.
Snape Defenders (not included in the graph): people who, in response to large amounts of Snape slander by Snaters and Antis as well as the increase in Snape-fan bullying, have decided to dedicate part of their fandom experience into defending both Snape and the fans, often by citing canon material, providing deep analyses, pointing out double standards, and sabotaging direct attacks against fans. Though it isn’t their goal to bully Snaters and Antis, as they are allegedly fighting against harassment inside the fandom, some can engage in borderline bullying tactics for efficacy and revenge. Note that theoretically, someone who hates Snape and/or dislikes his fans could defend him and his fanbase, on the basis that no one should be bullied for the fictional character they love, and on the sentiment that if one hates Snape, they must at least hate him for the right reasons or acknowledge they aren’t truly hating the character but rather an OC.
Snape Criticals (not included in the graph): people who make a point of not falling into caricatures, biases or misconceptions of either side of the Snape love-hate spectrum, and readily mention that Snape has done wrong things and has been horrible in his life, while refusing outright slander as well. The term can encompass people who like, dislike, are neutral or ambiguous about Snape, though it cannot include the extremes. They are more likely to have issues with the larger HP fanbase, though they mostly remain in their own spaces rather than seek out fandom spaces in an attempt to correct fans or haters.
Snape Apologist (not included in the graph): insult created and largely used by Snaters and Antis against those who like or sympathize with Snape, as well as those who refuse Snape slander or even remotely defend him, in such a way that it sounds like “rape apologist”. By “Snape apologists”, Snaters and Antis accuse fans/neutrals/criticals of thinking that Snape is perfect, has never done anything wrong in his life, that everything he did was justified or can be excused away. The term has been reclaimed by the fans, who use it more or less ironically, sometimes contracting it into “Snapologist”. “Tobias Snape apologist” is a light-hearted variant used by and for those who want to give Tobias Snape (Severus Snape’s father) a sympathetic backstory.

World of Warcraft is... nnnnnot the best medium in which to tell nuanced and morally complex character dramas, but setting aside all that, Garrosh Hellscream is a surprisingly decent depiction of a Specific Type Of Guy.
A young man who suffers from depression and misplaced shame, who feels that he is not supported by those around him, who then discovers an ideology that gives him a sense of pride and purpose, at the expense of fueling his anger and resentment of entire groups he now considers to be "beneath" him. He is then given a position of power that he is woefully underprepared for and increasingly abuses it to suppress his own insecurities. He is a scarily realistic antagonist who could have so very easily taken a different path. He is a tragic villain, a disaster created by both circumstance and by choice.
And then you look at the fandom, where half the people saw him as an arrogant snot-nosed brat right from the start, and the other half unironically insists that his "True Horde" fascism and orc supremacy are Based
Worst part is, I understand why the fandom discourse around him is so heated, because that Specific Type Of Guy is one that, unfortunately, is regularly encountered in the Warcraft community

I'm just gonna be in your message box 24/7 here's more content. another post saying all hook does it commit atrocities against the charmings (i.e. killing david's father, though that plot was kinda stupid and created unecessary drama) never apologizes, and does the bare minimum to make up for it and shouldn't deserve the forgiveness they give him but then that user turns around and stans zelena and regina....2 people who have committed WORSE against the charmings, make it make sense????
I can't make it make sense because this is just another example of fandom hypocrisy and double standards. Regina is allowed to get away with everything because that is what the show taught her fans and they gobble it down without question. They've turned Regina into this ultimate victim so they can wash away her sins when in reality she was the ultimate villain and Killian Jones had a worse childhood than she did.
The only thing KILLIAN JONES did to the Charmings was kill David's father and he didn't even know until years after meeting the Charmings that it was David's father. So this act wasn't targeted against the Charmings. And what did he do? He felt remorse, shame, guilt and he apologized. Hell, Killian sacrificed himself and let himself be tortured because he was guilty over what he'd done while CURSED WITH DARKNESS. So this lie that Killian has committed atrocities against the Charmings and done the bare minimum is bull shit. Torture is not the bare minimum. Dying is not the bare minimum. HE DIED. Hello. That's the greatest sacrifice you can make.
Regina purposefully murdered Snow's father and she doesn't care. Regina doesn't even care that she ruined Emma's childhood, ruined the Charmings chances of being parents to Emma, tortured Snow's people, took everything from her and she doesn't care that she tried to murder them several times in Storybook and took Graham from Emma. This was targeted against the Charmings. And she was never cursed with darkness. In fact, Regina admits she doesn't regret anything of what she did because it got her what she wanted! It is actually REGINA who did the bare minimum and was allowed to pal around with her victims while they catered to her every need and she continued to be a snarky bully. Regina didn't die for them. Regina didn't let herself be tortured to protect them. In fact, she let the Charmings sacrifice for her AGAIN in Season 6!
