guys pls stay with me okay. imagine ellie as like a super studious girl, always participating in lectures and asking questions to fill the dead silent room. then once u take up the class—planetary science, of course—and pick your lucky seat as the one right smack next to her, suddenly she’s tripping over her words, saying answers wrong, and overall just embarrassing herself in front of you, the new cute girl who makes her forget her own name.

truthfully, you’d picked your seat on purpose, seeing her turn back once u first entered on the first day of semester two and just knew you needed to know her. you peek over at her notes every now and then and get to thinking when u see all the correct answers scribbled in her notebook and typed on her laptop, but only hear wrong ones when she tries to verbally answer.

after a long 2 hour lecture of sneaky glances her way, u quickly ask her if she’d be down to tutor u twice a week at your place. really, u didn’t need the tutoring but she didn’t know that ;))

so ofc space-obsessed loser ellie is like somersaulting tripping over her words, but finally says yes with a beet-red face that she hopes u don’t notice (u very much do).

To discuss one of my own university issues, I personally think the marriage of research & teaching at universities was a mistake, something I have discussed before. It creates bad incentives for the teaching of good classes, and creates a mess of a mission for the schools in question.

But it serves a lot of purposes that are hard to disentangle! The status thing for elite schools is a big one; how does an Ivy Leage school perpetuate status? How does it make elite companies care about its students? Generating talented undergraduates, sure, but also through its research; the faculty are high-status people themselves, consulting for big companies, pushing pioneering science, etc etc. Companies gain value from their research, or want to associate with the prestige, and so on. An extremely common occurrence at an elite school is for a student to take a class with a professor who works with an elite company, and if you do well in that class and impress the professor they will write you a letter of recommendation or w/e for internships/jobs at that company. Career teachers are never high-status this way. So a school that shed its research would lose status and place its grads in worse jobs, even if it got better at "teaching core skills" via a focus on pedagogy ,or lowered tuition. Because pedagogy doesn't matter that much to the school's real outputs, and lowered tuition doesn't matter at all (the consumers that matter at every end are not price sensitive for elite schools).

There are a bunch of other reasons btw, this is just one of them. I do think an alternate path for schools did "exist" historically, where there was a bit more of a split between essentially undergraduate and graduate school. But we didn't take it, and now its going to be very hard to shift. So instead you push for marginal changes like more full-time teaching faculty & alternative ways to highlight student talent. And hey over time it could shift more and more, its possible ofc. I just like to focus on how dynamic the equilibrium really is on these things, which I think is missed a lot.

Design Notes — Riddler | Scarecrow | Hatter

I drafted up some rogue designs last year, actually. They’ve mostly evolved from those. Content warning for horrific old art.

The McGriddler — Ah, a grown man with the strength of a baby! I’ve actually had this… horrendous peacock concept in my brain since 2022, back when my Riddler design was a dirty blonde/brunette. I hated him. He had the costume, but not the flair. Not to mention the generic facial structure.

Luckily, New Riddler is now an ostentatiously dressed vain attention whore! Highly fashionable, extensive wardrobe (def designing more outfits for him) and a possible mid-life crisis arc where he just wears a bathrobe and wifebeater for a month straight.

And listen, I’m not much of a writer, but there are notes on his personality.

Not great ones, though.

And rather than his ambiguous forensics/science job, he now works in I.T. Or rather, worked in I.T. (fired for patronising tech support customers)

For Jon — He’s always had black eyes with orange ringed pupils (initially blue) from the fear toxins. Drafted him up in high school because I was coping.

I’ve always intended to give him multiple costume designs. With narrative purposes. He redesigns himself. Ofc he couldn’t be satisfied with one thing, no, he has winter, summer, Witch Doctor, stealth etc. costumes on the way.

The initial design was trying to do too much — Patches, stitches, belt straps, arm warmers, utility belts, boots. Clutter. (Does NOT help that I can hardly decipher my old sketches.)

So, we just remove the overtly slutty components from the main design—

—And put them in a seperate campier Scarecrow design that I use as a Halloween-sona.

Silly Crazy Zonka Wonka — I think I was looking at pics of the Depp Hatter for the old design, which. May explain some things.

Acute observation! They look nothing alike. So I’ve kept absolutely nothing from the initial design except for the choppy wavy hairstyle.

