(jvj went to jail for bread theft if it matters.) considering how long that is and how much javert feels the need to do said chasing around that's kinda gay. also at one point javert is employed by valjean (except he doesn't know it's him and knows him as m. madeleine) and then asks madeleine to fire him. because he thought he was valjean and wanted to send him to jail even though he IS valjean. but some other guy got framed instead so it checks out and then WAY later on the barricades javert gets captured by a bunch of college students and valjean sets him free. this causes javert to have an existential crisis because 'OH NO HE'S A CRIMINAL BUT HE'S NICE TO ME' and then he kills himself. (also they have a very awkward carriage ride together. along with the unconscious body of valjean's future son-in-law. after valjean was in the parisian sewers and therefore covered in sewer water.)

What Godzilla monsters do you ship?

Recently on Twitter, an adult woman went on an angry tirade after coming across some Mothzilla fanart, proceeding to try and dunk on every teenager that tried to defend the artist or told her that she was being a weirdo. So right now feels like a good time to talk about monsters in love just to spite them.

You guys know me, Mothollante (Biollante x Mothra) is my biggie. I really love exploring Biollante as a character herself, and giving her someone to comfort her and grow closer to just feels really good. I love talking about them, they’re my favourite yuri. Gigan x Megalon is a classic and I love them, awful idiot boyfriends. I for one am very excited for the enemies to lovers slow burn in Godzilla x Kong, Kongzilla is peak and GxK will truly be an avant-garde masterpiece for including them. I’ve started warming up to Ghidzilla too, I like the kind of couple that will fight but fighting is their love language and they’re totally enamoured with each other. Not into the interpretations where Godzilla just seems like he hates Ghidorah and their relationship, cause then they just feel like boomer comics of husbands hating their wives (not to mention I am not into non-con :/). Either way, as long as they’re both into it, they can kiss, they can fight, it’s kind of beautiful. I like Angzilla as old man yaoi, I’m not really into Mothzilla but my favourite flavour of it is when Godzilla is a sheepish dork about it, Rodorah’s cool when it’s not so toxic that I’m screaming at Rodan to get out of there… yeah that’s about it. I’m accepting of a lot of pairings and I think it’s fun to be like “haha monster love life”. Go crazy do whatever you want. These monsters have such vague personalities that the world is your oyster.

They’ve always thought of eachother since but never met again.

Tigerclaw: My name sake<3 The angst of his earlier life is so, so facinating to me. Starclan being straight fucked up and decided killing him is their only option? He was a kid and they saw him as a lost cause from the start. They never tried any other methods, never tried to steer him in the right direction or… even just take it into their own hands and kill him themself, which they have SHOWN they’re capable of.

They watched all the the horrific crimes he commited, entirely aware they were going to happen. Thats. Fucking. Horrifying. Starclan is scary as shit… and his death? FANTASTIC. I only wish he’d gotten lives from cats he killed so that him coming back to life to suffer over and over was an actual curse from Starclan and not blessings. They knew how he would die and they gave him the lives to torture him for his sins…

Bluestar: Get behind me women with mental disorders. I will defend you. Beautifully complex and tragic character, my favorite written in the series. Literally can't think of a single other female character in handled as seriously and with the complexity of Bluestar. (Although her super edition was a bit of an L with how others treated her, it ultimately makes her breakdown even more painful.)

Leopardstar: As a kid I hated her and loved Blackfoot, now I hate Blackfoot and love her. #feminism. But seriously I think she has way more going for her than he ever has. Her father is a medicine cat who hates violence, the DRASTIC change in Riverclan's view of outsiders upon Crookedstar's death and her leadership. Her already having a position of power before proving she's unworthy of it. (Unlike Blackstar who gets rewarded for his racism and violence by being made leader afterwards) and the fact she has to interact with her victims on a daily basis after what she did.

The writings attempts to redeem her are really lame and dismissive of the actually damage she did, but at the very least they TRIED to do something else with her. Personally, I would have loved to see her assassinated by Mistyfoot. Just like her mother Bluestar was almost killed all those moons ago by Tigerclaw... The parallels of violence for power and violence for peace. A victim repeating the actions of the very man who killed her brother to put an end to what he started in Riverclan.... A shadow in Riverclan, if you will. (<-Pretending erin hunter has hired me to rewrite their series)

Windclan: Tunneling as a concept and inviting outsiders into their clan so friendly and casual makes the clan seems so much more diverse than the others. It always stuck out to me!

Admittedly, this is hard to answer as thoroughly as I'd like, since I generally have a hard time starting new shows and keeping up with them, so there are a fair few that I haven't actually gotten around to watching yet that I've really wanted to. Still, I'll mention a few of those since they do come highly recommended and I've had my eye on for a while, and then get into the ones I actually have seen.

-Kase-San and Morning Glory: Haven't seen, but did read the manga it's based on a while back; as I recall it's a very simple but very sweet slice-of-life sort of thing about a girly girl, a tomboy, and their shared love of gardening. Rather than a full series, I think it was adapted as a longer OVA or two? So I don't know how much of the story it covers, but it's also the kind of thing where, outside of the developing relationship of the leads, there's not too much in the way of like, a hard-hitting narrative to adapt. It's just super cute.