The Charmings forgave Regina right after attempting to murder them and right after Regina admits she doesn't regret what she did to them. Make THAT make sense, please. It blows my mind, honestly. Because it is quite clear that the only reasons she's doing what she's doing is to get what she wants and not because she cares about them. And because the show wanted a redeemed evil queen without losing the evil queen... it was stupid to those of us that have brains.
It took the Charmings 3 seasons to trust Killian which was absolutely idiotic once they saw him die and be tortured for them. And again, he did not commit worse atrocities than Regina. So this idea that Killian was easily forgiven is hogwash. Regina was easily forgiven.
I actually have no beef with Zelena because at least the show didn't parade her around as a hero while simply telling the audience that she was redeemed like they did with Regina. They literally just said "ok Regina is good now because she wants to be Henry's mother but we're not going to mention all of the child abuse he just really trusts her now and so does everyone else k?"
But it is ridiculous to hold things against Killian when your faves have done so much worse. At least Killian has showed remorse, apologized and actually sacrificed for them. Regina did squat. Hell, Zelena did more than Regina when Zelena gave up her magic!

muffinsposting on main!?!?!?!??
so i'm a pretty longtime fan of the My Little Pony grimdark fanfic 'Muffins' (by an author i will not name for drama-related reasons. you can easily find it if you look it up, but i ask that you please do not discuss any drama related to them on this post), and i really like the character of Minkie Pie. in the story, she's Pinkie Pie's eldest sister, along with Inkie Pie and Blinkie Pie (maud doesn't exist rip maud). Minkie is her long lost sister who was trapped in a cellar since she was a filly and thus never developed a proper childhood. she's a very quiet and creepy mare who has a lot of passion for endgaming other ponies in the most overly violent ways possible. she has a very pretty design and i've always liked how creepy and timid she is.
she's always been a favourite of mine, but because of the fanfic's poor writing and general issues with Minkie's original character, people have been creating rewrites and redesigns and i thought i should make my own as well! i haven't gotten to properly drawing her yet, but here is a rough sketch of my Minkie redesign, 'Moonstone Pie'!!
Tumblr media
this is Moonstone! she's a tall, slim earth pony who is very shy, timid and lacks a lot of crucial social skills. she bears a lot of religious trauma on her shoulders and has issues with properly trusting other ponies, but she's a really sweet pony once she feels like she can trust someone. she's named after a real rock of the same name, similar to how Minkie's birth name is Obsidian. i haven't gotten her special talent and stuff figured out yet since i've been mainly working on her design and backstory, but here she is :) i'm really proud of her and i'm really excited to develop her more as a character!!
her proper appearance is as follows:
Hide: a dark blue-grey sort of colour, with a white fade at her hooves. the sketch doesn't reflect it but Moonstone has peculiar black and white splotches on her fur all down her back that make her look like the night sky.
Mane: a very very dark purple that looks black in the dark. it's very long and straight, with a long fringe covering her left eye. one side of her mane and her tail are tied with thin black ribbons.
Eyes: her eyes are green, but change depending on what point of the story she's in. for example, when she was a child, her eyes were a bright Applejack-green to symbolise her innocence, but after being rescued from the cellar, they are faded and hollow.
Cutie Mark: a black key with a bow in the shape of two wings. this symbolises freedom and being able to unlock herself and fly free from her trauma.
Accessories: black ribbons that are tied to her hair and also hang loosely in it. she also wears a white dress collar.
her rough backstory is under the cut, though i'd like to give a warning that there are (albeit brief) mentions of religious trauma and parental abuse, as well as it being pretty dark. if that makes you uncomfortable, you don't have to read it and you're free to click off and go look at something nice and wholesome!! please take care of yourself :)
i don't have too much of her backstory done yet, so this is mainly a draft, but basically, Moonstone was raised in a cult that's something like The Family International and Jehovah's Witnesses put together. her parents, Cloudy Quartz and Igneous Rock, were very strict with her and would often enact bizarre punishments several incidents related to Moonstone's behaviour occurred, to which her mother, Cloudy Quartz (Pinkie's canonical mother), deemed her a devil and shunned her away into a cellar, where she would spend a majority of her life up until Cloudy "mysteriously disappears" one day.
