reasons why dissimulation! childe is the perfect guy to be with:

does all the housework. cleaning, laundry, dishes, cooking, everything. refuses to get a maid despite how rich he is because you sometimes pitch in to help (and he likes doing domestic things with you)

helps you with your problems. there was this one time you had to make a presentation for an elective course and you were short on time and he did half of it for you. you inputted the information of course, but he made like half of the slides and animations while you worked on something else

is always there for you. feeling down? no worries. hop onto the couch in the living room and you can watch anything you want on the giant smart tv there. he might not sit with you to give you space but he does watch from the kitchen time to time

takes you anywhere you want (as long as it's with him and alone). want to go for a walk? he'll come with! want to go shopping? he'll come with! oh it's something personal you need to get? you're sure he can't come along? he'll wait in the car! even if it takes you a few hours. just don't be with anyone else. and if he isn't home, well, just wait till he's back

wears a baby pink coloured apron in the kitchen

respects your boundaries. he knows how you feel and while he does believe he can remove the hesitancy in your feelings, he doesn't want to make you uncomfortable. thus, he never initiates anything physical. also asks for permission before touching you in all circumstances (even if the bleeding cut on your hand was driving him crazy)

brings you fruits while you're studying. cut up apples, peeled oranges, berries, peeled pomegranates, mangos, grapes, literally anything. he just randomly walks in, drops a plate of fruit(s), and leaves

never lets you use public transportation. there's a driver designated to pick you from and drop you off at campus when he's not available. you haven't been inside a public bus or train ever since you got back

gave you his credit card. he got a secondary credit card linked to his account and handed it over to you within one week of moving there. he sometimes asks you why you don't use it and when you say you don't really need to, he says he'll just transfer money into your account. making him change his mind was hard and came at the promise of using the card if you ever need something (you buy something like an expensive coffee or boba once or twice a month with the card just so that he doesn't nag you)

buys you stuff. anything you want will be yours. you try not to go shopping with him for that very reason. you can't go with your friends anymore either because the moment he finds out it's a girl's outing, he hands over a lot of cash to spend. doesn't let you say no, and doesn't take back what's left of it. also doesn't listen when you say you don't really need that specific item of clothing so you would rather not buy it and instead just gets it (the time you tried ordering something online and decided to ask the exact address of the house, he pulled out his wallet before telling you the address to give his personal card since he knew you wouldn't use the one you have. you deflected it saying you were still thinking and want the address in advance. you cancelled the checkout right away)

compliments you. he doesn't make it flirty but always makes sure to compliment you whenever you change clothes (including your pyjamas) or get ready for the day. sometimes it's not immediate but in the car but he always compliments you at least a few times a day

randomly brings you boba and other drinks. if he comes home after you, there is an 70% chance he will bring you a drink you like from a place you like and a 30% chance he will bring you some snack or food you like. if you're studying, he just drops it off on your table, smiles at you and leaves

engages in your interests and participates with you. games? he can play games. crochet? he can try crochet. art? he can try sketching something. books? here's some recommendations from him

reasons why dissimulation! childe is not the perfect guy to be with:

an excessive amount of questions are asked when you say you want to go somewhere without him, alone, before you are ultimately told no. any outing with friends was tolerated at first with the condition that he would pick you up and drop you off but when you went in his absence, you are no longer allowed to make plans without his approval

there is only one spot you can talk to your parents in. thankfully, your room's walls are white so you face the door, white wall behind you and sit while talking to your mother to make her think you're in a new dorm and sitting in the shared lounge. he sometimes comes in while you're talking and leans against the doorframe, listening. grows extremely smug if either of your parents ask about him

he sometimes loses his cool. sometimes, when you're having a rather troublesome conversation ('why do you deny your feelings for me, [Name]?'), he loses his composure and asks you to go to your room before he does something he'll regret. he doesn't trust himself to refrain if he were to leave, so you will have to. also occurred when you had to attend a physical group meeting with your group project mates after classes and you were the only girl out of all five. he didn't get mad (there's no reason to be, it's simply a course project), but the thought of you being with them made him feel things, and he wanted to kiss you so bad. you had to lock yourself in your room at his request before he did something he'd regret

looks at you weird. often times when the both of you are quiet in the same space, he just longingly gazes at you with this sadness in his eyes.

frequent disagreements about your feelings. he wants you to say you like him back so that you both can pursue a relationship, but you don't. he's nice, kind, and a lot of things but with who he is outside these four white walls, you can't. and with how he's thoroughly infiltrated your life, taken over your freedom, put you in this position, you can't just go and say you love him. even if you do find him attractive and endearing

leaves at odd hours. sometimes he has to finish his food quickly, get dressed and leave. sometimes it's in the dead of night when you're half asleep in the kitchen drinking water. and sometimes it's when you're outside with him

watches you. frequently comes and quietly sits or lies down on your bed behind you when you're studying/working and watches you. it startled you quite badly in the beginning (and he always just smiled at you in response) but you're used to it now

feeds you too much healthy food. sometimes you just want to binge eat a tub of ice cream and a family sized pack of chips. he does not let you do that

you literally cannot leave without his permission. stay within these four walls. if the driver is supposed to drop you off, he'll come inside and tell you it's time to leave. do not attempt to leave without his permission

he casually reminds you of his superior strength. will often throw an orange to you from the kitchen to the living room over his shoulder without looking back. it lands perfectly on your lap too

his phone conversations are... you pretend you don't hear them. even if he's talking when in the same room as you, you pretend you don't hear. even when he side eyes you with a smile, knowing that you're listening, almost as though he's challenging what you will or can do. even when he does so on purpose just to see what you'll say or do or react

hii!! i was wondering if I could ask what is your usual colouring process? how much time one fully coloured piece and doodle take! I adore your ocs so much they inspire me to draw more myself:3 they feel so alive!

hi anon! thank you vey much, i'm very happy to hear that you feel inspired!

i wrote up a little something for your questions under the cut:

so, first of all, the way i color things ranges from drawing to drawing, especially if i feel like playing around in the process. sometimes i decide to try something out (palette, filter, technique, brush etc) and if i really like how it looks i may recolor the entire drawing lol. point is, there's a lot of sidetracks to my process (especially now, since i'm trying to get used to a different art program than the one i used previously) but the very basics of it are as follows:

1. i sketch and line whatever it is that i want to draw (this might take a while depending on whether i have a solid idea right away or not; in the latter case i might do some thumbnails first to figure out how i want the drawing to look. you can't really see here, but when i line things i usually draw on the same layer as the sketch, and after i'm done i adjust the brightness/contrast settings of the layer to get rid of the sketch underneath. it might seem like i'm just making my life harder this way, especially since this method only works if you sketch with a lighter color (or make it lighter in settings before starting lineart) and your lineart is drawn with a solid opaque brush (which is how i always draw), but it helps me to not get caught up on trying to make the lineart precisely follow the sketch. it also makes changing things on the go much easier, since i only have to erase on one layer.

