Hi Emma! I really value your opinion, and I was just wondering about your thoughts on everything? I.E. the fandom, Louis… You always seem so levelheaded compared to others so I wanted to ask. Have a good night!

My only real thoughts about it are that it's really tiring to be in this fandom and see what's happening with Louis. On principle, I'm probably an exception to a lot of Larries in that I don't really care if he wants to dunk on Larries, though he chose a really stupid way to do it. A large group of these fans try to make everything he does about Harry and disrespect him regularly. For me, that's not the part that really bothers me.....it's everything that comes along with it.

I wish I understood the contradictory choices that Louis makes regularly but I just don't. He wants success and enjoys success, but he continues to surround himself with incompetent team members who don't promote him properly. He wants a broader audience to enjoy his music, but nobody outside of his existing fanbase ever hears about his music unless it's from fans' efforts. He wants people to take him seriously as a musician and is annoyed by Larries, yet he pushes other aspects of his personal life to the forefront of his public image through interviews, his documentary, and tweets. He's proud of his most recent album and feels that it represents him as an artist, yet he cuts those songs from his setlist on tour and performs covers instead. He cares more about touring than anything, but he frequently skips songs from his setlist, doesn't put effort into his stage outfits (or even hair sometimes now), and has said several times that he's hungover and not feeling his best during his shows. He adores his fans and treats them incredibly well most of the time, but the fan interactions that frequently get traction with a broader audience are things like yesterday's rude tweets or him aggressively flipping off fans who tried to rip his clothes at the barricade (as deserved as that may be, it's not really a good look).

It's just.....so incoherent? Like I truly don't understand why he and the people around him make the choices that they do based on what he himself says he wants and cares about.

He's playing some massive venues on his Latin American tour, which was just announced, and yesterday was the perfect opportunity to talk about that and push how excited he is about it during his Twitter reply spree. Instead, even 24 hours later, all people are talking about is his reply to that Larrie when he could have just fucking ignored that stupid ass tweet. A bunch of things related to that tweet were trending on Twitter - along with "Freddie" because of his two tweets about his supposed child - and now there are articles about another Larry denial. Is Louis on tour? Has he put out any albums? Is he still a musician at all? Nobody in the general public has any idea, but at least they know that he denies Larry on a near yearly basis and that he has a kid that is apparently his twin. Congrats!

And it's annoying because solo Louies are so busy enjoying that a Larrie got publicly dunked on that they can't even see that this kind of shit actually doesn't help Louis at all. Oh, sure, it's driving away fans! And I know that a lot of solo Louies think Louis would be better off without Larries (and trust me, I feel that about some Larries too when they're making everything about a relationship instead of his career) but the reality is that Louis shouldn't drive away fans. There are ways to deal with annoying fans that don't include publicly degrading them and making MORE fucking headlines about rumors that you supposedly want to die out. If he was actually trying to expand his fanbase and then tried to get rid of fans that aren't here to appreciate him as an individual or his solo career, I could respect that.....but that's not what's happening. Instead, he drives away existing fans and does nothing to add new ones.

As someone who has loved him since 2012 and wants nothing more than his success, watching his lost potential over the course of so many years has been one of the worst things ever. I see things like what happened yesterday and see the reactions to it (both people getting angry and leaving AND people rejoicing because they're too short-sighted to realize that this doesn't solve problems and only hurts Louis in the long-run) and I just roll my eyes. I'm not upset, I'm not angry, I'm just tired. It's hard to keep saying that you want better for someone who doesn't seem to want better for themselves.

I missed XZ and his long interviews, so this one he did for weibo night 22’ was such a treat. It truly gave us an insight on the things he did for the past few months and he is such a good person to interview! he is generous with his answers and is thoughtful with them too.

disclaimer that interview like this can definitely be enjoyed without the cpn-glasses on. that’s how it should be. but since i’m a turtle and this blog does cpn, i can’t help but point certain things out. the general point is, we see connections between them in these things cause we pay attention.

He is so very pretty and glowing in this interview. compared to his weibo tv & drama stint, where he was still smiling and all but you can tell that the mood is a bit off. Maybe it’s because he was able to spend time with wang yibis. 💕

• His goals and what he wants to do next truly mirrors that of WYB. even in WYB’s short speech, he mentions that he will work harder. I’ve said this multiple times but the goal they had in 2018, when they were still newbie actors still stands today. They never stop learning and want to improve. If they are gonna do something, they are gonna do it right. It would be easy, with their fame, to just go with the flow and let their fans do the rest. but no, they respect the profession and are willing to do the work.

I also like it when he says that people will see his growth in his works. It’s a WYB type of answer. I won’t tell you, see for yourself. I’m so excited to his new dramas tbh! Ace Troops was filmed 2020 so I can only imagine how much he has improved since then.

• The part of the interview that moved us, was him talking about a puppy-style warmth and how smiley he was while saying it. The kind of sweet smile you see when certain topics are brought up ⬇️⬇️⬇️

• Lastly, there is talk about ZZ choosing Deep Sea as a movie that he watched during the Spring Festival. I mean, we all know that he will not say Wuming. Even if he watched and loved it. Saying that will go on HS, and not in a good way, it will cause another rift between fandoms and it’s better to keep each other’s name out of their mouth.

