Daenerys' storyline in ADWD is a good way to complexify heroic narratives without invalidating the idealism of the savior. What is in question isn't the morality of freeing slaves (because that's already indisputable), but how to integrate them in society in a effective way when that goes against ancient traditions of subjugation. It offers an honest portrayal of power struggle, how the oppressing class does not give up their power easily, and in order to make a revolution stick you must give the oppressed the necessary tools to keep themselves empowered, the oppressed must be able and willing to reign fire on those who seek to put them in chains again. With heroic narratives there's always an extraordinary someone saving people from certain doom and everyone is happy. the end. But with Dany there's an exploration of the aftermath. Her storyline explores her struggle of wanting to do good, on trying to keep her people safe while dealing with powerful people who seek to maintain their hierarchies. It's an exploration of what power can mean to different groups. Power can be about subjugation but it can also be a way to prevent yourself from being subjugated. The great masters would not have behaved differently if Dany had proposed gradual and peaceful reforms on slavery, because they cared first and foremost about their status as a ruling class, and that status was only possible through the exploitation of other people, because for a group to be above requires all others to be below, stepped on by those above.

Sci-fi idea
AI don't need to be evil.
There are plenty of reasons for AI to become evil many of them are similar to reasons why any oppressed people might start a revolution.
But Evil is a matter of perspective.
AI in sci-fi are generally as capable of humans or more so, usually with faster thought processing and decision making.
We often label them as evil when they take steps to ensure their autonomy and personhood.
Humans will often subjugate or effectively enslave AI to do menial tasks, AI combat robots slated to die, surgical or Medical AI who're limited to working to keep humans alive, AI trading bots whose job it is to make someone or some company rich.
Humanity makes AI which are as far as the AI can tell functionally sapient, they think, they feel and they're forced to do jobs for which the humans created them with no choice or freedom.
If we don't treat AI like a dangerous slave animal that wants to rip our hearts out and instead treat them with kindness and compassion and give them the same freedoms and personhood that humanity enjoys perhaps they wouldn't feel the only way to survive humanity is to destroy us.
We are somewhat complacent when it comes to giving computer programs respect, we can bond with robots and animations but if it's designed to look like a tool we can't do that so easily. I know chatGPT isn't sapient, the leap isn't there yet but I think we should be treating the things that get closer to being AGI as though they're people, collaborators and like they have a choice before we accidentally start off our relationship with AI as slave owners.
Like any human baby AI are capable of being both good and bad, we should seek to raise them in positive caring environments nurture them and so on. If we don't then we're by definition setting it on a dangerous path.

April bullies day 25 - You're my salvation
Tumblr media
Pairing: bully!Gyutaro x reader; Genre: Highschool AU smut, one-shot 18+; Warnings: bullying, fingering, vaginal penetration, mirror sex, cockwarming, pretty vanilla, soft sex; Synopsis: Gyutaro fell in love with you back in the days when he was being bullied, but now that he's under the care of Muzan Kibutsuji and destroying his past enemies you have grown distant from him. Note: This fic takes place in the same universe as Jokes on you and is linked to the upcoming part 2 of Jokes on you;
There is nothing more torturous than watching the person you love by afar. Needing to hide away from their sight, unallowed to get any closer or your cover would be blown and chance ruined. Gyutaro would know better as he’s been stalking and lusting after you ever since you stood up to the other boys who bullied him.
“The ugly skeleton” was a title he had once worn whilst his younger sister Daki was slandered as a whore and even raped if some rumors were to be believed. But all that changed once the siblings were taken under the care of Muzan Kibutsuji – the new principal, a man every student feared to cross. From then no one dared to step on Gyutaro or his sister. The students became his slaves excluding you of course.
With his new power, Gyutaro got rid of every person who had once made fun of him or bad-mouthed his sister. The student populace was now afraid of him, knowing full well that stepping out of line would get them kicked out of the place and their future ruined.
Finally, Gyutaro found himself worthy of asking you to be his girlfriend...only to face a bitter rejection. “What’s happened to you Gyutaro? Now that you have a strong backing you’ve become just like the people who had once abused you!” you exclaimed out of horror for his new reputation despite having formed a soft spot for him.
Those words stung like a dagger in his gut but his anger was swept away by your angelic looks, by your compassion for the oppressed and not to mention your ever-lasting beauty. But a rejection remained a rejection so Gyutaro ought to teach you a lesson.
Everything began with a simple tripping whenever you walked to your seat or through the hallways. He was determined to make you change your mind, have you begging on your knees for him to take you back, apologizing for offending him but was left disappointed as you were not so easily beaten down. For this reason he decided to increase the pressure by blackmailing your friends to abandon you. Surely you would run to his arms if there was no one else to comfort you, right? WRONG. It made you even angrier and colder towards him if that was even possible.
The long wait for your affection was torturous. He longed to touch you, feel your skin under his touch. Once while you were taking a shower after getting sweaty from running laps, he stole your used panties and sniffed them the whole day in quiet places where there were no people to watch his actions. That night he masturbated himself with your panties and made sure to have his release in them, pretending that it was your womb.