2. after i'm done lining, i underpaint with a solid color (usually the skin color, but sometimes something random), then block the alpha channel and color over it with flats;

3. i don't color everything at once, instead going piece by piece, which helps to keep the drawing balanced color and contrast wise. i pick a desired area with magic wand and then go about rendering it properly (which usually involves adding some value variance with an airbrush and then laying down shadows/highlights/etc). you can't see this here either, because for some reason i forgot to do it this once, but i also usually lower the opacity of the lineart layer halfway when i color. it helps me concentrate on colors and how they look together better;

4. when i'm satisfied with color, i recolor the lineart to be whatever color i think fits the piece better and change lineart layer settings to either multiply, color burn, or linear burn. after that i just play around with filters, add decorative details, and clean everything up. it's also worth noting that sometimes i starts trying out filters/effects directly while coloring because i want to explore some alternative colors or palettes; i also have a tendency to pick very pale & unsaturated colors so messing around with HSB (hue/saturation/brightness) & depth/contrast settings while coloring helps a lot.

5. cropping it & there you go!

this one took me 1,2 hours. depending on how complex the drawing is it might take me much longer (especially if im working on a commission) so i'd say my average time drawing is somewhere between 2-6 hours. if a drawing takes longer than that i break it apart into several days of work. don't draw for too long! it's bad for your health.

as for sketches, as i mentioned previously, it all depends on whether i know what i want to draw or not, and if i do, i usually just go straight at it:

this one took me 20 minutes. on average, a doodle can take anywhere from 10 to 40 minutes, more if i want to make it look fancy, but at that point it enters the vast limbo between sketch and finished piece.

Ft. Dino/Lee Chan × gender-neutral!reader

AU: college art majors, reader has synaesthesia (or mad colour theory skills if u want instead)

A/N: fun fact, I had sound-visual and smell-temperature syanesthesia as a kid! Anyway here’s a fic that I teased back in 2017 but am only now posting! I remember one of the first readers also had synaesthesia and left a sweet comment, so as an homage to them I leaned into it ^^

This boy’s college major is dance!!

I mean, what else? Cuz dang he is amazing at dancing

Like really good

Michael Jackson is his idol, inspiration, motivation, and inner beast

So, of course, his favourite move is the moonwalk

I mean, what else?

Well, he has others, but he says it’s the moonwalk to be the best fanboy

Theatrics aside, his favourite part of the day is meeting with other visual art majors in a huge open room

It’s their clubhouse of sorts, where people can come to collaborate on things related to their major(s) and bring in whatever they want for their projects (given that they can clean it up afterwards)

You’re in Chan’s college as a Studio Arts major (there’s a reason!!), so you also go to the same visual arts club after your classes!

You love looking at what everyone else is doing so you can sketch and paint them

People think you’re really good at representing people with colour

And in fact, it’s because you have synaesthesia!

So, overtime, you could identify people and then depict them in the colour your brain assigns them by drawing/painting them!

It’s a sweet gesture you do once in a while, which you sometimes gift to the person if you’re feeling particularly inspired

But in addition to your synaesthesia (and an alternative if you don’t think you can get with the synaesthesia plot line), you also mad good at colour theory and aesthetics

So people will often ask you to find them a colour that suits them the best!

Because of all that you’re pretty well known in your small studio arts major community

But lately, you’ve been keeping to yourself and don’t start conversations on your own

And like no one knows why?? Lmao

Simple answer: You’re crushing on that cute dancer, Lee Chan, whom you see at the visual arts club 👀

Originally, you came to this hangout room to hopefully make some friends

And you did make friends!! But also you became super smitten with this guy

Like he’s so cuuuuuteeeeeee talented and passionate

It makes your heart flutter when he dances and happens to look in your direction

But talking to him feels so intimidating so it’s a huge nope™

Your first meeting was so embarrassing; it was during the second time you were at the hangout spot

You had been sitting next to one of your new friends

You were feeling pretty bored though, so your eyes wandered to some guys who were practicing a dance they choreographed and decided to draw one of them

The guy was Chan, the best dancer you’ve ever seen!

You were quietly focusing on your sketching, capturing the motion and fluidity as best you can in a still drawing

While the dancers were taking a break, you were finishing your picture by adding off-set colours to represent movement

Shades of azure and teal blue splash onto the page, looking almost like an ocean wave

Chan just happens to looks over your shoulder as he passes by

Chan: “Hey, is that me?”

You: “OH. UM—did you not want to be? I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to—”

Chan: “No no, it’s okay. It looks cool! I like the blue.”

You just.

Just nod. Yeah. Thanks.

(Hoooo boy that’s too many feelings to deal with right now—)

As the days went by, you drew multiple people on one page so it would seem a little less creepy

And you were never running out of people to sketch; there was always someone performing in the open floor area of the room, or people doing drawing challenges and sitting still enough for you to have a good reference

People were always so fascinated with the colours, even more so after you gave them a quick explanation that your brain assigned it to them

Sometimes people would even wear the colour you assigned to them the next day! It was a fun thing to see them match the colour you saw in your head

Thankfully, Chan didn’t seem to mind that you drew him again, too!

Whenever he’d pass your seat—where you were always doodling in your notebook—you would get really flustered because he’d look at you and say “your drawing style is amazing!”

You pour your heart and soul into your drawings of him just because of that

His kind soul deserves it!

After about a year of you drawing people and assigning them in that club, Chan suddenly comes up to you out of nowhere

You’re a bit confused and flustered since you weren’t actually drawing him that time

Chan: “Hi, Y/N. I heard you have, uh, synaesthesia? Is that right?”

You: “Mhm. I associate people with colours.”

Chan: “Cool, I thought I heard someone mention that. I have a question for you about that, actually.”

At this point, Chan is sitting next to you, so you’re a bit antsy and struggling to stay cool and not look weird and not seem like a creep

Chan: “Do you have a colour for my friend, Jun?”

You: “Who’s that?”

Chan: “Oh, he’s the tall guy with the brown hair over there. We’re on the same dance team.”

He laughs awkwardly a bit and at that point you’re unsure whether you should be embarrassed for not knowing or if he’s embarrassed for assuming you knew already

You: “Ohh, Junhui, yeah! He’s purple to me. Like, a shade of mauve, if you know what that is. That and a darker purple. Why?”

Chan: “I was thinking of getting him a gift. Something purple would be cool! I wonder if he’ll like that!”

Chan laughs again, this time with more heart

It’s sweet ^^ So cute okay stop fawning over him

After your very short chat, Chan waves goodbye and gets up to join his friends again, so you watch them block out a performance again

They’re planning to perform at the school’s perfoming arts festival at the end of the year, so they’ve been practicing any chance that they get

Cue the dramatic sigh

You never told anyone, but ever since you first saw him, you’ve always saw Chan as that same mix of azure and teal blue

You’ve always included blue in your drawings of Chan, even if he wasn’t wearing blue

You were actually finishing up a drawing of him now, which he saw again

Chan: “You know, Y/N, you should come watch us at the music festival! Maybe you could draw us performing?”

Then some random dude shouts

“OOH WAIT IS Y/N GOING TO DRAW OUR SPECIAL PERFORMANCE”

It turns out it’s Jun, who had immediately bounded over with excitement

Jun: “That would be so cool! Please watch Y/N please please it’s my last year performing”

CUE THE NERVOUS NOD YEAH OKAY I WILL!!

