A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?

I guarantee you he wants to do nothing but relax with you. He's always working so he'd definitely want to just cuddle up with you and relax, to get off of his feet and watch a funny movie.

B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

He would definitely admire your patience. I mean, you literally put up with him being away from crazy amounts of time, time that you shouldn't have to deal with alone.

C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

He wouldn't always here there to help so he mastered the ability to calm you down just from his voice, quietly speaking to you through the phone to try to get you to calm down to tell him what's wrong or what happened.

D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

He really wanted to retire from the BAU and get a quaint desk job with the FBI or something in that realm. He would eventually get tired of traveling so much, leaving you alone. Especially if you guys wanted kids, he couldn't travel so much and you both were on the same page with that.

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

Genuinely, I think he'd be the more passive one. He's a quiet, funny guy. He doesn't just speak to speak and he doesn't just speak to be loud or to make noise. Every word that came out of his mouth, typically, is really thought through.

F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

He hated to fight but it happened a lot in his relationships, including yours. It pretty much always came down to his job or his safety. He would forgive you easily but he didn't want you to forgive him so easily. He wanted you to hold him accountable since you were the one being hurt most of the time.

G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

The most grateful. He had a bad way of expressing it but he tried his best. He would do it in subtle ways with little texts or sometimes, when he's away, ordering your favorite food and sending it to your home, surprising you.

H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?

He didn't like to keep secrets because he knew they were the end all of most relationships. He didn't want to give you a reason to leave him and he didn't want to ever upset you so he tried to tell you everything.

I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

You would definitely help him want to settle down a bit more. He's no longer this bachelor, he had a person to come home to and to plan a future with. It changed his mindset of how he thinks of his career and his over all safety. He's much more careful on the job now, avoiding just running into situations.

J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

He would get jealous but only when he was away. He would be insecure of the fact that you're alone a lot and he's not there to remind you that you were his or to even give you a reason to want to be his. That would go away with time though, I'm sure of it.

K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

So timid. He'd probably ask you out loud before kissing you even though you knew you wanted to kiss him and you definitely would've seen it coming from miles away.

L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

Shyly, he's a big bashful boy. You would probably know what he wanted to tell you before the words came out of his mouth just from his nervous expression and bashful glances away from you.

M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

It would be sweet, maybe at the spot of your first date, him dropping down onto his knee, taking you completely by surprise. Or he would be a brat and pop the question in the middle of an argument. I see that happening lol. The marriage would be much simpler compared to you guys dating, for some reason it made everything seem a bit more worth it; his job, the traveling, the fighting.

N icknames - What do they call their s/o?

Definitely a babygirl/baby type of guy. Duh.

He would also call you 'woman' playfully, sometimes to even break the tension if need be because it always made you laugh.

O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

He knew from pretty early on that he loved you. He'd want you to know and not keep it in so he would shyly tell you that he was really falling for you fast. The first person in his group to pick up on his shift would be Spencer, asking him 'what changed' and then that would get everyone else in on it, prying until Luke tells everyone.

P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

He would be all over you the minute he's home. Like hugged you, kissing you, the second that he gets in the door or gets off of the plane. He needed to be close to you and with you while he could, that is, until he gets pulled away again.

Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.

He is very soft spoken and he doesn't like to yell. So even when you guys would bicker or have arguments, they were calm most of the time and it never got too heated to the point where it makes you upset. That was the last thing he wanted.

R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

He would be very cliche to make up for lost time. He'd want to bury you in kisses and your favorite flowers, catching up for all the things he missed, especially missed anniversaries. He knew you well enough to knew whether you liked to go out or stay in, so he would play it by ear to sweep you off your feet.

S upport - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?

He's really supportive, even if he's sometimes only supportive from afar. He likes to hear you excited voicemails that you leave him that he listens to when he gets back to the hotel of whatever state he's currently in. He wants you to know that even if he isn't there, that he still supports you and wants you to succeed.

T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

There wasn't really much room to veer off of your normal routine. You pretty much had to follow his work schedule and you didn't get much of a choice. You tried to fill your own schedule with things that made you happy, distracting yourself from the obvious which was the lack of boyfriend beside you.

U nderstanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

He tried to be understanding and empathetic to the fact that you always felt a lot of pressure. He didn't like when you were upset, especially when it came to him being away for so long. He knew that you had every reason to be upset most of the time so he cut you as much slack as he could.

V alue - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?

You'd be so incredibly important to him, one of the most important things in his life. He cared for his family more than anything, next to his work of course. All he knew is that he needed you and he was constantly afraid of losing you.

W ild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.

I definitely think that he'd be the type to need to go to couples counseling with his partner. He would just struggle with expressing how he feels between the pressure he feels from you and his job.

X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?

He's very affectionate, his face tucked in the crook of your neck, his arms firmly wrapped around your waist. He just liked to breathe you in, to be close to you.

Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

He misses you often, but he's not always in the position to be with you or even call you, caught up with his job. You knew that he would always make it up to you the minute he was home, not leaving your arms for days.

Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lenghts for the relationship? If so, what kind of?

Anything that didn't jeopardize his job. You were both well aware that he was married to his work and this definitely came in between you guys a lot. You'd figure it out but you'd be lying if you said it didn't bother you more than you led on.

Arataki ‘The One and Oni’ Itto vs. Tartaglia, the 11th Fatui Harbinger (AKA Itto and Childe Power Fantasy Trips Only Whales Can Afford)

Y’all, I have a burning question that’s been bothering me for a while now.

Who would win in a fight?

Tartaglia or Arataki Itto?

The rest is below the tag and story spoilers for both of them will be mentioned. Don’t say I didn’t warn you this time.

Introduction:

Yes, this was unprompted. No, no one asked. And I’m doing it anyways.

(There’s a TL;DR at the bottom of this chonky post if you want it.)

Notes and Disclaimers:

Firstly and foremostly, most of my information comes from the hard work of the Genshin Impact wiki editors, so it’s thanks to them that I can bring this to you today.

Secondly, there’s a lot of numbers and terminology incoming, so I’ll do my best to summarize it and explain it well. It’ll mostly be percentages and base numbers we have to work with. In terms of the system that the wiki has at this present moment, some of these statistics may have been adjusted, so pardon if the numbers seem off for the current version of the game at the time of this post being published.

Lastly, the statistics and numbers that are being brought into question are will include all constellations, at the highest level possible, with their preferred and specialized weapons, and being treated as a Main DPS. However, artifacts will not be taken into account for the sake of this analysis. It would be grossly unfair otherwise and the point is that they are fighting each other anyways, so the weapons and the individual skills are being put to the test.

With that, lets jump right into it!

Gameplay Statistics:

Before we get into this, I should probably explain the damage economy of Genshin Impact. To put it simply, the damage economy is calculated in this function:

Attack - the base attack damage from the character and the weapon of the character (including all of their skills, buffs from weapons, and all that good stuff) Talent Scaling - the combat talents and passive talents that enhance the character’s respective combative abilities Damage Bonus - the types of damage (plunging, charged, etc.) and their respective bonuses per according to the character Critical Hit - randomized and influenced by the critical rate Defense (on target) - reduces damage per according to their base defense Resistances (on target) - reduces damage per according to their elemental and physical attributes Elemental Reactions - the way that the element(s) being used will react to the element(s) it comes into contact with

With this established, it will make sense when I do my calculations. I will make the link to this madness available so you can look at all the fancy formulas and solutions they’re using yourself (further links are in the wiki article itself).

Going forward, the three most important statistics for both characters in this scenario are: Attack Damage (ATK), Defense (DEF), and Critical Hit Rate (CRIT Rate). These three stats are the defining pillars of a character’s effectiveness when dealing with all sorts of opponents. I will also be taking their health points into consideration, but they will not have as much bearing on the results as I think that they wouldn’t just stand around and wait to get hit.

Attack damage is the damage they deal with their hits, defense is how much a hit from an opponent can be reduced, and critical hit rate is how often they land a critical hit, the critical hit itself dealing 50% more damage than a typical one.

With all of this brought to light, allow me to finally plug some character stats into this with our respective topics of interest.

Base Character Statistics:

Without any account for weaponry, special attributes, or artifacts, the base statistics for the both of them at the highest level possible (Level 90) are as follows:

Arataki Itto -

Health Points: 12,858 Attack: 227 Defense: 959 Critical Hit Rate: 19.2%

Tartaglia (Childe) -

Health Points: 13,103 Attack: 301 Defense: 815 Critical Hit Rate: 28.8%

So, just looking at the basic numbers, you can say that Childe is much more based on aggressive offense than Itto due to his higher attack damage and critical hit rate. However, Itto’s defensive capability is notably higher than Childe’s, meaning that based on these numbers alone, Childe may or may not have to hit more times to take him down.

These pressing questions and theoretic scenarios drags us into the wonderful world of combat talents, and passive talents.

Grab a drink and some snacks. This might take a bit.

Combat Talents and Passive Talents:

Combat Talents consist of four things: Normal Attacks, Elemental Skills, Alternate Sprint, and Elemental Bursts.

Normal Attacks come into three types: Normal Attack, Charged Attack, and Plunge Attack, each with their own respective effects. Normal Attacks are consecutive blows, Charged Attacks typically include either Elemental Damage or increased Physical Damage, and the Plunge Attack occur from mid-air and typically cause an ‘Area of Effect’ (AoE).

The ‘Alternate Sprint’ skill doesn’t include Itto or Childe, so it won’t be mentioned here.

Their Combat Talents are as follows:

Arataki Itto -

Special Base Skill: Superlative Superstrength Stacks (Every second and fourth hit adds one or two stacks; the maximum of five can be stacked) Normal Attack: Fight Club Legend (Four consecutive strikes; every other hit is a stack); Arataki Kesagiri slashes (consumes stacks instead of stamina; upon the last stack being used, a final devastating slash is delivered); normal plunge attacks Elemental Skill: Masatsu Zetsugi: Akaushi Burst! (Ushi the bull hits the target with Geo Damage, whatever Ushi hits is one stack, whatever hits Ushi is one stack, when Ushi hits 0 is one stack, essentially a stack farm) Elemental Burst: Royal Descent: Behold, Itto the Evil! (Normal Attacks are converted to Geo Damage, ATK is increased based on DEF, every first and third hit grants him a stack, decreases Physical and Elemental Resistance by 20%)

Tartaglia (Childe) -

Special Base Skill: Riptide Riptide Flash: Anything hit with a charged arrow is dealt consecutive bouts of AoE Damage Riptide Burst: Killing something affected by Riptide creates a Hydro burst that inflicts Riptide status on anything it hits Normal Attack: Cutting Torrent (Six consecutive shots); Aimed Shot with higher Damage, Hydro Damage and the application of the Riptide status Elemental Skill: Foul Legacy: Raging Tide (Normal Attacks are converted to Hydro Damage) Elemental Burst: Havoc: Obliteration Ranged Stance - Flash of Havoc: Fires a AoE Hydro-infused arrow, immediately applying the Riptide status while retaining 15% of the energy spent Melee Stance - Light of Obliteration: One slash with unholy AoE and devastating Hydro Damage Riptide Blast: When hit by something with Riptide status, triggers an explosion of AoE Hydro Damage

Look, if you don’t want to look at this anymore, you can take an hour break. I need one right now, but I’m a sadomasochist for analysis.

Itto’s entire base build is dependent on hitting things. If he hits, he essentially crits without hitting the actual crit. The stacks that he uses to power many of his attacks can come back while he’s attacking with them. The deciding factor is if he can hit it and how consecutive those hits are.

Childe’s base build, on the other hand, is heavily centered around AoE Damage. If he manages to use the Riptide effect to it’s full use, the enemy will be overwhelmed by sheer force. The deciding factor is the reaction and resistance to Hydro Damage and the Riptide status effect.

Passive Talents typically improve upon the Combat Talents of the respective character in question. The Utility Passives are not to be taken into account for the reasons that they have no reason being in a battle royale.

Their Passive Talents are as follows:

Arataki Itto -

1st Ascension Passive: Each slash increases the attack speed of the next slash by 10%, with the maximum increasing by 30% while also increasing the resistance to interruption 4th Ascension Passive: Arataki Kesagiri (normal attack) is increased by 35% of his DEF

Tartaglia (Childe) -

1st Ascension Passive: Extends the duration of the Riptide status effect 4th Ascension Passive: In Foul Legacy: Raging Tide’s Melee Stance, when he makes a critical hit, Normal and Charged Attacks apply the Riptide status effect.

When these respective traits are as matched and insane as they are, I shudder to know that they can be enhanced even further by their respective weapons and constellations.

Feel free to rip out your eyeballs. I want to, but the show goes on.

Constellations & Weapons:

Constellations, put simply, increase the overall effectiveness, damage-dealing, and damage-taking these guys can do, and boy does it fucking do.