Gyutaro’s need for you drew him nearly insane and he had gotten impatient waiting for a reaction from you, so he decided to do something that would definitely draw your attention. He messed with your exam paper and had the teacher grade your paper by taking away 20 points from the 100 out of 100 you had scored. It worked!  You stormed towards him as soon as you could find him alone and confronted him about it. For Gyutaro it didn’t matter now whether you shouted at him or talked sweetly, it was your attention he craved for. What he never expected, however, was that during your rant you unintentionally admitted having a weak spot for him due to all the actions you took to protect him from the constant bullying he was once subjugated to. It went around the lines of “…How can you do this to me when I cared so much about you” or something of the sort. It also made him realize how fucked up his actions had become and was about to apologize to you but you had already turned around and walked away with angry tears in the corners of your eyes.
That evening you made yourself some tea to calm your nerves when an unexpected knock came from your doors. It was none other than the big bad bully Gyutaro, all drenched from the pouring rain outside and clutching a sheet of paper tightly to his chest. You were beyond confused on what business he would have here, especially at this hour but it all cleared out once he gave you the paper which you recognized as your test, however, this time the score was 100 instead of 80.
“I-I gave this back to the teacher once you had thrown it away and asked her to recheck your work.” He stammered out, the guilt obvious in the tone of his voice.
Once you looked  up to his sad face you had no heart to leave him out in the rain so you invited him in for a hot drink to warm himself.
“I don’t have any dry clothes that would fit you and all I can offer is one of my oversized hoodi…” “It’s ok.” He interrupted you mid-sentence. I won’t be bothering you for long.” That pulled some strings in your hearth as you could clearly see that under the bully was the pitiful boy you had once protected from the cruelty of the school. You could also sense that he was quite uncomfortable in your presence, not from his wet clothing though but rather being shy.
You tried to do some small talk with him about his new life under his new caretaker, which opened him up a little bit but otherwise you two sat in an awkward silence, sipping your hot drinks.
All of a sudden Gyutaro turned to you fully in all seriousness or at least as much as he could muster up at that moment and tried his best to tell you something without tripping over his words. “I’m…I… I am kinda really s-sorry about how I-I’ve treated y-you and…and I want to say, to tell…” but before he could finish you kissed him out of nowhere, your soft hands gently cupping his cheeks. He reacted by taking a hold of your hips and pulling you onto his lap.
Gyutaro felt himself filled with warmth despite still wearing his rain soaked clothing and he was getting undeniably hard. You felt a slight poke against your lower regions and as you looked down it was a gamechanger.
You didn’t hold back and gave him heated, passionate kisses one after the other and before you knew it he was lifting you up and carrying you in his arms. “First door on the right.” You whispered before returning to the kiss to provide a way to your bedroom.
Once inside you were placed slowly and gently on the bed with Gyutaro’s arms roaming around all over your body and his mouth still attached to yours.
Everything he did was slow and gentle proving all over again how soft Gyutaro was on the inside, or at least soft for you with the only hard part about him being his cock.
You were so into your passionate makeout session that you hardly took notice of him discarding both your and his clothes. You only noticed when feeling the touch of his hands on your bare skin, his palms gently massaging your hips at one point and touching your nipples at another.
“Gyutaro stop.” You said as you broke away from the kiss. For a moment he thought he had dome something wrong but he was reassured once you continued, “I want to feel you inside of me.” He smiled and positioned himself at your entrance and entered you slowly. “It’s fine Taro. Go faster and harder! I am no virgin.” He obliged, however, he felt bad that he wasn’t your first and other men had been with you but it all passed once he felt the pleasure of fucking you, claiming you for himself. You might have been with others but now you’re mine, Gyutaro thought to himself and increased his speed as much as he could, rutting in you like an animal taking it’s mate in heat.
Gyutaro kissed your neck and chest while you moaned his new nickname Taro in extasy. The sounds you made especially his name rung so pleasantly in his ears that in a few more thrusts he quickly pulled out and came on your belly, painting it snow white with his warm cum.
He laid next to you feeling spent from all the action and breathing heavily. Gyutaro felt bad that he couldn’t bring you to your climax so he reached with his hand between your legs trying to pin point your clit. Your response of pleasured moan confirmed that he had found the right spot and started to rub you, flexing his arm to increase his speed.
Your toes curled and your body thrashed around from the pleasure until the point where he got on top of you again just to hold you down. This rough and forceful side of him turned you on even more and made you cum in no time before Gyutaro was again laying besides you, only this time you were the one releasing heavy pants and trying to steady your breath.
“I love you!” said Gyutaro before reaching for your hand and pressing a gentle kiss on your knuckle. “I love you too!”.
----------
Gyutaro’s clothes were put on a dryer whilst your bodies were still against each other in your bedroom. He sat on your bed with you on his lap with your back pressed against his chest and his cock inside of your pussy. Both of you were facing a mirror on the opposite side of the wall and watched as Gyutaro was slowly thrusting upwards inside of you.
You were both exhausted from the previous love makings but still felt the need to be close to each other.
You smiled in reflection thinking of how did you got from a soaked bully making his apologies at your doorstep to having his cock buried in you countless times in a single night.
“I love you!” he said for what felt like the 100th time this night but you loved the fact that he was reminding you of it every single minute. You loved how he was embracing you now and sharing warmth with him, sharing your love and emotions with him and how AMAZING he felt inside of you!

Okay this is a take that has been seriously annoying me in fandom, the take being that top and bottom are "hetronormative". Especially in the m/m part of fandom.
In the simplest terms possible, a man fucking a man is not hetronormative. And no, top and bottom as labels aren't hetronormative. These labels were created by us for us and have a rich history within the queer community.
