💀 It was because of this that you had met your future husband, Hades, the Greek God of the Underworld and the King of Helheim

💀 When you had taken both your brother's and your shifts one day, due to him getting slightly ill from no doubt doing something stupid, you had learned from your helper, and niece, Kebechet, that you had a meeting with the King

💀 During your meeting, Hades thought to himself about how similar you appeared to his ally-in-work, and he learned from your introduction that you were the Deity of the Soul, meaning you would watch over and mold someone's soul correctly before they came to life, and you would take them down alongside your brother

💀 Hades may not inherently like how your brother acts, but whenever you look at him with big puppy-dog eyes, his heart melts

💀 You mainly became close due to your jobs working together and gossiping about your families (the Greek and Egyptian Pantheons), you now know a lot more about Poseidon and Zeus

💀 You and Hades eventually began to court one another a few centuries after your first meet, which in a God's life is like knowing somebody for around a few months, depending on the amount

💀 Due to how close you had gotten, you wanted Hades to meet your parents, Osiris and Nephthys. And he always reacted the same; maybe after you meet mine first

💀 Respecting his wishes, you had met Hades' family on a number of occasions, your most memorable being when Zeus tried hitting on you, but before his sons could pull him back to reality, Hades grabbed his ear and scolded him like a mother would. Though he did also glare at him with nothing in his eyes... maybe that was why he almost pissed his toga...

💀 And over time, your requests began to get more frequent. So, respecting your wishes as well, Hades agreed to meet your family, much to you and your brother's delight

💀 You hopped that this would go perfectly, but hope doesn't always work out...

" You're kidding me. " " Osiris! Be nice. I apologize for my husband's harsh words, Hades. I'm Nephthys, Y/N, Horus, and Anubis' mother, it's so nice to have you here. Oh, by the way, Y/N, the rest of the main family is coming by soon. " " Including Uncle Set and Uncle Khepri? " " Yes. Now come, I must show you how he redesigned your room. "

💀 Hades watched as you walked away with your mother, smiling gently as you groaned and you slide your upper-jackal head mask down to cover your burning cheeks as your mother ranted

" So, what are you planning to do with my youngest, huh? "

💀 Your husband's eyes widened as your father pointed his Shepard's crook at his neck. His green skin clashing with the gold and wooden item

" Apologies, but I do now quite understand what you mean by 'doing with them'. " " Are you gonna hurt them like Zeus hurts Hera? After all, you do have the same genetics. "

💀 Hades had to resist grabbing Osiris' crook and snapping it into splinters with his hands. Instead, he took a deep breath and lightly nudged the item away from his neck and began looking at you across the room with hearts in his eyes as he spilled said organ's love and devotion out to his Father-in-Law

" Osiris, your youngest is by-far the most spectacular person I have ever met in my many centuries of living. In both physical appearance and how their personality and beyond is, they just... they just feel so right to have by my side, you know? I cannot stand the mere thought of laying harm to her, mental of physical. It makes my stomach plummet to the depths of my immortal soul. Seeing them happy and smiling on the other hand? That is one thing I would never change nor rid myself of for the world. "

💀 Looking up and down at Hades and contemplating his words, Osiris sighed deeply and held his crook lighter than before as a smile slightly covered his face before it turned into a teasing yet dangerous scowl

" I shall allow you and my child to prosper in your love for one another longer. But, know this, you hurt them, I will dispose of you like how we do here in Egypt. Understood? " " Completely, Father. " " Don't call me that. "

Fave fics of 2023

I read almost exclusively Achilles x Patroclus fics this year 😅😅Here is a sampling of some of my faves--some that were posted this year, and some that I only read this year.

Completed fics:

was it my august by archangelgf (Achilles x Patroclus, E). 18 year old popstar Achilles is the hottest mess in all of LA, and his father asks his ex-best friend (ex-something) Patroclus to help out. Achilles is such a mess. Just such a mess.

Twin Flames by @johaerys-writes (Achilles x Patrolcus, E). Prince and squire AU in which Patroclus didn't follow Achilles to Mount Pelion. After years of separation, Patroclus returns to Achilles' service in order to escort him to his betrothal.

Flowers for the Dead and Living by firefly_quill (Achiles x Patroclus, T). After mob violence ended Patroclus's medical career (and resulted in Achilles' disappearance), Pat gets a job in a flower shop. Very sweet.

Feral and Stray by littlelamblittlelamb. Achilles x Patroclus (E). In rural Australia in the 1950s, Achilles and Patroclus have a complicated-and frankly fucked up-relationship. Mind the content warnings on this one.

On the Ropes by red_smear. Achilles x Patroclus x Zagreus (E). Patroclus and Achilles are hella divorced, and the history is juicy. Zagreus accidentally forms relationships with them both while trying to win enough money boxing to get out of town.

