Sorry I have to scream somewhere after seeing your Reddit comment. CATULLUS 16 SHIPPED VOLDEMORT/DYLAN THOMAS. Dylan Thomas who wrote Do not go gentle into that good night. 🤣🤟
:D I feel folks get hung up on eldritcher's Tomarry or whatever but meanwhile the real deal is Voldemort crushing hard on famous poets, politicians and mathematicians. Obviously this is super reductive. These fics are incredibly hard to describe. But I love his dick thirst. Off the top of my head
Cat16 - Of course Dylan Thomas. Also everybody else. This Voldemort is the dickchaser. He just needs a dick with a pulse, ok?
EotF - Voldemort is chasing Viktor Krum's dick because he has got this crush on Vasil Levski, Bulgarian national hero. Also his crush on the Mahatma. In conclusion, his dick is into history.
Entschiedungsproblem - Alan Turing. Enough said.
Republic - the statue of Augustus. I mean.
Omphale - Agnes Sorrel the French King's sidechick with one boob fashion
I am definitely forgetting a lot of other cases of Voldemort's VIP dick thirst but yeah the only version with dick selfcontrol is the version in Pandemic probably. Which makes sense. He is a cryptobro. Cryptobros ain't getting any.

How do monsters age? Also how old are the brothers?
~ Sincerely, a very Library Anon ~
Hello! Thanks for the ask, and also sorry for you, my friend, who’s about to have pages of me rambling about my thoughts and headcanons that may or may not be entirely supported by the game for a socially unacceptable amount of time <3
HOW MONSTERS AGE
I’ve actually had multiple different headcanons when it comes to monster age! They all go into three different categories: “all monsters age slower”, “they age the same way (unless they’re a boss monster without a kid)” and “some monsters age like humans, some slower and some quicker depending on species”. But, I now have one that goes into a slightly different category.
Now, I think, “what if their aging is a bit of everything?”
Allow me to explain what I mean.
My first headcanon was that monsters age 10x slower than a human does. Just choose a human age for a character and then tack on a 0 to the end of the number and you’ve got the right age. A part of me still wants to go that route, simply because it’s easier…
… but then, a monster would be a literal child while being 100 years old. It would make it a bit awkward to write about human kids being friends with monster kids lol, ngl. (Also I don’t want to write Sans and Papyrus as being like 250 years old.) Not to mention, it’s a bit boring. So I decided to spice it up a bit, if you will.
Let’s start explaining this by taking a monster with an average mental state who is the most average of species. They’re not suffering from any mental disorders, illnesses, have no trauma or physical ailments and are overall just what you’d call an averagely happy person. There’s nothing special about this monster. They’re literally the most average of average monsters, maybe so average they don’t even actually exist - they are made up by the statistics.
At first, they age quicker than a human does. While they’re what would translate to 5 human years (AKA when they’re 5 monster years), they are actually only 2 human years. At age 10 in monster years, they are 5 in human years. Their aging starts to slow down at 16 monster years, and by the time they’re 25 in monster years, they are also 25 in human years. Then it slows down even more quickly and on a huge scale, so that when they are 50 in monster years, they are about 500 in human years. On average, a normal monster becomes 2000 human years old. (Keep in mind, that this monster is so average they don’t exist - this aging varies a lot between species.)
Now, let’s take another monster of this same statistics-made species who is more happy than the average monster. They’ve experienced many good things, and bad things happening to them are unusual, but not unusual enough to make the happy moments meaningless. They make sure to care of themself and take their own feelings into consideration, they know their own worth. A monster like this may become up to a staggering 4000 human years old with some luck.
Finally, here’s a monster who suffers and just… isn’t happy. They suffer from trauma, have gone through horrible things, overall just not a very good time. They’re very likely to only get to 800 human years or less, if things don’t start looking up for them.
However, these aging mechanics also get more complicated when we get into species of monsters and monsters having children. Gerson, who is a turtle-species, ages about 5x slower than the average monster, which is why he was alive during wartime (though he is near the end of the line now, he’s only maybe 20 years from dying by the end of the game). A whimsun definitely won’t live past 1000 years, even if they’re the happiest whimsun on the planet, because their magic isn’t strong enough to last.
A boss monster (Toriel, Asgore, Asriel) doesn’t age past 30 until they have a child. When/if they have that child, they age at the same speed as the kid does. If the child dies, however, they stop aging again.
Speaking of not aging when their kids die, the same kinda goes for every other monster to a much smaller extent.
A non-boss monster will slow their aging after their kid dies. If they survive losing their kid (because a lot of monsters would dust from the hopelessness they feel after losing somebody so important), their aging slows by about 150%, again depending on the species of the monster.
However, despite their slow aging, monsters are weaker than humans. Too unstable emotions or living in conditions that make the monster feel unsafe may fuck up thair aging, as mentioned previously. To go into more detail about this: the aging process is not messed up by the situation the monster is in - the monster could be in the most horrible position without their aging being affected at all - but it has to do with how their hope is affected.
If a monster loses hope, their aging is affected so it speeds up. If they gain hope, it slows down.
Taking this in mind, let’s talk about the skeleton brothers’ ages!
Let’s start with the Undertale brothers, since they’re the “base” for the ages.
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what I think their ages are, but I would say that:
At the time the game takes place, Sans is about 24-28 years old in monster years and Papyrus is about 19-23 in monster years. In human years, Sans is about 23 and Papyrus has recently turned 18. This has to do with their experiences in life.
Sans only has 1 HP. Skeleton monsters are among the groups that age more slowly, which ends up with him aging a tiny bit quicker than the ‘average monster’. This HP is mostly brought on by his clinical depression (which is actually very rare to have for a monster).
Papyrus ages slower than the ‘average monster’. He’s full of HoPe and is one of the most compassionate monsters, which says a lot by the way lol. But, we can’t forget that he literally didn’t have any friends, which did deal a huge blow to his self-confidence even if he won’t admit it. He aged just a little quicker than a skeleton monster should, at the time the game takes place (though this does change in my fics and headcanons right away, all he needs is one (1) friend to age as slowly as he should, or well. Slower, actually).
So, now that I’ve put down the base for what the two brothers are, let’s just straight up say: all the AU brothers are the same age in human years and there’s only small differences for the monster ages. Except for in Horrortale, which takes place later than the base game does.
I can’t say how old they are here, though, not exactly, because it would obviously vary depending on how long we wait to see them after the starvation starts, as horrible as that sounds. All my headcanons are off the basis that they were left in the Underground for about five human years after Frisk left, so let’s just go with that. After five years in the Underground, Dusk (Horrortale Sans) is about 38 in monster years and Aster (Horrortale Papyrus) is about 37 (he caught up quickly to his brother, as the things that happened took a bigger toll on him).
I want to mention, however, that all my headcanons for ages are very loose and not entirely my “final decision” on how I think monsters age lol, and they may change in the future. Anyways, this is what I’m going for as of right now! If you want any clarification feel free to ask :-)

The Gamer Hero, Deku Chapter 5
A/N: Thank you guys for all your likes and comments! I noticed that a few people might have been a little confused about The Gamer... it's an element from a Korean webcomic. The only reason why this wasn't listed as a crossover earlier is because I couldn't find it in the category thing. That being said, there are few other things I'd like to say to some of the commenters:
To Octopie21 and origamishishou: The reason why Midoriya hasn't put All Might, Bakugou, and Inko in his party is because he doesn't want to constantly have people in his party. And it simply didn't occur to him anyway... and it may or may not have not occurred to me as well...