Turtles have noticed that he said a lot of “fillers” and did not just answer the question directly like he did with others. So it’s like, he has something on his mind but ended up answering different. He also stopped and stuttered a bit and we take that as a cue that he is trying to hide something. LOL. Not to say that he didn’t enjoy Deep Sea, i’m pretty sure he loved it like he said he did.

honestly when i initially read this request when it was first sent in i already imagined it as "tired human dad raising powerful nonhuman kid to the best of his abilities" except itward is a skeleton whos been around for god knows how long, but same energy nonetheless... definitely tries to show you right from wrong and give you good morals... though you probably inherit some of itwards strange behaviors (general way of doing things, being kind of being zoned out because youre thinking about a ton of stuff, ectectect)

i really enjoyed hunters and was surprised that people hated it so much (keep in mind i was about 8 years late) do you think it would've gone over better if hunters leaned more into the silly and fun parts of the series? since it wasn't meant to be anything extravagant

If anything, I think the big issue really was just the time it came out. At the time Xros Wars and Hunters aired, the state of the Digimon franchise and fandom was kind of like this:

News about unlocalized Japanese anime was being covered, but it wasn't as accessible as it was now; even Anime News Network articles often had very minimal information, and there would be a lot of telephone gaming, let alone very few people who knew where to look for news to begin with

Digimon wasn't being simulcast, so people had to wait for the fansub group(s) to get to the episode whenever it aired (edit: it did actually start getting simulcast around Hunters, but by that point people were already committed to the fansub version)

For many people, this was the first Digimon series they were ever watching as proper adults and thus viewing with a non-nostalgic mindset they weren't approaching older series with (Savers was also this for some people, but Xros Wars was where probably the absolute majority of people watching were adults instead of teenagers)

On top of that, Xros Wars was the first anime series that wasn't "conventional" in certain ways; it wasn't a Seki series, and while Savers also wasn't a Seki series, it took so many clear cues from Seki's style (Digimon evolution being linked to human psychology, extensive family drama, etc.) that people still had a perception of Digimon series having to be written a certain way with a certain kind of character development

In such circumstances, I think even something like Ghost Game would have been ripped to absolute shreds. People had such a strong idea of what a Digimon series has to be like that even Xros Wars vanilla and Death Generals were very polarizing; there were enough people who could tell it was deliberately trying to be different and respected it for that, but its lack of human drama made tons of people immediately dismiss its characters as poorly written and claim that the series was all style and no substance.

Now of course, not only do we have Xros Wars, we also have Appmon and the reboot and Ghost Game and a bunch of other Digimon media of different kinds that are just so all over the place that none of us really know what to expect from Digimon anymore. Hunters might have gone over better just by happening to come out now, when we've had other things and more extensive Japanese media coverage that probably would have gotten the fanbase to learn much earlier about the timeslot circumstances and it being a stall series.

And nevertheless, even now you have people saying that Ghost Game is shallow with poorly written characters because they aren't written the way Adventure wrote its characters (not that I believe that any kind of Ghost Game criticism is inherently invalid, I just mean that even now, you can still sense a lot of the "a series must be written in the style Adventure started, or it's bad" sentiment in the air). But like I said, personally, I've watched a lot of kids' shows that are far shallower, less interesting, and less fun than Hunters, so it's never felt like something that's a big deal to me, plus I feel like I have better things to do with my time than go out of my way to single out something to hate because the Digimon franchise and the realm of kids' franchises as a whole are just too big for me to get overly hung up on one series. Sometimes I do wonder if part of the problem is that (or at least, it often feels this way to me) a lot of Digimon fans really don't have much scope of the fact that Digimon is ultimately just another kids' franchise in a wider industry, and thus treat it like it's some narrow closed vacuum-sealed room where there's only one way to write a series based on a precedent from 1999-2002 that isn't exactly replicable.

My take was that they were friends just not best friends or a complicated difficult one bc firstly it was Sh who forced the friendship when Hj prefered Sh was his hyung (and in my opinion they may had have a better relationship now if so but welp). Sh was very pushy and Hj had to accept it and then years later finally said he viewed him as friend lol

Also yk Sh loves skinship and Hj doesn't unless it's Yunho and sometimes the others if he initiates it. Then there is Hj prioritizing work, and the expectations Sh probably has, I'm projecting here from experience but I think it may apply to him to an extent that Sh doesn't truly totally accept those aspects from Hj sometimes and not respecting his boundaries (but generally he does) like in the beginning forcing the friendship, other times trying to hug him, making backhanded comments like he should be like this or that Hj is only good at celebrity things. And maybe building resentment from expectations not met, and that's just toxic to himself, and to Hj for putting on him those expectations, at the end he may never be satisfied and they could drift apart, but I think their work mostly, then their captain second mate same age relationship that they can't have with others, that also feels like karmic to me, and having things and values in common makes them stay good friends!

Other reasons I thought they weren't besties is simply bc they are so awkward they even say it themselves lmao and they seem to get along way better with other members! Like Sh with San and Wy specially and Hj with Wy and Yh(and it was so obvious with the skinship mostly with them I said), like Matz was forced but with the others it's so natural and just clicking well! With Yunho maybe if he was born months bf or he didn't follow so much the hierarchy rules, Hohong would be even better friends and rivaling Yungi!

