saw someone on here describe reading as a passive activity. and like no judgement on this person but I think we have fundamentally different relationships to reading

#like I would disagree that reading is passive on a baseline level for a lot of people too #although I have hobbies I would qualify as fairly passive in the sense that I’m not expending deep attention to doing them #like my joy of those hobbies is derived primarily through the fact that I don’t have to think hard about them and just go with the flow #and so like if that is your relationship to reading that makes sense to me #BUT. I would strongly disagree with universalising the idea that reading is passive

Your diaphragm is the main force - pushing against the lungs at rest. #Your ribcage on the other hand is under a state of being pulled outwards. It *wants* to be as open as possible. #These to contradicting forces create a constant push and pull which assists in the ebb and flow of air. Most significantly with exhalation. #Now that being said - the primary action of inhalation ventilation is through control centers in your brainstem. #If you lose connection to that due to trauma you're going to need ventilation assistance. #Small note: Respiration is the cellular event of chemical exchange in the alveoli. I personally think that the codywan worm gf conversation would go something like this (cw: not safe for worms):

It's late at night and they're cuddled together in bed--Obi-Wan's fuzzy cheek pillowed on Cody's nice and squishy chest--when Obi-Wan says, "Would you love me if-"

Without hesitation, Cody says, "Yes."

Obi-Wan curls his arm tighter around Cody's midsection and says, rather bitchily, "You didn't let me finish."

"I love you a million stupid ways and I'd love you a million more, you jackass. Go to sleep."

Cody kisses the top of his head and determinedly plays with his hair like he can't feel Obi-Wan's face all scrunched up trying not to cry.

But then Obi-Wan sniffs snottily and presses his nose ever so fondly further into Cody's breast (who frowns because they exchange a lot of body fluids but he'd rather not add mucus to the list) and says, "I'd love you if you were a worm as well."

"A worm?!"

Suffice to say, things get weird. Some really odd worm roleplay happens because Cody can't let Obi-Wan escape this. He will beat the horse till Obi-Wan begs and pleads mercy for even bringing the horse into existence.

Sweaty and breathless and endlessly in love as Obi-Wan bleats out giggles like a lunatic between smiled gasps of, "stop," and, "no more," Cody flops his full body weight directly on top of him. Definitely top five silliest sex they've had. Satisfying though. Fun.

They sleep very affirmed now that they've thoroughly loved one another as if they were worms.

Honestly, it makes me sad that some fans of the Jedi have such a strong hatred for Ahsoka because Filoni uses her as a conduit for all of his room-temp takes™️ about the Jedi. On one level I think Ahsoka is sort of the perfect character to explore the relationship O66 survivors have with their memories of the Order and I don't think taking her words as objective fact of the universe is an interesting or worthwhile interaction with them. The oft-worshipped "Lucas Canon" of the Jedi stands whether or not Ahsoka is written as "critical" of the Jedi. It's a closed circuit, and the other stuff does not hold the same weight.

On the other level I think hating a fictional character—which is to say, nothing more than words on a page spoken by an actor and animated/costumed by artists—to the point of posting long-winded takedowns of them for anything is just plain childish and not really worth anyone's time? It takes a lot of sustained anger to write 1,500 word rants about some guy that doesn't exist. IMO it's "get a new hobby" levels of sustained anger.

Ahsoka is interesting to me as both a solemn devotee of the teachings of her childhood and as a bitter, traumatized survivor trying to reconcile her need to pass on these teachings with the narrative she made for herself to "explain" what is ultimately a senseless genocide. If you don't agree, cool! Take a deep breath and go play with the figurines of the characters you do like. It's a free country, y'all.