Their respective constellations and their effects are as follows:

Arataki Itto -

Stay a While and Listen Up:

After using the Elemental Burst, two stacks are given automatically, with one stack every half second until 1.5 seconds have passed

Gather 'Round, It's a Brawl!:

After using the Elemental Burst, every Geo party member can restore six energy towards his next one, the max being 18 (N/A)

Horns Lowered, Coming Through:

Increases the level of the Elemental Skill by three, the maximum upgrade being 15

Jailhouse Bread and Butter:

When the Elemental Burst effect ends, all nearby party members gain 20% DEF and 20% Attack for ten seconds (N/A)

10 Years of Hanamizaka Fame:

Increases the level of the Elemental Burst by 3, the maximum upgrade level being 15

Arataki Itto, Present!:

Charged Attacks deal +70% Critical Hit Damage

Tartaglia (Childe) -

Foul Legacy - Tide Withholder:

Decreases the cooldown of the Elemental Skill by 20%

Foul Legacy - Understream:

When opponents affected by Riptide are defeated, regenerates four Elemental Energy

Abyssal Mayhem - Vortex of Turmoil:

Increases the level of the Elemental Skill by three, the maximum upgrade level being 15

Abyssal Mayhem - Hydrospout:

If in an Elemental Burst (Raging Tide's Melee Stance) triggers Riptide Slash against opponents affected by Riptide every four seconds, otherwise, triggers Riptide Flash

Havoc - Formless Blade:

Increases the level of the Elemental Burst by three, the maximum upgrade level being 15

Havoc - Annihilation:

When the Elemental Burst is cast in Melee Stance, the cooldown of the Elemental Skill resets; this effect will only take place once back to Ranged Stance

These constellations are wonderful and dangerously effective, but these are only covering the flat stats. We haven’t even covered the enhancing and ascension of their weapons yet! Has this turned into a showcase instead of a competition lmao

The weapons discussed here have the following stats at their highest ascension (Level 90) and their highest refinement rank (Level 5) respectively:

Redhorn Stonethresher (Arataki Itto):

Attack: 542 Second Stat Type: Critical Hit Damage Second Stat: 88.2% Gokadaiou Otogibanashi: DEF is increased by 56%; Normal and Charged Attack Damage is increased by 80% of DEF

Polar Star (Tartaglia/Childe):

Attack: 608 Second Stat Type: Critical Hit Rate Second Type: 33.2% Daylight's Augury: Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst Damage increased by 24%; when it hits, 1 stack of Ashen Nightstar will be gained for twelve seconds. When 1/2/3/4 stacks of Ashen Nightstar are present, Attack Damage is increased by 20/40/60/96%; the stack of Ashen Nightstar created by the hit will be counted independently of the others

I can’t feel my eyes anymore.

Based on all of the information concerning talents, skills, constellations, and weapons, you have two vastly different fighters with their own distinct advantages (stacks and Riptide) and disadvantages (decreased resistance, Hydro-centric), but here is what I notice about the builds themselves:

Itto is built to be the most offensive defense possible. Any elemental reactions are immediately reduced by his heavy defense (Geo is also noticeably defensible), and though his CRIT Rate isn’t as high as Childe’s, when he crits, things die, as his heavy defense is added to all the bonuses on top of his base build.

However, like I said before: all of this depends on if he hits. If he can’t hit, he is immediately rendered useless in every single capacity that was gone through in extensive length. His only salvation in that case would be Ushi, but at a certain point, even that won’t be enough to use him to the max.

Childe is built for an overwhelming offense that quickly crushes the enemy through sheer power. The constellation for him specifically points to this as it enhances how fast Childe is able to use his Elemental Burst and how much Damage it can deal.

Although this build is cracked straight to hell and back, it has one comical weakness: most of these benefits are built on overwhelming Hydro Damage. The fact that he gets little to no buffs for his physical damage without the Polar Star is depressing, and I’m sure Childe mains are well aware of this.

Now that we have their stats covered, lets take it a step further and give these stats some realism, shall we?

Character, Story, & Lore:

TURN BACK NOW IF YOU DON’T WANNA GET FUCKING SPOILED

There’s spoilers for stories in the beginning but in case you aren’t aware, here’s another warning for you.

Anyways, the two of them come from drastically different backgrounds that need to be addressed as to explain why they got strong and why they fight.

Itto is part oni in Inazuma, and as such, was a frequent target for maltreatment, discrimination and (dare I fucking say on the Internet) cultural racism. Despite the fact that his parents died cast aside by society and by pestilence, he did not let this affect him in his spirit at all. This spirit would come to aid him as without it, he wouldn’t have survived long enough to be taken in by the named ‘Granny Oni’ and to be able to put those ideals of equality and respect among the humans into practice. As a delinquent.

He’s my favorite dumbass I swear-

So despite the fact that he’s a public annoyance at best (except to the Tenryou Commission), he’s extremely popular with the townsfolk. They don’t even call him ‘oni’ in the derogatory term (Sara literally calls him Arataki Itto in the trailer), so he’s damn principled if he’s a part of that reason why.

These attributes are covered under the loud, brash, and prideful personality, one that he essentially earned because of how strong he is. He does all sorts of odd jobs that involve intensive menial and he actively works on getting stronger. The man was even deprived of his Vision, and yet this didn’t stop him at all. Despite his immense oni-endowed strength, he never uses it for malice or cruelty. Everything that force is used for is purely in self-defense (the fucking trailer).

In summary: once he sets his mind on something, he will not be dissuaded from it, but will relent if it brings harms to others.

This brings us to his polar opposite.

Childe was a son in a large, loving family who lived in a cold remote village in Snezhnaya who had a largely regular childhood given those circumstances. Childe was always rearing to become something greater than he was, and the stories of heroes from before his time fed into the wish he had to become some kind of a shounen protagonist. Unfortunately, this wish was granted in the most twisted way possible.

As he left to trek through the landscape, only to be chased by wolves and fucking fall into the Abyss, he came across a creature that was described as a master of combat and became it’s apprentice, becoming a force to be reckoned with. Once he crawled out, three months of training under his belt (though only three days had passed), he was never the same.

He was also 14 at the time.

Y’all he was sent to the Snezhnayan equivalent of boot camp and instead of getting some respect beaten into him, he was beating a royal ass-kicking into anyone who challenged him. He was no longer the ambitious little shit of his childhood, he was a clout chaser that actually got the clout he needed to make those ambitions reality by joining the Fatui and becoming a Harbinger.

Like Itto, he makes himself stronger, but unlike Itto, he has the morals of a spinning wheel, picking whichever one works for whatever the hell he’s doing as long as he gets stronger. Where Itto is simply prideful and will fight in defense of his own ideals, Childe is sadomasochistic and will fight anything that breathes to the point of death.

The only reason he’s using a bow is because he wants to ‘master it’.

He fucking scares me.

. . .

So with that out of the way, who would win in a fight?

The Way That It Would Go:

Childe would absolutely instigate this. A positive. He would hear about a strong-ass oni in Inazuma and laws be damned, he would go and fight him unless the Tsaritsa told him specifically not to.

Itto would genuinely tell him that he’s wasting his time, but then Childe would say something along the lines of “Well I heard that oni were strong and powerful but if you’re the best they have to offer then I’m disappointed” and it would be against his pride as an oni, if not his damn ethos, to let that insult stand.

(This is assuming the both of them don’t get arrested on sight lmao)

Childe would goad him on, daring him to hit him, and to his eternal shock, he absolutely hits him. And it fucking hurts. Yes, I know Childe needs some range for his bow, but it’s established that he’s reckless as fuck. As soon as he’s struck, he starts taking it seriously. Jumps back to get that bit of range and unloads those shots on the crimson oni. Hey, it bothers Itto, it hurts him but despite the stats, other stats say it doesn’t hurt not as much as you would think.

And despite the barrage, he is absolutely going towards the source of it and will attempt to hit him again. Between trying to get that range and trying to hit him, it will be an impasse with the both of them being relentless. Their respective stamina would go down significantly and soon enough, they stop for a brief moment, space in between them once again.

At this point, Itto would probably bust Ushi out, honestly. And Childe would be riled enough to snipe him as he barreled over with a signle Charged Attack, effectively sniping him out of existence. This, however, has given Itto the advantage of a single stack, so he runs at Childe with a single powerful slash.

Depending on if this one hit connects, this battle is decisively in Itto’s favor, so let’s say it does as Childe was distracted by the bull (which is how he works). MORE DAMAGE. This oni seriously hurts like a bitch, but Childe isn’t done just yet, as he’s only getting started. He leaps back, charges his shot, and immediately inflicts Itto with the devastating Riptide status effect.

This hurts Itto a bit. He feels it enough that Childe has the time to fire another charged shot at him. This hurts as the area of impact starts to throb with pain. Childe, seizing this opportunity, fucking unloads, activating his Foul Legacy: Raging Tide and brutalizing the ever-loving fuck out of Itto, even using some of his Hydro-infused melee attacks.

Itto, however, has one last card to play here. During the barrage, in one particularly heavy slash, he smacks Childe out of the way during one of his melee attacks, somewhat disrupting him and immediately goes into his Elemental Burst. Childe does manage to strike him again, and he notices the connection, but the oni doesn’t seem to care that much anymore.

The hits start to connect and as they do, the hits get harder and faster in concession, soon enough, he can’t parry and he starts to get absolutely bludgeoned by this man. If he thought that his hits were rough before, he wasn’t hit with shit. And he keeps going. At some point, he’s just trying to mitigate the blows, but the barrage stops, Itto deciding that that’s enough.

Unfortunately for him, the instant he stops, it’s Havoc Time.

That Melee Stance Attack is enough to take Itto the fuck out. Oneshotted. Done. Man’s cleared him. Clowned him with sheer damage. He’s in bed for a a month.

He was in his least defensive state. Childe was in his most offensive position.

The oni is fucking done.

TL;DR:

Yes. I’m saying it. Itto may be my favorite, but if this was a battle to unconsciousness, it’s not like Itto would knock him out willingly. They are both more than willing to push themselves physically and mentally, and they most certainly have some of the most powerful abilities, stacks, and percentages in the game, but at the end of the day, Itto’s morals were his boon in this battle, and in terms of morals, Childe has no morals.

Of course, this isn’t going to stop Itto from putting him on his “Going To Get Stronger For A Rematch” list alongside a certain ‘Kujou Tengu’.

A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?

-Nagito loves being able to just spend time with or around his SO. I feel like one of his favorite things would be quiet dates while cuddling and just enjoying each others company.

-Nagito would love to do quiet activities with his SO like reading outside or going for walks on sunny days.

B eauty- What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

-....This man you guys.... Nagito would believe every inch of his SO is the most beautiful thing in the universe! Nagito would adore his SO in all of their being.

-If his SO is insecure about something, you’d better believe he’s going to spend the next few hours telling you about how much he adores every bit of you and how your so called “flaws” are really just what make you even more beautiful.

-Although, Nagito is more of one to fall in love with his SO for who they are, rather than what they look like. I think he finds his SO’s kindness to be the most beautiful thing about them.

C omfort- How would they help their S/O when they feel down/have a panic attack?

-Nagito can read his SO like a novel. When he notices them starting to spiral, you’d better believe he’ll be there with his arms open. Nagito has had more than his fair share of panic attacks, so he’s also pretty quick to realize when his SO starts to spiral.

-He starts out by pulling you into his arms and repeating sweet nothings as well as reminders that you are safe.

-After you calm down, he’d ask you if you’d want to talk about it, and he’d hands down be the best listener when it came to needing a listening ear.

-If you don’t want to talk about it, that’s completely fine! Nagito would spend the rest of the day telling you how much he loves you and would probably be watching your comfort shows/movies with you.

D reams- How do they picture their future with their s/o?

-Honestly, Nagito never even would’ve thought he would’ve gotten this far. His luck has blessed him with an angel.

-He’s hesitant about planning ahead too much, because he’s afraid his bad luck will jinx everything.

-But deep down, Nagito would be happy as long as you loved him forever, and he got the chance to love you forever <3

E qual- Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

-Nagito overall is pretty passive, most of the time he lets his SO make decisions because for a while, he didn’t believe he was good enough to be making decisions.

-It took a lot of love and convincing on your part to remind him that you are equals in your relationship and you wanted his input.

-Even after he brings to make suggestions for date ideas and such, he would always seem to want your approval. Give it to him. Give it to him now

F ight- Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

-Honestly, fights with Nagito are about as rare as they come.

-I honestly find it hard to believe Nagito would really have true fights with his SO.

-When/if they do fight though, usually it would be about Nagito’s SO trying to help him with his self depreciation.

G rattitude- How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

- Nagito is beyond grateful for his SO! He’ll let you know every second he gets the chance to as well!

-“SO, I truly am lucky to be graced with your beautiful hope every day”

- Nagito is more than aware of what his SO is doing for him and honestly feels guilty at first. He thinks he doesn’t deserve you, but overtime that insecurity fades

H onesty- Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?

-I think Nagito would be a mostly open book with his SO, although it would take a while for him to open up to them.

- Once he’s comfortable, I believe he would tell his SO just about anything

I nspiration- Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helping them over some personal problems?

-I think we all are aware of Nagito’s self depreciation by now.

- It took a long time, but eventually you were able to help him break this hateful way of thinking.

-Anytime he would say he was trash or unworthy, you would step in with complimenting him instead

-“Are you really sure it’s okay for trash like me to touch you?”

-“Nagito, I think you’re beautiful. And yes, I’m completely sure.”

J ealousy- Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

-Nagito does get jealous easily, but not in the traditional sense.

-For instance, if he sees his SO spending time or talking with someone else, he goes back to self deprecating.

-When he gets like this, he does one of two things

1) distances himself as much as possible in the current area or

2) Tends to hover or even become clingy

-After the first few times, his SO picks up on his behavior and tries to include him in the conversation or holds his hand while drawing patterns on his palm as reassurance.

K iss- Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

-Nagito is pretty hesitant at first when it comes to kisses.

-He’s so afraid that he doesn’t deserve you and feels as if he’d be dirtying you in some way at first.

-As for the first kiss, I believe that his SO would have to initiate it.

-This would be his first kiss as well, so he wouldn’t think he would be very experienced, but it’s a good thing luck is on his side because his kisses are always gentle and comforting

-The first few kisses you share are very soft, almost as if your lips are barely touching at all.

-After a while though, he realizes how addicted he is to his SO’s kisses and quickly becomes more comfortable

-He’ll never outright ask for a kiss, however you can usually tell when he wants one.

