neteyam was just ten years old when you were born
on a random day like any other day, you started crying in the middle of the night.
surprisingly, he was the only one who woke up from your ear splitting cries and he had to do something before you woke up everyone in the forest
call it brotherly instincts cause he handled it perfectly well
neteyam sturred in his position, his ears twitching at the familiar cries. he pushed himself to sit up as he rubbed his eyes gently. it was way too early compared to his normal waking time, but he couldn't bring himself to be annoyed at you because you're just a baby. and he learned from his dad that each and one of his siblings were like that too when lo'ak complained about how noisy you were.
he rushed up quickly and knelt down in front of you. his mother was completely asleep right next to you. he pondered why, in contrast to other times, she had been unable to wake up to the sound of your cries. nonetheless, he eventually concluded that she was exhausted from her restless nights. his father, too, has been occupied with his olo'eyktan responsibilities and raising five children.
it was his turn now as the eldest sibling to take care of you, he thinks.
carefully, neteyam embraced you in his arms. he had only ever carried you under his mother's watch once, but he recalled every piece of advice she had given him. make sure you support her head and rock her gently.
your sobbing subsided when you saw your brother and were replaced by whimpers and sniffles only. to avoid disturbing his parents, he took a seat on the corner of his home.
"are you okay now?" he asked softly. neteyam observed your eyes that were still swelled with tears, your bottom lip pushed into a pout. he giggled at the sight. "i guess you are since you're not crying anymore."
your chubby small hand reached for his nose and he scrunched them under your touch. immediately, you retracted your hand with a giggle thinking that it's like a loreyu.
your father, jake, had showed you one as he brought you around the forest. and that plant is your favorite.
neteyam smiled at the reaction. He doesn't mind at all being woken up to the sound of his baby sisters' cries if it meant he would have moments like this with her.
imagine the horror neytiri felt when she couldn't feel your warmth beside her
her eyes surveyed the area until it stopped on her eldest son, laid on the corner with you on top of his chest. you were babbling soft noises with a smile on your face as you slept.
neytiri cupped her mouth with her hand, taking in the cuteness of the moment
she wished she had whatever the humans used to capture memories for remembrance
when kiri was eleven, jake assigned her to help their grandmother look after you in her hut
she obliged without a thought because she loved watching you
unlike her annoying brothers, you don't spout annoying nonsense
being with your oldest sister has always been your favourite thing. even you could feel the serenity she radiated. when neteyam was unable to be found since his father is training him, lo'ak and tuk were having fun.
sitting between kiri's knees, your hands grasped her wrists and pushed her hands to clap against each other. you were cooing then babbling from time to time.
“papa gave you the toruk makto doll, but you’d rather play with my hands?” she asked.
her voice made you stare up with round eyes, as well as your ears perked up. as you let yourself slump forward, a playful look spread over your features.
kiri chuckled, familiar with your act.
after your grandma began teaching kiri how to be a healer, the two of you often roleplay in which you are the patient and kiri is the healer.
as you are with her during the majority of time when the warriors enter the hut to receive treatment, mo'at believes that you mimicked their behaviour. your observant eyes watching each action.
"oh no! we have a hunter who is hurt!" kiri faked a gasped and turned your body around.
you forced your eyes closed. giggles leaving your lips now and then.
"what could the cause be?" her hands touching your chubby stomach before trailing them up to your ears. "no, it's not the ears." then her fingers lightly tickled your neck which made you laugh. "nope, neck is fine. it must be… here!"
kiri tickled each of your sides causing you to thrash between her legs. a shrieking laugh could be heard inside the hut.
mo'at smiled at the sight of her grandchildren. kiri bending over to connect both of your noses, still giggling. moments like this, she begs eywa that they stay as children forever.
lo'ak.
he's not really the right person to look after you so jake doesn't leave you alone with him
why?
it's not because he's reckless. it's because you had no fear at all and lo'ak encourages it
you were just two when you tried jumping over a small fire. the fire wasn't big, so why should he stop you?
he was hanging from a branch with his legs over it. and you instantly made grabby hands, wanting to try it
jake feared that he would have to deal with another troublemaker when you grow up
that's why neteyam is always around when you're with lo'ak
lo'ak was eleven when he was first entrusted to watch you alone.
you were two.
just two.
and neteyam is already scolding lo'ak about how he wasn't holding you in the river. he felt like his soul left him when he saw you in front of lo'ak in the river, and nothing was holding you to him. you were literally sinking.
"bro, it's not like that. i will never hurt y/n like that!" yelled lo'ak. he felt offended that his brother would ever think that.
neteyam rolled his eyes. he was holding you by the hip, and you had a scowl on your face. "no baby would want to be in the lake sinking. skxawng."
lo'ak groaned. "she was not sinking! she tried to touch the ground with her feet! she kept crying when i wouldn't let her go!"
before neteyam could argue, you spoke, "i want lo'ak." you reached your arms out to him, indicating that you wanted to be held by him.
"no. we're going to mom and dad," neteyam firmly said.
lo'ak huffed as he rolled his eyes. he knew that his parents would scold him if they found out, especially jake.
you started sobbing as neteyam began to leave. lo'ak is the only person who ever allows you to do anything, hence you wanted to stay in the water with him for a little while longer. neteyam attempted to calm you, but it was ineffective. despite being in your father's arms, your sobbing continued to be loud enough to be heard.
neytiri was absolutely fuming when she found out
jake was bouncing you in his arms because your cries hadn't stopped
lo'ak was standing in front of them, head down
it was when you said your brothers name, reaching out to him, your mother stopped scolding him
lo'ak cupped the back of your neck as you rested your head on his shoulder.
maybe he was wrong for letting you do that, but he would never intentionally harm you. your brother adores you and he hoped that his parents see that
because tuk is closest to your age, she's your partner in crime
whatever she does, you follow
wherever she goes, you're right behind her
the two of you had no sense of what's wrong or right so you two didn't care
tuk was five and you were three. neytiri wasn't home because it was her hunt this time with her party. neteyam, lo'ak, and kiri were out to hangout with other kids their age.
so, it was just jake and his little girls.
jake enjoyed playing with his little princesses, but he was tired from his olo'eyktan duties. he tried to fight his drowsiness, blinking his eyes open. but with tuk laying on his stomach and humming a random melody, it was impossible.
"hm?" you tilted your head when you see a basket that had shells with paint inside them. blue, yellow, white. your favourite colours!
carefully, tuk moved from her father to you. her eyes shined at the shells and grabbed the blue paint.  "the one who gets the most paint on their body loses!"
tuk dipped her hand in the shell and touched your chest, leaving a four finger mark. you whined and grabbed the yellow shell. doing the same thing she did to you.
from then on, it became paint wars.
kiri, neteyam, and lo'ak were shocked to see the hammock dirty with paint. even more shocked to see you and tuk covered with paint head to toe.
neteyam was quick to wake his dad because if his mom sees this, they were all in trouble
jake cursed when he was greeted by his paint covered daughters. he internally cursed himself again when you and tuk said shit because of him
there wasn't enough time to do anything because your mother was already home
jake received a great scolding from her
you are loved dearly by your family and they would do anything for you <3
Tumblr media
it's only cut to the sully siblings because i felt like it's getting too long. if this gets much attention, i might make one for jake and neytiri !

NOOO NO NO NO TAKE IT BACK APOLOGY W TEARS RN IM SOBBING CRYING DON'T DO THIS TO ME THIS IS A PERSONAL ATTACK(it was delicious, scrumptious wow i love seeing sadness) MAKE IT BETTER OW OW BRING THEM BACK(it was so good i love your writing eating it up yumyumyum) I crave more of them all being platonic (HURT/COMFORT?!??!) plsplspls begging for crumbs in tears ill do anything
Hmmm... I am a slut for hurt/comfort myself...
Task Force + affectionate reader Pt. 3
Pt. 1 Pt. 2
Warnings: HURT/COMFORT, bit of cursing.
The people who smile the most are often the saddest. The people who share the most love often don't feel any towards themselves.
Or: it's your team's turn to show affection
It was one of those days.
One of those days where you didn't have the energy to care about yourself. You were able to keep up with your little routines around base, somehow. But it was dimmed, a matte finish to what was once all shiny and sparkly.
Because it was one of those days.
You always became like this after taking leave for longer than two days. You'd visit your family during that time - or rather, they would come to you as soon as they realized you were at your place downtown and not the barracks - and bombard you with anything they set their minds to.
No matter how grueling your missions were, your family always managed to make you feel even more drained during leave. Their constant demands and mental games, the guilt-tripping and manipulation, always made you feel as if you were walking on eggshells around them.