Moonstone, having been heavily traumatised and weakened from being neglected in the cellar for so many years, is in a state of near-death and delirium. just when it seems like Moonstone is about to kick the bucket, the door opens, and she sees two figures obscured by the sunlight standing at the top of the stairs. she thinks these are angels coming to take her to salvation, but they are actually her sisters Inkie and Blinkie, who just before had literally sent Cloudy plummeting off a cliff until she went splat. Moonstone faints, and after a couple comatose weeks, is introduced into a new "family" run by Pinkie, Inkie, Blinkie and their newest victim recruit, Derpy Hooves. little does Moonstone know, however, is that she has just been dragged into another cult, one that takes ponies and turns them into baked goods in a not-so-cheery way. she basically gets indoctrinated again by ponies who are close to her and manipulate her by giving her a loving family and a stable place to stay. i want to portray Pinkie's baking group as something that's way more sinister than it's portrayed in the original Muffins because i feel like it doesn't address the mental strain it has on the bakers as much as it probably would be. the baker's cult portray themselves as a happy-go-lucky batch of bakers who love each other, but there's really a shitton of distrust and fear between the members of the cult. Moonstone and Derpy later realise this, and agree to escape together as newfound adopted sisters. this is a story about colourful horses by the way- 💀
at the end of the story, her and Derpy end up escaping, and this is when Moonstone finally gets her cutie mark; a key with a pair of wings symbolising her newfound freedom. OG Minkie's cutie mark is a lock, but i didn't really like the message that it represented and felt it didn't make that much sense for Minkie's character, and the concept of a pony getting their cutie mark late is interesting, so Moonstone gets a cutie mark that represents her destiny to finally break free and unlock her true self :)
Tumblr media
and that's pretty much Moonstone's character! i'll probably make a proper colour palette for her in the future and i'll see how her character goes if i develop her further. this post isn't confirmation that i'm definitely doing a Muffins rewrite, but i thought giving a different twist on Minkie's character while trying to stay true to the original would be interesting and fun.
a couple other facts about Moonstone:
the ribbons in her hair change colours based on her state in the story. for example, when she was a little kid, her ribbons were white to symbolise her innocence. she later wears black when Moonstone got dragged into the baking cult to symbolise her further dwindling mental state and the horrible situation she was in, basically symbolising how she became a harbinger of death and agony. and at the end, she wears white again to symbolise her newfound freedom and a hope to regain her innocence and happiness now that she is truly free. they also become more flowy when she's wearing white, rather than the viney swirl down her hair when she wears black.
i was originally gonna have Moonstone's cutie mark be something like a wing in chains or a ball of light breaking through black chains, but they felt a little too on the nose. i do like the light breaking through chains idea though :)
thanks for reading all this way :) as mentioned before, please do not use this post to discuss any drama relating to the original author in the replies or reblogs. please also refrain from mentioning the name of the author as well as i fear it would just stir things up. i don't want my blog to become a place of drama, i just want to share my silly little ideas about creepy girl horse :P

a few things about gemini men
they’re fuckboys for a reason
you have to get both twins to agree to things
the vast majority have mental issues; these are some psychologically mind fucked men.
they play mind games with you, loving you one minute and ignoring you the other minute, but when you decided to pay their wacky asses dust, they go around talking about how you're "messing up their mind".
they're like scorpios in the sense that they expect someone to just sit there and take all the abuse and psychological warfare they are so happy and gleeful to dish out; if you decide to walk away from their bullshit they act like you're HURTING THEM!!
also like scorpios, these men can dish it but can't take it when it comes to words or their own fucked up behaviour. this is one of the reasons why i like scorpios with geminis; they're crazy and damaged enough to understand each other on a deep level
even more than fire sign men, they need excitement and they like women to act crazy over them. if you're normal (sane) and not being crazy they will drum up some drama/excitement. they create the chaos and love the mental stimulation that comes from it but on the other hand they can't handle the emotional stuff that also comes.
they're deeply insecure and easily triggered by anything that threatens his ego. passive aggressive and loves mind games. they love to see women bothered.
best match for a gemini man is an emotionally detached woman that's clingy but not needy (scorpios).
gemini men don’t want healthy relationships. they want some one they can control and manipulate through what I call “future faking” or love bombing. their tactics aren’t even that advanced if you know how to also play the game. bunch of children.
they never rely on themselves for stimulation. like they're needy as fuck but you never realize because they're on the go, they need social interaction. it's odd.
all they do is project that very insecurity with all their jealous, criticism, baiting, mind games, disrespect, wishy-washy games and immaturity.
unless you wanna play their games, it’s almost impossible to remain with one. it gets tiring!!
the only couples I know that lasted with a gemini man is if they’re super old and the gemini is too tired to play those games OR the partner is a gemini female.
went out with one and he was a bitch (even more than virgos are), constantly nit picked about my hair, makeup, etc...never again with gemini men. it’s always something with them.
understanding the power of silence and being emotionally detached is key when dealing with them if you choose to do so.