L ove Confession- How would they confess to their s/o?

- I believe after Nagito allows himself to love you, he would tell you right away

- He would wrap his arms around them and whisper to them about how in love he is with them and the hope that they emit

-You can feel just how fast his heart is beating as he confesses and how it speeds up when you tell him that you love him too

M arriage- Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

-Nagito has always wanted to get married, but I do believe he would be scared that his luck would get in the way

-It would take some time and a lot of heart-to-heart conversations, but he would eventually ask you to marry him.

-I believe he would propose to you on a pretty relaxed date while doing something you both enjoy

-When married, Nagito would be a stay at home husband because of his illness while his s/o would be at work or whatever they choose.

-Because of Nagito’s wealth, you don’t necessarily need to work if you don’t want to. However, he would be fully supportive of whatever his SO chooses to do.

-You are 100% without a doubt “My Hope”

-Would also call you “Angel”, “My love”, or “My dear”.

-I believe that Nagito would definitely follow his SO and be kinda clingy

-When this boy is w h i p p e d for his SO he is going to follow them around like a puppy

-He also looks at his SO like they are the most precious thing in the world (because, well, to him they are)

-Nagito absolutely LOVES playing with his S/O’s hair. Whether he’s simply running his hands through it, or braiding it, he’ll always be content.

-He’s also very good at braiding hair, and if you ask him to braid it, he’ll be there in 10 seconds with a comb and a hair tie.

-He also loves his hair being played with. He’ll fall asleep the quickest with his head on your chest and your fingers running through his fluffy hair.

-Nagito is a very affectionate lover. You wouldn’t be able to go a day without knowing how much he loves and appreciates you.

-I personally believe that Nagito’s love language would be physical touch, so he would always want to be close to you any second you have the chance

Y earning- How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

-Nagito would be very down when missing his SO and I believe he would become even more withdrawn.

-He usually copes by reminiscing about time the two of you have shared and by looking at pictures you two have together

Interview

Fandom: Criminal Minds Pairing: Aaron Hotchner/Latina OFC Sophie Cortes Word Count: 1,729 Tags: SFW, Pre-relationship, First meetings Summary: Aaron finally gets the greenlight to hire a new agent. Collection: Sophie Cortes timeline, 0-6 Months at the BAU (See Masterlist for reading order) A/N: Sophie and Reid are partners, because I love them! Link to AO3 or read below!

It takes two months for Hotch to convince Section Chief Strauss to open a requisition for a new member in the BAU. There was a lot of paperwork to be filled out, including detailed explanations as to why he felt the team needed another profiler. He thought it was obvious: for all they do work together as a cohesive unit, Morgan and Elle were technically partners, and when she left, Prentiss took her place. Reid doesn’t have a partner, which makes him feel like a third wheel, sometimes.

(He won’t admit to it, but Hotch notices things. It’s kind of his job.)

Needless to say, the position becomes available, but it takes another couple of months—and several interviews—for Hotch to find the right person to fill it.

Agent Cortes comes highly recommended by the Intelligence Section’s unit chief, someone he worked on a case with in his early days at the BAU; she is young, just 29, but she is more than qualified, and the referring agent is someone whose opinion he respects, so he’s hopeful.

Gideon sits in on the interview because he respects his opinion, too, although Hotch will make the final decision.

Cortes is Latina, petite and polite, with a firm handshake, a warm smile, and dark, striking eyes. Gideon looks at her with somewhat passive interest (something only Gideon can pull off) as they go over the highlights of her resume.

“You have bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Sociology, and master’s degrees in Behavioral Science and Criminology, all from the University of Chicago. How did you manage all of that, at your age?” Hotch asks, wondering if maybe she is gifted like Reid.

“A lot of hard work,” she replies, and it’s an answer he likes. “I graduated high school, enrolled in a dual major program and completed the bachelors’ at 22. Then I was hired onto the Chicago Police Department, and I worked there and got my Criminology degree at the same time. The Behavioral Science degree came after; I began it in person, and they let me finish online when I moved here to join the FBI.”

“What interested you about behavioral science?”

“I grew up in a city that was rich with diversity, but I still noticed that certain people were susceptible to falling into certain patterns, and became curious about why we as people do the things we do. I was already interested in criminal justice, so it seemed a natural path to take.” He nods, jots down a couple of notes before looking back up.

“Tell us about your time with the Chicago Police Department.”

“I went through training while finishing my Criminology degree, worked a beat for about six months before being assigned to the Intelligence Unit; my sergeant found value in the way I was able to get people talking, and a large part of my work was with criminal informants. I worked in Intelligence for three and a half years, and for the last two I was on the Tactical Response Team as well.”

“Tactical Response—that’s SWAT?”

“Yes, sir.”

“How did you end up in SWAT?” Gideon asks, speaking up for the first time; she looks over at him for the first time, as well. “I mean no offense, you’re clearly more than capable, you’re just… small.” She gives him a brief smile.

“Well, there was a hostage situation, the team leader determined that we could get a vantage point from an air duct... and I was the only one who fit.”

“You don’t seem resentful of that,” Hotch notices, a bit surprised. It’s not an origin sorry everyone would be proud of. Her eyes turn back to him.

“I find it’s more important what you do with your time somewhere than how you got there. I contributed to many successful responses over the course of two years that had nothing to do with my size.” It is a great answer, and he holds back a smile of his own, simply nods.

“So you left Chicago to join the bureau; did you have your sights set on any department in particular?”

“I was torn between Language Analysis and Intelligence and ended up somewhere in the middle.”

“Intelligence because of your background, why Language Analysis?” Gideon asks.

“I speak 6: English, Spanish, and Italian as my native languages, plus Russian, French, and German. I have an ear for them.”

“Impressive,” Gideon says, nodding, lips pressed together. Cortes smiles, modest.

“It’s helpful; more than 30% of the population of Chicago speaks a language other than English at home.” Hotch does crack a smile at that, because the statistic reminds him of Reid.

“How would you describe your current role with Intelligence?”

“The official title is Intelligence Liaison. I’m part of a team that travels domestically and internationally, to law enforcement or government agencies, to debrief them on threats we’ve identified, or potential threat activity, and to help them formulate offensive countermeasures.” There is a lot of experience there that would translate well to the BAU, that much is clear. If anything, she may be overqualified, but they would never turn down the help.

“What’s the most frustrating part of your job?” It’s a question he always throws in, because true frustrations—and how one handles them—can say a lot about a person.

“When they don’t listen and people die. I do my best to make sure it doesn’t happen often.” He looks up from the form to the woman, who, in that moment, shows the things she’s seen all over her face. They’re gone from one blink to the next, and he breaks eye contact to choose his next question. No follow up needed there.

“It sounds like you have experience interacting with law enforcement, which is important here at the BAU. We can’t work on a case unless we are invited by the agency with jurisdiction, so maintaining healthy relationships is vital. We have a communications liaison who deals directly with police departments, sheriff’s stations, FBI field offices, and the media, but knowing how to handle them is a big part of the job.” It’s not a question as much as a confirmation, and she nods.

“I’m confident in my ability to interact with other law enforcement in a direct but respectful way. It’s something I’ve done a lot of as Intelligence Liaison.” He has one final question, and though he’s already more than pleased with the interview, the answer will make or break his decision.

“Why the BAU?”

“Curiosity is what got me interested in behavioral science, but it’s empathy that makes me interested in the BAU. My current work helps to save lives, but it’s all very large scale, and it can be detached, cold. I can be detached and impartial when I need to be, but I can’t deny it would feel like a better use of my skill set to make a more tangible difference.” He agrees, can already tell that she would thrive in the environment of their unit, and it’s just the kind of answer he’s looking for; he takes a few more notes, glances over at Gideon for input.

“Anything else you’d like to ask?”

“I think we’ve covered it,” he says, and he stands abruptly, which makes Agent Cortes stand as well. Hotch follows suit. “Nice to meet you. He’ll be in touch,” Gideon adds, shaking her hand briefly and leaving the room. She is left looking a little lost, and Hotch steps around the desk.

“I apologize for him, he’s a little…”

“Capricious?” she offers with a smile, and he laughs lightly.

“That’s accurate, actually. Please don’t take it personally.”

“I won’t. I’ve heard a lot about him, so he kind of lives up to my expectations.” She tilts her head, looking curious. “You don’t, though. Unit Chief Roberts told me you would be stoic; I expected someone much more aloof, but you’re actually rather warm.” He is a bit surprised by her directness, even more so that she would find him... warm.

“I doubt that my colleagues would agree with your assessment,” he says, thinking of the number of less than kind words used to describe him in the past. She just smiles again.

“I guess you really do need me on your team, then.”

He finds it hard not to agree.

“There are a few more things we’ll need from you, such as a psychological evaluation, recent performance reviews, a physical. I’ll be in touch with Agent Roberts, and then you, if we determine you are the right fit. I’ll see you out,” he adds, gesturing to the door, and she follows. The team, who was not yet in the bullpen when she arrived, looks on, curious, as they head to the glass double doors.

“Thank you for the opportunity to interview. I hope to hear from you soon,” she says with another firm handshake, and he nods.

“We’ll be in touch. It’s a pleasure to have made your acquaintance.”

“Likewise, Agent Hotchner.” She gets onto the elevator, and he heads back to the bullpen, stops specifically at Reid’s desk, though everyone is nearby.

“Congratulations, Reid: you’ve officially got a partner.” Reid smiles, looking pleased.

“Who is she?”

“Special Agent Sophia Cortes. She currently works for Intelligence. Bachelors’ in Psychology and Sociology, Masters’ in Criminology and Behavioral Sciences. Fluent in six languages. Got her start at Chicago PD like you, Morgan—Intelligence there too. And SWAT.”

“SWAT?” Morgan echoes, impressed. “She’s gotta be 5’2” out of those heels.”

“She’s got glowing reviews from her superiors there, and from her unit chief: he called her resilient, determined, empathetic, a team player. She’s good at communicating with law enforcement, victims, even unsubs. The BAU is the right place for her. We’ll just be waiting on paperwork to make it official.” He crosses his arms, leans back against the filing cabinet. “I’d have introduced you, but she doesn’t know she’s being offered the job just yet.”

“She must have made quite an impression on you for you to decide on the spot,” Prentiss says, and he nods his head in agreement.

“I think she’ll fit in well. I saw a little bit of each of you in her, and she’s very…” He tries to think of one word to sum up the woman he just interviewed, and decides with a half-smile: “warm.”

I really struggle with elains character, in part because I recently started interacting with the fandom and my version of her and ideas her story didn’t align at all with what I saw being pushed by the fandom, which is the version of elain that from my perspective many elriels favor.

From what little we actually know of elain, I would expect her arc to focus on her learning to accept herself and finding her place. Maybe her story would include traveling prythian and the faerie realms, exploring her seer powers, involving herself in court politics as a diplomat, learning to fight, or even towing the moral line while trying to become human again.

And my ideas are not everyone’s ideas, but for elriels to gatekeep a character because other opinions either don’t favor their ship or threaten elains “femininity” is ridiculous. No elain does not have to become some badass warrior to be interesting, but being a badass warrior is no less feminine than loving to garden. The modern concept of femininity has expanded past the traditional domestic ideal of a woman, and it’s insulting to keep insinuating that elain would be any less of a woman if she picked up a weapon.

I want elain to have a story, some sort of personal journey. Her sitting around and pining after azriel or lucien for that matter while we watch her garden and bake should not be the sum total of her book. The main struggle shouldn’t be whether to grow roses or peonies. She should face a real conflict beyond her love life. And I have every faith Sarah will do that for her, but it frustrates me to see others not want that kind of story for her.

It's just so, so funny how the people who laud her traditional femininity also want her to either embrace it to the point where she is a passive little idiot (she doesn't know how the bond works, she is always being victimized, she suffers so much in her silk dresses and her beautiful gardens where she doesn't have to pay rent or work a job), or to completely discard it by saying she should be a spy.

So first off, I 100% agree with your assessment of what she needs because if we take off our shipping goggles and think about what we know about Elain, she needs to learn and live and grow and figure out who she is because, from her mouth, other people are so worried about her wellbeing all the time that she is completely stifled.

Like all of this

Maybe her story would include traveling prythian and the faerie realms, exploring her seer powers, involving herself in court politics as a diplomat, learning to fight, or even towing the moral line while trying to become human again.

Is exactly what I think too because she has said she wants to travel, she has said that other people impose their feelings upon her ability to express her trauma, we know that she is persuasive and tried to be the peacemaker of the Archeron family. And the best part? It has zero to do with whatever dick she happens to ride.

These people aren't really thinking about the implications of their theories, which is why I wrote this post.

The modern concept of femininity has expanded past the traditional domestic ideal of a woman, and it’s insulting to keep insinuating that elain would be any less of a woman if she picked up a weapon.

I've seen posts that are like "ew I'm so tired of the warrior girlboss story, no more training montages, why can't she just be a girly girl" and hey, guess what!!! Just like you said, there are more versions of the feminine than what Elain has currently shown, and what they are so desperate for her to cling to is a very white version of femininity. It does women and feminine people a disservice to say that their womanhood must align with that specific version.

Sorry, but I got over my "ew I hate pink, girl things are gross!" phase when I was like 14, and I can see beyond that now. The fact that Elain currently resembles a 1950s white middle class housewife is not a bad thing, but it's not exactly aspirational, either. There is valuing traditionally feminine work, and there is acting as if that work is her entire freaking personality. Women have done a whole lot of different kinds of work over the centuries, and not all of it has been centered on the home.