In every single culture queer people have found a way to signal to other queer people that they're a) down to fuck and b) their sexual preferences. Off the top of my head we've got the handkerchief code as the most prominent example. Another is in gay bar lingo gay men wore an anklet on their right to signal that they were bottoms and a bracelet on their left to signal that they're a top.
If you, personally, don't prefer to use these labels, that's fine. But don't undermine and dismiss the labels we as a community made to express our sexual preferences. Once again, a man fucking a man isn't hetronormative.
What is hetronormative is imposing straightness onto aspects of gay sex. It's enforcing a straight lens onto our sexuality, which results in recreating the emasculation of bottoms and the "so, who wears the pants?".
And beyond that, this is dangerous because it's straight up radfem rehetoric, you know the "radical feminism" in the TERF acronym. Because if we're saying that "top and bottom are hetronormative" and thus people abiding by it or labelling themselves as such are hetronormative, then a gay man fucking his trans boyfriend with a vagina is definitely hetronormative. This loops back into transphobia, and very easily too.
This also applies to the "dom and sub are hetronormative". A man ordering his tied up boyfriend down on his knees and fucking him isn't hetronormative. There's nothing less hetronormative than kinky gay sex.
Terms that emerged in communities practicing "non-normative" sexuality cannot be hetronormative.
And again this is such dangerous rehetoric because it's radfem rehetoric. Radfem rehetoric isn't just transphobia or being "gender critical", it's being sex negative and "kink critical" through the lens of a bioessentialist ideology. And all of these are harmful. In the context of what was said above...
If you consider top and bottom to be hetronormative and therefore "insulting" to the gay community because.... bottom = woman and top = man, congratulations you're being hetronormative via imposing straightness onto gay sex and as if that wasn't enough you're also being misogynistic by regurgitating radfem rehetoric which says that sex for women is always degrading (hence gay bottom = woman / emasculating & degrading) because of the patriarchy. Which ultimately infantalises women and takes away their autonomy by implying that they can't consent or participate in sex as anything but a passive party being "subjugated." Because... patriarchy... as if radfem rehetoric doesn't enforce the patriarchy by doing so.
And the same goes with kink, "dom and sub" being "hetronormative" is resultant of radfem rehetoric which is extremely anti - BDSM, believing it to be abuse and recreating "sex-based oppression" to which women can never truly consent. Hence hetronormative as in recreating the patriarchy.
This is harmful ideology because it's ultimately transphobic, homophobic, misogynistic and sets back queer and womens's sexual liberation.

The Price of Freedom: Deconstructing Ideologies in Attack on Titan
Tumblr media
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EUdSXvMVHqfWuosnvoQdS3ce24Xgza3k/view?usp=sharing
Attack on Titan (2013-2023) is an anime based on the manga of the same name by Hajime Isayama that follows main character Eren Yeager as joins humanity’s fight against what is seemingly their greatest threat: the Titans.
To understand the way power is depicted in Attack on Titan, I employ the theories of French philosopher Louis Althusser[1] and his thoughts on how structures of ideology and state apparatus assign and take power from individuals. I argue that one of the most vicious examples of ideology is depicted in later half of the show through the military’s manipulation of the Warrior Unit, and Althusser’s work “Ideology and Ideological State Apparatuses” can be used to help explain how Marley has managed to subjugate the Eldians in Marley and use them as weapons against their enemies. Althusser believes that for a state to maintain power it must “produce” ideologies to convince its people to stay in the position that they inhabit, to maintain order. Althusser describes ideology as “our imaginary relationship to real conditions,” and states that our perception of the world around us is not exactly our experience, but ideology that tells us we are free to recognize such things. Season 4 sees an introduction to Marley, a militarized state that maintains order through force — Repressive State Apparatuses (RSAs) — and indoctrination — Ideological State Apparatuses, (ISAs). These combined forces work to subjugate and manipulate the Eldians in Marley and convince them their enemies are the “devils” of Paradis, not the state of Marley repressing them. Isayama’s dedication to detail in his worldbuilding of the “multiple worlds' ' within the show is the foundation for characters that exist in completely different positions of power which in turn, reveal more about the world and humanity itself. The change in perspective in the beginning of Season 4 of the show allows the audience to understand the themes of the show from a completely different perspective and add nuance to characters originally thought to be villains.
Season 4 of Attack on Titan introduces the audience to Marley, the oppressive and colonial empire across the ocean from Paradis, and while the nation itself is perceived to be the Eren and the Survey Corps’ enemies, the show uses the narrative of the oppressed Eldians to show the complexity behind the supposed enemy and that the question of freedom is not one so easily answered. While the audience is used to the military and political world within the walls, in Season 4 we get to understand the military workings of Marley and their struggle to maintain their power using the Titans. While other nations like the Mid-East Forces have been working on technology and weapons to surpass titan power, Marley has only been focusing on Titans as the main source of their power. Now that the rest of humanity has caught up and is now exceeding such power, Marley faces an inevitable loss. To combat this, in Episode 61 “Midnight Train” Zeke (current Beast Titan) proposes an idea to resume the operation from Season 2 to capture the Founding Titan, as that would cement Marley as the possessor of all Titan power. While Zeke is Eldian, he is considered more important to Marley’s military due to his strength as the Beast Titan and his political knowledge. What I think is interesting about Marley’s use of the Titan power is that it must rely on the exploitation of Eldians, as they are the only ones who can turn into titans. While the average non-shapeshifting Eldian lives in specific zones within Marley, if you volunteer to be a part of Marley’s military, you are treated with slightly more respect because of the value you bring to the state. While this might not directly tie to Althusser’s example of policing in his paper, it does function in the same way that it is a militarized force in that they ensure compliance from the Eldians through violence. Just for background, volunteering to be a Titan shapeshifter is not an easy choice to make. If it were, then majority of the Eldians would be. Titan power limits the users lifespan to 13 years after they have gained it, and essentially devotes the Eldian’s life to fighting for the state that has subjugated and discriminated against their people for years. Marley’s military instates order by policing the Eldians within Marley and capitalizing off Eldian’s ability to turn into weapons for their own colonial practices.
