Jacob Seed x female reader

part 1

warnings: modern AU

summary: Jacob is a retired veteran who reluctantly helps his new neighbor one day. As a way to say thank you, she invites him over for dinner. This leads to Jacob having conflicting feelings especially as their relationship progresses.

When the large work truck pulled into the yard next door, Judge, Meat, and Recruit all perked up, rising from their spots on the sofa and headed towards the door. Even Jacob was curious when he heard the truck door slam, slowly getting up from his chair, he wandered over to the window.

His curtains were drawn. In fact, they had been that way since that night. It was all part of his plan to ignore you. He stayed holed up in his house most of the day, only leaving when he was absolutely positive he wouldn’t run into you. Fortunately, you stuck to your usual schedule, making it easy for him to avoid you.

Though, he didn’t want to linger on the fact that he learned your whole routine in such a short time of you moving in. He also didn’t want to think about how he kept having those dreams about you even though he hadn’t seen you since dinner that night.

With his index finger, he carefully parted the curtains just enough to take a peek. His jaw clenched as he watched the stranger in his gray coveralls and tool belt nonchalantly approach your door.

Jacob huffed and turned away. He didn’t like this at all.

He paced back and forth, frowning while trying to convince himself that he didn’t care and that he didn’t want to be the one helping you. This was a good thing, you should get help from some other man. It was better than bothering him. Plus, this guy wouldn’t care, and you wouldn’t invite him for dinner, he was getting paid to do this after all.

But then he heard you laugh, it was a sweet little giggle that rang in the air lightly catching his attention. Immediately, he found himself at the window again, this time glaring at the exchange between you and the worker.

You swayed slightly side to side with your hands behind your back as you gave the stranger a friendly smile while explaining the issues you were having with the plumbing. The man was grinning like an idiot, in response, his hand rubbing the back of his head like he never spoke to a pretty girl before.

Jacob’s stomach twisted into knots, he hated himself for letting this get to him, he wished he never got involved with you at all, but what he wanted most this very moment was to punch that man’s stupid face.

Without thinking, Jacob marched outside. He had no idea what he was going to do or say, but he couldn’t ignore it and he couldn’t just stand there and watch that fool gush over you.

“Hey,” Jacob said gruffly, but still friendlier than usual, as he walked over to your house.

You blinked in surprise, but immediately smiled at Jacob. It was far better than the smile you gave the plumber. You looked happier, brighter, prettier for him. In fact, your entire face lit up and your eyes sparkled when you saw him.

That alone eased the rage he was feeling moments ago, he could tell you preferred him over this other guy.

Getting a better look at the stranger, Jacob wanted to laugh, he was obviously weak and puny, didn’t look too smart either. On plumber’s gray coveralls was a name patch that read Guy.

Jacob resisted the urge to knock him flat on his ass. Instead, he kept his eye on the prize and turned his attention towards you.

“What’s the problem?” Jacob asked, pushing past Guy as he walked up the porch stairs. He stood right between you and the wimp, making sure all you could see was him.

He could feel Guy staring at his back, probably angry at him for just showing up and interrupting his poor attempt at flirting with you.

“One of the drains is clogged and the water pressure in the shower is horrible,” you explained, looking up at Jacob.

“I see,” Jacob muttered quietly, before leaning in towards you. He was so close that you could feel his breath tickling your cheek as he continued. “Got a minute to talk?” He whispered.

“Sure,” you nodded, curious as to what he wanted to discuss.

In an oddly familiar fashion, Jacob placed his large hand on your lower back and guided you back inside your house. Before going into the house, he shot Guy an ugly look, somewhere between a scowl and a snarl.

“What is it?” You asked, tilting your head.

“I can do it,” Jacob stated plainly.

“Do what?”

He sighed, “I can fix the clog and the water pressure.”

Your eyes went wide, stunned by his generosity once again. “Really?”

Jacob nodded looking at his boots for a moment, “It’s an easy fix.”

He didn’t know that for sure, plumbing was one of those things where a small job could easily turn into a big one, but he didn’t want that plumber around, so he’d do it and get it done.