Her sitting around and pining after azriel or lucien for that matter while we watch her garden and bake should not be the sum total of her book. The main struggle shouldn’t be whether to grow roses or peonies. She should face a real conflict beyond her love life.

I LOVE THIS. For how often these people try to pull out their faded, 1955-era Feminist Membership card, they sure don't realize the limits they are putting on Elain as a female character. Why are they so insistent about defining her by who she ends up with? Why are they so insistent about saying that gardens are the beginning, middle, and end of her personality? And why are they so sure that she has literally nothing else going in her life except who she is supposedly in love with?

Elain still has to deal with:

her powers

her relationship with Nesta

her new life in Prythian and where she wants to live

her visions of Vassa, maybe?

she still hasn't traveled to the Continent

learning to assert herself

figuring out what she actually wants in life

I'm so tired of roleplaying with people who don't put half the commitment I do into our threads and muses. I'm so tired of feeling like I'm a weirdo or like I don't belong for that. Any other hobby and people wouldn't care if I took it seriously. Why is roleplaying different? How can I keep going like this if I'm getting rudeness from all sides? I can't even go outside my already tiny bubble and find more partners, because I always see people putting roleplayers like me down and it's exhausting.

"Why is roleplaying different?"

Well, Anon, I know that was a rhetorical question, but I have some thoughts on that. To the surprise of no one!

I strongly believe that this is an issue with how fandom has come to dominate roleplaying. As I've said before, it really wasn't always like that. Of course, you always had canon characters and almost all RPers were invested in a fandom or two. The difference was that online RP was once viewed much more like tabletop RPGs are.

When the RPC became a near-total offshoot of Fandom, a lot of shit changed and very rapidly...and within Fandom, a lot of shit was changing very rapidly as well at that time.

RP has always been something looked down on (though, at least no one ever accused written RP online of being literally demonic like they did DnD, or made correlations to murder sprees like they did LARPing, so there's that) as strange, not the good, understandable sort of dorky.

Part of that is almost certainly because of the difference in the way society views writing vs the way it views hobbies like gaming - writing is seen as an intellectual pursuit and a job, gaming, even at its most negative points of view in wider society, has been seen traditionally as a downtime activity only.

But. RP was not looked down upon from within Fandom or in roleplay communities themselves like it is now.

When the whole experience of fandoms themselves became extremely mainstream and open, it welcomed in a ton of shit ideas and behaviors that were not previously prevalent. It changed RP, too, along many of those same lines.

When your hobby is considered objectionably weird by people within the fandoms you love and RP in and that makes you a sort of lowest-tier fan, the viewpoint of RP to RPers becomes something lesser than a valid hobby. When RPers are the same people who engage with Fandom monetarily, anything not monetized is passively consumable content, including RP. And RPers are trying to both deflect shame and struggling with wider society's mixed messages, that now hit them everywhere online as well. Shit like, "you don't have to monetize your hobby, it's okay to just make really good cross stitches of memes for yourself" and "if you're not paying me, you have no control over me."

We seriously do not view RP as a proper hobby anymore, that's why. There are many factors to that, those are just few, but that's the ultimate answer. It's not seen that way because it's not valued in the same way.

I think much of the problem with muns losing their entire shit over anyone else approaching the hobby differently, dare I say...more seriously, is related to a lot of complex psychology about self-esteem, control, and anxiety. So many people here struggle with serious self-worth and confidence issues, and I think to many of them, whether they realize it or not, when they see serious RPers, they feel like that's an inherent judgment and a danger to their own enjoyment. Because RP, as writing, is a skilled hobby - the more you practice it, the more skilled you become with it. Meaning that someone who approaches the writing seriously is going to be at a higher skill level.

Enter the way we're training to think about writing again - when they see someone who is very practiced, skilled, and confident with their writing, the learned idea is that they're somehow superior in a nasty, personal way.

I most certainly do not think that makes it alright, it isn't, and I'm not very tolerant of it.

It's absolutely alright to engage with RP in any way you see fit. If that's extremely casual, it's a minor hobby for you, that's great! I'm so happy you're enjoying yourself, and I mean that in no facetious way. But not when that is the only form of it respected and accepted. It's just as alright to have RP as your primary, serious hobby!

The only way we can all enjoy a hobby with such great variance within it is by respecting each other's variables, not by vilifying them. It's recognizing that, no matter how much you enjoy the mun and/or muse, they're not engaging with the hobby in the way you are, it's not a good fit to write together. (Please, begging y'all to be friends with those who are different, not enemies, shit's sake. You've not got to write together to be friends!) Instead of labeling them and being hateful. Different =/= a threat.

And, to go off a bit lol y'all demonizing serious RPers really don't get that there are some intense tones of ableism and more going on in that narrative of yours, huh?

Not that anyone requires a reason to be serious about any hobby, but when people pick a hobby like RP as their primary one...you should probably have the maturity to consider why that is. Could it be that they focus on a hobby they can do from their homes and that requires low physical involvement, and has a degree of separation from direct socializing, for a reason?

Serious RPers tend to be limited in their ability to pursue other hobbies. Mental and physical health, region, finances, and ability to spend time outside of the home are all very common limits for those who "take RP too seriously/are addicted to RP."

Maybe take five seconds away from your own issues to consider that the person you're shitting on for something so minor as a difference of importance of a hobby might be the full-time caretaker of a special needs child, having to remain home and on a very small income. They might be chronically ill or suffer from agoraphobia. They might live in an area with no hobbies of interest, affordability, or at all...or they might live somewhere that is incredibly dangerous for them.

I honestly do not know where these people have been that they've been aggressed at by serious RPers, but that's usually the excuse. (I'm not saying it has never happened or does not happen, before anyone goes there.) The idea that serious RPers are extreme elitists who are demanding that other muns do what they do, how they do it. That they expect other muns to be online and RPing all the time, that they be "available for entertainment at all times" at the cost of real-life matters. Having the expectation that threads not be dropped constantly or that a writing partner not leave for months with no contact is neither of those things.

In over two decades of RPing across almost every platform type that has existed, I have literally never seen that be either a singular RPer-type problem or one that serious RPers are even more likely to deal in. I've seen the opposite, actually. Which is not a condemnation or a statement that all casual RPers do this, just what my experience has been. And one that actually stands to reason based on the way they view and engage with RP - quick replies, quick entertainment, and very low commitment to threads, muses, or other muns. Of course, it's annoying to them when a more serious RPer is unwilling to do rapid-fire style quick, short threads from an ask with them, but is writing the lengthy replies they already owed instead.

That's probably a factor as well, in here among a plethora of misunderstanding/unawareness of differences - for many serious RPers, it's not easier and more fun to write short, quick threads. So, what a casual RPer is seeing is that they're willing to put all this extraordinary effort into a massive reply to someone else while their easy, fun, quickly done thread is waiting in line.

Misunderstandings and unawareness breed hostility, period. And there is a hell of a lot of those things in the RPC.

What serious RPers are expressing are either boundaries/expectations or frustration. Not a demand that you be around all the time, but an expectation that you leave them alone if you're not also a serious RPer who will be committed to threads and muses. Not hostility and elitism, the frustration that it's already difficult to find muns who will work out before you add in the majority rule of casual RPers.

It's incredibly disheartening, frustrating, and honestly, a bit anxiety-inducing to constantly be the weird one, always have few choices, and to be at risk of being Problematic purely because you take the hobby seriously. You can't vent without someone jumping on your ass to remind you (even if you said numerous times that "real life comes first" and "people can do what they want") that omg, people have lives, people can do what makes them happy, it's just RP.

It's so upsetting when you think you might have found a good writing partner, then, you see a PSA they've reblogged about how it's a "hobby, not a jobby," and "no one owes anyone anything, ever." Excuse me, as that last one is a direct quote, let me redo it so it is verbatim: "no one owes anyone here anything - EVER !!!"

I said I wasn't very tolerant :)

But seriously, exactly what you've expressed is why I'm not...it's another form of controlling others instead of trying your best to control your own experience, and it's often extremely hateful. I'm not tolerant of anything like that, it's no longer supporting preferences at that point. When your preference is the only one that will be tolerated in the community, it's not a preference anymore.

It's something that makes others feel isolated, afraid of harassment, and depressed. It is a hobby and it isn't supposed to make you feel like that!

And, no, absolutely the fuck not lol the "answer" to this isn't that you're taking it too seriously and need to take a break. I'm so tired of seeing that shit tacked onto RPH responses and vents and PSAs. You're not saying that RP is making you feel this way, "just take a break and come back when you agree with everyone else" isn't a solution.

Of course, if you do feel like your time here has become so upsetting? Yeah, obviously, you should try to find some other things to supplement your downtime that make you feel happier again. Engage in some other forms of writing just meant for yourself, or that can be published as fics. Spend some more time on a game you enjoy for a while, or get invested in a new one. Learn to shape bonsai or make no-knead rolls. Whatever would make you happy as a hobby when you're not here.

Other than that, however, well...we're not going to be implying on this blog that you're too serious and need to take a hiatus until you have no emotional investment in your hobby. That's insane. I'd not say it about hiking, martial arts, dog obedience competitions, hobby farming, or painting either.

I wish I could think of some solutions as to where you could look that wasn't like this, but it's definitely the majority of the RPC. It doesn't help that, due to this, serious RPers have a tendency to quietly stick together and not venture out into the RPC. They're just not incredibly easy to find.

I will say that they tend to be:

novella - if you're not here for serious RP and sticking around for a while, you're not going to invest the time and energy into particularly lengthy writing

older RPers - I would say that twenty-five is probably the youngest, with early thirties to late forties being the majority

in fandoms with a large adult base of fans - even if it's a franchise friendly to, or even meant for, younger fans, if it has a particularly active adult fanbase, it's a better chance of finding serious RPers in it

as above, old fandoms - fandoms that have been around for a long time tend to have more serious RPers in them

fandomless OCs - tend to have a higher chance of being written by serious RPers than canons or heavily fandom-involved OCs

RPers who do not do a ton of advertising for their muse(s), but when they do, they don't advertise them based on activism points or trends

slightly more likely to not have an emphasis on highly aesthetic blogs, graphics, icons etc. - they use a modified basic tumblr theme, low on graphics, their aesthetics are not on-trend, for example

anti-content policing/"write what you want" style muns

muns with more extensive rules pages - they plan to be here for a while, they take writing, RP, and their muse(s) seriously, so, it's a bit more important to them to head off problems before they start

those with older characters/FCs - be that literally in age or the character being one that has existed for a long time

"stay in your lane" style muns - if they're opining on fandom or the RPC, they must really be angry about something

those with numerous and detailed headcanons - for example, their response to a HC meme ask like, "what's your muse's favorite ice cream flavor?" is going to be treated seriously, not simply answered with "mint chocolate chip because my bby is gross"

As usual, not a complete or perfect list. I don't fit some of the things on there! It could give you some things to look for when trying to find other serious RPers, though. It's based on observances from someone who was never a casual RPer, even as a minor (me, obviously), and maybe it could at least keep you from continuously running into hostility about your approach to RP.

I've honestly considered making a list of some sort expressly for RPers who are on the more serious end of the spectrum, but...in a RPC back when things were dominated by serious RPers, I did that sort of thing with a RPH I had, and it still got labeled as being a list for and by Elitists. I don't know that anyone would want to put themselves out there for potential harassment on tumblr, you know? It was a joke then, just having a group of RPers label you as an Elitist. Here, you get told to kill yourself, and none of us need more of that shit, right?

Try to hang in there, Anon, I know it's upsetting, and I'm so sorry that something fun has gotten to be like this.

Try to understand that these people are coming from a place of irrational defensiveness, often in response to bullying themselves at some point or feeling bad about themselves. That doesn't make it right, but it does make it easier to not take to heart.

And keep at it! In my experience here, once you find a group of people you fit into, it really is...A Group. Especially among RPers who are ostracized, they stick together, they promote each other, and they're very happy for their mutuals to become your mutuals. Once you find them, it unlocks so many opportunities for the interactions and type of RP you've been missing!

How I innovate, dream and make a change in the world:

Uranus in 12th house individuals may work in the shadows and do great things while not even searching for recognition. Nevertheless, my caution is a good thing because it keeps me grounded in reality while also don’t feel confined by reality. While some people are afraid to dream big, I look past the physical restrictions and try anything to make my wish come true. Because of this, I am unlimited to the kinds of jobs and careers I can do.

Anything, where I am surrounded by creative types and forward-thinking individuals, is a good place to start. And I shouldn't be afraid to knock down any barriers that I come across because that’s how innovations become a reality.

The one area I do need time to myself is when I feel stressed and need to recharge my batteries. It’s better to have some alone time, for I can focus on what’s bringing me down and figure out ways to get over the feeling. Pulling strings behind the scenes can be tiring, especially if I don’t have anyone else I trust to help me. While I constantly strive to make the world a better place to live, not just for others but also for myself, I would place a lot of pressure on myself to match my dreams exactly.

I have to build up your confidence and see myself as an independent person, capable of handling problems on my own. I amso good at helping others with their issues. This is one area where I can excel over everyone else. I offer a shoulder to cry on or words of wisdom to help others get out of a scary or tense situation. But I need to try that technique on myself as well. My compassion is my strength, so learn to use it as such. I shouldn't be afraid of change in my career or marriage. Embrace it as a way of moving forward in life. The only way to learn how to handle tough scenarios at work is to deal with them firsthand.

Sometimes I may dream too big, and it’s not a realistic goal. I have grand theories and ideas, and no one can rival me in terms of imagination and creativity. The only trouble is I spend more time with my head in the clouds than my feet on the ground to get anything done. While having the ability to dream big comes in handy, it can also prevent me from accomplishing my goals. That doesn’t mean I have to give up on it. I have to think about it differently. This is when I can shine and not feel guilty about it. A dose of reality is needed in both cases, so I have to find a way to focus on the more realistic parts of the idea. And I shouldn't turn and run from this responsibility either.

