TO CATCH THE SEA needs Beta readers!
To Catch the Sea is a 121k-word YA queer romantic fantasy novel. It is intended to be a standalone novel with series potential, and follows a sole POV of the protagonist, Adam Fletcher.
Serving the Dragon King as one of his own is the highest honour. Adam always knew he would become a soldier before he ever had the choice, that his destiny lay on the isle of Duvréa. He always knew dragons' magic was of fire, and of sun. Chimeras' magic was of storms, and of poison. Not to be trusted. Unfortunately, the chimera who plays the piano at every banquet and walks the beach at twilight is the only one who’s ever made him feel. And when a new recruit drowns under Adam's watch, suddenly, he has more important things to worry about than wooing a boy who doesn't know his name.
Hello hello! I’m looking for beta readers for To Catch the Sea! I’m looking for general feedback on plot/characters/setting, very story-based more than prose/style based!
This beta will run from ~approx May 25th to July 31st (UPDATED), but there is wiggle room! I have details about this on the form, so if the timeline is a limit for you but you’d still like to take part, please let me know. I’m running on no deadlines here but my own, so I’m flexible!
I am offering beta reading in exchange! Any WIP up to 120k words is fine, so if you’re looking for beta readers in the future, let me know!
Important links:
The Beta reader application form! (open until May 24th)
See the intro post/masterpost for more information on this WIP
Check out Chapter 1 for a preview!
Please boost if you can, I appreciate it! 💚

Gideon the Ninth
by Tamsyn Muir
Storygrah // Bookshop.org
The Emperor needs necromancers. The Ninth Necromancer needs a swordswoman. Gideon has a sword, some dirty magazines, and no more time for undead nonsense. Tamsyn Muir's Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap off the page, as skillfully animated as arcane revenants. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy.
lgbt++library summary:
Often described as 'lesbian necromancers in space', the first entry in the Locked Tomb series is a lot of things - locked room murder mystery, exploration of childhood trauma, irreverent and deeply moving. The cast of characters and the history of their world are sketched with a light hand in a story full of twists that take your breath away. Read Gideon the Ninth if you like stories about messed up people doing messed up things to each other and want a book that takes you on a truly unexpected journey.

Maikl's Confession
Commission I did for Faron
Tumblr media
A young Man with caramel colored skin stood behind a tree, taking peeks every so often at a pretty blonde woman with a shaved Mohawk on the side as she walked down the ever-busy Market Street, a basket swinging on their arm and humming a pleasant tune. The blonde was clearly oblivious to the attention being directed at them not only by the one hiding behind the tree but from the crowd around them because of their…. company.
The blonde had not only an alligator walking next to them, but a tiger on the right and a colorful parrot on their shoulder and a mantis whose chitinous body glistened with reds and pastels as it hung upon the person’s arm.
"Ok guys, stay close we're only here to get ingredients for dinner" they said, looking down at their companions, already noticing they were trying to stray away, their attention disbanded as they began to walk past the bewildered and frightened crowd, clients pulling into the corners and aisles, mothers shielding their kids away from touching the beasts as they made their way, noses and eyes peeled, searching for their next meal.
“Lily!" the blonde shouted, running as fast as they could, their hand extending to grab the tiger by the scruff of her neck as their pet approached the butchery, the large, golden eyes studying a particularly bloodied cut of meat displayed behind the grease covered display, ”No, Lily, no” they said firmly, the tiger sitting over the shinning floor and looking up to the her owner, her eyes opening widely and letting out a whimper before licking their lips, rustling the short and almost invisible whispers and raising their paw
“Fine…”, the woman said with a sigh and a shake of their head, ”I'll give you some jerky later, ok?" which made the tiger purr and rub against their pants leg.
" Jerky!" The parrot suddenly blurted out as they flapped their wings.
Behind the tree, the brunette man started to sweat a little bit as he fumbled with his fingers in a nervous manner, ”Ok, Maikl," he said in a discreet voice, barely above a whisper, “You can do This you can do this…." The man reappeared, taking deep breaths and trying to convince himself.