“Oh my god! That would be such a big help!” You clapped your hands together and bounced on the balls of your feet. “And I’d much rather have someone I know than some strange man, especially with it just me and Bonnie in the house.”

Jacob looked up and met your eyes, he hadn’t really even considered it like that. Why hadn’t he? He knew better than most how dangerous this world can be, he knew not to trust people and keep them at a distance.

His eyes narrowed. You were right, absolutely right, with it just being you and the babe, it wasn’t safe or smart letting just anyone in. Perhaps that’s why he rushed over.

“Ever think about upgrading the security here? Better locks, maybe even a security camera or motion sensor lights?” He questioned, his mind already racing.

You shrugged, “Sounds great, but I can’t really afford all that right now.”

Jacob grit his teeth, mulling it all over.

“I better go explain to the plumber that his services are no longer needed,” you said, heading towards the door.

Jacob’s hand caught your arm, fingers wrapping around it right above the elbow. “We’ll talk more about the security stuff later, I’ve got some stuff around the house I ain’t using.”

“Thank you, Jacob.”

A sudden cry from upstairs drew your attention.

“Sounds like Bonnie just woke up from her nap,” you said, shaking your head. “Do you mind telling the plumber he can go?” You asked Jacob.

He nodded, watching for a moment as you rushed upstairs.

Jacob stepped back onto the porch, arms crossed over his chest as he looked down at Guy. “You can go,” He said bluntly.

“Oh uh, but, what about…” Guy stammered almost incoherently, immediately stepping back as Jacob took another step forward.

Guy licked his lips nervously, “S-sorry about anything I may have said earlier to your girlfriend, didn’t know she was spoken for.”

Jacob paused, raising his eyebrow, but didn’t bother to correct him. “You better be,” he threatened, getting some kind of twisted pleasure watching the guy squirm.

“Yeah, of course, I'll just be on my way now,” Guy explained, practically running towards his truck, afraid to accidentally piss Jacob off.

As the work truck pulled away, Jacob relaxed a little, he felt triumphant watching the puny man scurry.

Figuring you still had your hands full, he went back to his house to gather some tools and supplies so he could get started right away.

Cleaning off his hands with an old rag, Jacob smirked watching the water run from the shower head. He did a damn pretty good, the water pressure was nice and strong, and the kitchen sink was draining again like it was brand new.

He felt a strange sort of satisfaction, on one hand he was proud of his work, of course, but he also felt good, he felt right. Taking care of you and your daughter felt right, even if you weren’t exactly his. Yet, there was a small voice in the back of his head that kept saying it was just a matter of time.

“Hey,” you chirped, popping your head in. “Turkey sandwiches alright for lunch?”

“Sounds good,” Jacob answered. “Just gotta clean up this mess and I’ll be down.”

You nodded before skipping back downstairs.

Walking down the steps, he paused at the last one and took in the scene before him. You were on the couch, your legs curled underneath you as you watched local TV while eating. Bonnie was on the rug, stacking blocks and babbling about all sorts of things. It was an endearing picture, simple and peaceful.

He noticed a plate sitting on the coffee table for him and the vacant spot on the couch across from it. Then a thought crossed Jacob’s mind that he was the piece missing from this picture.

Finally spotting him at the bottom of the staircase, you turned slightly and smiled patting the spot next to you. “Come have a break and some lunch!”

Jacob groaned a little as he sat down, he didn’t like to admit it, but he wasn’t a spring chicken anymore. He picked up half of his sandwich and took a couple of big bites.

The noise of the TV was drowned out as he focused on eating. He wasn’t big on television or movies really, he used his time more productively, typically working on his home, garden, or preparing for the future. When he did relax he read or played with the dogs. Occasionally, he’d go camping or fishing for a few days. He wondered if you’d ever like to go with him. There was a place close by where he could rent a cabin by the lake, nice and remote. Suddenly he sensed you tensing beside him.

On the news, there was a report about a missing child, apparently the kid was taken from his home in the middle of night right from his bed.

Your eyes furrowed with worry and sadness, staring at the screen while the reporter went into further detail. Instinctively you reached out and held Jacob’s hand. You squeezed it tightly, becoming engrossed in the news story.

