on perfectionism

There's a difference between striving for self-improvement and being a perfectionist. Working hard to do a good job or to be a better person is laudable. Being a perfectionist makes those things harder to accomplish.

The goal of being "perfect" isn't to improve, it's to avoid shame. If you're aiming for "perfect" instead of "better" then you're probably full of self-doubt and constantly worried about disappointing yourself and/or others. These negative emotions make it harder to take risks and try new things. They make it harder to experiment or to reach beyond your current skill level.

Perfectionists also spend their time focused on the end result. This means that they lose a lot of learning during the process or journey they took on their way to finishing. It also means they can fall into a trap of procrastination. If it's never finished then they'll never be judged for doing a bad job.

If you have perfectionist tendencies, you probably learned them from those around you. Either they are perfectionists and expect you to be one too or their actions pressured you into trying to be perfect in order to escape some form of pain.

Are you constantly being told that you're not good enough? That the things you do aren't done well enough? Are you punished severely for every mistake that you make? Are people always comparing you to someone else who's "better" than you are and asking why you aren't like them?

Perfectionism is a way of protecting yourself from those kinds of attacks and the way they make you feel.

Getting out of the loop of perfectionism takes a lot of time and practice and might also require the help of a therapist. But there are some things you can try to help you ease out of it, at least a little bit.

Give yourself the positive feedback you aren't getting from others. Positive self-talk and encouragement can counter some of the negativity you're otherwise being exposed to.

Allow yourself to make mistakes in areas of your life where those negative people aren't involved. Perhaps even do it in complete privacy at first. Make a mistake and feel the shame and disappointment, but follow that up with positive self-talk. Congratulate yourself on taking a step away from perfectionism. Find something beautiful or funny in the mistake. Realize that you're still okay, even though you aren't perfect.

And above all, remind yourself that your value doesn't come from being perfect. It doesn't come from the things you produce or the actions you do to support others. Your value is inherent and immutable. You're worthy because you exist. You are here and you are wonderful and you are loved. ❤️

After so long cooking, here is my dish delivered to you. This is an AU (alternative universe) involving the Greek mythology of Olympus. I will remind you that the relationships between characters do not follow those of the gods of mythology 🤏🤓

●How was it conceived? (and how he is Ume's brother)

(Purahahime is a name invented to refer to Gyutaro and Ume's mother)

The Purahahime was a woman of low status on Olympus, she could live her life without worries, but she craved too much to be praised by a good-looking God. She wanted to impress him anyway, she was nothing extraordinary, so she decided to have a child, even if it wasn't his, if it was strong enough it would definitely attract attention, that all the deities would know its name. She tried several times before Gyutaro began to be prepared, in better words, cursed, with the most diverse plagues so that his abilities would go to the limit, without thinking about what his body would end up looking like. The result of the various experiments, it was already a miracle that he was able to be born, but his appearance was deplorable, like a dark and soft amalgam.

●What is his relationship with the others on Olympus?

He detests several people, especially Tengen, the God of wine and parties, he continually throws his festivities that for Gyutaro feel like the ground is shaking, his sensitive ears making his head pound in pain, making it impossible for him to work. Also due to envy, he is always surrounded by his three wives in addition to the countless number of nymphs and goddesses who aspire to the position of “wife number four”, in his words.

Tanjiro, the son of the Sun, just how he screams irritates him a lot, but he doesn't hate him, it's just unpleasant how he always manages to break the divine artifacts that Gyutaro prepares with so much care, the way Tanjiro is always friendly and always smiling is intimidating too , his eyes seem to stare into Gyutaro's soul, he would destroy him if Tanjiro's younger sister wasn't Ume's close friend.

Gyutaro has a deformed body from birth, but he eats little of everything his body needs, leaving him weak. However, he eats “enough” to stay upright and working.

As for those who claim that Nuzi is now canon or will do anything to rub it towards envy shippers, no matter what Uzi or N does?

No, it’s not. Nothing is confirmed. Hand holding or blushing does not immediately mean romantic feelings. Platonic relationships are a thing but unfortunately, that is often overlooked because “they need to be something more than friends, they need a deeper relationship” as if friendship is somehow less important.

Blushing doesn’t just mean having romantic feelings for others. There are so many reasons as to why a person blushes. It’s not just for one thing.

Both Uzi and N are socially awkward in their own ways. They are both, in a way still practicing their social skills. N was constantly killing folks and Uzi was an outcast - both are new to this.

Quite frankly? With how the fandom behaves I sincerely hope that neither envy or nuzi becomes canon and that they leave it up to interpretation because that would be the best thing to do with how this clown show is getting out of hand. Honestly? It is way too early for any romance to happen between them to begin with. Right now, they have other worries.

I promise you, it is not the end of the world if Nuzi becomes canon or not. It is not the end of the world if envy becomes canon or not. You find other shows that you can obsess your ships over, because it’s obvious you don’t care about the show, the characters, the plot or the mysteries.

The news that Jade broke up with the Ramshackle perfect spread like wildfire as someone overheard the Octavinelle trio's conversation from the other day.

And the reactions of those who heard the news vary:

But he wasn't too worried at all because he already considered this as a part of his plan.

Ace made fun of you and even Deuce told you to study harder. Grim knows you worked hard but just thinks you fell asleep in the exam.