To Spidja: +10 points!
To ZaynNaz: You're totally right, I'm sorry. I sometimes put more flowery words in my writing, so that just slipped in. Don't worry, I'll try to deflower Midoriya's internal monologue in the future!
To Shadow-DJ: ಠ◡ಠ
To sunsetskywrites: I'm probably not going to include any ships. There are pairings in BNHA that I ship, but I don't think I'd be able to add them in without it being forced, so... :/. I might eventually make a shipping fanfic, though.
And finally, to everyone who asked me to post another chapter of this fic: ಠ◡ಠ
xoxoxo
My alarm sounded. I yawned and turned it off. I hadn't had to sleep in a while, so that was a little weird. I blinked the sleep out of my eyes, then looked at the text box that greeted me.
You have slept in a bed! Your HP and MP have been restored, and any negative status effects have been cured!
"Huh," I said. "I'm probably never going to see that again. Good to know, though." I sat up and did a few stretches to get myself moving. Remembering what I had done last night, I whispered, "Halitus." My new elemental appeared from nowhere, sitting on my bed and now about as big as a regular eight-year-old boy. He was, at the moment, in his incorporeal form, which I now somehow knew would cost me nothing to use unless I started using him to control the air around me. I could summon him to a corporeal form, but that would require a steady mana cost. "H-hello," I said cautiously.
"Hello, master," he replied. His voice didn't seem to make any audible sound, but I could still hear it in my head. "What do you need of me?" he asked.
"Nothing, for the moment. I just wanted some company, and to maybe ask you a few questions." I looked at Summon Basic Elemental. The skill had gained a level off of the summoning ritual, but now it was ever-so-slightly increasing over time now that I had Halitus out, which was good.
"What do you need of me?" I got up and started to walk to the kitchen. Unfortunately, today was a school day, so I couldn't stay at the beach all day and grind no matter how much I wanted to. My training options were really limited at school, but I'd have to make do.
"What do you know about me?" I asked.
"You are Midoriya Izuku. You are my master. Our souls are one." He... did not waste words, did he?
I blinked. "Is that it?"
"Yes."
"What do you know about the world?"
"There is air. The air moves. People are noisy. This place used to look different." I idly wondered if the way he talked was something that all elementals did or if it was just Halitus.
"...What can you tell me about yourself?" I asked as I made myself breakfast.
"I am air. I move the air. Our souls are one." I sighed. This might be difficult.
"Who are you talking to, Izuku?" my mom asked.
"Oh, right," I said. I manifested Halitus, watching as air swirled around to give him a body. "You remember Halitus, right, mom?"
"Izuku, dear, I don't think I could ever forget what happened last night," she told me.
"Right," I said. "Sorry. I was just asking Halitus some questions about himself." Halitus gave a small nod of his head when I said his name.
"Oh, right. H-hello, Halitus?" she said uneasily.
"I am pleased to meet you, mother of master," he replied. Now that he was corporeal, his voice was audible.
"Please, call me Inko," she laughed.
"Of course, Inko-sama."
Mom sighed. "You... '-san' will do."
"Yes, Inko-san."
"Halitus, what exactly can you do to 'move the air,'" I asked.
"You give me mana and I can control the air in any way you want. My range currently has a radius of roughly one hundred meters, and it will increase as my power grows. My power will increase as your power grows."
"Okay," I said. "Do you know what my Quirk is?"
"I know not what a Quirk is. I know nothing of how the world is now."
"Oh," I said. "I'm going to have to fill you in on a lot, aren't I?"
"If that is what you wish, master."
xoxoxo
I ended up talking to Halitus as I walked to school. For whatever reason, Kacchan didn't meet me when I passed by his house like he'd started doing after we made up, so I just moved on. I'd made Halitus incorporeal before I left the house because I felt like maybe creating a sentient being made of air mana might be pushing public Quirk usage laws a little far. "...and that book was how I was able to summon you," I finished. He said nothing. I was about to say something when he suddenly jerked.
"Master, someone is rapidly approaching," he told me.
"HEY DEKU!" a familiar voice yelled. "WAIT UP!" Kacchan ran up to me, panting a bit. "You were just gonna leave without me, asshole?"
"I thought that maybe you were sick when you weren't waiting for me," I told him.
"Then check with that elemental of yours or something. He's gotta have some sort of air-sensing power."
"I only got Halitus last night," I told him. "I don't know everything about him yet. Why were you late anyway?"
He snarled. "Fucking alarm clocks. Sometimes they just spontaneously combust and shit."
"You blew up your alarm clock again, didn't you?" I sighed.
"Fuck off! This time it wasn't me!" Was it just me, or was he glaring at the air? "Well, not... directly me, anyway... Enough of that shit. Want your book back?" He handed my journal back to me.
I nodded. "Thanks, Kacchan."
He snorted. "What, didja think I was gonna fucking blow it up or drop it in a pond like some asshole?"
I gave him a blank look. "You did that to one of my hero journals."
"Shut up," he said. "Hey, I gotta talk to you about something after school."
"Okay. We can meet on the beach after you're done with detention." Kacchan had blown up at some bullies who were trying to taunt me about how long it took for my Quirk to develop and had ended up in detention because of it.
"Fuckin' detention," he sighed. "Meetcha there."
xoxoxo
School was boring, as usual. Because I had to study to increase my INT, I was already miles ahead of every class. My INT also meant that my memory was more or less eidetic, so I didn't have to worry about forgetting what it was. So long as I paid enough attention in class to know what was going on, I'd be free to let my mind wander to more exciting topics, like how I now had an air-controlling spirit for a minion. I'd figured out in Homeroom that I could communicate with Halitus telepathically, like he did, and used that to test the limits of what he could do throughout the next few periods without anybody asking me why I was muttering to the air... though to be fair I did mutter a lot, so they might have just dismissed it as "Deku being Deku."
I found out that Halitus could passively sense all of the air within his range. While he couldn't transfer the information directly to my mind, he could just tell me where everything was. He could also tell how the air was moving, allowing him to not only feel the wind, but air temperature and sound traveling through the air as well. I discreetly figured out that one MP was worth about one newton of force when it came to Halitus' air moving, so I unfortunately couldn't use it for sustained flight yet. After I was done figuring out what Halitus' limits, I went back to what I normally did during my classes, thinking about my skills. "Maybe I could do something to change Healing Hands," I thought. "If I try to reverse the flow, maybe I'll get some sort of life-draining skill. If I put more mana into it and change how fast it heals, that'll make a regen spell. Actually, could it be possible to change the effect from healing to some kind of buff? If I could make buffs that'd be so useful, plus I could try to do it in reverse to make debu-"
"Midoriya-kun, stop muttering!" my eighth-period teacher yelled at me.
"Ah, sorry!" I said. "I've gotta stop doing that," I thought. A few minutes later, the bell rang and I was finally free to go to the beach and work on my skills.
xoxoxo
I concentrated on my glowing hand as I hauled the tire over to the edge of the beach. The mana in it was primed to flow into the body of whoever I touched it with, giving them life energy. I felt that power, concentrated on it, then forced it to invert. Ping!
A skill has been created through special action! By reversing the effects of 'Healing Hands,' the skill 'Draining Hands has been created!
Draining Hands (Active) LV1 EXP 0.00% MP 50
The power of a greedy soul to take life force from a victim's body, converting it to mana.
50 HP drained, removes minor positive conditions.
Any HP drained by this skill is added to the user's MP. The user can choose to gain any effects removed by this skill.