Jacob hadn’t really been paying attention until he felt your hand on his. He gazed over at you from the corner of his eye, your face was quite expressive, he could tell almost exactly what you were feeling and thinking.

You were concerned about the safety of your own child, thinking about how you would do anything to keep her safe. He knew it probably wasn’t easy to be a woman on her own, especially with a small child.

He almost missed the warmth of your hand as you pulled it away grabbing the remote and turning off the TV.

“Sorry,” you muttered, unsure why you felt like you needed to apologize or explain. “But I couldn’t hear any more of that.”

He looked at you, and with a little hesitation patted your knee, “you’ll both be alright. I’ll make sure of it.”

Your eyes softened taking in the tough older man, he appeared so serious when speaking and honest, something about how his blue eyes didn’t waver when he spoke and the tone of his voice was calm and soothing.

Jacob cleared his throat, suddenly aware of how that may have come out, “We’ll get you set up with better security starting tomorrow.”

“Oh, yeah, right,” you laughed lightly. “Of course.”

You saw Jacob out, carrying Bonnie in your arms. “Good night!”

“Night,” he muttered back.

Jacob could hear his dogs from the porch making a fuss, but his mind was preoccupied. He was already thinking of installing a motion sensor light outside your house, changing the locks to the front and back door, maybe he could even convince you to have one of the dogs over at your house. He’d pity anyone stupid enough to break into his home with his pack waiting. Either way, he’d make sure you were safe.

So I want to smoke weed with faith, and yes I'm high rn so this may be peak of my writing capabilities lmaoo also reader hasn't smoked with faith yet so you just hang out with her

You lay on the bed bored and Faith walks over to you and greets you by saying "hey sweetie! I'm home for a while so what do you want to do?" You grinned and asked her "I have some weed, so do you want to smoke?" The blondes face lights up and she says "can we hang out in the car and stop by the store and park by dead man's river!?" You laugh and reply "yeah, babe we can do whatever you want, put something other than that dress on so the resistance doesn't think you're going to hurt them" she runs to her closet, mostly full of band shirts that she stole from you and your hoodies a few minutes later she walked out wearing a (favorite band) shirt, jeans, and one of your hoodies wrapped around her waist, of course your clothes are oversized on her, but she loved them and you love seeing her happy. You grabbed your phone, weed, and speaker and went to the car you got into the driver seat and drove to a gas station and you both got out of the car you sent her to get snacks, and you got (favorite drink) and her favorite drink Faith walked up to you with her arms full of your and hers favorite candies and chips. You put walked to the front and bought your items, then went to the car driving to the river you pulled out your speaker and your Spotify to play some music, then got your bowl out. You both smoked in the back seat under a blanket you were both stoned and when her favorite songs came up she pulled you out of the car to dance (pick one of these bc they're amazing) STORY CONTINUES ⬇️

You held Faith with your arms around her waist and her arms were around your neck, slow dancing next to the body of water, falling in love all over again, you stared into her eyes and thought about how lucky you are to have her and pulled her in closer, telling her how much you appreciate her and you pulled her into a slow kiss, just savoring this moment in your mind, she sat down in the grass, and ate a handful of candy, you knew some people would say that she's beautiful in her dress and when she's all dolled up, but you love this, her wearing your clothes smiling and listening to amazing music, you love her, and always will, you'd never do anything to hurt her and will destroy anyone who does, you may not believe in edens gate, but you joined for her and will stay unless she wants to leave, you ask her to go into the car and she does, you and her sit together and start making out under a blanket music still blasting, you were both content the weed enhanced the euphoria you both felt, you wished this moment could last forever.

for the cinephile byler truthers. i made the party’s modern au letterboxd accounts

in my head mike wheeler is the film bro cinephile of the party. hes a big brad pitt fan and fincher is his favorite director if you even care.. dirty dancing would be in his top 4 if he was honest. he went to see dune cause hes a scifi nerd, ended up hating it so much and complained about it to will but still gave it 2 stars cause it was pretty. did leave a very mean review. very critical rater but mostly leaves high ratings because he just doesn’t watch things he doesnt wanna see.

