Bad Batch is almost over so I'm going to ramble. If anyone can relate, please reply or reblog. Share what this show has meant to you, share your thoughts, share theories, tag people. Let's give it a send off.
Star Wars has been a massive part of my life for years.
I loved everything about the Clone Wars, the world building, the character development for the jedi, but most of all the clones. As someone who finds it hard to read faces, it was fun getting to know each of the clones as individuals with their own personalities and I actually never had any issues telling them apart. It hits hard, I think that's what makes their stories even more tragic.
Echo and Fives are my favourite Star Wars characters so I was really happy when Echo came back in Clone Wars season 7. That was why I decided to watch the Bad Batch- it then became my favourite series.
I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do when this show ends. I think the hardest part is not knowing what the galaxy has in store for the batch and where it could go from here. Whatever happens I’ll always be grateful for the experiences I've had as part of this community over the last few years.
I think that's what's great about being part of a fandom. Seeing all the different ideas and projects that get put out there every day as well as knowing everyone else is in just as much suspense as I am. I haven't interacted on here that much until the last few months, but I check the tags a lot and all the fanart has been immaculate. The writers and artists are crazy talented and work so hard, I admire the level of dedication and aspire to be like that. 😂
I'm also really grateful for the three seasons we got with Clone Force 99.
Seeing Echo go from a shiny in the Clone Wars to becoming who he is now. (I could talk about that for ages, but I'll save that for another post.)
Seeing Crosshair regain his trust in the batch and get to change.
Seeing Hunter step up for his brothers and Omega.
Seeing more sides to Wrecker's strength.
Seeing Omega go from that kid who'd never seen dirt before to learning from her brothers and proving how brave she is.
And lastly, seeing Tech make the choice he did back in season 2. It wasn't easy to watch, because he deserved more time and there was definitely a massive hole in season 3 without him.
I'm not ready to say goodbye to any of them.
My favourite episodes in season 1 were the last few, when Kamino fell. It was the end of an era as well as a new beginning.
My favourite episode in season 2 was episode 8. I was really proud of Echo, plus he got a hug from Omega which I have admittedly rewatched far too many times.
My favourite episodes in season 3 were episodes 13 and 14. The stakes have been so high and it's been great seeing Echo's ARC skills in action again. (Plus the dialogue with Rampart was top tier. Hate that guy, but it was hilarious.)
I'm well aware of all the theories for the finale. I'm choosing to ignore most of them, but I’d like to present my own.
I hope Echo gets to finish what Fives started and the clones can finally be free, including Tech if he's CX2. I hope the batch gets to burn Tantiss to the ground and fly off into the sunset with Omega and the kids from the vault, and then I hope they continue a lifetime of bullying Rampart. I also hope Emerie gets to whack Hemlock with a steel chair, and then the Zillo beast can eat him.
…After all, Star Wars is based on hope, right?
If anyone actually ended up reading this to the end you're a real one- have a great final Bad Batch eve, and may the force be with you.

TRSB 2023 Gallery Opening
& 2024 Schedule Premiere
It’s almost time for TRSB 2024! Sign ups for artists for TRSB 2024 open in a month. The full schedule for 2024 can be found here.
To start getting excited for this year’s event, please enjoy the opening of the TRSB 2023 Gallery (and the completion of the TRSB 2022 Gallery!) Many thanks to @usuallysublimepenguin for doing the lion’s share of the work to get both galleries ready and online and to @fishing4stars for supporting that effort!
Before the suggestions form opens on March 24th, we want to invite veteran participants to share their wisdom about the event. If you were speaking to someone curious about participating in TRSB for the first time, what would your advice be on picking what to draw? Or, as an author, what do you look for in a prompt?
The mods have given their own answers under the cut. We can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
~TRSB Mods 2024
Mods answer the question:
Fishing4Stars (roles: artist, writer): As a writer I look for prompts that either give me a clear inspiration that I think matches the artist’s idea - or that leave me enough flexibility to write something I find inspiring. Either works! I do get inspired by my favorite characters, but the underlying idea can be a great source as well. I had a blast writing a story focused on Thorin last year even though he’s not a character I normally write for because the underlying prompt, about being an outcast and having a complex identity, inspired me. I loved working closely with the artist on this - I will probably make my ‘involvement level’ preference this year more specific, because I’d love to do that again.
I think my biggest takeaways as an artist after participating last year were:
(1) Be a little selfish when picking prompts: As an artist, I’m responsible for supporting my writers and their works - whether cheerleading, brainstorming, beta reading, or hands off, my writer deserves for me to be excited to read their work in September and give them comments. So it’s to both our benefit for me to pick something I like and want to read. Last year I picked a prompt off the suggestions list that I normally wouldn’t have. It actually turned out really well and I had tons of fun reading it, but it did make me think about maybe giving slightly more personalized prompts this year.
(2) Leaving room for collaboration can be fun: Both of the works I submitted last year were in mostly finished form. The bit of collaboration I got to do to adjust the work to the writer’s story was really fun, though. So this year I’m thinking about leaving some room for the writer to weigh in on the art.
Usuallysublimepenguin (role: artist): I’ve participated as an artist for a few years now and can warmly recommend joining, as it’s been such a joy every time.
Regarding the prompt list, I can certainly echo Fishing4Stars: draw something that you like! The list is great for sparking ideas, but be careful of picking the very specific ones; they might be something the prompter would want to read but not necessarily write. So, if it’s not something you want to draw, do not pick it. Use the list for inspiration, or if the list is too dauntingly large, go for something completely different from your own head.
My prompts have gone from quite detailed "Lothiriel, a new bride getting to know Éomer" to very open "here's one or two characters in a pose I wanted to draw; please fill in the blanks" or "Here's a landscape; please fill in the details." Keep in mind that the open prompts require quite high levels of collaboration, and that the stories might take you to new places you never even thought existed - but for me that works very well. Every single story that came from these prompts are dear to me.
Ettelenë (roles: writer, sometimes artist). Since I am mainly a writer who sometimes draws, I tend to pick prompts that suit the characters or stories I want to tell. The first time I participated as a writer, it was with a prompt/character I never thought I would write about (mermaid Voronwë!), and, surprisingly, it was not the most challenging time. So, to start, writing or drawing something completely out of our comfort zones can actually draw people in. Nowadays, though, as I don't have much time to write a fully complex story with worldbuilding etc, I’ll go for the prompts that I am 100% sure I can bang 5k in the blink of an eye. As for drawings, I usually stick with what I do best, which is watercolor. And curiously enough, the two times I did art for TRSB, it was about the Valar, characters I mostly never write about, but who always spark my artistic creativity.
Raiyana (roles: writer): I have a tendency to fall in love with a piece or an idea and fall HARD… so far, happily, the artists have been pleased to have me write for them ;) And then I find that weird secondary prompt in the gallery, generally during second claims, that tickles Something. I usually filter out characters/ideas I definitely can’t do and then something or someone (often a co mod, actually) will challenge me to come up with a way to do a prompt and spark another fire of creativity ;).
I never thought I’d be able to write a streamer script version of FoG, but here we are…
Lathalea (roles: writer, artist): When I joined TRSB for the first time, as a writer, I definitely felt overwhelmed with the size of the event and the amount of prompts, and then art pieces. It wasn’t easy to pick just one, so many of them screamed “pick me!”. I managed to narrow them down and mull over them for some time. I asked myself what ideas and parts of the Tolkien legendarium spoke to me the most, what “blank areas” of Middle Earth I would like to fill with my works, and how I wanted to do this. What I learned back then is that it worked for me best to focus on a very particular and narrow theme so that I could delve into proper worldbuilding – which is something I live for when it comes to Dwarves and their culture.
Finally, I chose the one that sparked the most creativity in me that year. I feel that for writers who decide to work on a specific art piece, prompts can be a great help, making you enrich your story or add a detail or two that you wouldn’t have thought of otherwise. As a bonus, you get at least one very happy reader: the author of that specific prompt!
One year later, I decided to submit art for TRSB because I liked the prompts so much – I just had to create a piece of visual art inspired by them. It resulted in a great cooperation that explored a completely new subject that I always wanted to focus on but never had a chance to do properly before.
Feel free to surprise yourself and pick prompts or ideas you haven’t worked on before, you never know what way your creativity will go!
Legolasbadass (roles: writer, artist): There are always too many great artworks, so I usually make a list of pieces I’d be most interested in writing for to help narrow down my choices. I look for ideas and characters I am most inspired by and comfortable writing about — though it can also be fun to step out of your comfort zone and try something new! Another really important thing for me is the collaboration level. I really enjoy brainstorming with the artist, sharing my progress with them, and getting regular feedback, so I tend to avoid choosing artists who prefer a less collaborative experience.
When looking for inspiration for art, I usually look at the answers to the suggestions form as well as my personal list of prompts and pick an idea that I’d be most excited to share with someone. The collaborative aspect of the event is what excites and inspires me the most, so I tend not to submit an idea I feel too possessive of. I like working closely with an author and letting their vision inspire my art as much as my art will inspire their story.