Tracking down and dismantling human trafficking rings seemed like a walk in the park compared to dealing with them.
You personally tried your best to keep your personal problems away from your work, greeting everyone around you with the same cheery tone, and going about your little routine with the others as usual.
But they had started to notice how your smile didn't reach your eyes, and how you seemed unable to shake off the frown in your brows.
And to avoid unwanted questions that you were too ashamed to answer, you simply chose to distance yourself.
Price shared a look with Ghost, who stood across the room from him, and he shared the same concern in his eyes as they watched you walk into the debrief room
you sat yourself at the back, whereas you'd usually choose to sit in the middle of your team
they immediately knew what was going to happen, you were about to start isolating yourself.
they were having none of that.
Price had always kept a close eye on the family relations of his team members.
it was a security measure, after all, to make sure that not only they weren't targeted by dangerous people, but also to make sure they were no connected in any way to their missions.
but in your case it was different, he monitored your family to make sure they never stayed close to you for too long.
it seemed it hadn't been enough this time, and he saw your haggard state as the consequence of that failure.
he would definitely fix that
he began talking to both Laswell and his superiors to get you one of the smaller houses within base
even though you were unmarried and didn't have any children, he knew it would be impossible for those pesky family members to get close to your home without permission
your parents had managed to talk your landlord into giving them access to your apartment - that would not happen under Price's watch
he would actually blacklist them if he had the chance to do so
he wouldn't let you know he was trying to get you a house, at first - he didn't want you to feel like a burden
but he was not exactly subtle when he began asking what colors you preferred on your walls, if you minded only having a shower head or if you preferred a bathtub, etc
Soap wasn't subtle at all, oh no
boy got you hooked in a one-arm hug for as long as you'd let him
that could be a few minutes or all day long, he didn't mind one bit
endlessly squeezed and smooched on your hairline whenever he caught you lost in thought
definitely the one to (lovingly) manhandle you into a blanket burrito and snuggle you into his lap to watch movies
surprisingly a great cook, he would go all out and cook you whatever your comfort food was
it didn't matter if it was 3 AM
you would be fed, and you could almost taste the love he poured in it
definitely wore a 'kiss the cook' apron to make you giggle and try to get a smooch from you
Gaz is the king of self care
you would not let your skincare/hair routine go under his watch
he would do it for you if you didn't have the energy to do so
he would just sit you on the toilet and he'd take care of all the steps of your skincare routine
if he didn't have all the steps memorized, he definitely had a bulletpoint list of specific instructions to guide himself
same with your hair - trust this man with your hair, you won't regret it, ever
this man had magic hands for scalp massages fight me if you disagree
if you aren't comfortable being nude in front of him, he would simply put a chair in front of the sink like a makeshift hair wash basin and work like that
if you were comfortable being nude in front of him, he would make it into a full-body wash
after working with your hair, he would scrub your body down
every now and then he would massage your tired muscles while telling you how much he appreciated you as both his teammate and his friend
after shower cuddles were a must
you would very likely doze off in his arms while he held you impossibly close to him
Ghost didn't see himself as a person capable of comforting others
but all doubts flew through the window the moment he saw your downcast gaze and a tired hunch of your shoulders
at this point in time, you had become about 80% of the team's moral incentive
of course he knew it was quite unfair to dump all of that on you, he supposed you would have your down days too
but you were part of a team, and no one fought alone - be it terrorist organizations or their own inner demons
he would work alongside Price to get you a new living place
any person trying to ask you stupid and/or unwanted questions would find themselves at the other end of one of his famous death glares
or at the aim of his fist
when you approached him to pat him on the shoulder like always, pretending that everything was all right, he placed his own hand on your shoulder
he looked into your eyes and spoke to you with such sincerity that you were shaken to the core
"...You know that you are just as deserving of love as everyone else, right?"
moments later, you were clutching his middle, with your face buried in his chest while he hugged you tightly
he didn't mind that his shirt felt a little wetter with your tears
he focused on stroking your hair and rubbing your back, while glaring at anyone who dared to look at you questioningly
he would let you hug him until your arms fell off if that's what you needed
more cuddles!!
...he wouldn't mind it too much either if Soap and Gaz joined in a cuddle pile - he pretended to be annoyed, but he thought it felt nice
imagine how much nicer it would feel for you :)

Honestly, I do not blame Chloe being more evil and a villian. Yes, she gotten a chance, but from people who don't even trust her and refused to even trust her.
Example: Imagine getting a chance to not eat a cookie (after you eated them all before.), Then your parent is like: "I SEE YOU IN THE KITCHEN!!" And you like: "Dude, calm down. I am just getting my food."
And where everything you think is fine is dandy and dory. Your parents spread your ex-cookie habits to the entire school, even the cafeteria banned the whole cookies, just because of the most little trust there is... about you... And then your BEST friend, who loves cookies and eats them everyday, starting to stay away from you and told you that you are selfish. Yes, you were selfish, but you changed. But, now... this is your life, not getting trusted by anybody, not even your school counselor, your parents and even your best friend... And then this person came in, which is your half-sister, sobbing and gets to eat all of the cookies... All because of her pitiable story.
(I feel like i am not describing this correctly, lol - I tried.)
No, I think I get what you're trying to say, and you make a good point.
It can be very hard to see past someone's crimes, and I feel like the show never really understands this kind of mentality, especially when it comes to Chloe. Nobody's saying she's perfect, but it feels like nobody ever tries to at least acknowledge the few good things she's done, and acts like she's been nothing but pure evil this whole time.
It's only really noticeable because of how every redemption in this show is just, "I may have gone along with a lot of evil things, but I don't want to be evil anymore, and that means I don't have to face punishment!"
If you want to hold Chloe accountable for her crimes, you need to apply the same standards to the other villains, or else you'll look biased and teach a bad lesson about judging others to children watching.

Levi squeezed you as you sat on his lap and played with his hair. He smiled up at you and thought you were incredible. He'd met you after the war by hiring you to work as his only assistant at his tea shop. He fell hard and fast for you and you deeply loved and cared for him. You had the perfect love, wedding and married life. You brought in two wonderful children into the world.
Lilly was your first and was five years old and a bundle of joy. You now had a one-year-old son, Evan. You and Levi wanted more, but you were going to wait for Evan to grow up a bit more. You were happy living in a cute home by the sea and forest with a huge garden for the kids to play in and for Levi to watch birds.
Levi kissed you and hummed in happiness. "I love you."
"Love you too." You hugged Levi's head to your chest. "You're so wonderful."
Levi pressed his face into your chest making his voice muffled. "You're better."
"Mummyyyyyyy!" Little feet ran down the hall followed by sobs. "Daddyyyy!"
You slipped off Levi's lap and hurried to the stairs to see Lilly in a shirt of Levi's with her hair a mess, tears running down her cheeks and her cuddly bunny in hand. "Lilly?"
Lilly opened her arms to you as she sobbed. "Mummy!"
You scooped her up and hugged her. "Oh, baby, my sweet little flower."
Levi limped over to his precious daughter. "Little flower, what happened?"
Lilly struggled to talk because she was crying so much. She took in deep breaths and kept crying. You kissed her forehead all over as Levi held her hand and kissed the side of her head. You both waited for her to talk.
Lilly rubbed her eyes and sniffed. "Monster."
Levi frowned. "Monster?"
She nodded. "In my room."
Levi clenched and unclenched his jaw as he instantly assumed some man had gotten into his daughter's room. "Where?"
Lilly whined and hid against you. "Mm."
You rubbed her back and whispered. "Levi, I don't think it's a person."
Levi relaxed a bit. He grew up in a world where the monster was always a man or titan and he knew all titans were dead, so it would be a man. What he wasn't used to was a child's pure and wild imagination creating a big monster in a room due to the dark being scary. This was all knew to him and he needed you more than ever.
Levi gulped and nodded. "Monster, huh?"
You looked down at your daughter. "Lilly? Why don't you show me and Daddy where the monster is and then we'll scare it away." You nuzzled your nose against hers making her giggle. "We're super scary. Can you do that?"
Lilly nodded. "Okay."
Levi smiled. "You're very brave."
Lilly blushed a bit. "Brave like daddy?"
"Of course! You're very brave like me."
Lilly giggled. "Good!"
You carried her upstairs to her room and stood in the doorway. "Okay, point for daddy where the monster is."
She pointed to her bed and the closet. "There and there."
Levi nodded. "Right, right, I see." He opened the closet and looked inside before looking under the bed. "Mm, yes I see the monsters. It does look like the naughty things are there. I believe you little flower."