the thing is so good and he has a poster of it on his wall in canon so it felt right. it just feels wrong not to do ghostbusters (plus its one of my favorite movies…) and yall need to hear me out on brokeback 😭😭😭 ur telling me he wouldnt bawl his eyes out??? ur wrong. will byers is a jake gyllenhaal lover. he watches dirty dancing a lot for mike, and loves ghibli movies a lot. he cried during rain man. honest rater but doesnt take it too seriously, mostly 4/5 star ratings

rogue one because lucas has taste. its the best star wars movie, if u care. he would love how fun and goofy ghostbusters 2 is. in my head Wes Anderson is like the party’s claimed director and they all watch his movies together and do marathons because the weirdness, comedy, and emotional commentary is a perfect mix for them. so. bottle rocket. lucas’ favorite wes anderson is the grand budapest hotel if u wanted to know. he rates things pretty highly and isn’t super critical.

I'm a big far cry fan, which means I have to make my own food in this economy. But sometimes I just want some ACTUAL canon or canon-ish or even just canon-adjacent content, y'know? It has gotten to the point I go into youtube rabbit holes or watch a remarkably below average hallmark movies for 5 minutes of an actor's screentime to hopefully hear Jason or Ajay or whoever talk. not gonna put in FC6 stuff because they're actually very easy to find! lots of trailers and mocaps and interviews on youtube :) Far Cry 6 actually has a more obscure lore in their comics

Far Cry: Esperanza's Tears comic // this is a Juan-centric prequel comic that features a completely new country, lore about Far Cry universe's political landscape, and lots of cameos from 3-6's characters! very interesting read especially if you're a sucker for backstories like me

Far Cry: Rite of Passage comic // this is more popular as it features Anton telling Diego the backstories for 3-5's villains.

There is also a book titled The Official Far Cry Survival Guide written by a fictional character called Hunter Nash, who supposedly grew up with Hope County-level of a doomsday prepper dad and winds up as a journalist who travels to the locations of 3-6 and wrote how to survive each location accordingly. It's adorned with official artwork of the games and plenty of survival tips. Not much lore-wise, but cool nonetheless! it also fuels my co-workers au ideas but that's personal.

i have actually found stuff like a really old MTV show called Undressed with Gianpaolo Venuta where he uses his Jason voice for his character, and how Patrick Kwok-Choon, the new voice actor for Ajay does voice acting in Thomas the Train Engine and Paw Patrol, and an indie movie with Greg Bryk where he wears fun sunglasses like Joseph, but that's neither here nor there to the franchise, so eh. // i'll edit this post if i find more, so maybe check back sometimes!

What are your favorite things about the turtles that you like about them individually starting with Leonardo and then Donatello and then Michelangelo and then Raphael

My favorite things about the individual turtles (or things I associate with them)

Warnings: Somewhat emotional, talks of bullying by adults.

All Turtles:

I feel like this is very important to mention first, as it speaks a lot about my love for the turtles in general. All of these reasons are very much personal, and have very little to do with the turtles personalities, and more memories I have with them and other people in my life.

I have been a TMNT fan ever since kindergarten. I was 2 years old when 2003 turtles first came on television, so when I started in kindergarten at 3, they were already pretty established not just for me, but all of the other kids in kindergarten, especially the boys. And that leads us to another important point - I was a tomboy when I was young, and to a certain degree I still am to this day. I hated pink, and would scream and yell if I was put into a dress. But I did enjoy “boy clothes”, and I did ask my mom to only buy me “boy clothes”, so she did. I also played with action figures or played “rough” with the Barbie dolls, and my closest friends were all boys, or girls that somewhat understood my way of playing.

Now, being a tomboy is nowhere special or anything abnormal, but in the kindergarten I was in, the adults not only saw it as abnormal and concerning. I was never bullied by the kids in my kindergarten, but I was by the adults. They sang songs that made me cry, and they tried to force me to play with toys a certain way. At times I even tried to run away from my kindergarten, going so far as to jump the fence and run home. It got so bad that my dad, who at the time worked at the city council, had to step in and threaten them with legal action, just to make them stop singing the song that continuously made me cry.