I can get so overwhelmed by the everyday errands and busy routine that all I want to do is hide. But this only adds to my habit of shying away from difficult tasks and situations. That prevents you from growing emotionally and spiritually. My inability to gain knowledge and experience stunts my personality and prevents me from becoming a mature adult.

I also run the risk of feeling upset or guilty when I can’t express myself well to others. If I don’t have experience discussing conflict or how someone or something makes me feel, I often believe I have to hold it inside instead. This will only cause negative emotions to decay and can make me miserable or even mentally depressed. I shouldn't let myself fall into that endless cycle of sadness and disappointment. It’s important for them to not be afraid of any obstacles in their way as innovation doesn’t happen when the inventors or creators are scared of the unknown. It wouldn’t matter how tense or uncomfortable the planet Uranus in the 12th house is, the natives with this placement will always want to be alone when reading, painting, writing or meditating.

The more they’ll spend time in solitude and doing these things, the more profound they’ll get to feel or their soul to have its peace.

While very compassionate and kind, they don’t express all these things directly, and many people may not get the chance to understand them or worse, might feel hurt regarding their attitude.

While the Ascendant is the one that’s rules over physicality, Neptune in a position too close to this sign would only cause the dependence on substances to be stronger on them.

超高校級の英雄 V3: Danganstuck Classpects V3

Okay, okay.

Enough waiting around; let’s get this up and ready to go.

These are obviously just my own opinions on things, and as such are very closely tied to my own personal interpretations of both the V3 characters and also of the classpects themselves. For clarity’s sake, I based the aspect rationalizations from the official lore here, and I used the MSPA wiki for direction with the classes.

Just as a quick note, I used some of the FTE info (which is debatable in its veracity) for some of the assignments. Sorry, gotta work with what I have to work with. Also, if anything is expanded on in Homestuck 2, I have no idea, as I haven’t read it (or the epilogues, for that matter).

Akamatsu Kaede Prince(ss) of Time Derse Dreamer The Land of Sharps and Flats

Going off the canon description of Time, it makes perfect sense for Akamatsu. She’s goal-oriented, wants to skip to the credits, and would rather take a leap of faith than wait things out. To say nothing of the strong associations between Time and music. I went with Prince for her as a class since it’s the destroyer class--Akamatsu very literally destroys both Amami and herself (and her goal of getting everyone out alive) thanks to her own impatience in wanting to stop the one responsible for the killing game. I had her sleep on Derse since she’s supposed to be a bit of a protag subversion in that she hatches a literal murder scheme. Her equivalent of the Beat Mesa is a big metronome.

I also have an alt land name for her in The Land of Ninths and Eighths to reference the time signature of Claire de Lune (which is 9/8).

Saihara Shuuichi Page of Doom Prospit & Derse Dreamer The Land of Glass and Fingerprints

I considered making Saihara a Rage player at first given how the ultimate conflict is (supposedly going to be) solved in Chapter 6, but the description of Doom players as being commiseraters rather than healers really stuck out to me as appropriate for Saihara. Of all the characters in the game, he’s one of the few that doesn’t actually push anyone to heal, and his ultimate gambit in the 6th trial is to counteract the audience trying to self-medicate with catharsis at their expense. He takes a while to come into his own, which is the signature trait of the Page class, too. As a Doom player, he dreams on both moons, which for reasons I can’t quite articulate just clicks for me. The glass in his land name references not only magnifying glasses but also mirrors, since his is very much a journey of self-reflection.

Amami Rantarou Seer of Breath Prospit Dreamer The Land of Sails and Nail Polish

I really like what I came up with here for Amami. Breath is linked pretty strongly to his FTE reveals about how his desire to explore led his sisters to disappear into the ether (and changed his direction in life), and the angst he feels over wanting to reunite with his sisters hints at his trouble with bonds (the Breath inverse Blood’s territory). I incorporated the boat stuff into the theme with the idea of sailing for his world name, while the nail polish is for his sisters and that extra scene with Akamatsu. I went with Seer as the class since Amami Knows Things, and there’s that bit about Seers “having a strategy guide in their head” that I wanted to be a callback to the special map and the fact that he’s the Shogo Kawada of this operation. Prospit as the dream moon just felt right, so there it is.

Iruma Miu Thief of Space Prospit Dreamer The Land of Caulk and Nuts (and Frogs)

I don’t care if you have to have Frogs somewhere in the Space player’s land name, I will stand by that pun! So Space is all about creation and seeing the bigger picture, and to me that jived with how Iruma is an inventor. While Time is deeply linked to music on a conceptual level, Space is linked to nurturing, including growing plants, raising animals, and parenting. The Space and Motherhood parallels fit well with Iruma’s canon aspirations and goals. I went with Thief because Iruma is very much out for Number One, and wants to hog up all the creation ability for her own ends. Prospit dreamer because she’s the type.

Ouma Kokichi Bard of Heart Derse Dreamer The Land of Kings and Horses

There’s a lot you could do with Ouma, and I’m sure that plenty of people peg him as a Void player because of the lying. For me though, I read Ouma has being primarily concerned with his own identity, and how he’s perceived by others. Fractured senses of self are a Heart concept, after all, and it seems that Ouma likes trying on identities to see which one ultimately fits him best. I made him a Bard because they’re unpredictable and all about helping or hurting a session in random turns, but also because Ouma himself is allowing his own identity to be destroyed thanks to his paranoia and inability to let anyone get close to him. He dreams on Derse with all the other schemers, and I went with a name pun for the planet that can also function as a chess reference (ala his bandana and his 5d chess approach to life).

Kiibo Sylph of Mind Derse Dreamer The Land of Shells and Ghosts

Since Sylphs are healers, I wanted to have Kiibo in that role, since he’s usually trying very hard to smooth things over and fix problems. I went with Mind for him for a few reasons: one is that Kiibo’s self-identity is subsumed by his “inner voice” that later turns out to be audience suggestions, meaning that he’s healing things through the choices of others and doesn’t have as much of a Self as it were. Another reason is because I made Naegi a Mind player and Kiibo is clearly meant to be a bit of a callback to him (up to and including the fact that Naegi very much functions as an audience insert in the first game). I made Kiibo a Derse dreamer because he literally hears the whispers of the audience members telling him what to do. The land name was me having a little fun and poking at his aspect a bit.

Gokuhara Gonta Heir of Light Prospit Dreamer The Land of Pins and Wings

Light is all about knowledge, and Gonta has, while specific, quite a lot of knowledge. He likes learning, and is open to new information to re-evaluate what he knows. I made him an Heir since the speculation is that they are subsumed in their aspect, and Gonta is very passively knowledgable. He often offers helpful suggestions based on things he just happens to know, for instance, and what ultimately undoes him is Ouma showing him the “truth” of things, which Gonta doesn’t even think to question. He’s a Prospit dreamer who’s been awake for awhile, unwittingly watching the clouds for signs, and his land name is a reference to pinning butterflies into a collection.

Shinguuji Korekiyo Mage of Light Derse Dreamer The Land of Scrolls and Masks

Meanwhile, on the other end of knowledge for knowledge’s sake, we have the other scholar, Shinguuji. Unlike Gonta, he’s actively out there seeking knowledge, rather than being drawn to it, and his motives are undeniably selfish in nature, so I wanted him to be an active class (I’m assuming Mage is the active counterpart to Seer, shhh). Shinguuji uses his understanding of his field--humans--to progress his own goals and wants. He’s also smart enough to know what pieces of information to share and which to keep hidden behind a convenient zipper. Made him Derse because shemey as all hell, and I went with some general imagery for folklore for the land name.

Chabashira Tenko Knight of Breath Prospit Dreamer The Land of Sweat and Flipping

I think we can all agree that Chabashira is probably not a Derse dreamer. Meanwhile, I chose her aspect for a couple of reasons: first, because aikido is generally about evading attacks which strikes me as a windy kinda deal, even if Neo Aikido is a bit different; second, because her central conflict in the game is about learning to let go of a bond she desperately wants to forge with Yumeno (which, again, is a Blood-related matter); and third, because flipping somebody would create a gust of air movement and that image made me laugh. I went with Knight for Chabashira, since the most common interpretation of Knight is that it exploits its aspect, and I think that Chabashira is able to exploit the various currents of influence (especially in Chapter 3) to great success. I also think that she exploits The Breeze to nudge Yumeno’s path out of danger by taking her place in the kagonoko ritual. The land name is the sweat of training in martial arts, and the flipping is not just about said martial arts, but also about being flung off a see-saw.

Toujou Kirumi Knight of Life Derse Dreamer The Land of Sticks and Carrots

Life players are generally known to be trying to fix everybody’s problems, whether they want that to happen or not, and if that doesn’t scream Toujou to you, I don’t know what will. I went with Knight again for the exploitation aspect of it, where Toujou uses her position as authority in the group to further what she believes to be the greater good (hedging my bets here since we don’t know if Knight is active or passive). She’s clearly a Derse dreamer, because even if she wasn’t schemey, she’s droll as fuck. Her land references the two main ways to motivate someone: threats and rewards.

Harukawa Maki Knight of Time Prospit Dreamer The Land of Beans and Demons

I know, I know, but really, if you think about it, HaruMaki and Dave do kind of have a lot in common (and not just the fact that they have red eyes). The part about Time that fits well to me is that a Time player’s life is marked by strife and struggle, which HaruMaki has in spades. Like Akamatsu, she’s impatient and often acts rashly, in an attempt to cut out the middle man or advance what she thinks should be happening. She’s the last of our Knight squad, exploiting Time (or more broadly, destruction/entropy) to try and help out, such as trying to off Ouma or attack the Exisals head on. There’s also a bit on the Wiki that’s speculated that Knights often try to conceal their insecurities by acting tough, which is HaruMaki’s M.O. While she doesn’t have the music theme, assassination is very much about timing. I had her dream on Prospit because she’s not really a plans person, deep down, and her land name is a joke about her name/birthday referencing Setsubun.

HaruMaki doesn’t have a Beat Mesa equivalent, but she does have a tool specifically for causing a Scratch: a huge, unwieldy kantana.

Hoshi Ryouma Prince of Blood Prospit Dreamer The Land of Grass and Clay

Here you go, anon, what you were waiting for. I personally peg Hoshi as a Blood player, through and through. He’s stubborn, values bonds with other people, can lead via inspiration rather than direct command, and feels grounded. I think he’s a Prince thanks to the fact that he ended up destroying the very people who meant so much to him, and in the aftermath continued to push people away and pre-emptively destroy any possible future bonds. He’s a Prospit dreamer because he can see flashes of the future, though he often doesn’t read them correctly. His land is a reference to different types of tennis courts.

Momota Kaito Rouge of Hope Prospit Dreamer The Land of Wishes and Stars

The key part of a Hope player is that they can dream up a better world than the one that exists, and that can definitely be said about Momota. Like Jake, he’s a bit in his own head and immersed in his fantasy version of reality, where he plays the hero and is able to save everyone else. He’s somewhat gullible, to a point, and he’s the most superstitious of the bunch, showing how much stock he can put into the thing he believes. The sheer power of Momota’s belief is infectious, hence why I made him a Rogue--he’s out there trying to impart his sense of belief into those around him, for everyone’s benefit. He dreams on Prospit because of course he does, and I made his land name reflect literal space in conjunction with his talent, and to riff on that inspirational poster about shooting for the moon and landing among the stars.

Yumeno Himiko Heir of Doom Prospit & Derse Dreamer The Land of Death and Magic

While most people who played V3 picked up on Saihara being depressed, not everyone has noticed that Yumeno also suffers from the same bleak view of the world. Similarly to Saihara, Yumeno is not a healer, or a doer. She’s here to sigh and complain and tell you that’s rough, buddy. Because of that, I can definitely see her as a Doom player. I made her an Heir, as one who is consumed by their aspect, since Yumeno is very much doom and gloom a lot of the time. She’s also subconsciously drawn to death, as she gets close to both Angie and Chabashira before their untimely demises. It’s through their deaths that she comes more into her own, hence why it’s also part of her land title (I don’t think I have to explain the other part). She dreams on both moons because Doom players are implied to do so.

Yonaga Angie Witch of Hope Derse Dreamer The Land of Prayer and Idols

Like Momota, Angie has intense faith on her side; if Angie thinks it’s true, it’s true. She’s also similarly not looking at the same world as everyone else, instead seeing something slightly different and colored by her own beliefs. However, unlike Momota, Angie is not interested in helping others find their own faith, and would rather use the power of her belief for her own gain. Hence why I made her a Witch, an active class that manipulates its aspect. The other characters may not believe in Angie’s religion, but they sure do believe her when she tells them to sacrifice their autonomy for safety. I put her on Derse since her god could very easily just be a specific horrorterror, and the land name is connected to religion.

Shirogane Tsumugi Maid of Void Derse Dreamer The Land of Scripts and Swatches

I went through a lot of possible Classpects for Shirogane, including Light, Space, Seer, Heart, etc., but I think that this is what I’m going to settle on. Derse Dreamer because not only is she schemey, she’s listening to whispers of her bosses and the ratings, albeit in a less direct sense than Kiibo (what’s more horrorterror-y than a focus group!). Void as an aspect works well to me, since Shirogane is always going on and on about being plain and forgettable, about how she hides in plain sight, and even her talent is about becoming somebody else rather than herself. She’s also the one who in the end throws the “truth” into question, instead concealing it in favor of ambiguity. I went with Maid since one of the speculated interpretations is one who creates or creates through their aspect: she not only (arguably) erases the casts’ identities and memories, she does this in order to have “blank pages” on which to write the killing game’s drama. Whether Maid is an active or passive class is unknown, but if it’s active it makes sense since she’s using other people for her own gain, and if it’s passive, it could be argued that she’s doing it in service of Team DR or the audience.

