pairing: hessarian trevelyan/tierce hawke (@sinquisition) word count: 476 description: modern au!sarian is entranced by hawke at a party. also grant is there.

It’s loud. The music resounding against his eardrums in a way that is surely actively causing hearing loss the longer he sits. But he barely feels it, barely hears anything as he chews a thumbnail and stares off at Tierce. Off in the crowd, drawing people in like a magnet or like he was a flame and everyone else was a moth, desperate to be burned by it.

He nearly jumps when Grant settles down on the seat next to him, drinking long from his own beer bottle. Sarian nods his acknowledgement but doesn’t break his stare off at Hawke. The other Hawke. Grant follows his gaze to his brother.

Grant grunts and toys absently with the label on his bottle. Usually he was silent when he sat by him. Him and Sarian enjoying a silent break from the crowds at these things his brother put on. Sometimes Grant was part of the crowd too, sometimes he was just as charming and magnetic as his brother and it felt just as amazing to have his smile turned on Sarian, his devilish jokes in his ear, his gregarious laugh, like being let into a secret club. But, if Sarian were honest, it was a fraction of the magnetic pull he felt to Tierce.

Tierce is laughing and flirting and loud off in his gathered crowd and Grant looks sidelong at him. “Left out?” He watches Tierce too, both of them staring now.

Sarian breaks away, takes a sip of his own drink before Grant can say anymore. “Not at all. I’m just taking a breather.” It’s true. He didn’t feel left out at all. If he stepped towards him, Tierce would make room for him in his magnetic force field. He’d smile and flirt with Sarian too and at the end of the day, it was likely he’d invite him home.

But there was a magic to seeing him in action. Watching him control a crowd in that crass, infectious way. You either loved Tierce Hawke or you hated him, and it was hard for Sarian to grasp the latter. He understood jealousy — God knew, his own brother could have a monopoly on the emotion — but even seeing Tierce flirting and touching and more didn’t steer Sarian away from anything except starry-eyed admiration. Of course, they would kiss him and love him and fuck him. Everyone does. It would be more baffling if they didn’t.

Even Grant seems to catch sight of the draw of Tierce. Holding him close and steady like an anchor so he wouldn’t drift away on the tide of others’ desires.

Because when Tierce looks at you and laughs with you or even fucking drags you into a bar fight, it’s impossible not to love him. And it’s getting harder and harder to deny that Sarian does, indeed, love him.

listen a friend suggested to me. a concept for a fic/au. that i do not know enough about qsmp to create so i am handing it here into the world in case someone DOES know enough and is inspired by this.

anyway so for those who aren't aware, iskall and tubbo have a vhsmp bit where iskall insists that he is tubbo's dad, a thing tubbo originally agreed to in order to get resources, lol. he is also son of captain sparklez by these means, but it's iskall who doesn't let the bit go; basically every interaction they've had on twitter since iskall refers to tubbo as "son", and even sometimes just like, randomly when iskall is otherwise talking about tubbo. it is my favorite silly family dynamic out there, i love it dearly.

the thing my friend suggested was: what if iskall finds out this means he has a granddaughter?

so my qsmp mutuals and followers PLEASE tell me what that would be like, as angsty or as silly as you'd like (i've heard Something is going down with tubbo on qsmp??? i think???), i just think this would be fantastic. i don't even know which egg tubbo has i lost track. or what that egg is like. i just. need this to exist in the world i can learn.

Maybe the problem with Christian fiction is that it's non-denominational. People are just "Christian", with no effort put into showing what practicing that religion looks like for them specifically. No indication that there are other Christians who could have different beliefs. No wrestling with differing ideas and the struggle of how one should live out their Christian faith. And that makes it unrealistic and unrelatable.

#me reading any christian historical fiction set in england: why are none of these gentry anglican?? #they ARE all anglican and if they are not it is extremely plot and character relevant you can't just have them using evangelical buzzwords #but i'm also thinking of this because i started another charlotte yonge book #that is by far my favorite of the things of hers that i've read #because it has characters who have different upbringings and religious opinions #instead of just 'here's a bunch of high church anglicans judging people who don't live up to their victorian standard' #you have the very high church anglican rector whose wife is worldly but still a very good person #the girl raised in a very strict protestant family who is more scrupulous than the anglicans but is still recognized as a good person #you have people who are trying to work out the nuances of different issues #and that makes it so much more realistic and so much easier to integrate into the story #(the politics though are hilarious) #(most of the classics that survive are the ones that were 'ahead of their time' in politics) #(so it's equally fascinating and refreshing and a bit infuriating to see one that is very very of its time with regards to women's rights) #('why did this woman get up at the meeting and explain her very good ideas for rebuilding after the fire? she should have had a man do it') #(meanwhile i'm just screaming 'why on earth SHOULDN'T she???') #(it's almost enough to make a feminist of me)

whenever conservative-aligned comics get passed around there’s always a couple of people who add on that comics are inherently liberal and the values shown in *insert comic here* aren’t representative of the industry but like...that’s not true lol. like yes for a majority of their history cape comics have advocated for lefitst policies but that’s not to say that they weren’t also widely populated by prejudices and bigoted ideas. the creators of superman were jewish and they still wrote/drew plently of racist caricatures about the japanese when they were working on the action comics title. let’s not even pretend that misognyny isn’t a prevalent and continuous problem. comics were by and large created by marginalized groups and the silver/dark ages did succeed in tackling a lot of societal problems, but saying that the industry has always been this bastion of moral goodness is not only inaccurate to its history but also discourages conversation about how politics are presented in today’s comics.

Kaeyappreciation post!

Kaeya is wonderful in a sense that he:

Has a penmanship described as "Beautiful Handwriting". He for sure worked on that.

Willingly spends his time making sure his outfit looks perfect

Is well-loved by Mondstadt and the Dawn Winery staff

Is described to like a prince, both in looks and in actions

Is shown to be gentle and caring to children and elderly, most seen with Klee and the staff from Dawn Winery

Is a great listener and, therefore, also knows what gifts to buy based off of something someone said in passing

Is predominantly kind- unafraid to help out and defend someone in need. His first reaction is always kindness, and worry about covering up that kindness later on

But Kaeya also has his moments where he:

Says things out of pocket with enough alcohol in his system. Things that usually lead to shame and regret.

Would rather give others the credit for his hard work if he could help it

Intentionally makes himself look suspicious by withholding information and only throwing tidbits that are not of substance

Has sadist tendencies, which affects how he treats both his (cavalry) company and his enemies

Can and will use underhanded tactics to gain the upper hand

Rarely ever says what he truly wants to say

Has a fake smile. Usually lies or only deals with half truths.

He is such a complex character. I really do want people to appreciate him and his intricacies more. The fact that his entire personality and story is done so well and continues to actually grow and expand as the story progresses is something that genuinely makes me want to keep watch of him. I have never, in all my fandoms, stuck to a character as long as I did with Kaeya, and honestly? I know I'm not alone with this.