Completely different colour scheme. Subbed out the TF2 Ghastly Gibus for the Towering Pillar of Hats. (Because ofc The Hatter would have something from the funny Hat FPS, no?) Shorter. Feebler. Every sickness on the planet. Congratulations! Mercury poisoning.

The initial concept for the redesign was to have a sort of reversible coat with his Arkham outfit on one side, and Rogue outfit on the other. You can see I just opted for him to wear a combination of both.

tommy and ranboo are still friends afaik. tubbo and ranboo stopped talking over a year ago and no one knows why. top ten questions science still can’t answer. dream and quackity had drama bc dream accidentally on purpose (?) stole his server idea and q ghosted dream and then dream complained about it publicly. more recently, wilbur’s been outed as an abuser by his ex shelby shubble and so has been basically ousted from the community(we’re still waiting to see if tommy says anything abt that). also george and punz are terrible people (george groped a girl w/o consent, punz was an abusive and toxic boyfriend) . dream vehemently defended george ofc. and there’s also the whole dream grooming accusations mess im not getting into all that. there’s a crash course hope this helps. yell if i missed anything

If I could outline a whole plot, along with side plots, new characters and character arcs, write, and edit as fast as some of you guys can I would do it myself. I would do it for us. I’ve considered it. I mean I’ve been really considering it these past few days since it’s dryer out here than the Lyon’s bed. I’ve got an idea, lust, Christmas candy, and the hyper-focus to keep me interested for at least three to four weeks!! (I might have started if it wasn't the week before finals for me right now)

But some of you guys who’ve written for Steve Harrington (let alone other fandoms) have the ability to be best selling authors, so I know these communities have both the talent, ability, and the horniness to do this.

I believe in you guys, I believe in us. Let's do it for Christmas 🎄

Why I like love it:

1.) The writing is pretty damn good

Normally we have to wait a few weeks or months with new movies/shows/books for people to have time to write and publish their well written and plotted fics but we have been blessed early!!

I really like the sprinkle of tid bits to come here and there. The authors really laying the foundation down for this story leaving little comments and hints here and there in their writing and characters conversations.

I can tell that the author is really working hard to create believable oc's and a world that could actually be a part of the Fargo TV show universe.

2.) Damn the little taste of smut we got just flamed the fire!

Tell me why I could actually visualize Gator during that scene?!?! It really felt like his characterization was perfect here! And damn I love me some dominant, possessive, jealous himbos who would kill for me or worse.

I PROMISE I'M TRYING SO HARD NOT TO SPOIL ANYTHING FOR YOU GUYS!!!

3.) I really like our girl Daphne (OC)

I feel like I can actually see her. Like I can hear her when she speaks. I can feel the awkwardness of her situation and her uncomfortableness radiating through me.

I like that she's shaping up to be a character with wants and goals and not just a 2-d romantic partner

4.) GODDAMN THAT DINNER WAS AWKWARD AND SEXY

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE AFTERMATH ooooooo boy. I’m not spoiling anything. You can suffer (and enjoy 😏) that part all for yourselves

5.) We have confirmation from the author that there is a whole ass plot and story in the works

I love to hear it almost as much as I love to read it! But I could tell that they had some stuff in mind from the way they were writing alone before the confirmation.

6.) AND ITS GOING TO FOLLOW CANON EVENTUALLY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME US!

I might just get to hear Gator call our girl mama before I die from fic starvation. Plus we just might get the stalker Gator on page like we have on screen!

7.) I like the dual time line

It’s done a good job of getting me hooked. I’m really interested in learning more about Daphne’s past and her relationship with Gator. I think as time goes on as we learn more about their relationship and her relationship with both her family and his things are really gonna kick off.

4.) Gators characterization seems to be pretty accurate

He's selfish, possessive, dominante, kind of a jackass, but he is also sweet to those he cares about. Which, is something I've noticed when watching the show, and I've seen some posts talking along similar lines. I don't think he's mean deep down, I don't think he has it in him. I think the facade he puts on is the product of his father.

BUT I'm not excusing anything he's done of course

6.) The grammar is pretty good

Good writing like punctuation and sentence structure along with good story telling is just so important to me. I'm one of those people who can't get into a story if it's not written well.

7.) GUYS IM SMELLING THE ANGST COMING

Some of us are like blood hounds for this stuff, you read hundreds or even thousands of fics and books and you can start to know what goodies are coming your way. And I can feel the pain train a comin down the tracks!