Oscar Issac/Pedro Pascal Fan Art and Fiction Pride Event 2024
Hello friends!
Let's try this again and I'll try to be more clear to not invoke discourse. That being said, it is *my* event and if you'd like to run one a certain way, go nuts. However, this is how I'm doing it.
I had a lot of fun doing Dead Dove December and the Triple Frontier Anniversary Event so I decided I wanted to do an event for pride this year! I know it seems far away right now, especially given how many of us in north America are still cold af, but I wanna give everyone time!
Each week of pride will have a theme to write or draw for (you don't have to do all of them! Think of it like kinktober.) at the end, I will put out a masterlist (or multiple depending how many)so we can all share each other's work.
Why?
Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal are both allies to LGBT people, Pedro having played multiple queer rolls and having likened his sexuality to that of Prince Oberyn. Despite none of the characters being canon queer, Triple Frontier specifically lends itself to queer stories. Recently, theres been a rise in stories of Oscar characters in relationships or Pedro characters in relationships which I love.
What I'd really like to do is encourage people to think past x fem!reader or canon presentation of characters. I want to encourage gay, lesbian, bisexual relationships, trans readers, trans interpretations of characters etc. More content guidelines will be in the what section.
Where?
Primarily tumblr.com, our very own shithole hellsight. However, especially given tumblr's censorship vs. twitter, I am encouraging posting on twitter or wherever you'd like. If you post something elsewhere, send me a link or send me a post you made about it on tumblr and I'll promote the link.
Additionally if you only write on ao3, I'd love for you to participate too! Once again, just send the link!
When?
in order to do the week by week themes and hold all of June, there will be 6 weeks from May 26th-July 6th
Each week will have themes. I won't be policing the weeks and these so if you do the 1st week on july 3rd, that's fine. The themes are keeping in mind both artists and writers. I only got one artist for DDD, a great piece and I've love to see more! Ideas are just for spit balling, do your own take!
May 26th-June 1st: Coming out. Ideas: Coming out to family, lover, friend. Finding gender affirming clothes/hair, first pride
June 2nd-8th: Transitioning Ideas: Surgary, surgery scars, starting T or E, binding (safely!!!)
June 9th-15th: Sex/kissing First time together, first time with certain biology or the same sex, sweet kisses, smut showing scars,
June 16th-22nd: Food, fashion, fun
All things queer culture and culture of different religions, racial or country backgrounds, queer fashion, gender affirming clothes, Keshet (קשת), listening to Lady Gaga or Bruce Springsteen, watching a queer movie
June 23rd-29th: Struggles Rejection, reconciling faith and identity, missing family that rejected one, comfort, candlelight vigil, day of remembrance.
June 30th- July 6th:Strength Asserting ones or a partner/friend/family's pronouns, standing up against hate, being loudly and proudly yourself, pride events
Who?
Writers and artists in any form are welcome. I also want to encourage working with each other, writers and artists together!
For characters: Any Oscar Isaac or Pedro Pascal character has to at least be in the relationship. Other characters in universes can be done, such as FishBen.
Reader can be anyone, just properly tag! If you want to come out to Marc Spector as bisexual, do it!!! If you want Joel to take care of you after top surgery, do it!
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE QUEER TO PARTICIPATE!
However! Please do your research if writing or drawing an identity not yours. There are trans, nonbinary, gay, lebian etc bloggers all over tumblr who write about their experience, please divert to first person testimonies rather than assumptions.
What?
A few rules
MUST contain more than male character x fem!reader. Male character x fem!reader x male character does not count unless the two male characters are romantically or sexually involved or one or the reader is trans. Any Q's, dm me!
This is not a dark event. I'm not going to be policing the content matter but I really want to primarily focus on the pride. However, as a bisexual, gender non-conforming person I know a lot of pain can still be involved. What we are not doing is suicide, death, self-harm, or non consensual activity. If you have questions or would like to make a case for something, just dm me!
This is not inherently NSFW, but there is absolutely NSFW allowed. Always tag everything properly.
The usual no's like bestiality, incest, underage nsfw etc
As far as minor characters, SFW MINOR CHARACTERS IS ALLOWED. You can write or draw lgbt themes because being LGBT is not inherently sexual. For example, teenage Santi coming out as trans to Frankie or your own version of Ellie and Joel's talk about Ellie and Dina kiss. That being said, I'd prefer to reserve this to teens. Again, any questions or ideas that don' quite fit into parameters, just ask!
As always, I am allowed to use my discretion. If I do not want to include something, I won't. However, I know that there are rifts in the fandom. I won't be excluding you out of personal bias. As long as I don't have you blocked and you haven't plagerized or done something really bad to people, you'll be included. I'm not letting petty beefs get in the way. Harmful actions will, however. I need to protect my peace and keep
NO REAL PERSON FANFICTION. Do not write about Oscar Isaac or Pedro pascal being gay or trans and do not make any assumptions about their sexuality or gender identity. Oscar is happily married to a woman and Pedro has expressed his sexuality is like that of Oberyn Martell but has not elaborated much further, nor should he have to. Just leave ‘em be. You can speculate elsewhere but that’s not what this event is for.
How?
Simply tag me, @romanarose and use the #OscarPedroPrideEvent2024 please please please use BOTH so it's easier for me to find!!!
When the event is over, much like DDD I will compiled them into a masterlist and posted. This is a chance for every blog, big and small, to get a moment in the sun and to share each others works! Remember, reblogging, comments, and interacting is what makes this a community! I want to create an environment that is welcoming and we all help each other.
Please feel free to reach out to me for any questions or clarification!
However, if you go issues with me writing men kissing, chracters being trans, queer readers etc, I'm not really open to debate.
~A nonbinary bisexual <3

[visual content blog recommendations]
we see fic recs all the time, but i don’t think i’ve ever seen rec lists for visual content (gif/art/gfx/etc.) creators! they’ve been dealing with a bunch of shit lately between reposts, tumblr garbage, etc., so i wanna shout-out some favorites. thank you for keeping us fed!!
disclaimer: this is not an exhaustive list!! if you have recommendations of your own, please feel free to expand on this yourself and/or drop some of your faves in the replies for others to see. self-promo is always welcome here, too ✨ p.s. some of these are recent finds for me, so pls expect to see more of them on my blog. eta: i will be adding more as i go!!
[bts]
@yooboobies — réka’s gif sets are *chef’s kiss* and the ART? omg. the talent!!! 😭 we simply have to simp.
@cordiallyfuturedwight — apart from being one of the coolest/funniest people i’ve found on army tumblr, i am a kayla stan because the niche themes for her gif sets (ex. bangtan turtlenecks series) feel like they’re made 👏🏻 for 👏🏻 me 👏🏻 even though they absolutely aren’t, lmao.
@hopeinthebox — the bts as reductress headline + incorrect bangtan series are probably my favorite pieces of content on the entire internet??? also, lizzy is absolutely gd hilarious. tags are 11/10. a blessing upon my dash.
@kimtaegis — i’m not visually artistic enough to say this in a way that makes sense, but annie’s gifs are just… stunning? like, the colors? idk about the process that goes into that, but i imagine it takes a lot of time/finesse to be this vivid.
@kithtaehyung — ryen is the renaissance man of army tumblr, fr. not only can she write (like!!!) but she’s multi-faceted and insanely creative with her graphic design. i want her to tutor me, lmao.
@raplinenthusiasts — ooohhhhh my god. the coloring of their gifs makes my brain go brrrrtttt. this bts x the office set is on my “always reblog” list; i’ll share it every time i come across it.
@heybaetae — this set in particular is on my “always reblog” list, no matter how many times i’ve done so already. also, idk how to describe this, but kelli’s gifs are just…. crispy 🤌🏻 like, so satisfying with the…. texture? filtering? contrast? i’m an idiot re: editing terms, but go peep them and you’ll know what i’m trying to say.
@kth1 — literally who could ever forget maggie’s 100 days of (member) series??? the amount of work that had to go into that? unfathomable.
@jeurias — i want to wallpaper my house and office with their gfx. i’m deadass.
@jinstronaut — emmeline has been doing her “a jin a day while he’s away” series for OVER 250 DAYS NOW. i have never been nor will i ever be able to commit to anything to this level.
[multi/skz/atz/svt/etc.]
@starryoong — do not get me started on starry’s paintings, sketches, etc. because i will never shut up. ever. j’adore 🫠 is also a five-star human being.
@irlvernon — my queue is probably 80% max gifs at any given time. god-tier, fr. a must-follow for carats, as far as i’m concerned.
@vcrnons — incredible gifs, lovely human, and also the writer of some of my favorite svt fics??? we stan.
@yelhsaart — i don’t have any words for how much i love their art so please imagine guttural screaming instead. asdfghjkl!!!
@hizuillu — ……breathtaking. legitimately stunning skz art. like…… i have heart palpitations.
@snug-gyu — THE USE OF COLORS. i’m always a simp for pantone-inspired sets; they just scratch an itch in the back of my brain, and BOY HOWDY, is my brain satisfied 😵‍💫
@yunwooz — again, i have no idea what i’m talking about when it comes to the gif-making process, but the colors!!! the COLORS!!! like, taking a mv that’s not super vivid/is fairly greyscale and bringing it to life? ya know????
@booskwan — you want incredible gifs? they’ve got em. you want stunning gfx? they’ve got em. seriously, idk what to tell you except “pause right here and go follow immediately”.
@haechannabelle — listen……. annabelle’s art style is 😗🤌🏻 (that’s a chef’s kiss). the use of color, and the technique, and and and — ! ALSO, i must mention that she took, like, 50 hours to compile a boycott-friendly k-pop playlist. their vibes are simply impeccable.