“Special performance” sounds interesting though, like what specifically is special about it other than Chan being there

Anyways the weeks up to the end of the year are obviously stressful, but you—along with the other arts majors—are anticipating Chan and his friends’ performance

Especially since they’ve organized for you to have a whole easel to work on with a good view of the stage!!

((Think like. Wedding painter vibes lol))

Finally, the day of the “special” performance, you’re set up at your wooden easel, far enough from the stage that you can see everyone

Considering you’d be watching a few performances, you brought quite a few canvases with you so you could paint some other stuff

Maybe even sell them to people at the festival 🤭 the performers would probably buy some

After all the performers have finished, the sun is beginning to set…and Chan still hasn’t performed yet??

Jun said they’d be last, but it’s starting to get dark so you’re losing precious light

But then the lights turn on and Chan and Jun, along with a couple of their friends, are on center stage!!

The crowd starts getting excited again and claps as the music begins

The 4 guys on stage are wearing all-white clothes and jackets, dancing to a modern but sort of slow melody

((Think the intro of ITZY’s Wannabe, something that’s going to give you goosebumps right before the music ramps up

Alternatively, you can imagine Dino’s mixtape Zero for all of this since it was the inspiration!!))

You get right to sketching, already having a plan!!

Wow the all-white really does make this seem like a wedding tho lmao

Then the lights start to dim, and the dancers do some sort of crazy formation

CUE THE BEAT DROP and suddenly theRE’S EXPLOSIONS OF CONFETTI AND COLOUR

All 4 guys on stage have ditched their white clothing and did a quick change, revealing the colourful fabric underneath

THE PARTY. HAS. STARTED!!!

2 of the guys, one being Jun, are wearing purple, just like you had mentioned to Chan before

Meanwhile, Chan himself (along with their remaining friend) is wearing blue!

💙💙💙 BLUE!! 💙💙💙

You’re so taken by surprise that you can barely remember what you’re doing

Everyone is dancing to the music at this point except you, sitting still in front of your easel, paintbrush in hand, jaw dropped, looking up at Chan with heart eyes

By the time the performance is over, you’ve managed to regain composure and depict the whirlwind of blue and purple on your canvas

Some confetti even gets stuck onto the canvas which is pretty cool

Many people passing by compliment you!! You sell a couple paintings too (nice)

But no one can beat Chan’s praise!!

Once he and his team go over to see what you’ve made, they’re blown away by the pop of cool tones you added to the canvas

(Jun wants to hang it up in their practice room lmao)

Once the festival is officially over and people are beginning to leave, Chan decides to help you clean up your paint supplies

You chat about his performance—turns out, he was the one who came up with the colour idea

Chan: “I really was thinking of getting Jun a gift since he’s graduating soon, but then I thought we could use your colours as a wow factor. I noticed you drew me in blue a lot, so I just guessed that was my colour.”

Chan had always been noticing you; after all, he loved your drawings

How creative they were,

The colours you assign to people,

How their colours never changed…

And how he was always those same shades of blue!

But around you, he never felt blue haha

Because he likes you even more than your drawings

In truth, he had a crush on you too, ever since he knew he inspired your wonderful art and you inspired him in turn

He finds you so cute

How you push your hair back when you’re thinking and he can see your face better

How you turn pink every time he walks by (yeah, he notices)

How he hears from your friend that you completely melt after he compliments you…

And he tells you all of this with the remaining adrenaline from his performance today

Which, of course, you confess that he’s right about that last thing…and that you like him too!

So all he can do is scoop you into a twirling hug and make you feel like an ocean wave of blue has washed over all your senses

Drawing MASTERCLASS

lol jk thought I’d show some of the process here in case your other favs aren’t online and u have a couple of min to waste while waiting for the bus

🎵Down once more to the dungeon of my black despair🎶

On the left, u have janky first draft, and on the right, u have less janky second draft😅. Depending on how much time I spent on draft 2, I might do a final cleaner version, and then then add colours :)

My hard limit for a doodle/comic is 3 drafts for reasons that I will go into below, but basically I find that if I try too hard, it triggers the perfectionist demon and then it’s not fun anymore lmaoo

For me, 2-3 drafts is the balance between making something I can look at without cringing, and still have fun drawing lines and shapes.

Also it’s ok to have a very very, objectively bad first draft. My brain is like Swiss cheese so if I spend too long trying to get something down on (virtual) paper by making it look nice, half the idea floats away before I can make a record of it.

So first of all, since this is the unofficial website for ppl with crippling anxiety (roll call! 🙋‍♀️), just thought I’d say: if u are on the fence about posting your [content] online, go for it!!

I used to look at all this really cool [content] (art, writing, photography w/e) and be like “wow, that’s some good content! I’ve got a long ways to go before my content can reach that standard!”.

Or sometimes, I would see amazing content with very few notes and think “whoa, if this extremely accurate recreation of the Mona Lisa made with used gum found under park benches has only 12 notes, it’s not really worth posting what I have, right?”

But then at some point I decided that it was easier (for me) to make stuff that was vaguely funny instead of “good”, so I stopped trying to draw the perfect shapes with the perfect shading, etc. and just went with like, the minimum accuracy required for an object to be recognizable lol.

I’m not saying don’t chase your dreams or whatever, but try not to force yourself into a style or content type that doesn’t suit you. I have a short attention span and a zillion ideas, so for me, it’s actually much more satisfying to make these goofy little doodles bc I can do quick sketches between procrastinating at work, or while I’m watching my dinner rotate in the microwave 🥲.

When I was in my “every drawing must be perfect” phase, I would spend hours on making sure the proportions were realistic, and the lines were clean, and spend days or weeks in a single piece. Some people are suited to this kind of work and have the patience to see it through, but for me it was very unsatisfying and sapped my motivation so I decided to be realistic about my abilities + the time I have available to improve my skills (I think this is very important bc u might have the patience and the work ethic to practice, practice, practice until you are at the top of your game, but if you have a job or school or other obligations, it might not fit into your schedule) and do a kind of compromise.

Yeah, I’m still envious of other people’s content and no, I don’t think my content is the BEST I can do, but it’s a balance between doing what I like and getting satisfaction out of it. Sometimes, if you push yourself too hard, you end up hating what was supposed to be a hobby, u know?

Terms and Info

If you wish to commission me, please send me a DM to discuss further - preferably I will give you my Discord tag so we can communicate on there since it’s easier for me, but if you don’t have Discord then whatever platform you messaged me on is fine. 

Once we agree on your commission and price, I will ask for you to send half of the payment upfront (this is a precaution to make sure I don’t get ripped off). I will ask for the second half after the commission is completed. 

I will share WIPs twice, first at the rough sketch stage, then at the lineart stage (if you commissioned a clean sketch with no colour, I’ll only share the WIP once. If you commissioned lineart with no colour, I’ll share at the clean sketch stage instead). When I show the rough sketch WIP, you are able to request major revisions a maximum of three times. At the lineart stage, you can request minor revisions. I’m a bit flexible on this and may share WIPs a couple more times if I’m unsure about something and want to make sure it’s what you want.