-Lycoris Recoil: In contrast to the last one, LycoReco is a recent anime-only sort of thing, and much more plotty from my understanding. It's basically the next thing I plan to properly sit down with in the near future, but until then I'll admit I don't know a whole lot about it; the main vibe I've gotten is that it is like, this action-drama about secret agents(?) first, yuri romance second, but it still does go out of its way to make the romance unambiguous and compelling, rather than trying to hide it behind subtext like older shows would have done. So at least based on what I've heard, it sounds worth your while, just I guess tread with caution since it may also get into some darker territory?

-The Executioner And Her Way Of Life: Another recent one that I haven't gotten to yet, but have read some of the manga for and so at least have some idea of what to expect. It's similar to Lycoris Recoil in being an action show first, but still very very clearly gay, so yanno, factor that in on whether you want to see it or not.

The premise is a sort of parody-taken-seriously of standard isekai stuff, taking place in a fantasy world that's constantly suffering from people reincarnating there from earth, growing overpowered and selfish, and causing radical, harmful upheaval. In response, an elite assassin's guild was formed to hunt down and eliminate these isekai "heroes" before they can get too powerful. The protagonist is one of these assassins, and the plot (and romance) starts when she's sent to kill a recently-isekai'd girl... who's special power is that she's seemingly unkillable, and immediately develops a crush on the assassin. Very much a slow burn enemies-to-lovers sort of vibe, but what little I read seemed promising.

-Wandering Witch: Another one I don't know a whole lot about, just that it's come highly recommended by some people whose good taste I generally trust. As the name implies, it seems to be a fairly slice-of-life-ish piece about a pair of witches? But beyond that, I don't really know much, so prolly worth looking into more yourself.

-Otherside Picnic: As I understand it, it's basically like the movie Annihilation, but gay? A pair of girls traveling through this uncanny sectioned-off region where all sorts of creepy supernatural happenings are going down, and it gets very existential. I've admittedly kinda dragged my feet on this one, since I have a complicated and inconsistent relationship with horror stuff, but it does sound very intriguing. Though I will say, from my understanding the yuri is very clear in the LN and manga, while the anime downplays that stuff into subtext? So it's probably more worth reading than watching.

With those out of the way, time to talk about the ones I do know! A couple of these I'll pair up because their vibes are similar, but I'll still try and discuss each with due depth.

-Urara Meirochou & Konohana Kitan: These two are cut from a pretty similar cloth, that I guess I'll just call "Historic supernatural cuteness"? Both are set in fantasy versions of olden japan, but the overall vibe is similar to modern-day Cute Girls Doing Cute Things shows. I considered leaving them off the list since they're also much more reliant on subtext than most of the others here, but I have too much of a soft spot for Urara Meirochou to be able to ignore it ^^; (I have half-unfinished fanfic for it, which given the scarcity of my writings these days has to count for something!)

Urara is about a group of girls seeking to become apprentice fortune-tellers in this mazelike city dedicated to the craft, though all coming at it from very different walks of life. It's pretty simple and episodic, but the main thing that made it for me was the dynamic between the main protagonist, a literally feral girl who's having difficulty adapting back to human life after being literally Raised By Wolves, and a prim and proper noble daughter who's completely befuddled but also enamored by her antics.

Konohana Kitan, meanwhile, I never got around to finishing just because Life Happened™ at the time, but it featured a bunch of Kitsune running a bathhouse; very Spirited Away in some ways, but a lot more relaxed in tone.

-Izetta, The Last Witch & Princess Principal: Another pair that came out around the same time, but that are tonally kind of the opposite of the last two. Both take place in kinda steampunky/dieselpunky parallel history versions of early 1900s europe, and feature spies and intrigue and action primarily, while, due to when they came out, the yuri elements legitimately straddle the line between subtext and just text.

Izetta is almost a precursor to Witch From Mercury in some ways? Just again, different settings. It takes place during a parallel of World War I and II, with the Germany analogue attacking a tiny border country as part of its overall war plans. The princess of that smaller country, though, winds up calling on help from (and falling in love with) the last witch in the world to help repel the invasion with magic. Izetta very much feels like a prototype of Suletta, and rides an anti-tank-rifle instead of a broom, which is awesome.

Princess Principal, meanwhile, is more focused on class divides and zeroes in on the spy theme more clearly. Basically, in an alternate version of London that's split down the middle Berlin-style, a group of teenage academy students who are actually plants by the opposing side, team up with a traitorous lower princess to sabotage the royal family... though one of the spies has a pre-existing history with her that makes everything even more complicated. It's a really interesting one, told in non-chronological order, that understands the less glamorous side of intelligence operations while still having a fair amount of dramatic action and twists, and alternates between feeling like a CGDCT show and an intense political thriller. And yanno, the gay. I also actually haven't finished this one because Life Happened™ and it's been a while since, but one of these days I want to rewatch and properly finish it. What I did see, was very very strong, though.