tell me how do you think lexa was in all the unseen scenes, like did lexa get caught one to many times glancing at clarke and thats why Titus got so mad at her or how she watched clarkes rear end while she was walking away to keep those memories for something later 😉 did she make a mental note of all the things that she did that made her smile.like plz i need to know how did we not get more lexa with all the small beautiful things she does. .. come on we had so many days that led up to every scene and we missed all of them..
Oh god, there are many moments I would’ve loved to see the preamble to. Foremost, I’m so curious how they wound up sharing quiet time together in Lexa’s bedchamber, Clarke drawing Lexa after she fell asleep while reading. Understandably, things are skipped for brevity and due to time constraints on screen, but how did that situation even come about?
Then there’s other stuff that was completely omitted. For instance, I wanted Clarke to catch a glimpse of Lexa training, working up a sweat while knocking lumps out of beefy warriors. Were there Ascension Day festivities that they would’ve had to attend, catching each others’ gaze across a crowded banquet and holding that eye contact for a little too long amongst company? And did Clarke pick out that nightgown for herself or was it a gift from Heda’s private collection? Enquiring minds need to know!
As well as things Clarke did to raise a private smile, I’m sure there were plenty of ways Clarke exasperated Lexa that we didn’t witness. Imagine Lexa cataloguing all the times Clarke “I do what I want and screw your traditions” Griffin made her prematurely age.
They gave us crumbs, really. But on the plus side, it allows fic writers and artists to fill in the blanks so for that I’m grateful.

I don't know if this is just me, but I think another thing that people are missing when writers talk about "oh please leave comments and kudos on our work" is that, at least for me, I view my work like I want it to be a conversation.
I am not a novelist. Despite wanting to break into original fiction down the line, posting a work chapter-by-chapter online is VASTLY different than publishing it in print. What I do in fandom I do for free, and I do it because I want to share something I love with my community. I have so many thoughts about blorbo. I have so many thoughts about blorbo, in fact, that I spend multiple hours a day writing them all out in an artistic format for you to enjoy. Then I post them online because I want you to enjoy those thoughts about blorbo too.
It's kind of like. I don't know. It's an invitation to come into my dm's and start talking blorbo. It's an invitation to come into my comments section and start talking blorbo. I just happened to have a really, really, insanely long-winded way to say "hey! here are some thoughts I'm having about blorbo from our shows :) what do you think about blorbo from our shows?"
I'm not socially adept. It is not a skill that comes naturally to me. I am some varying and partially-diagnosed cocktail of neurodivergent, and it means that I don't communicate the same way others do. But I want to communicate with others very, very badly. So instead of just approaching people and starting a conversation, I write 10,000 words about blorbo, post them online, and hope people will come to me. Then people do, and so I write another 10,000 for the next chapter, and the cycle repeats.
Every time I update, it's an invitation to talk. It's an invitation to pass around questions, thoughts, and concerns about blorbo from our shows. So I think when writers and artists ask for comments and reblogs, sometimes they're not just asking for attention, although wanting attention is not bad and the fear of yelling out into the uncaring void is very real. But I think what they're also asking for is community. Posting your fic online is just a very, very roundabout conversation prompt.
So please! Comment on peoples' stuff! If you really like someone's work they'd probably love to hear your thoughts!! I do what I do for community. The people I've built the strongest relationships with are the ones I saw again and again in my works on AO3 and it's the way I first started talking to them. Then we got comfortable enough to just send each other posts about blorbo, talk about other things, etc etc etc. It went the other way too! I started commenting on people's stuff, they started commenting on mine. Then we started just sending each other memes.
At the end of the day, fandom is a way to make friends. So go out there and befriend your local fandom writer today!

For a person who said that everybody should publish their wip's more and not be afraid to post works even if they think they're far from perfect I seem to be too caught up in my mind about 'not having anything worth to post'. And it's bullshit. I have and I will
Here's a part one of my 'sketches I did in a span of roughly a month' featuring the Encanto oc's both mine and not mine! :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1-2: Miss Esme created by @emi-g 3: Leandra created by @foggyfanfic 4: Angela created by @overly-dramatic-artist 5: Razili created by @impossiblefangirl0632 and @optimistic-violinist 6: Efi created by @sassmasterintraining 7: Aya created by @aeshnalacrymosa
All wonderful creators, many of them artists AND writers at the same time!! Can you believe that!? You guys are very special and I love you and your oc's very very much
Putting the rest under cut, because I have quite a few more sketches to share!
So, here, we have a section where I was figuring out how to draw Leandra ';D I still am, somehow I can't seem to 'get' her features but I hope I will eventually!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last picture features my two oc's: Dioselina and Daniela. Dioselina is the one challenging Leandra to an arm wrestling match and Daniela is at the back with Augustín both rooting for their respective friends :)
A quick jump to look at some things I did inspired by @foggyfanfic's fanfic Mirabel's Super Secret Adventure (I am insane at this point honestly, I wish I would draw more sketches inspired by this work but here we are, 'this is all I got' T_T) Putting a link to the first chapter just in case you would want to read this masterpiece. And a link to the main story where Leandra comes from. You know. Just in case
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First picture is like a sneak pic for an, I hope finished, piece with the Bruno x Leandra family!
And here we are, look at this! We are here to look at my oc's again! Look at them having fun time! LOOK AT THEM-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bonus! Me, playing with other people's and my oc's like dolls in my mind
Tumblr media
So! Hope this maybe helps someone? At least me. To not be afraid
Cause being afraid sucks
Anyways thank you for your attention and I would really appreciate a reblog or a comment about which sketch you liked more than the others and why!