Her eyes widened. "You do?"
"Of course." He walked over and took her from you and gave her a big hug. "They're horrible mean things to scare a cute, kind and smart girl like you."
Lilly played with her daddy's shirt. "They're mean."
"They are! So, you know what we'll do?"
"What?"
He smiled at her. "We're going to scare the monsters away. We're the Ackermans and we can be a lot scarier." He bounced her making her giggle. "Give me your best scary face."
Lilly laughed. "Daddyyy."
He smiled at her. "Come on. Give me your biggest scary roar!"
Lilly put her arms out. "ROAR!"
Levi gasped. "Wow! So scary!"
"Really?!"
"Yes! Right mummy?"
You giggled as both looked at you. "Best roar I have ever seen and heard."
Lilly giggled. "Thank you, mummy."
Levi carried Lilly to her closet. "Ready? The three of us will roar together. Go!"
You all roared at the closet over and over again making Lilly laugh hard. Levi kicked with his bad leg a few times into the closet to defeat the last of the monsters. You all ran to the bed and got on the floor to scare the monsters there until it was all done.
You put Lilly in her bed and handed her the bunny she loved so much. "Lie down, little flower."
Lilly snuggled up in bed. "Thank you, mummy and daddy."
"You feeling okay?"
Lilly nodded. "Yes. I'm not scared anymore. I'll just scare the monsters away."
"Good girl."
Levi grunted and said your name. "Help? My knee has locked up."
You stood up and helped pull Levi to sit on the bed. "There you go."
He smiled and massaged her knee. "Thank you." He turned to his daughter and sighed. "You've got this, okay? If you ever need help, we'll always come running."
Lilly nodded. "Yes."
"When your brother is older, he'll help too and I know you'll help him."
Lilly smiled. "Yes."
Levi leaned over and kissed her cheek. "Good girl. Proud of you."
You kissed her cheek as well. "He love you so much."
Levi nodded. "We love you a lot."
Lilly grinned. "Love you too."
Levi held her hand. "Want us to stay until you fall asleep?"
She snuggled up and hugged her bunny. "I'm okay."
You tucked her in and got up. "All right." You pulled Levi to his feet and helped him to the door as he limped. "Sleep well, little flower."
She yawned and waved. "Night mummy, night daddy. Love you."
Levi blew her a kiss. "Night, love you."
You closed her door a bit. "Love you too." You turned the light off and walked with Levi to Evan's room. "Gonna check on Evan."
Levi opened the door for you to see Evan happily passed out in bed softly snoring. "Out like a light."
You giggled. "Bless him."
Levi closed the door and put his arm around you. "Did I do well?"
"Fantastic. You were incredible." You took the lead down the stairs and held Levi's hand as he walked down. "You were perfect with her."
"I'm glad."
You led Levi to his seat again. "Is your knee okay?"
Levi dropped into his chair and sighed. "It hurts a bit, but I did use it too much. Slowly but surely. I mean, I wouldn't have been able to do that five years ago." He grabbed your wrist and pulled you onto his lap. "You've made me stronger."
You cuddled up to your husband. "You're so handsome and cute."
He chuckled. "I try."
"I'm proud of you, Levi. You're so strong and filled with love." You cupped his face and kissed him. "I love you."
"I love you too." He massaged your thigh. "So, umm...do you want to try for another baby?"
You hummed a laugh. "Yes, but not tonight cause you hurt your knee."
Levi's eyes sparkled in delight. "Of course. Tomorrow?"
You giggled. "Yes."

also thoughts on yamace now that you've seen them
Stabbing me in the esophagus would have hurt way less than watching these two interact. I want to give you a proper answer like I always do instead of incoherent screaming, but I watched the flashback so recently that I'm still fucking sobbing. I can't stand gay people and their daddy issues. They make me insane. But since I'm an annoying writer, I will try and explain why Yamace has suddenly made his way to my top 5 ships in only three episodes. I'm pretty sure everybody knows all of this already because I'm late to the boom of episode 1015, but damn, I really need to talk about this or I'll die.
Okay, first of all, their personalities are so good together. They're both silly and fun to watch and impulsive and they want to be free from the chains their fathers put them in (metaphorically and, well, also literally). Perhaps the animation and direction of the show (especially on episode 1015 because oh my fucking goodness) helped a little in setting the romantic mood, but the interactions were all them. These two are literally something else.
To me, it's the angst of falling in love in the span of a night with a stranger with whom you have a lot in common and then watching them go, hoping to see them again- Like, basically being the only thing you look forward to because you don't have anything else except them and the freedom they promised you. And then watching them drift away between your fingers without being able to do anything. It's the frustration and helplessness and the way Yamato's life was the best it could've been and then crumbled down to the point where he had to place his faith in a man who he only knows because Ace talked about him constantly without shutting the fuck up because he's the most annoying brother ever (I love him).
And- I don't know, man. The chemistry is unmatched. Like, I actually felt I was interrupting their romantic moment watching that shit. If I hadn't known anything about them I would have genuinely thought they would kiss.
The whole "You can't choose your parents" and "What do you really want to do?" left me crying and sobbing on the floor. I literally had to sit down on the floor and cry because I couldn't take the parallelisms between them, both being children of important pirates and feeling (a very valid) resentment towards them. It's so good. The way they bond and talk to each other,,, The way they look at each other? This is the type of thing you only see in a romcom. Because quite literally: What the fuck.
And it's not only the obvious parallelisms or the fact that their personalities match perfectly (and also that, aesthetically, they look amazing together. But I think that's what happens when both boyfriends are hot af) but the fact that in the span of a night... Their feelings were so genuine. Ace wanted to come back, he just wasn't strong enough at the time and he was so positive and determined to become stronger so he would go back to Tama and Yamato,,, And Yamato? Waiting for Ace? Yamato waiting for his only friend to come back but knowing he will never do it? Yamato was so cute and excited to meet Ace, and seeing him hurt but it hurt less knowing that he would come back. The fact that he's dead takes that away from him. It just makes him have more faith in Luffy because he carries Ace with him.
How can a ship be so fucking good in only three episodes???? Going fucking wild. Ace taught him the meaning of living freely. Ace made him want to fight to be free. Ace changed his life and, honestly, Yamato changed his life too because it was the second biggest promise (first one being with Luffy, about not dying) he made and he had to actually train and fight to fulfill it. And he wasn't able to do it, but the whole "Luffy carrying Ace's promise" thing makes me go fucking wild.
Well, basically, to finish this: Expect a lot of posts from me about Yamace from now on and also a lot of edits to Taylor Swift songs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is so,,, God. It's so romantic. The lightning. The smiles. The fact that they're literally two intersecting lines that will never meet again. It makes me sick.

Flatmate! / Dad! Matty universe. The band accepting an award. Matty doing the speech. After he has done all of the formalities, he says (and IMAGINE this in his voice)
“and lastly, but most importantly to me, I want to thank my family. Everything I do is for you. Thank you. I love you so so much, my darlings’.
And you’re wiping a tear away, sat at the band’s table in the venue. Your children are at home, watching with Denise, cheering because ‘daddy is on telly’.
oh my god... ok, your little one is three and your eldest is five or six, and denise is over at yours watching them while you and matty are at the brits. obsessed with the idea that the two of them were proper curious while mummy and daddy were getting ready, and that they've put their own party clothes on to celebrate the evening too, despite not actually going to the ceremony :')) matty's like to you "honestly, if you didn't look so stunning tonight i'd literally suggest we just skip the whole thing and stay here to have a party with the girls", and you're like "if i didn't look so good? what about the prestigious 'outstanding contribution to music' award you and the boys are being presented with tonight?". and matty's like "no yeah of course that's great, but the real important thing for tonight is me getting to show off how hot my wife is on national tv" and he calls the girls over like "isn't mummy extra beautiful tonight?", and they're like mesmerised by your sparkly dress giving it "you look like a princess, mummy!" which sets them off on a "let's go and watch the little mermaid" moment lol. and matty's like "can't believe they'd rather watch the little mermaid than their own parents and uncles on tv smh", and you laugh when denise responds "you've got some cheek saying that, matthew, you were exactly the same when you were their age" - while matty cringes, she promises you that she'll make sure they see the boys get their award and then kicks you out of the house like "you're going to be late, go on!"
