In the anime's canon, Asaki Fueguchi used to be involved with Yamori in the 13th ward. I guess it was never said he was a white suit specifically, but I personally always interpreted it that way.
Imagine Naki recognizing Hinami's last name, and he looks out for her on behalf of his old comrade. She tells him that her dad was killed by doves, and he mourns Asaki Fueguchi like all his other fallen men. He even invites her to join the white suits. (She'd probably decline, since she's a pacifist, but maybe post-canon she'd reconsider joining)

Eid Mubarak everyone! Some Tokyo Ghoul Halalverse headcanons for the day and some for this month! A lot of these are courtesy of @backgroundcharacterno7 <3
Haise spends his Eid morning stress cooking he forgets to read his verses at least bc he couldn’t go to Eid prayer. If henna is involved Saiko is smudging that shit to play Project Diva on her PSP. Mutsuki is helping Haise in the kitchen to manage the stress and has a hard dysphoria day going to the masjid. Urie would try to work out extra hard after sehri/suhoor and passes out.
Furuta is banned from the masjid because he keeps shouting “I HAVE A BOMB”, sister Rize is nowhere to be found because he cannot lower his gaze.
Hysy Artmask Studio makes bank on chaandrat because he’s doing everyone’s mehendi. Itori reveals a little more skin the more the next Muslim dudebro asks her to wear the hijab.
Eto probably didn’t even bother to celebrate because she’s like “I didn’t even fast all month” but gets push from Hinami and maybe Naki. Naki is still trying to recite Surahs as we speak. It’s going just as well as you think.
Kimi is fighting the WhatsApp aunties all Ramadan, Nishiki keeps trying to lecture Touka about the hijab only to get strangled with one. Hinami and Touka are the ones that have to take care of all the kids on Eid, and at least gets them candy or coffee in smaller doses.
Ayato tried to sit around food throughout his fasts to prove how much of a tough guy he is.
Juuzou goes to Eid prayer and parties for food, Hanbee has to watch him before someone tries to tell Juuzou to move to the ladies section and about how permissible his stitches are. Hanbee is also left to single parent on Eid.

My love for Tokyo Ghoul.
Tumblr media
I cannot express how much I love Tokyo Ghoul.
I finished my first reread last Saturday, and I’ve been experiencing classic TG brainrot. There has been so much going through my mind related to TG and I wanted to put it all down, somewhere, anywhere. I thought jotting it down into a tumblr post might be nice. I haven’t ever done this before, and I often find it hard to put all of my thoughts and feelings into words. Honestly, I didn’t expect everything to hit as hard as it did compared to when I first read TG. Considering I already knew the major reveals and plot points, I didn’t think they would make me feel the same way they did on my first experience, but I was very wrong. From start to finish, I loved every bit of it, probably even more than I did on my first read. Remembering the main aspects of the story and the different arcs and plot points actually gave me the chance to focus on and appreciate everything about TG so much more. Be it the characters or the art or the themes and symbolism. Also, I definitely think reading it at a slower pace helped, considering I bingeread it the first time. Without a doubt, Tokyo Ghoul is my favourite piece of fiction ever.
Tokyo Ghoul had everything I could ask for. The aspect of TG that I treasure most is the cast. It has a wonderful, wonderful group of characters. I can’t emphasize how much I love the TG cast. I probably have a special spot for almost every single one, at least among the significant characters. Be it Hinami, Tsukiyama, Hide, Eto, Juzo, Urie, Amon, Saiko, Akira, Nishiki, Takizawa, Renji, Ayato, Arima.. Ishida just presented them in a way where I could do nothing but be heavily invested in them. I can’t really think of any other manga that made me love the characters this much. Granted that stories like One Piece, HxH, JJK, and Jigokuraku each have an amazing cast with characters I love, I just feel different about the characters in Tokyo Ghoul. It might be because of the deep level of empathy I developed for each one of the characters? Maybe I could better relate to or understand what they went through? I personally think Tokyo Ghoul combined fiction with reality so well. When I say fiction, I mean in the sense of fantasy. When I read manga like One Piece, I feel immersed in the world and it takes me out of reality when I’m reading. Even for manga in real world settings, such as JJK, I get so caught up in the outwordly story that I don’t really have a grapse on reality. What I’m trying to say is that with TG, I really felt that many things depicted in the story were directly applicable to the real world we live in. It gave us a two-sided story where we constantly had a perspective of the Investigator and Ghoul world, and how their actions impact everything. It felt like this could be something happening in real life. In fact, many things shown in the manga are happening in real life but in the context of only humans. I’ll probably elaborate on that further after I finish talking about the characters or on another post. What I noticed is that I grew so much more fond of some characters I grew during this reread, who I didn’t really care much about before. Ui, Hanbeh, Hirako, Naki, Hairu, Hsiao.. I could go on. One of Ishida’s many strengths is his character writing and development. Kaneki is on a special tier of his own, to the point where I would say he is the best written character in manga. It might be a stretch for some, but the complexity and depth of Ken Kaneki is just something I haven’t gotten over since I first read TG. Aside from our MC, the way Ishida developed our side cast was amazing. Notably, I felt the strongest character arcs (aside from Touken) over the course of two parts were Arima, Eto, Suzuya, Amon, Shuu, Hinami, and Yomo. In relation to :re, Urie and Mutsuki probably had my favourite character arcs. Every character got a share of magic. On the reread, I got to appreciate certain characters a lot more.