The blonde was now by a fruit stand looking over all what it had to offer, ”Good morning, Adam" an older woman with greying hair said cheerfully as she brought out a batch of strawberries.
“Morning Rachel" Adam said with a warm smile before placing a dragon fruit into their cart, ” how's business going today?”.
“Oh, you know…at it’s own phace" the woman replied.
As the two were talking, Adam's alligator sniffed the air, a familiar scent reaching its nose, it’s jaws opening for a moment, the reptile turned back, following the smell towards the tree where Maikl was hiding behind.
" All right, I'll do it" the brunette said with conviction, ready to get away from the tree only for him to hide behind the tree once again in panic once he did "Nononono! Nope! I can't do it" he said, hiding his face in his hand with his back against the tree before letting out a sigh"Adam never will agree to go out with me…" he said a bit depressingly, slumping down to the ground, his head burying into his hands.
A snarling, profound sound wrenched him from his thoughts, the man rising up his head in a sudden and startled move, slowly turning his head as the puffing, snarling and profound sound seemed to approach, his eyes almost popping out of their sockets as the alligator came up to him growling softly, “Algora! Shhh!”, He whispered in a panic, trying to hush her while looking back and forth cautiously, “Go, go back to Adam! ‘’.
Adam was looking over the strawberries, examining each piece of fruit, fingers prickling at the soft pulp and red flesh of the fruit, deciding which to takes which to leave when the scream of a woman wrenched here from their search
"Ahhhh! There's a bug on the Mangos”, the tender screeched, Adam blinked confusingly and looked down at the colorful to see their Mantis munching on a ripped open fruit, pieces of yellow falling down the side of its face from the mandibles, head tilting slight as it looked up confused at Adam
“Emperor, sweetie, you need to stay with me, most people are scared of you" they coed to the insect bringing out their hand to let the mantis climb up still holding a tiny piece of mango in it claws, ”I am so sorry, Rachel, I'll pay for the Mango” they said sheepish grin.
The elderly woman just laughed, ”Oh it's fine, I’m glad my fruit is tasty enough for your little animal friends," she said, giving him the eaten mango “Say…didn't you have an alligator with you?" Rachel pointed out, arching a withered and almost bald eyebrow.
Adam blinked and noticed that their alligator was missing "Algora? Algora?!" The blonde raised their voice slightly, getting worried.
“Algora! Stop it! " A voice picked up from behind a tree making most of the people in the market turn their attention towards it, the Crocodile was dragging someone out by their pant leg as they waddled backwards revealing a hopping Maikl struggling to get free 'Algora, stop it!" He told the alligator again.
" Maikl? " Adam blinked, confused.
Hearing his voice made the brunette freeze “Oh, Adam…," the man acknowledged, freezing in place and bringing his hands to his face “Hi…” He waved sheepishly with Algora still biting his pants.
" Algora, bad girl, come here!” Adam scolded the alligator, gesturing for her to come over to them, which the reptile did without question, letting out a growl of affection ”I'm sorry, Maikl, I guess she wanted your attention" the blonde apologized.
The tanned skin man just rubbed the back of his head laughing nervously "it's ok," he was getting self conscious with everyone's eyes on him now "why were you hiding behind that tree anyway?" Adam asked.
" Well,…. I.. you see…. I" Maikl couldn't help but stutter staring into Adam's beautiful brown eyes" I…. I…. I...need to go home!" He said in a quick squeak before running off in the opposite direction confusing most there" That was so…. strange" Adam said blinking looking around" do you think there was a horse nearby?" They asked.
---------
It wasn't long before nightfall came upon the small village in the woods, everyone seemed to be ready to go home and relax after a long day of work…. Maikl more than anyone seemed to be the most exhausted not from his job though….but from the emotional wreckage he went through today.
He sighed deeply as he walked around aimlessly...that what he Been doing the whole time since he ran off from Adam... walking...he couldn't bring himself to go home he was worried his mother might find out from Adam or someone else how big of a fool he made out himself today "So stupid! Stupid! Stupid" he said stomping his foot against the dirt in frustration before letting out deep sigh “There's no way Adam will go out with me now" He said in a defeated and sad tone..