anyway, the ceremony is all chill - the boys do their red carpet pics, the significant others join them for a couple, then each pair gets a little individual shot, and then i think charli corrals the girls into a professional red carpet pic together too so you four can "break the internet" lol. you have some drinks and watch various artists you like (and some you don't, let's be real here) perform, cuddling into matty's side and just enjoying being close to him, you giggle at your friends ducking under the table to smoke cigs... just fun vibes, really, as you wait for the boys to be presented with their award. speaking of, i think it would be someone really cool that they got in to present it - in my ideal world, because she knows them already, it would be stevie nicks (which frankly you're freaking the fuck out about). and she introduces the boys, who go up onstage to rapturous applause and each do a little thank-you speech and talk about different parts of their career - idk who goes first and whatnot, but matty definitely goes last and discusses their more recent stuff. after thanking the people he has to, he'd definitely say something like "my incredible, gorgeous wife, my favourite person in the world, has inspired songs from every album and EP that the 1975 have ever released; i want to thank you, sweetheart, for loving me as much as you do - it's reciprocated, believe me - and for giving me not just inspiration, but our two beautiful daughters as well. this most recent album is a result of being around my three girls, my family, my whole world and reason for being, and it's all for them, as is everything i do. my wife is here, and i think our daughters are watching from home with nana, so i just want to say - my darlings, i love you so so much. thank you for everything you do for me. this award is yours, really". and you're just fucking SOBBING at the table, clinging onto carly (also sobbing. actually, all the girls are, and so are the boys), and when matty gets back to his seat the two of you have a big hug and a(n arguably damp) kiss. then your phone buzzes with a text from denise - a video of the girls standing in front of the tv in your living room, your eldest like "look! daddy's on the telly" and jumping up and down excitedly, and your little one going "mummy and auntie carly too!" when it cuts to a shot of the two of you during matty's speech, and the two of them getting even more hyped when they realise daddy is talking about them lol. and you show matty, giggling like "well, your mum's never getting them to bed on time tonight with them that hyper; he tears up a bit again when he sees them, but laughs too and says "fuck it. let's go home and party with them tonight, instead of staying out", and you're like "honestly great idea". and you do - you and matty skip the afterparties and go home to your babas instead, staying up drinking tea and eating cookies with them until they conk out on the sofa, then carry them to their beds and fall sleepily into your own, content with the lovely night you had <3

Outdoor School
@oceanfloorfires I don't want to derail a perfectly good snake post, so I will write a separate one to explain Outdoor School. I hope this doesn't end up being TOO many details.
I have no idea how widespread this phenomenon is across the usa or the world, but it is a long tradition here in Maryland. There is a camp facility owned by the 4H club that is used for OS for a couple of weeks in September and October. There are simple cabins with rows of bunks, a bath house, a cafeteria, and several larger buildings. The idea is to get kids in their last year of elementary school out into the woods from Monday to Friday one week in the fall.
Tumblr media
As a chaperone I was in charge of a cabin full of about 12 girls, half from our school and half from a different one. The girls I knew were pretty easy to handle, because I was a frequent volunteer in school and they knew me. The others - were a handful at times.
Parent chaperones did not have to attend any of the classes or activities, and in fact some of them had to scamper off to go to work. THAT must have been tough. I chose to go on all activities that had hikes, and a few of the classes.
The camp site is gorgeous. The weather is always surprisingly chilly, because it is one climate zone colder than home. The "classes" were absolutely terrible. They had to rely on volunteers to teach, and they got what they paid for. For example . . . no, I need to go take my medicine.
{pause for tranquilizers}
Ok, the one hike took them through the forest and also a gorgeous bog.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They paused in the forest to talk to the kids about the vegetation, and confidently told the children that. that. that a club moss (lycopodium) was a baby pine tree. *breaks down sobbing*
On another hike, a different instructor pointed dramatically at a small mountain laurel and told the kids it was a blueberry bush. The LOOK my daughter gave me. There was an actual lowbush blueberry right there. There was also a cranberry bush with one or two little cranberries on it. We had to point it out to the instructor, who said "Hunh. Maybe that IS a cranberry."
That aside. There were many good things. Showing up at the cafeteria three times a day to get a good meal that I didn't have to cook OR clean up was utterly splendid. I loved those cafeteria ladies. I hope they didn't find it unnerving that I beamed radiantly every time they handed me a tray of mediocre-but-nourishing food. One night we had movie night. They set up the projector and the screen in the middle of the cleared area. We were sitting in the dark, surrounded by an impressively large forest, watching a fun movie. Good times.
Tumblr media
One dinner I tried sitting with the other chaperones instead of with my campers. It took me three days before I realized that chaperones were sitting separately. Oh, well. Someone came in and told the lady sitting across from me that "Lee" was outside having a meltdown. She rolled her eyes and started to get up reluctantly. "Um, would that be 'Lee' from [our school]?" I asked. Yes, it was.
"I'll handle this," I snapped, and Woman plunked back down. I did not punch her (but I wanted to). I went outside and found Lee sobbing like her heart would break. She was INTENSELY homesick. Neither of her parents could drive, and there was no other family member able to come (over an hour away from our town) get her. She had called home and begged to be picked up, but they couldn't. I held her and started Talking. How proud I was that she had made it Three Whole Days already. How strong she was! How proud she would be when - not if! - she made it to the last day. And didn't her older brother bail and go home when he did OS? My, wouldn't that be something, for her to succeed where Brother had failed. By the end of this she had subsided from sobbing to sniffling gently. She did indeed manage to complete the week. I told her and her chaperone that any further Issues should be directed to me, because I knew her and her family.
The last evening they gathered all the campers in the main building for skits (the less said, the better) and entertainment. The last thing was a spoooooooky story about the ghosts of the family that originally lived on the land when it was a farm and they still haunt the campground to this very day!!! The kids were scared silly (in a good way). We walked back through the dark (there were no outside lights anywhere) to our cabin. There were about four girls clinging to me, and the others were clumped very closely around. Campers going all different directions were hooting and yelling in the distant darkness.
Next morning the kids packed up, swept the cabin, and everybody went home. It was, overall, a good experience, give or take some late-night shenanigans. I was glad I did it. I missed the cafeteria ladies for weeks.

I was reading your Azula metas. I kinda had in my mind that a redemption for her would come from her resolving her issues with her mother. I think because Zuko is similar to his mom (or at least more similar to her than to his dad) it's possible that she could understand her mother better by getting to know him more. I remember some bits on the show like when Azula warned Zuko about him visiting Iroh in prison, because of her tone I sort read that as she really trying to protect him and not just a threat or something. I think there's something there with him being the last connection to her mother. I wonder if she felt betrayed by him once he left the family and joined the gaang, not just because it ruined the plans or anything but because her mother also "left" her. Idk if this makes any sense lol I'm just rambling now. But what do you think?
I love the idea of Azula learning to understand her mother by getting to know her brother more!
I think that most discussions about Azula's relationship with her mom fall flat in two ways. One, people forget that Azula is an unreliable narrator, especially when it comes to her family. It is strange that when we hear Zuko talk about how Ozai will restore his honor, we know that he is unreliable, but people don't question it with Azula, who absolutely worships her father and blames her mother for her father's abuse because of course she can't blame Ozai. It's actually a pretty typical dynamic in homes with a parent like Ozai, for that parent to try to turn the children against the other parent, and since Ozai resents Ursa and treats Azula like his golden child, is it hardly a surprise that Azula also feels resentful of Ursa? Especially when Azula whole-heartedly believes what Ozai wanted her to believe about how she was better than her brother and deserved to be treated better. Ursa treating Zuko kindly is a threat to that belief, a threat to what Azula's father made her believe was where her sense of self-worth lay.
Two, what Azula says about how their mother "liked Zuko more" is really more about her relationship with Zuko than it is about their mother. Remember the context of that conversation in "the Beach"? It comes right after Zuko's big revelation where he realizes that he's angry at himself for making the wrong choice and choosing to go back to the Fire Nation. When Zuko says he's angry at himself, Azula asks him why, and the voice acting in this bit is interesting, because Azula sounds suddenly curious. Before she was dismissive, although this is also the episode where we get an Azula who does, deep down, long for a human connection. We see glimpses of this curiosity when she asks Ty Lee how she is able to get boys to like her.
Azula's response to Zuko is equally dismissive, because just like in the scene with Ty Lee, Azula can't show vulnerability for long, can't let others know that she wants something from them without masking it in dismissive language, but before that, the camera does something interesting. The shot is a closeup of Zuko, who says he's afraid he doesn't know the difference between right and wrong anymore.
But while Zuko is talking in the foreground, the camera actually pans to shift focus to Azula in the foreground, watching him.
