update on the cattails-tf2 crossover! :D

Made some extra designs because I felt bad about it taking so long lol. My second passes for the mercs is going well and sprites should be ready by Friday if I plan my time correctly :) in the meantime, here’s some lore for these kitties! I’ll get into game mechanics on another post.

Merasmus is Glimmer’s cousin, who joined them on the trip to the Wildwood. Merasmus doesn’t plan to stay long, and is hostile towards you at first. They claim to be the most powerfulist wizard in the lands, but their spells and curses usually fall flat. They spend a lot of time in the museum, begrudgingly helping Glimmer out with organizing the place and with studying to increase their magical abilities. Once you become friends with them, they’re convinced to stay and now cast spells of good luck and fortune on you.

Hale is a dog, but they don’t let that stop them from trying to fit in! They were raised by the mountain domain after they were abandoned by their previous owners, and traveled with jag to the Wildwood. Hale is loud, energetic, and very strong. The younger cats love playing with Hale, but the older ones are much more hesitant to let them into their shops and such in fear that they’ll break something. They mean well! Just pretty clumsy. He loves you from the start, and as your friendship grows he’ll beg you to go on adventures together, maybe beat up some voidling cats together!

Penelope is Coco’s assistant, brought here by the Forest Guardian themselves when they saw how overworked Coco was. Penelope is always busy, and a bit dismissive when they first meet you. You’ll find them in Coco’s den helping them manage the colony, or communicating with the forest guardian. Penelope has a potential rival marriage with Firebug, (pyro) which I have some very cute ideas for lol. As you grow closer, Penelope will tend to rant about her job and start to tell you her jokes that she’s writing, maybe a cutscene with her having an open mic night at Embers shop?

Helen was a previous resident of the Wildwood before everything went downhill. They managed to barely escape with their life before the voidling cats arrived. They only become a resident after you complete the main story, but you’ll get the occasional cutscene or a dialogue mention of a cat spying from a distance as you go through the game. Helen is very standoffish and her intentions in the colony are unclear. You don’t even get their name until you get 4 stars with them. They appear to have some magical properties, leftover from when the land was corrupted, you’ll see smoke come out of their nostrils and their eyes will glow a bright green when they’re upset. And how old were they again? Quite the mysterious cat.

Just want to preface this by saying that I can't guarantee when/if these will come out, but I want to have a public record of what I have worked on so my followers can get a feel for what to expect from my fics. I am very scatterbrained about writing and I tend to move around these WIPs adding to them randomly until I get a strong enough fixation on one. For instance, I wrote the very start of Entanglement Theory, left it alone for a full year, and then finished the rest of it in only around a week.

Mayans Take Their Kids Trick-or-Treating | Headcanon

Didn't include Miguel and Nestor because I was trying to keep this one MC-centric, but lemme know if you want HC for those two!

I meant for this to be shorter, but then I got carried away with all the fluffy feels, so...

Bishop: This year, your son is old enough to decide what he wants to be for Halloween, and he wants to be Spiderman – Bishop has been reading the comics with him before bed for the last couple of months for some father/son bonding time. Your son doesn’t ask either of you to dress up; he’s just excited to have both of you to himself at the same time. He walks down the sidewalk between the two of you, holding your hands and discussing the pros and cons of different types of candy. You catch Bishop gazing over at you a few times, a small, proud smile playing on his lips as he spends his evening with his family.

Taza: Taza’s not super into Halloween, but he tags along for the memories, wanting to commemorate your son’s first Halloween. You have your son decked out in a handmade owl costume that Taza helped you think up, and you carry him in your arms. He’s too young to really know what’s going on, but his gummy smile never leaves his face. You make Taza take a million pictures, but you’re also sure to hand the camera to Bishop periodically to get some good pictures of all three of you.

Tranq: Tranq is in full dad mode for Halloween, his twin girls in elaborate costumes: one as a bumblebee and one as a butterfly. They walk on either side of him, each gripping one of his hands and every once in a while he lifts his arms to swing them, making them squeal. And since his girls have him wrapped around their fingers, the three of you were even able to convince him to don a pair of wings himself. You can’t help but giggle at the sight, the glittery white wings comically small on him. You follow along behind them taking a million pictures, dressed in your ladybug costume, still amazed that you were able to find such an incredible man.

