Since top 3 wouldn't be appropriate enough for Sirius being multishippable, I want to ask about your top 10 Sirius ships

Ooooooooooh what an excellent idea! He truly is the fandom bicycle.

So I rotate Sirius/Remus, Sirius/James, and Sirius/James/Remus in my brain on a constant basis like a chicken on a rotisserie. They're probably the top three slots, although that does change depending on the day.

Next up is Sirius/Kingsley - there's something delicious about the man in charge of the hunt for Sirius Black actually fucking him in secret and sending his aurors on wild goose chases all over the world.

Sirius/Bill and Sirius/Charlie are also delicious - they're scandalously young but also extremely hot. Bill with his curse breaking and his earring, Charlie with his thick forearms and his dragon wrangling - both are excellent partners for him.

Sirius/Bellatrix - I LOVE the headcanon that they were betrothed as children, and also Sirius fucking an older woman is very hot. He deserves to hatefuck her, and I also headcanon that he lost his virginity to her. Sirius/Rosmerta is also great for this reason - I do think that she's older than him.

Sirius/Ginny and Sirius/Cedric - let's talk about Sirius fucking Harry's exes, or even stealing them form him. Mmmmmmm delicious (sorry Harry). I can also get on the Sirius/Fleur train because @arliedraws is amazing at getting me to ship things I didn't want to, lol.

I have previously said both the scene in Murder Husbands where you find out Remus is living in the walls and his ticky-tocks...Lemme see if I can think of a third. Hmm...oh! This is from a future Hatefuck, but I love this line a lot: "They don't do this, they don't do sincerity. Truths are usually pulled like teeth from swollen mouths."

25. a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read

I literally have read so many bangers this year, but I'm gonna go with one I read recently, and that's Let's Play Pretend by MsAlexWP. It's just so lovely. I read it three times in the span of three weeks. Basically wolfstar are each single dads raising their kids (Harry & Teddy respectively) when a hilarious chance meeting leads to a fake dating scenerio. My favourite characters in this story are the old ladies in Sirius' building that are stalking him. This also has one of my all time favourite Remuses. I think the summary at the start of the fic says it all: “I’m so, so sorry,” the man continued, wiping a bead of sweat from the side of his temple with the sleeve of his faded Blondie t-shirt. He wore ripped black jeans and black and white Chuck Taylors and had his own messy curls, just like the baby. “I had no idea Teddy would be such a handsy little fucker at these story times, but he’s always grabbing… fuck, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t say fuck in the children’s room. Shit, I did it again, I’m so sorry, I don’t know what the fuck is wrong with me.” It's funny. It's fluffy. It's hot. It's got a smidge of angst, but it's resolved quickly and I would recommend it to everyone.

Adelier was a weapon of a man: hard as a stave, stubborn as a bolt stuck in a clavicle, as piercing about the eyes as the two ugly swords on his back. Upon their first meeting, Bastion had noticed those swords before anything else. A pair of them? Even a spellwright knew it was foolish to have both hands harried by weapons rather than carry a blade and buckler, or parrying knife. Was the idiot so arrogant?

“Where is he?” Bastion asked today, entering the side chapel designated for their meeting and seeing only the Soud, “I don’t have time for you.”

“I’ll have to do,” Adelier answered, flickering his attention from a newspaper to the entering Black Tongue. Bastion felt well-sodden by those hateful, piss-coloured eyes. “Besides,” he continued, “There’s nothing left for him to say to you. The plot is settled, the date is in stone, and unless you’ve lost your nerve or decided you can’t do what’s demanded, what more is there to discuss?”

“Payment,” snapped Bastion, “I would have all of it. Now.”

“Creditors breathing down your neck?”

“Something like that.” Bastion fingered the torc at his throat, habitually moved to readjust it. Of course the yoke of Silver hadn’t budged in ten years. Its reaching wires made themselves known; the familiar sting and tug beneath his skin. Adelier regarded it, and his contempt was searing.