Okay, okay, our lovely writer, what do you think about Viktor and an artist s/o who adores him and shows it through sneakily creating a life-size scuplture of him for the Undercity to remind them they have someone looking out for them, even if in Piltover?
I kind of meshed painting and sculpting because I....don't really know how sculpting works. I might doodle a shitty picture of this at some point though.
Requests are open my loves (both SFW/MSFW)
---
Viktor x Reader
-Viktor doesn’t realize at first where you’ve been sneaking off to. He knows you’re going somewhere, and every time he catches you, you say it’s ‘to work on art’. He’s a bit confused as to why you won’t just show him what you’re working on - you’ve shown him all your other works in progress.
-What’s so different about this one?
-Many things, apparently. For starters, you’re not working in your usual studio, surrounded by bright natural light and with access to every imaginable medium. He comes by to visit on one of his rare free afternoons, only to run into one of your artist friends, who informs him that she hasn’t seen you in a couple of days.
-Informs him that you packed up a bunch of paints into a backpack, and took off in the direction of the undercity.
-He starts worrying the moment he realizes where you are. He knows that not everything about his home is bad - knows that there are a lot of good people, who are smart and thoughtful and kind. People who wouldn’t bat an eyelash at you, and would leave you be to do whatever it is you’re doing.
-It’s the less than savory characters he’s stressed about. The select few who would take advantage of you, if the opportunity arose. The few who were beyond desperate, looking for an easy way to put a couple cents in their pocket.
-He doesn’t even know what part of the undercity you’re in, and he knows there’s no sense in looking. If he were to ask around, it would only draw more attention to you, and that’s the last thing he wants.
-All he hopes for is that you’ll go undetected long enough to come home to him, where he can hopefully talk some sense into you.
-You do end up coming home, late into the evening, smelling of pollution and paint fumes, covered in smacks of colour from head to toe.
-You’re obviously startled when you stumble across him on the way to the bathroom, seated comfortable in your little shared lounge, reading one of the books you’d suggested to him. You freeze in the doorway, like a deer in headlights, as he glances up at you.
-You know you’ve been caught.
-You know he’s displeased.
- “I know what this looks like-” you begin, but he’s quick to hold a hand up to shush you. You bite the inside of your cheek, indignantly setting your hands on your hips.
- “You’ve been going to the undercity,” he states, bluntly. “You’ve been going to the undercity, unaccompanied, and without telling anyone. Despite the warnings I’ve given you about how unsafe it is there - especially for someone like you!”
-You want to argue with him, to push back against his nagging, even though you know he’s got a point. You know that you’re an easy target. Even with your old, paint-covered clothes on, you’re too pristine, too done up, to have come from anywhere other than Piltover.
- “I had a good reason,” you grumble, tactfully avoiding his gaze. “It was supposed to be a surprise, a whole thing, but…”
-You sigh, your posture suddenly relaxing and all the fight in you dissipating. Frustrated as he may be, you know that Viktor only wants you to be safe, no matter where you go. You know that if something were to happen to you - something you could have prevented, no less…it would ruin him.
-Tentatively, you hold your hand out to him, still covered in dried pigments. He eyes you warily, his gaze flicking up to your face.
- “I’ll show you what I’ve been working on,” you clarify, wiggling your fingers. “It’s mostly done, anyways. And better viewed at night. Now come on.”
-He takes your hand.
-An hour later, the two of you are carefully skulking through various alleyways, avoiding pipes and puddles and a multitude of leaks, glowing liquids of questionable origin and little heaps of junk. Even one or two people, most of whom pay you no mind.
-You practically vibrating with excitement, the closer you seem to get to…wherever it is you’re bringing him. Your fingers knit through his, carefully tugging him along in the dark, making sure neither of you trip and fall face first into the walkway.
-He’s just about to ask you if you’re nearing your destination, when suddenly, you stop. So abruptly that he nearly collides with your back, despite his casual pace. He frowns down at you for a second, before his eyes adjust a little more to the lack of light, and he’s able to follow your gaze.
-Able to see what you’re looking at.
-The walls, mostly, are what catches his attention first. Barely glowing where they start, almost seeming to appear out of thin air. They sweep and ooze forward on the flat surface, brightening as they grow thicker and thicker as they twist closer to their destination.
-He recognizes the painting style, of course - it’s yours. Your distinct line techniques, combined with the rough texture of your brush style. He’s able to pick out a couple of different mediums you’ve used, to bend and burst and haze the colours in such a way that makes it look like the tendrils you’ve created are alive.
-Curling around each other like wires, yet pulsing with light almost like they’re breathing.
-You tug on his hand again, pulling him further down the alleyway, moving slower than before as to allow him to watch your art twist and curve around the architecture it’s painted on.
-Until finally, you come to a clearing. Just as unkempt as the area you’d been, it’s an intersection of six different walkways, a jagged circle, about twenty feet in diameter. He glances around, his eyes following the tendrils down the walls and across the ground - all heading inwards from each different path.
-Until they convene in the center.
-Where stands a metal statue, abstract in nature yet welded and twisted so perfectly. Painted with love and attention, in much the same style as the glow that led you both here, only this time it’s so bright it’s nearly blinding.
-You’ve left out his features, leaving the shape up to interpretation and curiosity, but he knows. He can tell in the way you’ve shaped it, and in the way the metal man so carefully holds his creation.
-It’s him, and the hexcore.
-It’s vague, but he knows.
- “You…made this?” he asks, so softly that you can barely hear him. He takes a few steps closer, trailing his eyes over every curve and detail of the sculpture.
- “I did,” you say, quite pleased with yourself. “I thought the undercity would do well to remember someone who’s out there, working his ass off to make things better: searching for answers and looking for ways to find peace.”
-You move towards him, linking your arms together as you come to stand by his side.
- “I know it’s not much,” you sigh. “I know that…my art probably won’t change anything. I know that a lot of people won’t know the significance of the piece, and won’t see the detail and the love that’s gone into it. But…it can offer them a little slice of light in this dark place, if nothing else. It can be a place where they don’t have to worry about the shadows that follow them. I hope.”
-He carefully hooks his cane into the crook of his elbow, and reaches up to cup your jaw, his thumb slowly tracing over the curve of your cheek, regarding you with the utmost admiration and fondness.
- “Thank you,” he murmurs, quiet enough that only you can hear. “You say your art won’t change anything, but it has. You have. You’ve made the world a little bit brighter, because of this.”
-His lips meet yours in tender expression, warm and gentle and familiar.
-You’ve made his world brighter.