I also thought that it could affect maybe having envy issues of how the members and fans treat them(the kind "mom" is liked better and allowed to be more feminine and the captain is viewed cooler and masculine, it's not balanced and they should be allowed to have both and treated equally). Also on their job projects. Like to me they sometimes are just two divas wanting the same on work related things like fashion and looks, being jealous and having friendly rivalry but also supporting eo :)

Oooh and other thing I was like? is Sh litterally saying that irl they Don't match like allergy but on STAGE they have great chemistry.

And fans just want to see the part that they have chemistry and ooh not only they are besties but they are couple!! When they are clearly just two queer friends SMH

I hate how fandom treats Fury as an antagonist who exists just to exploit the heroes or steal their secrets and create "tension". Such a lazy plot device. And also a disservice to the guy who actually wanted the Avengers to be a thing, and the one who had a connection to Steve well before any of the other Avengers. This is probably really obscure, but I love those little glimpses of a relationship between Rhodey and Nebula in Endgame. Like when she warns him about Scott being on the compound, and she calls him Rhodey. Not War Machine, Rhodey. And then they have that nice moment during the time heist together. Idk, it makes me wonder what kind of relationship (even if it is just friends!) they might have developed between IW and EG. Plus, I think they deserve a little bit of happiness.

I’ve been wondering this for a while, but I wasn’t quite sure how to phrase it kindly, because I do mean it kindly. I’ve followed you for a while and I feel like I’ve seen a lot of defending Mish, which is definitely sometimes warranted, but also sometimes feels like it comes at the expense of other fans. I guess what I am asking is: Do you think any criticism of Jensen or Misha is fair? When do you think fandom becomes toxic positivity? Even if Misha was/is queer, are we comfortable with him using bisexuality, topping, and queerness writ large as a punchline? Why is it okay for him but not Jared? Sorry this is getting long 🤪 but I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I'm going to try and respond to this with as much kindness as I can because I believe you put the effort into your phrasing but please understand this has been an invalidating and exhausting week for me personally for various reasons, and my kindness capacity and spoons are at negative five point two. (got long so here's the cut)

That being said, I've been fairly quiet on here in respect to the current situation, because I received actual death threats from people when I said something positive about Jensen after Denver and honestly since then expressing my opinion on this type of thing hasn't felt as safe or comfortable.

My view of the situation is that everyone is to blame including the fandom. I think the sooner we stop pointing fingers and trying to pin our COLLECTIVE BLAME (Misha, fans, tabloids, antis, assholes) on someone else and take accountability for our role in the situation, the better things will be. Yes, there was valid hurt on parts of fans who wanted to see a part of themselves in someone they admire and its absolutely justifiable to express that hurt. There's nothing reprehensible in saying "I thought he really meant what he said and now I am disappointed."

But hurt feelings and pain do not give anyone a blanket card to be completely and utterly horrible to strangers on the internet (which includes both fellow fans and Misha himself, because despite his openness with the fans - he remains a stranger to us. we do not know anything about his private life or identity. we are familiar with his public image).

I hate the word toxic positivity and honestly calling out others' behavior when it's inappropriate - in APPROPRIATE WAYS, is anything but this. But the vitriol and lashing out I see all around me is not coming from Misha. It is coming from the fans.

In respect to the joke commentary, I do not think Misha has ever treated actual queerness as a punchline. yes, he has made jokes (of a lesser extent than other jokes I see here daily and frankly find over the top myself at times, regardless of the way a person making that joke identifies), but in my personal opinion the community is not nor has ever been treated as the butt of those jokes. If anything everyone laughed along with him, and encouraged him to make more. There's also an entire essay I'd like to write separately that delves into heteronormative standards that are engrained within each of us whether we like it or not but its too much and probably too soon for me to open that dialogue. It suffices for now to say, that in my personal opinion - if we're going to delve into the appropriateness of a joke, I think that appropriateness stems from the joke itself and not the identity of the person making it. You don't get to flash a queer card to excuse the perpetuation of homophobia, even in a humorous way (if Misha has made jokes to this level I agree he should apologize, but that should have also been called out in the moment instead of 'permitted because he may have been considered a person in the community due to his identity and therefore excused to make any joke of any caliber').

This leads me to the fact that all of this begs the question of why anyone currently thinks it's okay to demand private information about someone's sexuality - even if that person is a celebrity. Requiring proof of queerness for acceptance in the community is equivalent to a forced outing of someone who may not be ready to be out. It's also denying entry to those here who may not identify with a certain label, or those who may have identified as straight and are currently questioning that label on whatever basis. This space is about inclusion, not exclusion. A person cannot understand someone else's journey while viewing it solely through the lens of their own, and that's why I firmly believe that there should be a place at the table for anyone seeking it. In more specific comment, treating 'straightness' as something other than a place on what is a very fluid spectrum of sexuality and personal identity, is once again aligning with the structural rigidity of heteronormativity and the patriarchal desire to put people in categories so they can then simply be brushed aside for the advancement of a small elite group. These norms and standards are DESIGNED to produce this exact kind of infighting. Accepting all under the umbrella of community, banding together as a collective to fight the actual evil instead of fighting each other? This is how we resist.

Please note you haven't asked me my own identification or label, and I haven't provided one. Does this make my words less valid? Should I have to preliminarily justify my own reasons for being able to share this opinion with you? Do I belong here? See how muddy the waters get?