-Black Rock Shooter (2010 OVA & 2012 Series): This is another one I wasn't sure I should include, but eh, here we go. Basically, a sort of supernatural psychological slice of life? It alternates between a fairly straightforward school drama, and mysterious glimpses into this almost eldritch other world where monstrous humanoid entities are locked in endless, often rather brutal, combat. As things go on, the two seemingly disconnected stories wind up coming together in interesting ways. Being an older series, the yuri is very much subtexual, but still kind of a core element of the story anyway? It's difficult to explain. The OVA and the Series are basically different takes on the same premise; I favor the OVA as the more subtly-told version, but despite the series getting weirdly melodramatic in places, manages to expand on the concept in some cool ways, so I'd say both are worth watching if it sounds interesting.

(Sidenote, though: Don't confuse BRS 2012 with the more recent series, Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall. Dawn Fall is part of the same franchise, but other than some shared characters it's almost completely unrelated, with a wildly different core premise and tone. And while I did like a couple things it did, on the whole I just can't recommend it, especially in comparison to the original but also just kind of in general on its own merits. I'd steer clear of that one unless you're morbidly curious and able to stomache some frankly unnecessarily disturbing content.)

-Citrus: Something of a dishonorable mention before we move on to the big ones. Citrus is one I kind of have a lot of mixed feelings on personally, but I still feel like it's worth consideration, at the very least for the historical significance. TLDR; a boisterous gyaru moves to a new school and immediately winds up clashing with the school's repressed killjoy Student Council President, only for it to turn out that thanks to their parents remarrying, the two are now stepsisters. Cue lots of weird sexual tension and a revolving door of side character rival love interests.

A lot of people list the psuedo-incest nature of the two leads' relationship to be the big point against it, but to be perfectly honest, that aspect of it doesn't really bother me; I just didn't care for it because of basically the rest of the writing. There's a lot of what's basically sexual harassment in the manga, that the anime further escalates in adaptation to be as 'steamy' and 'torrid' as possible, and between that and the aforementioned side characters who (almost, there is one big exception and she's another reason I wasn't a fan) all have a more compelling (and respectful) dynamic with one or both of the leads, it failed to really sell me on the central pairing. I hear it does develop in a better direction later on, but that's after I lost patience to keep reading, and the anime basically only covers right up to the point where their interactions stop feeling so... uncomfortable.

At the same time, though, I will admit that Citrus does have its merits. There are a lot of people who do love it, so I'm not really speaking for a crowd here, and while I strongly dislike the student council president stepsister, the gyaru protagonist is a genuinely fun cinnamon roll who did nothing wrong and made what I did read/watch enjoyable despite my complaints. And like I said, I have heard it gets better, if you can get further in the manga.

And if nothing else, we do honestly owe Citrus, because the manga did help make yuri more popular and well-known, and the anime marked the shift from subtext being the only way to imply a relationship between girls, to more recent series being able to show it in full and not downplay the romantic or even sexual elements of a lesbian relationship. So, I guess despite what it took to get there, we probably wouldn't have it nearly as good as we do now without Citrus, so on that merit it is probably worth checking out.

And finally, there's my top three recommendations:

-Magirevo (or; The Magical Revolution Of The Reincarnated Princess And The Genius Young Lady): Another recent one, but that I actually was able to sit down and watch through entirely, huzzah! Genre-wise it's kind of a weird one, being technically an Isekai but only barely; the protagonist has vague and fuzzy memories of a past life on earth that do inform her decisions and drive to an extent, but she refreshingly still feels mostly a part of this world she was born and raised in. It also takes a lot of cues in terms of the setting and typical tropes from the traditionally (tragically) more het-oriented Otome/Villainess genre, so without as much familiarity with that, some of the metatextual twists to those formulas that I really enjoyed, may not land the same? But it's still pretty solid even aside from that.

The basic concept there is that the protagonist, a princess in a magically-strong royal family who herself lacks any magical capability, becomes something of a mad scientist in her efforts to find a way to use magic through other means, and abdictates succession to her younger brother. However, over time he begins acting more erratic, until a breaking point is hit when he publically disavows his betrothed fiance. And the princess, who's also a massive lesbian who's long held a crush on said fiance, takes advantage of this to swoop in and drag her into assisting with her experiments.

It's admittedly kind of an uneven series, veering wildly between slice-of-life hijinks and surprisingly in-depth amounts of intrigue, and so the overall tone is a bit messy. The big issue is that its commentary on the flaws of monarchism and royal politics winds up feeling a bit undercut/incomplete, by virtue of being an incomplete adaptation that the LNs and Manga continue past, but I'm still willing to forgive all that, because the romantic development is very strong. While I understand some of the other series above that I have yet to watch or complete also don't have to hide behind subtext like older shows did, this one feels like it really takes advantage of that freedom. Despite the main plot distracting from it at times, on the whole the girls' relationship feels wonderfully central and gets a really good payoff. If you're here for gay with a little extra something on top, this is my recommendation.

-Symphogear: This is a case where I simultaneously really recommend this, while not entirely being sure if it should be on the list. While most of the others I've listed are single-cour and thus pretty quick to blast through, (even if sometimes to their own detriment, more on that later) Symphogear has five seasons' worth of content, with possibly more on the way, (there was a recent announcement of something new coming in a few years, but whether it's a new season, a spinoff, or just some unduly hyped merch or something, is yet unclear.) so is more of an undertaking. It's also a bit more rough around the edges in some spots, so my recommendation does come with disclaimers.