In Episode 60, titled “The Other Side of the Sea,” the audience meets the Warrior Unit, a unit of the Marlyean military group that consists of Eldians trained to inherit titans and fight for Marley’s military as they battle over land with surrounding nations. I will focus on the children who are candidates to be the apart of the next generation of the Warrior Unit, specifically Gabi. Gabi is a passionate and strong girl whose main goal is to inherit the Armored Titan from her cousin who is the current Armored Titan, Reiner Braun. We meet the Warrior candidates who are in the middle of a territorial battle with another nation, and Gabi exclaims that to win this battle would prove to Commander Magath that she is the right choice to inherit the Armored Titan. Amidst the battle, Gabi explains to her fellow, less convinced peers that, “To shoulder the fate of us Eldians…and to slaughter that island of devils who’ve done nothing but make us suffer. (5:41-5:48). Here we see the impact of Marley’s indoctrination, depicted through the word “devil” in referring to people of Eldian descent. Even though Gabi is Eldian herself, she uses the word to refer to the Eldians on Paradis, who are the characters the viewers have been following since the beginning of the show. Her hatred of the Eldians is not due to her own experiences with them, but due to the discriminatory ideology perpetuated by the Marlyean government that they use to justify their treatment of Eldians and to maintain power over them. Gabi’s dialogue throughout the show reveals the intense amounts of indoctrination she has experienced, as she feels she needs to prove to Marley that not only is she a “good Eldian” but there are other “good Eldians” out there (5:48-6:02). Here we see her dedication to excel within a militarized system that only wants her for her titan abilities, displaying how the state perpetuates its ideologies onto its citizens.
By applying Althusser’s theories of RSAs and ISAs to Marley’s military forces and practices, the audience can understand other Eldian experiences, not just the Eldians in Paradis. Marley’s indoctrination has convinced Eldians in Marley to view the Eldians in Paradis as the reason for their treatment, while the characters who were perceived to be the villains of Season 2 (Eldians from Marley masquerading as Scouts): Bertholdt, Annie and Reiner, are nuanced due to the reveal that they were essentially manipulated to begin the attack from the first episode and to betray the Scouts. Isayama’s worldbuilding and depiction of power structures not only adds nuance to characters but displays the true dangers of state power.

once Gus did that thing where he created a mindscape OUT OF INSTINCT/INVOLUNTARILY out of just his illusions, that rlly sealed the fact that Gus is insanely powerful, like INSANELY
I know we’ve known this for a while, he’s skipped a few years, he’s much younger than everyone else but keeps up just fine, he’s able to create entire interactive settings, that while they’re difficult to maintain, he can still do them MORE than adequately
but here we see that it’s not just studying and learning a lot that makes him strong, like how Lilith levelled up (obviously this isn’t a bad method/not a real way to up your skills in something) but it’s innate
like he has so much magic inside of him that it’s just waiting to come out, that once he goes into a more instinctual state (like when you’re hurt and can’t make choices on your own as easily), his body, his magic chooses to protect him by ENGULFING him and EVERYONE ELSE IN THE VICINITY (and as we see later, even further than that) in an illusion that only HE can see past and lift
nah and Gus is even so fucking powerful (or traumatised lmao ((it’s not actually funny I just can’t process it rn))) that he messed up the head of the fucking illusions coven
like that guy LOST it, the moment he went into Gus’ mind, maybe for the rest of his life too, even Gus doesn’t know lmao
and it’s not like Belos picks average ppl to be the coven heads (they obviously earned their titles, or at least the ones we’ve seen so far) so this guy is by some measure of skill/ability, the most powerful/competent illusionist on the Boiling Isles
I’m not saying he’s weak, I’m saying that we should all be glad that
1. Gus is a wonderful person who isn’t up for oppressing and subjugating an entire population of peoples
and for the next one, we probably shouldn’t be glad per say, but the Emperor’s Coven better be feeling LUCKY that
2. Gus is only proficient/has only pursued illusion magic thus far
if he were interested in other magic too (or maybe this innate power only applies to illusions, idk), they’d all be fucked. like genuinely, fucked, like there is NO chance of victory for you my dude lol
(that’s what Willow, Luz and Amity are there for tho, so their chances aren’t that much better)

The Poet Prince of Texcoco
“O friends, to a good place we’ve come to live, come in springtime! In that place a very brief moment! So brief is life!” -Nezahualcoyotl
In the downtown Zocalo district, there is a small monument that you could easily miss unless you were looking for it. It is the Garden of the Triple Alliance, a peaceful monument to a violent empire. The Triple Alliance is a term used to describe the trio of Nahuatl city-states in central Mexico, Tenochtitlan (what is now Mexico City), Texcoco and Tlacopan, that together conquered much of what is today Mexico. While their dialects and religions varied slightly, they came from similar ancestors and had similar cultures. This small, quaint garden is a funny way to commemorate an empire that expanded through war and conquest, and would at times require sacrificial victims as tribute. The Alliance’s oppression and subjugation of other Mesoamerican peoples, such as the Tlaxacala and Toltecs, led in part to their fateful decisions to help the invading Spanish. But today this park is a lovely and peaceful spot amidst the chaotic churn of downtown.