No one believes you when you said you answered the questions perfectly.

- You somehow made the vegetables from Epel's hometown go bad when all you were doing was trying to deliver those to him. Epel misunderstood you and made a ruckus.

- The Savannaclaw students bullied you for being magic less staying in NRC when you didn't even want to come to this twisted world in the first place.

Slowly but surely she understood what living without Jade's protection is like.

So, you finally accepted him back.

Monthly Update - January 2024

​ Hello everyone once again! I hope you've had an amazing start to the year. Whether you celebrated it in a big way or with something much quieter, I hope there was no shortage of food! Now, that's definitely something Enid would say, hehe :D.

As for the project, after some unexpected complications, I finally published Chapter 8 a few weeks ago! In the end, it turned out longer than I had planned, but I'm getting used to that happening, hahaha! Now it's time to start writing Chapter 9, the last one of this first act! Initially, this chapter seems like it will flow much smoother than the previous one. I usually have a clear image of how each chapter will go and then create a brief summary. In this case, I've expanded the summary a bit more than I usually do, hoping it will help with the writing process. But of course, part of the beauty of creativity lies in the unexpected, both for the good and the bad, so we'll take it step by step each day.

Man, I can barely believe I've reached the end of Act 1. I'm very excited! For several reasons that I can't reveal yet, tempting as it may be, hahaha! I'll just say I have a surprise prepared that I hope you like :D. Besides that surprise, it will finally be time to implement all the changes I had in mind and fix certain things about the characters and the plot here and there, especially in Chapter 2, which I revisited a few days ago, and... let's just say, to all those who read and understood Rayco/Gara and Enid's explanation, congratulations, because I dumped a lot of unnecessary info there for no reason, lol! It's definitely something that needs fixing, and as I mentioned recently, all these changes and revisions will come out alongside Chapter 9.

Finally, there's something important I want to say about this story. Once Chapter 9 is published, a week later, this first act will be available to buy, and the playable demo will be reduced. I still don't know exactly when the demo will be cut, but I was thinking roughly halfway through the story. However, this has brought a small issue too, which is that I don't know how to export it for mobile. I've been experimenting with the Monaca platform, and it looks interesting, but there's something that doesn't quite convince me :/. I've also thought about switching from Twine to ChoiceScript, but it seems confusing and limiting in terms of customization, and no matter how comfortable it is that Hosted Games handles all distribution and such, it’s just a big no for me at first glance. The good thing would be that at least with ChoiceScript you can export your save files from one book to another, which is something you cannot do with Twine or Renpy. Well... you can, actually, but that involves a lot of programming and coding that I have no idea about and if something goes wrong I wouldn’t be able to solve the issues, so it’d be more of a disadvantage than anything else.

Going back to Renpy would be more viable and comfortable for exporting, as I could maintain a single itch.io page. With Twine, I would have to create one for each act to keep the demos separate, and I’m not sure how to feel about that, to be honest :/.

I don't know, I’m just rambling at this point. These are things I'll have to think about since I don't want it to be confusing when playing Remnants. Anyway, I'll do some tinkering and play around a bit with Renpy to see how it feels, and if I'm not convinced, I guess I'll stick with Twine and add an intro for the player to pick all the important choices from Act 1 before continuing with Act 2. I appreciate any suggestions if anyone has them, though :D.

You both knew exactly how this would end. It would fall apart the way it had every other time. It was always great in the beginning, constructing a gilded house of cards together, until one of you, usually him, sent it tumbling down to scattered pieces with either too much accidental force or intentional self-destruction. 

“You’re breaking my fucking heart, baby.”

He knew you were right. It was always his fault. He wanted you, God did he want you, and for a while, he could ignore that little voice in the back of his head telling him he wasn’t good enough for you. He could remember to call to check in and ask how your day was. He could show up at your door on a Wednesday afternoon with a bouquet of flowers he saw in your favorite color that reminded him of you. He could slow dance with you in your kitchen under the spotlight of the moon to only the music playing in your hearts. For a little while, he could pretend.

But then reality would creep in. Javi would get so wrapped up in his job that you wouldn’t hear from him for days. He was never particularly good at expressing anything but anger, so he could never explain how he really felt. He either used the cowardly excuse that his life was too dangerous for you to be involved in, or he’d be a vindictive asshole on purpose to make you resent him, swearing to himself it was for the best. He’d let you go, and he wouldn’t chase after you.

Instead he’d drown his heart at the bar and lose himself in whatever woman he could find. But it didn’t matter how many women he ran through, because everytime he was inside someone, the only face he saw was yours. He wouldn’t call, but he kept tabs on you, and the second he even thought you were attempting to move on from him, he’d start the vicious cycle all over again. Javi would show up at your door with those remorseful eyes you couldn’t ever find the strength to slam your door shut on, and he’d get on his knees and beg for your forgiveness, spew an apology and declaration of love that could put the world’s greatest love songs and sonnets to shame, and seal his apology with a passionate kiss and another empty promise of change. 

“You can’t actually stand here and tell me that you love him.”

“How can I, Javi? How am I ever supposed to even try to fall in love with someone else if you won’t let me? This isn’t fair to me. Everytime we break up, you go and fuck every woman within a five mile radius and I’m supposed to just be okay with that, but when I go on a date, you’re breaking my door down-”