Premise-wise, it's kind of a weird mashup of genres; Magical girls, super robot mecha anime, and idols being the big ones. In a near-future world that's regularly afflicted by incursions from deadly entities called Noise, there are a group of girls wielding Symphogears, music-powered magitech devices that allow them to transform and fight back. However, there's a whole lot more going on beneath the surface, as the mystery of where the Noise are coming from is tied to a web of conspiracy involving alchemists, monsters, enemy symphogear wielders, and ancient sumerian myth.

It's definitely an action show first and foremost, but part of what both makes it interesting (and somewhat difficult to explain conceisely) is the way it evolves over the course of its run. The original season just started out as like, one of the wave of edgy grimdark "being magical girl is suffering" Madoka-clones that came out after Madoka, (so yanno, if you watch it, go in prepared for it to go some dark places) but it fairly quickly found its own identity and direction in being deeply, unapologetically maximalist about everything it does. Maximum edgy darkness! Maximum awesome hype! (And resultingly, maximum weaponized mood whiplash!) Maximum music! Maximum conspiracy! Maximum violence! Maximum comedy! (For better or worse, maximum fanservice!) Maximum gay! Maximum gay drama!

So like, it's just... A Lot,™ for both good and bad, and best taken at a measured pace rather than binged all at once. Also, while it's technically just subtext in its yuri until the last season, as with everything else about the show, it's so blaringly, gleefully unsubtle about that stuff that it may as well be text anyway.

So yanno, I personally like it, I think it's a great show that more people should watch, but I'll also readily admit that while it probably has at least something for everyone, it also probably has something that might turn people away, with either the plentiful fanservice, or the more oppressive grimdarkness of most of the first season being the two biggest concerns. It uh, goes some places. But, all that being said, it's still a pretty great ride on the whole? So if you think you could deal with those aspects, I do think it's worth taking a look, and the payoff is very much worth it.

And finally...

-Bloom Into You: In terms of just pure yuri, this is one of my favorites, and a pretty popular one for good reason. It hits a really nice balance between the chillaxed gentleness of most slice-of-life stuff, and the angst and drama of some other series; I feel like the best word to describe its tone is thoughtful. It's very well-written, and very sweet while still giving more to chew on. (Also helped me realize I was demiromantic, so that's also a point in its favor.)

A girl entering high school has always dreamed of and idealized romance, but after actually getting confessed to and feeling nothing about it, winds up kinda reconsidering and uncertain of what she actually wants. She meets an upperclassman who seems completely disinterested in romance and tries to connect with her over that, only for the upperclassman to fall for her instead; while aknowledging it's unrequited, she regardless asks her to enter a sort of one-way semi-romantic, semi-platonic relationship. As it goes on, and more context comes to light, she starts to realize there's a lot more emotionally complicated stuff going on, that I'll let you find for yourself.

Very very good series, but with one major flaw, that being that the anime only covers the first half of the manga and cuts off before everything can really properly resolve. They did tweak things a bit so the last episode does serve as at least something of a conclusion, but it's still just not quite there. Unless they do a second season to cover the rest, (which at present seems unfortunately unlikely) my recommendation would honestly just be to read the manga on dynasty scans, or watch the show and then read the rest. It is at least a very faithful adaptation, so I don't think you'd be missing too much if you choose the latter route. But yeah, either way, if you only do one thing off this list, this one is what I'd suggest.

I'm so happy I found your blog. I had no idea Azutara was a legitimate ship in the ATLA fandom until today! I love the aesthetic of bloodbending Katara with Azula's blue fire - a kind of inverse of the blue/water character + red/fire character trope. I have an assassin!Katara AU I've been thinking about where both she and Azula are rather morally gray, and they meet during the full moon during an attempted assassination of someone in the Fire Nation royal family (I'm not sure who). I like the idea of Azula, who's used to being in control and in command during conflicts with an enemy, being rendered completely helpless for the first time in her life by Katara's bloodbending. I imagine that it would be terrifying for her, the complete loss of control, and that the moment would stick with her long after Katara is either captured or escapes. Both Azula and Katara are pretty overpowered in this for self-indulgent purposes, and I like the idea of Katara only being captured because Azula stalled her long enough for the sun to rise. They'd definitely want to interrogate her to determine if she's working alone and whether she poses a significant threat. Maybe she's part of a powerful rebel group (the freedom fighters, perhaps? who knows) and the Fire Lord decides to let her live only on the condition that she helps them track down the rest of the resistance. And, of course, Azula gets assigned lead on the mission. So that leaves one month until the next full moon. One month of Katara and Azula begrudgingly working together (Katara, of course, trying her best to steer them down the wrong trail and fuck with their plans) and unwillingly growing closer. The budding friendship(? ish?) encourages some character development on Azula's part, to the point where she gets conflicted about the Fire Nation's part in the war. (Maybe Katara tells her about her mother. Maybe Azula relates to the righteous, indignant anger of desperately wanting something that's rightfully yours and never getting it.) I don't know if Zuko is there or not. I like the idea of him still being on the hunt for Aang and then encountering the Azula/Katara duo somehow. But I for sure want Katara to escape on the next full moon, when the month is up, and for Azula to stay behind despite wanting to run away with her. So when they meet later on the battle field it's the classic, tragic, sapphic-enemies-with-complex-feelings-about-each-other situation. Sorry this got so long! I've been wanting to talk about this and I saw your post asking for asks! Sorry if I overstepped! I love your Azutara content!