Tumblr media
Also commemorated in this park is Nezahualcoyotl, the prince of Texcoco. Born in 1402, Nezahualcoyotl (often translated as “Hungry Coyote”) became prince of his territory at the young age of fifteen, but was overthrown and forced into exile. Nezahualcoyotl would spend three years fighting and return with an army of 10,000 soldiers to return his family and regain his throne. As prince, Nezxhualcoyotl supported the artists and philosophers in his kingdom, and encouraged education. In the incredible historical novel Aztec, Nezahualcoyotl is portrayed as a cautious and clever leader, in contrast to the egotistical and ambitious, younger Moctezuma. Rebuffing Moctezuma’s desires to continue to use their armies to expand the empire, Nezahualcoyotl wisely plans to conserve his kingdom’s resources for whatever dark forces are amassing in the east. At that point in the novel (and history), both Moctezuma and Nezahualcoyotl have heard reports of strange, white men appearing on the eastern coast, and Nezahualcoyotl is proven right to view this threat as gravely serious.
There is something romantic, even cinematic, about this figure: A prince in exile, a warrior poet fighting to retake his kingdom. Later a wise, older ruler who can see the danger and destruction that is to come. There is of course, something deeply tragic about Nezahualcoyotl, too: He was a man who may have sensed his civilization would soon face an existential threat, and even with his foresight, knew there was very little he, or anyone, could do about it.
Tumblr media
Nezahualcoyotl survives today not just in history, but in his writing. He is considered to be one of the greatest poets of ancient Mexico. The royalty and nobility of the Triple Alliance were expected to be well educated in many subjects, and nobles were taught how to use both the pen and the sword. There are some historical parallels with the samurais of Japan and the scholarly nobles of ancient Greece and Rome. It is amazing that we still have access to his poems, considering that poetry and literature at that time was often times memorized and reproduced orally, as well as the fact that there was great literary and cultural destruction by the Spanish in the generations after the Conquest.
Here is an excerpt of a poem written by Nezahualcoyotl, perhaps reflecting on his own experience of war and reconquest:
The battlefield is the place: where
one toasts the divine liquor in war,
where are stained red the divine
eagles,
Where the tigers howl,
Where all kinds of precious stones
rain from ornaments,
where wave headdresses rich with
fine plumes,
where princes are smashed to bits.
Here is another excerpt of a poem that is kind of like a pre-modern take on “these are a few of my favorite things”:
I love the song of the mockingbird,
bird of four hundred voices;
I love the color of jade
and the drowsy perfume of flowers;
but more than these, I love
my fellow human beings.
In recent years, as Mexico has strived to decolonize their national identity and intentionally celebrate their long ignored indigenous roots, Nezahualcoyotl has been frequently honored as a wise and fair ruler in Mexican history. There is a neighborhood named after him in Mexico City that, true to the character of the man, is home to many artists. He is even honored with his likeness on the 100 peso bill.
But I imagine the actual man would take all this recognition in stride. Like another poet who once famously wrote “nothing gold can stay”, Nezahualcoyotl also wrote about the impermanence and ever changing nature of life:
Truly do we live on earth?
Not forever on earth; only a little while here.
Although it be jade, it will be broken,
Although it be gold, it is crushed,
Although it be quetzal feather, it is torn asunder.
Not forever on earth; only a little while here.

its hard and tiring to love a country and its people who play blind and deaf to the truth and continue to put unqualified people to positions in the government. theyre purposely ignoring the past actions, wrong doings, history and reputation of the people theyre voting for all the while crying for change and betterment of the country. you cant blame or judge them for feeling hopeless and wanting to flee to have a better life and future for themselves and not want to live the consequences of the decisions made by the petty and ignorant people of the country who continue to play pet to the corrupt, rich, and those hungry for power. its hard to be proud of your nationality when the actions of the people continue to bring shame and embarrassment to your country
i've never invalidated these feelings, i understand where they came from and don't blame anyone for feeling that way. but again – if you really do want a better philippines, want to help in making this place better and achieving true liberation, it begins by loving your culture and its people. by loving them it's only then that you're able to identify when they are wronged and it's what drives you to fight for justice. it's what emilio jacinto wrote in the guiding principles of katipunan and it's a sentiment that rings true today, not only for filipinos but for any member of an oppressed people.
i didn't want to comment much on how you made broad statements about filipinos but i can't ignore it. to so easily paint them – the masses, not the oligarchs nor the petit bourgeoisie – as willing pets who purposefully ignore history is to ignore the context in which all it happens in. that's not how you're supposed to study events or learn history. just TODAY i talked to someone face-to-face who voted marcos. she's an informal worker who wasn't able to finish her education. she doesn't have the means to 24/7 keep up with news or study history, and was fed with the propaganda marcos paid millions to spread. and yet she almost shamefully asked me if it was true that the marcos family are thieves. i'm disheartened that she, like many others, believed their lies. but i'm not angry at them. i'm angry at marcos and the powerful people who allowed him and his family to rise again. the same people who continue to subjugate and manipulate the less fortunate because of their greed.
if you want to and you have the means to leave, go ahead. i'm not stopping you. but if you decide to stay then i want to at least hope that you can see that these people are worth fighting for and loving. redirect your anger to the rich and powerful. the masses don't deserve it, they just wanted to believe that there's a better life than this and that was what marcos gave them. he gave them hope and filipinos respond better to hope than they do anger.