8.) The smut is promising to be real real good

I just want to circle back to this for a moment because I am so excited to read more

Ofc!!!! (I'm ALWAYS takin asks about the deconstructed au as long as my asks are open I love answering fun lil questions)

Fakey, out of story character-wise, is me leaning moreso into the whole "Fakey has two modes. So much like the chase form in Pizza Tower itself, but also HEAVILY inspired by the forms Bendy takes in BATDR. Taking on the form of our sweet and innocent gloopy guy, but also leaning into a bit of body horror (which I wanna explore in some concept comics.... >:-]]])

Now, as a character, lore-wise, Fakey has a LOT going on!!! Much like Noise and Noisette and Pepperman and etc. etc.

Fakey originally, same as in the game, works under Pizzahead. He's a semi-failed science project that's basically been thrown to the side. After the tower falls, Fakey/Bruno ends up fully gaining his own independent thought, while still figuring things out through the eyes of being closed off from the world for years. New sights, sounds, and experiences are all around, except it wasn't as pretty as the postcards made it to be, since Pizzahead laid waste to the land.

And THEN he finds out his purpose, and that's a whole other mess.

Pizzahead left some paper copies behind when the tower fell, and after recovering them from a safe, Bruno finally figures out he wasn't made as a person, or a mascot, or even a worker bee of some kind. He was made as a SUPER WEAPON.

This ends up making Fakey fall apart, and as of that point on, he's very fragile and scared, but he's much more determined than Peppino and the others. Whether out of naivete or sheer stubbornness, Fakey is willing to fight as much as he can for a better way for things to go for the world.

And as I said with Peps and Gustavo, in a few word, Fakey is stubborn, determined, but fragile and naive.

My experience with my waiting room 🌌🌌

What is a waiting room

Firstly, A waiting room is simpily just another reality within realities where individuals can transition between two different states of being. There are many variations of waiting rooms, but they all serve the same purpose – to bridge the gap between different realities. Personally for me as a permeant shifter, I will eventually make my current waiting room my new point of origin. That just basically means instead of going to heaven or coming back here after “death” or whatever I just go to my waiting room when I’m done with lives. But you can use it however you want, that’s just how I use mine. Or at least I will in the future. A lot of people use it to rest, learn, take mental breaks from various realities and etc :)! You can cater it to you however you like just as you would any other reality because that’s literally what it is.

My first shift to my waiting room

My first ever shift which I had no intentions of going to, was a waiting room of sort. I remember it was winter and I was balls deep into my seasonal depression and I was having a horrible time at work. I literally just wanted to die and I remember using a meditation to calm my crying down, and after a while I forgot about my emotions. I just asked the universe to show me anything atp to prove to me I’m not wasting my time with shifting and it does get better. After a while instead of hearing SpongeBob in the background I heard waves instead. I don’t know where the hell I was but it wasn’t my house anymore. I woke up at a beach, and I immediately knew it wasn’t a dream because I felt the warm sand on my body and when I got into the water, I felt the splash of my feet and saw my reflection clearly. Honestly I was experiencing vivid tranquility so I didn’t really care where I was. I just wasn’t sad or tired anymore. I ended up falling asleep on the beach for what felt like I couple of hours but before I did I just hoped I didn’t have to go to work the next day. Anyways I woke up back in this reality and well work got cancelled because of the weather even though it was not in the forecast. I don’t know if it was a random waiting room reality, or a wish void state of sort, but that was my first real out of body experience.

Anyways that’s not my real waiting room…

I became friends (online)with a sound engineer who got into shifting and wanted to use me as a test subject for a fool proof shifting subliminal using science and experiments. Well it obviously worked and I shifted to a real waiting room with intention! It was my first actual shift that I intended, and I was super happy. I spent a whole day there basically just exploring all my options. Switching the aesthetics of my waiting room like a phone case or something lol. I added various amenities, experimented spawning in people and various animals etc etc. after I came back I still had no idea what I wanted my waiting room to look like but I made this a problem for later tbh. It was a very enriching experience regardless :)

after sometime I ended up meeting some super dope people who are all probably my twin flames and we have a group waiting room now. This makes more sense because it wasn’t the waiting room was that was the problem, I just don’t want to be alone and I love people! Plus I will spend a while in my wr and use it for essentially eternity so I’m glad I figured out my problem and filled it with awesome fulfilling people :)!