⚠️Long ass XO Kitty post with spoilers⚠️

OK I need to say this: I would MUCH rather people were honest and said that they just personally prefer Kitty x Minho because of their fun dynamic instead of saying stuff like "Kitty x Yuri came out of nowhere" or "it didn't feel natural" or "it was already too late in the season"

Like... No??? It?? Wasn't??

You cannot IMAGINE the euphoria I felt when I realized that this plot is actually going somewhere. As I was watching episode 1, right off the bat I felt like Yuri's and Kitty's "meet-cute" was the most powerful.

With Dae, Kitty had asked him to take a picture of her with her family.

With Minho, he bumped into her with his bag then pretended that he doesn't speak English.

But Yuri??? her car ALMOST runs Kitty over, it STRIKES her, sweeps her off her feet then Yuri gets out in a hurry, worried, offering a ride then they actually have a genuine conversation in the car.

The first half of the season is them being "rivals" while still respecting eachother. (So the whole "enemies to lovers" argument for Kitty x Minho doesn't even work cause like, it was the same??? For Yuri and Kitty?? If not more intense because there is actual tension, not only bickering) Then learning about how their mothers were best friends and roommates adding to the "fate" factor of their relationship after their over the top meet-cute. Finally, they become friends and support eachother as best as they can and as they do, Kitty realizes that this dream she had of Yuri wasn't "just" a random dream and she actually *does* have feelings for Yuri and this. ALL of this progression just felt so organic and gradual and overall just, well-done?? And not rushed at all how some people claim it to be.

To me it just feels like this is the first time in a while (if ever, for ME personally) that the audience of a show got "straightbaited" and honestly? I loved it.

Everytime things were going well or starting to go well between Kitty and Dae I couldn't help but be worried/sad/disappointed, thinking that surely this whole development with Yuri would be dropped and they would go back to being friends but it NEVER HAPPENED. Thus far, everytime things were going good, great or even amazing with Dae, Kitty couldn't help but think back to Yuri and I felt so much relief from it everytime.

And to be clear, this isn't meant AT ALL as hatred towards Kitty x Minho or their shippers. I think their potential is very solid and Minho is really lovable BUT I just don't want Yuri to be erased from the picture by people's claims that their relationship "wouldn't make sense" or that it was rushed or any other complaint of the same type.

People say that while Kitty hasn't shown any interest in Minho (yet) Yuri hasn't shown any in Kitty either and that she's still very much in love with Juliana... now I'm just entering speculation territory here so feel free to leave if you're not interested or take this with a grain of salt but -> I almost fully believe that if (and I hope to god there is) a season two of this show, Yuri and Juliana might encounter some difficulties and break up. Now I don't want to undermine the feelings they have for eachother AT ALL, but as we've seen with this season with Kitty and Dae, the author/writers aren't afraid to end a couple that had (apparently) been going strong for 4 years. So if a 2nd season gets greenlit, although Dae is out of the picture, I bet Kitty Minho and Yuri will somehow end up in a triangle (well, in a way they kind of already ARE but you get my point.)

Realistically we really don't know that much about Yuri and Juliana's relationship beyond the fact that they were most likely eachother's first love and that their parents separated them after finding out that they're gay. I don't think it's impossible that in some way or another, their romantic relationship will end (on a good note hopefully!) To let place to the love triangle. Not that I like love triangles but well, they gotta set something up for 2nd season and this is the most safe bet atm.

On a completely unrelated note, I loved that scene on stage where Minho and Dae were looking at eachother like typical rivals in love with the same girl right out of a k-drama while their "girl" just accidentally set fire to the stage and her clothes because her mind is full of another girl jdhzhdjdhdhd. And that's also a big part of the reason why I'm rooting for KittyxYuri! I feel like a concept like this has never been done to completion. In general the girl will go right back to liking one of the guys while her "crush" towards the girl will be written off as just a short-lived attraction but here? There's still a strong possibility of it being legit.

" You did the job I told you, right? " Yuri looks at me with one of her mischievous smiles as we walked, the job I had was something for Yuri's plan to be motion. It wasn't hard really, all I had to do is wait for Nanno to bring some printed secret school documents to so I could get them and throw them off the railing for everyone to see (and also maybe push Nanno off the railing and then resulting a flag pole impaling in her chest) but Teacher A stole the documents away from me so I recorded Teacher A for her to pass the documents which I successfully did.

" Yup, and I might've pushed Nanno off during it. " I spoke confidently like I was proud of what I've done in the past several minutes. Yuri's mischievous smile turned into a smug smirk like she liked it too, the student riot outside is loud and noisy as they protest for freedom and wreak havoc to the school staff for their lies. We continued to walked through the school, enjoying the view of chaos as the student chase down every school staff member, Yuri even made a member trip with Yuri's foot. Yuri's smirk became an indescribable smile that could only be described as crazy, it was no lie that Yuri loved chaos. We were now in the school's quad where the pole was...