“The arrangement’s settled, Ilgan Yag. Remove yourself from this sacred place if you’re only here to whinge for coin like a needy whore.”

“I have expenses,” said Bastion reasonably, ”I’d as well explain cookery to a coon hound as my art to some pissmop soldier, but I must procure an assistant and several rare Materials. This operation will not be as simple as retooling a fucking plod mask.”

Something ticked in the Soud’s jaw; some twitch of emotion that would have lost him money at the gambling hall. Bastion laughed to see it. Two swords. Two swords! “Write it all out,” Adelier said, swallowing, and dropping his eyes, “I will pass it along.”

The sudden vulnerability was a heady fragrance pulling Bastion forward; a break in the impatient soldier’s facade. The boy was so young, really. Soud were an opaque people, but still transparent in their way. There was no subtle dance of etiquette to tease out their age. It was always naked on their face and their body. This Soud was so, so young - a green hedgeapple, hard, wooden, but newly formed and far from ripe. Bastion wanted to bare his teeth against him, see how hard he’d have to bite down to break skin.

He crossed the room. As he walked, Bastion felt wires crinkle like hands around his hips. Did the wires trace his movements? Or were they strings commanding his puppet limbs? Ah, how long had it been since the difference was even discernible!

Coiled, Adelier didn’t flinch as Bastion neared. The Black Tongue raised his hand and faintly touched the curve of his wicked nails to the sharp plane of the other man’s cheek. Adelier looked like he wanted to strike him, but Bastion knew he wouldn’t. He was needed. “I like you much better,” he laughed, tucking a few strands of blond behind his ear, “She does not share my opinion, but that only makes me like you more. You would have been a Black Tongue in another life. You’d sacrifice anything to get what you want. You would become anything it needed you to become.”

“It’s not about what I want.”

Bastion sighed and rolled his eyes to the ceiling. “You don’t have a very high opinion of Ssael, do you? Is he so helpless that you must do all his work for him? You must scheme and plot and guess at his wishes rather than trust him to operate in his own time frame?”

“Such trust easily becomes an excuse for inaction and sloth. I’ve seen it in Shadwe Grandvin-”

Bastion murmured something just beyond audibility, and darted forward as Adelier spasmed backwards. The soldier reached for one of those ugly swords but Bastion’s pymary was too swift. The Soud’s muscles seized up, his yellow eyes fluttered, and Bastion caught him like a knight catching a swooning damsel in one of those ridiculous courtyard plays. He slid a knee forward so Adelier bonelessly straddled it as he dropped, and then Bastion collapsed his lips atop his own.

Purple weed, wine, warm and sweaty masculinity. Bastion drank deeply of him, crushing his shoulders to the chapel wall and grinding his prick against his knee. Adelier didn’t return the kiss but he made no noise of protest either. Bastion felt him straining against the brief paralysis, left strength enough only to brace his legs and back, but even his head listed on his neck. Bastion seized his face. He dragged his teeth over his cheek, bit his jaw hard enough to mark it, chewed the rough late afternoon gold sprouted there and reflected on its flavour.

“I’ll take fine care of you,” Bastion whispered, exulting. The soldier’s lips were turning blue. His paralyzed frame couldn’t draw a breath, “You and your... one... two...” Bastion worked his knee thoughtfully against the other’s crotch and snorted with mirth, ”Three swords.”

Desperation seized the Soud in a violent paroxysm. Bastion ended the spell. A trail of inky nothingness broke from his body like his shadow, and Bastion sailed away upon it, leaving the Soud to drop to his knees and gasp for air.