Refund Policy: If the commission is cancelled at any point before the second WIP is shared, I will give a full refund of the upfront payment. If you want to cancel at any point after that, I will not be able to refund you on the upfront payment, but you will not be required to pay the second half.

This is still another old work, but I wanted to post this dipshit here while I remember. This is my splatoon oc Calypso! He's Agent 7 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, though he had to be an off field agent for a while after a funky lil injury regarding his eye.

I've got a bunch of concept sheets that I had to make while I was making this fucker which I'll include under the cut! I'll go into a little bit of my designing process too.

This was the initial concept page, I usually will grab a bunch of clothes from my pinterest boards as a starting point and slap em on the canvas. The vibes I wanted to do this time round was a sort of mix between a traditional chinese style and techwear. The end result was not as much of a mix as I intended but I am definitely still happy with it!

My main focus when creating this baord was to make a loose concept of how I want the general flow of the outfit to be, which was tight fitted, with loose outer garments on top of it.

This was the first (and technically final?) draft, a semi clean sketch with colours. I flipped the original concept I had for the hair, when I realized that his scope from the weapon would be on the side without the cut bangs, which made less sense. I basically got enabled to give him heterochromia cause I love having that in a character, and decided to come up with a lore reason for it. So his inked eye isn't present in this final draft, as I added it in the lineart phase. He also gained many sparkles and scars afterwards.

The hero gear was the easiest for me to design. At first I had NO idea what to do for it, but once I had found that coat on pinterest the rest of the outfit came together. I wanted to fit the vibe of many straps on bigger boots, and removed unnecessary straps from the coat to be more practical. I didn't have to work on this one for very long.

This was by far the HARDEST for me to design. I wanted a separate outfit that I call Agent Casual, basically what you always see Callie and Marie in instead of their hero gear. I took inspo from both the canon members of the squidbeak splatoon, as well as the Deep Cut idols to make this outfit. The concept mostly looks how the final does, but I did have to change the jacket many times before I was happy with it. The only reason I struggled so much was because I put so much effort into making his outfit base slightly buff and I wanted clothes you could see it through T-T

Overall, I can say I'm very happy with how his design came out. Maybe I'll share more of his lore at some point?

Character Creation | Exploration and Style

Exploratory Sketches

Now that I had a solid idea for my character, I decided to start exploring various shapes and silhouettes. Throughout the initial exploration phase, I tried to keep in mind the idea of an upside-down triangle, as that would give my character a more unsteady feel. I wanted this because the main character is ultimately in a place in their life where they cannot sustain their workaholic nature.

As mentioned in my initial character writing post, I also did not want to be limited by gender, as I wanted the character to be a vessel for the viewer. Additionally, I think that there are less gender ambiguous and characters that are queer coded well in modern media. So this is an opportunity to promote that aspect of the design as well. The first two sketches I did involved more feminine presenting characters, the next two more masculine and finally a more... unorthodox character idea; the notion of how the workaholic feels and views themselves after long hours of work. In other words, this is how my main character would see themselves at the beginning of the story, half dead. Which is to say, their head would not be humanoid, and instead be represented as a skull.

Refining the Sketch

When refining, I saw the opportunity to make the eyes of the skull much bigger to allow for more expression. I was inspired by the initial animation tests for The Spot from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse, where the initial idea was to make The Spot's face incredibly versatile and expressive. This was eventually scrapped as it did not match his character story, however if I were to apply this principle to my own animation, it would allow me to play around with character expressions in a very different way than I would with a those of a human.

Following the initial sketches, I cleaned up the linework and tied everything together in a much more cohesive way. I tried to make characters 1 and 4 look more ambiguous as well for the sake of representation. I also took the chance to explore different art styles in order to find which one would work best for my animation.

Clean Up and Palette Exploration

Once I ran my sketches through a second pass of cleaning, I decided to add colour to them to see which would work best. As of right now, I'm not sure how satisfied I am with the colours I have chosen here. I really like design 2, 4, and 5 as they seem the most interesting to animate (each of them contain moving parts independent from their body such as longer hair, ties, and cover layers).

In terms of colour, I enjoy palettes 2 and 3 especially. I want to try and keep my characters monochromatic to contrast them against the colourful world that I intend to create for the film, also representing their "darker" personality in comparison to the world. While I do like the jackets on designs 4 and 5, I am not satisfied with the colours I chose. I may end up making them black later. Overall I think this is a good start. Personally I am gravitating towards designs 4 and 5, but this could change at any point going forward.

Logo Experimentations

After doing some basic research on other designers and how they have created their own websites and personal branding, this inspired me to begin creating my own designs. I wanted to start with logo designing as this can be used as a base for my website in terms of colour, typeface and design in general.

I wanted to create a funky and loud logo that stands out but still represents me as a person. I decided to take inspiration from this packaging design I had found through my research from the typeface unit in term one and use the style and motion of the lettering in my own design.

I began designing my type by just freehand drawing the lettering without a grid just for a basic idea of how I wanted the shapes to interact. I then placed the design I preferred onto a grid background and slightly adjusted the sizing and spacing of the letters. I really like how the y wraps around the upper Z as the Y has a lower descender which interrupts the composition of the logo. I wanted to use the name that I use for my design instagram account as I feel that ‘tillzzy’ is a unique brand name that describes me quite well.

I then used a grid to finalise the shape of the letters and made sure to design in black and white to ensure all areas and mistakes can easily be spotted. Colour can sometimes take away from logo designs at first so it is good to build from a black and white colour scheme. I also have yet to decide the colour scheme I intend to use for my branding.

as there was a space in between the Zs and the L I wanted to fill this space to create a more busy composition and also use the opportunity to add an additional design aspect that gives more personality. I started with adding a sparkle element however this felt quite basic and didn’t say much about me as a person. I then thought using plants would help add more as I love plants and have done a few projects already around nature and sustainability. I started with a simple flower drawing which was inspired by one of my favourite illustrators - Poppy Crew. I then thought instead of a flower using inspiration from the plants in my room. My favourite plant I have is my swiss cheese plant and sits on my desk as I work so I felt that this was a good option to tell more about my design process and myself in general. I really like this addition to the logo and I think it isn’t too much where it would overwhelm viewers but has enough to catch people’s attention. Once I add colour it will start to bring this to life a bit more.

I think now I should start bringing my illustrations into illustrator to clean up the line work and convert the logo into a vector based design. Also this will allow me to explore and start thinking about colour a bit more for my website. I also think experimenting with already existing typefaces for my logo instead of hand drawing the headings will help as it will create consistency and the opportunity to use the chosen typeface in other aspects of my website. I could hand draw these which could enhance the connotation of my website being illustrative but having consistency could help create a cleaner and more professional finish. I will explore both options when it comes to it

Week 4: Finalise

For this week, I was tasked with finalising some of my initial works. I thought my character designs would be successful so I worked on finishing them first.