I stared at the ominous purple glow that my hand had taken. It wasn't the best skill, what with the fact that it cost as much as it healed, but I was sure I could train it up so that it was better. "What's that, young Midoriya?" All Might asked. He was sitting on a folding chair in his civilian form nearby.
"I just made a life-draining skill from my healing skill," I told him. "I wanted to test out a hypothesis that I had. I guess now I could use this on myself to train my Healing Hands skill."
"Of course, that's a good idea. Just make sure to keep an eye on your HP and don't use it on others unless you have to."
"I wasn't planning on it," I said hastily. "I was, however, planning on seeing if I could make new skills from Healing Hands. I'm going to try to do something else that I thought of." I canceled the Draining Hands and switched back to Healing Hands. I let the mana build up and concentrate, then thought of something. "If I'm using this much mana, then I can properly stabilize it into projectile form, like with Mana Bolt. Having a ranged healing skill would be even better than a touched base one." I made a few modifications, then said, "Can I test out a skill on you? It shouldn't do any damage."
"Sure, but could you please be careful just in case?" I nodded, then shot a pulse of green light from my hand at All Might, causing him to glow slightly green for a second. Thankfully, he didn't appear to be hurt. Ping!
You have made a new skill. What will you name it?
"Regeneration," I said.
Regeneration (Active) LV1 EXP 0.00% MP 200
A skill that causes the target's body to heal itself over time.
Target regains 5 HP every second for 2 minutes.
Skill can be fired with a range of 10m with an additional 10 MP.
"It worked!" I shouted. Ping! I stopped working. "Huh?"
For creating multiple skills, you have received the title 'Skilled Gamer!'
"What's wrong, young Midoriya?" All Might asked.
"I just got a title. Hang on, let me see something." I opened my status screen. My title was still The Gamer, but now there was now an arrow on the box with my title, like when you can click on the box to bring up more options. I pressed the arrow, and it showed a box that had two titles: The Gamer and Skilled Gamer. "It seems like I can get new titles by doing certain things. I'm going to see if it has some sort of bonus or something." I Observed both of the titles.
The Gamer
The first title bestowed upon the one with the power of The Gamer. Has no special effects.
Skilled Gamer
The title given to a gamer who likes to make new skills.
15% bonus to skill experience.
"And?" All Might asked.
I equipped Skilled Gamer. "The title that I just got gives me more skill experience and my original title, which would be the default title, did nothing. I'll probably get more titles with different effects by doing significant enough things, which means that I could get even more skills."
"That's excellent, young Midoriya, but for now could you get back to work? It seems that that's all that that is for now, so you should continue with your training."
I picked the tire back up. "Of course!" I remembered the other skills that I wanted to make. I concentrated on Regeneration, but this time, instead of making the mana heal, I tried to make it reinforce the body. It clicked, and I applied it to myself. A blue light spread over my body and I felt the protection come over me.
You have made a new skill. What would you like to call it?
"Defense Up."
Defense Up (Active) LV1 EXP 0.00% MP 150
A skill that uses mana to defend the target's body.
Reduces damage taken by 5% for 2 minutes.
Skill can be fired with a range of 10m with an additional 10 MP
I nodded to myself. "This will be useful. I should probably make other buffs to go with it." I concentrated.
You have made a new skill. What would you like to call it?
Attack Up (Active) LV1 EXP 0.00% MP 150
A skill that uses mana to strengthen the target's offensive power.
Increases damage dealt by 5% for 2 minutes.
Skill can be fired with a range of 10m with an additional 10 MP
You have made a new skill. What would you like to call it?
Speed Up (Active) LV1 EXP 0.00% MP 150
A skill that uses mana to increase the target's speed.
Increases movement and attack speed by 5% for 2 minutes.
Skill can be fired with a range of 10m with an additional 10 MP
Through the creation of multiple complex skills, your INT has increased by one!
I grinned. Even if it would be a drain on my mana to keep them all up simultaneously, the fact that I had them meant that I could increase my stats if I ever needed to, plus I could buff others. Not to mention, the fact that they had an alternate casting mode meant that they might have the potential to get more casting modes, which would be extra useful. "Still, even with these buffs, it might be good to also have debuffs just in case." Just like with Draining Hands, I inverted the mana effects to see if I could make them into debuffs.
You have made a new skill. What would you like to call it?
Defense Down (Active) LV1 EXP 0.00% MP 150
A skill that uses mana to weaken the target's body.
Increases damage taken by 5% for 2 minutes.
Skill can be fired with a range of 10m with an additional 10 MP
You have made a new skill. What would you like to call it?
Attack Down (Active) LV1 EXP 0.00% MP 150
You have made a new skill. What would you like to call it?
Speed Down (Active) LV1 EXP 0.00% MP 150
"I think I'm good on buffs and debuffs for the moment," I said. "What should I work on now?" Suddenly, the BGM changed to Kacchan's image song, followed by Kacchan greeting me.
"Sup, Deku! We gonna talk now?" he asked as he ran up to me.
"Ah, young Bakugou. Welcome back," All Might said.
"What did you need to talk about, Kacchan?" I asked. He grinned, then held up his hand. He made a small explosion, the fire of which somehow stayed after the explosion ended. The fire grew, then swirled down to the ground beside Kacchan, where it condensed into the form of a young girl. I gasped. "What?"
Kacchan grinned wider. "You remember what you said about how you felt like other people should be able to use mana and stuff? I just proved you fucking right!"
"Kacchan, that's amazing!" I exclaimed. "The implications of this... You might have just revolutionized everything!"
"I know I'm awesome, Deku, you don't need to tell me what I already know," Kacchan said smugly. Honestly, I think he was underselling what he did, if anything.
"Uh..." We both turned our heads to see the source of the noise. All Might was standing there, his mouth wide open and blood pouring out. I quickly walked over to him and used Healing Hands on him. "Thank you, young Midoriya. Young Bakugou, it seems that you've discovered that anyone can, with enough practice, use magic. This is something that I'm going to have to call in. You two don't have to worry about anything, though. For now, why don't the two of you get acquainted with your elemental powers?"
"Right," I said. I summoned Halitus to my side. "This is Halitus, as you know. What's her name?"
"Hello," the fire elemental said. "My name is Pyra. I'm pleased to meet you, Midoriya-san, Halitus-san." She gave a small curtsy.
"Greetings," Halitus said. "My name is Halitus."
Kacchan smirked. "Hey Deku, wanna have a spar using only elemental spells?" he asked.
"Sure, Kacchan," I said. We got on opposite ends of the part of the beach that we'd cleared away for sparring matches. "Let's begin," I said. Kacchan immediately lifted his hand up so that his palm faced me. An orangey glow began to come from his hand, and a ball of fire erupted from it and shot at me. I had Halitus block it with a small vacuum, causing it to snuff out mid-flight. "What was that?" I asked.
"How the fuck did I figure that out first?" he asked. "Use your affinity on your mana, dumbass!" I blinked, then slapped my forehead. Of course I could do that. I held my other hand at him and gathered air-charged mana. I shot a small ball of pressurized air at him, a popup telling me that I'd gotten the skill Air Shot. "Now you're getting it!" he yelled excitedly. He shot a volley of fireballs at me, which I dodged some of and had Halitus block the rest. Before I could breathe a sigh of relief, I got a notification from Sense Danger that reminded me that Kacchan also had an elemental. A fire elemental. And I just let him light a fire. I dodged out of the way of the lances of flame that shot at me from where the fireballs hit the ground. I needed to increase my speed, but I couldn't use Speed Up because it wasn't elemental. As I used an Air Shot to blow the fire back, I got an idea. I gathered some air mana and let it spread over my body, combining with it.