The concept of investigators coming from the Hakubi Garden piqued my interest in Hairu, Hsiao, and Squad 0. I barely noticed them when I first read TG. When Hairu debuted, I had no clue she would be such a menace with her quinque. My first impression was that she was a cute and mysterious airhead. When she faced Matsumae and the others for the first time, I was blown away by her skills. Arima was very different, as he was built up constantly throughout the entire story. Kishou was literally named the “Reaper”, I don’t know what else you could to build that lethal, frightening aura he had. When I saw Hairu battle with such ease, I was instantly a fan. In an exagerrative sense, it felt like we were somewhat seeing a female version of Arima. That is where I really understood how special these Hakubi Garden children were. My appreciation for Squad 0 jumped up from then on. Hirako, similarly to Ui, had my attention from the 20th ward anteiku battle, and I really liked the bigger role he had to play in :re. Hsiao was the “new” quinx that immediately grabbed my attention. I loved her character design and reading that she came from the Garden meant I was going to read in joy whenever she was action. Hairu and Hsiao gave me some of my fav moments during the Rosé and Dragon arcs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ayato is someone I absolutely love after the reread. The way he matured reminds me a lot of Urie, although each of them did so differently. When we first met Ayato pre time skip, I couldn’t think of him as anything but an annoying rat. He wasn’t nice, he was aggresive, and I can’t really blame him because he was just one of many victims of the cruel world. I immediately caught onto how much Ayato had grown by TG :re. The panel where he tells the Torso, in calm and reasonable fashion, that him and his gang are nicer than the other Aogiri ghouls. I instantly remembered how he told Kaneki the same exact thing while he was repeatedly kicking him. The contrast in how Ayato acted in these two situations made it clear that Ayato had changed, from someone filled with rage and violence to someone composed and rational. Renji did say, during his fight with Arima, that the Kirishima siblings were like their mother - out of control. Touka undergoes a similar transition. I understood that both of them had let go of the past, which previously filled their hearts with hatred and anger. All his future actions and mannerisms displayed further showed us that Ayato has really grown up. I definitely think that Hinami played a key part in helping Ayato change. When Ayato first met Hinami, he still seemed somewhat unapproachable, like he was when he dealt with Kaneki. When Ayato got angry at her and Hinami laughed, it was probably the start of a new path for Ayato. Similarly to Touka, I felt that he was dealing with the despair of being alone in a cruel world. Parents gone, sister not there. Ayato dealt with it different to how Touka did, but they both felt alone and angry. Hinami gave Ayato the opportunity to feel that warmth he was missing - to fill that void in his heart, similarly to how Kaneki did with Touka. I could talk a lot more about Ayato. “Keep going Kaneki” will always give me goosebumps. He had accepted Kaneki, not only as his King, but as his brother in law.
Tumblr media
I was dragged into getting all sympathetic and attached to Naki. He might be “bros” with that psychopath Jason, but I just couldn’t shake off how I felt about him. The loyalty he showed was second to none. Whether it was that panel of him mumbling his comrades names or when he protected Miza or when he pledged loyalty to the One Eyed King, on top of the fact hes a goofball, I couldn’t help but like the guy. I won’t forget how he improved his vocab through reading because Ken advised his people to do so.
The Quinxes shined ever so brightly, which I expected as I only had good memories of them from the first time I read TG :re. Every single Quinx left a lasting impression on me. All for different reasons. I could talk constantly about each Quinx. Kuki Urie, who had one of the best character arcs I’ve ever seen in animanga, will always be a hero for me. I cannot get over how he turned from an egotistical and self centered dog to a considerate and thoughtful leader. What I really loved about Urie is that his character development was extremely visible. You noticed it in the story and you would notice how you changed from “I hate this dude” to “I love him!”. So much about him had changed, which was conveyed through even the smallest details. I noticed how little he would smile before losing Shirazu, and how much more he smiled when he became Qs leader. That moment where Urie just smiles at the sight of Saiko crying tears of joy after finding out Maman is still alive is so heartwarming. Saiko is the most precious character in TG. I could not get enough of how adorable she was. When she saved Urie after framing out, when she saved Mutsuki on the dragon, when she was hugging Maman when he was still in a coma, or when she was holding Touka’s hand as they waited for Ken to return. On top of giving us heartfelt moments, she was incredible with her kagune and I’m so glad she was the Quinx who had the ability of using her kagune so freely, I felt it really suited her character. Toru Mutsuki probably has one of the creepiest character arcs I’ve ever seen. Normally, I don’t get too affected by fictitious violence, in the sense that I don’t let it lurk in my mind later, but I just could not get over Mutsuki and her story. Chapter 79. No exagerration, Chapter 79 is one of the most sickening and provoking chapters I’ve ever read. Pre Rushima, I loved Mustuki. She reminded me so much of Kaneki before he had met Jason and tragedy occured. The parallels between Mutsuki and Kaneki were very clear throughout the story, even during Rushima and especially during Chapter 79. I could say so much about what that chapter meant and how it made me feel. Kaneki was an example of someone who was able to overcome his demons, whereas Mutsuki was an example of someone who couldn’t. She went onto an absolutely hopeless path as some sort of psychopath which was really painful to see. I could talk endlessly about Mutsuki. As a character, I love her as much as many of my favs. Urie and Mutsuki are perfect examples of side characters that just stick to your mind. I hadn’t read TG in two years, but whenever someone talks about well-written side characters, they spring to mind.