" Sorry, Nanno, but if I want to end the game, one needs to be sacrificed, right? " Yuri somewhat apologized to the Nanno on the pole as she looked up to see Nanno with a ton of blood still drying on Nanno's uniform.

All of us were in the basketball court now but I don't see Nanno in sight... Yuri walked closer to all of the tied up school staff, all of the students had a weapon for self defense of course. Teacher A was looking at Yuri intensely as if to scare her off but it doesn't work anyway.

" Dear revered teachers, " Yuri started to speak to the staff, the students are looking directly at the staff as Yuri continued to speak. I was somewhere else, close to the exit (or I guess entrance to the court) so I could be the first to leave.

" We'd like to announce that we're no longer subject to the school rules from now on. " Yuri announced, and after her sentence, the armed audience roared as if agreeing with what Yuri had spoken. They continued to roar as Teacher A spoke too.

" How dare you? " Teacher A uttered as she continued to look up at Yuri sharply, Yuri just looked at her with a crazed grin as they maintain eye contact, the roaring stopped slowly a few seconds after Teacher A spoke. A student looked at Yuri before asking a question.

" So what are we going to do next? " She asked, looking at Yuri with anticipation before looking back at the school staff. Yuri thought for a few seconds before answering that good question.

" Right. What shall we do? Shall we force them to write their confession about the wrong things they've done in their lives? " Yuri suggested for everyone to do.

" Then, we'll expose them to outsiders. " Yuri finished off, Teacher B looked at Teacher A with a fearful expression before looking away again (gays). The students agreed to what Yuri said again and they began doing exactly what Yuri had suggested for them to do. They held the members tightly so they couldn't escape and only write their confessions on the paper.

" Go on! Make them pay for what they've done to us. " Yuri encouraged as they continued to force the authority people to write down what they wrongfully did. Teacher A rebelled though, she wrote down " You will all repent and pay for what you've done. ", the male scholar crumpled the paper with one hand a little bit before letting it drop to the floor. Teacher A looked at the pupil with a growing and twitching grin like what a psychopath would probably look like. It was like she was holding back a crazed laugh, New had enough of of the Teacher A's bullshit at this point.

Long story short, New ended up suffocating the somewhat educator by accident. The other students went to New, they were shocked to see a not breathing Teacher A on the floor, laying on her back as she remained unresponsive. They ridiculed New for his sinful action, I mean, he did make someone die because of short supply of air.

Suddenly, a loud bang was fire, it was a warning gunshot that fired behind Yuri (it hit the ceiling), it was the school principal, dressed in his usual eye attractive pink principal attire because... Well, he's the principal of course. The school pupils were shocked once again, they were surprised to see him free.

" I'll give you all one last chance. If you're willing to stop, I'll forgive you all for what you did, including the murder of Teacher A. " He said in a monotone voice as his expression is nonchalant but you can sense the disappointment from a mile away. Everyone, except the principal, dropped their weapons, the wood making a clanking sound as it fell on the hard floor.

" Don't give up just yet, guys. Isn't this the path we've chosen? If we give up, we'll become like these teachers. Take a look. " Nanno's friend or whatever her name is spoke, trying to encourage everyone again. I never focused on what Nanno was doing in class, mostly because of the boring classes I had to sit through.

" I think it's enough, Mie... " New said, giving up and dropping his weapon and it makes a sound when it hits the floor. The principal ordered the guards and trual patrol to take the one who didn't repent, the ones that didn't repent were tied up and forced to sit on the floor like what they did to the school staff. The headmaster started to talk about their "peace", and "lovely rules", he even called Yuri "new student who brought filthy thoughts to the school".

" You all were brainwashed by the new student, weren't you? " He said when he inched closer to Yuri, they look at each other sharply (well, Yuri looks more like "lmao get good" type of stare). The principal asked if Yuri was the one responsible for the big riot then they had to raise their hands, all of them raised their hand as New hesitated for a few moments before raising his hand too. The principal said that they're going to " eradicate the provocateur " or whatever he said, I wasn't listening at this point.

" Have you forgotten that the one who started all this was Nanno? " Yuri uttered, looking at the principal with her head tilited slightly.

" That's a lie, Nanno's dead now. Why are you still blaming her? " Mie said, her tone sounded like there was a pinch of anger and sadness in it. I could sense that something was going to happen and I couldn't tell if it was gonna be bad or good... Or maybe both?... Just as I finished that thought, the lights went out row by row, the place was almost pitch black, almost. The students were surprised and confused, did they not pay the electric bill or something? Surely, it didn't mean anything... Right? The headmaster yelled for everyone to remain calm, and just after that...

There was footsteps, and a familiar person doing those footsteps.

" Hey, it's Nanno! " Some people spoke as their gaze averts to Nanno who was on the balcony, watching everyone from above with a smug expression.

" Greetings teachers, and beloved fellow classmates... Did you miss me?~ " Nanno said, her eyes looking cold yet not as always. Her menacing aura was still there, though I can't help but feel another pair of eyes on me... Suddenly, there was... Another Nanno? The purple haired Nanno with bandages wrapped around her mouth? There were two Nannos' now?-

Some teachers tried to escape but then there was, again, another Nanno with pigtails that had green ribbon on them (my favorite sillie nannaur fr). I was confused, sure I knew Nanno was somewhat supernatural but to what degree? Was Nanno more powerful than me and/or Yuri?