I do believe valid criticism of a celebrity's comments and actions is appropriate; and Misha has invited this over and over - he is a person who wants to learn and be educated, and this is part of the reason the apology was made in the first place. But dragging someone through the mud and making memes about what was a sincere and earnest statement is not education.

I won't speak about Jensen because he is not at the center of the current topic of discourse, but my thoughts about him are similar in that he has shown himself to be an advocate and supporter, and has learned and grown from prior statements he has made because he has listened and educated himself.

In respect to Jared, I've thought a lot about the things I myself have said about him in the past on this site, and I regret them. They were mean-spirited, and despite my feelings at the time - that is still not okay. He's also a person. He's learning. We should show all humans a modicum of grace (again - by vocally speaking out if words are harmful, but also by educating and recognizing if change has been made - which, I believe, it has.). For example - I have seen people on here excuse others' hurtful words and conduct because they are in pain and struggling. Should that not apply to all people?

Of course, while I think that feeling hurt and pain as a reaction to someone's words is absolutely valid and necessary - holding ON to that pain, carrying it with you for a long period of time, turns it into something separate and apart from the person and the words that creates more lasting harm. I am sorry for those who are still hurting. I am hurting too, but it's honestly more over the statements that were made by fandom itself and not what Misha said - which may be why my words come across as 'defending Misha at the expense of fandom' - because what I saw that touched my hurting spaces came from FANS, and not from him. I am doing my best to give those people grace as well, to understand that this is coming from personal places of trauma. And that's exactly why finger pointing and blaming each other won't get any of us through this quickly or easily.

Either way, I'm working towards processing it all and moving forwards, and I truly hope everyone else is doing the same. We are here to find joy and escape. I don't want that part of fandom to go away.

3) mentioned how impressed they were with Jimin's vocals in With You (even though it wasn't a Hybe production) and

4) actually showed up when Jimin invited them to listen to his solo songs.

I think the company doesn't manage Jimin very well and his members sometimes take him for granted or treat him as an afterthought, as they've gotten used to his kind, considerate nature over the years.

But I also believe that there's probably a lot more politics in play than they can ever publicly acknowledge. When I worked at an entertainment company in LA 15 years ago, there were TONS of rules about what you could and couldn't bring up to fans or the media, even on a private account. Acknowledging a scandal creates more press. Acknowledging another entertainment company creates competition. Acknowledging serious illnesses creates insecure stockholders.

And Jimin himself has been radio silent about his OST and the mail thing, only mentioning his health status to reassure us once he was out of danger. The members could have been taking a cue from him and just leaving his name out of the mix for a while. (Well, Tae DID sing With You in his V live before Festa dinner--which is not the same as saying "Great job on a fantastic song, Jimin!" but it was better than the nothing from all the other members--he clearly knew all the words.).

To be honest, I worry a lot darker things have been going on behind the scenes. Security has been lax. Mail tampering and leaked personal info. There's chatter on K army message boards of a potential blackmail issue. There are times in videos released this spring when Jimin looks so quiet and depressed. I bet we will never know how much he's actually been through. He straight up told us there were things he couldn’t say and that was hard and sad.

But he also asked us to please take what he can tell us at face-value and believe in his words. And he's mentioned that the members are more than just friends and family but people he can come back to over and over to help him remember to be his authentic self. Considering that, I'd like to think Jimin has a lot of private support from them, even if they don't support him much publicly.

But yeah, dropping a line anywhere or making an off-handed comment about how great With You is would have been, to me, a very easy way to support Jimin that any of them could have done. They didn't.

A week before the OST dropped, Sungwoon intimated they had behind-the-scenes content and lots of things to share about the collab... and then it went dead quiet. So the real question to me isn't why didn't BTS members talk about With You. The real question is--why didn't Jimin and Sungwoon?

“Is he insane?” Jiang Cheng asked his second in command, who only shrugged helplessly. “Putting aside the fact that I’m certain that he loves her madly, putting everything else aside, Sect Leader Qin is influential and powerful, and a strong supporter of his father – no matter what happened between them, surely someone as pleasant and compromising as Jin Guangyao could find a way to work it out?”

Jiang Cheng had only met Qin Su a few times, always at Jin Guangyao’s side. He’d heard about how she’d fallen for the dashing young man that turned out to be Jin Guangyao and sworn to marry him, no matter the obstacles; he’d heard how they’d managed to overcome every storm, fight the wind and rain, and eventually made it to their marriage bed.

They’d even had a son together, little Jin Rusong; he was Jin Ling’s best playmate.

And Jin Guangyao was kicking him out? Kicking her out?

Absurd!

Who did he think he was?

And yet, contrary to Jiang Cheng’s expectations, Sect Leader Qin did not immediately explode, or, rather, within a few days, he did, but not in the way anyone had expected. Everyone had joked that he would find Jin Guangyao and strangle him, and he really did physically attack someone – but not Jin Guangyao.

He attacked Jin Guangshan instead.

It was as if he’d gone mad, red-eyed like Nie Mingjue in the throes of his qi deviation; he’d charged at Jin Guangshan, his old friend of thirty years or more, right in the middle of Jinlin Tower, and swiped at him viciously with his sword, cutting a gash in his chest as the surprised Jin sect leader darted back too slowly to wholly dodge.

What could be done? The Lanling Jin sect guards could not stand silently by with such provocation – they counter-attacked at once, and Sect Leader Qin did not survive. A little later, and it was discovered that he had never intended on it: his sword was laced with poison.