The V3 audience Muse of Space The Land Beyond the 4th Wall

I don’t like assigning Master Classes unless I have a really good reason, and here I think it works. The fans are the epitome of the “wait-and-see” model, and their crime as it were is their general apathy toward the very real subjects of the killing game. They’re all big picture and no important details or nuance. You can’t get much more passive than being an audience member, hence Muse class, yet it’s their desire to recycle the series over and over that leads to the killing game’s very existence (they’re also not too upset about letting the kids’ past lives be sacrificed for this act of creation). The V3 audience is collectively in the real world as opposed to the Medium, hence the “planet” title for them. In the context of an actual Sburb game, they’d likely be Exiles.

Yeah, no Rage players in V3. I couldn’t find my notes the other night when I got home, so I just went ahead and reworked all of the classpects from there.

The Aspects were fairly easy to assign, but the Classes really had me scratching my head for a good long while. Maybe it’s because it can recontextualize the Aspect elements depending on what it is, or maybe it’s because we don’t have as much information about how Classes work.

Rohan Kishibe Fluff Alphabet:

The second full alphabet is finally finished, woohoo! This one goes out to all of my Rohan lovers- Make sure to like, reblog, and click under the cut! It means a lot!

A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?

Rohan will want to show you the things that he’s passionate about, and that mainly includes his artwork and enjoying art together! When you want to get out of the house, you guys enjoy walks in the park. Fresh air does you well.

B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

He really loves your attention to detail. If he parts his hair differently? You're going to notice. If he draws a manga panel with an extra that looks eerily similar to your likeness? Of course, you're going to notice.

C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

In theory, he figures that he'd be inconvenienced, but once it actually happens his tune changes real quick. He soon realizes that when in a relationship, selfishness isn't an option. His arms will be open, all he's waiting for you to do is to run into them.

D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

Rohan's forte isn't long term thinking. Unlike the issues of his manga, life can't be planned out and anticipated. He does see himself with you in the foreseeable future, though. For the present, he treasures each day he spends with you.

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

You would think that Rohan would be dominant in the relationship, given his fiery, sassy personality. Instead, he's quite passive when it comes to decision making. He's been with you long enough that he can let down his guard and be his authentic self around you.

F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

Verbal altercations are prominent in this relationship. It can either be petty or a big blowout, and Rohan usually makes it a show by slamming doors and hiding in his office. He's extremely stubborn, but every fight you have eventually gets solved.

G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

He really appreciates the fact that you put up with him, honestly. He feels like he is such a burden and protects himself by being moody and lashing out at others. You know that he appreciates when you spend time with him and help him grow as a person.

H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?

Rohan doesn't really have a reason to hide anything, besides major spoilers for his upcoming chapters (He wants it to he a surprise when you read). BUT, that being said, he has such a fat mouth. Don't tell him anything you don't want all of Morioh to know about.

I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

Echoing themes in B and C, he is inspired to be more giving around you (and less selfish). Also, if we're talking literal inspiration there's a chance that there might be a new character showing up in Pink Dark Boy that looks a lot like you...

J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

Rohan definitely faces issues with jealousy, to the point where he would become paranoid and make false accusations. It's one of his fatal flaws, and in order to make the relationship work, he needs to learn to trust.

K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

Rohan is definitely an awkward kisser at first. Although he talks a big game, he is still quite unsure of himself and might need some guidance at first. You more than likely will have to initiate the act most times, but once he’s gotten used to the feeling he’ll want to take the lead.

L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

He would sit with himself for quite a while to figure out what he wants out of the relationship. He most likely has never used the "L" word with anyone before, and that makes him extremely nervous. You would be eating dinner together when he tells you how he truly feels, and oh how overjoyed you are.

M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

Rohan would marry you having several years of dating. He thought that he would end up alone since he was holed up in his house all day, but finding and having you was a godsend. You would move into his home, and Rohan wouldn’t feel so alone anymore.

N icknames - What do they call their s/o?

Rohan doesn't get too colorful with nicknames, it's a pet peeve of his when he overhears people going overboard with their terms of affection. Really, who shows their love by calling your s/o love muffin?! He just can't understand. Your name works fine.

O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

At first, it's a sense of giddiness that he just can't pinpoint. Once he learns the reason for his feelings, he isn't really sure how to properly deal with them. Josuke gets on his nerves through his teasing though, since the way he's feeling is so transparent.

P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

As mentioned before, Rohan is very observant of how others are when in relationships. In his own, he wants to make sure that he doesn't fall into the same "traps". Only hand-holding in public, nothing more. (He'll totally brag in front of the Duwang gang though)

Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.

His memory. As an author, he has to remember so many things. Why would being in a relationship be any different? Every special moment he has with you will be cataloged, and when it comes around next year he'll never forget the (deadline) date.

R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

He finds little ways to show his love to you. One way that he loves to spend time with you is by showing you how to draw. He’ll place his hand over yours as the pen dances across the paper. Although, you’ll never be as great as the mighty Rohan Kishibe. Creative for sure!

S upport - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?

Rohan may be rather grumpy and show the epitome of tough love, but whatever you choose to pursue he'll be backing you all the way. He teaches you to not be afraid of rejection and tries to make his experience as a mangaka applicable. You have his support for sure.

T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice up your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

He doesn't really feel the need to change the way things are. It's the casual outings that he values most, really. He'd rather get groceries with you or a book from the library than sky diving or something adventurous any day.

U nderstanding - How well do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

One of Rohan's downfalls and something that he needs to work on is realizing when his partner is feeling down and out. While it's good to be in touch with your own feelings, now that he's in a relationship, there's another person's feelings to take into account. It's something that he'll need to work on and improve. (Hang in there, Rohan!)

V alue - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?

Before he met you, he was completely content with living and being alone. He's just grown used to being by himself. When he met you; however, things changed a lot. If you left him, there would be a gaping void that he definitely never noticed there before. You're his world, basically.

W ild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.

Rohan adores when you make him a homecooked meal. Before you met him, he was basically living off of take-out and fast food (how did he not gain weight?). Anyway, there's not a single recipe you've made that he doesn't like. For a present, you were planning on making him a book of your best recipes and trying them out together.

X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?

Rohan may complain all the way, but he secretly loves to be cuddled. He actually prefers to be the little spoon and feeling your arms around him. Prepare to not get up for hours; he feels so secure in your embrace.

Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

Since he works from home, you're most likely the one who's away most of the time. He says that he'll be fine, but that's not true at all. He relies on the power of technology while he waits for you to get home, but of course, he would rather be talking to you in person. He has a lot of photographs that he looks at too.

Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?

Besides his fashion sense (epic burn), Rohan isn't really a flashy individual. He wouldn't do anything too extravagant in the relationship, because he knows that you would think he was trying too hard. If anything, he keeps his public and private life separate, since he values his privacy.

Pairing: Richard Hayden x Reader

Word Count: Roughly 3,180 words

Author’s note: Hey! This is definitely something I didn’t expect to write lmao. I haven’t been in a writing mood lately, but after getting into David Spade again I knew I had to throw something together. Good news though! That means that I’m finally motivated to work on my other WIP’s! So expect those requests to be finished soon :)) Your girl threw this together pretty fast ngl, so hopefully it doesn’t suck lmaoo

A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?

If there is anything that Richard loves to do, it’s activities that leans more on the physical side. As much as he loves academic pursuits, he can get tired of trying to maintain the persona of ‘the bookworm/nerd.’ When it comes to activities he enjoys doing with you, it really just depends on what type of person you are. If it’s physical, his go to activities include fixing up vintage cars, dancing, cycling, painting, and whatever else you enjoy doing. If it’s more mental, then he enjoys laying back, reading, doing crafts, or learning something new with you.

B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

If their is one thing that Richard admires about you physically, it’s your hair and eyes. Being a person interested in astrology, Richard knows that the eyes and hair can tell a lot about a person’s personality and self. And your’s show a person with a breathtaking personality.

And something that he really loves about you is your ability to be accepting, creative, passionate, and unabashedly yourself. You never failed to accept all parts of him, whether they were good or bad. And when you figured out the situation with this hair, you never once faltered on your love and acceptance for him. Which he appreciates more than you know.

C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

Richard has definitely been at some low points in his life. Whether it be with his career, personality, or looks, he's been through it all. So if there's something be knows well, it's definitely a person in dire need of love and support.

When you're feeling down Richard focuses on the main thing you need at the moment. As much as he wants to listen and be supportive, he first has to deal with your body's needs. Having an anxiety attack? Do some breathing exercises, ground yourself, and take a bite of a lemon. Chest pain and irritable stomach from holding in all your negative emotions? Take a second to dance, cry, and release the negative thoughts. Then, when all that is said and done, he'll sit down with you and figure out the best way to solve your problems.

D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

Being a small town, settle down type, Richard has always seen you two having a small wedding with all your loved ones followed by having a few children. Although he never really planned to find 'the one,' you turned his life around and showed him that he is good and secure enough to finally start living the life he always wanted. And now that he knows you'll love him forever (hair or no hair), he's confident in the quiet life you'll soon live.

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or are they rather passive?

As much as he wants to be dominant and feel in control in the relationship, we all know his scrawny ass could never 😔. And we all know he would love to have someone dominate him. That being said, he loves the challenge that comes with both of you fighting for dominance. But he’s more than willing to calm down and allow you to take control more often than not.

F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How is their fighting?

Being the prick he is, especially with his mars in aries, it will definitely take Richard a while to calm down and discuss arguments with your. While fighting, he is vicious and acts like a wounded animal. None of it is really intentional, he just gets too heated too fast and gets caught up in his emotions. That, added to an inability to express his emotions properly at the moment he feels them, makes him a bit difficult in fights.

That being said, once he calms down and feels the guilt of his actions he immediately comes back to you and spews out an apology. If your fight was especially bad, he’ll end up setting up a nice dinner for both of you and let out a heartfelt apology. He loves you with everything he has in him, but he’s still dealing with processing and expressing a variety of feelings (plus he’s a man lmao).

G ratitude - How grateful are they they in general? Are they aware of what there s/o is doing for them?

With his string of luck and life choices, Richard is very grateful for all of the good things he has in his life; especially you. He understands first hand how fast life can turn sour, so he doesn’t take a second of his life for granted once he meets you.

He knows how much effort you’ve put into y’alls relationship and is aware of how much of impact you’ve had on his life and personality. And for everything that you do, he is deeply appreciative. And he tries to return that energy back to you 100% every day you two are together.

H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?

After you figured out his secret about his hair, he knew that he could trust you with everything else. The only thing that he keeps to himself really are secrets that deal with surprises for you. Besides that, he shares relatively everything that concerns him.

I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

In a way, you both change different aspects of each other; while Richard makes you more sarcastic and ambitious, you make Richard more laid back and wholesome. But when you mix, there seems to be a harmonious balance of the perfect personality.

Furthermore, you help each other work through personal trauma and make sure that the other isn’t falling into a bought of negative emotions. That strengthens your relationship while also making you both better versions of yourself.

J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

Being the sarcastic prick and insecure person he is, Richard is definitely someone who gets jealous easily. To him, you could have anyone you wanted; someone with hair, a better build, and definitely with a better personality. And when he sees you with a man that possess all of those things, he tends to get pretty jealous.

But he never takes that out on you. He knows that you would never cheat on him or avoid communicating your intentions. When a situation like this comes up, he usually takes a moment to contemplate his insecurities, stews in it for while, then brings it up to you. When that’s all said and done though, you both usually curl up and remind each other how much you both love and appreciate each other.

K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like? +

L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

Overall, Richard is actually a pretty decent kisser. He moves in just the right ways and knows how to avoid being excessive. Additionally, with the love that he puts behind every kiss, he makes you feel loved and appreciated with every languid motion.

The first kiss you two shared was after a company party when you took him home to watch a movie. You both got bored of waiting around and doing nothing at the party, so you left to do something more fun together. After sitting on the opposite ends of your couch, you both started to slowly inch closer and closer to each other. By the time you both started cuddling together, he felt as though the time was perfect to lean in and risk it all.

And when he gripped your chin, pulled you in, and placed a slow kiss to your lips, you both knew that you wanted to turn this official.

That being said, he still wanted your consent on if things would truly turn official or not. After letting out a whispered confession of love to you, you both thought it wise to discuss your newly developed relationship.

M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose?

Getting married is a definite for Richard. He doesn’t care what kind of wedding it is or when it happens, he just wants everybody to know that you’re his and that he’s yours.

Not one to be overly dramatic or public about an important moment, Richard proposes to you while you two are on a camping trip together in the mountains. You had both just woken up and began drinking your coffee on a log by one of the lookouts. With the rising sun hitting your eyes an hair in all the right points, he knew that he had to propose; it was the perfect moment. Not even his nerves could prevent him from doing it.

N icknames - What do they call their s/o?

With this man’s wit and sarcasm, he never fails to have new and creative nicknames for you. Usually though, your nicknames depend on the type of mood he’s feelilng.

Sarcastic? My sweet turtle dove. Affectionate? Sweetheart. Playful? Sugar/Angel Face.

It just depends :)

O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

When in love, Richard can act like a wistful and love-struck romantic. From afar, Richard can be seen sending you longing and affectionate looks. Furthermore, when you two are near each other, people pick up the way he always drifts really close to you and continuously reaches towards your hand.

