Had decent game last night. Few assists and some really big blocked shots. I’m feel like I’m finally getting my positioning and timing back. We did lose. We went down early and clawed our way back within 2 but we ran out of time. Overall it was a fun game and we’ll get it back next week!

I'd love to lay mechanic!Eddie back and suck the remaining energy out of him after a long day of work. Flipping him over to apply a deep pressured massage along his shoulders, back, forearms just any and every tender spot. I'd put on a incense and lather with him up with CBD lotion before I straddle and drain another orgasm out of him before I feed him and put him to bed. Definitely a dream of mine 🤭

it's a personal preference prevalent in all my major work, but i like the position of Reader taking care of the love interest better. both in smut and normal situations, i just don't connect with being the one taken care of, i guess. doesn't rev my engine. however, the reverse? man. there's just something about a hard workin' man like Eddie shuffling in the door with all his exhaustion weighing heavily on his shoulders, hardly able to step out of his boots and fall onto the couch, where it's all my pleasure to unzip his coveralls and welcome him home with my mouth, relaxing him into true relief.

In the TIL (Thematically Peripatetically) dep't
In the classic British war movie Ice Cold in Alex, one character who blames himself for a drinking problem that may have cost someone else their life declares he's not going to take another drink until he and the people fleeing across the African desert with him can sit down and have "an ice cold lager in Alex[andria]." This promise he keeps.
The interesting part lies in how the promise plays out on film.
youtube
A background issue (from the production standpoint) of what makes this scene so interesting is that it's always hard to get any scene right in just one take. There were apparently a fair number of takes on this shot.
The producers apparently tried hard to substitute something non-alcoholic for the beer, but this proved impossible, as there was no way to fake the head. So they used real beer.
John Mills, professional that he was, drank them one after another in multiple takes. As a result, co-star Sylvia Syms describes him as having been "a little heady" when they were done with that scene.
Another less problematic problem (as such things go...) was that the novel by Christopher Landon on which the film was based has the actors drinking a US beer called Rheingold... which the producers ruled out. They they felt there was no way the characters would willingly be drinking a German (or German-sounding) beer after being pursued across North Africa by the Afrika Korps. So Carlsberg was substituted.
...And it's at this point that things start to veer. @petermorwood was telling me about this, some of which I knew... but not about the Rheingold.
"Really?" I said. "You're kidding me!"
"Why?" he said.
At which point I did what any New Yorker of a certain age might very likely do under such circumstances: I burst into song. (And frankly, because you don't need to hear me doing that, here are the Golden Girls doing it.)
youtube
Rheingold was the best-selling beer in the New York metropolitan area, and apparently in New York state as well, at least partly due to numerous aggressive advertising campaigns on radio and then on TV. That jingle was known, in many permutations—including one in 6/8 time that appears in this stop-motion-animated commercial—by lots and lots of people.
Including me. So I sang it (at least some of it: I couldn't remember the final couple of stanzas) and Peter and I looked at each other in mild bemusement. "You think your mind's full of useless garbage," I said, "try mine sometime!" And we laughed and went back to whatever we'd been doing.
Out of curiosity, I then went over to YouTube to see (as I sometimes do) whether I was anywhere near the original key of the best-known version of the jingle while singing. Turns out I was pretty close. But along the line, I stumbled across the blog of a retired librarian who clued me in on something startling:
That jingle's music was ripped off, in whole cloth, from a French composer... whose authorship is apparently routinely obscured by the name of the music's (possibly better-known?) arranger.
Here it is, and apparently misattributed as above, in full classical glory: the Estudiantina Waltz. (Warning: the main chorus is a bit of an earworm, and you may not be able to get rid of it easily. I know I won't be, for the day anyway...)
youtube
...So that's the local installment of Today I Learned. May yours (if you have one) be way more useful and interesting. :)