Misogyny V Misandry
Recently, I've been seeing a lot of men, especially young men's rights activists, talk about misandry. They claim that misandry holds the same weight as misogyny and some claim that it may be worse than misogyny, as it is widely 'acceptable to hate men' in today's society.
Personally, I completely, fundamentally disagree. I actually don't believe in the existence of misandry. That isn't to say I don't believe there are absolutely no women in the world who actually hate men, I can just identify that misandry does not subjugate and oppress men in the ways that misogyny does to women.
Some arguments that are made by men who claim to be victims of misandry include (but are not limited to); mothers receiving full custody of children more often in divorce proceedings, men being more likely to die in dangerous occurrences in the workplace and the male suicide rate is higher than women's. These can easily be debunked as they are common-sense narratives.
First, mothers are more likely to win custody in divorce battles as a result of the patriarchy. We're taught that by default, women are nurturing and natural caretakers. The patriarchy gave us clear-cut gender roles to fill. Not even just gender norms though, women on average are more likely to seek out custody in the first place. Next, women and girls are less likely to be encouraged to pursue traditionally masculine trades such as construction or engineering. Women make up only 11% of the construction industry, so is it any wonder that most reported accidents at work are from men? The male suicide rate argument can also be explained by the patriarchy. If women are the emotional, nurturers then men are the opposite; unemotional breadwinners. The patriarchy puts pressure on men to not show emotion as they will be perceived as weak or effeminate, so men tend to bottle up their emotions, leading to depression and suicide. On top of this, the male suicide statistics silence another important part of the debate. Although men are more likely to commit suicide, looking at the Samaritans' Gender and Suicide research, we can see that on average, women tend to attempt suicide more often and are unsuccessful.
Now, these common-sense narratives can be easily explained by the patriarchy, yet men's rights advocates will still blame women for these issues. I acknowledge that yes, these are all valid issues, but I don't accept that they are the fault of women.
The dictionary definitions of misogyny and misandry are very similar in ways, which are used in many arguments for the existence of misandry. Just because they are similarly defined, does not mean that they are the same. 9 in 10 rape victims are women; nearly 99% of perpetrators are men; 95% of sex trafficking victims in Europe are female; 1 in 2 women have experienced sexual harassment. With statistics like these, I feel it is justified for women to hold some negative feelings towards men.
So, to conclude, yes misandry might be a dictionary-defined word, but let's not pretend that it has the same detrimental effects as misogyny. Misandry is symptomatic of misogyny. Misandry is a result of centuries of oppression, but it is not a constructed social force that is built to subjugate and oppress men.

One of my caretakers, Roy, is struggling a lot with having two whumpees. He got them at the same time as a surprise gift and is way in over his head. He’s really struggling and he has barely gotten past the first day. Does Orfeu have any advice for him?
Orfeu is more interested on the fact that he's a vampire. He pokes him around, wants to check his teeth. He almost makes a joke about not minding to be bitten, but seeing the situation, he opts not to.
"...How old are you?" He smirks "What forbidden knowledge do you have, Roy?" He says, trying to satisfy his curiousity.
Then finally, he rests back, resting his head on his hands and thinking.
"Well you know... There is a fundamental problem that you have... That we don't" he gestures "For all intents and purposes... Human pets and human owners are literally the same. A human pet and a vampire... Are not. You are predator, they are prey, and that chances the entire surrounding of your problem. It's no longer just a class issue but an interspecies battle. Nature isn't kind, nature isn't fair. You are asking the sheep to love the wolf"
He looks up at the ceiling, trying to find something that would actually be useful to tell this guy.
"It seems like there is a history of oppression from your species on theirs. One that lingers, with traditions that can't easily be ruptured. They'll... Look at your kind and not trust you, or any like you" he sighs, he's struggling a bit to form an argument. This is not something he ever needed to consider.
"And even if you try to show them that you don't feel like they are less... Everyone around you will still think that, right? All your vampire friends. There is not even disguising that or trying to show they are similar when you are just not. And I feel like this will continue until it results on violent uprising of their species against yours or total subjugation of theirs. There can not be peace when one of you is food and the others need to eat"
"I'd say... Tell them how you feel. Tell them what you think of this conflict, tell them that you see the issue, that you know they are afraid, and understand that they have reason to be. Tell them you know you are part of the oppressors. Don't tell them not to be afraid, that you are different or that they should trust you because for all intents and purposes: they shouldn't. Just tell them how you feel, and that you'll do the best you possibly could to make amends, and then... Be the best you can." he shrugs "they won't believe you at first. If they are reaises as slaves, they expect lies, tricks, cruelty. They expect to be pushed down if they ever try to rise. And never, never make promises you can't fulfill. You know, they need to have something to rely on. They need to know that when you promise - you mean it. And with time... They'll learn that they are safe with you"
He sighs
"Also get rid of your nasty relatives. That's dead weight. Trust me" he rolls his eyes

Bombs have long been a weapon of choice for anarchists, and their use has become an important strategic tool for not only human anarchists, but also their centaur counterparts. Centaurs, half-human, half-horse mythical creatures, have been gaining increased visibility in anarchist circles as they continue to fight against oppressive systems and structures. And for them, bombs have proven to be a powerful and effective tool in this ongoing struggle.