A skill has been created through a special action! Unifying the body with nature's power has created the skill 'Elemental Aura' to empower oneself with the elements!
Elemental Aura (Active) LV1 EXP 0.00% MP 100
The combining of one's body with elemental power grants abilities according to that element. Power changes as the caster's INT, WIS, skill level, and elemental affinity grow. Only possible for those attuned to the elements.
Additional 100 MP used per minute.
Air Aura: Increases movement speed by 30%, increases jump height by 15%, increases DEX by 10%, user can generate wind and expend more MP to increase wind generation.
I felt myself speed up as a green glow spread across my body. Unlike with Speed Up, the glow didn't stop after I cast the skill because it was still active. I charged toward Kacchan, a combination of my running and the wind I was generating creating a cloud of sand behind me that smothered and blocked the flames. I threw a punch at him before he could get the chance to cast any more spells. He caught my fist with one hand, then started laughing maniacally. "HAHAHAHAHA! That was a fucking good one, Izuku!" I blinked. Did he just use my real name? "Let me guess, you cloaked your body in air mana to give yourself some sort of elemental boost, huh?" He chuckled a bit, then his grin grew to a toothy smile. "Is this what it feels like to be proud of someone else? I'm gonna have to step up my fuckin' game if you keep pulling shit like this, you know? How 'bout I start..." as he said that, a fiery glow began to envelop his body, and I could feel sweltering heat from his hand. "WITH THIS!" With that, he threw my hand back and punched me in the chest, making me fly back farther than I'd have thought he could. While I was staggered, he darted forwards with a speed I could barely see, then started pummeling me when he got to me. I couldn't find any openings, but then I had an idea. I overcharged my Air Aura, causing it to explode in a burst of wind that sent Kacchan flying back.
A skill has been created through a special action! By overcharging the skill 'Elemental Aura' to the point of explosion, the skill 'Elemental Burst' has been created!
Elemental Burst (Active) LV1 EXP 0.00% MP 200
The power of the elements can be too much for one to handle in great enough amounts. This skill turns that weakness into a strength by generating a burst of elemental mana.
Elemental Burst is strengthened if used while Elemental Aura is active, but destroys Elemental Aura when used.
I dropped to the ground as Kacchan was sent flying. Air obviously wouldn't work on Kacchan's fire aura, so I needed to use something else. I concentrated on the sand beneath my fingers, feeling it interact with my mana.
Earth Affinity: 10
I grinned. Kacchan didn't specify that I had to use air magic, just elemental magic. I looked at my mana, seeing that it was still high enough for a fight. I cloaked myself in earth mana the same way I'd used Air Aura.
Earth Aura: Decreases damage taken by 30%, Increases damage dealt by 15%, increases VIT by 10%, user can generate shockwaves and expend more MP to increase shockwave force.
This time, the mana that enveloped me was brown and cream-colored, like desert camouflage. As soon as I was done, Kacchan came rushing at me again and threw a punch at me with a kiai. This time, I blocked it with my arm, causing him to wince as his fist met my hardened skin. I punched him in the gut in return, which knocked the wind out of him. I took a step forward as I backhanded him, the combination of the shockwave and the strike knocking him over. He did a move that looked almost like he was breakdancing when he hit the ground, except he generated a wave of fire with the sweeping movements as he got up. I stomped, sending up a wave of sand in front of me to block the fire. It gave me an idea, so I used earth mana to compress some of the sand into rocks, which gave me a popup that said that I got the skill Rock Throw. I shot the rocks at Kacchan so that he had to dodge them instead of charge at me again. As he dodged, I ran towards him. He saw me and smirked as he began to run towards me. When we met, we both punched each other in the face, knocking each other down. We groaned simultaneously. "Draw?" Kacchan asked.
"Draw," I agreed. I placed my hand on his chest and started to heal him. "Before you say anything about not needing it, I need to practice with Healing Hands with every opportunity to make it more powerful."
"That's fine," he said. He was quiet for a moment, then said, "I really am sorry, Izuku," without any of the usual prickliness in his voice. I was so startled at him using my real name that I almost shot him in the chest with a Mana Bolt.
I sat upright. "D-did you just use my real name, Kacchan?"
"'Course I did," he said. He didn't sit up, but just stared at me. "I'm trying to be serious. Yeah, I was trying to get you to give up on being a hero because I didn't want to see you get hurt, but that doesn't excuse how much of a fucking asshole I was about it!" He slammed his fist into the sand. "I just... I just got so angry when I thought about you getting hurt doin' shit like that, and I took it out on you. That was shitty of me, Izuku." He sighed. "I must be the fucking worst at being a hero."
"It's okay, Kacchan," I told him. "Yeah, it sucked, and yeah, nothing will change the fact that you did it, but at least now we can move forward and work on our problems together." I smiled at him. "Also, I'm pretty sure that the title of 'The Fucking Worst at Being a Hero' goes to Endeavor."
Kacchan cackled at that. "Fucking good one, De-Izuku. I needed to hear that."
"You can call me 'Deku' if you want to, Kacchan," I offered. "I don't mind. The name's actually kinda grown on me."
"Whatever you say, Deku." He got up and did a few stretches. "Now let's blow some of this junk up!" He punctuated his statement with a blast of his Quirk.
"Actually," I said as I got up, "I had an idea that I want to test out." I held out my hand and concentrated. If I could make a shield out of mana, then why couldn't I make a sword? The mana built up and solidified, forming a katana made of blue mana.
Bound Blade (Active) LV1 EXP 0.00% MP 50
Weaponry is certainly useful, but may not always be readily available. This skill allows the user to forge weapons from their own mana. This skill can only be used by those with excellent control over their mana.
Extra 50 MP used per minute per weapon.
Max number of weapons: 1
"Did you just make a sword out of mana, Deku?" Kacchan asked. "That's pretty fucking badass."
I nodded, then concentrated on the sword. "Maybe I could add elemental mana to it..." I muttered. I turned my Air Aura on, then made it extend to my sword.
Elemental Weaponry (Active) LV1 EXP 0.00% MP 50
The body is not the only thing that can be empowered by the elements. This skill allows the user to give the armaments they wield the power of the elements.
Additional 50 MP used per minute.
Air Aura: Increases cutting power by 30%, increases attack speed by 30%, allows user to generate wind from weapons as with Air Aura.
Earth Aura: Increases striking power by 30%, increases shock absorption by 30%, allows user to generate shockwaves from weapons as with Earth Aura.
I sped towards a nearby fridge and cut through it like it was made of butter. Two pop-ups told me that I'd gotten the skills Sword Mastery and Power Strike. "FUCK YEAH!" Kacchan yelled. "That's the sort of shit that makes me regret ever thinking you couldn't be a hero, Deku!"
I smiled. "Thanks, Kacchan. If you want, I could try teaching you some of my spells and see how good you are at them." The massive grin he gave was all I needed to know that he'd take me up on that offer.
xoxoxo
A/N: I feel like this might be obvious, but I really like element-based powers. To those of you who are wondering, the reason why Bakugou isn't being a total douche to Midoriya is because he didn't feel like Midoriya was lying about his Quirk. In canon, it was just dropped on him that Midoriya had a Quirk in the middle of Aizawa's test, no explanation. This time, he heard ahead of time that Midoriya found his Quirk and that he was a late bloomer, so he didn't feel as betrayed. That, and it's already been proven that Midoriya can bring out the best in others. *Pokes Todoroki and Iida in their cheeks.* Also, I tried to cut down on the amount of skill text there was, so I only put in text that I thought was necessary. Figured you guys didn't want to have to read all of that. And I didn't feel like it.