Tumblr media
The purpose of this kind of shot is to position Azula as equal to the audience, as we watch Zuko grapple with worrying that he doesn't know the difference between right and wrong.
Which implies that Azula is also thinking about the same thing.
Of course, she calls him pathetic a moment later, but remember that this is Azula masking her feelings of vulnerability. What's really interesting about this situation is that Azula usually seems to have the upper hand against Zuko, and she keeps it here by doing what she always does, and reasserts that she's better than him. He's "pathetic" and his trauma is a "sob story," which of course she doesn't have. But even in his moment of confusion, Zuko actually has more clarity than Azula has, because he's able to question the way they were raised in a way Azula never has been able to do. The positioning of the shot also emphasizes this by showing Zuko as dominating most of the frame while Azula appears small in the background.
And then of course what Azula says about not caring about how her mother thought she was a monster is her being an unreliable narrator again, and we know she's attempting to blow off something that deeply bothers her. But it's not her mother that is the source of this, it's Azula's own confusion. Because Azula also is starting to realize that she's not sure if she knows the difference between right and wrong, and she's not brave enough to admit it the way Zuko is (Zuko who can't help but wear his emotions on his sleeve, which is something Azula is normally able to take advantage of, but here it gives him an advantage over her). But she knows that her mother tried to teach her to do the right thing, and she experiences confusion over the competing demands of trying to please both parents when the parents' demands are not aligned with each other.
Because she couldn't please both parents, Azula made the choice long ago to please the one who was the most powerful, and of course that's Ozai. But that doesn't mean her internal conflict went away. When Zuko stops making that choice, it's a threat to her entire worldview. That's a big reason why she needs him to come with her in Ba Sing Se, why she sees Iroh as a threat, and why she's dismissive of the bond Zuko and Ursa had, and why she goes after Zuko when he joins the gaang, with intentions of killing him.
Which is also why I don't see Azula doing things like encouraging Zuko not to look at things that remind him of Ursa or telling him not to visit Iroh as beneficently as some. I do think it's more complicated than just a threat, and that there's some affection there, but it's also a way for Azula to affirm her own flawed beliefs. If Azula cares for Zuko, it's in a similar way to the way her father cares about her, as someone she can control and use to reinforce her own feelings of superiority.
Azula can't understand why Zuko would cling to the relationship with his mother, or Iroh, when these relationships cause him pain. But these relationships make Zuko strong in a way that Azula isn't, and she knows this, deep down.
There's an interesting moment in "The Search" when Azula can't understand why Zuko would still be fire lord even though he doesn't want it, and why he would try to help people who resent him. Which also has to do with his relationship with his sister, because in this comic he also offers to help her despite Azula trying to sabotage his search for Ursa the entire time, and Zuko tells her that she's still his sister. She tearfully tells him that "even when you're strong, you're weak," before running off.
Tumblr media
Which reminds me of this quote from the movie "What Dreams May Come":
He was a coward! Being strong, not giving up, it was just his place to hide. He pushed away the pain so hard, disconnected himself from the person he loved the most… Sometimes, when you win, you lose.
The things that Azula regards as weaknesses in Zuko are actually the things that make him stronger than Azula in the end, and that's also at the heart of Azula and Zuko's differing relationships with their parents. Zuko learns to confront things from his past that are painful in order to make himself stronger, to free himself from Ozai's influence and embrace meaningful relationships that don't revolve around control and fear, whereas Azula is largely in denial about her own trauma. So yeah, I do think that if she could understand Zuko and learn from him, she could potentially repair her relationship with both her brother and her mother. There's a lot of contention about what Ehasz said about Zuko being "Azula's Iroh" in discussion about a possible redemption arc for her, and I myself have said some things against that idea - most notably the idea that Zuko needs to be responsible for "fixing" her when she is a huge part of and contributed to his own trauma - but there is some truth in Zuko being somehow involved in a possible redemption arc for her because Zuko has achieved what she hasn't been able to yet.

Hey, How would Jack react if their S/O was married and had a child with her ‘lover’? And what if S/O just plain out ignored him when her husband and kid was in the room?
I don't like doing cheating prompts. So I'm gonna put it in way that it isn't. I hope that's okay!
Tumblr media
At the age of 25 you never thought you would have a small family, but it happened. When you were nineteen you became pregnant with Ian’s kid. You didn't mind because you loved him dearly, but because of his mom’s religious beliefs the two of you had to marry as soon as she found out. It felt more like a shotgun wedding, but again you didn't mind. You loved Ian, and already saw yourself sharing your life with him. This was just that, just quicker!
Ian never gave up his dream of being an actor so you ended up being a stay at home parent watching little Jean grow up. It was a quiet, but eventful life. You just wished Ian was here to see it.
Your dynamic changed when you took Jean to the local thrift store just to have a look around. You took him to the toy section where he seemed to find a blue tamagotchi that he insisted on having. Since it was on the top shelf you had to tippy toe to get it knocking a few things over, but you got it. After you handed him the toy you looked around the cart seeing if you dropped anything. When you saw nothing you continued on your way. It wasn't until you got to the check did you find out what fell. On top of the small pile of clothes was a VHS that had 84’ on it. The VHS tape was only twenty cents so you didn't see the harm in getting, and seeing what was on it.
Getting that tape and watching it set off a chain of events that led the ghost of a children's show host named Sunny Day Jack to live with you and your son. Honestly it's been a blessing he helps you take care of Jean. Always playing with him or teaching him something new. They were like two peas in a pod. Though there was one thing he didn't like about Jean, and that was his father. He didn't hide the fact that he hated how Ian was never there for his family, at least around you he didn't. The more Jack was with your family the more he thought about a way to break the two of you apart. The two of you deserved better, and he knew he was better than Ian.
Fate seems to favor him since he didn't need to do anything to sabotage your marriage when Ian did it on his own. He had called you late that night though. He had confessed his scarlet letter through sobs. He had tried to beg for your forgiveness, but you hung up before he could continue.
Jack had stayed with you all night wiping away every tear, giving you sweet but calming words, and helping you fall back asleep after every nightmare. Then the next morning he helped Jean get ready before you had to drop him off at daycare. After a few days you had filed for divorce mailing him the documents for him to sign. The day he got the documents was the second hardest day of this process. You wanted nothing more than to forgive him, but there was a part of you who couldn't. So with Jack by your side you moved on.
Because of Ian’s career you had custody of Jean. You als had taken up a job at the frozen yogurt place. Berry was a little difficult, but when you brought up your son he was a little easier to work with. Luckily you weren't doing this all alone like how most people thought. Jack had been there with you through it all. Even going the extra mile for your son. He has been nothing but a blessing to you and your son.
You just wish you didn't have these confusing feelings about him.

Bad Day
Tumblr media
Moon: Sun. Do you really want to stay here? It'd be better to stay in the Daycare.
Sun: No! You know I don't wanna go back. They might still be there.
M: ...I know...
Tumblr media
M: But, don't stay here too long
S: They were just so terrified..
?: Who was scared?
Tumblr media
S: Gregory? Please.. Could you please leave me here?
M [only Sun hears them]: No. Please stay...
Tumblr media
G: Why aren't you in the daycare? You love that place.
S: ...

M: Shush, Sun.
Tumblr media
[In the room; against the curtain]
S: Grumbling
G: What happened? You're usually so giddy?
Tumblr media
F: You usually look this sad after meeting a mean parent. Did they complain that you were too excitable again?
Tumblr media
S: Well... It actually wasn't a parent...
Tumblr media
G: Then it was a brat.
S: No! He was actually a very nice kid. And, I mean.. the child tried to say sorry as I left.
Tumblr media
F: What happened, Sun?
S: It was... It was my fault, to be honest...
Tumblr media
S: It was the end of naptime and I was waking everyone up. And th-then I yelled really loud.. Which shot a couple kids awake. And one of those kids started to sob. Which made me cry. And I tried to help them, but I just kept making it worse, I think. It's what it felt like.
Tumblr media
S: I got scared at making it worse. So.. I ran... A couple security people are still there, hopefully watching over the kids.. But.. Yeah...
M: Sun...
Tumblr media
G: But.. But why would a kid be scared of you like that?
F: Well, the kid must have been drowsy. So they just must hav-
S: Because I'm too scary for children...
Tumblr media
G & F: WHAT?!
S: Come on... I'm the epitome of the uncanny valley... I'm quite creepy... You guys [Glamrocks] are cuter...
Tumblr media
G: Are you kiding me?! You're so cool and you look awesome!
Tumblr media
F: Like, seriously you're adorable! How could you think-?
Tumblr media
S: SNRK!
Tumblr media
G: well..
