Dare of the Day 4 — Ask to get my food for free

I was quite nervous for this one because I asked at a cafe that I frequent. They said no. It would have been really delightful if they went for it, but my goal was just to ask.

It would have been cool if I had pushed back a little when they asked me what this was all about instead of immediately folding. Maybe one day I’ll be confident enough to just keep it up instead of instantly saying “oh it’s just for a dare of the day.”

It’s kinda silly how asking for something like that might be seen as offensive, right? Anyway. I talked to my life coach and I’m also going to choose something to celebrate every day when I post this challenge.

So today I’m celebrating that even though I let myself sleep in, I still made it to the gym. I posted TWO TikToks, I did my laundry, I did my life coaching session, and I started drawing a little mandala.

Dracula, Daily, Done!

We did it! We've reached November 6th! The Time Loop resets itself anew We've finished Dracula!

At a rough estimate, I've churned out about 155 individual sketches since May 3rd for this little daily sketch project. Who knew a roughly six month/400 page novel could be so long?

Thank you so so much to everyone who's stopped by and liked, reblogged, commented or followed! Your support was wonderful and desperately appreciated. It's been a joy to participate in Dracula Daily properly this year. This book means so much to me, and getting to share it in art form has been a fantastic, cathartic challenge.

I have plans to maybe go in, fix up a few of the more rushed/wonky drawings, and possibly produce a little Dracula zine featuring all the sketches in chronological order + some selected painted scenes, but we'll see how that shakes out!

For now, thank you all so much again. I hope you stick around now the Dracula party's ended. I have a new story with Big Finish coming out in December for the Eleventh Doctor, and a few secret projects arriving in 2024, so there's plenty in store!

I loved doing today’s dare. It reminded me of first grade when my classmates and I used to compete, in a friendly way, to have the best grades so we’d be the leaders. I think being a student leader is an important role.

I do sometimes struggle with standing out, being different from others, or being at the center of attention. It took me a lot of courage to even start posting about myself and my life 5ish years ago. I remember how nervous I was when I first started going live on TikTok, too. Or when I first started doing karaoke.

As a kid, though, I looooved being on stage and performing and being the best in my class. I was very proud of trying and being good at things and helping others around me improve. My sister and I agree that I lost my sparkle when I moved to the states. I feel like in recent years I’ve been working very hard to re-create it and remove any blocks I’ve built up around it.

I work at my job allll day tomorrow so I’m hoping I can come up with a good dare to do in my sleep! I want to be careful about doing any dares at work or related to it because I don’t want them to compromise my job in any way, so I usually try to do them outside of my job. But since I’m a double tomorrow I get to be extra creative!

Today’s wins: I planned my week, I went to yoga, I cooked myself an amaaaazing and delicious lunch, I love my make up look, I made great money at work, and I bought myself tickets to Beyoncé’s concert in Barcelona as a Valentine’s Day gift to myself!