17 Your favorite character to write this year?

I’ve only written Drarry this year (as opposed to when I've, uh, written Scorbus and Jeddy I guess), and most of my fics haven’t included many other characters. So if I’m going to choose between my different iterations of them, I think I want to say I most enjoyed to write Draco in The secret language of flowers, because it was so fun to write him in denial, scheming to “piss Potter off”, and then when that fails spectacularly, he turns around and takes advantage of the situation like the Slytherin he is. (I’ll happily admit that I also enjoyed writing Harry in this fic, being cunning and totally manipulating Draco to where he wants him).

18 The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?

I’d say that it was both Draco and Harry, but this time for the fic Thunderstruck that I wrote for HP Drizzle fest. It’s been a hot minute since I wrote proper hatefucking, and I found it difficult to write that balance between lust and hate and have it move from throwing insults to fucking in the quidditch locker room shower. But in the end I finally managed to come up with a satisfying (heh) solution, and I had tremendous help from @sassy-sassy3 @mystickitten42 and @fictional cheering me on.

Remus suffers through an Easter brunch with his parents and a couple of aunties he sees approximately once every five years, and it's all very awkward and stilted, so he returns to Crowley's flat in a bad mood. Crowley cheers him up with a blowjob, and then Remus gives him a handjob, and then they both fall asleep curled in each other's arms and thinking about their respective exes. At least they are warm and cozy and got to have a couple of orgasms.

Aziraphale spends the day out doing blessings and good and whatnot, but it just puts him in a foul mood, because Crowley isn't there beside him to make snarky remarks and then take him to a fancy Easter brunch with lots of mimosas and other fizzy alcoholic drinks. Sirius, meanwhile, was invited by Harry and Ginny to spend Easter with the Weasleys this year, and while he'll do anything just to spend more time with his godson, he's in a bad mood after spending the afternoon with Molly nitpicking him. Neither of them are in the mood for even an angry hatefuck, but they also don't want to spend the night alone, so they fall asleep in the bed in Aziraphale's flat above the bookshop with their backs to each other.

Reading

Finished reading Snapecase fics. Lots of awesome Snape fics. You can read them on AO3. Need to write comments but that’s going to be a March project.

Read the latest updates on The Afterlight. I am not really a WIP reader but PI’s fics are my one big exception. Like give me a good reason not to read 10K of hot Snarry mess updates. Gosh they are so messed up and perfect.  Need to write a comment which is not just GUH!!

Started catching up with Danni’s prolific February. Gray Eyes (Tell No Lies) is the hottest Draco/Sirius I have read. Also Hatefuck is perfect Snarry vibes. Also Lovestruck has tons of possessive Harry which is one of my favorite things ever. Plus it’s set in Contemptverse, my fav Snarry fic of 2022!!  HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Started reading ALOTO series Love & Baseball by Billsfangearring who had a prolific February with some amazing fics. Also behind on commenting.

Finished group crying with some HotD friends about the last cut piece from eldritcher’s Ossuarium. This was pretty emotional because the fic was so huge for us in the last few months. Also respect for eldritcher who not only completed 250K of the formal fic in like 2 months but also posted every single last cut/draft when folks requested it...which was an additional 320K. So we got 570K of Ossuarium and it’s honestly the best thing I have read. Sometimes fics drag on for too long or kind of drag in the beginning/middle/towards the end. Ossuarium is super compact despite the word count and doesn’t really have a single dragging moment. Absolutely phenomenal. I was also personally really sad to see it ending because eldritcher has been pretty vocal for months that this is the last symphonic cycle they are doing in fic which is why they went above and beyond. I hope that’s not the case. But it’s definitely the best series I have read. It was super thrilling to follow it from the beginning. Also really behind on commenting

I saw Cocaine Bear! Life changing. Is it any good? Nope. But it’s definitely more fun compared to MCU anything. YMMV of course.

Also finished reading The Furrows by Namwali Sepwell. Actually if you like imagery/poetry you are probably going to like this book. I liked the first half but I feel like it didn’t really emotionally connect with me after that. Which is pretty unexpected because normally I am a sucker for this type of prose. Maybe I need to read it again sometime. 