Fugue by @swaps55. Shepard x Kaidan (M) Kaidan's life during the missing two years. Devastating. Gorgeous. I want to take the chapter where the Normandy is blown apart and post it on my wall.

Fics I hope to see in 2024 (aka WIPs)

Where the Dead Forget by @darlingpoppet (Achilles x Patroclus, M). Whilst Achilles is acting as a guard to the House of Hades, Patroclus drinks from the Lethe and forgets him entirely. Achilles grieves all over again.

you’re a walking disaster, and yet- by @johaerys-writes. Achilles x Patroclus (T). Pat and Achilles growing up in modern rural Greece. They both have issues, but now they have each other.

Face to Face by @juliafied. Zagreus x Thanatos (M). Thanatos comes across a familiar face on a dating app. Thanatos swipes right.

When Death Incarnate Got Banished to France by Marro (G). Thanatos is kicked out of the Underworld and trying to live like the mortals do in France. He gets a cat.

R: "I want to say it was one of the weekends Grandmama and Granpa went to one of their wine showcases, and i believe you were being in a undercover relationship.... god i still cant believe you went through all of that.."

Josiah huffed and raised a brow at Ruby "Oh you are one to talk... Izzi didn't officially come out until fucking college so who was a secret throughout the final days of high school mmm"

R: "too che.. fine but anyway so it was during one of those weekends. i was home alone, ready to link up with Hades and Sinclair when i received a weird message from Izzi... i still remember it because it didn't quite make sense."

I:"hey... i.. um i know it’s late.. but could i umm maybe come over? wait no that is stupid i am sorry, why did i even start off like that.. its just i don't want to be in my house right now and i don't... well you... yeah nevermind. I'm sorry to bother you."

R: "Izzi sounded like they were crying and shooken up.."

R: "of course i relistened to it to make sure i wasn't delusional... but from the voice i was used too... this was different.. so of course... i invited them over..."

R: "hey..." I: "hi... -izzi sighed and looked down at the ground in front of them- I'm sorry i know its late... and god i must have sounded so confusing in that message... i just didn't know where else to go...."

Ruby watched as Izzi darted their eyes around and clung to their own clothes as if this was the first and last place they wanted to be at.

R: "hey.. its okay.. i am glad you called.. you seemed like you could use a friend.."

Josiah laughed "A friend? A FRIEND ? AHAHAHAH! you probably wanted to do way more than that...."

Ruby huffed "shut. up."

Izzi sighed heavily and dropped their head again just to take a few steps forward and lean into Ruby.

Ruby sighed into the embrace and gently cupped izzi's head and arm R: "its okay i got you... -as Izzi pulled a bit away ruby gently rubbed her knuckles along Izzi's chin before booping their nose with her thumb- we dont even have to talk about it... we can watch movies and if you are hungry, my grandma left Josiah and I with some fresh made shepards pie. quite frankly i believe it is the best in the whole country"

Izzi chuckled and slowly nodded their head. "i would like that very much."

R: "you see..... we just had this instant connection... and even though nothing really happened until later on.. it just felt like we fit... no matter how defeated they sounded moments ago.. I was the one who could bring them back to a stable mind.. and I don't know I really liked that... loved that.. it was like I was their safe space... let them be themselves.. Broody and cutthroat at times, yet gentle and soft.."

"for a while, Izzi didn't talk just sat beside me on the sofa, but when They finally did... They didn't go into detail on the abuse, neither did they say it directly... but the hidden message between Their disheartening words, lead me to believe that Izzi was going through some kind of abuse at home.. I knew this for sure... I also knew in thar moment Izzi wasn't just struggling with their family but themselves..."

Ruby sighed "Izzi that night told me that really never felt one way or the other.. quite frankly the labels themselves were unnecessary to them. they just wanted to be Izzi... "

I: "My father and mother keep talking about arranged marriages...thinking about not even letting me go to college... my mother has been more on top of me about my diet, my attire, my fucking hair..... even if I breathe wrong I am just a fuck up...i don't want any of that.... fuck i don't even want to get married especially if it is like that...everything about it just seems so fucked up.. I don’t even see my parents genuinely love eachother.. they are emotionally unavailable and seem to not give a absolute shit about me. They just want to control me.. turn me into this perfect woman they can show off like a fucking trophy...” Ruby listened her brows bunching up tighter before releasing an aggravated groan. "That actually annoys the fuck out of me... your parents seem like they need to be kicked around this state REPEATEDLY! Tattoo fucktards on their forehead”

Izzi let out a huff with a small chuckle. "You are so violent.. but you know what? ... maybe even use a spiked bat... yeah... that seems fitting.” Ruby laughed "Aww you little psychopath, I knew it, you are always so quiet, yet so charming." She teased only to laugh at Izzis reaction. They were quite literally frowning. I: "gosh if that is your way of giving a compliment. We are going to have to work on that."

Ruby was flipped through the rows of rows of pictures until a light laugh escaped her lips. "I knew I had a picture of this night..."