Tumblr media
Furuta was an unbelievable antagonist. Ishida managed to create the TG version of the Joker. Nimura managed to be evil and heartless while running a troll gimmick. I couldn’t help but laugh at his trolling, even in the most serious situations. In addition to the Joker, he reminded me of Aizen. The fact that he has basically planned everything that has happened in the plot, from the moment he dropped the steel beams to the moment Ken eats all of the Oggai, was just so Aizen-esque. As bad as Furuta was, his backstory still broke my heart. The despair he felt stemmed from the world he had to live in and he decided to destroy it all.
Tumblr media
I just have to leave a special mention in this post for Tsukiyama and Hinami. I adore both of them, especially with how :re went on and concluded.
Tumblr media
Kaneki and Touka have a special place in my heart forever. I absolutely adore them and I love them so much. My favourite characters in all of fiction. I can write pages of what I feel and think about them. My sweet eyepatch and darling rabbit. Ishida gave them royalty treatment in every way possible. Everytime they were together in a panel, my heart just filled up with joy.
Tumblr media
TG art is unrivaled. I haven’t and I doubt I will ever come across anything with art like this. It just isn’t something you can replicate or imitate. Every drawing manages to convey different feelings and ideas.. I never truly understood the beauty of art until I read Tokyo Ghoul. It isn’t just a drawing or depiction of a certain scenario. It bursts out at you with emotion. There are obviously other manga which have got amazing art. Berserk and Vagabond come to mind. I just feel TG art contains so many thought and emotion provoking layers to it while simultaneously being aesthetically pleasing. The art is obviously one of the main appeals of TG. You could pull almost any panel and I guarantee it would look amazing. A panel may provoke fear, sadness, despair, joy, amazement, or a bundle of different emotions in you when looking at it. Chapter 145 is a perfect example. An entire chapter with no speech at all. An entire chapter of nothing but beautiful spreads and panels depicting the destructive and chaotic nature of the dragon. “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
Tumblr media
What I really love about Tokyo Ghoul and what I believe attracts me to it the most are the themes and ideas that Ishida is constantly trying to convey, and how so many of them are directly applicable to the real world. Tokyo Ghoul gave me so many life lessons on so many different things. Whether it was related to loneliness, relationships, discrimination, inner peace, normalcy in life, the purpose of life and moving forward. It all comes to mind when reading TG. Each theme or idea is obviously interconneted with the others, and I really feel that they’re directly applicable to the world we live in. We obviously don’t have to deal with ghouls, but many of the struggles and conflicts that our beloved characters faced reminded me of the things we face in our everyday lives. I could relate to some of the things that they showed in the manga in relation to these ideas. “This world is wrong.” I haven’t come across any line in anime or manga that stuck with me like this did, until I read :re. “The world isn’t wrong. It just is.” The way grey morality was depicted in TG in relation to what is right or wrong is an issue I feel strongly exists in our world, especially in today’s day and age. This is probably because the setting and events in Tokyo Ghoul remind me so much of the things happening in our world. TG just had the perfect mix of fiction and reality. I was immersed in a different world that was filled with ghouls and humans while somewhat keeping me linked to reality. I don’t really know how to put it into words. If I had to explain it, I guess it kept me fully engaged in this fictional setting where ghouls existed, where I would just constantly think about and get anxious, sad, or excited over the characters. At the same time, the events and dialogue taking place in the story constantly made me go back and think about the real world and how it relates or applies to reality. I was absorbed by this fictitious world while always thinking about how it relates to our world.
I just have to mention how special the writing and storytelling in TG is. I noticed such things individually and got to do my research on them, in addition to discovering other aspects to his writing and drawings from reddit. In Tokyo Ghoul, it was clear from the start that every single panel, drawing and piece of dialogue served a purpose. There was always some sort of significance to whatever Ishida was showing us. A panel could include either subtle details in his art, such as the constant tarot card hints or the habits the characters had like Kaneki touching his chin or Mutsuki clenching her arm. A panel could directly imply something, such as making a literature reference. This added more depth in relation to the story, the characters and what Ishida wanted to convey through various methods of symbolism. Reading about the context of the tarot cards, literature references and metaphors made the story much more interesting. It helped us understand the TG characters on a deeper level in terms of what themes they symbolize and what role in the story they represent.