So yeah, that. Hope you all liked this chapter!

for the fanfiction virgin (part two, AU)
Welcome back! If you have persevered thus far, you have more determination than I do. I honestly have no idea why I’m still writing this.
If you haven’t read part one, you’re going to need to, and then come straight back here.
This is going to take a long time, and I will by no means explain every single type of AU out there, just because there are so many, so let’s jump right in.
THE SORT-OF-CANONS
Also known as canon divergence fics. Most often the sort-of-canons start out in the canon universe and then by way of either time travel or vague dimensional travel device they wind up in an alternate universe. Other times, the fic starts out in the canon universe but then the author reworks the entire thing to their liking via a sort of deus-ex-machina scenario. These AUs are really rather simple and require vary little explanation on my part for you to get the gist of.
SOULMATE
The soulmate AU is many people’s first foray from the world of the canon and sort-of-canon and into the realm of firmly AU stories. Soulmate AUs often take place in a world where most everything is the same, except every person has a person that was chosen by the universe to be their soulmate. These almost always include a “soul mark”, usually a tattoo that shows up on the body and is used as an identifier for soulmates. Sometimes they are sentient and react when near a soulmate, sometimes they are just a name on a wrist, sometimes the soulmarks are like a communication device, showing the thoughts of two soulmates. There are dozens of other types
Expect everything from tooth-rotting fluff to the angstiest of angst with these fics. The logic and science of these AUs are usually vague at best, with everything from “chemicals” to hormones to straight up magic (though, again, exceptions for the HP fandom, who are usually the outlier for these kinds of things). Tropes for the soulmate AU include:
- Perfectly matched side characters to go with the angsty main character who hasn’t found their soulmate yet (looking at you James and Lily Potter, Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, yada yada yada, you know the pairing for your fandom. You’ve got it in mind).
- The “late bloomer”. Often the angsty main character. This character doesn’t get their soul mark until much later in life than is considered socially normal. Expect angst.
- Unmarked side character that can often be found betraying the other friends.
- “I hate soulmates I won’t let the universe control my life!” Spoiler alert: they do. They always do.
Soulmate AUs are such an overused AU type, but they are one that I hold dearly to my heart because they entertain me. People either love them or hate them, and there are great debates about this, and I urge you to participate.
THE NORMAL PEOPLE AU
This is another uncomplicated one. Basically, any special aspects are stripped away from the canon world and the characters are thrown into the current, modern world. These are not hard to find, but they fall under many different names (tags) because of the varying fandoms. Often, they are called things like Non-magic AU, Modern AU, No Powers AU, Real-World AU, etc. Also under this general umbrella category is the University AU, the High School AU, Police AU, Teachers AU. Basically, any situation that two characters could get into in the real world, and there will be an AU for it.
HISTORICAL AU
I think there are like three people who like historical AUs, and I am one of them. These AUs are usually also Normal People AUs, just set in a past period of time. They get interesting when you deal with things like homosexuality in a past time period, but there are not very many of them because they are both hard to write and hard to read if you are not like me and are not a history/English/geography nerd. That said, if you find any historical AUs that you really love, hit me up.
ALPHA/BETA/OMEGA AU
Oh, boy. So.
Have you ever heard of wolves? Yeah, it’s like that.
This is a vastly complicated AU that has become really popular in the last few years, and I’m not going to explain all of it to you, but I will give the key points.
1. There is so much cock. So much. Not advised for the beginner fanfic reader, because, as I have mentioned, they are usually under the age of fourteen. Things tend to get a little bit rapey. See, the A/B/O AU is based on the idea that everyone has a mating rank (class?). Omegas are like baby makers (even the dudes, see point two), and when in heat (wolves!) they give off hormones that the alphas can smell. This makes the alphas go all sex crazed, and try to have sex with the omegas. All the time.
2. Mpreg. Male pregnancy. The biology here is questionable at best, and I’d rather not think about it. Point is, Assbabies (the slang term for the result of mpreg. Assbabies). This is basically the point of all A/B/O fanfiction.
3. Three-somes. A lot of the time there are threesomes.
If you for want to know more, there is a wonderfully informative essay here. It has charts. I’m done explaining this one, because try as I might, I am a nerd in all facets of life and cannot. get. over. the. biology. Seriously, mpreg freaks me out.
AFTERLIFE AU
The afterlife AU is exactly what it sounds like. Often found when one or both halves of a ship are canonically dead, and they have a “yay, we’re both dead” reunion. Usually fluffy, even though everyone is dead. Avoid if you super religious (why are you here?) and will be offended by the notion of a vague and secular afterlife.
CROSSOVER AU
I mentioned crossovers in the first part. They tend to work one of two ways. Either a) both the characters and the universes of two different works of canon are merged in one mega-universe or b) the characters of one universe are transplanted into the universe of another, but without that universe’s canon characters.
Examples:
a) The Marvel Universe and the HP Universe merge together and work to fight a common enemy.
b) The characters from HP are placed into the Marvel Universe, and the Marvel characters are taken out.
FAKE RELATIONSHIP AU
In the fake relationship AU, one person of the ship usually ends up making a bet with a side character / needs a date to a family event and find the other person of the ship, who pretends to be their significant other. Then, as they are wont to do, feelings happen.
COFFEESHOP AU
A very specific type of normal people AU. Usually one person is the barista. There are a shit ton of coffee shop AUs out there for some reason.
CONCLUSIONS
I literally cannot think of any more of these god damn things. Why am I doing this to myself.
Next part: How to write fanfiction and why you probably shouldn’t, just yet, thanks.

I wanna try writing crossover fic but I don't really know what the pitfalls and problems are. Any open advice on the topic?
Wow, okay.
So I’m going to start off by saying that most of my recent crossovers have been sheer crack fic, so... I’m a bit out of practice with serious fic. I’ve been nothing but self-indulgent in recent years, so let’s see what I can do.
Note: I’ll be focusing on my preferred form of crossover, which is characters from one fandom encountering the world of another. Fusion fics (e.g. the Hogwarts AU) are their own category.
None of these are hard-and-fast rules, but they provide some... context, I guess.
The most common pitfall is favoritism.
Like, there are other pitfalls, of course, like going incredibly OOC or denying a character realistic development in favor of shoving them into a ship, but that’s the sort of thing that you will find in any kind of fic. As far as crossovers go, though, you’re looking at favoritism in regards to fandoms themselves.
This probably seems pretty obvious? But it’s everywhere. And I think you already know what I’m talking about and how to avoid it, but I’m going to go in depth anyway:
I’m not trying to say that you need to write it as though two fandoms are evenly matched in every way. A lot of people read into this advice as like... the characters need to be able to match each other in a fight? Which it isn’t, at all.
Like, if you’re writing a Naruto/Harry Potter crossover, for a very generic example, it’s not going to make sense for them to be equally matched fighters (unless Harry’s gone all Master of Death, is actually centuries old, etc.). It’s just not realistic, given their backstories; Naruto characters train from early childhood in almost nothing but battle-worthy skills, while even Aurors in HP train from late adolescence at the earliest, and focus primarily on wandwork, rather than an all-around fighting style like shinobi do. You could go ahead and say that the wizards then specialize in things that shinobi don’t (e.g. warding being more versatile than sealing, a wider variety of spells available for next-to-no effort instead of high chakra costs, etc.), but even that isn’t really necessary.