Josiah took the picture and gave a small smile. "I can't deny you guys were quite cute together...."

Ruby sighed "We were....-the taste of past tense of them didn't seem to sting as much.. yet Ruby still let out another sigh- Izzi kissed me that night too.. right well a bit before this picture.. I was always very fluid with my sexuality.. but I knew that it might have freaked them out with how they felt towards me. Which made me feel.. special. Yeah special."

Mass Effect 1 Replay, wrapping up Voyager Cluster and starting Hades Gamma:

-The Shadow broker agent calls and asks Shepard for Cerberus's files. Why are Cerberus's files the Alliance's files? Because Cerberus was Black Ops?

-For once, Shepard saying their loyalty is to the Alliance isn't renegade. Here it's paragon/neutral.

-Again, this conversation ends on ominous note that it will make an impact on ME2/ME3 and yet is never brought up again.

Amazon Cluster:

-Hackett takes being turned down well for once. Yes, please send someone qualified to disarm the nuke.

-I agree with the Council. Attaching nukes to surveillance drones was dangerous and irresponsible. The drones could easily have found their way to another group that wasn't the enemy to start with, but became one after a nuke went off in their face.

-I always promise to be discreet. I always take aliens with me on this mission. It would have been a nice Easter egg if doing so resulted in some extra dialogue in the future because Liara/Garrus informed their people about it.

-Agebinium - It's a nice touch that you can find the car + driver where the the scavenger corpse with the turian insignia presumably came from.

-When you enter the mine, neutral/renegade Shepard assume it's a trap. Paragon is surprisingly optimistic - maybe, just maybe, they don't know it's a nuke. Hah.

-Elanos Haliat - The dialogue with him is very good, especially the renegade choices.

-He refers to the Terminus as "Terminus Clans". I think that's the only time they're called clans? Is that just because he's a turian?

-This is a genuinely good trap. It's lucky as hell that Shepard can disarm the nuke. And the nuke itself is a human nuke - if it had killed Shepard that would have been an ironic touch.

-I finally figured out why the Mako is with the pirate camp when you escape the mine: They're stealing it. How did I never realize that before? I always assumed that was the game moving it there so you don't have to walk over the mountain.

Antaeus

-Ploba - I think we can safely conclude the planet isn't a supercomputer or the Reapers would have destroyed it by now.

It would have been hilarious if it had been destroyed in ME3, with the implication being that it was a supercomputer. Missed opportunity there.

Still... what are those structures in the atmosphere?

-Trebin - Why does every scavenger I run into attack me on sight?

-Turians were everywhere in the Atticus Traverse. There are no Batarian corpses or artifacts. I thought Batarians were who the Alliance had to brawl with to claim this area?

-So who did set up the tower that disrupted the survey team's GPS satellites? I don't think that is ever stated.

-I think this is the first example of finding Reaper tech in mines that results in miners becoming husks.

Why is this a thing? The Reapers want civilizations to flourish, then destroy them as they start to create synthetic life. So what's the point of leaving tech behind to create husks?

And why in mines? When do the Reapers even enter in mines?

-There's a glowing ball in the Reaper tech that looks like the ball the Geth worship on Feros. Is that intentional or just asset reuse?

-If you have subtitles on, Tali's heard of this happening before. The spoken dialogue skips those sentences.

-There are Dragon's Teeth at the back of the mines. So... Did the survey team put themselves on the Teeth? Brutal.

-This planet supposedly has no water, but the mine is full of it. Ah, ME1 and reusing the same maps over and over.

Ghost is waiting to get his injured arms x-rayed again. Looking how good they healed by now. Usally he would be annoyed by this, but he's in a good mood after his call with Soap yesterday. God he's down bad, Simon brought a bunch of emotions with him from his grave in Ghost mind. Even the nurses pick up on it, he needs to fix this. He is a private person and being part if the infirmary gossip makes his skin crawl. At least they think its a someone of the nursing staff, besides the head nurse. She is on to them, something about 25 years of experience and watching pinning soilders. Atleast she's supportive, saying that it was about to happen in a task force like the 141. And she's right he and Soap work together since the start of 141 and had countless missions together. Besides Roach Soap is the only person he touches outside of whats absolute necessary.