I finalised my character designs by cleaning up the pencil work and adding colour. I think the colouring was the most successful part here. I used less saturated colours to add a gloomy feel and when adding the highlights I used a colour opposite the main colour I used. For example, if the character had quite a blue suit I highlighted with a light pink, I really like the effect this gave. As I coloured over a dark grey background, I went around the characters in a near-white shade to make them stand out more, I didn't do this in a block colour and instead left some of the original background behind, I like how this has a Leyendecker inspired quality to it.

The characters at the top I imaged being part of the kitchen, I looked at old-fashioned pictures of butchers for ideas for these. I tried to add blood to some of their designs, to make them look less clean and more obviously intended to be scary. The second group is what I imagined to be the wealthy 1%. The last group of designs is some ideas to what the main playable character would look like, these ideas came out less confident as I wasn't as certain on what I wanted this person to be. Finally, I added my logo to the top corner of each of my designs as I'd noticed this on other concept art sheets and thought it'd tie them together and make them look more professional.

Next, I decided to finish one of my poster ideas. I chose my favourite idea and began looking for references and sketching it out properly.

Once I had my sketch, I chose a dark background and started colouring the body. I tried to choose colours that fit the logo I'd made earlier. I looked at photos of frog dissections for references, which I thought was successful as it gave an inhumane feel to the image rather than looking like a respectful dissection. I cut out and used the knifed heart I drew for my logo as I thought this would save time whilst also tying the 2 images together in a way. I played with the brightness of the different parts of the drawing to try and make this part of it stand out.

For the title I used a font from www.dafont.com, as the image was already quite detailed I chose a simplistic font to balance this.

Overall I wouldn't say my poster is a huge success, I think in future I'd like to plan it out more but I think it was too complex for the time I had. However, I think it does communicate what the genre of the game is clearly being horror

You'd only been in the village for six months, but you were friends with most of the villagers. Surprisingly, you hadn't been sent to Castle Dimitrescu upon your arrival. The Lady of the Castle had tried to get you to accompany her back to her home, but you declined the offer and she allowed it. You were shocked, to say the least, that the Lady had let you go back to your home unharmed, but she vowed that you'd be under her protection and that nothing would happen to you as long as you stayed here in the village.

Now, here you were watching another woman who was the Head of House Beneviento. She didn't come into the village often and when she did, she never spoke herself, she used her doll, you didn't know her name. You never questioned it because why would you? So when the woman walked up to you, you were surprised by the visit.

"Oh, good afternoon, Lady Beneviento." You greeted, your hand over your face so you could block out the sunlight a bit.

She nodded her head before the doll spoke. "What's your name?" She asked.

"Um, it's Y/N, My Lady. What's yours?" You replied.

The doll pointed to the Lady in black. "That's Donna, and I'm Angie." Angie said.

"Oh, those are beautiful names. If I'm right, Donna means world ruler and Angie means angel, messenger of God." You said. "Both meanings are very fitting."

Angie walked closer to you. "How so?" Angie asked.

"Well, Gods and Goddesses can be viewed as world rulers and if you're Lady Beneviento's messenger, so to speak, then we must be in the presence of a Goddess, little angel." You responded with a small smile to the doll. You glanced up at Lady Beneviento before looking back at Angie. "But, um, is there anything I can do for the two of you?" You asked.

Angie made the motion of wanting to be picked up, you looked up at Lady Beneviento for approval before doing so. "Mistress Donna would like to know if you would paint us." Angie said. "She said she'd pay you for it."

"Oh, I, well, I would love to paint the both of you." You replied. "I could, well, I guess I could come by House Beneviento whenever it's good for you two."

Angie shook her head. "Mistress Donna says it wouldn't be safe for you to come to the House." Angie said.

You furrowed your brows a bit. "Well, I could do it at my house instead. I'd have to clean it, but we can definitely get it done there if that's okay." Angie nodded her head. "Good. I guess just let me know what day would be a good day to get the painting done."

Angie hopped off your lap and went to be held by Lady Beneviento. She whispered something into Lady Beneviento's ear before looking back at you. "Mistress Donna says Wednesday would be a most pleasant day for the painting."

You smiled up at them. "Wednesday, it is then. I'll be expecting you." You replied. Angie said bye to you from her and Mistress Donna before they walked away from you. You quickly made your way back to your home, avoiding eye contact and conversation with anybody who witnessed your encounter with Lady Beneviento. You let out a small sigh before you began cleaning.

Wednesday came before you knew it, but at least you had most of your place cleaned and organised for your guests. As you finished setting up where you would do the painting there was a faint knock on the door. You let out a shaky breath before opening the door.

"Lady Beneviento, Angie, hi." You greeted as you let them into your home.

"Hi, Y/N. Mistress Donna and I are very excited about the painting today. I was so excited about it last night that I couldn't even sleep!" Angie exclaimed as Lady Beneviento carried her.

You flushed at her excitement. "Well, I'm glad you were excited, but I do hope you got some sleep. You know sleep is very important." You replied. "So this is where I'm going to do the painting. I'll start by sketching the two of you first and then I'll paint it. It'll take a few hours at least, but I should have the two of you home before dark." You explained.

"Y/N?" Angie called out.

You turned around. "Yes?"

"Mistress Donna would like to know if it's okay if she takes off her veil for the painting." Angie said. You nodded your head. "You won't be scared of her scar, will you?" Angie asked.

"Oh, precious angel, no. Lady Beneviento is still a Goddess, with or without her scar." You said with a smile. Angie hugged your leg as Lady Beneviento slowly undid her veil. You let out a small gasp. "See? Your Lady's a Goddess, Angie." You said to the doll and you could see a small blush colour Lady Beneviento's cheeks.

"You- you really think?" Lady Beneviento asked softly. It was the first time you had ever heard her speak, her voice sounded like honey. You nodded your head. "Thank you, um, Y/N."

"You're welcome, Lady Beneviento." You replied.

"Donna." You raised your eyebrow slightly. "In your lovely home, Donna will do just fine." She said with a soft smile.

You nodded you head slightly. "Alright then, Donna." You said. "How about we get started?" You suggested. Donna bit her lip before hesitantly moving over to the chair you set out for her. "Is something wrong? We don't have to do the painting if you don't want to."

Donna shook her head. "N-no, I want to. I just, can you, never mind." She waved the thought off.

You moved closer to her, taking her hand in yours. "Hey, listen, I'll do whatever you want me to do." You said.

"Mistress Donna is a bit self-conscious about her scar, Y/N." You looked at Angie. "Mistress Donna was wondering if you'd paint her an eye instead of painting her scar."

You nodded your head before looking back at Donna. "Is that what you would like, Donna?" You asked. She nodded her head. "I can do that. If that's what you want then I can do that." You replied.

"Mistress Donna says thank you." Angie said motioning for you to pick her up.

You have a small smile. You placed Angie on Donna's lap before asking a question. "Are you two... connected?"

"In a way, yes." Donna replied.

You hummed. You sketched her and Angie mostly in silence, occasionally asking her to turn a certain way. It took you a few hours to sketch them out like you had that it would, but you wouldn't have enough time to get it fully done to give it to her before dark.

"I didn't realise how late it was getting." You said when you looked at the clock. "I apologise for keeping you in town for so long." You stood up from your seat and looked at Angie. "You should probably get this little angel to bed soon, My Lady."