when he sees me
Tumblr media
summary: you have always been scared of the idea of marriage, but that all changes when you meet benedict
warnings/tags: fem!reader, brief mentions of abuse (nothing happens to reader i promise!!)
Tumblr media
You have heard many stories of the horrors of marriage, how husbands would control their wives, while they have the freedoms to cheat on them with mistresses, and some go as far as to beat their wives. You never had the best model of marriage growing up, your parents were always fighting and were never affectionate, only ever being close in the public eye to maintain their image.
You grew up to believe true love wasn’t real, it was just something written in romance novels, and after hearing of your friend's cruel marriages, you were convinced love doesn’t exist.
You swore to yourself you would never get married, not wanting to live an unhappy life under someone’s authority and having the limited freedom you had as a woman taken away from you. But your life took a turn when you met Benedict.
You first met Benedict at a ball. You had successfully avoided any man that wanted to dance with you that night, and you were trying to blend into the walls, until you bumped into the brunet, causing the drink in your hand to spill all over your dress. His face morphed into shock and he apologized profusely. He tried to find something to help clean your dress, but you just giggled at his actions and insisted you were fine.
You and Benedict spent the rest of the evening outside in the fresh air, away from the stuffy, overcrowded ballroom. You two slipped into conversation easily, bonding over how much you hated social events and how you would much rather be doing what you love. You mentioned how you wish you could be writing at this moment, and he looked at you with intrigue.
“So you are a writer?” He asked.
“Well, it’s just something I do to pass the time, although I am very passionate about it. I will admit, I am not the best at it though.” You explained. “And what about you, Lord Bridgerton? What would you rather be doing than to be stuck here?”
“Sketching, or even painting.” He sighed, remembering his latest piece he was working on.
“So you are an artist then?” You have never heard of any Bridgerton being interested in art. It fascinated you.
“Yes, but much like yourself, I do not think of myself as any good.”
“Oh, I must see one of your sketches.” Your curiosity got the better of you, surely he can’t be as bad as he claimed to be.
“Only if I get to read what you have written. I am sure you humble yourself and that you are a skilled writer.”
“How can you be so confident in my skills when we hardly know each other?” You asked and he shrugged.
“Just a feeling.” Benedict sent you a warm smile, making you smile back at him. Your conversation continued until the ball ended, and a part of you was disappointed you had to leave him, wishing you could continue to talk with him until the sun rose.
After that night you and Benedict have become very close friends. As promised, you exchange one of your poems for a sketch of his. You admired it all day, impressed by his natural skill. The next time you saw him you told him how beautiful his art was and how it captivated you. He returned the compliment, saying how you have a gift of evoking strong emotions with just the written words. You could’ve sworn you blushed, but you brushed it off as someone complimenting your work for the first time and nothing more.
You two became inseparable. It was common to see you two together almost everywhere, your arms linked together, laughing at his jokes. For the first time in years, you have shared not only one dance but multiple dances, with Benedict. You never enjoyed dancing, especially when the men you’ve danced with before have talked too much and never let you state your opinion. But Benedict was different, he listened to everything you said and let you speak your mind freely. It was refreshing, and you wished all men could be like him.
You started to enjoy the social events more, feeling excited as one approached. You found yourself putting more effort into how you looked, and you mentally slapped yourself for it. You knew you were doing it for Benedict, and you told yourself you couldn’t fall for him, you refused to.
The next day, Benedict surprised you, visiting your house with flowers in hand and asking to court you. You were shocked but quickly gained your composure.
“I truly am sorry, Benedict. It seems I have led you on somehow. I have no interest in marriage.” You revealed and watched Benedict’s face fall, which broke your heart. He excused himself and you watched him leave, a feeling of regret sat inside you.
Your mother and father scolded you over how you could let such a perfect man get away, but you paid no heed to their words. You wished things were different, but you couldn’t court Benedict. It could lead to marriage, a concept you will always despise.
When you two met again, Benedict told you to forget about all the events that transpired. He told you he would like to remain your friend if you would allow it. You were relieved to hear that. You were certain he would distance himself from you after rejecting him, and you weren’t sure how you could live a life without him. Of course, he didn’t make his feelings forgotten. He would subtly drop hints to remind you of his interest in you and you reminded him of your disinterest in marriage.
You admitted to yourself it felt nice that he tries so hard to get you to change your mind. You never had a man interested in you like this before. If you were to reject any other man, he would have moved on to another lady, but not Benedict. You could tell he was determined to show you he was the one for you and it pained you to not accept him.
One day, you two were walking in the park. You wanted to feed the ducks and Benedict insisted on keeping you company. Currently, you were standing on the bridge, wanting to enjoy the view for a few moments. There was a comfortable quietness until Benedict spoke.
“You have denied my hand in marriage and make it clear you have to intention to marry, but may I ask why? You do not have to tell me if you do not wish to, but I do wish to know if it is something that I have done. Have I made you uncomfortable in any sort of way?”
You shook your head and said. “My refusal had nothing to do with you, my lord. You have been very sweet and kind to me. But you do deserve to know why I rejected you.”
He looked at you, ready to listen to every word you said. You explained, “All my life, I have been surrounded by unhappy marriages. My parents may seem like they care deeply for each other, but it is all an act. I have grown up in a household where my parents would scream at each other, and refuse to be near each other. I always believed love does not exist in the real world. Then all my friends got married, and it is horrible. They tell me how their husbands control them and how they have no say in what they do in their own life. Some of them even go as far as to bash their wives. I thought it was the most absurd thing. People are supposed to protect the ones they love, not harm them.
“I swore I would never get married. I am content living the life of a spinster. The only reason I participate in the season is because my parents force me to. I would rather keep whatever freedoms I have than be trapped in a miserable life.”
You looked out to the view, not wanting to see the look on Benedict’s face, and he sighed. “I am a fool. I could not show you just how much you truly mean to me.” He took your hands into his own, forcing you to focus on him. “Y/N, I-I love you. I love how passionate you are, how you don’t worry about how others may view you, and how kindhearted you are. I could never imagine stopping you from doing what your heart desires. I would rather die a thousand, painful deaths than ever hurt you. I love you.”
“I’m sorry, Benedict. I can’t.” You could see Benedict’s heart drop and you couldn’t stand being the cause of it. Overwhelmed with emotions, you tried to excuse yourself, pulling your hand out of his. “I have to go.” You ran away and didn’t look back.
You haven’t seen Benedict in days, which was the longest time you have gone without seeing him ever since you first met him. You kept replaying your last conversation in your head and how you wish you had the courage to tell him how you truly felt. Your mind kept reminding you of your vow but you could tell your heart was trying to tell you something else, so for once, you listened to it.
You knew deep down how you felt about Benedict. You loved him too. He was different than any other man you have met. He made you feel safe and happy. You could imagine a life with him, getting married and having children together. You knew what you had to do.
You showed up at his house with a single orchid in hand. You saw him sitting outside painting and you were relieved his family was nowhere near, wanting to see him in private. You walked up to him and he didn’t acknowledge your presence, which hurt a bit, but you did not let it affect you.
“May I sit?” He nodded, not looking away from his painting, and you sat next to him.
There was silence for a few minutes, before he asked, “What is the flower for?”
“It is for you.” You smiled, holding it out.
Benedict furrowed his eyebrows and finally looked at you, taking the flower from you. “For me?”
“I wish to court you.” He grew more confused and you clarified, “I realize it is not traditional, but everything else we have done is unusual, like falling in love before we have courted.”
“You mean-“
You nodded before he could say anything else. “I love you, Benedict. I have been denying my feelings for too long, living in fear of what I thought all marriages are, a loveless trap. But you showed me that I was wrong. You never made me feel inferior to you, you listened to me and showed me you care about me. I know I would never feel miserable with you, not when I feel like I can be my true self around you. I love you.”
Benedict didn’t say anything at first, which made you nervous that he would reject you. You knew it was a possibility with the way you rejected him first and ran away from him when he confessed his love. But before you could get up to leave, he pulled you in for a kiss. You quickly melted into it, but before it could go any further, he pulled away and said, “Yes, I will accept your courtship.”
You giggled and kissed him again. You felt fireworks erupt inside you and you knew this is what true love felt like.