Soap sits in his office just coming back from a walk with Riley when Shepard walks in. Oh shit. "Captain MacTavish", he greats with a smile on his face. Oh he's fucked. "General how nice to have you here", Soap lies through his teeth, not even trying to smile knowing he cant pull it of. "I have a special mission for the 141", Shepard starts and Soap is braceing himself mentally. "As I told you everyone is eighter already out or on medical leave", Soap repeats his statement from 2 days ago. "Isn't Sergeant Sanderson and his team back by now?", Shepard asks and Soap gets a really bad feeling. "They are stucked in a monsume, when I checked din with him your save house was turning the lower level in a pool", Soap explains. "Who will back first?", Shepard demands to know. "Price and Beta Team is coming back to night." "Thats to late.", the General complaints trying to starr Soap down, force him to agree. "I'm sorry General, but we can't take this mission. We honstely don't have space for any additional missions. We are really busy." "How convinced Captain", Shepard already losing his patience. If looks could kill Soap would lie on the floor by now. "Is not my fault we found a intel gold mine and have to hunt down the leads", Soap conters the accusation of the General. "What do we even work with you together if you cant even take one singel mission", Shepard smears and Soap has to put a lot of effort keep his cool. Soap stays silent everything he wants to say will keep him longer on Shepards shit list. "The pentagon should probably cut the american buged for the 141", Shepard continues his angry rant. Shepards monologe goes on for 20 minutes and he ends it with: "Well maybe I should put my own men in the taskforce so that the job finally gets done right." "Well General if you're not happy with how the 141 is working you can make your own special taskforce, we had no complaints about our work yet", is the most diplomatic think Soap can muster to say, basically telling the General that he is the problem. Shepard is fuming at this before angry storming out of the office. Yeah, place 1 of the shit list is still his. He is so fucking angry about how Shepard smeared the work of the 141. This is now personal for him.

Soap is in the worst mode for having any disciplinary talks, but it has to be done. He just hopes this don't get on his nerves to much. He didn't hade any time to blow of some steam, so his ability to take anymore bullshit is absolute zero. Riley is leaving him alone sensing his bad moot, laying a bit further away carefully watching him. She has seen some of Ghost angry out bursts and the aftermath of them. How draind Ghost is after them, sometimes about to cry when he realises how much like his father he is. Sergeant Meyers is walking in Soaps office and Soap is tensing. "Captain MacTavish", the Sergeant greats him saluting. Soap hates how relaxed Meyers is about the situation. Probably got away with it before. Soaps blood is boiling already. He will get all up in Meyers face, the second Meyers steps over the line. "I have a complain about your behaviour Sergeant", Soap simply states, Meyers still being way to relaxed. "From whom?" "Anonymous." "So it's all made up then if they don't even want to but their name on it." Soap is disgusted by the smugness in the Sergeants voice. "Oh so you didn't encourage or atleast dont stop 5 Privats to sexual harassing a fellow female soilder?", Soap asks giving Meyers one last chance to admit. "Never seen or heard a thing, Sir." " So you never over heard and I quote: " 'With this fat tits you should change carriers, I would be your first costumer'?" Meyers confidence is waving when he hears the disgust in Soaps voice. "No, Sir." "What about 'Can I cover you big titts with my cum? I bet it would make them look even better'?" "No, Sir." "So you didn't tell Private Hotchner last week that 'she would help bossting morals by not covering up her big fat titts'?" "I..", Meyers stammers knowing he's in deap shit. "Answer the question Sergeant. Yes or No. Did you or did you not?", Soap voice cold with rage his eyes burning holes in the Sergeants head. "Yes, Sir", the Sergeant stammers out. "So am I right to assume that the female Privates don't feel comfortable to report this kind of harassment to you?" "Yes, Sir", the face of the Sergeant an unhealthy pale. "Why do you think thats the case?" "Because I.. because I participate in the same behaviour, Sir." "You still think the report is fake, Sergeant?", Soap asks his finale question. "I.. no Sir." "Thats what I thought", Soap spit out his voice cold and emotionless. Meyers squirms under his gaze, nervously waiting for whatvever punishment the Captain sees fit. "What's my punishment, Sir?", the Sergeant asks when Soap continues to burn holes in his head. "I will talk about it with Captain Price and Ghost", Soap answers a cold smile on his face. "Ghost?", Meyers stammers about to faint now. "That's a problem?" "No Sir." "Oh and Sergeant you will punish and observe the punishment of the 5 Privates. They will clean the showers with a toothbrush, for the next 2 months " "Yes Sir, of course Sir." "I will know if you let them get away with this or make their punishment easier." Meyers only nots at this not able to verbaly confirm he understood. "Dismissed." Meyers nearly runs out his Office.