Donna frowned a bit. "Donna, please. I'd like for you to call me Donna." She replied. You simply nodded your head at her request. "I suppose we should get going. Could you hold her while I do this?" She asked, gesturing towards the black veil on your couch.

"Of course." You said as you took the doll from her lap and held her.

"Y/N, can I tell you something?" Angie asked. You smiled at her and leaned your ear down to her. You let out a soft gasp at what she told you. "Is that so? I'll be sure to make it extra special then, just for Donna... and you too, angel." You replied to the doll softly.

It wasn't long before you waving goodbye to the two of them as they headed back to their home. You had agreed on Sunday for Donna and Angie to come back for the painting, and they did. You'd just woken up when you heard the knock on your door. Smiling to yourself you made your way over to let them in.

"Donna, Angie, you're here early!" Nonetheless, you allowed them into your home. "I need a shower, but make yourselves comfortable. I made some tea if you'd like to have some, Donna, cups are in the cabinet on the right." You called over your shoulder as you made your way into the bathroom. When you came out, you found Angie asleep on your couch with Donna's veil over her while Donna was sat in a chair sipping on a cup of tea. "Angie must be really tired if she's sleeping right now." You said, looking at the sleeping doll fondly, a small smile on your face.

Donna let out a small laugh. "She, um, didn't get much sleep last night. And when Angie is restless then so am I." Donna replied. Looking her over, you did notice that she looked a bit tired. "It's no bother to me, I enjoy keeping her company." She quickly added upon seeing the concerned look on your face.

"I don't doubt that one bit." You said. "How have you been?" You asked.

"Same old, same old. Mother Miranda called a meeting for the Lords and warned us of some outsider coming to the village soon, to make sure we're prepared for his arrival." Donna explained. "I have no doubt that Alcina or Heisenberg will get their hands on him before me and Moreau get a chance at him and I wouldn't mind it one bit, to be honest."

"Speaking of Lady Dimitrescu, she tried to pursue me once, but I turned her down. Quite frightening that I lived through it." You said as you sighed into your cup of tea. Donna arched her eyebrow. "She said something about how I reminded her of someone she once knew a long time ago. It was very flattering, I guess, but I had no idea what she was going on about." You explained.

Donna looked at her cup, tapping her fingers on it. "A past lover, I assume." She said softly. You couldn't help the laugh you let out in disbelief. "I'm serious. Alcina has had some lovers come back to her, reincarnated and all that, it never slips past her when a past lover returns to the village." Donna said. "But never have I heard of one passing her up."

You shrugged a bit. "She's a beautiful woman, of course, but nothing compared to you, Donna." You replied and you could see her blush at the compliment as she waved it off. You put your cup down to take her hand in yours as you had done the last time she was here. "I, um, I mean it. You're a Goddess, Donna, you're picture perfect." You said as you leaned closer to her, staring into her eyes, your lips only a few inches from her.

Donna let out a shaky breath. "Speaking of picture perfect, the portrait?" She said before clearing her throat, breaking you out of the trance the two of you seemed to be in.

You jumped up, scratching the back of your head. "Yes, the portrait." You smiled as you went over to get it. You spoke to her as you walked back over to where she was sitting. "A little angel, not naming any names, told me that today was a very special day so I tried to make it extra special for you, Donna." You took the sheet you had over the painting off and waited for her reaction.

You stared at the lady in black sitting in one of your chairs with curious eyes as she stared at the portrait, observing it before she looked up at you with tears in her eyes. Donna stood up from her chair and pulled you into a hug. "It's perfect. So, so perfect. Thank you." Donna said into your ear softly sending a small shiver down your spine as she pulled away. You expected her to sit back down, but instead she studied your face before she leaned in to kiss you. It took you a second to register what was happening before you reciprocated the kiss, pushing your lips into hers a bit before she pulled away. "Was that, did I overstep?" She asked.

You shook your head. "No. Not at all." You said before you kissed her again, a small smile on your face. You reluctantly pulled away. "I'm glad you liked the portrait. Happy Birthday, Donna."

Donna gave you a small smile in return as she returned to her seat, stealing a glance over at the still sleeping doll. "Angie's not going to be pleased that I saw it without her. Or about the fact that we..." Her voice trailed off as she touched her lips before looking up at you. "Put the sheet back on it?" She asked.

"Of course. Wouldn't want the little angel to miss out on such a special moment, would we?" Donna let out a laugh as she shook her head at your question. In all honesty, you hadn't expected to fall for Donna Beneviento, but you were glad you turned down Lady Dimitrescu if it meant you got to make this Goddess of a woman smile and laugh any chance you could.

☆ “dearest, must I say how beautiful your art is? because I think you’re having a different opinion than me.” he saw the way your ears reddened after hearing his compliment. you put your sketchbook over your face, only letting the eyes show, “you’re too nice kazuha, my art is nothing beautiful.” so you said.

he almost sighed when you downplayed your ability yet again, well as your lover, kazuha is more than pleased to assist you in gaining more confidence. he wouldn’t want to see his favorite artist feels bad about her own art as kazuha loves it.

↬ the poet loves to admire your art, he loves to watch you drawing, he loves to see you get shy when you noticed he was staring at you as you quickly hide your drawing. so by no means does he love watching you be proud of your own art with a bright smile on your face despite it rarely happening.

☆ you peeked from your sketchbook to see kazuha staring back at you, your eyes scurried from him to your sketch of him and back to him. “ah! it’s.. you look beautiful there so I thought.. I want to draw it, sorry.”

the light haired warrior stayed still at his spot and with a voice that seemed softer than ever to your ears, he said, “it’s alright, I rather would like to see how my love perceives me, you wouldn’t mind that right?” his words received your usual bright smile as a response. to smile that bright just because of his selfish request, you were too sweet for this world.

↬ kazuha appreciates that you’re letting him go through your sketchbook but how should he explain the way his heart beat flutters with each drawing of him. you who’s in front of him looks like she wants to cry from embarrassment the time you realized that there were many drawings of your lover in said book.

☆ “ah.. so this is how you see me.. I’m honoured.” kazuha let a smile up his face. did you cast magic in this drawing? if not then why can he feel your love from your drawing?

you were sitting beside him, enduring the embarrassment you feel every time he compliments your art. yet you can sense he was genuine about it and you are happy with it. “no, that’s just a drawing.. the way I see you is much more blinding than words or pencils can describe, because I love you.” after saying that, you immediately put your forehead on kazuha’s shoulder. looking at the pretty ground while your boyfriend chuckles.

↬ in knowing that you’ve such artistic abilities, albedo was proud of you. but that wasn’t the case for you. he wonders why you tend to downplay your art when in fact it’s one of the best in mondstadt. maybe in teyvat as a whole but the man has no way to know that with his piled up works. you’re his lover who he so much adores, akin to an angel some had said.

☆ albedo glanced at your drawing figure before shortly continuing his experiment with a smile barely visible on his face. you probably had noticed his mood shifting, that’s the reason you asked him if something good happened. “I was just looking at you.” the male said as he noted something in his experiment. whether you figure out what he was implying behind his words are up to you.

and judging from your gradually reddening face, you figured it out.

