Assigning Muppets dragons based on their personality
Janice has a monsterous Nightmare for its aura and because it just... spews fire day in and day out. It can also light itself on fire too.
Floyd with an Egg Biter because he could probably tame it and get used to it biting him. Also probably the stupidest to go get an Egg Biter egg since they bite immediately when they hatch.
Tumblr media
Dr. Teeth with a Rumblehorn because they're always looking out for other dragons and people and are the most colorful. They can sense changes in the weather as well.
Tumblr media
Zoot with a Hotburple because both have the tendency to sleep a lot. Hotburples can also sleepfly.
Tumblr media
Lips with a Deadly Nadder because Nadder are very caring towards their young and other dragons to the point of taking care of other dragon's eggs (not their own).
Tumblr media
Animal would be a dragon, specifically a stinger. As rambunctious like others such as the Terrible Terror and the Night Terrors, but on land and fast like a Speed Stinger.

HTTYD: Hazel Levesque
Honestly, all these dragons work for Hazel. I seriously can't choose. But, her dragon will be named Arion, if that helps with choosing.

Boulder class dragons as pokemon types
Like the stoker class post, I will assign the dragon type when appropriate.
Catastrophic Quaken: rock/flying, rock/dark, or pure rock due to the aggressive nature and how it's a Boulder in the Boulder class.
Crimson Goregutter: I want to say rock/fighting due to the tail, rocky bumps on the back, and antlers. Also the coloration and protective nature. The crimson Goregutter was designed as a prehistoric creature. Most of the fossil mon are rock type and the prehistoric Koridon is part fighting.
Eruptodon: rock/fire for obvious reasons.
Grapple Grounder: Ground/dark or ground/flying or pure ground for the name and mercilessness.
Groncicle: rock/ice for also obvious reasons.
Gronckle: pure rock, rock/flying, or rock/ground due to inherent rocky-ness and Arial mobility.
Hotburple: pure rock or rock/ground for resemblance of the Gronckle but slower and lazier.
Sentinel: rock/flying or rock/ghost for statue like body, STAB air slash, and roll of protecting Vanaheim and its residents.
Shovelhelm: ground/flying or pure ground for being trained for construction.
Snafflefang: all I got is pure rock or rock/flying for bulkiness and rock eating.
Thunderpede: rock/fighting or pure fighting for coloration, large forearms, and lack of an exoskeleton.
Whispering death: ground/dark for cave dwelling, aggressiveness, digging capabilities and just by looking at it. I can probably also have earth eater.
Screaming Death: a mix of ground dark and dragon for the same reasons for the whispering death plus the legendary status.
Faultripper from the 9 realms: ground/dragon for digging and legendary status. Plus the purple flames.

As promised, I'm back on my httyd bullshit. Here's a list of things that don't make sense unless you watch the shows (idgaf if they're cannon or not, they should be for the background of small details!!!)
1. Grump.
Grump is Gobber's Hotburple in Httyd 2 and 3. But not in httyd 1. So this begs the question: Where and when did Gobber get Grump? The answer? Race to the Edge S3 E12, "Last Auction heros." Gobber and Snotlout go to Viggo's dragon auction undercover, and Grump is one of the dragons for sale. Without that episode, Grump is just a dragon they shoved into the second movie for shots and giggles.
2. Inferno
Inferno is a blade that Hiccup created himself that lights itself on fire using monstrous nightmare gel and can eject and ignite zippleback gas. To the casual watcher, he just showed up with it in the second movie. But Inferno is ALSO from rtte! Inferno's first form comes from S3 E9, "Tone Death." Hiccup then works further on it, but Inferno as we know it is actually based on a version of the blade that VIGGO GRIMBORN, the villain for most of RTTE, made.
3. The Deadly Nadder(? Looks like a nadder) plushie
Although this is a small detail that is only seen in the background of the later Httyd movies, it is still a detail that first appears within the SHOW'S cannon lore. According to S1 E17 of Riders of Berk, the toy was made by Valka when Hiccup was a baby. However, tiny Hiccup was so scared of the toy that he threw it in the ocean. Trader Johann managed to get ahold of it, and the episode was about the riders trying to save with mystery item because something happened to Johann's ship. I don't remember what. Something about smoldering smoke breaths, I think.
4. Skull Crusher
Skull Crush is Stoick the Vast's Rumblehorn in Httyd 2 and 3, who is later inherited by Eret, son of Eret upon Soick's death in Httyd 2. But again, where and when did Stoick get Shullcrusher? Because it seems like he just appeared. Well, I have that answer! Skull Crusher first appears in S1 E8, "Crushing It." In the episode, the gang is tormented by a Rumblehorn who keeps destroying their camp. Hiccup asks his Dad for help, and his Dad is able to train and befriend the wild dragon.
5. Hiccup's flight suit
In Httyd 2 and 3, Hiccup has/is trying to perfect a flight suit attached to his armor. Now, this could just be seen as Hiccup being a silly inventor off-screen, but it ACTUALLY shows up in Race to the Edge! S1 E12 "The Next Big Sting" actually opens with Hiccup trying out his first design for the flight suit. He does it many times, each time having to be saved by Toothless before he crashes into some form of rock/sea stack (much like in Httyd 2).
6. Hiccup's aging
I saw a post either on here or on tiktok the other day where someone was complaining about how different hiccup looked between 1 and 2. In 1, he's like...what...13?15? Where as He's about 20-21 ish by Httyd 2. To fans who don't obsess over something and consume all the media like I do, this would be a bit of a shock. I mean, you go from this:
Tumblr media
Immediately to this:
Tumblr media
Where as fans of the shows had this progression:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Much easier to swallow.
7. The Bewilderbeast
This is, again, something that could be choked up to the writers wanting more than just 7 species of dragons. HOWEVER, this dragon is actually the center point of the last few episodes of Race to the Edge. We learn a little bit about the dragon over the corse of the last season, which takes place just a year or two before Httyd 2.
9. VALKA HERSELF
I watched Race to the Edge long before I watched Httyd 2, so I had 0 clue the Hiccup's mom was still alive or what her mask looked like. But in the last bit of the last episode of race to the edge, guess what we see?
Tumblr media
VALKA TAKING THE BEWILDERBEAST EGG.
In conclusion, these show's should be considered cannon to the HTTYD universe just as much as fucking Homecoming should or what ever. These are amazing and fill in so many continuity