I have a Sun and Moon show AU, and since I likely won’t do much with it, I’m gonna copy my notes on it here in case other people like it :) (might make some art for it later idk)
I’ve had this bouncing around in my head and I need to write it down, pls bear with me
The base idea is that Lord Eclipse, an alternate version of the Eclipse who Won but never met our Moon, is extremely bored with his world and decides to spice it up. He lets go and revives many of his enemies, including Monty, and revives both Moon and Lunar. He also makes himself the Lord Supreme, basically a god king with divine right to rule, and lives in a giant palace with a full staff and Sun as his faithful advisor and attendant, placing himself as the god king of a whole new earth instead of just a city.
Backstory
Eclipse - He has the typical backstory as any Eclipse, but since Moon never visited he just kept going on with what he was doing and got bored no matter what he did. He tortured Sun over and over, he subjected his enemies to humiliation, he could control everything exactly as he wanted, but he wasn’t happy. He eventually secludes himself in a giant castle, his city expanded much more than it was before for the sake of self sustaining, and rots away and watches old entertainment from the world before. One day, he becomes inspired by watching some old period dramas to completely remake the world and become a god king - hoping people coming to overthrow him and some controlled chaos would bring him entertainment.
Over the years he also grew more fond of Sun than he would like to admit, so he decided to trust Sun as his right hand in this new world.
He revived Moon for the challenge, throwing him into the world with almost no memory for Monty to find and help him. Now Moon is a freedom fighter, working with almost every character we know and more to overthrow Eclipse, but has no memory of Sun. This leaves almost a gaping hole inside him, one which Eclipse relishes in.
He also Revived Lunar because…. He missed him. In his own twisted way he liked Lunar but also doesn’t know how to express it now so he makes Sun Lunar’s caretaker and tutor as Lunar is now the prince of this world. He has unlimited games and many lavish things, but also has to attend lessons from Sun and go out on occasion with Eclipse for royal stuff.
Sun - His memory was wiped over and over again as Eclipse toyed with him and tortured him over the years, however what he remembers now is actually close to some version of the truth.
When Eclipse first took over, he dumped Sun in his city and left him to try and survive and ruined his life whenever possible. Sun came to believe he had a curse, eventually causing him to lash out with his magic and destroy a whole block. He is horrified, breaking down in sobs, when Eclipse appears out of the smoke to take advantage of this situation.
“Are you Lord Eclipse?! I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to-“
“If you didn’t mean to, it wouldn’t have happened.” “But, it can be fixed.” Using the star, Eclipse restores the area and everyone in it. Sun is amazed.
“I can help you, come with me and I’ll make sure you don’t hurt anyone again.” Eclipse says, and Sun agrees. It’s why he put up with so much bullshit, abuse, and torture from Eclipse, along with him being ultra powerful.
Now sun remembers this, with new stitched together memories of previous versions where he gained control over his powers, came to like Eclipse as he secluded himself away from the world, and now he is the trusted advisor of Eclipse’s who takes care of the “newly created” Prince Lunar. Sun doesn’t understand why Eclipse remade the world again, expanding it much more, but he doesn’t question his Lord.
Lunar - He has little to no memory of before. Maybe nightmares or vague impressions, but nothing more. He also has much more power now, not quite at the level of Sun but strong enough to not be easily killed by anyone except Eclipse. He is very much how he was like before, only with a lot more affection for Sun as basically his one friend. He is the prince of this world, theoretically meant to succeed Eclipse (but that’s never happening) and usually only sees Eclipse during public events where he has to be present.
Moon - He has some vague memories, but doesn’t remember Sun or any specifics enough for it to matter. He’s basically this universe’s New Moon, as Eclipse didn’t want to bring back a threat as big as Killcode or for any more unexpected siblings to start running around. He was found by Monty and his ragtag group of freedom fighters, and quickly becomes an agent of this rebel group. He eventually poses and disguises himself as a servant inside the giant palace right under Eclipse’s nose.
Character
Eclipse - Currently he is just very tired and jaded, but with all the work of being god king he has something to do at least. He’s also very patient with people around him, as now he has kind of grown past his childish revenge tendencies after years and years of indulgence. He’s not a good person, but he’s less openly awful when he can to keep everything moving.
He is often busy, meaning Lunar and Sun usually spend time together and only occasionally does Lunar see Eclipse. However he is always happy to see him, and Eclipse does his best to restrain himself - he even gives Lunar candy when he’s “good” (or what Eclipse deems good.)
Sun - He’s extremely loyal to Eclipse, and sees Lunar as his own kid in many ways. He doesn’t know why, but he’s just so happy to care for someone and help teach him that he’s much more cheerful recently.
He doesn’t like any rebels though, seeing them as scum and wanting to ruin his generous Lord’s perfect world.