Sect Leader Qin died, but he took Jin Guangshan down with him the underworld.

The rumor mill exploded.

Everyone was talking about Sect Leader Qin’s motivations – the suspicious timing of the divorce – Jin Guangyao’s now inevitable ascension to the seat of Sect Leader Jin –

Only Jiang Cheng thought about Qin Su, who should have been ascending right beside him. It had been her father that had died, after all.

Laoling Qin was far enough away from Lanling Jin that they were still mostly independent, and they were close enough to the Qinghe Nie that Jiang Cheng could pretend that he’d only made a short detour on a visit directed towards Nie Huaisang, that notorious purveyor of gossip; luckily enough, Nie Huaisang remembered their old friendship and was more than happy to help cover his tracks.

When Jiang Cheng arrived, the house was already decked out in mourning. Qin Su greeted him, eyes red and swollen from tears.

“I’m sorry,” Jiang Cheng said awkwardly, then flinched when he realized he probably should have said something in greeting first – they really didn’t know each other well enough to skip over all that.

Nevertheless, Qin Su nodded, forgiving him the slip-up before he could even retract it. She was gracious and gentle, kind and quiet, economical and thoughtful – a consummate hostess. The wife of Jin Guangyao could not afford to be anything less.

Former wife.

Jiang Cheng’s gaze danced around the room, searching for something to say, and then abruptly he noticed – “There are two deaths in your household?”

“My mother took her own life,” Qin Su said, her voice dull. She tried to suppress it, but tears gathered in her eyes again. “Shortly before…”

Whatever it was that Jin Guangshan had done that had driven Sect Leader Qin mad, it had involved his wife, Jiang Cheng thought, and then abruptly he turned pale as he put two and two together. He’d never doubted that Jin Guangyao had adored Qin Su, so why would he divorce her?

Unless…

Jin Guangshan had a reputation.

Qin Su laughed a little, a bitter sound. “Everyone will know, soon enough,” she said wisely, seeing that Jiang Cheng had figured it out. “I don’t blame my former husband at all; he acted as he ought to in every respect. It’s only my poor A-Song…I can’t imagine what his life will be like from now on.”

Jiang Cheng looked helplessly at her. To lose not only your parents, one right after the other, but your husband, your reputation, and next even your son…

“Marry me,” he said suddenly, and Qin Su stared at him. “If Sect Leader Jin’s assault were recent rather than ancient, it would have provoked the same result. The only reason anyone might suspect the truth is because of the timing of your divorce – if there’s a reason given for that, people won’t think twice about it.”

His words had come out all in a rush, smashing together like stones tossed around by a waterfall; he hadn’t thought of the idea until right this moment.

“Are you suggesting I admit to adultery?” she asked. Her eyes were as round as the full moon.

Jiang Cheng shrugged, a little helpless. “Your reputation is gone,” he pointed out, wishing he knew how to be kind or tactful. “Adultery or incest – it’s the same either way for you. But for A-Song…”

To be the son of an adulterous woman was disgraceful, but such things happened and people generally looked the other way, as long as the real father was powerful enough.

It was better than being a child of incest.

“But what of your reputation?” she asked. “Sect Leader Jiang, you can’t. I won’t let you injure yourself for my sake.”

“Not for you,” he said, though maybe it was, just a little bit. The loss of your parents, the loss of your whole life, everything you’d ever believed – who could understand that better than him? “For A-Song. He’s Jin Ling’s best friend.”

Qin Su had always been kind to Jin Ling, he thought. She didn’t need to be, could just tolerate him the way most people in Jinlin Tower did, but she really seemed to like him…

It occurred to him suddenly that Qin Su met all of his requirements for a bride: a beauty from a good family, obedient, economical, with a mild personality who wasn’t too loud and wasn’t too talkative, who was good to Jin Ling…

“How’s your cultivation?” he asked abruptly. “Do you know how to cook?”

“Mediocre,” she said, blinking at him. “And I’m better at baking, I think. I like making sweets.”

“Good,” Jiang Cheng said, relieved. “That’s – good. I’m glad. Will you marry me?”

Qin Su bit her lip. “Let me think about it?”

Thoughtful, he added to the list. Cautious, not reckless.

“Take all the time you need,” he said.

She came back to him two shichen later. “What happens to A-Song?” she asked.

“I’ll adopt him as my own,” Jiang Cheng said. “Or he can keep the surname Jin, if you prefer. And if Lianfeng-zun agrees, which I think he will – it’s his birthright, after all.” Too many times over. “Jin Ling lives with me sometimes; they can grow up as cousins, the way they should.”

Qin Su nodded, lips trembling a little. “You won’t regret this?”

“I might,” Jiang Cheng admitted. “But I’m probably not going to marry anyone else, and I’m willing. Are you?”

“I am,” she said, and smiled at him. Her eyes were still red, and the smile shaky, but it was something. “Thank you. I…no, never mind.”

“If we’re going to be married, you’re going to need to learn to ask things of me,” he reminded her.

Qin Su wiped her eyes. “Yes, but there’s asking reasonable things, and then there’s asking to alert my former husband before we announce our engagement.”

“Oh, no, that’s a great idea,” Jiang Cheng said, immediately relieved. “If there’s one thing Lianfeng-zun knows, it’s how to manage an announcement of that sort of magnitude. We should definitely tell him.”