" Why wouldn't I?" A voice said popped up from behind him making him spin around to see Adam without any of their pets this Time" A-A-a-dam!" He yelped standing up straight before turning bright red.
" How much did you hear?" He mumbled a bit trying to avoid eye contact.
Adam smiled at him warmly" I heard enough, why did you run off if you wanted to ask me out?” they chuckled slightly.
Maikl turned red as a tomato at the this "Well….I...I didn't...think you would say-
He got cut off by a kiss from Adam making him gasp, he was too bewildered to even react. Adam then pulled away smiling at him as they stroked his face “You're such a dummy sometimes you know that?" they asked moving some of Maikl brown locks out his face, ”But it makes you so cute"
Maikl face was still red, “You…you…think I'm cute?" He said completely taken back by this.
Adam laughed again hooking their arm into his" come on let's take you home before your mom starts to worry"

I dont know if this is weird butttt I dont think Bts members dont have huge dicks as we image them to have 😂😂. I know this is all ficton but my mind just wonders. There is this Asians have small dick talk and we see them wear skinny jeans and their dicks are just gone??? How do they do it???
I wanna use this opportunity to first of all say that if I write them saying stuff like "yeah take my huge dick" it's just dirty talk. Most of my men on this blog I imagine to have dicks between 12 and 15cm. Except for the Sanguis boys when they have their vampire dicks out, but that's literally supernatural anyways and not anywhere near reality lmaoao like hello growing dicks, besties this is just fantasy. But even them I imagine to have dicks somewhere between 11 and 15cm if they're just human.
I also wanna say that we won't generalise an entire ethnicity based on stereotypes. Okay? We're so much better than that.
Now that this is out of the way, I would like to give a few explanations as to why dicks dissapear in tight jeans/pants. Dicks are very squishy. I am talking very squishy when soft. You can squish them right against a leg, tummy, between hands and it basically gets all squished up and small (to an extent. It's still very delicate, so don't think you can just squish it like a stressball. Be gentle with it). That's why you can comfortably lie on your tummy or sort of sit on it when you're soft as all of it sort of goes like "squish".
There is also a big majority of dicks which are very small when soft to begin with, so that makes it easier to hide them in tight pants as well.
Now imagine skinny jeans. You're wearing good briefs which keep the jewels where they're supposed to be, already squishing it a little, then skinny jeans appear, you slide your lil friend to one of your legs and the tight material does the rest. Squish, squish. And your dick is gone.
That's why grey sweats are known as slutty pants because there is no squish squish and the dick just seems bigger 'cause it can flop around freely.
So yeah that's why dicks seem to suddenly dissapear in tighter pants and why they seem so much bigger in wider pants.
Example given:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see on the left the squish is happening while on the right he is wearing softer pants which don't squish as hard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The same with Tae. On the left he's all squished in there while on the right he is only wearing flowy shorts and his lil tete can flop around freely.
It's all depending on clothing really.
And to end it all. Size doesn't matter at the end of it. Just because someone has a big dick, doesn't mean he can automatically fuck better than someone with a smaller dick. It's all about the technique and how you use it AND how you listen to your partner AND also how you include other sexy stuff (hands, mouths, toys etc.). So yes. Big Dick does not automatically equal good lover. Technique, respect and communication does.

Intro Post!💀🦇🕸🕯
Hey there! Figured I'd finally make one of these in case anyone who stumbles on this blog wonders what it's all about.
As it says in my blog description, this is an online space where I can compile and organize imagery, info, and anything else that inspires me related to the novel I'm developing. At least that was the original motivation for making this, but I'm definitely wanting to post some original content surrounding the story and the characters in it soon! This imaginary world has been obsessing me for a few years now, and I'm honestly chomping at the bit to share it with others.
What you'll see on here:
Images related to: gothic lit, the regency period in Europe/Britain, the late 16th/early 17th century, some earlier 18th century, ancient and prehistoric cultures, paganism, the occult, witchcraft, fairies, folklore, the countryside/forests, autumn, Halloween, demons/devils, romantic fashion, screenshots and gifs from films, illustrations/other artists' art that inspires me, and any other random pic that speaks to me or that gives me an idea even vaguely related to the story.