But throughout all of this, every high and low in kindergarten, I clung onto TMNT. It was how I could play with both boys and girls, and became my first hyper fication. It even led to a description of me that the other kids would use when describing me to the new kinds; “This is (...). She wears boy clothes, hates Barbie dolls and loves Ninja Turtles”.

TL;DR, TMNT became my comfort obsession during bullying from adults in kindergarten, and it has stuck ever since, coming back during my depressive episode in 2023.

Leonardo:

Leo has always been my favorite ninja turtle. My favorite color was and is still blue, and I like to think he had something to do with it. He was the turtle I would dress up as at Fastelavn, and I really looked up to his views on honor and responsibilities. Back then I was the oldest child in the family, and I took my role as big sister very seriously, often seeking to protect my little brother.

I will even go so far as to say that Leonardo was my first fictional crush. I still remember watching 2003 in the living room, and getting somewhat irritated that he wasn’t real. Even more irritated when people had to bring up that none of the turtles were real. Way to kill the vibe for a 3 - 5 year old, lol.

In kindergarten, I would hide the Leonardo figure, or just walk around with it in my pocket. I clung to it, and got really sad when someone wanted to take it, since they were playing with the other turtles. Not long ago my brother dug through our old toys, and found the Leo figure my parents got me when I was young. It is now sitting in a bowl next to a Barbie doll I won at drag bingo, lol.

To this day Leo is still my favorite. I resonate with him and his struggles quite a lot. Each version of him always struck something with me, providing me with some sense of comfort. Maybe it is because he wants to protect, and that made me feel protected? Or he seems very driven by rules and morality, in a way that I do too. If I don’t, I get really anxious, so it’s nice to see someone else do it.

Donatello:

My love for Donatello is relatively new. I’ve always loved him, but for the little version of me, he was often forgotten. He was the last figure I would react for, and was the last turtle who’s name I remembered, often referred to as “the purple one”. Generally, in the kindergarten I went to, it was the fewest who showed interest in Donatello, always fighting over the other turtles.

However, as an adult, I’ve come to admire Donatello much more. It took quite some time before I came to realize the importance of him, and I would like to say that Rise played a big part of that. Up until then, I remembered Donnie as being shown as the “least coolest” (which I know now is very much not true”.

With Rise Donnie being coded with autism, my brother suddenly had a turtle to mirror with. While I had Leonardo in my childhood, my brother now had Donatello in his teenage years, and to be honest, that means a lot to me. To me, Donnie has now become a character that symbolizes late but powerful blooming. My brother is first now finding himself, and he turned 20 a month ago, so when he tells me that Rise Donnie makes him feel represented, and showed him that someone like him could be loved, it really touched me.

MM Donnie is currently the turtle in the keychain I’ve attached to my backpack, and is the turtle that has made my brother interested in TMNT. I sat with my almost 2 year old niece, and she noticed the Donnie on my backpack. She started to play with it, and it very quickly became a great bonding experience. So to me, Donnie is closely tied with personal growth and bonding.

Michelangelo:

I’ve come to realize that I have much more in common with Michelangelo than I first thought I had. First of all, he is the orange turtle, and I’m a natural redhead, so we match. Second of all is ADHD. It wasn’t until I was 21 that I learned I have ADHD, and just before I learned how to tackle it, I was hit with the death of my grandma, and had to quit work due to stress which turned into a pretty bad depression.

Those that have read my Bayverse Children Series, know that I’ve called Mikey’s daughter Sunny and his son Luis, both names that I connect with ideas of the sun. Sunny because it sounds like the sun, and Luis because it makes me think of king Louis the XIV, aka, the sun king. That is because I see Mikey as a very happy guy. Obviously, he is not happy all the time, and when we do experience him being sad or mad, we know that something is very wrong. But he generally has a very upbeat personality that reminds me of the sun, or maybe even just sunlight.