What kind of HTTYD dragons would they train?
Okay so! I had to get help from the wonderful Misty for this one! (Thank you so much!) All of the thoughts on this one is from her. She put a lot of thought behind this and it's quite impressive.
Lili: The Snaptrapper is a mystery class four headed Venus flytrap like dragon that has green scales and is one of the most plantlike dragons. It's kind of pretty but also one of the more deadly ones, seeing how it lures it's prey in with a very sweet scent. It's three-way unhinging jaws are also pretty badass. All in all, something Lili would enjoy and would take the time trying to train. Though it wouldn't be easy.
Raz: Get that guy a typhoomerang. It's large, powerful, overdramatic, fast, and breathes a cyclone of fire. Not as agile as some dragons, but it is one of the strongest, and it just fits him so much better both in style and vibes.
Wybie: Wybie would have a hotburple. It's a medium sized boulder class dragon that's similar to a gronkle in many ways, except it's larger, more bulky, and considerably lazier. It likes eating iron ore, and according to an expert dragon hunter, it's the only dragon capable of eating through dragon proof cages. It's a pretty easy going flyer and isn't good at making sharp turns or smooth landings, but that's okay since Wybie doesn't seem the type to do trick riding. It's surprisingly great in battle because it goes into some kind of frenzy mode when threatened. It's also a great partner for a blacksmith, which he would be assuming this is a question for a HTTYD au.
Coraline: Coraline gets an armorwing. They are dragons that are naturally very vulnerable, so they build an armor coating out of spare scraps of metal. I can see her adopting it when it tried to raid an armory and gave it a metallic gift to lure it out. It has a highly magnetic body, and is surprisingly agile. I just wanna give Coraline an armored dragon and it sounds really neat.
Norman: Ah, the Skrill. Or, as I like to call it, the dragon that ACTUALLY should have had the title of "the unholy offspring of lighting and death itself". It usually only comes out in lighting storms and is so epic looking, especially the lighting patterns on it's wings Very aggressive, very solitary, and very good at holding grudges Give one to Norman. Other than the lighting connecting it to Aggie, it is a very isolated dragon that is feared and lonely. He could relate to it. If he saved one and bonded with it, I can see him being the only one understanding and patient enough to earn that dragons trust.
Neil: Neil with a snafflefang. Like rain cutters they are very friendly. It's an energetic bolder class dragon that loves geodes. Very sweet dragon for a sweet guy.
Greg: Greg with a Raincutter sounds cute. They are pretty easy to train and are happy and playful dragons that love rainy cool days and eat worms. They tend to be very trusting dragons, sometimes to a fault as one of note was known to leave her eggs with any human, even dragon trappers. They aren't huge but bigger than some. They are also stated to be intelligent.
Wirt: I am so, SO tempted to give him a Hobgobbler. It's a little, very cute dragon that is known for it's big appetite and strong jaws. It can eat just about anything. He wouldn't have a whole pack of them, but I can see him having one. It's known to be mischievous and lazy, but are very strong and ferocious. A very adorable, laid back protector that causes messes from time to time. It's also known to cover itself in it's own slobber to slip through tight spots
Mabel: Mabel deserves a Hobblegrunt. It's a chameleon like dragon who's color changes based on their mood. They're considered lucky dragons because they seem to have an ability to predict things good and bad a split second before they happen. They're calm, sensitive, and quiet that love good belly rubs.
Dipper: Dipper's the one with the Stormcutter. Imagining him with a large, intelligent, curious, owl headed dragon is fun. Plus he deserves an epic dragon.