The story needs to afford both sides a certain degree of respect as entities, basically. Yes, your shinobi is a better fighter than the wizards are. But do they mistrust the shinobi? Probably, especially if the war is underway. Is that mistrust treated as irrational and villainous, or does the narrative afford the characters some degree of independent thought and respect for their approaches? Is your shinobi kicking ass for the sake of kicking ass, because you want them to look cool against the shinobi, or is there an actual plotline running through? These probably seem like silly questions, but it’s things I’ve seen happen and it is tiring.
Most damningly, does your interloper character immediately and effortlessly solve the problems of the locals? Does Harry adopt Naruto after seeing him mistreated by villagers, or Naruto steal away Harry after seeing how he lives at the Dursleys? Is Sarutobi or Dumbledore told off immediately and at length about what they’ve done wrong, and they just sit their and take it and admit their wrongs to the face of a stranger, or dismiss it in the manner of a villain? Is Snape or Mizuki publicly humiliated and then shamefully backs out of the fic for the rest of eternity? It’s an immediate urge for a lot of crossover writers and while it can be done without being cringe-worthy in its wish-fulfillment... it’s usually done poorly.(Much like in time-travel fics.)
Figure out ahead of time what your character’s reference points are.
When you enter a new culture and don’t immediately have a way of going home, you want to know what everything is, how it works, and how you can fit into the system until you can get out for good.
So who’s teaching the system, and how are they teaching it? How does the interloper interpret it through their own schema?
Using the HP/Naruto crossover concept again: Naruto being taught how the Wizarding World works by Hermione trying to be helpful to a stranger is going to be very different from Dumbledore trying to give a working rundown on the basics of the culture to someone he’s hoping to convince to join the war effort, and both are going to be very different from Lucius Malfoy trying to figure out a way to recruit someone who obviously has a very different set of values from himself (but may not be perceptive enough to realize how different they are, if Lucius is careful). Naruto is going to be introduced to different parts of the world in different orders, and going to have a very different view on each of them in the process.
Hermione will include more muggle information and history and how the muggle and wizarding world interact and, yes, social justice. She provides a generalist’s view on everything.Dumbledore’s will provide the most basic narrative of Tom Riddle and the shape of the war, with occasional explanations for other referenced concepts.Lucius will focus on individual people, influential people, will avoid so much as mentioning muggles or muggleborns; no need to show your distaste to a foreigner who might not approve if you just don’t bring them up in the first place, right?
Nobody fits in right away.
Your interloper will fuck up. Repeatedly. Someone will notice they aren’t local, will probably call attention to it, and your character needs to deal with it.
Also, there’s a good chance that the currency isn’t the same; please figure out how the character is eating, going to the bathroom, sleeping, and so on.
The rules won’t mesh. You can either handwave it, or turn it into a plot point.
Are magic and chakra related? Is magic just the spiritual half of chakra? Is it senjutsu? Are they unrelated? Fuck knows! It’s up to you! But once you’ve set your rules, don’t break them.
You already have a premise that involves people of differing power levels, backgrounds, and motivations meeting each other. You do not need another diverting element.
All the advice on this list is something you can take or leave, but for fuck’s sake, please consider if your Harry really, really needs to be a master of eighty different magical disciplines and quasi-immortal and a nearly-became-a-Dark-Lord-but-had-the-willpower-to-resist and with a tragic marriage behind him and any number of things in that vein.
...You probably know what my issue here is, and if the other readers don’t, they can ask, but yeah. You don’t need to pull a Dark!God!Character.
Your faves might not get along with your other faves. Your faves will not be liked by everyone from the other fandom. They may need to work on it, or they may not ever get along. Don’t force it, and don’t make out everyone who dislikes your fave to be a bad person for it.
This is just... basic storytelling, I guess, but I see it in fic a lot, and it’s tiresome. I know Toz already knows this, but please, please, please take it into consideration, everyone.
I think that’s all I’ve got in me tonight. It’s probably not super helpful, but... yeah. Have it.

Fanfic Recs
In honor of fandom fic rec days, just want to take a few minutes to just recommend my favorite fanfics from around the web. Please head the warnings because I like angst so rape, torture, and just all sorts of unpleasant stuff does appear in some of these stories (which I say beside the fic). I also listed the pairing, if there are any as well. I have been in fandoms for a very long time and have quite the extensive amount of recs, so I will not list all of the stories I enjoy, just my favorite stories I have read and re read the most when I am at my lowest or am just bored.
Please do not be upset if I don’t rec your story fellow fanfic writers! If I have read your stuff and commented on your work, I do love it but these stories are my favorites and stories I don’t only love and enjoy but stories I don’t think I would be capable of living in a world without and some are so old they helped shape my own writing style as you know it today.
Batman
In Re Robin
Warnings: Some blood and child abuse
Summary: After the extent of Robin's injuries from Harvey Dent comes out, Child Protective Services decides to save Robin from a vigilante lifestyle. Follow up to Robin, Year One.
Why I love it so much: Its not uncommon to use the story line from my favorite comic, Robin Year One by Chuck Dixon, but this one does it in a way that is special and captures the feel of why I loved that comic to begin with and made Bruce and Dick’s relationship more realistic and fleshed out then most stories dealing with them being father/son.
Broken Glass
Warnings: Eating disorder
Summary: Dick Grayson has always been a perfectionist.  But what happens when perfectionism goes too far?
Why I love it: This fic has been in my life for a long time, while all my other angst fics either got deleted or I grew out of because I realized they were bad, this one has stayed with me because its extremely in character and despite its kinda weird premise for a super hero story, it freaking works. Its so good and I love it.
Daddy, Not Bats
Warnings: Some violence (its a super hero fic)
Summary: AU, continuation of 'A Father's Request'. Join one 'retired' Batman as he raises his kids all together while trying to still save the world with this version of the Justice League.  One Shots, mini-series, and headcanons, life for the Waynes is always interesting to watch, especially since they can't leave crime fighting behind them. T for paranoia
Why I love it: I had to choose one story out of all the fics where Bruce raises all the Robins at the same time and this one is my favorite and it actually remembered Bruce’s daughter Cass, which most of these AUs don’t. You don’t need me to keep telling you about, I don’t want to give much away, go read it!
Miss Congeniality and the Bad Ass Ninja
Warnings: some language
Summary: Dick pays a visit to the Wayne Manor gym, where he meets the /delightful/ new addition to the family. Brother bonding fic. K plus for Dick's potty mouth.
Why I love it: This is another case of I had to only choose one out of the hundreds of stories I like about Dick and Damian bonding and I think this one is my favorite. Its in character and feels like something they would talk about and I really love it.
Teen Titans
With this fandom, I have a theme, so I am going to just dump it down now. If you want really well written Robin being Slade’s apprentice fics, these are my favorites:
Basic Skill
summary: Slade might have Robin blackmailed into working for him, but he can't get him to kill anyone. That's no good for an assassin's apprentice. NOT SLASH
Northern Star  (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6478556/1/Northern-Star)
Summary: Life as Slade's apprentice is hard for Robin, but even harder for those trying to save him. Murders, schemes and hatred flourishes as the Titans, Batman, and the JLA struggle to help him. Meanwhile, Slade has a nefarious plan in mind for the Batman...
Since it is my favorite theme, I have more stories I like with this theme but they are too many to list and some of my favorites have been deleted over the years which is just disheartening. Also these two authors are great go read all their work.