minho was someone you admired dearly. he was so pretty, he is so perfect and you couldn’t help but allow your eyes to wander his features on a daily basis. his structure, his body type, his smile, his emotions, all of it was engraved into your head at some point. From the big things to the little things: the way his mouth curved so beautifully, just like his mother, when he smiles. the small scar on his stomach that he doesn’t like showing, the stars in his eyes when he has his cats with him.
his beautiful laugh that makes you smile each and every time. his need to be noisy and loud brings comfort to you in the weirdest ways. his cute obsession with his fur babies. his work ethic, his dancing skills, his pretty singing. the way he loves his members so much, the way he shows love to everyone he knows in his own way. his teasing, oh you adore his teasing. it’s so cute to you. sketching was a way you could appreciate him more.
so that’s what you did, you have a sketchbook dedicated to the lee minho. drawings of different emotions, feelings. some emotions that he might not like the best: sadness, anger, guilt, etc. all drawn in a sketchbook, you don’t see any emotion in a negative way. emotions are such a baffling thing to you, but it’s also so artistic to feel things.
you want all his emotions on your paper, you want to understand them, feel them. art was something that came naturally to you, you most definitely got better overtime but it wasn’t necessarily hard. art was a way of expression for you, and also a way of figuring out people. if that makes sense; using art to study feelings was your way of learning and developing an understanding for those emotions.
emotions are so complex, there's no true understanding for them. but art somehow just makes it seem like those emotions are something more than just feelings. it turns them into what they deserve to be recognized for, beauty. to feel is so wonderful, though it may not always seem that way.
you were at your desk in the corner of the room you shared with your partner, it was around 19:34. the natural light that had been previously flowing in through the window was no longer as bright. it had started to dim and you couldn’t see the marks you were making on your paper anymore. so you reached over to the desk light and flipped the switch on at the base of the lamp.
it wasn’t positioned to your liking so you swiftly adjusted it so you could see your work. you glanced up to the dimmed computer screen in front of you to see what song was about to play. it was the theme song from one of your favorite bl dramas, tharntype.
just as you were about to return to your work a little furry creature jumped in your lap. it was one of three of your boyfriend’s kids, soonie, he had wiggled his way under the desk and climbed onto your lap. he sat right on your thighs and had laid his paws and head on your forearm. you couldn’t tell if you were frustrated or in awe at the sight. he started purring like a motorboat in your lap, so you stopped to pet him for a bit before attempting to draw with one arm.
drawing brought you happiness, for the most part. this piece was stressing you out, soonie noticed too. pieces, such as this one, tend to stress you out as you just want it to look perfect but something always seems off. you just wanted it to be perfect, the idea in your head had been. but your execution hasn’t been very much to your liking. it was so frustrating, beyond imaginable.
you kept playing around with it, and many crumpled pieces of paper on the floor later, you couldn’t seem to figure it out. you let out a frustrated groan, then a click sound was made and the door was swung open. minho had finally arrived home.
“minho.” you spoke extending the ‘o’ sound with a little whine to your voice. he looked around and let out a small sigh at the mess. he walked over to you and pulled you off the chair that was giving you a backache after so long. he wrapped his arms around your neck giving you access to slither your arms around his waist. you slightly pulled him closer and buried your head in his neck.
“troubles?” he spoke softly, you nodded your head into his shoulder and tried to sink deeper into the hug. he smiled at his boyfriends’ actions and hugged you tighter. you guys stood like that for a few minutes in silence, “can i see it?”
you pulled away and turned around grabbed the best one off the table. you hesitantly gave him the sheet of paper. he took it out of your hand and examined the detailed sketch. you couldn’t read his face at that moment, `does he like it?`, thoughts coursed through your head. you kept a straight face even though you were nervous, `was it really that bad? why isn’t he saying anything?`.
why is it so damn hard to just feel proud of yourself? you just want it to be relieving, not stressful. when it came to art, you were very naturally talented and had a ton of practice. but as a kid, you got harsh criticism from your family for your art, you wanted nothing more for them to feel proud of you. somehow, even though you knew your boyfriend loved your creations, you couldn’t help but think he was lying to you or think he didn’t mean anything he said.
for whatever reason seconds felt like hours, you started to feel yourself tear up at the thought of someone not liking your art again. especially when that certain ‘someone’ was the love of your life. part of you knew he would love it and he would never lie to you, but that part had succumbed to the part that doubted him. that part of you brought you so much guilt, how could you think your boyfriend was lying to you when he’s done nothing but love you with his everything.
your head dropped as you subconsciously stared holes into the floor, minho had noticed something was off. he knew exactly what it was too. he set the piece of paper back on the table and put his hand to your cheek trying to lift your head to look at him.
“hey, y/n baby, what’s going through your head?” he spoke, trying to get you to look him in the eye but you refused. you slightly shook your head in response, you didn’t want to admit to him what you were thinking. “i can’t help you if you don’t talk to me.” he said a little stern, but in an endearing way. he needed communication, although he had a sense he couldn’t help you with just an urge.
“do you..” you trailed off slightly, rethinking the decision to speak. he stared at you, waiting for you to finish, he raises his eyebrows slightly to indicate that you can continue when your ready. you paused and took a small deep breath. “do you hate it? the drawing i mean.”
It was silent for a second before lino lost his cool, he burst out laughing at you. you looked straight at him, almost stunned.
“what the fuck minho” you said with a whine undertone, you knew why he was laughing so you tried to keep your cool. but ultimately you failed and laughed with him. “don’t laugh at me, i have very valid thoughts.” you rolled your eyes at him, trying to joke around getting yourself in a better mood.
“yeah y/n, i hate it so much.” he extended the ‘so’ and rolled his eyes at you. you added to the theatrics by gasping loudly and gripping your chest falling back onto the bed. you guys laughed for a minute before minho looked you dead in the eye and spoke once more, “y/n, how could i hate it? have you seen the way i draw?”
“yeah of course i have, what does that have to do with anything.” you looked at him with confusion.
“one minute.” he quickly pushed himself off you, and crawled off the bed to the art desk. he sat down and opened your sketchbook dedicated to him. he found the newest unused page and gripped the pencil hurriedly sketching something in the book.
“babe, what are you doing?” you went to get up but he cut you off,
“don’t, i’ll show you in a minute,” he said turning towards you, once was finished talking, and you had sat back down and gotten comfy, he turned back around.
a few minutes went by with only the sound of the led scraping against paper in the background. “okay, i’m finished.” he grabbed both the sketchbook and the drawing you showed him a little bit ago. He crawled back on the bed, “look alright, this is yours.” he handed you your drawing letting you soak it in for a minute.
“okay, and?” you spoke looking up and him. he opened the sketchbook and maneuvered it so it was facing you. he looked down and pointed to his drawing,
“this is mine, that’s the best i can do.” he looked up at you, as you examined his drawing. “clearly theres a difference. last time i checked i wasn’t dating someone who was that incompetent.” he jokingly said, but with seriousness laced throughout the sentence.
“hey, i’m not that stupid.” you spoke defensively, he laughed slightly.
“okay if you say so,” he said with a smirk plastered on his lips, “if you don’t like this drawing so much, i’m stealing it.”
“it’s not even finished though.” you looked at the drawing once more.
he rolled his eyes, “you act like i care, i want it just how it is now.” you went to grab it but he swiped it first. “mine. you can have this one,” he handed you the sketchbook.
it was a really shitty, but cute, attempt at drawing you with his name signed in the corner. you loved it though, and you were going to keep it.
he made his signature loud ‘ahh’ noise, “it was a long day and drawing wore me out, can’t we just watch a movie with soonie, doongie, and dori now?” he whined at you. you quickly jumped off the bed and picked minho up swinging his legs around your waist. you pushed open the bedroom door and walked to the livingroom where you set minho down. you quickly scavenged around for the kids, and food because food was necessary. once you collected your children and some food you headed back to your lover who impatiently sat on the couch with a movie pulled up. the movie was ‘wish you’, the first bl drama that minho had ever watched. ever since lino had watched it, he continuously watches it with you and you comply because how could you not?
you set his babies down on his lap, then set the food on the coffee table just in front of the couch. you quickly climbed up on the couch and placed yourself right behind minho, your chest compressed against his back and your arms locked around his waist. he got comfy and then pressed play on the tv remote, the ‘emotion studio’ intro began to play.
you were a little ways into the movie before you got bored and started kissing minho all over his shoulders, neck, and head. pretty much wherever you could reach, he started squirming around.
“cut it out, pay attention to the movie” he whined trying not to laugh. you got one more kiss in just on the middle of his forehead, when he spoke he turned to look at you so you took your chance. it was a bit longer, you just wanted to the last one to be a good one.
“okay, okay fine.” you said getting comfy again. you felt so loved and comfortable when you shared these moments with your partner. you never wanted them to end. your breath slowed, and you began falling into a comfortable rest with the only person you could ever want to spend the rest of your life with (and of course, his three loveable kids).

An Ask Game for Writers to Procrastinate Working on Your WIP(s)
thank you kindly for tagging me @shrekgogurt @youarenevertooold, and @monbons i've been seeing this game make its rounds on my dash and was really hoping someone would pull me in!
🦈 Tell us the name of one of your WIP(s)
my main three wips at the moment are without sun, ballad of the final sparrow, which is more commonly known as bitverse, and fragile things (and how to break them), but i've also been fucking around a bit the last two or three weeks with a new (terrible, evil, very self-indulgent) wip called god-forbid.
🍄 Describe one of your WIPs in the format of “___ + ___ =___”
i think i might be dumb bc i don't understand this question at all.
🌍 What tags or warnings will your WIP(s) need if you intend to share it?
bitverse: heavy angst, psychological horror elements, alcohol abuse, allusions to suicide, unhealthy coping mechanisms, dead dove: do not eat.
🧭 An alternative title to one of your WIP(s)?
ballad of the final sparrow -> baz is typing fragile things (and how to break them) -> there's a werewolf in london god-forbid -> the gap between a tragedy and comedy
⚠️ Which WIP you’re most likely to finish or update next?
i have no idea. i mean, you'd think the answer would be without sun since it's the only fic i actually have posted at the moment, but unfortunately i am an untrustworthy villain.
💾 What is the document of your WIP called? (Not the story title, but what you’ve saved it as.)
same as the fic title. if i start a new wip and don't know what to call it, i'll pick something at random and add (working title) at the end.
🖍 Post any sentence from your WIP
from without sun:
“You don’t like peppermint,” he says. But maybe she does. Maybe that’s one more thing he can add to his growing list of things he got wrong about Agatha Wellbelove. No. 1 — Dislikes peppermint; actually, she is quite fond of it. No. 2 — Likes Simon Snow; him, not so much.
♻️ A scrapped idea for your current WIP
one of the biggest changes i made to the plot of without sun really early on was penelope's role in the story. i had a clear idea of the story i wanted to tell as soon as i saw the prompt for the fic. without sun was always supposed to be about more than simon and baz. the story is about grief and love, and the space we take up in the lives of the people around us. but n e way, in my orig draft, penny was actually supposed to be able to communicate with simon a bit, and there was gonna be a whole sect of scenes in the middle of the fic where they sat around together trying to break simon's curse what we know and what we don't know style via passing notes. i ended up tossing this idea really quickly tho, and i'm glad i did bc one of my favourite moments i've ever written in any fic happens in chapter two of without sun and it belongs to simon and penny.
🤔 What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?
so many. or, well—what counts as "haven't even started"? i hate to let ideas sit around in my head bc it feels like leaving raspberries in the fridge for too long, like that shit is gonna get mould on it, so usually the first thing i do is rough out a few scenes and/or script out a very rough outline of the plot (like this / this / this style) so that i have something to come back to later. i have dozens of zero drafts just lying tf around. but otherwise, yeah, so many. one big idea i have is called heart on fire and it's based on fanart, but i haven't started it yet bc obvs i wanna get permission from the artist first but i've been holding off reaching out to them about it until i've knocked a few of my less intimidating longfics off my wip list bc heart on fire is gonna fucking hefty so i don't wanna give'r until i'm sure i can manage it.
🤡 How many WIPs are you actively working on?
LMFAO
🛠 Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now?
i'm having a real bitch of a time with agatha's main scene in chapter two of without sun, i've been fighting with it on and off for months, but i can't get it to do what i want it to do.
❤️ Not a question, just a second kudos to send.
cheers!
sorry for any doubles but, tagging: @drowninginships @cosmicalart @that-disabled-princess @fatalfangirl @cutestkilla @you-remind-me-of-the-babe @artsyunderstudy @thewholelemon @roomwithanopenfire @hushed-chorus @blackberrysummerblog @imagineacoolusername @nightimedreamersworld @prettygoododds @confused-bi-queer @mooncello and an open tag for anybody else who wants to procrastinate their wips!

