St Johns bridge got the name Cathedral bridge by Al Monner that posted a picture on the front page of the Oregon Journal and he said it arches reminded him of a cathedral.

The St. Johns Bridge is a steel suspension bridge that spans over the Willamette River and was designed by engineer David Steinman.

Really is a beautiful bridge.

Sad to see a missing person person posted. I think they found him. At a gas station there was another missing persons poster of someone else that was missing. Both were young men.

Sad that there is a need for a sign like this but glad that they are making people aware. Where I live the deep water channel has mercury in it too from the port of Sacramento.

From this park we drove to Seattle Washington, and went up the Space Needle and walked around Olympic Sculpture Park. I will post those pictures another time.

I finally got back into the mountains this weekend. My escape consisted of short hikes between successive waves of cold, soaking rain. Salvation nonetheless. Photos are from multiple stops along Rt 219 and its byways, including Garrett State Forest (MD), Cranesville Swamp (WV and MD), and Cathedral State Park (WV). The hawthorns are gorgeous this time of year, not to mention the second wave of spring wildflowers now coming into bloom, including fringed polygala (Polygaloides paucifolia), dwarf ginseng (Panax trifolius), red chokeberry (Aronia arbutifolia), painted trillium (Trillium undulatum). and golden ragwort (Packera aurea).

Corcos paints what appears to be the northern part Central Park from an elevated view looking northwest. The artist used a restricted palette of warm browns and grays with heavy outlines. She was a leading modern American primitivist who has had numerous museum shows, including the Whitney Biennial.

13th September 2023: Another gorgeous sky tonight, cellar spider, a beautiful Hedgehog out the front tonight and phone photos of the nice abundant purple flowers at Winchester Cathedral and plane tree and pretty purple roses I enjoyed seeing in Abbey Gardens.

Woodpigeon and Feral Pigeon at the cathedral, a Robin heard singing beautifully at Abbey Gardens, Long-tailed Tit, common mallow, ragwort and fleabane at Lakeside and ivy-leaved toadflax and hemp agrimony in Winchester were other highlights today.