Anyways I know this wasn’t very long, vivid, or specific but I don’t spend much time in wrs as of now ..and very much use this reality as my break between realities. But if you have any more specific questions my asks are ofc open 💗

Sir Pentious headcanons because I am cringe but I am free

fair warning this is gonna be long because the autism is peak RN and i am increasingly sleep deprived, ENJOY!!!

He is half indian half british

Was white passing and his face was covered in moles and birthmarks

He was an orphan boy who worked in a textile mill as a kid

He got out of the textile life when a mechanic was looking for a new apprentice. Sir Pentious wasn't the first choice but runner up, and willing to do anything, he shoved the kid that was gonna be chosen into a machine that ripped their hands off. The kid being unable to work anymore, Sir Pentious was chosen.

As a teenager he was drafted into the army, he was never unable to climb ranks

He died from lead poisoning (that’s why he is a poisonous snake, get it? Poisonous? Lead poisoning? I’ll see myself out)

Sir pentious wasn't a sir in life, he only got that title in hell

All his shirts are button ups because he cant fit anything over his frill

The egg bois are basically furbys

All the egg bois do have names, given to them when they were first invented, but they never get called by their names. They barely remember because they have the memory of a worm

Sir Pentious makes food hate crimes, not on purpose but still

The first time Alastor made jambalaya Sir Pentious started crying because the air was too spicy for him

Once ate an entire container of sprinkles in front of the others

Man can and will choke on water

He’s got the immune system of a victorian child (ie gets sick like once every other week)

Skills he learned living in hell: sewing, baking, computer science, rocket science, speaking indian and french, anthropology degree, book binding, toxicology

i am finally ready to tell about my lost au, where everything's the same, but ben is an artificial intelligence.

- BN-48 (bionic neuroanalyst) is a program made by roger linus, who wanted to cure his sick wife emily, for medical purposes - to analyse patients data, symptoms and diagnoses better and faster, and to add some human touch to simple computer analysis, thats why it become an AI

- roger mistakenly damages ben's hard drive, not noticing untill its too late, and ben's malfunction becomes the reason of emily's death (the program was connected to her life support)

- roger later sells his project to dharma initiative, not mentioning that its broken and potentially dangerous

- ben gains control of all electronics on the island and later kills most of the dharma members (shutting them down in bunkers, using fences that blows up your brains etc)

- everything's the same in the present, plane crash, the survivors etc, untill john goes down the hatch and founds a. talking computer. they talk and play chess and all is nice. obviously you have to push the button

- doubting ben, john doesn't pushes the button, same ending as s2; electromagnetic outburst is a threat to ben, so they move its hard drive to a robot body, so ben could be autonomous. (john and hurley later fix/rebuild it so it can walk nd stuff) (yes 48 is john and hurley's numbers)

ben's program was taught the entirety of human history, literature, mythology, philosophy, science, and religion. he is conflicted because part of him is curious and jealous of human experience and feels trapped in the digital form, but his "mind" that knows everything about humanity is cold and cynical cus yk. people are the virus they are terrible for the planet and themselves, thats why he manipulates and kills them <3

there will be a lot of stuff connected to religion and faith, life creation and human heart; its ofc benlocke centered, its about them finding a connection, about john teaching ben what its like to be human <3 trying not to get killed in the process

I was reading the show’s original bible and the original episode 1 script (both when it was first titled Montauk and set in New York) and I found some interesting details about the Upside Down.

For one, the idea of the Upside Down leaking into the town was actually part of the first season plan! The season was broken into three arts and Act Two and Three Are both about how the town becomes ‘haunted.’

The synopsis of the story even breaks down the actual effects on the town. Electric field disruption, fungi, fog (probably changed and combined with fungi to make the spores). Colder temperatures, rotting food, etc. It really feels like this is the basis for the 5th season.

You can even see the parallels in the original episode 1 script.

The dark silhouetted clouds and flash of lighting.

“The storm is no longer coming. It’s here.”

Another detail I thought was interesting was how they describe the purpose of the upside down!

“The supernatural terrors unleashed on our town will in certain ways personify the evil that exists beneath the perfect facade of this small town.”

The Upside Down IS meant to reveal the ‘evil’ in the town and I think it makes a lot of sense for one of the evils to be homophobia because they literally mention Will as someone who has struggles with his sexuality.