I hope it's not to late to ask some of the Romance Asks! I'd love to know 2, 12, 15, and 31 for Tysinno, please! Feel free to only do some if four it too much <3
absolutely not too late to ask, and thank you very much! I'm always happy to have an excuse to talk about Tysinno, and Tysinno/Ayla 🥰🖤
2. What was the first moment that they knew they were in love with their LI?
the first minute he saw Ayla Aescar. love at first sight, y'all
jk nah. Tysinno knew he had feelings for her for a while, and was interested pretty early on (as early as Capra, after fighting Quiial.) but as of my typing this right now, I'm thinking he doesn't realize "oh, I'm in love with her" until a more mundane moment at the compound when they're spending time together. I have this headcanon that Ayla occasionally uses wind magic to mess with Tysinno when he's sparring or practicing something, like... using the wind to send a practice bullet straight into the ground instead of a target, lol, or pushing a dummy back when he's trying melee stuff. one such occasion, he rolls his eyes and jokingly glares as usual while she's snickering at him, and that's when he knows that he loves her.
(that said, I reserve the right to change my mind on The Moment (tm) as more of Ayla's days off come out! my answer might be different next year :D)
12. Do they have similar goals? If they clash, how do they deal?
I don't think they clash all that often, in terms of goals? they're both very similar people: they both want a community and a family, they're both wanderers who want to see more of the world, they both just generally want this feeling of peace, security, and understanding. they just get each other, so I feel like they're going to want the same things as a couple. stay with the Shepherds, travel the world, start a family at some point. I'm sure that they will clash on something there at some point, but I'm not entirely sure what?
maaaaybe on how many cats Tysinno can have, lol. I think he'd gladly take in every single cat he could if Ayla didn't put her foot down or set a limit or something.
15. Does their view of themselves differ from their partner’s view?
oh, absolutely. :') Tysinno doesn't have the best view of himself; he's struggled with self-loathing over what happened to Maj for the longest time, and he's really only just starting to cope with it as of chapter eight. he sees himself as a bad luck charm, and believes deep down that people are better off without him around. it's why he wandered for so long, and also why he left the Circle without giving his best friend Red a goodbye.
Ayla sees him differently, of course, as do I! Tysinno is aloof at first, but he's incredibly warm and sweet once you become friends, and will yell at gargoyles for you. he's got a dry wit that isn't nearly as overt as Chase's jokes, but still makes you laugh (especially if you have a morbid sense of humor.) he's a gifted artist and writer, he's compassionate and caring, he's just a lot better than he initially gives himself credit for at the start of SHOH. Ayla sees all of that in him, and I imagine that while she does understand why he feels the way he does about himself, she still challenges it and dares him to see the good in himself. which he does to her as well. :)
31. Share anything you would like about the couple!
Tysinno's working on learning Gangara in his spare time! he wants to be able to surprise Ayla by being able to speak to her in her first language.
in RPG terms, I like to think of them as a healer/tank couple.
this scene always makes me laugh, and was just one of many 😳😏 moments from Tysinno lol

Okay, so I had someone send me an ask last night and now I've been thinking about it all day. It wasn't anonymous, which I appreciate, but I'm not responding to it directly for because
Tumblr media
I reached out already to say I'd do some editing, and I've let them know the rest of what I'm about to rant on below, but I want to make sure at least a few more people see this
I flip flop around on how to say this shit all the time. Like, do I say that everyone's a good writer in their own special way? Do I say that you don't need likes and reblogs for validation? I don't fucking know what to say except for maybe one more thing that I'll reiterate until the day I die with various embellishments that will fade in and out
You. Yes you, the person who's reading this who is also a writer/aspiring writer. Come closer. We share a bond, you and I, so really get in physically close
Art can't be contained, you scrunge
If you don't think whatever you're creating is art, go to a damn museum. Or do a virtual tour. Or google the phrase "modern art". It doesn't matter. You're going to see some shit in there that, I would hope, makes you think the artist was a dipwad
I'm ranting more than I thought I would. Here's a keep reading line
You know who fucking sucks at art? Pablo Picasso.
Tumblr media
Look at this absolute pile of bullshit, then look me in the eye, and tell me this isn't the colorized manifestation of an elementary school dropout's Wattpad account
"But ELP, Picasso demonstrated actual working knowledge of anatomy. This is just his AbstRACt sTyLe"
SHUT UP. Nobody asked you, Barbara
Picasso, Piet Mondrian, Andy Warhol. Their artworks are money laundering schemes. Their fame doesn't come from their talent. It comes from obscenely rich people trading blood diamond money for crisp, clean, still-fake money by claiming that poor people "don't get it"
And yet, despite popular opinions being developed because of ridiculous sums of money being pegged up these guys' assholes, artists today still find meaning in their works, tunneling straight through their cognitive dissonance to tell themselves that, no, I actually enjoy staring at blocks of washed out color until my retinas have burnt in just the right spots that I can see an actual human face because an art teacher once told me that these pictures got the most likes on the pre-internet Tumblr
Does that mean people don't actually like this art? Am I trying to tell you you shouldn't like this art? Maybe, but then you'd be obligated to remind me that Churchgirleum Yawjinius is a disgusting assault on your imagination and yet has as many likes as Definitely Real Medicine, which you wouldn't believe was actually written with all the earnestness my void of a chest cavity could muster
Take it from someone who willingly threw away the opportunity for automatic dozens of reblogs and hundreds of likes per post by telling people to fuck themselves (and still gets a bunch for some reason):
The validation is cool, but it's not worth it
The validation does not define what is good or not
What is good or not doesn't even matter
You're not going to make money off this shit
Someone who is genuinely terrible is going to get more validation than you, and is going to flaunt it in your face, and their writing is still somehow going to mean something to way too many people, and it doesn't matter because their soul is just as unfulfilled by the validation as yours is unfulfilled by the lack of it
What is fulfilling is doing something because you can
You are your only source of real validation, no matter what fuzzy dopamines you get from the vapid click of a like button
Oh, and if you do get the validation of Tumblr notes, that doesn't mean your work is shit or you don't deserve love or whatever. Accept it graciously because it's definitely not uncool that people like your shit, but recognize that it's not going to cure your depression
Art is art. We can look at Roman columns and marvel at how their art built modern civilization (though the Romans can fuck themselves IMO (oh wait they literally did haha)), but did it really? Art makes otherwise brutalist architecture tolerable, but the curly Qs at the bases and tops of columns isn't what kept the coliseum from collapsing on thousands of people watching live murder
If you have a story that has overstayed its welcome in your head and needs to be on paper or on a screen, then write the fucking story. Nobody actually cares about the qUaLiTy of your spelling or grammar. They care about being given permission to think about Karina's tits. Do you think their opinion matters?! I mean, they may have great contributions to make on their own, and they should have voting rights, and it's chill if they have something nice to say to you, but the point is that they're already thinking about Karina's tits regardless of your writing. They're just your thralls to manipulate into thinking about Karina's tits in the way that you, the all-powerful artist, want them to think about Karina's tits. If they try to tell you "Karina's tits would have tan lines" then write a whole fic about how Karina is a nudist and has a perfectly even tan, and who's going to argue about it? The idiot who wrote a pedantic comment? No! It's YOU. THE ALL-FUCKING-POWERFUL ARTIST WHO ACTUALLY MADE SOMETHING TO PROVE YOUR POINT WHETHER OR NOT IT IS CORRECT
If you're an artist, then fucking act like one. Embrace the chaos inherent in creativity. Maybe gentleman is vampire. The poison contains joy. We exist in these devastating, beautiful worlds of contradiction in which we hate people and how lonely we are, we crave kindness and embody violence, and we beg the universe to give us direction despite knowing full well that we're going to zigzag between paths. Maybe you relate. Maybe you don't. THAT'S THE POINT. You're not right. I'm not right. We both write (wow, bars)
I keep saying that everyone should just write, and it's not because I think everyone is secretly a good writer. It's because someone out there needs permission to write after being told their entire lives that their value lies in A, or they're not good if B by all the non-artists in who genuinely don't understand why someone needs to make something impractical to begin the infinitely long road to completion
The dumb fucks who don't understand want to contain you because it's in their nature to desire order. They like to come up with metrics to categorize what counts as art and what doesn't so they can change the rules on you. Chaos always wins though
So WRITE. The world doesn't need your artistry. YOU DO. If you write a bunch of shit and people like it but you quit anyway or nobody likes it and you quit, then idk. Maybe you weren't an artist in the first place, which is perfectly fine, or maybe you're giving your corporate overlords too much control over your mind. If you're an artist, you'll burn with the need to create, no matter how much you create. If you feel that, keep writing