Tumblr media
G: You do seem quite sad...
Tumblr media
S: GAHAH!
Tumblr media
S: Fredheddy Gregohorey GUHIHYS!!
Tumblr media
S: HA HA HA HA heh heh heh
F: and this is the epitome of creepy that I have as a co-worker.
G: How unfortanate. Barely as creepy as ordered.
F: I know! Right?

Who are some of your favorite FOP characters and why? Or more specifically, what is something they character did that made you like them?
For the sake of rambling on about some of the convoluted reasons why I love these children, here's the upfront disclaimer that I'll be referencing a few of the early draft episode scripts (from Fred Seibert's Scribd); that's where the wordy screenshots are from.
[ Tagged as "long post" but same deal as usual - if I put a Read More on it, it'll crash and delete :') Sorry ]
Tumblr media
Imaginary Gary was my first true love in terms of FOP characters. He's such a brokenhearted little 5-year-old trying to play with the big kids. His debut episode starts out so lighthearted and silly with Timmy talking about this imaginary friend who used to attend therapy with him play with him when he was 5. The tone shift you get punched with after Gary realizes Cosmo and Wanda have to grant his wishes too because "he's a part of Timmy" just hits so hard.
I also just love his debut episode because it speaks so much to me about what the show is really about at its core... Timmy got physically and emotionally wrecked by Vicky as a kid, and that's a trauma he's still recovering from. The boy is not okay.
Tumblr media
Fanart I made the first time I watched FOP, circa 2016
"Escape from Unwish Island" is very good too, such a fantastic episode in both context and execution.
Tumblr media
I think Mark was the second show character I fell in love with, namely around "New Squid In Town" and "Five Days of F.L.A.R.G." There's something so incredibly charming about a teenage alien prince who flees his fiancée at the altar and seeks protection from a scary rival boy... and then just, like, enjoys being human so much that sometimes Timmy shows up at his house and Mark is just hanging out in his human 10-year-old disguise. By himself. Because he likes to be 10 and human. Love that for him.
His entire character type of "surfer dude alien prince" is so funny and creative. Mark is the guy who suffers physical pain when he's hugged, but he'll hug Timmy anyway in an attempt to show Earth affection. He has such a good heart. I also enjoy his dynamic with Vicky, like how he still wants the real girl even though his parents cloned her for him in Season 2, and how he keeps making attempts to be physically affectionate with her according to American culture even though things are drastically different on Yugopotamia.
They break up at the end of "King Chang" because she finds out he's an alien, then a few episodes later in "Wishology" they're hanging out again and he tries to put his arm around her while in alien form and she's like "Don't even think about it" and he respects her rejection, and then they still get back together in Season 9 even though she blatantly knows he's an alien and she decided she was okay with it, and he just adores her so much and has ever since Season 1... he's a sweetheart.
Also this early "Foul Balled" script hits the right spot for me-
Tumblr media
Sob... they are in LOVE, your honor.
Mark's journey to being a terrifying prince who feared a human boy to becoming Timmy's biggest fan and best friend is just really sweet. I like to imagine they become roommates later in life. Timmy has to say good-bye to Cosmo and Wanda someday, but Mark stays in touch forever.
Tumblr media
Flappy Bob has always been a favorite of mine. The man played the perfect role of an untouchable antagonist while simultaneously doing nothing wrong. Worked hard in school, started a business, did his best to make it a pleasant place to be. Stood up for Betty when she told Gary to respect her touch boundaries, straight up chased him down to make sure he didn't cross a line... all-around great boss.
Got handed magic and wished to make the world a safe place where people could feel loved and not get hurt. After his world of peace was in effect, he walked around, did his own research, and came to his own conclusion that this wasn't working out. Apologized to Timmy for being wrong and did all he could to fix the situation. Sold his business to Gary and Betty, then left town to live his dreams.
The clown theme was a lot of fun to see in a movie, and I'm glad it was acknowledged since it would have felt weird to see him namedropped in Season 2 ("Totally Spaced Out") and then not have the clown aspect be followed through with... The Musical is my favorite episode for good reason. Absolute sweetheart, 10 out of 10. This man can do no wrong.
I don't have much to say about him beyond that, but he's a fantastic character I adore. I would have loved to have seen more of him, but he did all that he needed to do and he's perfect. Also, big shout out to Timmy for handling the interactions with Flappy with grace even though in this same season, he revealed he has a clown phobia.
Tumblr media
H.P. is just a funny guy. He's the big boss of a race of clones who file magical paperwork and he really just wants to swing by the club and dance and hang out. Incredibly sarcastic. He'll call you "Dude." Teamed up with Anti-Cosmo and immediately dubbed him with a nickname. Successfully took over two worlds in a single day (after planning this for 37 years) and just wanted to chill in a hot tub tbh.
He's a big, sassy goofball who likes to party and he shouldn't be brushed off as "just an old guy who speaks in monotone and does dull and boring paperwork and nothing else." He is very much Not That. Fairies canonically get drunk off soda, which means we've literally seen H.P. drink on the job. Slaps high-fives and fingerguns his underlings. Smirks and snarks constantly. Respects contracts even when they don't go his way. Keeps detailed files about members of another species. Supports his employees when they join music competitions. Gave his godson a nice car and flowers and sent him on a date with a girl he'd already screwed up with.
Literally gambled all of Fairy World in a bet against a 10-year-old boy and then almost quit after like 30 seconds because he wanted to go to a rave instead. Laughs at his own jokes. Complains when his employees suck up to him. Dressed in drag to flirt with Jorgen. Straight-up lost a golf game to Timmy despite the fact he was cheating in an attempt to win. As in, like... even before Cosmo tipped the scales back into Timmy's favor, H.P. was straight-up losing slkdjfs.
He golfs in his full-on business suit. Twirls his club like a baton. His head will stick in a dartboard if you throw him hard enough, and when Jorgen used him for darts the only thing he said was "You can only imagine the joy I feel in my heart right now." He has a laser cannon in his head. Jabs his elbow into you for attention. Always being snooty with hands on his hips. Used a newborn as a yo-yo. Kidnapped a baby, then announced he wanted to name the child Bill because "Bill's a guy you'd trust with your insurance portfolio."
Went out and bought office supplies in the middle of the Fairy World Games. Won a footrace against Anti-Cosmo. Uses dollar bills as pizza toppings. Keeps chicken drumsticks in his ear. Will flap his arms and make chicken noises at you. Monotone "Go me, go me, it's my birthday." Literally makes you use enormous microscopes just to read the fine print in his contracts. Will hand you a cell phone and then call you even though you're standing in front of him. Once wore a bowler hat on top of his already existing hat.
Keeps his golf club on the table during board meetings. Likes to breakdance. Anti-Cosmo started taunting him and H.P. jumped on a scooter and said "The only thing you'll be eating today is my dust! Later dude!" and peaced out. He might be one of the oldest and most "professional" characters in the series, but in his heart he's like 21 and a total party-loving dork. He's all business on the clock and he might even pay attention to you for five minutes, but honestly he just wants to drink soda, attend raves, and do the worm. H.P. is my dear beloved and I just can't imagine not adoring this perfect man.
And he really is just Like That:
Tumblr media
I love him so much...
I like how H.P. was totally okay with splitting the world with Sanderson when they take over... When asked WHY he wants to take over, his reply is "I'm not a hater, but I must cater, to my mission, my ambition, to be the world's administrator" and I like to interpret this as "I don't hate Fairies, but their world is disorganized and I have OCD." Oh no. His hat is also a pen.
Also the OG script shows Jorgen, Anti-Cosmo, and H.P. each choosing a contest for Timmy to judge them on so Timmy can name one of them the "best in the universe." I am obsessed with the sheer confidence of H.P. selecting one task in the universe he knew he could beat Jorgen and Anti-Cosmo at, so obviously he picks:
Tumblr media
(Anti-Cosmo wanted to play cowboys)
This early script also depicts H.P. and Anti-Cosmo getting in a magic fight and exchanging insults like "Bring it on, meat" and "Oh no you didn't" while they shoot each other with duckzookas and magic and I need everyone to understand how much I treasure the bitter frenemy silliness that is... Them™
Idk, I feel like if H.P. had been portrayed as a younger character with the exact same personality then he'd probably be more popular in the fandom, and that's really too bad because he's freaking hilarious. He is just a guy. A dude. He's here to party and make it everybody's problem. We need way more H.P. content out there, I adore him.