But my favorite author in this fandom has to be melimash
All of their teen titans work is jaw dropping and wonderful, I love it all so damn much. I can’t even express how much I love every single one of their stories, I wish I had half the talent they do. They are amazing and I have been looking up to their skill for years now.
Harry Potter
Casting Moonshadows
Summary: Lonely and outcast by his classmates, Remus wishes on a moonshadow for a friend who understands him. To his amazement his wish is answered not once, but three times, by his former enemies, the Marauders. SBRL and some JPLE as well, of course
Warnings: Child abuse
Pairing: Wolfstar
Harry Potter and the Nightmares of Futures Past
Summary:   The war is over. Too bad no one is left to celebrate. Harry makes a desperate plan to go back in time, even though it means returning Voldemort to life. Now an 11 year old Harry with 30 year old memories is starting Hogwarts. Can he get it right?
Warning: Child abuse and PTSD symptoms, this story was also written Pre- The Deathly Hallows, so Snape is presented as evil. I don’t mind because I don’t like Snape but I can see how Snape fans would hate it.
Pairing: Harry/Ginny
Another Prisoner, Another Professor
Summary:  AU. In Harry's third year he must learn the many truths about the new DADA teacher, Professor Black, and an escaped convict, Remus Lupin. Eventual SBxRL.
Pairing: Wolfstar
Harry Potter and the Something Something
Summary: Hey, wouldn't it be cool if someone took as many fanfic cliches as possible and stuffed them all into one story?  No?  Well, I went ahead and did it anyway.  Multi-chapter Mockfic.  This summary is actually a lot better than I originally thought.
Pairing: None
Against the Moon
Summary: The odds were stacked against him: a child from a blended home with no friends, no social skills to speak of, and a terrible secret. Yet slowly Remus Lupin began to realize there was a place for him in the world, if he could find the courage to claim it.
Warnings: Canon prejudices, blood, child abuse
Pairing: I believe the author has said you can see it as wolfstar but it won’t be official in the story.
HP is my biggest fandom and I have read hundreds of stories with these same ideas and themes over the years but these are my favorites because they are just that damn good.
Lord Of The Rings
Devoted (http://mariole.livejournal.com/23137.html)
Warnings: RAPE, I mean graphic stuff, please do not read if you this subject upsets you or you are underage.
Summary (there isn’t one so this is from the author’s note of the first chapter): This is a disturbing fic. Frodo is raped in his home (post-Bilbo, pre-Quest), and has to deal with that. I don't know why this topic has been pulling at me, but it has and there you go. I know this fic will not be for everyone. Frodo is basically a het character, so there are some het references and scenes. There is also slash, both requited and un-, throughout the piece, as various characters explore their sexuality and feelings for each other. The main hobbits are Frodo, Sam, and Merry. Pippin pops up now and then, but he's only 13 when the main action starts, so we don't see as much of him (sorry, Pip lovers!).
Pairing: frodo / sam
Why I love it: I tried not to put too many questionable stories I have enjoyed onto this list but I can’t leave this one out. This is the best characterization I have ever seen for the hobbits.
Treasures (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/854350/1/Treasures)
Warnings: lots of child abuse and its abandoned, never to be completed
Summary: AU - Gossip ran through the Shire that Bilbo Baggins possessed a great fortune in the depths of his home. Several ruffians attempt to seize that fortune by kidnapping his beloved nephew and holding him for ransom.
Why I love it: Its just so good. I love Bilbo and Frodo’s relationship, I love all the angst, and I will always mourn we never get to see the conclusion of this fic.
My favorite authors I can’t pick a favorite from:
MBradford (Some warnings for this author they ship Frodo/Sam and made cute stuff with them and their main series involve attempted rape and kidnapping)
shirebound
Gravity Falls ( my current fandom)
This one is a little harder for me to pick my favorites and keep the list somewhat small. Since most of you are following me for this fandom, I’m gonna break up this one into categories and list my favorites from those categories since I know most of you are GF fans following me and care more about these recs then the other fandoms.
Ciphford
Cold
Warnings: THIS IS MATURE. DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE UNDER AGE. It involves Non Con and psychological abuse.
Why I love it so much: It is so chilling and breath taking how they set up and conclude this angst filled masterpiece. I feel like if any story inspired me to make ciphford abuse, its this one.
Not One to Forget
Warnings: Non con elements
Why I love it: Its just so good and full of emotion that always manages to hit me right in the feels, please consider reading!
Nonconsensual
Warnings: Non con (duh with a title like that)
Why I love it: Its just so sad and such a punch in the gut every time I read it. I love it so much...
Fiddauthor
Fresh Start  (you should just read all of @memyselfandyoutube ‘s work but this is my favorite by far)
Warnings: Technical kidnapping, memory loss, mental health problems
Why I love it: I loved it so much I even wrote a companion piece to it but I feel like the original should get more attention then my work. The build up to the reveal, the tension, the characterization are all just so spot on and perfect. I love this little piece and implore everyone to read it.
You Have A Home
Warnings: Child neglect
Why I love it: This story has just started but like everything @amydiddle-fanfiction writes its looking to be a great story, that I am excited to read.
Gloves
Warnings: None
Why I love it: Its one of the cutest fiddauthor fics I have ever read and I adore it.
The Vandals
Warnings: Bullying
Why I love it: Ford protecting Fidds is just so good, so very good.
Fiddlestan
In Which Stan Occupies A Certain River In Egypt
Warnings: Mental illness, physical illness
Why I love it: I have a weakness for stories where my favorite is ill and needs to be taken care of and this is everything I could want and more. God, its just so good. I’m not even a huge fan of the AU this is set in (where Stan raises Mabel without Dipper) but oh my gosh, everything is just so perfect from the characterization, set up and build up of the relationship and so forth. I love this fic, I have read it a dozen times already will likely read it a few more times before I am finished.
A Helping Hand
Warnings: None
Why I love it: Its so unique to find a story that jams this much character into a story with out a single line of dialogue (as a writer I know how hard that is to do so this is a big deal for me) and this story just gives me goosebumps on every re read.
Brawl Brawlers
Warnings: Jimstan and some violence
Why I love it: I’m not a fan of jimstan, so the fact I’m recing anything that implies it should tell you why I love this. Its just cute and I can like when Fidds shows his more abrasive side. Logical book thief is a great writer and I highly recommend all her work but this is just the one I read most, I think.
Fool's Paradise
Warnings: this story is rated M and there are sexual themes and violence, so any one underage shouldn’t read
Why I love it: How could I not love it? It is packed with great characterization, fidds suffering, and an AU where the mystery trio all end up happy together. This is my favorite fiddlestan and I would be incomplete without it.
Good Days and Bad Days (http://nuttersincorporated.tumblr.com/post/120295190724/good-days-and-bad)
Warnings: Panic attack, self harm (harm pulling)
Why I love it: Its just so good, I love the hurt comfort, its so well written and good. Also worth checking out is this author’s longer story ( Memories ) but it is sadly incomplete and may be abandoned
Gen
Fiddleford's Secrets (this one is part of a series that you can find the rest on the author’s page Topaz88)
Warnings: None
Why I love it: Its an interesting take on Fidds origins I have never seen before and really enjoyed it, along with the rest in this series. Its a series about if the mystery trio and I recommend everyone read.
We're All Broken
Warnings: Mental illness, homelessness, its incomplete and I fear it might be abandoned
Why I love it: Its just so enjoyable and an interesting idea of Stan coming to town and helping out a broken and homeless fiddleford and his brother who is going down hill because of Bill.