Text posts relating to: all the same subjects above, plus quotes from poetry and literature, other stories that inspire me, and writing advice posts/memes.
Hopefully soon: posts introducing my characters and sharing concept art, ideas, research I've done, who knows what else??
***Content warning for some imagery that may be disturbing (as can be expected, I guess, from a horror aesthetic/theme).***
What the novel's about:
It's [going to be] a gothic/dark fantasy/folk horror/historical fiction novel set in regency Britain and centering around the concept of Halloween and its origins/meaning. Think Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell meets Over the Garden Wall. Kinda. Characters include a bratty aspiring sorcerer, a demonic changeling who wants to be human, a witch, a sin eater, and a handsome devil. Over the course of the plot the question of whether the spirit realm(s) and mortal world should be kept separate will be a source of conflict.
I've had some aspects of this story/characters in my head since I was 14, so it's super special to me!
About me:
I'm an artist, writer, and musician. This is my first time trying to write anything as involved as a novel. I'm having loads of fun with it, though. I love music and reading and history, particularly fashion history, and anything related to the supernatural. The title of my blog is a reference to a song by Echo & the Bunnymen (though I think it's actually an inaccurate lyric :P ).
Ficton books I've been reading lately: Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke, The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles books, Edgar Allan Poe short stories
Nonfiction books I've been reading: The Devil and All His Works by Dennis Wheatley, Celtic Mythology by Philip Freeman, The Making of Victorian Values by Ben Wilson, Occult Features of Anarchism by Erica Lagalisse, Halloween by Lesley Pratt Bannatyne
Some musical artists I'm into recently: Cranes, Kate Bush, The The, The Smiths, Fiona Apple, Alex G, Caroline Polachek, Imogen Heap, Depeche Mode, Fad Gadget, Pinback, Steeleye Span, The Cleaners From Venus, Suzanne Vega, The Garden, Jessica Pratt
Visual Artists I've been thinking about lately: Edward Gorey, Aubrey Beardsley, Nicole Rodrigues, Francisco de Goya, Leonora Carrington, Brian Froud, Wendy Froud, Willam Blake, Edvard Munch, Harry Clarke
Some of my favorite films: The Witch, Valerie and Her Week of Wonders, The Wicker Man (original), Meshes of the Afternoon, Days of Heaven, The Thief and the Cobbler, The Masque of the Red Death
Regardless of why you're here, I sincerely hope you enjoy browsing around, and feel free to say hi! :) I would love to link up with other writers on here and make some new pals. Also feel free to like this post and I'll give you a follow!

Transfem authors of fiction: a list
I wrote a version of this list in Swedish for a meatspace friend, figure I might redo it for a tumblr audience. The books recommended are usually novels, and in case of prolific authors, the one recommended is usually the most successful and acclaimed one. I haven't read all of these, but I'm working on it. The list is in alphabetical order after the author's last name. I added some notes to the list, to introduce the authors and their books.
Nota Bene this list is based on my personal research, and largely reflects my own tastes in fiction, as in what I've read and considered reading. And it is of course not at all complete. And it's a transfem authors list, so no transmasc authors no matter how worthy. And it's about authors of fiction, not memoirs or non-fiction. So no Christine Jorgensen, even if she wrote a book I want to read. And Jan Morris gets in based on her two Hav novels, not her more prolific non-fiction work. Links are to my reviews on this blog if they exist.
Anders, Charlie Jane - SF/F writer, debuted with Choir Boy (2005), but most famous for All The Birds in the Sky (which won a Nebula).
Aoki, Ryka - her latest sf/f novel Light from Uncommon Stars is her most popular, but she has published both fiction and poetry before.
Becker, Saga - Våra Tungor Smakar våld (Swedish author, her book is untranslated, although quite good)
Binnie, Imogen - Nevada
Daniels, April - Dreadnought and its sequel Sovereign. Novels about a teenage trans girl superhero.