I feel like I’ve written a good share on Tokyo Ghoul for now. I understand that much of what I said might seem all over the place, but I just wanted to speak from the heart. I have so much more to speak on, which I will probably do in other posts. I guess my final words on this have to be:
I LOVE TOKYO GHOUL!

Tokyo Ghoul Characters as MCR songs
This is for shits and giggles, please don't take this too serious. I originally wanted to cover Every album and compare Every song to a character from each album and then realized nobody cares that deeply so here is a brief version!
Kaneki - Famous Last Words - "Can you see my eyes are shining bright? 'Cause I'm out here on the other side of a jet black hotel mirror and I'm so weak. Is it hard understanding, I'm incomplete?"
Haise - AMBULANCE - "And we will wear our masks again, out after dark, 'cause we are up for everything it takes, and we are not the same."
Ginshi - Cancer - "But counting down the days to go, it just ain't living, and I just hope you know that if you say goodbye today, I'd ask you to be true because the hardest part of this is leaving you."
Urie - Sleep - "Don't you breathe for me, undeserving of your sympathy, 'cause there ain't no way I'm sorry for what I did."
Mutsuki - DESTROYA - "With duct-tape scars on my honey, they don't like who you are. You won't like where we'll go, brother, protect me now."
Saiko - The Kids from Yesterday - "All the cameras watch the accidents and stars you hate. They only care if you can bleed. Does the television make you feel the pills you ate or every person that you need to be?"
Arima - The Foundations of Decay - "Let the flesh submit itself to gravity. Let our bodies lay, mark our hearts with shame. Let our blood in vain, you find God in pain. Now if your convictions were a passing phase, may your ashes feed the river in the morning rays. And as the vermin crawls we lay in the foundations of decay."
Hide - The World is Ugly - "These are their hearts, but their hearts don't beat like ours. They burn 'cause they are all afraid. But mine beats twice as hard, 'cause the world is ugly, but you're beautiful to me."
Touka - The Ghost of You - "At the top of my lungs in my arms she dies, she dies. At the end of the world, or the last thing I see, you are never coming home."
Hinami - Cemetary Drive - "If you want, I'll keep on crying. Did you get what you deserve? Is this what you always want me for? I miss you."
Ayato - Thank You for the Venom - "I keep a gun in the book you gave me. Hallelujah, lock and load. Black is the kiss, the touch of the serpent son."
Nishiki - The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You - "Gaze into her killing jar, I'd sometimes stare for hours. She even poked the holes so I can breathe."
Eto - Give 'Em Hell Kid - "Some might say we are made from the sharpest things you say. We are young and we don't care. Your dreams and your hopeless hair. We never wanted it to be this way for all our lives."
Naki - The Only Hope for Me is You - "Because you're the only hope for me. And if we can't find where we belong, we'll have to make it on our own."
Takizawa - House of Wolves - "Tell me I'm an angel, take this to my grave. Tell me I'm a bad man, kick me like a stray."
Tsukiyama - Romance - There's no lyrics but the vibe is *chefs kiss*
Uta - I Never Told You What I Do for a Living - "It ain't the money and it sure as hell ain't just for the fame, it's for the bodies I claim and lose. Only go so far 'til you bury them so deep and down we go, down."
Renji - Headfirst for Halos - "And as the fragments of my skull begin to fall, fall on your tongue like pixie dust, just think happy thoughts, and we'll fly home."
Juuzou - Mama - "Well, mother, what the war did to my legs and to my tongue. You should've raised a baby girl, I should've been a better son."
Rize - Our Lady of Sorrows - "We could be perfect lovers one last night, and die like star-crossed lovers when we fight."
Akira - Skylines and Turnstiles - "We walk in single file. We light our rails and punch our time. Ride escalators colder than a cell. The broken city-sky, like butane on my skin, stolen from my eyes."
Amon - Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back - "For all of us who've seen the light, salute the dead and lead the fight. Who gives a damn if we lose the war? Let the walls come down, let the engines roar."
Feel free to add your own interpretations but these are songs that I think relate to the characters! :)

5 for the ask game?
Warning for uncomfortable teeth discussion and teeth drawings.
After all these years... I've finally finished it. WE'RE TALKING ABOUT GHOUL TEETH! The amount of time I've spent on this really makes it feel weird but the longer I dwell on that the more it actually is, so without further ado.
(The numbering system was mostly for my own convenience when trying not to lose these pictures that all look the same at first glance, but I kind of adapted to it as I was writing this.)
