Why Do You Keep Wearing a Mask and Staying Away From People after Getting the COVID-19 Vaccine?
Tumblr media
As an increasing number of people end up completely vaccinated, many are thinking while lifestyles will go back to normal. But earlier than you ceremoniously throw away your face masks, specialists warn that we’ll want to maintain carrying them some time longer, specifically in public settings.
5 reasons why you should keep wearing a face mask after getting vaccinated
It takes time for the vaccine to kick in. You won’t reach the almost 95% effectiveness charge until two weeks after your second-dose of the vaccine. Since one-of-a-kind our bodies react to the equal vaccine differently, therefore, it's far recommended to maintain carrying the masks and keeping social distance.
Vaccines do not guarantee complete immunity. While the vaccines are extremely successful (and the processing time was nothing short of miraculous), they only provide 94 percent to 95 percent safety. There's no way of knowing who among the 5% of people who don't respond to the vaccine yet are still at risk for COVID-19.
We recognize getting a COVID-19 vaccine reduces the risk that you'll get sick. But even though you’re proof against the disease, you may still be capable of deliver the virus and unfold it to others.
We don't know how long the vaccines will protect you against COVID-19 because they're so fresh.Vaccine protection can deteriorate over time. It's also likely that the corona virus that causes COVID-19 will mutate or improve, requiring the development of a new vaccine. For example, flu virus mutations are one of the reasons why we need new flu vaccines every year.
Most of the people across the nation have not yet received the COVID-19 vaccine. It can be months earlier than sufficient people had been vaccinated to set up herd immunity Until we attain that point, folks that get the vaccine early still want to do the whole thing they could to maintain others safe.
The main reason we wear masks is to protect others. We really need to do it for our loved ones and the community.

Mother
You know how it is to have a toxic mother? I do. I actually think my mother is a narcissist, but she definitely enjoys her victim role. We've had a few fights, but not many, because it always ends the same way. She starts, you say something back- tragedy. As if something horrible just happened to her, she is crying and in general behaving as if she is the biggest victim on the planet.
Since COVID started, she is enjoying being self righteous, she is complaining to whoever wants to listen, and always about the same stuff- how dare people get sick, how dare they not taking care, how dare they spreading the virus... and she knows how to do it with a hateful tone. But when she got a cold- before she got vaccinated- and i told her to get herself tested, she was like " nah, it's nothing". But what if it was COVID. I have to go to work every day and that's exactly how things spread. 🤦🏼‍♀️
She has a heart disease and is constantly reminding people of how fragile she is, ofc everything has to revolve around her. And now again she is using this to be spiteful toward others. And i'm asking her what for, and again she justifies it with " some of us can get sick, i just care about others". No, you don't. Ironically, just a minute before that, we agreed that everyone has to take care of themselves.
She just doesn't understand that being hateful and self righteous won't fix the world, won't fix people and definitely won't change views and opinions that are different than hers.
She actually got a bit nicer after she almost died 2 years ago ( heart). But some things never change. She is now very close to Jesus, according to her words, it was thanks to Jesus and Mary that she is still alive- not the paramedics who came on a sunday morning and 5 doctors who waited extra for her arrival in front of the hospital 🙄
I'm so tired of all this. There is already enough toxic people out there, and here i have to deal with one more close to me. I'm just so tired.

One day, one rhyme- Day 2286
I dreamed of flying caravans,
Pulled by planes, way up high.
I dreamed of traveling with friends,
Holidays in the sky.
I saw patchwork fields far below
Kites trailing out behind,
I spent the day happily on
Holiday in my mind.