Qin Su’s smile this time was stronger.

Nie Huaisang pulled a few strings and got Jin Guangyao to come over to the Unclean Realm, and when he walked in and saw Qin Su, he flinched. Jiang Cheng could see on his face that he still loved her, and he felt bad for him – not enough to stop, but still.

“I see,” Jin Guangyao said, hearing the plan. His expression was surprisingly neutral – thoughtful, but not as upset as Jiang Cheng would have expected. “It’s not a bad idea. And you don’t even need to admit to adultery, either.”

“We don’t?” Jiang Cheng asked, surprised.

“We can say that my marriage with A-Su broke down after my father’s actions - painting them as recent, rather than ancient,” Jin Guangyao explained. “I didn’t feel I could oppose him, she had no choice but to do so – it was an irrevocable breach. You came to comfort her, having met her during your visits with Jin Ling, and her sect is in need of support…you can say it developed naturally from there. It might not work to quell the rumors, of course, but it would at least provide a way to save face in public…Leave it to me.”

“Thank you, A-Yao,” Qin Su said quietly, and he smiled at her, pained.

“Just be happy,” he said to her, then looked at Jiang Cheng. “Treat her well.”

“I will,” Jiang Cheng promised, and took her by the hand. “I swear.”

It was a few years later. Nie Huaisang sat beside Jiang Cheng.

“I think he killed my brother,” he said, playing with his fan. “I’m going to destroy him.”

Jiang Cheng stared at the newest memorial tablet in the Lotus Pier, his hands clenched into fists with knuckles turned white.

“Good,” he said, voice savage. “I’ll help.”

Most would jump off a cliff before they even thought about talking back to the Captain Levi. Then there was you, the girl who sure had a mouth on them. Then your Captain has you shoveling horse shit several times a week, and for what exactly? You had no clue. There was no way this was benefitting to your skills at all, it’s not like you had to clean titan shit.

The worst part was that Levi would only make you clean it all by yourself. The rest of your squad got the  luxury of sweeping, dusting, or mopping. Then there was you trying not to throw up every five minutes while the smell of shit and piss is filling your head. It was hell and you about had enough. You’d kept your mouth shut at that point telling yourself over and over to be the bigger person. You had reached a breaking point when a horse nearly kicked you in the face, you had to get off of Levi’s squad.

That day you stomped to Commander Erwins office full set of getting assigned to a new squad. Erwin had a weird soft spot for you, mainly because he knows your tragic past. He tried his best not to let it show, favoritism wasn’t something he liked to reveal. Harsh knocks echo through the mans office and he flinched, “You may come in.” There you are bursting through the door out of breath and cheeks flaming red.

The sight was somewhat scary, but only because you looked like you were about to rip someone’s head off. The first thing you saw, that only added to the anger, was Captain Levi himself sitting across from Erwin. Why the hell does he have to be here? You thought as your hands balled into firsts.

Everyone knew you had a temper problem. That was another reason Erwin saw you fit for Levi’s squad. Levi didn’t like people who couldn’t control themselves, so he wanted to put you in your place. So far all he’s done is increase your irritability and make you want to punch him in the face. “I want to be on another squad, I can’t take anymore of Captain Levi,” you stare ahead at Erwin, not even acknowledging Levi. The raven-haired man look at you with narrowed eyes and a scowl, someone really needed to put you in your place.

“Coming into my quarters without stating your name or business will get you nowhere, neither will that tone,” Erwin said, he couldn’t believe the way you were acting. You huffed at his words, patience wearing thin. “To hell with my tone!” Levi and Erwin’s eyes widen and their mouths fall open.

Not once has a cadet talked or acted in this manner of disrespect, you had some nerve. Levi was infront of you in almost an instant, backing you up against the door as his breath fanned over your face. “You need to learn how to respect your Captain and your Commander, or i’ll have you sent to the military police. Stop acting as if you’re entitled to be treated like a princess when all you are is a brat,” he spits in your face.

It took everything in you to not knee the man in his groin. You look away from him to Erwin, seeing his armed crosses at his chest. All of you knew your actions just now we’re not justified and you shouldn’t be talking to your superiors that way. But what Levi was doing right now was completely degrading. The Commander wasn’t big on Levi’s approach, but he let him follow through. He was your Captain after all, he treated you how he saw fit. You grabbed the knob that was pushing into your back and opened the door, causing Levi to stumble back a bit. “I hate men,” you mumbled before slamming the door.

A few cadets stood outside the room with wide eyes and jaws ajar. They had heard the whole thing, some wondered how you were still alive. “What the fuck do you want?” You yelled with gritted teeth. They didn’t say a word, only scattered away. If you could talk to the superiors like that and not get your ass kicked there was no telling what you were capable of deep down.

Levi and the Erwin looked at one another with shocked expressions. “She needs to be put in her place,” Levi grunts. No cadet had pushed his buttons like you have. Erwin held the bridge of his nose with his thumb and pointer finger, eyes pressed shut. “She’s a lot like the way you used to be, you know. You gave me a hard time, I guess she’s your karma,” Erwin said somewhat amused. Levi didn’t find anything funny, not even in the slightest.