Tumblr media
A1 is a pair of human teeth drawn by yours truly. The cuspids will typically be a bit duller, but otherwise these are pretty average, if poorly drawn. These will be your point of reference because pointy teeth can look normal when not compared to how genuinely flat our teeth are.
Tumblr media
Now we have B1, this is the mostly widely recognized kind of ghoul teeth, used in scary propaganda and horror films, very vampire-esq. Sharper cuspids, slightly slimmer teeth, but difficult to distinguish if you're just walking past, or even taking a good look without a point of reference.
Some ghouls with noticeable B1's include the Kirishimas, Itori, Nishiki, Donato, Yumitsu, and Tatara. But! Here's the thing, there's actually two kinds of common ghoul teeth and this one's actually found with less frequency than the other kind,
Tumblr media
B2, almost all the teeth are more pointed than the human counterpart, but typically a bit more dulled than this example.
Some ghouls with noticeable B2's are Naki, Kanae, Irimi, Koma, Hinami, Roma, Miza and Shikorae.
Now we've dealt with the fun art stuff, time to get into the technical nonsense that I frankly know too little about dental functions to speak on but you cannot stop me with anything short of death itself. Proceeding! (There will be more fun art stuff further down)
The public is vaguely aware that there are actually two kinds of teeth distinctions that ghouls can have but it's more of an obscure trivia bit than common knowledge unless you work for the CCG, "You can tell an octopi's gender by whether or not it has suckers on the third arm to the right." type of factoid. Shirazu was actually pulled aside by investigators quite a few times times before even undergoing the Quinx procedure, just because his teeth give the impression of an unfortunately noticeable B2 ghoul. They had a record of him in the office for those working in the area he used to live in, that pretty much boiled down to "He's not a ghoul, please do not attack or interrogate if encountered in the wild, he's just Some Guy."
He's built like that for the same reason he was a good candidate for the Quinx procedure.
When it comes to concealment, It's pretty common practice for ghouls to have something extremely hard to chew on in order to seem to have completely average teeth, but if that's not their thing the bolder ghoul can just go the Uta route of "It's a body modification"
But in general dentists aren't a great idea unless you're a fortunate ghoul with naturally passing teeth, and even then only in necessity. Which is why it's remarked in confusion that Hajime Hazuki's teeth are "so straight," if he were a ghoul by birth that shouldn't really be the case.
Even now they obviously posses much stronger bite forces and teeth than any human, but this is actually quite a step down from ghouls of old. When integrating themselves into human society wasn't strictly necessary outside of simplifying hunts, the best comparison I can think of is monkeys. You'll see an actually drawing of roughly that in the next part...
This series has an unfortunate amount of unethical experiments, breeding, and hybridization fuckery, and this would feel incomplete if I didn't make an attempt to acknowledge that!
First off biological half ghouls. They're kind of a toss-up, they'll never have teeth as sharp as their ghoul parent, but there's a chance they'll only get certain teeth or none at all. Eto's the prior kind, her cuspids are a little pointy but she could easily pass as entirely human. I don't want to think about Ichika for any longer than I have to so that's all you're getting.
Artificial half-ghouls, Oggai and Quinx! They don't just magically grow sharper, your human teeth stay perfectly normal but the shift happens when they're broken and have to regrow after time/reaching a high enough frame, kind of an inevitability for artificial half-ghouls because human teeth are not made for ghoul shenanigans.
Amon gained a pretty good set of B2's but Takizawa's look a little like a weird yet subtle mix. (Not every ghoul falls neatly into one category or the other, but the vast majority do.) Kurona and Nashiro both ended up with B1's, Mucchan is a B2, Shirazu is as well but there was barely a change, Urie's a B1 and Saiko's never had to regrow her teeth but she'd be a B2. Aura, Higemaru, and Suzu are B2, Hsiao and Ryuusen are B1 but whether or not this has been shown is arguable.
Kaneki's teeth remained stubbornly humanoid regardless of how many times they were removed. Back when he had his mask made, Uta took note of this as an interesting trait and that's why the zipper-teeth are such a central feature. The Oggai are similar, but they were pretty good at keeping their human teeth anyways. More about this and the fruit bastard you'll notice is lacking from the half ghouls in a little.
Now the... breeders? What would you even call these three groups. Blades, Tsukiyamas, and Washuu Clan. The Blades aren't really interested in striving for appearances so they just have a mix of the two, mostly B2's with a couple B1's.
It gets a little more interesting for the other two.
The Tsukiyamas not only refine their ghoul traits into unique appearances, they pride themselves on those qualities and have the money to get away away with it. Their Kagunes may not be the strongest but by god do they draw the attention of the whole room in terms of unique mutations. So too are their teeth! Mirumo's are impressively noticeable B1's by themselves, but the real star is Shuu. Primarily inherited from his mother, they're one of the closest things to and old ghoul's teeth you'll find in the modern world. (Pictured bellow)
Tumblr media
Outside of his pure influence, knack for luring in good dishes and wealth, part of the reason he's so liked at the restaurant is that he's just capable of ripping things up in a way that very few modern ghouls can. It's great fun to watch, but he rarely agrees to do so the first time around on account of his preference for actually prepared dishes and "polite" behavior, not to mention ghouls generally don't like to eat in front of others. But few are entirely immune to persuasion, and Shuu certainly isn't among them. It's quite the spectacle. Downsides: They're kind of awkward for such a verbose person, and if he bites a little too hard he can take his tongue clean off without meaning to. It'll grow back quickly but it's definitely not fun.