Tumblr media
Sanderson I like for many of the same reasons as H.P.- I've always loved dorky suck-up characters. Plus, Sanderson blatantly cheating at every competition he touches is funny to me. He has a similar goofy attitude to H.P. except he's also like, more vulgar and easily distracted and it's hilarious. My boy really broke a rhyme scheme to compliment his boss on the same hat he's been wearing since forever. In his mind, H.P. is just really really cool and he'll say it.
Sanderson loves music, but when he had the chance to describe himself in song form, his response was basically "Lol, I'm about to end Fairy World's whole career; bite me" and I respect that. He is just the perfect embodiment of "that suck-up who likes to drink and party with his boss, but oh wait! He also has a lot of genuine affection in his heart! But oh wait! He'll also screw you over :)" He's great.
I very much enjoy the fact that when Gary called for Pixie backup in the Musical, it was Sanderson, not H.P., who got the call. I like to think Sanderson took Gary and Betty under his wing and might be a little more attached to his dorky music-loving "godkids" than he'd like H.P. to know. H.P. gets to call the shots, but Sanderson will sneak them candy. As Gary starts sliding off the deep end in my 'fics, I think Sanderson's slowly breaking heart is one of my favorite parts of the whole arc. He really likes Gary, but his hands are tied on how much he can interfere even when his mental health comes crashing down. He's a high-up at Pixies Inc., but still can't overrule the boss's orders. It's lots of fun to play with characters who have power, badly want things, but can't take the risk to use power for the things they want.
I just love my little dynamic of Happy Peppy "I'm a pawn who can't cry in front of my godfathers" Gary and Mr. "I can't express affection in front of Gary or I'll get fired" Sanderson. There's just so much pain there to play with if you jump into FOP canon, point at Gary's call to the Pixies, and say "And I took that personally."
I also enjoy the fact that Timmy was extremely insistent that Poof needed to score "perfect 10s" on the gymnastics course in the Fairy World Games and the Pixies bribed the judges to take 1st place, which implies that it was the Pixies, not the Anti-Fairies, who scored a 10-10-9. Sanderson and H.P. are the only pixies seen on the field in that event and I would have loved to see that. Sanderson likes to be where the action is. He is hanging out.
Tumblr media
Happy Peppy Gary and Betty are just inherently fascinating. It's pretty obvious that they know about the magical world. Even if we wave off their weird laser tech and overlook the fact that they got teleported from California to Florida, then made it back before the end of their work shifts in "Baby Face" and didn't even question it... there's a scene in the Musical where Gary picks up a phone that is blatantly labeled "Pixies" and calls Sanderson directly. My boy really went "Dad pick me up, I'm scared" slkdjf I love him.
Actually that's not true, his actual words were "Kids just being kids; they could all get hurt!" and honestly my heart. Like, I'm a full believer that the Happy Peppy duo were in on the Pixie takeover scheme even though Flappy wasn't, they are miscreants, but still... Vote Happy Peppy duo some of the sweetest and most innocent characters in FOP canon, please and thank. Ignore the times they launched babies off-screen, used lasers to cage infants, stuffed a child in a box in front of his horrified peers, and all that other stuff, that's not important. My children did nothing wrong.
I just really love thinking about all the different backstories you could write about these... extremely intense teenagers getting mixed up with magic. I favor the idea that the Pixies have always raised them the same way they raised Flappy Bob, but I think the concept of these two showing up for work one day and accidentally walking in on Pixies scheming to take over the world is equally hilarious.
I want what Gary has- I want the absolute confidence to look a crowd of kids and adults in the eye after they've just been tormented - after I'VE just been tormented - and say "Welcome back, give me money." The extent of the brand overhaul he did on the Learn-a-Torium was slapping his and Betty's names on the side and investing in giant images of their heads. He changed nothing else, not even the uniforms, and just decided to shoot his shot. I love him.
It's also VERY cute that we saw a cardboard "You must be this tall" Gary standee in "Baby Face" and I'm obsessed. This is before Gary and Betty took over, so why isn't it a Flappy standee? For some reason this cracks me up because the implication is that either Gary loves his job so much that he volunteered to be a standee model or someone else took one look at him and knew he was destined to be the smiling face of the Learn-A-Torium so they made standees of him. I love it.
I adore Gary and Betty because they make me think... To me, they're not easy to brush aside and overlook because I have a million questions, and they're cute and fun and I love them. I wonder if Vicky runs in their social circle. They probably cross paths in the babysitting field sometimes.
Also the fact that Betty is so physically affectionate with Gary on a daily basis, but the moment he turns to her for genuine comfort, she bolts out of the room, always gets me laughing. I guess it evens out, because Betty passed out in front of him once, yelling about her heart and clutching her chest, and Gary just covered his ears and screamed that the world was falling apart sdklfj. My babies.
I talk about this all the time, but Gary and Betty also have some fantastic scenes in early episode scripts that were cut from the final versions, like this gem from "Totally Spaced Out":
Tumblr media
I love them.
Also in the early days of planning, the Musical's antagonist was actually Imaginary Gary.
Tumblr media
While it's not confirmed that Gary and Betty sing this song since unfortunately there's no full script for the Musical available, just the first song drafts, the lyrics for the OG version of "Get Flappy" remain almost identical to the final and it's said to be sung by "Clown cheerleaders," so it seems likely that this refers to them.
I think about this a lot. I mean, if Gary and Betty are singing while Imaginary Gary reveals himself, the implication is that they found out their boss Flappy Bob was actually a 5-year-old in disguise who came out to them as an imaginary friend and they were like "Yeah, that's cool with us." For obvious reasons I don't treat the Imaginary Gary plot as canon in my 'fics, but like... They accepted him. Man.
Like... I can never express how much I enjoy the BFF dynamic that is "I'll keep working here even though our boss is 5 and imaginary, I'll run away to Mexico with you, I'll run a business with you when our boss skips town, I'll catch you when you jump in my arms, but if you want genuine comfort then BOI I'm walkin' out." Betty sdjklf
On that note, I feel like something does need to be said about Gary seeking comfort from Betty when scared and her response is "But I don't like you like that!" She obviously felt like she needed to clarify that and I have so many questions about their relationship. Ignoring for a moment the obvious need to transition to a new scene, it's just not a good look for Gary that Flappy felt the need to chase them and mediate. Is Gary okay. Does he need to be held. My son.
Anyway Gary and Betty have my heart and they know it- they fascinate me and I love them very dearly. I feel bad for the fact that literally every fanfic scene I've put them in is just a horrible downward spiral of their relationship and sanity; I'm pretty sure I've never actually been nice to them, and honestly that's terrible slkdjf
Tumblr media
Foop will be ranked at the top of my fave characters for forever and a day. He's just a messed up little sweetheart ping-ponging between being socially awkward in school, hanging out with his loser friends, and struggling against the desire to consume the world in a black hole. He's just struggling so hard and there's, like... no one giving him actual help and it's heartbreaking, but also you don't feel too bad for him because he also has a healthy social life and he's doing okay.
There are something like... 5 or so episodes where you can see Foop's alternate personality take over and I'm just happy that the alt personality thing wasn't pushed as a reason for his destructive behavior. The alter is focused on a little when Foop is freshly out of solitary confinement, comes up again when he's going to school, but all the other appearances are a lot more subtle and just showcased in later episodes by Foop getting that extra highlight in his eyes and gushing over things ("Oh, goody! I found a spot on my body where I wasn't bitten by a spider!" which... isn't the same way Foop speaks when he's in pain any other time in the series, because usually when he's hurt, he'll moan, grump, or panic). It is interesting to me.
Anyway I'm just very happy that the alter wasn't a one-episode gag "played for laughs" who then got thrown aside like nothing happened. Rather, the alter features majorly in two episodes (or three if you want to make an argument for "Terrible Twosome"), then quietly becomes part of Foop's character in a few episodes after that.
We saw extremely valid reasons for where this alter came from. Foop was locked in solitary confinement from the day he was born, developed claustrophobia, accidentally yeeted himself into an alternate dimension for an unconfirmed amount of time while the timestream was frozen for 50 years, and although there's a certain humor in his alternate personality (like when said alter rigged the class president vote for the wrong person) there's also just... this quiet melancholy to the whole experience, this very legitimate childhood trauma that Foop is recovering from... Yikes.
Also this comes later in his life, but he also experienced other fun childhood events such as being tortured with magical shocks while trying to escape a bully and also that one time in Season 8 when the Fairy Council ripped him out of reality. Foop is not okay.
Anyway, Foop's alter is there for him while he adjusts to life outside of solitary confinement and again when he starts a stressful first day of school, and after that he becomes a smaller aspect of Foop's attitude that you can still see in later episodes when he's stressed. Like yknow, that time he literally saw the Grim Reaper and got told how he'll die, I also would probably struggle emotionally with that.