Ever just stop and think about anime!Matt for a sec. Like what even was that lol. I don't think he is ever officially introduced as a character, nor his presence ever explained. His name is not even mentioned by anybody until he's already dead, and he doesn't even get to do any of the handful of things he did in the manga onscreen to help out. From what I remember he literally just sits by Mello silently playing a video game, drives a car dramatically for a few seconds, then promptly gets turned into swiss cheese and dies in a completely slapstick Looney Tunes way. Absolute icon of a guy tbh

My former roommate has these horrible top heavy water glasses that I kept knocking over - I think I spilled water all over my sewing table or nightstand at least 5 or 6 times a year while living there. I didn't have any water glasses of my own, so when I moved out I had a think and got a couple of thick bottomed glass beer mugs from the thrift store. Much harder to knock over! It's only been a few weeks, but hopefully I can go a whole year without any such disasters.

Polar Box Cooler for The Sims 2 Functional
I made a standard version and a small one (repo to the original). These are functional cooler based on Affinity Sims Cooler. I choosed to make pastel colors as requested :) I changed the inside because I don't really like that previous flat one. I add some soda and beer cans from the game (texture are from aroundthesims) and two wine bottles (from the game, texture by @neosimi). That increase a bit the polycount, now is 7k. You will find them in the fridge section of buy mode.

pondery/theoretical thoughts on the Fionna and Cake premiere under the cut
my suspicion is that the "cool ice prince" Fionna keeps seeing in her dreams isn't a version of Simon, but is rather a representation of Ice Finn, sort of like Gunter's pigeon dream avatar in Hoots. this isn't really based on anything concrete except that we see that he has blue eyes, which doesn't necessarily mean anything - mainly I just think it'd be really neat!
I'm not sure exactly who or what is responsible for the glitched-out "normal" world that Fionna Campbell is set in! right now I'm dithering between Betty, Simon, or the crown acting autonomously somehow. my spouse pointed out that the glitches are somewhat inconsistent, which leads me to believe that someone is actively maintaining the world, and that in the city gardens there don't seem to be nearly as many glitches.
I'm pretty sure that all the inhabitants of Fionna's world (I hope we get a better name for it 😅) started out as denizens of Ooo, rather than having been born human. I think that whatever force put them there wanted to preserve their personalities, so I think that most of their memories of the human world are translated versions of their actual memories rather than fully fake.
Gary's behavior and demeanor is extremely interesting to me! it's clear that he's still very himself - there's his usage of very precise measurements and his fixation on making candy-I-mean-biscuit people, but he also seems… not all there? most obvious is when Fionna rhetorically asks him how long they've known each other and he says "hmm, I don't know. I guess, like, forever?" but there's also the way he seems to be slow on the uptake at times - when Fionna eats his prototype before he can frost it he stares at where it was for two full seconds before looking up. currently I have a theory that he's acting a little weird because it's really hard to fit him into a normal human world and keep his mind intact! after all, if he's around Fionna's age then he's about 30, which represents less than 4% of his true lifespan. in addition to that, he's got a very atypical childhood and family tree and he's not in the position of authority he's spent the majority of his life in.
another thing that my spouse pointed out is that the fight with the bear comes across as extremely staged, especially in light of Finn openly referring to Simon as "bait" after he catches the mudskipper. currently our guess is that the bear was a shapeshifted Huntress Wizard, especially since Finn encouraging Simon to stab it in the heart is reminiscent of Huntress Wizard trying to get Finn over his aversion to killing in The Wild Hunt.
Finn does the Martin wink and it makes me sad! 😅
I really hope that the gum family show up, because I think they have a lot of interesting commonalities with the situations of almost every character we've been shown so far! I think that the setup of Dirt Beer Guy's tavern could very easily lead to this, since we see Punch Bowl and Crunchy spending time socially with Dirt Beer Guy in the epilogue of Come Along With Me. there's also the possibility of seeing Gary's family, which I'd be thrilled to bits by.
Tumblr media
Ellis' expression when Fionna offered him the bagfood broke my heart a little :( on the plus side I love how he's living his purplest life!