Now for the Washuu garden, where the only the thing they're growing is broken kids and misogyny.
As Rize states, the more human you are the "better" you are to them, and this extends to physical appearances as well. So, even the ghouls posses pretty human-looking teeth, but for most branches there's a noteable type that tends to surface. Arimas stay impressively human so they tend to be liked, Ihei's tend to be B2s, Kaikos willingly make them as dull as possible but they lean towards B1, Souzus tend to be B1s as well, Rize's branch tends to be B1 and the Furuta branch tends to be B2.
Which brings me to my final comment, fruit! An annoyingly unique case, with the closest perhaps being Suzu, but the operation and situation is vastly different for her and 179 is not real and cannot hurt me. Anyways, I've discussed his warring RC systems at length, on account of that with the added detail of the different teeth kinds for himself and Rize, if he was to lose all of those it might look a little like this.
Tumblr media
I speak from experience when I say that wouldn't be fun but whatever he deserves the suffering. Enjoy never being able to close your mouth entirely without some amount of discomfort Nimura, you chose this life.
That is all thank you and goodnight apologies for the wait.

A Dangerous Dinner, Part 2
A/N: Here we go, Hinami getting gloriously gory but from Ayato's (absolutely, devastatingly smitten) perspective this time! I mean, he was close enough to her that Naki had to physically restrain him from making a doomed rescue attempt at the Auction, so we know how Ayato feels about Hinami.
He hops into the condemned building through an open second floor window, from the neighboring rooftop. It's an old, western-style apartment building. Good solid brick. Kind of a shame the city wants it torn down, the part of him not focused on the mission muses. The floorboards creak a little, and one of Hinami's followers sticks their head out of a doorway.
"Heyo. We've got the night watchman bagged, and we're gonna strip the place of as much as we can carry."
He nods his approval. Hinami's follower - I think he goes by Taka - gives a nonchalant half-salute, before scratching his stubbled chin poking out from under his falcon mask, where it leaves his mouth uncovered. Normally he'd turn and glare at the lack of respect, but they're not his crew to keep in line. Hinami's command structure and level of strictness are her own business.
And if he can't help the warm sparks of approval igniting in his chest at Hinami having followers, that's his own business.
He glances into another room where he can hear what sounds like a thorough ransacking - it looks like it was the night watchman's break room. The two women among Hinami's followers are shoving small appliances into duffel bags, along with any coffee in the cupboards. The coffee and coffee maker make perfect sense to him, but he's not sure about the rest - he sees a blender and an entire microwave disappear into one army surplus bag.
He's got another priority than helping with the post-kill plundering. He can smell blood wafting down through the stairwell, fresh - and maybe even still warm. I hope it is. He hops up the stairwell and steps out on the top floor, following the rich scent of an easy meal. He looks down the hall at Hinami.
The mission goes entirely out of his brain. The sparks of approval in his chest burst into flame, Hinami is the fire that warms him on all his cold nights. And if I got that from one of her sappy novels, that's my business, too.
He takes in the sight of her and stops cold for a moment - he's fairly sure this is the most aroused he's ever been in his entire life.
Blood, blood that he can tell is still warm, something about the hot-metal smell of it and the way it drips, mixed with something clear-ish and more watery, runs down Hinami's hands, drips down her chin, smears her cheeks, filling the room with a sweet scent. He sees what she's holding, half-eaten, in one hand. Oh, that's what the clear fluid is, she's eating the brain first. He looks at the coating of translucent, glistening red over her black lipstick and - her lips, slick with blood and brain fluid, delicious with it, feeling the moist warmth of her mouth, the softness, tasting the richness, the salt, the sweetness, the tingling tang of iron on his tongue and the smoky taste of her lipstick underneath it all--
He blinks the sudden fantasy away, awkwardly aware of how his face is now fever-hot behind his mask. He gives her a more emphatic nod, almost a bow. He's very impressed - along with the lust heating his face and quickening his pulse - seeing the timid, awkward girl who joined Aogiri when she could barely bring herself to hunt, with two bodies at her feet, a crew of followers, and a position as his equal.
There's some deep-rooted intuition rising in him, as he sees Hinami as a dangerous Aogiri Executive in her own right, who's looking up at him with a gory smile, teeth coated red to match her hands and face. Who can hunt and fight, who can stand on her own now - who would have his back, who he can trust while fighting for survival, who could hunt for him if he was injured. Who rarely looks like she enjoys being a ghoul - but right now she does, so unapologetic about what she is, even if it won't last afterwards. I want to see this Hinami more often. His intuition says "choose her."
