"Why should I respect a capricious, mean-minded, stupid God who creates a world that is so full of injustice and pain?"
-- Stephen Fry
"Because he'll send you to be tortured in a pit of fire for eternity if you don't" isn't the vindication you think it is.

I like bloodweave. Okay. But I DON'T like the version of them in fanfic where Astarion is a dick and Gale is like. Whining and pleading for him to be emotionally vulnerable (or just. Nice to him) prior to the relationship being established. Because that is just not accurate. Gale needs the player to express interest in him during his weave-teaching scene before he even considers hitting on them properly. Gale is entirely resigned to his fate and needs someone else to pull him away from it. Gale only starts being sweet and romantic and devoted after you accept his love confession and give him hope for the future. Gale says fuck all and then slinks away to cry privately if you break up with him.
Like he isn't chasing after people lmao. He isn't dropping to his knees and crying about anything much less this dickhead he met a week ago. He is overwhelmingly passive about literally everything personal to him up to and including his own death (provided there are no casualties/there is a good reason) until after the player expresses that they care about him. Astarion is not doing that in any of these fics.
Like Gale is friendly and a dork and doesn't wanna get murdered but he fully has a suicide plan. He thought the artefacts would help him survive but he didn't believe he'd ever truly live again. If Gale confessed and Astarion said/did like one (1) mean thing afterward Gale's romance is closed off forever. He's wandering into the forest to cry. He's killing himself immediately. His fragile ego and self worth can't take it. You have to understand that when we joke about him being pathetic it's not bc he's like. Sopping wet and chasing people down and begging for a scrap of attention. It's because he craves affection but would literally rather die than ask or even hope for it until someone else forces that hope back into his serotonin-deficient tadpole brain.

Spicynoodles with bad boy MK and Red getting flustered because, yes, he's bad. But MK is on a level and Red is into it.
HE IS SO CLOSE TO BITE HIM, I SWEAR--
This MK tells Red Son to sit and he rolls, plays, sits and gets up in a blink of an eye

jonas's relationships with both his parents fuck me up but for completely different reasons. like ofc we have the Most Tragic Father-Son Dynamic Of All Time w him and mikkel/michael. both are willing to sacrifice their own lives for the other yet they need to knowingly be the catalyst of the other's suffering (michael committing suicide + jonas taking mikkel through the caves) even though they so desperately don't want to. forced to perpetuate the cycle by destroying each other because of how much they love each other.
then there's jonas and hannah. they clearly care about each other, but they can't really talk to each other. almost every scene they have together in s1 there's this emotional distance between them. hannah is extremely distraught over jonas's disappearance and she's relieved when he comes back as the stranger, but it doesn't last because it's not her jonas, the one she remembers. and she's not the hannah that jonas remembers either, even if she hasn't aged much since he last saw her. despite being mother and son they don't really know each other (just like what hannah tells jonas in the candle scene. "maybe you never know that, what a person is really like.") she abandons him after he gives up on her, and when she finally comes back for him in 1911, he's even more unrecognizable...
and both of these end with jonas killing them, in one way or another

“The Devil is necessary to God's survival.
If he didn't exist, God would have to assume the responsibility for Evil.
I strongly doubt that he'd have any supporters after this.”

Isaiah 45:7
I am the Lord, and there is none else.
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.
The vile monster-god of Israel is responsible for all evil. “There is none else.”

since we know next to nothing abt the travelers’ previous lives,,,
if their little origin story was fabricated, and they were created by the unknown god,,
the same way scaramouche was created by raiden,,,,
,,,,,ykwim
also i wonder if scara’s wrists started glowing the way the travelers do after he got his vision.
he had them fully covered while he was an amnesiac, during that time he might have just been self-conscious in a way that he’d grown out of in his previous life, but once he got his memories back he still hid them… perhaps he’s gotten sick of explaining himself now that he lives in a reality where nobody knows he’s artificial,,, but i digress
in the scenario where the travelers’ entire backstory as alleged world-hopping explorers was fabricated, and in reality they were created by the unknown god…
the unknown god could also be where Raiden got her “creation method” from.
bc i reckon it’s a LOT harder to artificially make a sapient being with a fully fleshed-out personality than a human-resembling machine that just follows orders.
like. her first attempt could be a near-exact replica of the original “formula”, just with a few minor tweaks to make him resemble her.
could also be why, as her first prototype, Scaramouche was much shorter,,,,, he’s just closer to the travelers’ heights as the original copies…………….he’s travel-sized—