RL has been busy so I am just kind of behind on fandom stuff.  Layoffs at work but I kept my job for now which is nice. Super busy and somehow doing more work to compensate for the folks laid off... Also into capitalism sucks memes right now for some reason :D

Rating Harry Potter Ships, Part One

I have decided to share my unwarranted opinion about Harry Potter ships. Feel free to suggest more ships for me to rate, ask me to elaborate on my opinion for a ship, or even debate me about my rating. Who knows, maybe you'll change my mind.

Draco x Harry:

4.5/10

Pre war would be enemies/rivals to lovers where they come across each other 'accidentally' in back hallways and empty classrooms and end up making out or hatefucking until someone comes a little too close to catching them and it freaks them out and Draco would say something like 'don't mention this to anyone' but Harry would still tease him and make innuendos around other people, confusing both their friends, until finally they get together and eventually come out to their friends.

Post War I feel like it would be one of those heat of the moment things, like we're really the only two who understand each other because we were in similar situations and now we're both depressed and craving comfort so let's meet up to have sex while barely talking to each other otherwise. Very toxic, Draco would probably be jealous and borderline emotionally abusive, and Harry would be depressed and emotionally fragile. Both those boys need at least a decade of therapy before he pursues a romantic relationship.

Sirius x Remus

Same as before. I was obsessed until a couple months ago but I've sort of grown out of them. I think of Sirius in the same light as Draco. Needs therapy and would be too toxic for the kind of relationship Remus deserves after everything he's been through but with the being said

Remus x Tonks

My reason for not shipping this isn't because I think Remus and Tonks are both queer (I do think Remus and Tonks are queer, that's just not why I don't like Remadora). It's because if Tonks was 2 years younger she would have been Remus' student which is all fine and dandy for fantasies or roleplaying but in all actuality Teacher/Student relationships cause a severe power imbalance and it would be incredibly ignorant on Remus' half to partake in such a relationship. Not to mention it just feels pedophilic, even if she's over 18.

James x Lily

Perfect, beautiful, couldn't ask for anything better, yes yes yes yes yes! This is my favorite canon ship and I believe the two of them are soulmates.

Hermione x Ron

Now I am on the fence about this ship. I used to think Ron was immature and childish, the kind of spouse that would want a traditional relationship from Hermione (you're the wife so you do the chores and raise the kids and I'll go to work) but after reading some Romione fanfic <3<3<3 Himbo simp supporting his genius wife. Love to see it.

Hermione x Draco

No. Worse than Drarry. I cannot stand Dramione. My biggest thing is he literally calls her a slur on multiple occasions, which is not husband material. Also, like with Drarry, he needs therapy not a significant other. Maybe they could be friends years down the road once Draco has grown and matured and finally apologizes for all the shit he did to her as kids.

Harry x Ginny

They're cute. They're alright. They're like Jily and I love them for that. But they're like... the Target version of Jily. Not quite the Walmart version but definitely not the original. I think they would be cute together though, and Harry would be the supportive husband Ginny deserves.

I don't hate it but I don't like it either. I think they're the kind of people who would try dating each other because they're so close and then after like 3 weeks they break it off mutually and become lifelong bestfriends. With that being said, in a world where Ron and Ginny don't exist I could see Harry and Hermione getting married for the marriage benefits.

13. A song that doesn't make sense on the playlist without a long explanation

Oooh this is a good one. I put Kiwi by Harry Styles on Hatefuck Sequel playlist...not because of the lyrics like I would usually do, but because of the vibe? I dunno, I can picture them fucking to that song so easily for some reason. Same thing with Rush by Troye Sivan. I listened to that song on hella repeat while I was writing the smut... The playlist for museum is VERY vibey. A lot of the songs on there are for the vibes alone, and might not make sense lyrically. Moments by Beach Fossils has no real lyrics other than vocalizations, but it is on there cause it fits the vibe and also the name of the band suits the fic.