Vacation
Not sure how this pandemic is seen as a “vacation?” I’ve spent the last year worried sick. If I went out, I went shopping at night, avoiding assholes that couldn’t be arsed to pull a mask over their big fat noses. I am immunocompromised with asthma, Tig is asthmatic.
I was worried that Tig would lose his job.. luckily he didn’t. Actually, he might get a promotion.
I fought to get into university for nearly 20 years and I can’t even go to my classes.. and I remember the week campus shut down. They told us to get our shit and not come back. For a week or two, we were all confused, and most of our professors were being obnoxious, any studio/lab classes were completed half-assed.. not what any of us wanted.
Any time my throat felt off, a bit scratchy, if I was coughing and sneezing due to allergies, I thought about what I would do if I had Covid. I decided I would stay in my car to make sure no one else got sick. No one would have done the same for me, though if Tig got sick I’d probably never let him stay in a car. He said the same thing but I wouldn’t give him a choice.
And if one of us ended up in the hospital, we couldn’t be there for each other. I couldn’t touch him or kiss him, no matter which one of us was sick. We’d have to talk over Skype or something, terrified that the other wouldn’t make it, scared and alone.
And if one of us didn’t make it, we will have never touched each other again. The sick one would.. die alone. Like.. I’m tearing up just thinking about it.
We sat watching as the virus came closer and closer, hearing about people dying, friends and relatives.. any time anyone had to go to the hospital (which seemed to happen a lot right now), we were freaked out. Are they ok? Do they have to stay? Will they bring Covid back to us? I personally refused to go to the ER, even when I thought my gallbladder may have needed to be removed.
At one point, stress was added by a wildfire that almost took my home. We were evacuated and the fire got SO CLOSE to the house. For days we didn’t know if it was still there. Being evacuated and staying with people during a pandemic was scary.
On top of all of this, the depression and anxiety started building up to the point where I wanted to die. There seemed to be no end in sight.
Then the rioting, the chaos of the last election, watching as a group of lunatics stormed our capital building in DC and our narc “leader” cheered them on. The fact that we lived with MAGA idiots who attacked us every time they got the chance. Knowing a lot of the BLM people weren’t even for BLM, they were just basking in the chaos and/or causing more, not helping.
California went on lockdown on 3/19/2020. Today, 7/12/2021, I sit in the Starbucks on Main St for the first time in a year and 4 months.. I’m vaccinated and I feel like things might be getting back to normal. I keep trying to go places because I’m so restless which is stupid. I feel so relieved ever since I got my vaccination, though. I am sad to have Tig go back to work, but I am also strangely relieved.
But yeah.. a vacation. -_-

Quick Update
Tumblr media
Hello to those of you out there who have followed me and then wondered where the hell I've gone. There's about a dozen of you, I think, maybe more. This post's for you, a meager "Thank You" for waiting--patiently or not.
The weather is finally turning into spring here in Ottawa, a warm spring where a man can exercise his varicose veins without having to don parka and scarf. It has been unseasonably cold this April and May, so the warm weather is welcome. Now if the wind would just calm down a bit, all would be well.
I have booked appointments for my COVID-19 vaccinations. I have to admit that I got a little emotional when the confirmation email showed up in my inbox. It's been a long year for all of us with many people facing harder challenges than me, but the confirmation came with a sense of relief that an end is coming--an end to the stress and worry that accompanies each visit to the grocery store or the pharmacy, each elevator ride, each encounter with a person not in my social bubble. The vaccinations are not a guarantee against infection, but they are a measure of protection, an upgrade to my immune system, so it can mount a better defense in the event that I do get exposed.
My writing took a backseat over the last couple months as I geared up to move. Moving during a pandemic is not easy. My family and friends wanted to help, which is appreciated, but we're all supposed to be locked down, distancing ourselves from each other, keeping the spread to a minimum. How can we keep that up if we're buzzing back and forth to pack stuff, move boxes, and clean up stuff? I packed up the entire apartment myself, accompanied the movers to the new place, and unpacked everything myself. I still have a few boxes left, a few pictures to hang, a few (hundred) books to sort through and shelve (or discard). As much as I wanted to write when I wasn't working or packing, there just wasn't the time or the energy, but that time has past and things are finally settling down nicely. There is time now to sit and think and create. More posts coming soon!