Riley carefully puts one of her paws on Soaps leg. Getting aggressive head scratches from Soap, who takes a deep breath he needs to punch someone or fuck, he don't care at this point. He lets out a sign before giving Riley his full attention for now. Scratching Rileys favourite spot behind her left ear. Riley is resting her head on Soaps leg looking content. "Spoiling my dog with affection, Captain?", a voice sudenly asks, making Soap flinch. "Fuck Ghost, stop living up to your call sign", Soap complains looking up again. "Not my problem when you don't pay attention to your surroundings", Ghost says shrugging, a amused glint in his eyes. "You're allowed out of medical?", Soap changes the topic. "All healing well, 3 more weeks then the cast gets of", Ghost states and Soap senses that something is up. "You want a medical leave form?", Soap asks. "No, I can recover on base, shorter ways. You know." Soap needs to a moment so he don't say anything he shouldn't say no the admin building. "Of course, so you here to take Riley with you?", Soap asks. "No." Soap frowns at this, what does Ghost want then. "Over heared your littel talk with Meyers. Poor guy nearly fainted when he saw me", Ghost says casually aproaching Soap. Soap trys to watch Ghost and the door at the same time, if Shepard honestly anyone walks in they are fucked. Ghost leans down before wispers I his ear: "You're frustrated, Captain?" Ghost voice is so low and deep right now giving Soap goosebumps. "Yes", Soap admits before waiting for Ghost respons. "Want to get some stress relief?" Soap breath hitches at this, hes breathing now audioable. "No, yes I.. fuck Simon not here", Soap shutters out, looking at the door warry that every can see them. "Know a spot", Ghost wispers such nice dirty promises in his ear. Soaps brain sady reminds him about an important detail. "We can't Shepard is on base", Soap says knowing he's ruining the mood with this. He wants to hear more about Ghost plan. Ghost makes a frustrated noice before pulling back, looking more affected by this then Soap.

Ghost pupils are blown, the usual cold blue's producing a lot of heat right now. He just wants a good fuck is that to much to ask? "What did he want?", Ghost asks crossing his arms in front of his chest. "Tryed to give us a mission." "We have enough mission and not enough people already", Ghost reminds both of them of their big workload of the last two months. "Wanted to send Roach and the two FNGs out, but that's not the worst yet. Sounds like he wants to partly take 141 over", Soap explains why he got out of the conversation this morning. "He will have to rip the taskforce out of Price dead hands, old man probably will come back from the dead to prevent this", Ghost jokes to lighten the mood a bit, knowing Soap knows that he takes this serious. "I think he would like to replace me." Ghost eyes turn dark at this filled with cold rage. "Think that's what all this is about. He knows he can't get Price out, so he targets me. Think about it, the shady interrogation on our home base with his own men. The 'important' mission for Roach that cant wait till Price and Beta team are back." "Thinks that would cause a public up roar, if ever found out. Maybe bad enough to get kicked out", Ghost concludes the atmosphere of the room took a 180 by now. "Fucking cunt", Ghost courses, making Soap laugh unamused. "When does Price come back?", Ghost asks the sooner Price is back the better. "22:00"

Ghost still sits in Soaps office, giving Riley all the attention that she wants. Being deep in thought, first his mind was occupied with their littel problem with Shepard. How he could kill him, slow and painful, so many good options for this too. The sad reality is that it has to look like a accident, maybe they could lead a false trace, but a quick accident something totally ordinary would be the safest choice. People died all the time falling down stairs or getting run over by a car. But after reading the complaints he is thinking about a good punishment for Meyers. "Soap?", Ghost asks in the comfortable silence. "Aye?", Soap answers not looking up from his papers. "How about the person that filed the complaint is chossing the punishment?", Ghost suggests making Soap look up. "If Price agrees, I don't see why not", Soap says with a smile. Soap is streaching his arms before standing up, getting Riley to walk to the door exited. "You're coming?", Soap ask leash in the hand. Ghost stands up needing to stretch himself after who knows long he sat on the chair.

They walk next to each other towards the forest, making sure they don't walk to close to each other. Riley pulling the leash the whole time very excited over her owner being back to walk her, more or less. Ghost looks over his shoulder the buildings of the base only small dots in the distance. He starts feeling nervous, its ridiculous being this nervous over what is is about to do. He carefully reaches out for Soaps hand, brushing there fingers against eachother. It could be seen as a radom touch, but Soap hooks his ring and littel finger with Ghosts. Both men smiling softly, it doesn't really fit them with what they do for work. They kill for a living but here they are holding hands walking Riley together it's disgustingly domestic. The cold persona of the Ghost is being pushed aside by Simon. It is strange after such a long time to be just Simon again. Its a bit overwhelming to feel so much emotionally, but the warmth of the intertwined fingers ground him. Riley stops at a tree sniffing it very intresteted. They turn to each other Ghost smile getting bigger when he sees the light pink blush on Soaps cheeks. Soap looks so soft at him before stepping closer. He puts both his hands at the seam of Ghost balacalava waiting, silently asking Ghost for permission. Soap carefully pulls the fabric up, stoping the the bridge of his nose. Soap licks over his lips needing some time flashing a shy smile at Ghost. Ghost huffs amused about the absurdity of them publicly wispering filthy promises to each other but getting all shy about holding hands and kissing. Soap opens his mouth to ask what's so funny, but Ghost is leaning in and the question is wipped out of Soaps brain. Soap closes the gap, pressing his lips against Ghost. It's shy kiss, but feels perfect for the peaceful moment. Soap presses his nose against Ghosts feeling like when he had his first kiss with Susie Prentes in 8th grade. The warm and giddy feeling of kissing someone you care about for the first time. He can't stop the big smile apearing on his face, humming pleased when he sees the mirroring smile on Simon.