It had been a few weeks since the incident and Levi hadn’t let you catch a break. If anything things got worse, and you were doing more shit back to back. He went as far as to make you do dishes at breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a straight two weeks. Your attitude had gotten worse as well and insulting the Captain to his face had become a regular occurrence. “(y/n), I want you to clean the stables and then strip all the cadets beds. The sheets need cleaning,” he said to you with a smirk on his face. Your squad stood in a side by side line as he gave you each a chore. Everyone’s was simple and would only take maybe an hour, but yours would cost the rest of the day. “You’re such a prick,” you said with an enraged tone.

Some of your squad gasps while the others had already grown used to it. Levi wasn’t going to stop until you did, it was stubbornness against stubbornness. Even if you did insult him and yell profanities in his face you’d still do as he said. He got such joy out of ordering you around. “And you’re such a brat,” he said back with an amused smile. Before you could think your hand was starting to swing through the air, your squads face watched in horror. He grabbed your wrist right before it made contact with his face, his eyes never left yours. That was kind of hot, you thought and automatically wanted to slap yourself.

His hand remained on your wrist and his grip tightened, causing you to whimper in pain. “Go to what i’ve asked of you cadets,” he says with that same shit eating grin on his face. They all run away with startled expressions. “Let me go,” you tried to rip away your hand but it was no use. “After you’re done with your tasks come to my quarters, no matter how late it is. Also take a shower before you get anywhere near me, you smell like shit.” You scoffed at his words, “Eat fucking shit, Levi.” Calling him by his name really pissed him off, you hadn’t call him Captain since the Erwin office visit. He let go of your wrist finally and walked off, leaving you vision blurred with anger.

Your fellow cadets didn’t say a word as your sweaty form stripped their beds. The smell coming off of you was gag worthy, but they didn’t dare provoke you. If you could talk to Levi in that manner there was no telling what you’d do to them.

One wrong look and you’d knock their teeth out, no questions asked. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t half-ass clean those stables. But the afternoon was coming in and you still had to clean and hang everyone’s sheets. That would take longer than anything, and you’d probably miss out on lunch and dinner. You sat out in the sun pushing one smelly sheet into the bucket of soap and water after another. The boys bed linen almost made you throw up a few times. Did they ever bath?

After soaking them they were hung up to dry, and with the beaming sun hopefully it wouldn’t take too long. You thought about the whole reason you’d basically became a maid, Captain Levi. The man had his mind set on making your life a living hell, and you returned the favor. The threat to send you back to the military police didn’t scare you one bit, it wasn’t going to happen. You were more skilled at killing titans than anyone else on your squad, and almost all the others. Loosing you would be a great loss for the scouts, and you knew it. Some thought, if it came down to it, you could totally kick Levi’s ass. He had heard that one day and it only exasperated the man further. As the sheets dried you were able to attend lunch, but just barely. Most had already finished and were doing combat training. You managed to stuff down a few pieces of bread to keep you moving for the rest of the day. When you returned back to you duties over half of them had dried and you jumped up and down with joy.

You celebrated too fast, and Levi was coming towards you quickly. The rest of the sheets dried and you returned them to each bed. You had never felt like such a maid before, having to make beds for grown adults. He didn’t expect you to state your name or salute him, so he wasn’t too fazed. You sit down in the wooden chair on the other side of his desk, eyes laced with annoyance. “Do you know why you’re here (y/n)?” He questioned, his fingers interlocked as they sat upon his desk. The man was trying to be all serious but you weren’t in anyway intimidated. “Nope, but i’d appreciate it if you’d hurry up. He stands up from his seat, moving to your side of the desk and sitting on the edge of it.

How does She interact with other Scrybes? (Including fan scrybes)

Ooh, I was actually in the middle of writing Zhen's interactions with other characters. Nice timing, I'mma put this here now.

Leshy || Scrybe of Beasts

Eghhh

They don't really like each other. Not hate but like, they'd rather not be in the same room probably.

Leshy gets annoyed more often than not, whether it's because Zhen tries to eat his beasts or constantly messes around simply to pester him, the Scrybe of Beasts wishes they never met.

Zhen's pretty bitter about being turned into a card, but eventually got over it.

Since their cards are so similar, they have a little rivalry thing.

Every now and then they'll have a simple card game, whoever wins gets bragging rights for like, a week.

At the start they tried to kill each other, but once they figured out that it wasn't working they decided they'd actually play normally next game.

Sometimes they can get along, though that's pretty uncommon.

Grimora || Scrybe of the Dead

Possibly the closest Scrybe to Zhen.

Grimora’s just a nice old goth lady, she has Zhen’s respect.

The Scrybe of Death’s kind-ish personality and quirkiness really just endeared to them.

Zhen most likely visits her at her place sometimes.

I like to think that they sometimes sit and have tea together or something but it really depends on their vibes that day.

Grimora probably sees Zhen as this skrunkly little Scrybe, especially how Zhen looks and acts relatively young.

They kinda disagree on their motives as Scrybes, with Grimora wanting peace/total control and not being into the way Zhen treats their subjects (once even comparing them to Magnificus), and Zhen not taking kindly to the “world peace” that Grimora refers to.

They just pretend they do not see.

Or hear, or know.

You get the gist.

Either way, they may be pretty close, but they still definitely have problems with each other.

P03 || Scrybe of Technology

Frenemies?

It’s similar to Zhen and Leshy’s relationship but Zhen doesn’t dislike the robot.

"Oh so feeding doesn’t work.”

“Are you seriously this dumb? My cards are made of metal, you can’t eat them. Honestly, I can’t believe you call yourself a Scrybe.”