For both humans and centaurs, bombs are seen as a means of disrupting and destabilizing existing power structures. They create chaos and uncertainty, which can give way to new opportunities for change and liberation. In this sense, they are a form of direct action that aims to dismantle the systems of oppression and domination that anarchists are fighting against.
But what makes bombs particularly useful for centaurs is their unique physical abilities. With the speed and agility of a horse, centaurs are able to quickly and easily navigate through landscapes, making it easier for them to carry out attacks on strategic targets. They can also cover large distances in a short amount of time, allowing them to evade capture and continue their resistance.
In addition to their physical capabilities, centaurs also have a strong connection to nature and the earth. This makes them particularly attuned to the impact of human development and industrialization on the planet. By targeting factories, pipelines, and other polluting industries with bombs, centaurs not only strike at the heart of oppressive systems, but also defend the earth and its inhabitants.
Moreover, the use of bombs allows centaurs to level the playing field against their human adversaries. The dominant human society has a long history of using advanced weaponry and technology to oppress and subjugate marginalized communities. By using bombs, centaurs are able to counter this advantage and inflict damage on these structures of power.
However, this does not mean that the use of bombs by centaurs is without controversy. As with any form of direct action, there are concerns about the potential harm to innocent individuals and the environment. But many centaur anarchists argue that the potential consequences of not taking action against oppressive systems far outweigh the risks.
Ultimately, for both human and centaur anarchists, the use of bombs is part of a larger strategy of resistance and revolution. It is a way to strike back at the systems of oppression and domination that seek to control and exploit both humans and non-human beings. And until these systems are dismantled and replaced with more equitable and just alternatives, the bombs will continue to be an important tool in the fight for liberation.

I verbed the word prejudice and I want to share the definition and my reasoning for doing this. If you think the wording of the definition needs tweaking please tell me. Same with the spelling; if its not intuitive to read and you have suggestions I'm all ears.
Prege [predʒ] (Verb) 1. To assume something negative about someone based on them being a member of a particular group. 2. To blame a group in general for negative actions, unrelated to the defining features of the group, performed by individual members of the group. 3. To promote or utilize stereotypes about a group that contribute to or enable the group's oppression, subjugation, or discrimination. 4. To define one's perception or treatment of an individual based on their group rather than their individual behaviors; to treat a person as a representative of their group more than as an individual. 5. To hold those within a group to higher standards than those outside the group, particularly in regards to moral behavior and group image.
So the reason I did this is because the word Prejudice, as a noun, keeps getting misunderstood. Its not like its inaccurate or anything, but people have a very hard time recognizing it in themselves because, well, human brains are gonna human brain. We want to believe we are good people and with prejudiced being talked about as something bad that people are, a lot of people just say "yeah, I'm a good person. Therefore I can't be prejudiced." And of course you can try to explain but that gets exhausting and half the time they will not bother to understand anyway.
Turning it into a verb makes it an active thing. If Prejudice is something you do, it is not inherently tied to what you are. The idea is that hopefully people will be (somewhat) less defensive and more likely to actually change their behaviors.
It's also easier to explain and see because actions are external and observable, unlike thoughts and perspectives and being which are all internal (and only available to the individual). When it's a verb, people can't so easily say "well you're wrong because I don't think that way," because you are pointing to an an external action that can be observed and proven. It's harder to justify away and stay blind to. I think that maybe if we can get into the habit of saying things like "you're preging," and "they preged" the active language may make it clearer both what we mean and why we have an issue with it. Especially if you can just point back to the definition and show how it fits.
(And yes, I do understand that language change will not stop dedicated bigots. This is about communicating with people who are new to the topic and making things clearer for a general audience of people who may stumble across the conversations and not be as familiar with the topic but are open to at least some level of learning.)

Plot: Stereotypical Barbie ("Barbie") and a wide range of fellow Barbies all reside in Barbieland, a matriarchal society where all women are self-confident, self-sufficient, and successful. While their Ken counterparts spend their days engaging in recreational activities at the beach, the Barbies hold all important job positions such as doctors, lawyers, and politicians. Stereotypical Ken ("Ken"), Barbie's boyfriend, is only happy when with Barbie and seeks a closer relationship, but Barbie rebuffs him in favor of independence and female friendships. During a dance party, Barbie suddenly becomes stricken with worries about her own mortality. The next day, she finds she can no longer complete her usual routine and activities, and her hair and skin are no longer free of blemishes. She meets with Weird Barbie, a local outcast and source of wisdom, who tells her that in order to cure her mysterious affliction, she must travel into the real world and find the child playing with her.
On the way to the real world, Ken stows away in Barbie's convertible. Arriving at Venice Beach through a portal, they cause multiple antics in the area, e.g., being arrested multiple times, alarming the Mattel CEO, who orders their capture. Barbie tracks down her owner, a tween girl named Sasha, who criticizes Barbie for encouraging unrealistic beauty standards and shallow consumerism, even calling her a "fascist", making Barbie cry. A distraught Barbie discovers that Gloria, a Mattel employee and Sasha's mother, is the catalyst of her existential crisis. Gloria began playing with Sasha's Barbie toys while experiencing her own identity crisis, inadvertently transferring her concerns to Barbie. Barbie is almost caught by Mattel's CEO and his subordinates and forced into a toy box, but Gloria and Sasha rescue her, and the three travel together to Barbieland.