He’s also very skilled at ice magic, and can freeze everyone in a whole ballroom if he wanted to. He’s basically Elsa in terms of what his ice magic can do, and it’s his specialty even though he does use other forms of magic less often. He is still training and learning, but is a diligent practicer. (Subconsciously, he thinks that he needs to be ready for something. That he promised someone important he would help them, even with his difficulties with magic. He doesn’t remember who, It was someone important though.)
Lunar - Same lunar as always, very cheerful, sassy, and immature. He is very curious about the world as a whole and can’t shake an aching feeling deep in his chest, but not sure why. He is very close with Sun, seeing him as his older brother and even a parental figure in some ways, and Sun is basically his one friend in the palace aside from the employees.
Moon - He is all about Justice and recovering his old memories. He knows Sun was his brother in another world, but doesn’t really like to think about it because of how he sees Sun as Eclipse’s lackey. That is, Until Moon poses as an employee and uses a disguise to hide his notable features. He meets Sun this way, and finds over time that he’s a really nice guy and takes care of all the staff really well. They form a bond during this time, with Moon being an inside agent while hiding it and Sun being the manager and highest authority aside from Eclipse or Lunar in the castle - and they form a strong friendship over time which causes Moon to be really conflicted about overthrowing everything because he knows he’ll have to kill Sun.
Some General Ideas:
- Eclipse, completely by accident, made Sun and Moon enemies with even opposite powers. However he does love the drama when he realizes what he set up, even setting it up so Rebel Moon and Servant Sun meet at certain times when they clash - he is genuinely unaware of moon infiltrating the castle though.
- In this world animatronics/robots are just normal citizens and apart of life here. The ones who were bio-mechanical from the old timeline are still that way, but everyone else is just mechanical.
- Animatronics build their kids in this world, which is a big event for them
- The world’s government is sorted into eight regions, seven ruled over by someone Eclipse selected, with the eighth region being the largest and ruled over by Eclipse himself. Each ruler reports back to Eclipse and rule on his behalf, and have varying opinions on how happy they are about it.
- Each region has their own biome and features, but laws are the same all around.
- There are nobility, however they are elected by popular vote and only live in their estates as long as they are voted in. Eclipse knows the key to keeping power is having the masses be happy, but also he just likes those kinds of dramas and likes to peek in for some entertainment while they all think this is a super serious system.
- All of this ‘government’ is a farce though, as Eclipse is the one in charge and just lets others be in control so he can have time to relax and watch the drama unfolding from all this. He liked dramas about royalty and nobility, so he made it real to get the MAXIMUM drama whenever he can. He doesn’t care about anyone, and if any of them tried to stage a coup he would make them disintegrate right then and there.

Although I understand that the showmakers need Sand to behave in a certain way for Ray to lash out and invite Boeing so that more drama can happen but it's still not well written imo. The first time Sand sent Ray home is already a stretch because he could just easily ask Ray to give him a moment in private to speak with his friend and then continue with their evening plans which would make more sense since moments before Boeing showed up the two of them were very happy together. But how should the audience get Sands reasoning for declining to go home with Ray the second time? Sand was about to leave the bar already and he declined to let Boeing come to his place. So why tell Ray he will go home alone? Is it a punishment for Ray because he didn't listen to him and leave in the first place? Or a punishment for Ray acting jealous and stepping in while he and Boeing were staring at each other? Was Sand disappointed that Ray did not trust him enough ? From his characterization so far in the show even if Sand was disappointed he would still just follow Ray, leave Boeing there and then giving Ray a private speech in the parking lot and maybe even drive home alone. But the way Sand acts the second time is not understandable at all. So it's really frustrating to watch. On the other side some people seem to think that Ray was suggesting another threesome this time. I had to laugh because that never crossed my mind when watching the final scene for the first time. Khaotungs facial expressions were mocking at first in the bar and extremely angry in the pool. The comment about Sand getting in the water was for me "I dare you to get naked in front of him, do it and I will consider drowning both of you here". At least I think that's what the actor was supposed to show with the nonverbal acting. I guess some are just focusing on dialogue lines while watching, although for good movies and TV shows it's always a goal to "show, don't tell".
I definitely think the audience’s divisiveness is due to a problem with execution rather than content, because as you said it’s necessary to build conflict, but some of Sand’s behavior can only really be rationalized up to a certain point. Not to say that Sand is a saint who should know how to handle every situation, because that’s obviously very unrealistic. Telling Ray to go home stands out as an odd choice though, because as you said, Sand could just as easily have told him to give them a few minutes to talk instead of having him leave altogether. I understand the perspective that maybe Sand wants to keep Ray as far away from Boeing as possible lest he try to manipulate him somehow, but it was hard to get a reading on what Sand felt there. Imo, regardless of how Sand presents it, sending Ray home to have a private, unplanned conversation with Boeing just reads as dismissive, even if it is unintentional.