Deane, Maya - Wrath Goddess Sing
Felker-Martin, Gretchen - Manhunt (horror novel)
Kaveney, Roz - Tiny Pieces of Skull (also wrote the Rhapsody of Blood fantasy series, plus numerous poetry collections and non-fiction)
Kiernan, Caitlin R. - Usually categorized as a horror author, written numerous novels and short stories since her debut novel SIlk in 1998. The most acclaimed are probably her novels The Red Tree and The Drowning Girl (which won the Bram Stoker Award)
Leitz, May - Fluids and Girlflesh (review forthcoming)
Morris, Jan - Hav (mostly wrote non-fiction, history books and travel literature, Hav is an omnibus of her two novels about Hav, both "imagined travelogues" about a fictitious country)
Peters, Torrey - Detransition Baby
Plett, Casey - Little Fish (Lambda award winner)
Pollack, Rachel - Prolific writer of several kinds of books, including a pioneering career as a sf/f writer. Did her fictional debut with a short story in a 1971 anthology (credited under her deadname) and published her first novel Golden Vanity in 1980, which are literally the earliest pieces of fiction by an out trans person (not memoir or non-ficton) I've been able to find. So very much a pioneer. Her most acclaimed book is probably Godmother Night (1996) which won the World Fantasy Award. Also wrote comics, most notably Doom Patrol.
Rumfitt, Alison - Tell me I'm Worthless
Serano, Julia - 99 Erics (her debut as a novelist after years of pioneering transfeminist writing and poetry)
Thornton, Jeanne - Summer Fun (Lambda award winner)

Which magazine would you most like to have a complete, restored set of?
Weird Tales 1922 Frankly, most of the stores were below par, "Beloved Dead" indeed, really only famous because of a few notable exceptions.
Amazing Stories 1926 The first all "sciencetiction" magazine. But truth be told, most of the writing was just bad. (and then there was the "Shraver Mystery!") In 1985, when Spielberg decided he wanted a TV series called Amazing Stories instead of just looking for another name when he found the Mag still had the rights to the title, he brought the whole catalog. He flushed it, calling it garbage so they could do stories about Grandpa's ghost train and cute furry critter from space crying over Ricky and Lucy getting divorced.
Air Wonder Stories 1929 Later Wonder Stories, but started with all the stories having "the wonder of flight" theme. It was a thing for a while back then.
Astounding Stories 1930 Under John Campbell brought about the Golden Age of Science Ficton.
Unknown 1938 - 1943 Campbell does fantasy.
Planet Stories 1939 Its gimmick was that all the stories had to be set on a known planet in our solar system.
Captain Future 1940 Science Fiction pulp hero magazine.
The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction 1949 Last of the original greats.
New Worlds 1964, edited by Michael Moorcock and home of the experimental New Wave movement.

Hello darling 😘
Here to ask you a few questions from the Writer (& Artist) Ask Game: 18, 24, 25 & 26.
Looking forward to reading you ❤️
Ah thank you so much for this lovely ask @cleverblackcat . I actually had to think about some of these, which was the point of the exercise of course! Hoping to see yours soon too! 18: Describe the setting of one or more of your wips Oh gosh.. *eyes twitches as I look at my WIP folder* .. For TWC I'm currently working on chapter 2 for "To break the Unbreakable" The setting for this is Catherine/Kitty struggling with her feelings for Mason when they explictely agreed they would keep it purely casual. Then there's Chapter 7 in Gwen's playthrough write-along (which, tbh, is now already 2 books behind and will probably never end). Currently the setting for this is pretty much still the beginning of Book 1 TWC *laughs somewhat nervously*.. so yeah.. The rest is under the cut ^^
24: Do you have/want a career in your medium? If not, what do you do/want to do instead? Ah, that ship has well and truly sailed. It's definitely a hobby for me, both the writing and my dabbling in digital art on the side. I really want to learn to work with software like CSP and PS, but I don't have the patience and dedication it takes to become an artist. Out of the two, writing has always been my first love, ever since I first started scribbling my little make-believe stories in my notebooks at age 9. 25: What’s your favourite genre to write? Is it also your favourite genre to read?