Wednesday, 12 Dec. 1979
Warnings: Injuries, mental trauma
why I love it: Do you know how hard it is to find a good story that deals with Fiddleford’s canon trauma after the gremlobin? Because as a Fiddleford fan, I do and this story was absolute perfection and the author was a saint for creating it.
We Made It Through The Night
Warnings: None
Why I love it: Its a very beautiful story filled with wonderful characterization and so much emotion to punch you right in the feels. Mabel and Fidds bonding over trauma is an interesting idea and is executed masterfully by @forest-of-stories like all her work I highly recommend.
http://biteinsane.tumblr.com/post/156126664230/i-have-always-wanted-to-read-something-with-tate
Warnings: None
Why I love it: Its very short but its so sweet. I never really read stuff involving Tate and Fidds and it was a joy to read.
Authors
Princessedelarue  (all fiddlestan)
 theblindtorpedo (all fiddlestan)
  Logias (Meggletron) (all Fiddlestan)
CeslaToil (fiddauthor and gen but really just read her work, its all great and you won’t regret it)
tallykale (all fiddauthor but sadly not active anymore)
Hannahbette (an archive of Hannahbette’s old fanfic that have now been deleted from this site, all are fiddauthor and all are great)
And you know, you can always support me here, if ya want to of course. I’m egotistical enough to like my own work, so you might like it too.

A Mini-Disseration on Fanfiction
So I’ve been reflecting a lot recently about why people write fanfiction and make fanworks, and I think I’ve kinda sorted it in to a couple of categories. I’m positive I am not the first, but I still wanted to put my thoughts down somewhere.
My subcategories:
Canon was cut off abruptly
Canon is lacking something
Canon is one genre, but the core ideas would be interesting to explore in another
I know this doesn’t seem like many categories, but the more I tried to add, the more I realized they all fit somewhere under these three. I’ll start with the first one
#1. Canon was cut off abruptly.
This is a fanfiction classic. Your show was cancelled, the author of the book gave up on the series or died, there was a cliffhanger for something that was never finished, networks screwed up, so on and so forth. Often times, these works try to stay as true to canon as possible, because the core material cuts off and therefore the works are trying to fill in the missing, vitally important finale/info. (There is also an interesting subcategory of fics written following other unfinished fics. Very cool phenomenon.)
Notable fandom examples:
Unfinished book/book series (Game of Thrones, Dune, anything with a suuuper long hiatus)
Cancelled tv shows (The Society, Sanditon, I Am Not Okay With This, The Get Down, Sense8, Agent Carter, Firefly, Hannibal, Pushing Daisies, Angel)
#2. Canon is lacking something.
This category covers a variety of sins. It’s important to note that this isn’t the same as #1 because the source material has been concluded, and the body of work is finished. There can be some blurred lines, especially with shows like Sense8, where they were cancelled and then had a special to round off what was supposed to be another few seasons, or original source material where the story technically didn’t end on a cliffhanger, it just ended when there was supposed to be more originally, but primarily this is for shows/material that had the amount of run time they wanted and were purposefully ended, or at least not against the will of the creators. So, this category includes a number of the most popular branches of fanworks including the following headcanons or au’s: more LGBTQ+ characters, more characters of color, more neurodivergent or mentally ill characters, scenes that could’ve been really cool if they had been included and/or not skipped over, scenes that never happened but fans think they should have, characters meeting that never did, crossovers, alternate universes where one thing changes (ie. canon divergences), different endings/retcons (happy ending or not), explicit content, and so the list goes on. A lot of my favorite types of fanworks are included in here.
Notable fandom examples:
Any and all non-canon LGBTQ+ relationships (John/Sherlock, Dean/Cas, Rizzoli/Isles, Remus/Sirius, Harry/Draco, Stiles/Derek, Xena/Gabrielle, Poe/Finn, Steve/Bucky or Steve/Tony or literally any combination of those characters)
Most Homestuck fanfiction
Any popular canon relationship that ended (HIMYM, most of Grey’s Anatomy, all of Glee)
Any show with a horrible ending/unpopular recent episodes (Sherlock, Game of Thrones, DW, Star Wars)
Any work with a popular character that died (Torchwood, Grey’s Anatomy again, Game of Thrones again, Buffy, OITNB, The 100, The Hunger Games, the entirety of Harry Potter, TFIOS)
And, finally
#3. Canon is one genre, but the core ideas would be interesting to explore in another.
Now, once again, I feel the need to specify why this category is separate from the last. So, I think the biggest difference between categories 2 and 3, is that while #2 expresses a lack of satisfaction with the original work, #3 is all about a deep adoration and love for the content that inspires a re-make or an au with canon events most intact, if not twisted to fit the new genre. Again, I can see the lines blurring somewhat. After all, there is content that I deeply adore, yet also feel like changing certain aspects of it. And to be clear, I think you can have fics that fall into multiple categories, if not all. But this sub-characterization relates specifically to honoring and reshaping the core content and ideas of the original work without major changes to the characters or messaging. And by this I absolutely do not mean headcanons about character ethnicity, race, culture, sexuality, or gender. I am specifically referring to someone taking a character like, say Frodo in LOTR, and rewriting the story with him as a wizard. A surface level change at first, however it changes the entire foundation of his character, which is that he goes on a journey from a humble, small, overlooked character to become a hero, proving the value of the everyman, and the quiet strength of peaceful people. Now, if someone wrote a fic where Frodo was thrown into a superhero au, where one day he gets superpowers by chance, that would fall under category #3. The first example would fuel an idea of what the story would be like if Frodo was immensely powerful, while the second maintains the character’s foundation, simply placing them into a new genre or setting in which those characteristics and themes can play out. This includes au’s that maintain canon events/character backstories even in slightly modified au’s.
Notable fandom examples:
Hogwarts au’s (not HP crossovers)
Coffeshop au’s
Historical au’s
Tattoo/Bookstore/Florist au’s
*provided all these examples purposefully maintain key elements of canon*
So, what’s the point?
There isn’t really a single point, I’m an academic weirdo who likes categorizing media and understanding the impulse that drives me and so many other people to consume and create fancontent, specifically fanfic. But, what I will say is that all three categories of work fulfill some need of a fan/consumer, and they can all be incredibly cathartic and/or a continuation of a deeply beloved original work. #1 appeals to those mourning the incomplete and premature ending of a show/book that they thought had a lot of potential. #2 appeals to people mourning the incompleteness of a finished work that could’ve had a lot more potential with some minor (or major) tweaks. #3 appeals to people who are mourning the ending of something they feel has the potential to be explored more, even if it was already explored well in the first place. This is how you get people writing novel length and longer fics, because they’re driven by dissatisfaction, even if they loved whatever the work is based on. I completely understand angrily rewriting an ending or a character, incorporating personal details or making a character more similar to oneself through the inclusion of various non-canonical identities. And, by no means am I implying one category contains better works than any other, but the creators who exist within the third category truly blow my mind at times, because this is often where you get people re-writing an entire series or movie from a different characters perspective, or people who write 300,000+ word coffee shop au’s or hogwarts au’s or spy au’s. This level of dedication honestly inspires me, because to go through the effort of re-intepreting and altering slightly an original work purely out of love and with little intent to directly contradict canon requires a level of devotion I can only aspire to.
TL;DR
And, finally, I want to say that I see all fancontent in any of these three categories as truly beautiful, because they are expressions of the human inclination to see the best in everything, and moreover, to try and leave things better than we found them. So yeah. That’s my word vomit for the moment. Happy writing.