Regarding the second time Sand refuses to go home with Ray, I think it could be as you suggested that Sand is frustrated at Ray for sticking around, but I believe it’s more likely that Sand is falling into his classic “retreat” mentality. He’s just had yet another run-in with his ex who dated him for quite a long time and ended up leaving him for someone else (not to mention, there’s evidence elsewhere that he might’ve been emotionally abusive to Sand). I completely understand if Sand would rather be alone to process everything. The thing is, he should’ve taken Ray up on his offer to drive him home and then asked to be alone. Sand isn’t good at communication when it comes to his own pain though, so I understand why he automatically wanted to handle the situation himself and leave Ray out of whatever it is he’s feeling.
I’ve said this before but I think Ray’s threesome agenda ended with Nick. Ray has remained relatively restrained so far, but I think he’s pretty close to snapping—which is exactly what Boeing wants. For Boeing, letting Ray blow up and create conflict himself is the best way to win the game. Agreed 100% that the nonverbal cues in the end scene are the most sure sign that both Ray and Sand are not at all pleased with what’s happening.

I often mention my hopes for Hell arc GrimmNell and actually... Today I want to share some personal delusions about it.
Warning! I never liked Nnоitora as a person (his conflict with Nel is very good though) and I genuinely can't ship Nn0iNel, so yeah... pls bear with my bias
Do you remember Nelliel's fight during the Arrancar arc? Yeah, the one every Nel fan feels a little bit upset about. She had a solid reason to fight someone who hurt her family, backstabbed her and left her to die. Someone, who was intended to break her again, who abused her new friends, not to mention the general conflict of their life perspectives. But alas - Kenpachi finished Nnоitora instead.
But what if... it wasn't the end? Kubo's Hell oneshot confirmed -  even dead Arrancars can return.
Tumblr media
Take a look at Szayelaporro. The guy was crazy from the start, but Hell's influence pushed his Madness to a new level. It was heavily hinted that even the fallen captains developed a more dark personality (well, understandable why), so it wouldn't be surprising if the arrancar's aspects of deaths took completely over them.
Tumblr media
So yeah... I doubt that Nnоitora got a ticket to "Heaven", so his chances  to return as a Hell-enemy aren't out of the question. And wow, he just happened to be a perfect catalyst of GrimmNell angst.
Tumblr media
Nnоitora's Despair made him believe that there's no salvation for their kind. Nelliel was always the opposite - she was sure that they can change for better: with evolution they regain their morals and start aiming for more complex goals, not just a basic survival. Imho this part of her life perspective made her so involved with the self-destructive Espada members. As if she feels obligated to push them into the right direction.
Tumblr media
Didn't work with Nnоitora. At all. But Nel didn't give up and found herself a new problem aka Grimmjow. And wow, suddenly it didn't backfire.
I'm not going to tell the difference between Nnоitora and Grimmjow and why one was able to form a sort of a healthy bond with Nel while the other - didn't. Sure, it's an interesting topic I might one day touch again, but we are here for the Hell delusions, right?
So yeah, imagine, Nnоitora is back! And ofc he wants his revenge, he wants to break this arrogant woman again. How dare she enjoy her peaceful life! And no way... did she just replace him with this pathetic loser Grimmjow? Oh yeah, now she is so cocky: her stupid philosophy worked, she tamed a beast and turned him into her personal lapdog. Isn't it all she ever wanted?  end of pissed Nnoi's POV lol
But wait, isn't it a perfect opportunity? Using Grimmjow to crush all Nelliel's hopes and beliefs? To break her optimistic nature? What a piece of cake - after all Grimm wasn't created for peace, and Hell can easily trigger his sleeping Destruction.
Nelliel's despair would be fighting against someone she deeply cares about. She told him so many times that their aspects have no power over their decisions and yet - now she has to face it. Was she wrong? Was Nnоitora right? Were all of them the hostages of their destiny?
I think Grimmjow would be the one to answer this question. He hates to bow to anyone and he won't give in, even to himself. And maybe, just maybe he would understand Kurosaki at this moment - the source of his motivation, the powerful wish to protect someone.
Cheesy Happy Ending:
So yeah after some drama GrimmNel team up and beat Nnоitora's ass! In the end it will be Nelliel's fight with Grimmjow's assistance, because well- he understands how important it is for her to close this gestalt. And then they'll live happily ever after without a fear of losing themselves again.
P.S. We still have only crumbs about the Hell setting so pls remember this is just a big headcanon in the name of a ship angst lol.

♡♡ Cale (anon), if you were a character in a novel, I would ship you with...