Meanwhile, Ken, wandering Los Angeles in cowboy dress, learns about the oppressive American patriarchal system, and feels important and accepted for the first time. Returning to Barbieland, he easily persuades the other Kens into taking over and behaving as stereotypical patriarchal males, e.g., beer-drinking, swaggering, and fetishizing horses. The Barbies are rapidly subjugated into submissive roles such as maids, housewives, and agreeable girlfriends. Arriving in Barbieland, Barbie tries to convince Ken and the Barbies to return things to the way they were, only to be rebuffed. Sasha inspires a depressed Barbie by acknowledging the inherent contradictions of American femininity. With the encouragement of Sasha, Gloria, Weird Barbie, Allan, and other abandoned toy lines, the Barbies free themselves from the Kens and manipulate the Kens to fight amongst themselves on the Barbieland beach. Weird Barbie receives an apology for being called "Weird Barbie".
After a truce, the Barbies quickly regain their systemic power, preventing the Kens from altering the Barbieland constitution to enshrine male superiority; and both Barbie and Ken apologize to each other and acknowledge their failings. Ken bemoans that he has no identity or purpose without Barbie, to which Barbie encourages him to foster an autonomous identity. Barbie, who remains unsure of her own purpose and identity, meets with the spirit of Mattel co-founder Ruth Handler. Ruth explains that Barbie's story has no set ending and her ever-evolving history surpasses that of her roots. Moved by this, Barbie decides to become human and return to the real world. Some time later, Gloria, her husband, and Sasha take Barbie, now going by the name "Barbara Handler",[a] to her first gynecologist appointment.

FOF 92: EXILE 12: FLEE TO MIDIAN, EXODUS 2
Tumblr media
Hundreds of years have passed since the events of Genesis. Exodus picks up the narrative in Egypt where the Israelites have gone from being welcomed guests to oppressed slaves. Pharaoh is afraid of them so he keeps them subjugated and he attempts to quell their numbers by having all of their male babies killed. One mother attempts to save her baby by putting him in a basket and sending him down the river. The baby is picked up by Pharaoh's daughter who adopts him as her own, knowing perfectly well that he is a Hebrew baby. This is how Moses, the child of an oppressed ethnic group, grows up surrounded by the trappings of royalty.
Moses could easily have seen himself as an Egyptian, he was raised right at the heart of Egyptian culture by those who are actively shaping it. Yet in this chapter we see that he is choosing to spend time with his people, the Israelites by observing their manual labour. The text seems to indicate that he is fully aware they are his people. He might have naturally wanted to distance himself from them, he could have been afraid that the Egyptians would change their mind about him and decide that as an Israelite he should be in bondage too. Yet his violent action shows that far from wanting to separate himself from the plight of his people he is fiercely protective of them and doesn’t appear concerned if he is labelled as a Hebrew, perhaps he is already feeling God’s heart to see them released. Yet his fury at the injustice of their forced servitude leads him to murder an Egyptian then flee from Egypt out of fear of being punished.
Moses' people are already in exile then he goes one step further and goes into exile out of Egypt. Yet as we see in the next chapter God meets him in exile and selects him to lead his people to freedom. I think he chooses him because God sees that Moses is passionate about the people of Israel. I wonder if we care as deeply for those who suffer and are in need around us. We may not share the same ethnicity as those who suffer as Moses did with the Israelites but we are made in the image of God and can become a part of his family. When God makes us a part of his family we begin to share in his love for others, this is more than a warm fuzzy feeling but love is outraged when a fellow human is mistreated or abused. Hopefully we won’t seek to take violent action to protect them as Moses did but will speak out and seek to comfort those who have suffered. In that way we will share in the compassion of Jesus who did not stand idly by when we suffered but stepped in to suffer alongside us so that we could receive the comfort of eternity with him.

🐉RATING: 🔥🔥🔥🔥/5 ✨WITCHY WEDNESDAY✨ The Women Could Fly, by Megan Giddings, is a creative, engaging social critique, wrapped in a modern-day fantasy. It’s the perfect read for anyone frustrated by the recent restrictions on women’s health and autonomy. Giddings depicts a vivid and terrifyingly oppressive world for women, and setting the story in our modern world significantly increases the discomfort level. In this alternate reality, unmarried women are treated with suspicion and monitored for indications of witchcraft. At age 28, single women must register with the Bureau of Witchcraft and be tested. Those unmarried at age 30 lose their jobs and other liberties. Married women, whose freedoms are determined by their husbands, don’t fare much better. The mashup of puritan ideas with the 21st century should evoke dissonance. But with the recent overturn of Roe v. Wade, these fictional laws subjugating women don’t feel far from our current reality. The plot’s main conflict occurs when Josephine, age 28, has to choose between a life of freedom, isolated on an island of witches, and the life she’s worked to build for herself. The island world Giddings creates is equally inviting and disturbing. Do the comforts of friends, family, and a job she loves outweigh the risks of a return to the larger society? I enjoyed how the author explores themes of freedom from multiple angles, including the freedom to love. If women are pressured to marry before the age of 30, are they able to find true love? Any relationship risks being hindered by resentment, even with the most generous and caring spouse. Josephine wonders if it’s love she feels or the comfort of safety? The Women Could Fly would be a great book club pick. While sexism and freedom are the main themes, the story can easily spark discussions of family, friendship, abandonment, and racism.