↬ sometimes when albedo has free times, you two will take a walk around mondstadt and if spotted a pretty scenery, you’ll stop by to rest there. maybe whip out a sketchbook and leave trails of the view on a paper with a pencil. view of the nature, of the creatures around it and also view of your lover.

☆ you tugged on albedo’s shirt, pointing at the tree nearby. it’s pretty big and able to act as a shade from the sun’s light. there were also flowers growing scattered. a nice place to rest and sketch without any disturb. albedo doesn’t seem to have any reason to deny which led them under said tree.

arriving there and going through your bag, you just realized you forgot to bring your sketching tools. a shame really. the alchemist decided that his next art should be you considering how long it has been since you both had the chance to leisure around like this. you who have nothing to do instead of playing with your boyfriend’s hair, excitedly did up a natural pose. albedo’s drawing is your favorite in the whole universe and every time you see yourself on someーmore than half actuallyーcanvas of his, you’ll always be immensely touched by that.

↬ you don’t really favor showing your art to others which explained why you usually draw somewhere closed off or where people rarely visit. or maybe you just draw in your room. albedo frequently catches you in an action of observing your current process. a coloured canvas in front of you, one hand holding the palette and one hand the brush.

☆ the alchemist also frequently catches you in an action of sleeping with your favorite pencil in hand and your sketch beside your sleeping face. possibility that you were waiting for him to come home until you fell asleep. albedo feels guilty for having you wait for him that long but he also wants to be selfish and relish the fact that you waited for him.

Hey guys! I've decided to make a post here to use as my commission sheet, as I find it'll be easier to update with if I make any changes or have new options available.

I will draw: Humans and humanoids, furries, animals, creatures, simple robots/mechas, fan characters, fan art, light gore/violence and suggestive themes.

I will refuse: NSFW, heavy gore and violence, anything political or possibly illegal, anything that may be deemed as harassment against another person.

I do try to work as fast as I can. But I do ask that you please be patient with me. Sometimes I get caught up in life's shenanigans. If you require a piece by a certain deadline though, I'll do my best to meet it. More detailed work also takes longer than a simpler piece would.

I will draw up an initial sketch first, and once you are satisfied with it, I will request a down payment of $10.

The cost to add additional characters is $15.

I will send you WIPs throughout the drawing process to ensure you are satisfied with the progress, and to allow you to request changes to the commission as you see fit. Once the work is completed, I will request the full payment. Your satisfaction is my priority!

“Im asking you as your friend put a end to me” ☆ The art ☆ This a re-draw of my first kingdom hearts fan art i draw it back in April last year just before finishing bbs it was the first time id draw humans since October 2019 and yeah in the original it definitely shows with my re-draw i wanted to change the pose and expression kinda when a bit over board though i was listening to the drawfee video where they muck around in clip studio with the 3D models and i though “hey maybe i can look up clip studio 3d models and use that as a pose reference instead of the pose the original was trying to copy in the first place” so i did it’s definitely not perfect the clothes were a real struggle and i still dont think they look right but apart from the the back hand im so proud (pun intended) I completely changed the pose and i think it payed off and mine the gap as we jump ship drawing hands sucks i hate it but ven’s front hand for some incompetence able reason was my favourite part to draw ☆ changes ☆ -as established in the prior paragraph i changed the pose so ven is swinging his key blade right at you rather then hovering in mind air or whatever he’s doing -i also changed the odd bit of armour cuz as cool as the bbs trios armour is its such a pain to draw especially at weird ageless -speaking of pain to draw coloured lines in sketch book auto desk so those are gone to -i made the lighter line of the circle thicker -removed ventus’s name instead erasing a line around him -and colour picked from ven’s heart station vs his model or the old art and the second most notable change ☆ Why are ventus eyes green?” ☆ simple i saw a mode once where ventus had green eyes and i though it looked cool and that there are to many characters with blue eyes so from then on i decided to give ven green eyes (also just saying green and red are opposites on the colour weel) ☆ Time taken ☆ im not sure i drew this over the course of three days (probably could have gotten it done in two but i got side tracked playing ace attorney) -☆in conclusion☆- Ventus is best boi!Green eyes supremacy!! play bbs it amazing!!! Can I request for both Levi and Moblit moving in with their s/o in their first apartment ever. Like they have good jobs, and a good income but an appartement is not finished right away. So relationship phase where they are trying to make their house feel like a home and make ends meet. Can you write something like that for Moblit and Levi and their s/o’s ? Thank you!

Hello! You most certainly can, I apologise I went a bit off topic and more into the 'how they'd make the apartment feel like home'. But tried to bring it back round to fit the criteria! I do think they'd both be wonderful to move in with ♥

Moblit

When Moblit and his s/o finally decide to move into an apartment together, Moblit couldn’t be more excited. Due to his nature he would have to be absolutely certain before agreeing to this and therefore it’s likely he’ll have been with his partner for some time (and also discussed the move with Hanji at great lengths).

Before the move Moblit wants to plan everything to ensure nothing goes wrong, he packs up his belongings in a fashion where everything is carefully wrapped, everything is labeled and moved in order of how much the two of them will need things. He also helps his s/o with their packing, labelling etc.

Moblit buys a bag’s worth of items needed in the apartment for as soon as he and his s/o get there. It includes tea bags, milk, toilet roll, some biscuits, soap, a hand towel, air freshener, candle. He also leaves out a picture that he and his s/o bought together while on a trip away. So before they go to sleep for the first night the picture is up in the apartment and starts to feel like it’s their own.

Moblit is pretty organised and so the apartment wouldn’t be too messy for long and soon starts to feel like home.

He struggles a bit with the new routine and both him and his s/o have silly fights over the bathroom/shower in the morning. They also struggle with putting things back into the same cupboard and what to do when the other moves something they need.

But all of the above is teething issues, the same for anyone who is getting used to living with someone for the first time. Although Moblit finds it a little frustrating at first, he isn’t angry and rather he’s more worried his s/o will think it’s a bad idea and change their mind.

But due to Moblit’s kind nature and his ability to see the positive in situations, he and his s/o see the workings out of the new apartment as a fun challenge they have to figure out together and soon instead of petty arguments they have playful fights and end up dancing together in a silly fashion in their small kitchen or sharing showers.

It’ll take a few weeks to a month while he and his s/o are unpacking and figuring things out.

There’s far more takeaway than they initially imagined.

They buy little herb trays to keep in the kitchen so they can source a few fresh ingredients when they do start to cook. The first lot die as they realise they’ve both been watering them at the same time, or thinking the other one will do it. They are far more successful with the second lot, from chives to lemon balm, they have quite the selection.

When it comes to decorating, there’s a few rooms where they decide together and then they have one room which is ‘their’ project, they can choose the colour scheme for half of the room each. What they each do ends up matching.

It takes around three months for Moblit and his s/o to really settle in, be completely unpacked, decorated and used to sharing a living space. But once they’re settled Moblit thinks it was one of the best decisions they’ve ever made.