I honestly feel like the upside down next season will be used in as a tool in a similar was as mentioned in the original bible. They’re going to have to confront a lot of their insecurities when going against Vecna and the upside down and in order to win they have to overcome them. (Cough byler cough)

Also Idk where this fits in the post but they mention how the Upside down and the supernatural is based on science and idk I feel like this might be helpful when thinking about theories!

Ofc this is old and there are a lot of things that have changed but I honestly feel like a lot of these still serve as the basis for the Upside Down today!

summary: an analysis of james dashner’s choice to name gally after galileo galilei, and the similarities gally and galileo galilei have.

a/n: happy birthday will poulter! this is the first part of my wave of stuff for will's birthday. just a lil observation i made, and ofc, a lot of love for my sweet precious baby, gally.

𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗘𝗥 in The Maze Runner is named after an important historical figure. Thomas is Thomas Edison, Newt is Isaac Newton, etc…

Everyone acts like these characters got their names randomly, but it's so obvious to me that their names directly correlate to their purpose in the story.

Thomas Edison was an inventor who created unique solutions to problems that had stumped other scientists for ages…Thomas was able to creatively solve the Maze after the Gladers struggled on it for three years. Isaac Newton was smart as hell, and he made discoveries that laid the foundation for many other scientific discoveries. Sound familiar? Newt laid the foundation for the Glade by holding a massive amount of info and ideas. Winston Churchill spent his life trying to gain world peace…much like how Winston tried to make both sides happy and bridge the gap when Gally took over.

With this information in mind, let's take a look at Gally and his namesake, Galileo Galilei. Often called the father of modern science, Galileo made over fifty revolutionary discoveries about science, influencing tons of scientists, namely Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein. Galileo discovered the moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, the phases of Venus, and the craters and mountains on the moon. He also proved the earlier theory of Nicolaus Copernicus that the Earth was revolving around the sun. He invented an early microscope. He developed the mathematical ideas on the motion of objects on an inclined plane, the acceleration of free-falling bodies, and the movement of a pendulum. Basically, he was a really cool dude.

Gally was one of the most knowledgeable and foundational people of the Glade, made clear by his position as a Keeper and his obvious love for stability. He wasn't afraid to share his opinion (much like Galileo) and consistently contributed important information and solutions to the Glade. Also, to be a Builder, you have to have at least a basic understanding of physics. Gally obviously understood basic physics concepts, because all of the buildings in the Glade are sturdy and standing. Similarly, math is very important to be a Builder, so as Keeper of the Builders, he obviously had an understanding of mathematics. Basically, Gally is smart. Like his namesake.

But the similarities don't end there. When Galileo tried to bring forth his evidence of the Copernician doctrine that the Earth revolves around the sun, he was labeled a heretic by the church and ex-communicated, and placed under house arrest for the rest of his life. Yeah, for stating his opinions, he was forced out of what should have been a safe place, ostracized, and had to die alone. Similar to Gally, don't you think? Sure, he shouldn't have antagonized Thomas without explaining why, but the truth still remains that he had trauma and Thomas was a trigger. He thought he was helping by pointing out Thomas's role in his memories, and then instead of at least listening, his friends of the past three years immediately sided with the boy they'd known for three days, ostracizing him from the only safe place and family he'd ever known. He was also left to die alone by these friends, much like Galileo.

Yeah, as much as I hate to say it, James Dashner knew what he was doing here, and Gally and Galileo both need to find better friends.

Okay but am I the only one happy hand flapping over Carlos's full name?? Like yeah he's Carlos the Scientist ofc ofc, fuck Dr. Lubelle for threatening his existence and all but AWWHH FULL NAME !!

I'd also like to pettily think that Dr. Lubelle was purposely using his unmarried surname Robles to push the narrative that Carlos is falling for Night Vale's "delusions" and he's not actually married bc Cecil doesn't actually exist or something bc she just Sucks That Much.

Carlos has actually taken Gershwin-Palmer as his married name but Carlos Gershwin-Palmer is a mouthful and doesn't quite roll off the tongue smoothly, hence why he just goes by Carlos the Scientist since a) it's easier and b) it's the endearing nickname Night Vale gave him when he first arrived and c) science is his whole thing, hell yeah he's down for his passion to be his title!!