If Leo is the comfort and a personality I can see myself in, and Donnie is personal growth and bonding, then I see Mikey as the light at the end of the tunnel. An friendly and sympathetic person that wants the best for you, and will help you on the road to recovery. That’s at least how I see him and his brothers, as imaginary friends that have wished me the best.

Doesn’t hurt that he is a cat person. Every moment or scene with Mikey talking to or helping a cat, very much reminded me of me and my own cat. Me and my cat was just as close as Mikey and all of his cats are. RIP Mini💔

Raphael:

Leo is my comfort and the turtle I mirror in, Donnie is growth and bonding, Mikey is a helping hand through the darkness, then Raph is personal drive and passion.

In kindergarten, Raphael was my second favorite turtle, but I do remember that he was many of my friends' favorit. During my internship at a different kindergarten, I learned that he was all of the kids' favorit. And honestly, I see why. To me, he is the stereotypical young kid that doesn’t know how to express his emotions in a healthy way, leaving them with a lot of strong emotions that only keeps building and building, until it reaches a boiling point. And I’m pretty sure that a lot of people can see themselves in that.

Like many people we meet in our life, Raph has a really hard exterior, but is truly a really emotional guy on the inside. I think many kids see themselves in his emotional outbursts, and understand the frustration and build up he can feel. But that doesn’t make him less of a good person.

At my internship, I learned that one of the kids from last year that is now in school (I never met him), was actually named Raphael. I’ve told this before, but he was a big TMNT fan and would carry plastic sais to kindergarten. I later learned from the adult working there, that he also had the personality of Raphael, and was in some ways just as “hot tempered”. He had a hard time communicating with the other kids, as his emotions would often get in the way, causing him to lash out due to his frustration. And yup, he did throw one of his fake sais ast one of the kids once. But like the turtle, it didn’t make him any less good. From what I’ve been told, he was very passionate about whatever he did, and was very good at involving other kids in whatever he was playing or doing. He has obviously had a big impact on said kindergarten, as even a year after he left, they are still talking about him. And honestly, I get it. If his anything like the turtle Raphael, he is obviously lovable, even if he could be a bit of a hard nail sometimes.

New York Comic Con 2023 and the Energon Universe panel is in the books

And while the room wasn't COMPLETELY full, there was a big crowd for said Energon Universe panel. Daniel Warren Johnson, Robert Kirkman, Joshua Williamson, and others came to the panel to announce that their plan involved making all these disparate parts work together as a series, including Void Rivals, which Kirkman specifically said was aiming to feel like it could have been a sister line with the Joes and Transformers (and considering Hasbro owns the property, probably means if it is successful they'll get toys of their own).

Some highlights and spoilers -

Daniel Warren Johnson knows people are upset at Bumblebee dying and frankly, does not care. "I feed on your tears", was his quote, which got a big laugh. Specifically, he didn't want to draw Bumblebee, hence his death in Issue 1, a death that he and Kirkman have confirmed will stick and Hasbro was totally cool with. With Bee dead, the panel concluded that there's more freedom to work with other characters and a lot more tension about who will live and who will die, since plot armor due to Hasbro demands is not a thing in the Energon Universe.

There was a big focus on GI Joe and how it will connect with the Transformers since the idea is that the Transformers' appearance causes the world to shift in a major way. The Duke miniseries will focus on how a traumatized Duke deals with the fallout of his fight with Starscream in the upcoming Transformers #2, and how Joe is founded specifically to combat them. Rebranding the Joes as an anti-alien strike force/international crisis team also seems to be a way to deal with getting away from the "jingoistic army toys" stigma that hasn't played as well since the Reagan years (even if most Joe fiction like Larry Hama's comics condemn blind jingoism). Interestingly, the initial lineup includes the Baroness, who's traditionally a high-ranking Cobra member and romantically entangled with Destro.

3. Cobra meanwhile is shown to be what is specifically described as a horror comic about Cobra Commander using the discovery of the Cybertronians to fuel his plans for world domination, and how Cobra Commander brings together a lot of disparate elements that otherwise would never have worked together to join his quest for world domination. More fuel is thrown on the "Cobra Commander's Luger is actually Megatron" fire, but of course, nothing is confirmed.