Whoever is home first starts dinner, they share the cooking/cleaning/laundering and so everything is done fairly equally with no pestering or reminders.

Either Friday or Saturday night every week is their date night, whether staying in or going out, it usually finishes with romantic dancing in the kitchen and being silly/playing pranks.

Moblit is usually the first to wake so he’ll be up and opening the curtains in the living areas, making tea/coffee, feeding any pets they have and watering plants on their balcony. He always let’s his s/o sleep in unless they really have to be up in which case he wakes them gently.

They have a flat warming party, it’s themed, likely 1920s/gangster/flapper girls themed with a table to play poker and cocktails including the old-fashioned, and dark and stormy. Hanji has never been prouder of Moblit.

Getting used to paying rent together is something new and with the bills, food, tax etc. the first few months are certainly a learning curve. They get creative with dinners and DIY, learn how to fix things instead of relying on buying new.

Baked beans on toast with a little cheese, a bowl of cereal, or soup and homemade bread that’s risen poorly end up becoming staple meals for a while until things are more settled.

But the joy of waking up next to one another means the world and makes their financial situation worth it. Having enough money to survive and occasionally treat themselves/do nice things is all they need when they have the other by their side. Moblit will frequently remind his s/o of this and just how rich they each are to have one another.

If they’re cold in winter they have a large supply of over-sized jumpers, cosy socks and blankets. And love nothing more than to cuddle up together.

Any money spare they have for small simple pleasures like coffee out, hiring a rowing boat for half hour, a few beers to drink in the park, a drive-in movie… All these things will be reflected later on in life as some of their happiest moments shared together. The simplicity and how grateful they both were for those small moments of joy, simple pleasures and to share it with one another is the greatest gift of all.

Levi

Before he and his s/o move into their new apartment, Levi cleans it from top to bottom. No area of the apartment goes untouched by him, he needs it to be perfect not just for him but also for his s/o.

Levi isn’t someone who would go into this lightly and it would take a long time (much like with Moblit) to feel ready to move into an apartment with his s/o. There would be a lot of long conversations with them about the pros and cons and Levi would want to establish some rules before they commit. Not in a controlling way you understand, more so that both he and his s/o have a chance to air any concerns and things they would want/expect from one another if they were to move in together and to ensure they were on the same page.

Levi would also want to go to the apartment with his s/o before they move to put a few homely touches in place before they technically move in so it already feels like theirs and has their ‘scent’ as it were. Even if they move into a bed and breakfast or with friends for a few nights before the apartment is ready. Levi would rather do this than try to achieve everything in one day and be in a panic.

Levi’s cool and calm nature certainly means that the move isn’t stressful, things are orderly and if anything goes wrong Levi is on hand to amend/sort and help keep his s/o calm. Although Levi isn’t into PDA, he knows just how to reach his s/o and say he’s there for her. It might be a squeeze of the shoulder, a quick hug when no one is looking, a glance with a small reassuring smile or a quick ruffle of his s/o’s hair.

The first night in the apartment sees them sleeping on a mattress on the floor surrounded by boxes. There’s a few candles lit as they haven’t topped up the electric meter (despite how organised Levi is, he curses himself a bit for that). They have a takeaway and make a fortress of pillows etc. It’s romantic in a way Levi didn’t think he’d be capable of.

Of course the first thing to be unpacked is a kettle, tea bags etc. Before any work commences they sit down and enjoy a cuppa at the kitchen table. There’s a small vase with a few flowers Levi has bought in it. That first cup of tea in the apartment is the best Levi has ever taken and it’s the moment he knows he’s made a great choice.

The first week of unpacking and sorting the apartment goes really well and the two of them work together perfectly. Within just a few days their bedroom is pretty much sorted and things start to fall into place.

Unfortunately, the rest of the unpacking doesn’t go as smoothly, everything is tidy, yes, but a lot of it is tidy in boxes. This is mostly because they’re both so busy with their jobs and agree they’d rather just unpack one box at a time to keep things tidy instead of opening loads of boxes and living in mess.

They end up writing up a Rota for painting/DIY etc. at weekends.

Levi and his s/o buy several simple recipe books and learn to cook new, simple and cheap meals together. It becomes an activity they really look forward to as it brings them closer together and often there’s little moments of laughter, sauce on the nose etc.

When they are settled and everything is in place they invite a few of their closest friends over for a sophisticated dinner party to celebrate.

Their apartment becomes quite the hub for their circle of friends with dinner parties and cocktail making classes. Levi is in his element, it takes him a while to allow others to help him clean up and trust them but with reassure from his s/o he does start to relax.

When Levi and his s/o are experiencing little income (or rather little spare cash) they like to pretend they’ve gone out for a meal.

One of their other favourite past times is going for long walks in the woods, countryside, round a lake. They take a picnic to save money with flasks of tea and a few items that they’ve made together. They also take food for the ducks/geese. Levi likes to sketch his s/o while they’re reading. They read poetry to one another, scribble little creative notes and love to roll round in the grass when no one is around.

Much like with Moblit and his s/o, some of the happiest memories Levi and s/o have from their early days of living together are these moments of making the best of what they had.

Week 5 - Sketching

I really enjoyed this week’s tasks. I learnt so much during the tutorial and after class too. When Rob first mentioned that we would be doing sketching warm-up exercises, I didn’t think it would make a difference to my sketches. Prior to that tutorial, I had never gone out of my way to do warm-up exercises, I usually just go straight into the task. The warm-ups consisted of drawing different shapes, lines, forms of all different sizes and perspectives (Images 01-03). I found this part very therapeutic and calming…but still didn’t think it would affect my sketches later!!! To my surprise, once we started sketching different redesigns of the Olay Moisturizer Bottle, I found it was so much easier to sketch?! My hand, wrist and arm felt looser and more relaxed. Instead of being hesitant able every stroke I made, I felt more confident in them and less worried about them not being “perfect”. I will definitely be implementing this to my regular sketching/drawing regime.

It was so nice to dig out my art markers and practice making my sketches look more realistic (Image 06). I haven’t used these markers since high school (I have no idea why!!!) and had forgotten all the different techniques I had learnt. So, I spent about an hour on YouTube watching tutorials on how to use markers to enhance my sketches. One key thing I remembered about my markers were that they sometimes bleed through the paper. Therefore, I decided to use tracing paper as the markers were less likely to bleed through and the colours/shades were able to blend together better.

During the tutorial, we got to watch the tutors complete the warm-up exercises as well as their redesigns of the bottle. It was fascinating to see each tutor’s different styles and techniques when sketching. They were all able to effortlessly come up with such clean, high quality sketches/designs! This is definitely a goal I have for the end of this course, to be able to have more confidence when sketching!

One thing I would work on for my future sketches, especially with markers, I would need to experiment with more paper types, pens, and markers. I am still looking for the best pen to use for sketching that doesn’t smudge or bleed (being left-handed doesn’t help!) when it comes into contact with the markers. However, one trick I found was that I should render the sketch with the markers first, before going over it in pen as it reduces the likeliness of smudging and bleeding.

Side note: the two larger drawings in Image 06 are to scale and the smaller ones were just for practicing with the markers!
