As a multi-shipping bisexual person who has been crying tears of joy for the past two episodes over the bi-buck story arc - I need you all to know that the weirder you guys are about it (and let's be real right now, you guys are being INCREDIBLY weird about it), the more uncomfortable I, an actual real life queer person, get with Buddie.
I genuinely love Buddie, one of my all time favorite fics across any fandom is "My Fingerprints Smeared on Your Heart", but I'm very hesitant to believe it will ever happen. So when ABC brings in Tommy and starts a VERY WELL WRITTEN and BEAUTIFUL queer story that UPLIFTS MY HEART and then I go into fan spaces to see people trashing on BuckTommy, or screaming "no Buck thats the wrong guy", or wanting the relationship to end with Buck cheating (which is incredibly biphobic btw) with Eddie, or implying/hoping that Tommy is an abuser that Buck can be saved from by Eddie, or any of the countless other scenarios that turn Buck's happily-and-safely-exploring-his-sexuality arc into small-or-traumatic plot point for the purpose of making Buddie canon it makes me feel deeply uncomfortable with Buddie and my fellow 911 fans. And that makes me sad, because I love fan spaces and I love interacting with people who like the same things as me!
Also, please learn the difference between queerbaiting and queer coding.

the life cycle of this buddie getting shut down in s4 theory is exactly what I meant when I said the fandom is queerbaiting itself.
people take a snippet of bts info that they have almost no context for -> extrapolate wildly -> the theory spreads, more stuff gets tacked on -> it spreads even further, now minus any context -> it gets ingrained into the fanon lore and treated as a fact -> ppl get their hopes up, then feel cheated if/when nothing comes of it.
in less than a day we’ve gone from oliver saying bi buck was pitched to him at some point in the last couple of years but got squashed by someone above him, to people saying that the shooting/will was definitely originally an explicit love confession.
To be clear we’ve no idea what that version of buck’s coming out would’ve looked liked. Hell, depending on how early it got scrapped, the writers might not know much beyond buck = bi.
and I’m not saying it’s not plausible (to a degree at least) but some of you are acting like oliver leaked a deleted buddie confession scene in 4k. When all he did was make a pretty vague reference to a storyline that never was.
It’s fine to speculate just please stop presenting it as if tim minear is in your dms.

I could be remembering wrong but I think it’s so telling that they’ve never referred to Buck as Chris’ “Uncle Buck”. Like it’s perfectly common for a close family friend to be called “uncle” or “aunt” in context of a kid because the parents consider that person family.
And it’s also evident and canon that Eddie and Chris consider Buck family (“there’s no one in the world I trust with my son more than you”, “if I die, you become Christopher’s legal guardian”, “he’s hanging out with his Buck today!”, “he was looking for Buck”, Chris calling Buck when worried about Eddie, Chris running away to Buck’s when upset with Eddie, Buck promising Chris he’ll always have him no matter what, Buck taking Chris on adventures an trips all the time, “Buck, can I spend Christmas with you?”, “Buck, can we go to your house and play video games?”, etc. etc. etc. ETC.).
So it’s crazy, insane, ridiculous, interesting that Chris and Eddie never even once refer to Buck as “Uncle Buck”, when it would work so seamlessly and would help further the narrative they’re desperately trying to push with Buck and Eddie being best friends/brothers.
The fact is, Buck is not an uncle figure to Chris. He’s not even just a friend. He’s a father that would move heaven and earth for his son. And calling it anything else would be a disservice to the relationship they’ve cultivated between Chris and Buck.
But it would be so easy. And the fact that they haven’t done that speaks volumes to me.

I stopped watching 911 a while ago because I couldn't go through the same queerbaiting song and dance again and I can't believe they've actually done this. Canon Bi Buck I might cry!!!!
I'd been on this website too long (12 years maybe) and seen the hope, teasing and eventual mockery that has befallen so many of the best of shows and ships. Making queer audiences feel small for reading into the subtext, or often just text, of their shows. To get a man in his thirties discovering his sexuality, to maybe end up with the slow burn of the century and the most organic unfolding of queerness in network television. We could actually have this.
I'm sincerely, genuinely very emotional. All hail Oliver Stark whose said loud and clear that he had always seen what we had seen, understood, and was wanting this for his character. All hail Evan Buckley - this soft lovely man. I can't wait to start watching properly again. This is how you do it kids!

what do you mean that the 100th episode of the show isn't about the ensemble when they could have lengthened the premiere to be four parts but instead it's actually about buck being jealous of his boybestie making a new friend and it's been teased that there's some emotional character arc. but all of the promo has been about a the bachelor crossover. and the actors are being incredibly cryptic about their characters and their dynamic. and also i'm about to start eating drywall.

i mean look i did start watching 911 after seeing the bi!buck kiss so i knew going in that buddie was the big ship. but. like. i did not realize it was SO unbelievably blatant??? within the span of like ten episodes from eddie's intro you get:
eddie's intro and subsequent tension with buck being at least 50% based on the fact that buck thinks eddie is hotter than him
maddie asking if buck's "boy crush" on eddie means he's over his serious ex-girlfriend
buck immediately assuming that "he's so cute" is referring to eddie, and being SO confused when it's not
when eddie and shannon start having sex, buck is venting to chimney about how this is weird right chim tell me this is weird and not something eddie should be doing
someone saying that buck and eddie have an adorable son together after which there is a poignant pause and buck says "thank you" as though this is something that he desperately wants!!!!!
i know people say this a lot but there is not a heterosexual explanation for that. i can't believe you guys watched six seasons of this

Except if 911 ends and we don’t have buddie that will be queerbaiting
well no, it won’t have been anything remotely close to queerbaiting. because for it to be queerbaiting, the show would have had to have been explicitly teasing a potential relationship between them that they never followed through on: and they’ve never ever done that.
do buck and eddie have a deep connection and a beautiful relationship? yes. have we ever been promised that connection would become a romantic one? no. that means it is not - and never will be - queerbaiting if they don’t get together.
it might be a missed opportunity if you’re a buddie girlie: but in a show that is full of queer rep, you never get to call it queerbaiting because it isn’t. there’s an astronomically large difference between being disappointed it didn’t happen and there actually being queerbaiting and it would do you well in life to learn the difference between not getting what you want and structural inequality and lgbt folk being used as a marketing tool because they’re inherently different.
@clusterbuck i need ur queerbaiting hammer for this precious idiot