Ghost thought by the record how all their interactions about what is in between them go, that their kiss would be filthy. Instead it was soft and tame, he's fucking gone by this simple gesture. All kisses Ghost had up to this point where part of getting ready to fuck, they where filthy, desperate and hungry. But this kiss was the exact opposite of this and they shouldn't kiss like this. Soft kisses and holding hands is something you do when you're in love. Love has no place in their line of work, only would end in disaster but he dont care. Seeing how Soap is looking and smiling at him, washes the cold loneliness away, sooths the need of 6 year-old Simon Riley to be loved. They kiss again the shyness washed away by the understanding they both feel the same. When Soap licks over his lips Ghost pulls away. "To much?", Soap asks. "No, but if we make out I might don't care if you fuck me in a forest on the ground with no lube", Ghost atmids blushing himself now. "Sounds good to me." Soaps eyes are sinfull to look at right now, how they are darkened and the pupils are a bigger then needed for the amount of rest day light. "Yeah, I think Riley would not like that", Ghost reminds Soap of why they are even in the forest. The tree long had stopped being interesting and Riley patiently sits to their feet, waiting. "Another time then", Soap jokes while shrugging his shoulders. "You're into this primal stuff Soap?", Ghost ask suprised before stepping away. Soap looks uterly confused by the question. "A primal kink Soap, like hunting someone before you fuck on the floor like animals for example", Ghost explains, seeing the moment when realisation is washing over Soap. Soap blushes at this before he starts walking again. The next time Soap is on leave he needs to do some research.

They are standing next to the air field waiting for Price to return. They need to talk with Price as soon as possible. It dark already so they would here the apraoching plane long before they see it. "Ghost?", Soap asks knowing that now is not the time or place but he needs to now. Ghost humms as answer turning towards Soap. "Are you into it?", Soap asks referring to their talk in the forest. "I'm into things that are part of it, but I wouldn't say I have it", Ghost answers their conversation covered up from unwanted eardropers by a starting helicopter. Soap nods at this starring in the night sky again to look for the plane. "You think you have it?", Ghost asks curious. "Don't known need to look it up first", Soap answers sounding a bit mortifyed. "Would you, I mean if I had it?", Soap asks nervously. Ghost keeps his answer for later because General Shepard is aproaching them. "Captain MacTavish, Lieutenant Riley", he greats them. "General", they answer in unison. "How long till they land?", Shepard asks. "10 minutes, Sir", Soap answers. This are the longest 10 minutes of Soaps life. When the airplane finally lands and an exhausted Price and Beta team emerged Shepard marche towards them. Ghost and Soap give each other warry side glances. Price says something that Shepard doesn't like because they end up arguing. It seems like Shepard lost the argument because he storms of angry. Price walks towards them. "Price", Soap greats him and Ghost gives him a nod. "What's going on with Shepard and why is he even here?", Price asks. "To cause trouble", Soap simply answers. "What did you do Soap?", Price asks tiered, like he dont have the mental energy to deal with this. "I declined two of his request that where very last minute", Soap gives the short answer. "We talk about this tomorrow." "Yes, Sir."

One of the aspects of my retelling that I've grown fond of is the reoccurring wet dreams Persephone has.

HEAR ME OUT!

They're not the typical sexy naked in a pool type deal. They're abstract and almost fantastical.

Persephone dreams herself a beast of the forest. A creature with antlers, a bear’s snout and snarl, with pelts of moss, grass, and flowers that obscure her eyes.

And Hades, to her, a shepard herding flocks of dead sheep who have lost all manner of themselves minus their wool.

She the monster and he the prize.

More random Headcanons of 141

And since I'm a horse girly, we gon add unnecessary amounts of equines (including my own)

Soap is the kinda guy who would love animals like no other, but with the same amount of knowledge as a chicken has about being a shark, you get me?

Ask the man to feed a cat, yES he will do so, but don't be surprised when you find the cat eating pizza.

Bestie says he would be the second half to my demonic stallion (I agree wholeheartedly)

While Soap and my good-for-nothing horse (his name is Legolas by the way... I *had* hopes when I named him... not anymore) would be partners in crime by unintentionally causing the most chaotic of accidents, baby stallion (whose name was almost Hades but I changed it to Leviathan) and Soap would *intentionally* cause the most chaos fathomable to the laws of physics.

Ghost, man... I would put him in a horse therapy group. You know what you do during equine therapy sessions?

You pet them

You brush them

Sometimes you go on a quick spin on them (definitely am not bitter that my family didnt put me in an equine therapy program as a kid, not me, not at all)

Ghost has a handful of cats he just randomly collects from the side of the road too. They got their own cat room, cat TV, couch, a bazillion cat beds in all shapes and forms and... indoor grown, well trimmed cat grass.