'I always getting myself stuck in drama I mean I like drama but I don't want to be in it' sounds like a challenge to make drama /hj
cw slightly nsfw
nie huaisang
Tumblr media
fandom's main sweethearts — a guy who behaves like a crybaby but is the smartest bitch and a guy who teases but at the same time would rather die than step over the threshold of the house. there are so many metas about who is the main abuser in your couple and why your couple is not an abuse and there are even several posts "why does everyone call it problematic when there is nothing problematic? antis now believe that couples is obliged to tell each other only sweet things?? teasing is now an abuse???" "it's not teasing it's BULLYING it's ABUSE"
your dynamic is the most favorite for creating any content. two little blorbos in modern au who are engaged in pinning since no one takes the first step; NIE HUAISANG who needs grounding after his brother's death and he manipulates and pulls strings here and there so that you are always with him, since you are the only thing that now gives him a sense of peace and security; you is probably too fond of NIE HUAISANG and constantly teases him mixed with demands to stay at home with you, but NIE HUAISANG is fine because 'Nie Huaisang Is A Good Friend (he's not a friend)'; mermaid!NIE HUAISANG who is under your supervision and gradually falling in love; princess!NIE HUAISANG, who is very much ok with living with the dragon and no longer wants to get married and rule some state since he can stay with you. the most popular thing is that redesign of the meme 'Ariana Grande Licking a Lollipop' where NIE HUAISANG looks at you while nie mingjue looks out from around the corner. is it cursed? absolutely. just like that ship.
In any case, you would be a wonderful match! NIE HUAISANG is very loyal and adoring for his darling, but prone to long silent pinning, even if this is not what he wants, but not that losing you clumsily confessing his feelings was his desire. You won't find any problems there with your introversion or the quality of a stay-at-home -no, of course, he could try to do something, but why? Your unwillingness to meet someone else only means that the chance of you having someone undesirable is lower, which is only more profitable for NIE HUAISANG — he will indulge your introversion and avoidance of people; he himself has an extremely amazing talent to read people and understand how to interact better to achieve the desired result, and his current the ideal result is your dependence on him as the only one with whom you are socially comfortable.
Do you have any other friends? Not very well, but, fortunately, you won't immediately notice that something is wrong when they become less likely to make contact, and eventually leave you — but you have NIE HUAISANG! And he brought things that give you comfort! And he is always there, soft and warm, tolerating you and giving you peace! And he's so timid, but affectionate and tenacious, but you don't get the feeling that he's suffocating you. His penchant for drama is combined with your sense of humor; he remembered charmingly blushes when you tease him and can portray (staged) tears if he sees that you want to see it. When it comes to emotions, NIE HUAISANG is extremely labile and easily mimicking, looking at your reaction to certain actions (not planned by him at all) and checks how far it can go.
Besides, well, objectively speaking, will you meet an even bigger simp than him? Even if NIE HUAISANG looks like a timid squirrel, innocent and skittish crybaby, he is the type who can kill or be what he needs to be to get what he wants. He has problems coping on his own, often needing outside support, but when NIE HUAISANG chooses a goal, he goes to it, no matter if it's roads or someone's heads, and the fact that you are introverted saves a lot of destinies.
Fortunately, you will quickly get used to your situation — NIE HUAISANG seems like a cute sunshine that always stays with you while others leave, and even if he is clingy and sticky, reacting with delight like a puppy from any of your caresses, he always remains flexible. Especially for your reactions. NIE HUAISANG lives off emotions — yours; as soon as he sees that something causes you more momentum, he goes with it.
You may not be quite sure if you understand the situation correctly when your gentle and soft NIE HUAISANG bites you while fucking on the kitchen table with you because he wants to know something about you about your "friend" or has suspicions that you are thinking about someone else, but that's okay! Really — even when your back is scratched, and there are a few bruises on his body here and there, but not that he has anything to be ashamed of in the house with his husband; or when he squeaks while you're hammering into him after he's behaved like a brat again, provoking you, because never never never your attention is not enough, and if he can, he will force you to look at him and only at him.
mo ran
Tumblr media
problematic. so problematic. everyone looks and says that these are two gremlins biting each other, and that's true — but, apart from that, almost all the works with you contain smut, while those that do not contain just haven't received a chapter with a similar age restriction yet. however, at the same time, this is the thorn where everyone understands that it easily becomes "sharper and darker" in the same way as "lighter and lighter" and tacitly agree that yes, they are fucked up, but how!
you are so different: MO RAN is an aggressive wild extrovert, while you are just as aggressive introvert; he is chatty and bright, while you are silent and muted; after all, he is a dog, while you are a cat, — but damn him if he walks past you without catching on and not realizing that he would do anything to have a chance. MO RAN is the embodiment of 'ride or die', and if he feels an impulse, he goes, no matter how hard you push him away or try to wriggle out, because if the impulse happened, then a chemical reaction happened, and even if he is as dumb as a dog with what is happening on a carnal level, MO RAN is more than familiar.