Angel: You are all in on Halloween and having a kid, to you, means getting to relive a kid’s Halloween experience. Your son wants to be a pirate and so you spent a couple weekends hand-sewing your and his coordinating pirate costumes. Sometimes, Angel would come home late from the club to find you hunched over the kitchen table with a needle and thread and his heart would swell with admiration at what a good mom you are. Angel does not dress up, but you successfully bribe him (with some treats of his own later *wink*) to at the very least don a pirate hat and carry a fake sword attached to his belt. Angel hangs back and grins like a fool all night, watching his girl and his son enjoy themselves, divvying up candy and posing for silly pictures.

EZ: EZ has been reading Me, Frida with your daughter, and so she practically begs to dress up as Frida Kahlo. The three of you had even taken a Saturday to scour Santo Padre for appropriate huipil and skirts and made a day of it, getting tacos and ice cream and of course, stopping at the bookstore. You pin her hair up and weave colorful flowers into it. As you trick-or-treat, EZ is almost as excited as your daughter, the pair of them happily explaining her costume to anyone who asks (and EZ’s eyes twinkle with pride as he watches her nerd out). You hang back and take pictures, adoring your little daddy’s girl, who still comes running back to you to beg for a piece of candy here and there.

Creeper: Creeper takes a backseat and goes along with whatever you have planned for you guys’ first Halloween with a kid, just wanting your son to have a good time. You pick out a cute dragon costume, which Creep totally gets behind. The two of you don’t dress up, but Creeper carries his tiny dragon all night, showing him off to his brothers like a proud papa. When the little man gets cranky, you head home so Creeper can take his time putting his son to bed before the two of you curl up on the couch for a more adult kind of Halloween party.

Coco: Coco doesn’t fully dress up, but puts on a wizard’s hat at his daughter’s request, to coordinate with her tiny witch costume. Letty joins in, both you and her dressed in glow-in-the-dark skeleton unitards. Letty takes the reins, walking her little sister up to front doors and helping remind her what to say when the door opens. You get some great pictures of your daughter looking up adoringly at her big sister. Coco hangs back a little at first, chain smoking nervously, not sure how to involve himself and always a little worried about messing up. You remind him that just by being here he’s building memories with her, and gently encourage him. Your daughter winds up walking between Coco and Letty, holding their hands and begging her dad for candy. He, of course, gives in, and she’s eaten a quarter of the bag before you even get home.

Gilly: Much like Tranq, Gilly is living his best big soft dad life, carrying his kiddo when she gets too tired to walk anymore, the pink tulle of her princess dress heaped in his arms. You get a priceless picture of Gilly wearing a giant grin, cradling his sleeping daughter against his kutte, her tiara slipping and a piece of half-eaten chocolate clutched in her chubby little fist. You all head home a little early, ready to put the princess to bed and relax on the couch with a scary movie and some popcorn for a little Halloween fun of your own.

Riz: Riz helps you brainstorm ideas for costumes, always wanting to be involved where his daughter is concerned. Even though she’s old enough to have some opinions about what she wants to dress up as, she asked for help deciding and her parents were going to give it. Until she comes home from kindergarten one day demanding to dress up as a biker. Riz laughs and scoops her up, his face completely delighted. On Halloween, she is decked out in a black, child-size kutte that you embroidered skulls and roses on the back of, and a sparkly green open-face helmet. She insists that her papa also wears his kutte, and the three of you walk hand-in-hand all night while she tries to sneak Starburst from her candy bag.

okay 1) i can’t believe you’ve reawakened my rwby obsession that hasn’t been a Thing since vol2 first came out years ago how dare you. 2) i have a mighty need for canon rwby, tai, qrow, and oz to meet always i dreamed’s storq. i can only imagine the reactions.

THAT WOULD BE SO FUN. So chaotic.