Gaz... I feel like he's one of those guys that like animals but dont seek them out? But when they befriend one, it's for LIFE and they will do anything for em?

Which makes him best friend material for dumbass Leggy (or the very pissy matriarch of my collection, Titan)

Rudy has a Banana Ball Python he named "Pasta". Alejandro is deadly afraid of her while Valeria is besties with her (it started off as her befriending danger noodle out of spite for Alejandro but turned into a true and beautifully sinister friendship).

Graves' grandpa is an old farmer and the brat defo helped him out on the ranch before. Boy is a proper cowboy.

And for that exact reason I would dare him to work with Titan (my pissy mare).

Dude will either become her new favorite human or learn physics like never before. 20/80, not in his favor.

I'd put Shepard on her too, especially when she's in one of her shitty moods. Couple that with his old values of "you break em and build em back up" and you got his death reciept guaranteed.

Alejandro loves cows. He wants a full ranch of em for the sole purpouse of cuddling, grooming and petting. I'm also feeling like he would be slightly intimidated by horses (lol especially the pissy one, who isnt tho. Also not helping that if he would be introfuced to mine... well I only have giants, no ponies or normally sized horses around my stables) so he'd either play farmer with a trusty old quad, should he ever settle down. Or he would get a sturdy lil Quarter pony, maybe even a Mustang (I totally see him as one of those "Wendy" girls, "wE hAvE suCh A StRoNg CoNNeCtIoN" those chicks? yeah he is one of em and he defo watched the movie Spirit, then went out and bought a Buckskin/Dun Mustang and named him Spirit too)

Since we're on the topic of "what horse do they ride", here's my own list: Alejandro and his sturdy lil Dun/Buckskin Spirit

Graves would ride his Gramps' old strawberry roan bronc named "Bob" who's probs been considered old before Graves was even born and yet he's still going strong

Shepard, god I hate this guy, he gets a good old American Saddlebred, Chestnut, constantly looks like she's on the acid trip of her life (I find saddlebreds' expressions so fucken entertaining, 10/10) and her name is "Sandy"

Soap gets a Haflinger to A) deal with his bullshit like a champ and B) add to the crazies. The name is probably "Alastaire". Haflingers only come in flaxen chestnut (varying in shade, rarely pure chestnut) so there u go for the colour

RUDY MY LOVE gets a Criollo, suitable in location and even more suitable in their firey nature. defo has an Overo/Sabino Roan+Buckskin Paint named "Fernandito". Fernandito is a cool dude, only scared of Chihuahuas tho.

Valeria has a GIGANTIC Lusitano Stallion, either pitch black with mean eyes or a golden chestnut Pearl with green ones (yes they do actually have green-ish eyes sometimes) His name is something like "Gladiolus" or "Cor Leonis" any FF15 fans eh?

Ghost... I think he probs walked in to an auction once bc he saw a sign and found a scared little ugly duckling, felt a connection and bought him for like 300 bucks (basically Leggy's OG story, that's why I thought these two would click) His name is "Spooky" and he's a blue roan dun with a white face and blue eyes

Gaz first took over his neighbor's shetland after she passed away and then decided, fuck it, and went out to buy another horse as a companion. Now, I would believe he's the kinda guy who would pay top buck for whatever he wants. And he decided on a top grade low 6 figure Warmblood he imported from Germany with the likes of Donnerhall, Franziskus, Totilas and Quarterback all stuffed into his pedigree which made one(1) dangly silky coated long noodle. The shetty is probably a lump of semi white-ish furr named "Chickeb Nugget" and the Warmblood is probably a basic ass bay, 4 white socks named "Kevin". He has an official name (something like "dancing shadows" or "Donner's Hall" or whatever other whackey play on speech the germans come up with) but that name was too official for Kyle so he only calls his 6 FIGURE HORSE "Kevin". Extra brownie points when he exclusively goes on walks with the two of them and gets dragged regularly by Nugget. Not even rides Kevin, let alone have other people ride or even compete him ... no, Kevin, top grade dressage horse, spends his days in the field, caked in mud and living his 6 figure life.

Also Gaz bought all the top grade gear and stuff for his furr babies. 6k saddle that he never uses? Check. Custom made Bridles that he too does not ever use? Check. A collection of saddlepads, leg protection and fly bonnets that would make This Esme go pale? double check. 12 thousand blankets for any change in temperature (even for the hermetically sealed Nugget)? Check. Monthly checkup by the chiro/massage therapist, visits to an aqua trainer, top grade supplements and only bio apples and carrots for Nugget and Kevin? Check Check and Check. A 80k horse box to drive them around once every blue moon? check, he also had it custop wrapped with their pictures on it.