My intuition sounds a bit like Eto sometimes, he muses, knowing very well Hinami admires the older woman deeply.
He makes simple, boring small talk about the job at hand as he tears his attention away from Hinami's inglorious feast and distracting scent, kneels and inspects the bodies, mentally tallying up and portioning out the meat. Still, one detail of the looting in progress downstairs keeps bugging him. He runs it over in his head and comes up dry - the blender and the microwave shoved into an army-surplus carry sack.
"By the way, why are they looting the watchman's break room?"
Hinami laughs, and now it's her and not his intuition that sounds a little like Eto - a laugh that's soft and warm and bright. Soft as blood running over skin, 37 degrees Celsius of warmth, bright as the almost-full moon beyond the blood-splattered walls. A ghoulish laugh, and even though he can't see her eyes behind her steel visor, he can hear how much she's enjoying her meal.
His own blood buzzes with equal parts attraction and reverence.
"It's almost November. Wouldn't you want a warm mug of blendered organs?"
He can practically hear his thoughts screech to a halt, for the second time around her tonight. His composure blows away with the breathy laugh that comes out, hot damp breath warming the skin beneath his mask. Hinami smiles at him once again as she reaches into the chest cavity of the body she's been eating. He can hear her digging around, can hear the blood vessels ripping as she tugs at something.
"We have a little while until anyone notices they're not answering their phones," she says, offhandedly, a beat, then, "Want to share a meal?" she asks, holding out a heart to him.
If he thought his face was too hot under his mask before, now the very thing that protects him feels stifling, hot and itchy with sweat that the padding can't absorb fast enough. He finds his gaze pulled to the fresh flow of blood trailing from her fingers to her wrist, leaking off the offered organ. She grew up among ghouls who tried to assimilate among humans. I hope she knows what this gesture means.
He'll just have to swallow his pride and ask.
"Uh," he hesitates, "You know what offering a heart means, right?"
"I'm not being subtle, Ayato-kun," she says, and there's a hint of vivid blush peeking out below her mask, around the blood slick on her cheeks.

If Only
For @weektg! Hey, turns out I'm a big fat liar! Here's another piece by me for TG Week! wooo... Unsure what theme this is. Maybe "Regret" is a good fit? Maybe that can be next year’s prompt. No crosspost on AO3 this time; I might retool this for something later (shhhh)... Anyways, under the cut!
"If only I hadn't met Takatsuki."
The words on the page stared back at Hinami, telling her what she had known for some time now. If she hadn’t received that card with that number on it, she wouldn’t have been absorbed into the Tree as nutrients. She wouldn’t have killed so many Doves— so many people with families. She wouldn’t have been a part of the Tree’s scouting unit, and been falsely claimed as one of their best.
(She was just so weak, after all.)
Even if she had been separated from Banjou, if she didn’t have that white card—
Hinami tossed the notebook across the room. It hit the metal wall with a thump, and she leaned back against its mirror, staring up at the ceiling. She saw the camera in the corner, always watching her and always listening to her.
She wondered what it was like being the watcher instead of the watched. What was it like, seeing hundreds upon thousands of ghouls caged like animals with little to do besides draw, read, and write? She’d heard about wardens beating some of the detainees out of boredom, and that was how ghouls like Yamori were born, but they didn’t seem to be around in her time here. She was thankful for that much.
But… she was out of time. Aogiri’s ranks had changed too fast for her to keep up. Investigator Urie had kept bringing more and more unfamiliar faces, and each one had been another bump to her disposal date.
And now she knew the day she would die.
She hugged her knees, trembling where she sat.
I don’t want to die.
I don’t want to disappear.
I don’t want this.
I never wanted this.
Is this the price of strength? Is this my punishment?
The notebook seemed to stare at her across the cell.
If only I hadn’t met—
“We have a ghoul in custody believed to be the leader of the Aogiri Tree.”
Hinami’s eyes shot open.
What? Was that—?
She listened closer. Her ears and nose reached beyond her cell, ascending the levels of Cochlea. She shut out everyone inside, only focusing on the entrance. There were guards. Lots of them, wearing facial masks, carrying firearms loaded with RC suppressants. Leading them was—
No, no, focus. Who are they taking? Hats, suits, belts with firearms— restraints made of quinque steel. The type used in Cochlea. Wrapped around the body, like a straitjacket. A short individual, with shorter hair.
The unmistakable scent of hibiscus flowers.
It was her.
Takatsuki. Eto. Here. In Cochlea. Not on Rushima. Not with the others. Yumitsu, Miza, Naki— Ayato. Why? Why was she here? She let herself get arrested? For what reason? Hinami knew about the ongoing extermination operation. Was everyone in Aogiri— good and bad alike— going to…?
And then the one leading her to her cell. It was him. He was here. Hinami didn’t understand. After six months without visits, six months of wondering what he’d been up to, he’d finally returned here with— with Eto?