" Right now, it seems like there are more Nannos' than what you can handle... " The Nanno with a big wound in her chest spoke to the headmaster as she stepped closer to him, you know, the one I pushed off a railing - which I probably/maybe regret??? Though, I thought Nanno was on the balcony? There's no way you could get down that quickly?

" Have you forgotten that I have a gun? "

" I want to know... If your gun has enough bullets to shoot all of the Nannos'. " Nanno spoke with a smug tone, looking at the principal with anticipation like she wants to know if he actually has enough bullets - which I know the gun doesn't since I "accidentally" used up a bullet when I was secretly raiding the principal's office for some extra cash. The principal raised the gun at the Nanno in front of him, Nanno had an indescribable expression on her face but you can tell that she's still expecting him to shoot her.

" We do have weapons too, Headmaster. " Mie said, pulling out her phone with the flash on, recording the principal and Nanno. The headmaster turns, his gun pointing at Mie now.

" Right now, we're live from Pantanawittaya School. And this is our school's headmaster. " Mie continued to speak, her voice a tiny bit shaky but you can tell she's confident despite the gun being pointed at the camera. Everyone started to pull out their phones too, recording everything about the situation. The principal turned again, looking at the bright line of phone flash, recording his every move. The headmaster doesn't say anything but you can tell that he's panicking with his grip on the gun shaky as he points the gun at everyone like he's trying to intimidate them.

" Hey, it's me, my lovely students! " The principal spoke in a calm tone, the happy voice sounded fake of course, his hands were up (not his arms though) as the weapon looks up at the ceiling now.

" Put them down, my love. Put them down. It's me, put them down. " His voice was starting to be desperate as his innocent facade was slowly fading, I mean, he's technically getting caught in 4k, no?

" I fucking order you to put them down! I fucking order you to stop! " The headmaster shouted and repeated, his tone took a whole 360°, now it sounds angry and mad at the people who had their phones up for the outsiders to see. The shining flash filling up his sight as he tries to intimidate them once more.

The principal turned back to Nanno who was a tad bit closer now, Nanno walked closer again, her hands going on the gun as she forces it to touch her forehead, nonverbally wanting the principal to shoot her brains out. Nanno lets go of the gun, letting it touch her forehead as she makes intense eye contact with the headmaster to make it harder for him to shoot.

" Shoot. " Nanno simply said, a crazed smile growing on her nonchalant expression as her eyes can only be described as evil because that's what she is, exposing evil with evil. The principal's grip on the gun was getting shakier as he looks at Nanno with a angered face but he finds it hard to pull the trigger it seems.

" Shoot me! " Nanno cried out, her voice loud and clear as it echos throughout the basketball court. People were recording the principal, Nanno looking at him with a expecting look-

" Wh- " Before I could even say a word, my mouth gets covered, I was pulled out of the basketball court which was weird, wasn't the entrance closed earlier...?

" You're quite the... inspector, huh? Sitting there, watching everyone. "

Nanno spoke - except it wasn't the one with the green bow tied ponytails, instead it was the Nanno with smudged red lipstick on her lips, the lipstick was smudged to her right cheek it seems. Nanno's hand on my mouth gets away while her other is gripping my wrist quite tight.

" Wha-? Nanno, let me go! " I said, Nanno's grip on my wrist tightens as her eyes narrow slightly. Her eyes look at she's... Observing me like she's trying to figure out what I'm thinking. Nanno gets closer to me, her grip softens before she suddenly pins me to the wall with both of her hands on mine...

Nanno holds me against the wall and leans in close, staring at me directly in the eye. It's very much clear that her intentions aren't pure as you think - Well, I still knew that before obviously. She kept getting closer to my personal space. At this point, any closer will press our bodies together.

" Oh come on now, don't be too startled. I just wanted to play a little game with you. " Nanno whispers into my ear, her breath hot against my skin, her expression unreadable. I was... Somewhat scared...? Normally, playing games with Nanno would always resulting to her winning with ease.

" A game? Really? " I scoffed, trying to be tough and cover up the fear that was building up inside of me. Nanno smirked smugly, I'm pretty sure she's seeing through my facade... Nanno laughed - it was more like a bit of a humane laugh more than a forced and uneasy laugh like she always does - at my attempt at trying to disguise my own fear and then she leaned closer, her face just inches from mine.

"I could see right through it, darling. How you wish that you were somewhere else, anywhere else instead of here with me. But you're not." Nanno whispered as Nanno pushed her body against mine, her lips almost touching mine. This close proximity is making feel... Things, things that could only be described as desire and arousal. Some things I definitely didn't want to admit.

"It's just the two of us here, alone together. So why don't we get... acquainted?" Nanno's smirk turns into something suggestive, I wanted to push her away but I can't find myself to do so. It's like there some sort of force that's blocking me to do so.

" Oh, what? Getting upset over your own name, Mara? " At this point, I was just saying her name so I could stall and Yuri could somehow show up and save me. Nanno's eyes narrow at me, she doesn't say anything though.