Another surprise for the initial lineup is the big guy in the back is Mercer, a character introduced in the GI Joe movie as an ex-Cobra officer who had "seen the light". Whether he does this time is another matter.

4. Back to the Transformers. The running idea (besides a minor but notable undercurrent of "Screw IDW") was that this is using the cartoons as gospel rather than the comics, but it will eventually expand beyond that initial concept using other characters. Specifically, during a quick Q&A at the end, someone asked about the Japanese characters, and Kirkman said while he had no immediate plans for them, he was actually a big fan of Star Saber, while Johnson mentioned liking the Japanese openings. A far cry from IDW making them all villains and losers.

5. Johnson is a big fan of wrestling. Kirkman, not so much. This led to some funny banter on stage about Johnson's tendency to fill fight scenes from the initial script (which will often just say "Character A and Character B fight") with wrestling moves like Optimus Prime introducing himself to Starscream with a Rainmaker Lariat before giving him a German Suplex. Despite Kirkman not being a fan, everyone on stage and the crowd seemed to agree that it gave the fight scenes a dynamic look that is new to the Transformers.

6. Void Rivals has not been forgotten in all this. While after Issue #6 it will be taking a five-month break, the series will continue to serve as the backbone of what's going out outside of Earth.

Including the teased appearance of the Quintesson Judge. Kirkman also promised more backstory, like possibly getting to see the Skuxxoid's family and other species that are part of the cartoon lore as part of his efforts to build out the universe while still making Void Rivals its own thing that is engaging without the other series.

7 The main goal of everyone is that while all the various series are part of a big story that is the Energon Universe, the reader can read just one and get a full experience. That being said, it's clear that the ultimate goal is for them all to work together.

And those are the highlights of the panel. Fun times are ahead if you're a Transformers fan, and after years of mismanagement and neglect, it sounds like the GI Joe-related stuff will be very interesting to see. Still, the focus right now is the comics, so my pie-in-the-sky theory about this being a dry run for a big animated show in the vein of Invincible will have to wait for another year.

It really sucks that the sheriff's dept (Whitehorse, Pratt, Hudson) dont get credit for anything. It sure feels that way at least. It feels like people forget their contributions.

Whitehorse protected and led the Cougars from the Hope County Jail. Provided guidance to those people and took control of the situation as best he could.

Staci and Joey both survived torture and just general horrible treatment under their respective heralds. But Staci freed the Rookie Deputy at what he assumed would be the cost of his own life. And Joey freed herself and killed multiple cultists in a final stand. Not only that, but freeing the other prisoners was HER idea!

"There were other people down here with me... We are gonna get them out. And then we are gonna burn this whole fucking place down. Help me, or stay out of my way."

Whitehorse gives you missions and a place of refuge, Staci gives you your life back, and Joey literally walks you through what to do in John's Gate to free all the prisoners there. But none of them get credit for it. The game doesnt and neither does the community. I think it's a shame that theyre overshadowed by the Seeds, who hurt them each so reprehensibly

I understand your frustration because, as people, Whitehorse, Hudson, and Pratt are indeed better than the Seed family, and they undeniably do and go through many things in the game. They’re survivors, fought hard, and helped numerous people, so they have a lot of merit and deserve recognition.

But one of the reasons I think many fans seem to care more about Joseph and his Heralds, aside from the fact people love fictional villains in general, is that, as characters, they’re more developed and layered. It’s clear the devs spent a great deal of time and effort on the Seeds, so they’re complex and interesting to analyze. Also, Far Cry 5 humanizes its antagonists a lot by having them talk about their pasts in story cutscenes that every player will see, but if you want information on the Sheriff’s Department, you have to go find its members to talk to them and—maybe, if you get the right lines of dialog—learn a bit more about their lives and feelings. In a way, caring about the Seeds is “easier”.

But even though more light is shed on Joseph, Jacob, John, and Faith, in Far Cry 5 itself or other official content, I wouldn’t say Earl, Joey, and Staci were completely forgotten by the community. I’ve seen many posts about them here and I know they have fans too, so don’t worry, a lot of people love them and appreciate their contributions :)