sexual attraction is established immediately and, even if you are, well, not at all the type who is interested in sex with everyone, MO RAN is a dog who always clearly makes it clear what he wants, and, well, dogs don't treat rejection very well — and it's not about forcing (it's not that bad), but you know that if you don't get the upper hand over the dog, then the dog will get the upper hand over you, and the first stage of your relationship is exactly the period where he is looking for what command you want to give or do nothing, andadjusts in the future depending on this.
although he is an extrovert, MO RAN does not try to force you to go out, quite satisfactorily hiding you in his chest while rest in your house, next to which no one lives — not that he would mind taking his baobei to some restaurant, protecting you like a guardian, but if you do not want, then who is he like that to force you? he may be sexually aggressive, but in decisions he is always more submissive, reacting with aggression only if someone flirts with you — and, even if you are an introvert, you really better not aggravate his mental health, giving all sadistic and cruel tendencies to be outside when he eventually breaks down and knocks out (will kill you if you are not around) someone who will be too persistent.
however, MO RAN is more than good at communication! he is very good at words and can support your jokes or style, and although it will be difficult for you to embarrass him with teasing, he is sensitive to the manifestation of love and willingly wags his tail at it. dark sense of humor cannot confuse him, as well as your straightforwardness or bluntness — MO RAN himself is no better, even if at first he will say that this is obviously not the case, as if he did not specially cook spicy dishes for you for several hours just to show how good he is and say that he did not cook quite for you but since you are here, then you can taste and give him your assessment (and you yourself are no longer sure whether he is flirting or proudly showing off.)
(wow, some sweet pieces! well, he will make you a little, just in case you cry after a spicy meal or something like that, he did not think about you at all during cooking and does not want your cooking, aha...)

I just finished watching the newest My Hero Academia episode and it was so great. Studio Bones nailed it and it was even more difficult to watch in the anime than it was reading the manga when this first came out. I have some thoughts about this storyline too real quick:
I love how Horikoshi has handled the Todoroki storyline. It just keeps getting more and more complex.
It would’ve been SO easy to make Enji a complete and utter bastard through the story, but Hori chose to find ways to redeem himself without making us forget about what he did.
It’s that very thin tightrope between developing a character to make him someone you want to cheer for while also making his journey towards redemption so very difficult because his past can’t be forgotten or forgiven so easily if at all.
And though it is not their faults at all (especially Shoto), it’s so interesting to hear that every family member played a part in how Dabi was created. Rei, Fuyumi, and Natsuo all could’ve stopped Toya from becoming Dabi, but none of them knew what to say, do, or were too scared to. Shoto was literally just born into a horrible situation he didn’t know about before Toya died.
And, you can’t blame them especially in the abusive environment they lived in. Enji and his obsession were truly the cause of all the Todoroki family drama and we can’t forget that. But, second chances do exist and Horikoshi has been very careful with how he’s handled Endeavor’s.
Edit: I also want to point out that even though Enji was an abusive piece of shit, he did try to protect Toya from burning himself further. His protest against training Toya were not out of malice, but out of wanting to protect his son. Unfortunately, Toya was too far gone at that point and the fact that everyone around him was inspired by or was a Hero only pushed him further into insanity. Toya’s desperation for his father’s approval and Enji’s obsession with having a kid who could surpassed All Might could never find common ground to quell them both.
There are SO many layers to this whole family and their drama that you could write a short book on it honestly. It really proves how great of a writer Horikoshi is.

The most memorable Batman villains are, at their heart, theater kids.
Joker is literally a clown. Scarecrow is a method acting researcher. Riddler is a giant trivia lover. Two-Face is a leading man.
The problem is that the cishet male writer fears the theater kid. He does not understand the theater kid. The theater kid attracts the cishet male writer's object of affection, and easily wins their favor, but ultimately rejects the offer.
The theater kid lives for art, for drama, for passion; literally, for the motto "Be gay, do crime."
The cishet male writer does not comprehend this, because the cishet male writer does not need crime to be art. He does not need art to be messy, to be expressive, to be dangerous.
What is the point in creating art when you are told that everything you do is perfect?
And so, the cishet male writer un-sexes and de-queers the Batman villains, turning them into caricatures of themselves, in fact, remaking them in his image. Their violence has no point, their morals no standing, their crimes no art, because he cannot conceive of such things as coexisting.
And so, the clown becomes a generic killer. The actor merely repeats old abusive patterns. Violence begets violence begets violence.
There is no art, no panache, no spark.
There is no passion.
There is no queerness.
So, here's to crime!