P03′s definitely annoyed by her, but when he isn’t it’s because it’s annoying Zhen.

“Oh look, it’s the so-called Scrybe that’s desperate for friends. How are your filthy beasts treating you?”

P03′s one of the only characters that can actually make them upset.

When these two aren’t taking the piss out of each other, they’ll probably band together to annoy the others Scrybes. (Except Grimora)

So yeah, they’re kinda like frenemies!

Magnificus || Scrybe of Magicks

No.

Mags and Zhen do not like each other.

The wizard(?) thinks that Zhen is a freak, some sort of manic hazard that xe’d rather not have around xem and xir students.

Zhen thinks very lowly of the Scrybe of Magicks. (Even scowling for a bit if she were to be dueled by the challenger with a card from xir deck)

They both believe that the other treats their subjects terribly.

Magnificus abuses xir students, though thinks that it’s needed to better them. (Hence them being called tests and makes it seem like xir actions are justified)

Zhen tends to “rule with an iron fist”, if you will. Considering how they call her “followers” as their lackeys and more often than not threaten them if they don’t do something right, it’s not that hard to see why you’d think they’re being abused or the like.

The only difference there may be between the two of them is that Magnificus’ students actually don’t want to be treated the way they are being treated anymore, whilst Zhen’s lackeys don’t really give a damn.

These two will probably never willingly get along, rip.

Here come the fan scrybes! I don’t really know a lot about them so these will be pretty general and mostly from Zhen’s perspective hh

They’re both really lonely, so they’d probably get along. Maybe even become friends.

Zhen most likely has the same amount of respect for Dreena as she does with Grimora.

There’s probably going to be some conflict when death is mentioned.

Dreena would prefer to hurt no one (at least as far as I can tell from what’s happened in their blog) whilst Zhen constantly hurts lots of things.

You know what, maybe they won’t be friends. Whoops.

Boatman || Scrybe of Metamorphosis(?) || By @pineapplesquash 

Lovely boat person, seems to be talkative, Zhen would enjoy their company.

Zhen probably doesn’t think much about them, rip.

Just sees them as “that one nice boat guy”

Sadly she doesn’t exactly goes far or across bodies of water much, so they won’t exactly meet unless they find coincidentally find each other.

Always willing to chat if they do meet though, so there’s that.

They look so fun though, possible friend material

Zhen can only dream, shethinks.

He seems to be very interesting, but I don’t think Zhen would actually interact with him on their own accord. (That’s for a pretty valid reason)

Zhen finds Belwyn kinda cute, and has slight interest in his cards.

But tbh they might’ve had an urge to do something not nice

He’d be the perfect prey

But no, Zhen wouldn’t do that. Or at least they’d tell themself that.

Honestly I highly doubt that they’d meet on their own. 

Maybe they’ll spot each at P03′s factory.

Zhen probably can’t swim, or at least is super bad at it, so they’ve never been under the water.

Because of that they might be curious about Minke and the creatures under their domain.

Asides from that, they proably wouldn’t interact much sksk

I saw your post about Frontier fans being the friendliest of the lot, and as a Frontier fan who only started interacting with other people in the Digimon fandom very recently, I have to ask: why are Frontier fans unanimously considered the most approachable?

If you've only come in very recently, I don't know whether to congratulate and welcome you, envy you, or pat you on the back and go "welcome to this hell" ^^...

I'd like to believe it's been improving in recent years, maybe because we're all becoming proper adults now instead of a bunch of bickering teenagers, but the Digimon fanbase has historically had a ton of infighting, especially the obsession with acting like you can somehow rank every series by objective quality (which is something that unfortunately a lot of fanbases tend to do whenever there's a lot of parts to it, but my experience involves the fanbase constantly doing a ton of my-favorite-series-is-better-than-yours even in situations when literally nobody asked). And I do think that a lot of people's behavior depending on their favorite kind of tends to be heavily dependent on a combination of how the fandom has historically treated them or their favorite series and the nature of said series itself, so for instance a lot of the time fans of series the fanbase considers "good" often get a nasty power trip and start condescendingly dunking on everything else to talk about how objectively good their favorite is (again, even when nobody asked), but then the ones into less popular things sometimes seem to have a nasty victim complex about it and start dunking on the popular things...et cetera.

Obviously this isn't true for the entirety of their respective fanbases (and I'm sure the Frontier side of the fanbase probably has some rude people in it, we're humans after all and nobody's perfect), but everyone commented on Frontier fans being generally very chill and that if you meet someone who introduces themself as a Frontier fan, you usually don't have to worry too much about whether the other person's going to bite your head off. Also, nobody had any horror stories about any Frontier fans invading their space and leaving condescending remarks, which I could tell about almost every other Digimon series. (I do feel like I haven't had any nasty run-ins with Savers fans either, but I also haven't met as many hardcore Savers fans -- not to say a lot of people don't generally like Savers, but I've met surprisingly few people who will put Savers as their #1 favorite, so I think Frontier's fanbase left a stronger impression because of how consistent this sentiment felt across a pretty considerable amount of encounters.)

Of course, the above is just me writing my impressions and observations as one person who talks to a handful of other people, so who knows what things are in the wider scope, but I thought it was interesting how said whole handful also universally seemed to have the same good experience with Frontier fans, so I thought that was interesting? ^^