Fiction, with my favourites being Fantasy in any shape or form, although high-fantasy/medieval fantasy and Urban fantasy are at the top. Gothic/Horror next and SF/Crime after that. Although tbh I enjoy pretty much any well written (fictional) story. Anything that helps me escape reality for a bit. And yes, both for writing and reading.
26: What are your favourite books?
This pretty much changes with the latest book I read, there are so many amazing ficton authors out there. I love epic stories, seeing that there's more than 1 book instantly gives me a sense that a world is worth investing in, that I won't get invested in characters who will just be gone in 400 or so pages. So for that reason:
Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time. The first fandom I ever got heavily involved in and my first foray into fan-fic writing.
The Earthsea trilogy by Ursula le Guin
Black Jewels series by Anne Bishop
Any of Robin Hobb's books
A song of Ice and Fire (GoT) . Read this before it became popular and always loved the characters and the world (George R. Martin)
Kingkiller Chronicles (Patrick Rothfuss)
Malazan Book of the Fallen (Steven Erikson)
Any of Terry Pratchett's books.. I mean.. c'me on.
The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant/Mordant's need by Stephen Donaldson It's honestly painful to pick and choose, I also have great admiration for Brandon Sanderson, Neil Gaiman, Joe Abercrombie, Jack Vance, Stephen King, Tanith Lee ... the list goes on and on. Thank you for letting me think about this, it really was a great exercise. Tagging @cleverblackcat @serenpedac @glitchthemimic and anyone else that would be so kind to indulge me. Would love to see your responses to these! Please tag me!

The Neon Trilogy, In which a boy’s world gets turned upside down when he’s labeled both a savior and a doomsday machine, with no knowledge of which one is true.
Current Stage - Draft 0, Writing as I please Genre - Low Fantasy | Sci-Fi Setting - Fictonal Big City by the Coast (don’t quite know where) Books - Neon Pink | Neon Cadaver | Neon Pheonix
Synopsis - André’s eyes are weird. Everybody knows that. They’ve been changing colors for his entire life, and what started as brown eventually became violet. The doctors have diagnosed it as chroma flux, a rare eye condition wherein the iris changes its color every so often. So when André’s eyes one day become a vibrant pink, it’s not as weird as most would assume.
What is weird is when André’s blood suddenly turns pink too. Even starting to glow.
What follows is a downwar spiral where the world he once thought he knew shatters completely. Alien creatures begin hunting him down, claiming him to be both a savior and a doomsday machine. Which one is the truth ? No one seems to know for sure. Either way, André is forced to adapt all too quickly to ensure the safety of as many people as possible. And with new strange powers and the desperate need to figure out who to trust, André might just break apart.
Main Characters -
André Hernandez, The Neon Phoenix: Extroverted, patient, and helpful, he’s a nice mix of nerd and jock with his knack for programming and parkour. He’s open-minded and while there are some expectations, he’s keen on hearing all the sides before coming to a conclusion. A hopeless romantic with no flirting skills to speak of.
Salena Bashir, The leader: Observant, strategic, and easy-going, she’s a powerhouse when it comes to performances. Quick to take the lead, even quicker to call people out on their bullshit. She’s athletic, star player on the baseball team and artistic, doodling on any surface that comes her way. Not to forget her being squeamish.
Piper Hawkins, The Scientist: Curious, stubborn, and imaginative, they’re the smartest one in the group, also the most chaotic. They’re always interested in learning new things and value science and philosophy greatly. While not argumentative per-se, they do enjoy being challenged. Lives almost purely off of caffeine and sheer will.
Xavier Eltsov, The Mediator: Poetic, attentive, and caring, he’s the voice of reason, as best as he can be, that is, with his tendencies for dumbassery. He’s clumsy and awkward in most social and public situations, but he’s unconditionally kind and is always available is anyone needs to talk. Writes a lot, especially for theaters.
Raj, The Innovator: Gentle, mature, and intelligent, she’s an absolute ray of sunshine for an Apex predator. She’s still cautious about the strange world she’s been sent too, but she’s eager to learn everything about it. Finds immense beauty in the mundane and ordinary.
Epsilon, The Mentor: Protective, apathetic, and clueless, they’re very keen on following their orders, even though they seem to have forgotten them. They’re incredibly strong, and just as soft once that first layer begins breaking down. Asigned as André´s mentor, even though they don’t really know what his purpose is.