Price gets an icelandic horse. They are pretty small ranging from 125cm to 150cm but incredibly sturdy and strong, meaning, the PERFECT CAMPING BUDDY. Plus Icelandic Horses can eat fish so Price has someone to feed the fish he catches to lol. I immagine that he got an averagely sized 140cm tall girl he named „Fish“ because A) he loves fishing and B) „Fish“ likes to eat fish (premium dad joke right there). Fish is a silver dapple (they are super rare and hella cool) with so much hair that Price either puts in an ugly ass braid or just all together ties it to the side.

For Laswell I’m torn between a tennessee walker or a friesan, so lets just say she has both. The tennessee walker is a proper golden palomino (a real ass barbie horse) and her name is Jodie. Jodie has one braincell. The friesan I immagine is a big boy, and since friesans only come as black, he‘s black. His name is „The dark Emperor“ and is primarily Kate‘s wife‘s horsey, they nickname him dumbo because he got unreasonably large ears. Dumbo and Jodie share her braincell and are the perfect „old married horse couple“.

König my man. His uncle took over the family‘s farm and König used to help out by driving the horse cart around and such. He found a Noriker mare at a market once and immediately fell in love and bought her. She now vibes at his uncle‘s farm with the cows and occasionally will help out with the local forest work (pulling tree trunks in remote areas). He named her „Sissi“, sometimes calls her „Punktle“ tho (little dot) and she’s a dotted thicc chick. They have a shaby old horse trailer that is basically a metal frame with old moldy wood and a rug as a roof, Sissi doesn‘t complain tho, she once trailered on the back of his pickup. She‘s also the town‘s favorite pony to ride when they do a town fare (She gets beer afterwards as a reward).

Roach found the shittiest OTTB out there and said „That one is perfect, I take it“. This thing has more issues than Payboy magazine. GIGANTIC and skinny as shit, suuuper hard to gain weight and has one mental meltdown after another but Roach deals phenominally with it. Her name is probably „Roach“ as an homage to his own callsign but also to „The Witcher“ lol. Roach is a dull brown kind of bay.

Farah gets an Arabian Mare no Qs asked. A dark liver chestnut, absolutely stunning, looks like she‘s coloured with dried blood and her name is Safanad after the mare from King Solomon‘s legend. Fiesty around anyone but Farah and loyal to a T. Absolutely hates the feeling of gras tho lol.

Alex I immagine would get himself a Fjord and go camping with Price with it. He named her „Mjölnir“ after Thor‘s hammer, since Fjords are a Norwegian breed but can‘t pronounce her name so he just calls her Milly instead for short (And to save himself the embarassement). Milly is a simple creature, give her food, water, somewhere to sleep and she‘ll be beyond content. He defo got her a whole western rig, but rides her bitless in a ropehalter because he tried a bit once and she was so upset with him, she didn‘t accept treats for a week (Sounds familliar to me lol). Mjölnir is a typical dun, as all Fjords are, but I immagine her to be slightly darker and after living out his „Fjord roached mane“ phase, let the mane grow out into a messy fluff.

I went overboard again lol… never mind, I think I will do some more hc‘s along the lines of „What kinda X does Y have?“

I thought instead of five fic Friday, I'd go ahead and rec some of my favorite fics I've read this year.

A Young God's Heartbeat by @luddlestons. Thanatos x Zagreus (M). A modern AU in which Zagreus is a good Midwestern boy going on an impromptu road trip with the god of death while his father tries to murder him.

Reap the Whirlwind by @stripyjamjar. Thanatos x Zagreus (M). Zagreus was raised by his grandmother in a secluded garden, but that doesn't stop Thanatos from stumbling on him and striking up a friendship. Upon learning of his parents, Zagreus breaks into Hades to find them.

Cantata by @swaps55. M!Shepard x Kaidan (M). Almost 200k words of Mass Effect prequel and hopeless pining on the part of Kaidan Alenko. Action, adventure, found family, and space cadets in love.

regreso el amor by artifice. Achilles x Patroclus (M). A short fic of music, growing up together, and pining between friends.

Twin Flames by @johaerys-writes. Achilles x Patroclus (E). Patroclus is the squire to his best friend, the Prince of Phthia, who left him behind for years. Now he faces icy silence and icy conditions as he accompanies him to his wedding.

Fugue by @swaps55. M!Shepard x Kaidan (M). About a month into their relationship, the Normandy is attacked. Some of the best angst I've read, and the chapter on the Normandy going down is honestly a must-read.

Face to Face by @juliafied. Thanatos x Zagreus (M). After Zagreus disappeared while Thanatos was in college, he swipes him on a dating app. The result is so bitter and awkward and petty and delightful. Good luck, boys.

When Death Incarnate got banished to France by Marro. Thanatos x Zagreus (G). Thanatos is banished to live among mortals. It goes about as well as you'd expect. He gets a cat. It's adorable.

On the Ropes by @redsmear. Patroclus x Zagreus x Achilles (E). Zagreus picks up a boxing coach and a new Dom at the same time. No reason to believe they know each other or that the angst will have you staring listlessly out a window for hours.