Just- It would be GREAT if somehow it’s the canon cast stumbling headfirst into Team STORQ’s world. And nobody knows how Tai got there when everyone else happened to be on campus but he’s here and after some paranoid pointing, Ozpin and the Much Younger Ozpin agree that this is all very strange and they need to run damage control. Team RWBY is staring at an Oz who only looks a few years older than them, maybe in his early twenties at most, and Qrow is trying to fade into the background because he knows where they are in this other timeline and he doesn’t want to think about it.

But it’s late, and Ozpin is struggling to sort accommodations for dimension travelers who need to stay secret, and suddenly a portal opens. Canon Qrow, Tai and Oz all freeze, young Oz looks briefly alarmed and then resigned. Team RWBY doesn’t get it until out struts a 20-something RAVEN BRANWEN dressed in her pajamas, “Oz. It’s almost mid...” she takes in the dimension hoppers with a blank look, then props her hands on her hips, “I’m not going to ask what happened, I don’t wanna know. But I assume they need a place to spend at least the night?”

Young Ozpin makes a faint noise of agreement into the hands he’s hiding his face with. Raven nods calmly, rolls her shoulders in thought.

Hefts young Ozpin over her shoulder like he’s a glorified potato sack, “They can stay in the guest cabin, Tai won’t mind.”

“I’m sorry, what?” says more than one canon character while canon Oz makes a strangled noise at the sight of Raven carting off his younger version.

Raven calls over her shoulder, “Hurry up, the portal is noisy, and if you wake up Yang after I just got her settled there will be blood to pay.”

Extremely off balance, they all file through the portal into a bedroom that is about 80% bed.

A younger Tai, Summer, and Qrow are already sprawled on it in varying states of sleep and Raven is contentedly flopping a resign younger Ozpin down on it without hesitation or remorse.

The only reason none of the canon characters make a racket is because their brains are universally bluescreening as Young Raven kisses her Tai’s forehead to settle him down, steals young Ozpin’s glasses off his face to put them on the nightstand, and then herds them all out what is undeniably the house on Patch.

Canon Qrow, in a strangled whisper: You- uh- that- them- uh-

Raven eyes him in vague amusement: Words, brother. I know you have them.

Yang finally snaps and snarls: You’re- you live here? You’re still here? But-

Her voice trails off and Young Raven pauses. For a moment her mask cracks and they can see she’s not handling this nearly as calmly as she appeared, then her mask is back in place and she gently runs a hand over Yang’s hair. She looks ... melancholy, “So you are going to have my hair when you grow up. That... well. That’s something.” She shakes her head and resumes herding them all to the guest cabin, “Yes. I live here. I ... stayed.” She shoots a look at the extremely quiet and withdrawn canon Tai and Qrow, “by my own choice. So stop beating yourself up over what you did and didn’t say. If your- if the other- if she left,” Raven grits out, “that was her mistake. No one else's.” She stands in the doorway as they’ve all filtered in and glares at the floor, “You can sort out the rooms however you please, we’ll deal with ... all this. In the morning. But for the love of the moon, keep any crisis you have down to a dull roar. I just got all the kids asleep.”

“Kids? Plural?” Tai manages to stumble out and younger Raven smirks briefly before sauntering out without an explanation.

Their brief stay in another dimension does not get any less weird.

Team RWBY get to meet bby Ruby and tiny gremlin Yang as well as a few tiny kids they don’t recognize that apparently Raven adopted off the street? Summer is alive so everyone is an emotion meeting her (and she them for obvious reasons) and NOBODY is sure what to make of young Ozpin, because he is clearly a part of the little clan here. He tolerates being nudged and hair-ruffled and flopped on by the other members of Team STORQ, he has a bright green mug for hot coco that has “1# Sad Wizard Man” sloppily written in marker on it, and the tiny children adoringly call him uncle and beg for stories when they aren’t staring at the dimension counterparts with huge eyes.

The two Qrow’s are prickly around each other, because not only is this weird ... younger Qrow is not nearly as much of an alcoholic as canon one. He’s ... happier. More grounded. You can tell and it’s a weird feeling on both sides to see the differences. Canon Tai is maybe having a tiny crisis because Raven STAYED???? There’s a world where Raven stayed. But RUBY IS A THING?

Other Tai, obliviously: Well yeah, she’s Qrow’s and Summer’s. Yang just calls her little sister because she always wanted one.