Themes - Self-worth | Friendship | Love | Trust | Morality | Humanity | Defying Destiny | Falling In Love With Humanity | Mental health | Chosen one | Found Family
Main Theme - The Phoenix : Fall Out Boy
Warnings - Violence | Death | Minor Body Horror | Manipulation | Kidnapping | Torture | More May Be Added
What I Got To Offer ? Diverse cast (LGBTQ+, ethnicity, etc.), healthy relationships both romantic and platonic, Some cute romances, a mess of a mentor doing their best, that good ol’ Angst and Aliens

Great Circle has a hover-box: "Great Circle is a 2021 novel by Maggie Shipstead, published on May 4, 2021 by Alfred A. Knopf." It's a larger box than necessary, end ID.)
There is a PATTERN have books from 1 year previously. I really like that, since the long list is happening "already" in February, um, well today is the oscars. But then, like, the fun stupid awards are november. what do you think would happen to the goodreads choice award if it let anyone at all make nominations. there's a discord bot that will display the link and summary and cover of a book based on "I'm Feeling Lucky" style searching quearying into the bot.i think that type of AI should sort the nominations and count them.
My thoughts.
*Hehe, no I'm not mad about the "memoir? fiction" aspect I just put it because everyone is saying everyone else is talkign about it.

**Since Song of Achilles is popular, I hate it.
***Piranesi might have the same problems as Achilles. But I liked it. Mainly because I had musical accompaniment and was reading a LP version... so it felt slower due to being like 300 pages (it's somewhat short! People joke because appartently Mr. Strange and Dr. Norell is very long. Well I haven't seen it.)

(ID, 3 bookcovers. A blue silouette of a black girl with long braids in the wind, some hiding her eyes from view, New York Times Bestseller, Nightcrawling, a novel. Oprah's Book Club 2022. By Leila Mottley. With the blurb, "Searing... An intimate portrait of a young Black woman searching for autonomy and fulfillment." from the New York Times. Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell a novel by Susanna Clarke, black with white bird flight silouette. The Final Revival of Opal & Nev, with a blurb "sorry untranscribed I'm tired, a nove"one of the most immersive novels l've ever read," from Ta-Nehisi Coates, by Dawn Walton, a novel, it's red with a black guitar silhouette with an orange cut out of a woman's face, end ID.)
Oh and I didn't. Bother with Great Circle. But it was the only 2022 Women's Prize book I'd, like, well I'd heard of it, and, um. I'd heard of it, and Opal & Nev, which I did pick up, but unlike Great Circle I didn't crack it open at all.
From this year I think I haven't read any of them or cracked them open at all but I've heard a lot about Nightcrawling.

welcome to the mind monstrosity
if you’re here, congratulations, and welcome to the mind monstrosity! :D
hi there! you can call me base. i maladaptive daydream (basically daydreaming on steroids) and i also have a writer brain, leading to the monstrosity known as my inner mind.
there’s a lot of worldbuilding that goes on to explain my escapist power fantasy, way too much to fully fit into one post, so here’s a basic rundown of what goes on here:
someone decided it would be a good idea to give an emotionally unstable thirteen y/o (me, base) fantastic power over the multiverse, and everyone’s kind of been dealing with it ever since. this mentally questionable monarch of the multiverse happened to have a lot of self-insert ocs for fictonal universes. ocs that became a little more sentient than intended because of that aforementioned multiversal power. these ocs were called ‘aspects’ for. no real reason, tbh, just calling them ocs felt like a disservice, and they’re kind representative of different aspects of base’s personality??
so everyone’s kind of been dealing with it. especially the aspects who were given horrifically tragic backstories and angst before base fully realized what they were doing.
at least i’m doing it on purpose now??
other than the whole multiverse thing, this is basically a normal oc gushing blog lol
if you have questions about any of the aspects just ask, and if you want an in-character responses, just address your ask to the aspect, and they’ll respond. if you don’t address it, i’ll just assume it’s for me (base) and answer it myself.
