This is a scene from one of the best things I’ve ever read, book or fanfic, Blind, But Now by aperplexingpuzzle on ao3 (currently @ghirahimbo here)! I cannot recommend this story enough!

If a legend is a regal and intricately woven tapestry, hung on a distant wall, then BBN is that tapestry up close. It takes the legend and lets you see the threads, lets you feel the texture. Every knot, every spot worn smooth over time. The story sees both the original image and the pieces that make up the image. It looks at how the journey weathered the tapestry, looking at the broken threads, the frayed and discolored spots, and sees an image made all the more beautiful because it doesn’t just tell the story of the legend but the story of the tapestry.

This scene really gave me such a deep, almost physical feeling of the heat and immensity of the region. It stays with me and is one of the first scenes that comes to mind when I think about the story. I was hoping to catch a little of that, plus the overall feeling of their encounter, that edge of potential. Potential danger and potential.. something else.

Painting I did during DnD last night (small practice for a commission for a buddy I have in the works)

1: Favorite color to work with

Never really thought about it before! I don’t think I actually have a specific color (maybe greens or reds, but I’m not sure those aren’t just often-used as opposed to well-liked), but the eyestrain, bright yellow/red/teal/blue palette definitely fits the bill, it’s Very fun to use. Gold’s fun to render, too.

8: Show some art from 1-2 years ago

Boye. 1-2 years is a large time frame. I’m taking it to mean anything between one and two years ago, which pretty much lands everything in 2021. I’m not sure if this was supposed to be pieces I actually still like or an accurate representation of that year, I’ll choose the first, as I wouldn’t consider most of it terribly interesting.

Feb 18 - one of my very few lineless pieces, for a person I engaged in frequent art trades with

Sep 4 - yeah we sure are gonna skip seven months, here’s one of the first times I used a non-black color for shading/lineart: a beloved older OC, mosa :]

Sep 28 - A cropped screenshot from a time I tried pixel art again. Surprisingly, it wasn’t connected to any media or world of mine, I just had an idea for an animation (...that did become the basis for a lesser fictional world). Unfortunately the file’s autosave was overwritten and it wasn’t finished, so a couple screenshots and a video of my progress are all that remain of it

18: How long have I been drawing? When did I begin to call myself an artist?

Funny thing is I was just wondering about that. I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil, I've had long phases of experimenting with clay and origami and pipe cleaners, five years ago I made an art folder for school that was so filled by my various drawings and doodles it's now two inches thick (I carried it around with me everywhere, no matter the circumstance), four years ago I added pixel art to the menagerie, and yet I only actually considered myself an artist two years ago. That was when I was gifted an old art tablet, and thus began what I've previously described as a personal renaissance, as I was allowed access to tools I never used before, diversified and improved, forgot everything I thought I knew about art to learn it again. Fun times.

idk if i'll end up with anything nice enough to post but i am finally out of art block for now and am working on redesigning my designs of the trio

#my old designs just don't have the right vibes #tbf i came up with those designs on the spot and just kinda went with them #no thought put into them just my first instincts #rn i only have a couple designs of yellow guy but so far he looks a lot more accurate #absolutely not looking forward to duck though i know he's gonna be a pain to figure out #i've never been great at drawing animals and birds are no exception #like what is going on with that beak #idk i probably won't get to him any time soon though i'm being too much of a perfectionist and spending way too much time on each doodle #why did i commit to making all of these fully colored and shaded #well not fully shaded since i'm not doing all the highlights but mostly shaded #this is why i keep getting in an endless cycle of art block #j draw one (1) thing and then i put too much effort into it so it takes a week to finish #and then i take some time to not draw because i just did a big thing #and then i forget that drawing is actually fun and have art block for a month #and repeat #at this point i just gotta accept that this is how it is and as soon as i finish these doodles i'm gonna be back to art block #oops my adderal kicked in and i've been stuck rambling in the tags oopsie #i'm not gonna go through and edit any of these tags #i need to stop #anaacdotes #update: frick i did the designs and never posted them i should do that whoops

mini dedication essay to black simmers and ts4 creators below! pls read if you have the chance! <3

this edit is a small homage to afrofuturism and the various unique black hairstyles (and especially the black creators of most of these hairs) that i have downloaded and admired over the years! some of these are old and some of these are new.

to me, afrofuturism means constantly honoring/reclaiming/challenging the past while constantly creating/dreaming of a better society/world/future. a society/world/future that embraces and empowers all of our differences, ingenuity, aspirations, and unique lived/cultural experiences. a society/world/future that does not limit us through the various systems of marginalization and oppression (racism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia, sexism, xenophobia, ableism, classism, colorism, etc.) that often affects how we, as black people, live today.