" What? Are you just gonna be silent? Not only are you slow at your job but you're slow at responding too~ " I teased Nanno, and Nanno definitely didn't like that despite her body unmoving and her expression unchanging. She seems mad somehow? I didn't know Nanno could  feel human emotions.

" ... " Nanno continues to be quiet. Her eyes studying me like she's some sort of predator about to pounce on their prey. It felt uncomfortable to be sitting in awkward salience. Finally she speaks up.

" ...I can already tell that she must've manipulated you for her own gain... So how about I do the same thing that she did to you, hm?~ "

" Nanno...? What are you-? "

" Let's see... How would you react if I did this. " Nanno suddenly leans in and presses her lips against mine roughly, her arms firmly pinning me against the wall. The lipstick was staining my lips now, her arms slither down and goes near my waist, her hands grasping my waist gently. My eyes widen that the sudden escalation of the situation, I mean, did I expect Nanno to kiss me in the middle of a argument? No, not at all.

I can't lie, the news about Ice Adolescence is heartbreaking, mostly because of its inevitability. Yuri on Ice was a show I desperately needed at the exact moment I desperately needed it. Even now, when I get into a really bad spiral, listening to the soundtrack helps ease some of that weight. It's also a show that I wrote fanfic for before my writing career really took off, and I loved playing with characters and plots, finding ways to weave together all the threads I loved most from the show.

Wasted potential is always sad. The webtoon adaptation for this is cheap, because the ending is bad. Multiple reviews of the original novel implied that the author rushed the ending, and the spoilers I read are barely sub-par. This isn't enemies to lovers. It's about an unexplained obsession, and two characters who give up on their main goals for no reason.

Heina is princess of Constance. The land of flowers and plenty. Her people are not war folk. They grew complacent, so they were quickly overthrown by the desert empire of Nicke.

Heina watches her fiance die during a duel with the fourth prince of Nicke, Yuri. Yuri takes her as a prize for winning, and her parents are powerless to stop the prince. The Emperor of Nicke is a shrewd general, and Yuri is known as the best solider in the world.

Heina tries to kill herself and she tries to escape seven times. She is tormented by Yuri's odd behavior. He seems obsessed with her

...but he isn't??? He leaves her alone for long periods of time, and the Emperor plans to sacrifice her during the rain ceremony. Which is a ceremony only the Nicke family can perform. Yuri doesn't want to kill her, but he doesn’t actually try to help for a long time. Heina lives as his prisoner knowing her days are numbered.

Yuri threatens to destroy Constance and her family if she kills herself. He doesn't even want her to cut her hair without his permission. His character design is also good.

Prince Yuri sleeps by her side when he isn't busy killing. He kisses her hair. He seems to adore her, but he doesn't care about her feelings. He is feared because a prophecy stated he will end Nicke. I THOUGHT this maybe meant he would abandon his abusive family that branded him a bad omen. To, you know, wed the woman he is obsessed with and rule over Constance with her. After annexing Nicke with his epic army powers....but noooooo.

We get one good scene where Yuri tries to show her how beautiful the desert can be. The problem is he killed her fiance. She actually loved her fiance, Argen. One speech about the moon doesn't win her heart.

But wait...

This is the Emperor of Nicke. He has three sons. Yuri is a fake. An orphan from the desert destined to become a powerful warrior. Emperor Genius here took him in, to use him as a rival figure for his sons. It's actually kind of a good idea. Introduce a brilliant and strong rival...that isn't actually a threat. Yuri can never summon rain for Nicke, so he's a decent punching bag for the real sons to use.

Oops. One true son is blind and he can't rule. Camille is also on Yuri's side, because Yuri is the best potential Emperor. His magical soldier skills are exactly what a violent nation like Nicke needs.

The current true heir, Pecsis, is a wimp. His mommy put him in line for the throne. He plays with poisons and he's crap at fighting. The Emperor is now in a pickle. The best heir isn't his son. The third son is already prime Minister, and unable to do Emperor things.

Shot yourself in the foot there, huh idiot?

The plot twists are shocking...ly bad. Argen is alive. A body double died in the duel. He returns with an army to reclaim his beloved princess. She rejects him by the time he arrives to save her, because she falls for Yuri. No. There is no real reason. Then, Yuri loses against Argen on purpose. He wants Heina to be a happy Empress, and eventually he figures out that he isn't a real prince. Which is why he was always disposable and sent to war. Heina probably falls for him because he saves her from being sacrificed...and because she pities him. That's not love...the ending is just sad. Heina and Yuri choose to live in the desert together. Their daughter returns from the sands alone, to become the true heir of Nicke and Constance.

Yuri had Heina imprisoned for a year, and none of that is shown. We don't see WHY he is obsessed with her. Why he was willing to throw down his helmet and let her be happy with Argen??? It just doesn't make sense. Heina is an extremely prideful princess too, who LOVES her people. She doesn't commit suicide to protect them from Yuri's wrath. Her...leaving??? To live in a HOLE??? In the desert??? When she loves her homeland and family so much is a joke. Yuri SHOULD HAVE sacrificed his family to bring prosperity to Constance. THAT WOULD HAVE MADE SENSE. Since their gods said he was destined to destroy Nicke ANYWAY???? lame.
