i think one part of why i love the movie “emperor’s new groove” so much and why it’s a comfort movie of mine is because there’s literally zero romance nor talk about it nor anything in general (except for pacha and his family, but that’s a pre-established relationship which i don’t really mind most of the time, especially if it’s a family). and the scene where kuzco dismisses all girls and thinks that none are good enough for him could be read as him being aroace (and in my head him being aroace is canon). i’m not aro myself, but am not a big fan of the romance genre unless it’s queer (and sometimes not even that). i used to watch mostly animated movies to escape having to see romantic plots, but we all know it doesn’t work that way (which could sometimes be a bad thing and sometimes a good thing). but i managed to escape it with this movie and it’s been a favourite ever since i was little (and i think when i was little i liked the movie because of that reason too).