blackness is so diverse and intricate yet it's always been a struggle to find my culture within a game that's known for being so limiting, bland, and extremely eurocentric when it comes to hairstyles, clothing, food traditions/events, etc. black simmers have always had to figure out how to make this game more inclusive and make it resemble either more like how our ancestors lived, how our current lives are, or how we would want our lives (and even our children's lives) to look like in the future no matter how dystopian the real world look and feel now. fortunately, these hairs and their uniqueness bring a huge sense of culture and style to this game. they have always inspired me and made me feel extremely proud to a part of the lovely african diaspora (and the ever-growing black simmer community).

in a way, being a black simmer and cc creator usually means that we are often digitally creating our own worlds as afrofuturists to varying degrees (whether we know it or not) every time we open our game, make our sims, make houses, and/or make black cultural cc. also, now i know that cc making is not easy to do and is extremely time-consuming so this post is also just me giving all black cc creators especially those who create for free their well-deserved flowers! here are some other black cc creators who created cc that have greatly impacted my game since i first started playing sims 4: @/leeleesims1 @/simtric @/hi-land @/yuyulie @/sims4bradshaw @/ebonixsims @/xmiramira @/sheabuttyr @/qwertysims @/oplerims @/sleepingsims @/shespeakssimlish and so many more im forgetting probably (im too shy rn to tag ppl but i greatly appreciate y’all fr i hope y’all telepathically get this message somehow 😭).

After I made this post I was honestly surprised and so happy with all the positive responses and lots and lots of people saying they were interested. Sooooo .... I decided to organize a little something for the holiday season!!!

How to participate?

1. Track the #bobcollab tag to keep up with new content

2.You can put one of the following icons in your bio or pinned post, to let others know that you are willing to participate

How to start a collab?

- You can ask your fav content creator using the askbox/DM, send the details, exchange ideas or ask for feedback, something like:

"Hey *insert awesome content creator* I saw your *creator's art* and I have *this* idea. Would you be interested in doing a collab?"

- By making a post about it. Don't forget to use #bobcollab so everyone can see it. You can explain whatever you are planning and/or mention what are you looking for like:

"Hello everyoneI have this amazing moodboard, is anyone interested in writing a fic about it"

or maybe even like:

"I have *this* specific fic idea would anyone be interested in doing the art cover/banner?

Synopsis: Mal loves talking. Tyril is tired of listening and has found a good way to shut him up, even if just for a moment.

"I'm tellin' you Elf Boy, I'm the best storyteller of all. I mean, my tales have got it all—adventure, romance, danger. People hang on to every word I say."

Tyril raised an eyebrow. "Are the people in question the orphan children you've rescued?"

"And, don't forget all the countesses I've charmed." A devilish smirk pulled on the rogue's lips.

"Yes, I'm sure Daenarya would love to hear more about that particular group," Tyril chastised. "Shall I call her over so she can hear of your stories?"

"She would enjoy them."

"I believe I recall her insisting you cease revisiting such stories."

"That was before Contessa Mariabella." He wagged his brow playfully.

Tyril shook his head slightly before walking away.

"You're not going to ask?" Mal followed quickly behind, hurrying to keep up with the elf's longer stride.

Tyril's step quickened in an attempt to avoid the human.

"I had met Contessa Mariabella years ago—and may have relieved her of a prized necklace—" Mal began, now at a jogging pace. "We ran into her at a party in White Tower, and Mariabella had more than a few choice words for me, but Daenarya—well, she and the Countess hit it off, and one thing led to another. Now, as long as we share, Contessa's are back on."

"Do you ever stop talking?" Tyril stopped short.

Mal stumbled into him at the abrupt stop but quickly regained his balance with a smirk. "Why would I stop talking? As I said I'm a master storyteller."

Tyril took measured breaths, trying to suppress the growing, weary sigh at his tedious ramblings.

"That reminds me of the time when—"

The rogue's words were cut off by the elf's lips pressed against his own. Mal's eyes widened at the unexpected gesture, his voice finally silenced by Tyril's decisive kiss. His lips pulled up, and he circled his arms around the elf's neck. The world around them faded away as the pair surrendered to the warmth and desire building between them.

Tyril's lips were firm but tender. Mal's mouth yielded to his lead, letting the elf deepen the kiss at his pace.

The kiss was over too quickly for the rogue, but he knew it wouldn't be their last.

A violet hue still flushed on the elf's face as he took a step back, attempting to compose himself. "Right. We should rejoin the others now."

"Don't pretend you didn't enjoy that, Elf boy." A mischievous grin spread proudly on his face. "Words aren't the only thing I have a way with." He winked and blew a kiss his way.

Tyril pinched the bridge of his nose, massaging his brow. It had worked for a moment, but only a moment—one very satisfying and enjoyable moment.

"You're insufferable," Tyril sighed, a mixture of exasperation and contentment.

Mal's roguish grin only widened. "I knew you couldn't resist me, Elf boy."