I get so worried that I'm asking too much of you with all of the idea's I send in as different anon asks. Not to mention all of the other anons that send in requests and asks.
Sophie, would you let us know if you're feeling overwhelmed?
Short answer: I am overwhelmed, but in a very happy way :>
Long answer: Sit down, I've got some *~ thoughts ~* to share and it might take a bit to get them out.
I sometimes feel a little intimidated by my inbox's contents. There's a lot of amazing ideas in there, and I want to get to them all as soon as I can! I love all of the questions and prompts I receive, so I want to answer every ask that comes in. This can get somewhat nerve-wracking as the submissions continue to come in, but this is a problem I'm so flattered and happy to have.
If I were maybe five years younger, I'd probably be overwhelmed and nervous in a bad way, but I'm not who I was as a teen, so I actually see this as a great honor and opportunity. I get to see people's ideas and questions about a project I started for fun on my own and that oodles of lovely people on the internet now enjoy! How could that ever be something other than insanely cool and inspiring? I'm extremely grateful for the fact my inbox has a pretty steady stream of incoming asks. It's something my past self could have never dreamed of— I thought nobody would ever care about my work, and in under a year I've been flooded with kind comments and people interacting with my work!
I've started challenging myself to answer as many TPiaG-related asks as I can in fun, interesting ways wherever possible. It's an enjoyable challenge and it pushes me creatively in ways that help me grow as an artist and writer.
Also— if I ever do feel uncomfortable or anxious about all the asks I'm receiving, I can turn off my device and go for a walk or crochet something. I can unplug as needed. I'm actually considering taking a short break from my blog (maybe for a week? I'm not sure if I'll take a break at all, so it's uncertain) as I prepare for some exciting stuff coming up in my life— I'm not being held hostage by your sweet submissions! If I ever get intimidated by the kindness of my followers, I can disconnect for a while.
TL;DR: I'm overwhelmed because I'm so touched by the submissions I receive! I don't see it in a bad light, and am continually overcome by how grateful I am for it. Thanks for your concern! I'm doing A-OK :>

Thoughts on Gakuen Alice/Tachibana Higuchi's works in general? I feel as though I remember the works fondly because I was younger, and feel like I should revisit them to see if they hold up, but I'm always open to other opinions/readings
Hi hi! Oh interesting, I can absolutely see why you'd have strong feelings about Higuchi Tachibana's works from childhood. I think Gakuen Alice in particular stands out as one of those series that really grabbed a lot of people's attention when it started because it was fun but not afraid to tackle some darker aspects inherent in its super powered system.
Plus Higuchi could always write fantastic chemistry between compelling characters, even in M to N no Sekai there were so many things about the protagonists that irked me but I absolutely couldn't look away. That's a writer who knows how to keep you hooked!
I think probably my biggest issue with her works is that they can drag and that's part of why Gakuen Alice doesn't stand up as well to me in retrospect. It really could have been 10 volume shorter, but it was a popular title so I don't doubt her editors were keen for it to continue for as long as possible.
I'll be completely honest and admit that I haven't been following her most recent series, Champignon no Majo, but all the art I've seen from it has been ADORABLE. She's got a real talent for illustrating the most exquisite little details in flowers and mushrooms, so I probably should start reading it as it looks like she's hit a new artistic stride that really gels with her existing style.
So yeah, Higuchi's works probably came into my life a little too late for them to be extremely formative for me but I can absolutely see why they hold a special place in people's hearts.
I'm a bit under the weather (hence the rambling, sorry) so I was about to go to bed but I am very tempted to crack open Manga Park and get to reading Champignon no Majo. The atmosphere just in this page (spoilers!) is off the charts! :O So thank you for sending me down a new rabbit hole!
If you'd be willing to share I'd love to hear more about what made her works stand out to you when you were younger.

How do I get people to care about me personally as a writer and my work? I only got three likes on a piece of work while this another writer literally got 6 likes on a post with someone asking if they were okay and 7 likes on another post congratulating them on her fic count while literally my fic count post congratulating myself only received 1 like and my other only received 2. It just shows me that my followers don't care about my works at all because I'm not good enough and I think I suck at canon character portrayal. It makes me think that the person who was over critical about my work was right I suck as a writer and as a human being.
I have been trying to think of the best way to word my response to this and it's been a struggle, honestly. It's not that I don't have an answer, it's that the answer may be a bit discouraging because the unfortunate truth is that there isn't a simple answer for how to get people to love your writing.
It's a lot of hard work. It often takes a long time, especially with today's writeblr. Back when I first joined writeblr, there was a lot more interaction. It was much easier to get your work in front of people because people were actually reblogging works and sharing them with others. Now-a-days, most people will just like it and move on, essentially cutting out a VAST majority of the readership you otherwise might get.
So, today, people getting enthusiastic about your writing not only takes a whole lot more work but it also takes a whole lot of luck. Getting your writing in front of the right person and HOPING they'll get into it enough to get their readers to get enthusiastic about it.
On top of that, a lot of writers now have "reblog blogs" which also cuts down the amount of people that will views your works because if their followers don't care for what they reblog usually, they won't follow that blog even though they're following the writing blog, so that cuts out another chunk of people that might be into your writing.
Then you also have to worry about timezones and the right people being online. There may be people that follow you and love your writing but if you're not posting it or reblogging it when they're online, they might not see it. A lot of people don't do what used to be much more common (me included, tbh) and scroll all the way down their dashes til they catch up to where they last were. So they could be missing your writing even if they love it. People often follow an impossible amount of blogs to keep up with fully, so they often miss things, even if they'd love it.
Basically, it boils down to you have to work hard to get your works in front of the right people at the right time. It's hard work, it's a lot of work, but if you're lucky and a great writer, you might be able to get the views. But even if you get the views, that doesn't mean that you'll get the notes because these days, people feel discouraged to actually interact with works.
So it's just a whole lot of mess that is causing writers and artists (especially writers, though, since it's a lot more work to read than it is to view art and a lot of people don't have the energy to read long stories these days) to not get the interaction or views they would have in the past.
Ugh, I know this is probably a really discouraging reply, but to be honest, these days I even struggle to get many notes on my actual writing. This blog gets lots of interaction, but that's because I'm GIVING something to people. Not many people are willing to react to a post that isn't giving them something (such as the encouragement from this blog)... so it's been hard for me too. I don't get nearly the interaction on my main that I do on this blog, so I'm not sure that I could give any specific advice on how to better get the interaction you're craving.
Maybe if you'd asked me 2-3 years ago, but tumblrites (especially on the creative side of tumblr) have changed a lot since then, so it's more of a struggle for everyone to get views, yes, even the popular ones. We're all feeling the changes.
I hope you get the interaction you're craving, my friend. I'm hoping to start a blog soon that'll help with writers create more of a community and interaction with one another, but we'll see if it works.
Sorry for all the depressing responses. I hope that you still push forward and that you find a way to get those interactions you're craving.
Good luck and happy writing, my friend. 💖
