Forty Days of Frankenstein, Day Twenty-Six: There are several different schools of design when it comes to Frankenstein imagery.  This one definitely belongs to what I’ve heard called the “Gross Up Close Up,”  the roots of which go back to the works of artists Basil Wolverton (1909-1978) and Ed “Big Daddy” Roth (1932-2001).  This is box art for a toy, designed by Japanese manga artist Hideshi Hino and released in 2001.  Far from being the cool, elegant Silent Screamer Frankenstein action figure released by Mezco the same year, this thing is a more of a crazy doll, called “Franzen,” sculpted in soft vinyl, and released in three different variants.  Not really my cup of tea but by 2001 a very valid interpretation of the Frankenstein meme.  I will also say that the “metallic” variant is, by me, the coolest one.  As I’ve said before, I don’t really collect Frankenstein toys, but if I were 13 years old again, I would want one of these:

Sonic and the Secret Rings (replay)

My main reason for replaying was seeing Wayne dropping the game and after not playing it since I was kid (and finding out theres a way to mod the game to play it slightly more normally.) I decided it was time to replay my least favorite Sonic game. While the more normal controls helped the game still suffers from so many issues that it doesn't fully improve how I feel about playing it. I think going back to it I like a lot of stuff surrounding it cause its very goofy and charming in its own way. But I still don't like it lol. Pumpkin head

Joke that became a movie night. Was kinda boring. Lupin III: Walther P38 A cool special! Was just an overall good special that was a fun watch and looked nice. Massive step up from the last one. But knowing Lupin and the TV specials he can't keep up the quality forever. But I heard the next ones good as well so who knows.

I haven't played too much of Scumheads games but I'm a fan of their art and atmosphere for their titles. And Franzens no different. A cool short RPGmaker game with some really nice art. and neat story/lore. Shout out one of the party members being permanently named fucker when he fully joins your party.

Recent things: developing an intense interest in sandwiches, throwing myself in the pool at 6.30am every morning, collecting strawberries from the garden, reading in my car, making brekki at work, reading Jonathan Franzen's Freedom over the space of two weeks (still unfinished!), and hanging out with friends in bars and cafes more than my income technically allows.