What was going on?
Hinami heard Ayato and his unit arrive on the property. He found Banjou, Ichimi, Sante, and Jiro too. They were going to attempt a rescue. Away from Rushima. Away from Yumitsu, Miza, and Naki. Aogiri was falling apart.
The Tree was rotting.
The alarms went off, and the fighting broke out soon after, but the one who opened the entrance to Hinami’s cell wasn’t Ayato, or Banjou, or anyone she might have expected.
“I’m sorry it took so long,” Ken said, with a familiar sad smile on his face. “Let’s get out of here.”
Rage. Joy. Sadness.
All these emotions and more flooded Hinami’s system. Ken… was back. He was back, but… He seemed so much sadder. He seemed so much more stuck. Because she recognized that smile on his face. It was the same smile he gave her before he left her.
She staggered to her feet.
What should she say? What should she do? It was him. She should be happy. This was what she wanted, right?
She stumbled across the cell.
But Sasaki… Sasaki seemed happy too. He had friends. He had a family. He was loved and respected in the CCG. But for Ken to return, those things had to be taken away. Because Ken was someone who slingshotted into the past. Ken was the type to overcompensate, make up for the past by sacrificing the present.
Hinami slapped him. Hard.
“Why… are you here?” she asked slowly, failing to hold back the tears in her eyes.
Why haven’t you learned?
“You’re…”
You’re just doing the same thing again, aren’t you?
“Y-You’re an investigator…”
You’re leaving me.
He didn’t say anything for a moment. The alarms continued to blare. Humans and ghouls continued to fight each other, continued to kill each other, with no one winning in the end.
Leaving all of us.
“This is my last job,” he finally said. “We should go…”
She heard the reaper a few floors above, swinging his scythe. Ayato was engaging him. With him were two others. If she concentrated, she could almost believe they were—
She took a shaky breath. “How are we getting out?”
He led her down the hall, and told her about the drainage port. They ran for what felt like hours. The halls all looked the same, enough to drive one crazy.
She stabbed a strange investigator. He smelled like a pâté, but he also smelled like Ken. There wasn’t enough time to dwell on it. They kept running.
Ken left her. Again. She sank against the wall. Still weak. Still helpless. Still—
“Hinami? Hinami!!”
She looked up again, and it was Ayato. He ran to her, and she almost thought he was gonna hug her, but it never came. As always, he just put his hand on her shoulder, and it meant everything.
“Sorry I’m late…” he apologized with a smile. “Let’s go home.”
Hinami nodded and looked at who he brought. She froze. She had been right.
“T-Touka…” she whispered. “Yomo…”
Yomo looked just like she remembered, if a little bit beaten up. And Touka… Touka was beautiful. Like a butterfly unfurling its wings. She seemed so much stronger. Stronger than Hinami.
If only I—
Touka came up to her, raised her hands, and pinched Hinami’s cheek. “Idiot,” she said simply, grinning.
No need for words, or punishment, or anything. Touka was just glad she was safe.
The tears flowed freely. “I-I’m sorry…”
But reunions couldn’t last too long. They reunited with Banjou, who gave one of his nostalgic bear hugs, then headed to the compactor room after disabling it. Once they were through, they were free. Hinami would live. Her punishment was over.
The compactor room was so much larger than she imagined. As she ran, Hinami wondered how many ghouls had met their end being crushed by the quinque steel cylinders. How many quinques had been made. How she might have screamed when she was sandwiched between them.
… She heard something. Black suits, and someone she thought she had killed.
Typing.
Undoing.
Reactivating.
The cylinders came to life and rushed forward. Hinami turned to Touka, Yomo, Ayato, Banjou, Jiro, Sante, Ichimi, the Gas Masks, the remnants of Aogiri, as the space closed, the air rushed out of her lungs, the end result—
Footsteps. Lighter than air, almost like a bird taking flight.
A familiar flash of green inserting itself into her vision.
The sound of crunching steel, and the crackling of kagune.
No one died. Everyone was safe.
Amidst the ruins of quinque steel and kagune, Hinami looked up at a familiar, massive kakuja. Ayato caught her before she could fall from the shock.
“Why would Eto…?” Banjou wondered aloud, before shaking his head. “It doesn’t matter. We gotta go, guys!”
But Hinami kept staring. Maybe to Banjou, it didn’t make sense. Maybe even Ayato couldn’t understand it. Because they didn’t know. You can’t understand what you don’t know. You can’t understand what you don’t spend time with.
In hindsight, it was so obvious.
For a moment, she was fourteen again, sitting in a coffee shop and wondering why Shuu was taking so long in the bathroom.
A flash of green entered her vision that day, and gave her a ticket down the rabbit hole.
“Hinami,” Ayato said, patting her. “Let’s get going.”
“I think Kaneki… is the type of person who wants to be loved.”
She blinked. “R-Right…”
She gave the kakuja one last glance before she ran.
If only…