While he has a tendency to act aloof and uncaring, Richard does make it a priority to tell you how much he loves you (as well as how radiant you look to him) at least twice a day. He never wants you to feel as though he doesn’t think you are anything less than deserving of all the love you can handle. Even if you two fight, he always puts aside his pride and remembers to tell you that he loves you.

When it comes to PDA at the beginning of you two’s relationship, Richard wasn’t too much of a fan. He was still stuck in the mindset that he had a reputation to uphold; he couldn’t be seen being soft and mushy, he had to be suave and respectable. But as you guys’ relationship progresses he begins to appreciate showing you love no matter the situation.

If you were to ask one of his coworkers on how he’s changed since being with you, they would definitely point out the fact that he has softened up considerably. He doesn’t care too much about his ‘reputation’ as much since he only focuses on showing you affection during the moments where it fits. By the time you two create a well-rounded relationship, he begins to casually brag about you and how you are the most fantastic significant other anyone could meet. It gets a little annoying, but people find it endearing do a certain extent. (it’s still Richard we’re talking about here lmao)

Q uirk - Some random ability they have that's beneficial in a relationship

He understands astrology and a few other personalty based aspects of people, so he acknowledges all of your quirks down to a ‘T.’ He knows your communication style, love language, argument method, preferences, etc. just by a birth date and a few other factors.

That being said, he also knows what things are particularly difficult to you, which helps when you aren’t able to communicate how you’re feeling on most occasions. (He has yet to learn how to solve his own problems with this quirk though)

R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

Once Richard knows that you love and support him unconditionally, he becomes the sappiest, most romantic person you’ve ever met. Although he has his cliché moments, Richard is usually creative with his methods on making you happy or keeping your relationship interesting. Most of which have to do with the office where you two work *wink* *wink*

S upport - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?

Being a man of high ambition and deep respect, Richard would love to help you reach your goals; no matter how big they seem. Especially if you are the same way with him.

He knows how much success and respect can mean to a person, so he will do anything to help you achieve the things you want. One aspect that he likes most about you guys’ relationship, is that you both constantly work towards bettering each other. He believes that you were both meant for great things. And if you associate great things with living off-grid and become self-sustainable, then he’ll help you achieve that.

T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice up your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

Richard appreciates a sense of routine in his life and relationship- especially when it comes to his well-being. But this is mainly linked to his underlying trauma from childhood and career. Not that he’ll ever admit this though, he’s got a reputation to maintain.

He’s never really been given the opportunity to feel free enough to be himself and act childish. It was always, ‘act too mature and professional’ or ‘be cold, distant, and ambitious.’ When you came along though, he finally felt secure enough to open up and be himself. Which, of course, led to trying new things in your relationship. He’s down to try anything if it makes you happy; cause when you’re happy, he’s happy.

U nderstanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

Deep down, Richard is not the most empathetic person. He’s had to rely on himself for almost his entire life, so being able to read and cater to another person isn’t the easiest for him. Reading social cues on the other hand, is. That being said, his love for you runs deep and he’s willing to just about anything to make you happy. He’ll take notice of the little things you like and the gestures you’ve come to appreciate, and repeats those.

Additionally, he understands that you aren’t responsible for his healing. He knows that he is responsible for a huge majority of it, so he takes note of your empathetic nature and uses it to heal not only himself, but you as well.

When that’s all said and done, Richard comes to learn a lot about both of you and shocks all of his associates with how close you two have become over the years.

V alue - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?

Richard values your relationship as much as he values air. Which definitely says something. The man doesn’t care that much about anything when it comes down to it (publicly that is), but he does care for you. And his is willing to quit his job, move across the globe, or do anything you wish just so that he can make you happy for even a second.

After he met you, nothing really mattered as much as you guys’ relationship. To him, those things were put on the back burner and wait. As Charles Aznavour sang, “Me, I'll take her laughter and her tears; And make them all my souvenirs; For where she goes I've got to be. The meaning of my life is she.”

W ild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon

Richard has actually always wanted to have a child. Since he never had a father present in his life and repressed his inner child, he has always wanted to prove that he was better than his parents. That being said, he’d love to have a little girl over a son. Mainly because he knows she will bring out the softer side in him.

All in all, he just wants to nurture and care for a child that he knows will grow up to have a stunning personality and life.

X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?

At heart, Richard is a man with a deep, passionate, and affectionate nature. He loves being close to you and enjoys laying back and spending some personal time together. He loves all sorts of kisses he receives from you. Whether they be short and sweet or long and languid, he loves them all.

When it comes to the long and languid ones though, he loves to do them while you’re cuddling together.

Is it because he knows it’ll lead to something more? Maybe....but he’ll never admit that.

Plus, sometimes he just like being held so he knows he’s cared for.

Y earning - How do they cope when they're missing their partner?

Let's be honest, Richard can become a bit of a prick when you're not around. Since you both work together, everyone notices the day's where you’re absent; cause his toxic energy goes through the roof. Although he isn't insufferable, he definitely reverts back to his sarcastic and aggressive method of communicating and acting. But he can't really help it; (his mars is in scorpio 🙄 jk jk lmao) he doesn't have someone around to treat him right y'know? When he's alone though, he tends to get a bit melancholic and revert to sitting around and waiting for you. It isn't his proudest moment in life, but he’s trying to get used to the fact that you might not always be there. With that in mind, he copes the best way he knows how: by occupying his mind. Which is usually by working on his cars or cycling.

Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind?

Similar to his career and the things he aspires to do in life, you are something that Richard will go great lengths for. Although Richard knows when to quit, committing to a task is something that isn’t unfamiliar to him. He will work night and day to please you and keep you happy.

Need him to take the day off to help you with a task or take care of you? Done with no hesitation. Need more emotional support because of recent events? He’ll drop everything in seconds. To him, nothing is worth ruining the relationship you two have worked so hard for.

Selfish Vs Unselfish

Jesus. Yeah I have nothing to comment here, I’m going to read this later when I haven’t just woken up.

You know the drill. Put it under ‘Read More’. A matter of perspective it can be, but there can be an objective truth to sort that out. Let me e x p a n d on this matter using Homestuck and some philosophy. And for those who missed the last ask on Active/Passive divide, please do remember that these labels are on a continuum, not strictly boxed categories. “UNSELFISH” or UNSELFISH - The passive classes lean more to this. How? By being group-oriented. Like support classes in RPGs, their asset comes mainly from a drive to benefit others. Roxy is one of the best examples of this. While she was passive-aggressive in her pursuit of romance, she is ultimately willing to put her self aside and bettering herself if that meant making sure the group stays together. She does this by, to quote Dirk, never turning the tables to make a talk about her when she knows her friend needs something.

GG: And I didn’t say anything at the time, but it made me wonder if I wasn’t doing the right thing before. GG: By failing to point out you might have a problem? She wants to be of use to her group. However, the downside to this is that, as passively Roxy can be, she often needs them as well.

TG: and now dirk knows that too and for some reason letting him down feels like the worst part?? TG: which is equally lame and weak cuz i should care for my own sake not for how it makes a dude see me but it still just really bothers me ???

TG: i didnt want her to meet a sloppy embarrassing mess of a daughter

TG: even if she did like to drink at some point it was kind of a childish idea that doing so myself would make me closer to her or help us bond or whatever TG: anyway i think i might of overestimated her drinkin habits

How would you know if a class is truly passive when a character just been a really selfish a-hole through the story? It’s how they mainly rely on others as well. Let’s use Aranea as the main example of a selfish passive Sylph of Light that tries to emulate a Thief. Aranea says that Sylph is a healer type of class that involves boosting others, even excessively. However, while she claims that she merely wants to help and shepard the Alpha timeline by taking control of it, Meenah says otherwise. What Aranea has been doing is a self-aggrandizing act to get into the spotlight and not sit on the sidelines anymore, much like her fellow Serket. Like Kanaya, she is meddlesome. She asserts that what she does is for the good of all, even if that means doing something others would object to. They don’t want that. But, she does it anyway.

At first, she complies when the recipient refuses, but when it eventually comes to her ultimate takeover plan, everyone else comes second. She may believe that she’s just granting their wishes, but her underlying motive is ultimately selfish- albeit by excessively “helping” others for her own cause. Aranea failed to learn what Mindfang did:

“8ut as I sit here deciding what to do with the damna8le little sphere, I understand my error. It was not in failing to chart a course through future events to turn my fortune’s tide, even so many sweeps from now. It was in 8elieving the future was mind to know, and fortune mine to control.”

Now let’s use Rufioh and compare him to Roxy. Both of them are Rogues. Both of them are group-oriented characters that act selfishly from time-to-time. The difference is that Rufioh is more selfish. He’s extremely affable to the point of being a doormat to please others all while trying to be polite about romantic advances despite being a flirt himself. He’s reluctant to voice his own reason that he wants to leave his matespritship with Horuss. Sounds familiar? He’s the Jake of the love triangle. Rufioh cheated on Damara and never takes responsibility from it, focusing on Damara being a crazed scorned girl.

Passive players that fail to balance supporting others and fulfilling their own desires often end up being thrown in a loop. Forcing your solution solution on others for 'their own good’ is selfish. Your concern on how others perceive you may be sprouted from your own insecurity. Whenever you make a donation to the less fortunate, how can you be certain it’s not without the purpose of staving off guilt, doing it because it simply aligns with your moral code, or because it feels good?

AG: I decided not to, 8ecause I didn’t want to 8e the one to make you sad about it.

AG: Was that selfish of me? I dunno.

It’s a gem to see volunteers whose instincts are to help people to make life more bearable, mind you. But they’re also doing that because they want to see them better and it’s often their own desire to do so and fulfill that dream.

ENLIGHTENED VS UNENLIGHTENED SELFISHNESS

-I’ve rambled on this a bit. Here’s a recap:

*Unenlightened Selfishness is… pretty much the archetypal self-centeredness that makes people jerks. It’s whenever you do something for yourself with little to no regard to other people’s desires. It’s the greedy shark hoarding all the treasure. It’s when you try to justify your actions with a perspective of “everyone else is selfish, so I’m entitled to be an asshole to everyone too”.

*Enlightened Selfishness or Enlightened Self-Interest is the opposite. It’s when you respect that everyone has their own wants and needs by compromising and coinciding them with your own. It’s like a deal. It’s the Golden Rule. You scratch my back, I scratch yours. It’s when you do things for other people for the good you’ll get from it, even when the payment is simple politeness and being generally nice. Society expects each individual to benefit the community in turn by working. We work with the expectation that others work for us. Unlike the first, this form of self-interest benefits both parties. Another term is Selfish Altruism.

We see an exercise of selfishness burning brightly through Vriska’s arc.

(VRISKA): I’m not a loser though! (VRISKA): I LIKE who I’ve 8ecome. (VRISKA): I actually feel happy and good a8out my life for the first time in… may8e forever?? (VRISKA): Like, ACTUALLY good a8out my life in a way that feels real, instead of forced. Don’t you realize that’s what it was like for us? VRISKA: You don’t have a life! VRISKA: You’re DEAD, remem8er? VRISKA: I’m the one with the life! VRISKA: And I fully intend to use it in a relevant and constructive way to help 8ring an end to all the horri8le shit that’s 8een going on for way too long. VRISKA: Remem8er when you used to care a8out that sort of thing? VRISKA: No, o8viously not. VRISKA: All you care a8out now is 8ullshit hipstery fashion trends, feeling “happy”, and… whatever the fuck it is you’re doing here? VRISKA: Frolicking with some horses in an ugly field or some shit. VRISKA: Just a8solutely disgraceful. VRISKA: How could I have 8ecome so selfish??

Vriska is accusing (Vriska) for being selfish despite being selfish herself. Remember her popular hero quote?

VRISKA: I only ever wanted to do the right thing no matter how it made people judge me, and I don’t need a magic ring to do that. VRISKA: You don’t have to 8e alive to make yourself relevant. VRISKA: And you don’t have to 8e a good person to 8e a hero. VRISKA: You just have to know who you are and stay true to that. VRISKA: So I’m going to keep fighting for people the only way I ever knew how.

VRISKA: 8y 8eing me.

And a few panels after that, she does this.

VRISKA: OHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! VRISKA: OH FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! VRISKA: WE’RE G8ING TO LOOK AT WH8T’S IN THIS CH8ST RIGHT N8W!!!!!!!! VRISKA: DO YOU HE8R ME Y8U F8CK? VRISKA: I D8DN’T SCRAPE AND CLAW MY W8Y 8ACK TO RELEV8NCE F8R THIS SHIT! VRISKA: I’M DOING S8METHING F8CKING IMPORTANT! AND WHEN I DO SOMETH8NG FUCKING IMPORT8NT, EVERY88DY 8ETTER D8MN WELL PAY ATT8NTION TO ME!!!!!!!!

Sure, her resurrection got everyone’s attention, but also annoyance. A lot of their personal problems aren’t truly solved, just put on a temporary chokehold by someone with a stubborn, assertive personality. She’s taking charge so that her team won’t be in poor condition for the big fight, but also to, well, be in the spotlight. She doesn’t care how others think of her, she just wants to help… but also because it makes her important, even if that means overpowering her friends, including her moirail Terezi. Vriska’s the active counterpart to Roxy in both class and aspect. A positive part of this is that it’s easier for Vriska and other folks like her to be self-driven.

What am I getting at? It’s a matter of intention. Are they doing it to mainly benefit others? Or are they acting to benefit themselves? Even if it’s grey, there’s often a tint or shade that’s lighter or darker that makes someone lean somewhere. It doesn’t matter how they see themselves and how they perceive their own actions, it’s their motivation that defines the line. Accidents don’t count. It’s the will. Looking at one’s intention is a way to objectively sift through the blurriness of it their actions, even when said intention is subconscious. You can also simply take the Active/Passive divide on strictly class roles in terms of RPG abilities alone if you’re not keen on the personalities of the bunch.

Escapism AU Reader

This post is about what I’ve thought of for mc’s stand and vague parts of her personality? Not quite sure what I’m doing with her personality yet but I’ll probably figure it out. This is mostly in a random order so my apologies if it’s confusing!

Escapism AU M. List

Stuff under cut:

So, mc technically has 2 effects for her stand

The first of which is the nullification of other stand effects

Yeah it does sound op I know

The only reasoning I have for this is universe bs and the fact she’s from technically our universe and is still bound by the rules sometimes

The nullification of other stand is only via touch but she passively nullifies any effect on herself

She can nullify one effect at a time when she’s using it on other people

And she can only nullify one person at a time (not including herself)

For example, if Prosciutto was using his stand, mc wouldn’t be affected because of passive nullification however, other people would still be affected

If she were to touch someone and nullify the effect, that would reverse the ageing but if she were to let go, the effect would take hold again

She can choose to not nullify the effect of a stand on herself

Also, if she were to touch the stand user, she can cancel the effect of their stand in general

I’m kind of debating whether her passive nullification should work while she’s unconcious

Because on one hand, anything harmful would be nullified if she’s unconcious but, on the other hand, healing stands wouldn’t be able to heal her unless she gave permission before hand

The second effect of her stand is she’s basically able to phase through anything or phase things through other things

So, she can walk through solid matter

If she’s holding onto anyone/anything she can phase them through things too

She can also leave things half phased through

For example, if she were to have a ruler and a box, she could make the ruler go halfway through the box

If she left it there, the areas that were phased through each other would be combined if that makes sense

It would be impossible to seperate them because they’re a part of each other now

It’s like... melting them together? But not really? It’s kind of complicated

Technically, she could half phase someone into a rock and leave them to die or phase her hand into someone and rip out their heart

Mc does get a killer migrane and may faint if she uses her stand too much which is why she actually walks through doors instead of walking through walls and doors on a daily basis

Mc actually knew about the nullification part of her stand prior to time resetting to 1999 after she unfortunatly made the bad decision to go to Rome when Cioccolata was attacking the bucci gang

It was only after she was stabbed by the arrow did she gain the second effect of stand

This leads to a sequence of events as she figures out how to use it

It goes about as well as you’d expect

She learns about it on the job! Experimentation with her stand? Do it while you’re on the run!

I named the stand Escapism in reference to the Steven Universe song

Also why I called this idea escapism au

I haven’t settled on an appearence for her stand yet

As a side note, she can’t nullify someone while also using her phasing ability

Mc ends up having to deal with stand buisness way too often since she can nullify any potentially dangerous stands

Her stand isn’t a secret but she doesn’t openly disclose what it does either

Most people don’t realize she can nullify stands until it’s too late

And when people have info on her stand, they either think it’s nullification or phasing through things but not both

If they bothered to look into it more, they’d know it’s both

She doesn’t actually summon her stand that often since she can nullify and phase through stuff on her own

But she does sometimes if others wish to see it

Mc thinks that the whole “stand users attract stand users” thing is bs

That’s my general notes for her stand

Now, on Escapism mc in general

uhh

Mc is a reckless person

This is because she knows she has to save everyone

She can’t afford to lose anyone. Prior to meeting them, it’s because universe stuff but after getting to know them, she’s gotten attached and she doesn’t want to lose her friends

Mc very nearly dies a lot

But in her eyes, it’s fine because the people important to her (and the plot) are alive aren’t they?

This leads to a lot of people yelling at her to stop being to reckless and value her own life for once and mc yelling back that they should stop almost dying so often

She’s kind of self destructive but every idea I’ve ever had always had my mcs being self destructive

She’s trying her best okay

Mc is either “I haven’t slept in three days because I have essays due and I’ve been getting missions back to back” or “I slept for 12 hours and I feel great”

She’s really tired

She views her life as unimportant because she was never meant to be involved with any of this in the first place so she would gladly sacrifice her life

This is why she gets so confused when people tell her to stop risking her life

When it comes to people outside of plot though, she’s lowkey ruthless when it comes to her mission

If they aren’t important, she doesn’t care if they die because it’s her job

On a side note, even before the events of Vento Aureo, mc has been good at predicting events so there’s a running joke that her stand is the ability to see the future

It isn’t but it’s a fun joke

I think that, at heart, mc is a kind person with too much responsibility lumped onto her

She’s trying her best with the way fate is played out

She’s kind but not soft

Kind enough to care for innocent bystanders and the team but uncaring of those she deems unnecessary

She’s the type to dish out compliments at random with absolutely no follow up

It’s always in like a off-handed compliment way before either the topic has already changed or she’s gone

Personal thought but I think she likes lavender!

Mc actually has way too much information on Passione as a whole

Aside from outside knowledge of the show, she’s worked with several departments (ie. intellegence/information department) and she’s done some digging around on her own

She can write down important info on her phone (which she does have!)

She knows way more beyond what was shown in the show

Basically, she knows way too much but people don’t realize just how much she knows

She’s an asset but a dangerous one

Mc, physically, is pretty fit

Largely in part because it’s more convenient to break someone’s arms than use her stand all the time

And should she not have time to activate her ability (either on herself or someone else) she can take several hits

Mc dresses like a normal person most of the time because she doesn’t want to dress like a stripper like the rest of the mafia

Sometimes, this leads to her being mistaken for a civilian

Fun times

"How do you know who's the enemy?"

"Whoever dresses the most like a stripper," she answered. "It's never failed me before."

Mc can't articulate a dramatic line on the spot so you can bet she's thought of what she's going to say like 5 times before delivering a suitably dramatic one liner

She has to practice to fit in with the anime aesthetic

Personality: At first glance, I seem quiet and keep to myself, only speaking when I need to or when I’m spoken to. I’m an anti-social introvert to the fullest and don’t care much for small talk or going out. I prefer to have deeper conversations. When I get comfortable enough in whatever environment I’m in, I start to open up bit by bit. I’m a tomboy and pretty rough-minded as well as stubborn. I’m very sassy, have a smart, sarcastic, and witty mouth if not humorous and outrageous at times, can be borderline rude and mean, and I’m more sensitive than I care to be. I can literally cry at someone’s suffering especially if it’s someone I’m close to or even a total stranger. I’m very empathetic and my heart is bigger than what most people would expect. Most people describe me as quiet, intelligent, creative, dorky, a smartass, and really sweet. I love a good laugh and have an open sense of humor to boot.

Many of my friends say that I’m very sweet and kind which I usually am if I’m in a good mood as well as affectionate as hell. Hugs and pet names galore with me! However only my friends and family see that side of me. My language is often unfiltered, harsh, foul, and blunt which shocks people because they think I’m a pure angel. I say what I want when I want and no one tells me otherwise. If they do, they can expect a mouthful from me. I’m an escapist and very imaginative, can be a bit scatterbrained at times, and I’m methodical and detailed to the point of perfectionism. I’m usually a walking contradiction in terms of personality in so many ways to the point where the real me is almost impossible to decipher. To make matters more complicated, I’m not very good at expressing myself verbally and prefer to let my actions do the talking. I also express myself better through written form.

I have many pet peeves and I get annoyed easily in general. I’m also slowly embracing misanthropy and nihilism but I can be pretty idealistic so it balances out. I’m practically zero tolerance when it comes to bullshit. I hate confrontation and conflict but I’m starting to work on it so I can be less passive-aggressive and more assertive. I also wish to stand up for myself more often than I should so people won’t think that I’m weak and an easy target. I’m pretty cynical which is to be expected and usually expect the worst from people. When someone angers me, I will either just withdraw altogether and completely cut them off (slam the door basically) or get in their face and go off before doing the former. I’m the “hold my anger in and release it all at once” type but I hope to change that one day and stop letting things fester before they get out of hand. I can be quite petty and even cold as well and if someone wrongs me, they will have to make the first move to mend fences. I refuse to apologize if I’m not in the wrong and I will not accept gaslighting/guilt tripping. I also refuse to change for others and will admit to having quite a lot of pride but that’s mostly due to me not wanting to be hurt and manipulated, mistreated, or used.

I have issues with trust and a wild imagination to boot. I usually trust my instincts and can see right through bullshit. I don’t like taking risks and I have to know all the details when I do something so I don’t mess up and look like an idiot. I am indeed a perfectionist and introverted to a fault which often prevents me from trying new things and going outside my comfort zone. I haven’t been in a relationship yet and am still a virgin due to my issues with trust and not wanting to be hurt or humiliated as well as being quite picky/perfectionistic with the people I allow in my life. I have high standards for both people and myself although I’m pretty laid-back and my dislike of conflict allows me to also take a lot of shit from people too before I eventually say “fuck it” and slam the door or go off on them. I don’t think very highly of myself and can sometimes fall into a period of self-hatred and self-pity.

Many people praise me for my intelligence which is fitting since I’m an intellectual. My ideals and beliefs are rather odd to say the least (I’m a classical liberal/independent and despise most ideologies/ideas. This includes religion, feminism, social justice, traditionalism, statism, big government, nationalism, socialism/communism, etc.) and I feel misunderstood because of it (mostly because of the black community ostracizing me). I am indeed a rebel, open-minded, and a free thinker. No one tells me how to think or feel or else they face my wrath. I highly value power over myself and I think it’s the most important thing that a person needs in order to survive. I am definitely an outcast at heart and I often distance myself from others and don’t like talking about my feelings or beliefs because I think most people lack the ability/capacity to understand me. Before I give my opinion on something, I like to do as much research as possible as well as look at things from all perspectives before coming to my own conclusion. I don’t mind discussing things but I prefer logic over emotion when doing so which makes it damn near impossible these days for me to have an real conversation without insults and threats being thrown (usually towards me). Chances are I’m gonna find something wrong with damn near anything someone believes in or says and I’m not afraid to call it out when I see it. Once I do open up and express how I feel, the gates of passion will open up and never close. I also have high morals and values and stick to my guns no matter what which can make me pretty stubborn at times.

I’m currently battling depression and often experience many symptoms of it including suicidal thoughts and depression spells. I also suffer from iron-deficiency anemia as well as irregular, prolonged periods. These things are pretty annoying for me to deal with whenever they flare up.

Overall, I’m pretty crazy and a handful to deal with. Good luck matching me up with someone :P

Ace! I feel that you and ace would be such a great couple! He is open minded and kind to others whereas you are the same way! You are passionate like he is, caring like he is, loyal to the bone like he is! He would see you and see your personality and just instantly fall in love you and your personality! Like, I can’t even imagine how much he will want you on his crew, so they he can keep on you and protect you at all times-- though he will soon figure out that you don’t need help, you can take care yourself--which he will find extremely attractive, no doubt about that!

He will love that fact that you are independent, because he really values individualism and independency, he sees it as a great traits to have. But he will also love the fact that you are sensitive, and can sometimes get into your own head. He understands that, knows it all too well, so he will try with all his might to try and make sure that you are happy and always smiling! But he will love how fierce you can be to other people, never bowing down to their expectations!

All in all, I feel like Ace would be a great man for you in the one piece universe! He would be attentive to you, would love your attitude and personality, and would absolutely adore how loyal and strong you are! make sure to love him thoroughly!

Ah, Sai! He is much like Ace, just a little less emotional, which is fine! I feel like you and Sai would make a couple for a couple reasons! He would love how mature you are, and how logical you can be, and-- like ace-- he loves the fact that you are extremely loyal to your friends! That is a true factor in the way he will see you, and it is for the better! He will se how strong you are, emotionally and will be envious and at the same time fascinated! I Feel like Sai will look at you with wide eyes, his breath caught in his throat, his heart beating wildly in his ribcage because he will love you that much! All the things you are interested he will want to hear with enthusiasm, everything you love he will want to learn and hear from you, to get to know you better!

Another thing is that if you were to go to him with your insecurities and how you are battling depression, he will try to understand, and once he does he will try to everything and anything to make sure you feel better! You need a massage? He’s on it! You need cuddles? oh yeah he will give you some! You need chocolate or sweets or anything of the like? He’ll run to the store, and be back 5 minutes tops!

All in all, I feel like the cool, mature Sai, with a heart of pure gold will be such a good match for you! He will make sure that you uncomfortable with him, he will never want to make you unhappy, and he will definitely do anything i his power to make sure that you will keep on loving him as much as you can!

Rei! Now, with Rei, I wanted to go a more cute route. I feel that Rei would be equal parts and scared and in love with you! He sees how strong you are against people that oppose, he sees how strong you are for your friends, and how you have such a different personality to everybody else around him, and he will immediately fall in with you. Like instantly! To him, you’d be like a beautiful butterfly blooming right in front of him, and he will want to have you all tot himself! Of course, he won’t force you, but he will definitely watch you at a distance longingly!

He is very much an introvert and your calm but strong aura would definitely help with his anxiety! I just see him melting next you, into your lap or shoulder whenever you are around him because he is so comfortable around you. He doesn’t do this with just anybody so it would be a real honor! And when it it comes to your insecurities, he would want to make sure that you know he loves you the way are, and if you were to want to change something about yourself, then he will support you all the way, as long as you are happy! He will just love that you are such a freethinker and so openminded about things, so unlike him!

All in all, I feel like Rei would love you and (somewhat) idolize because you have all these traits that he would love to have. This perfectionist will understand how it feels to be such a perfectionist and will want to help you with that too! He will love to the moon and back(stroke)!