Foop is great- he'll bribe you to spare his life with a dollar bill and he'll still ask if he can keep the change. Disaster child. He's a struggling little kid who's struggling with massive amounts of trauma and doesn't seem to have much of a relationship with his parents. At least Anti-Wanda packs anti-venom in his Kelly Clarkson lunchbox, so I'm glad they're on good terms. Overall, Foop is such a goofy character with a harsh backstory, a difficult family life, a criminal record, and high political expectations and he's also a bad boy evil genius, so like... He's the best kind of character type. But he also has silly subplots where he spends hours TP'ing a house because he forgot he had magic (twice), he loves making prank phone calls, and he freaks out when Crocker doesn't invite him to a party. His dialogue is always fantastic and I really enjoy when he's onscreen.
The downward spiral of his mental state when being tortured with lightning and forced to team up with Vicky in "Scary Godcouple" to the point that he stops caring about anything, straight-up ready to let her kill Poof even though he'll ALSO die just... Man. Hits hard. This happens after "Timmy's Secret Wish" where Foop was violently yanked out of reality. He already ceased to exist once and begged for life again, and then the forced team-up with Vicky happens and he just... can't. He can't.
He screams and begs and finally surrenders to it all, right up until seconds before Poof dies. Finally he lashes out at Vicky and blasts her with magic, gets tortured because of it... This boy is not okay. My man be STRUGGLING. And then the fact that he had to face Vicky AGAIN in "Certifiable Super Sitter" and he just did not trust her for a single second... ouch. The emotional arc of Foop saying "Ooh, I really like her :D!" in his first encounter with Vicky to Foop throwing himself in front of her chainsaw to save Chloe in their last...... Love that.
The Crocker / Dark Laser / Foop friendship is important to me. I just want Foop to have adults in his life who care at least a little about his well-being. He has very few people to turn to... Chloe made him cry with a hug, the boy struggles so hard with healthy affection. He might be a destructive force of chaos but he's also just baby.
I also just really like Foop's dialogue; he's this posh British boy genius who will get extremely worked up about how "For the record, if he HAD thrown a lightning bolt, it would have been done in protest over being asked to participate in this candy-coated farce that you call theater!" but he's also like 5 so he'll just groan about how things are "Super lame" and it's adorable. He has a certain twang to his speech where he'll "spit" these single-word sentences like "Wow" and "REALLY?" and "SERIOUSLY!?!?" and I just find him both refreshing and easy to write. He's so loud and so very cute.
This kid literally runs around on the playground eating poisonous spiders while trying to pick up girls by comparing them to potassium chloride, he'll also distract his teacher by pointing at the window and yelling "A van of rich single men!!" where else can I go to experience this character type, he's the best. He booked a restaurant for Cosmo and Wanda at a black hole. When will I ever be this funny.
Also I cry over the fact that Foop corrected Goldie every time she called him by the wrong name - from the day she came to class to the day they held the play - until he finally screams that his name "isn't that difficult!" and honestly just the fact that he had to deal with that is interesting to me. Goldie knew Poof's name, she memorized her lines in a play... there's no way she "forgot" his name. She was doing that on purpose. In his debut, Foop made it clear multiple times that he hates his name, but he also stood up for himself when misnamed. Love that.
It's also extremely funny that in "Spellementary School," Foop reveals he's never been able to understand anything Poof says and he just has to guess all the time, yet he's also shown to be extremely accurate in recognizing when Poof is grumpily agreeing with him, arguing with him, or straight-up swearing at him and I love that about their relationship. The scene in "Two and a Half Babies" where Foop assures Poof that he can be trusted because he's "not a pathological liar" and Poof just looks at him sadly and says "Poof poof" and Foop backpedals with "You're right, I am; I lied about that" is v funny to me.
Nonverbal popular kid and the boy who needs someone to talk to for the absolute win. They are bonded for life... Good luck, Poof.
Tumblr media
I also really like Poof, especially in "Love Triangle" when he screws Foop over by making him take over as understudy and then he just eats popcorn while Foop fumbles around onstage. Comedy gold. Poof is sweet and forgiving, but he's also a straight-up savage and he knew EXACTLY what he was doing. Love him for that. As good as he is, he still has that wild streak the same way that Foop has a secret soft spot for people. Poof doesn't mean to cause trouble except for the times when he definitely DOES mean to cause trouble and it's hilarious.
Poof has a certain "looks like a cinnamon roll, but could kill you" vibe. He's this kindhearted little boy who's very cautious and sweet and you can just imagine what a little gentleman he'll be when he grows up. I love how the first thing he did when he met Chloe was tip his crown at her, the sweetheart.
He'll jump into new adventures. He'll play along. He'll help you out. Yet while all of this is going on, you can see how when he's scolded - either when it's being scolded for "not forgiving people after they try to destroy you" or Timmy yelling that getting them both stuck in a spider's web is all his fault or even just Wanda telling him to calm down because he was getting so worked up when he was unable to articulate what he wanted to say......
Poof doesn't know how to stand up for himself in those situations. He holds himself to this standard of respecting authority even when he's overworked to the point of exhaustion. When he was assigned as godparent to Mrs. Crocker, he went into it with a good attitude but came home wiped out. Didn't voice a single complaint. Just exhausted. Didn't know what to say.
Meanwhile, Foop will flip the heck out if you accuse him of anything and I really enjoy that... Here are two counterparts, and you've got one kid who struggles to speak up so he usually just keeps his head down, and then you've got Captain Overshare who will outright lie and throw blame on other people and it's just... nice to see the personalities of two opposite creatures truly be opposite like that.
There's definitely something to be said about how when Poof finally started talking in sentences, it was while dueling Crocker in a magic fight. The poor kid had been been begging for others to step in and get Crocker out of Spellementary School for two days. No one was there for him. Poof got backed in a corner and had no choice but to challenge Crocker himself. Kid got blasted with magic lightning, slammed into a wall twice, and finally pushed himself off the floor and stood up for himself. Good on ya, kiddo. He WILL get in a physical fight to protect himself or others, but if he's in a situation where he needs to say "Hey, I'm struggling with this assignment" or "No, I'd rather not hug the guy who tried to kill me last time we met" then oh heck no, absolutely not, he'd rather die skldfj.
Poof finally spoke and the second sentence out of his mouth was "Your plan to absorb all the magic from my friends and Foop has failed" slkdfj. Tell us how you really feel. And then after Foop apologized for a lifetime spent trying to kill him, Poof still tried to extend the hand of friendship, my heart...
Also, the dynamic of "I blatantly do not like Foop, but I tolerate him because he's my cousin / counterpart / classmate" is very funny. Poof doesn't usually go out of his way to hurt Foop, but he absolutely sits back to watch Foop create problems for himself. If Foop launches a spiked ball at him, he'll fling it right back at him instead of eliminating it. He also accidentally pushed Foop into a garbage can one time and chose to leave him there instead of helping him. Love that.
Poof's great, I love his vibe. He's neither a brat nor a goody-goody... He's just this shy little kid who was born a celebrity and has to deal with everything that comes with that, like attracting a crowd of friends at school and being nominated class president. He's sweet with a streak of mischief... He'll go along with a plan to steal Cupid's arrows, he'll eat all your brownies, and he'll also eat 11 pounds of chocolate just because he wants it. He has his share of chaos, but he's a lot more thoughtful and controlled about it than Foop is. Needlessly dramatic and likes doing things with a flair <3
Woo... This post became much longer than intended, yikes. I'll wrap it up, but Juandissimo, Kevin, Norm, Crocker, Ed Leadly, Chester, A.J., Elmer, Sanjay, Binky, Jorgen, and Dr. Rip Studwell, are all such fantastic characters too, just to name a few off the top of my head. There's a special place in my heart for Chet Ubetcha, Mr. Bickles, Schnozmo, Chloe, Molly, Dark Laser, Cosmo, Wanda, Anti-Cosmo, Anti-Wanda, Blonda, Schnozmo, Remy, Mama Cosma, Big Daddy, and Sammy Sweetsparkle too. And Timmy himself, but I think that goes without saying.
So many funky dudes; I love them so much...

It's already a tradition, when I'm too fond of some fandom, I create a new character xD
Wakfu is no exception
Tumblr media
Meet Karin! Nothing more than a minor character for the plot of the animated series, but she has a story! (more about her + a couple of sketches under "keep reading")
Tumblr media
Our "Yugo and friends" group is walking (this filler-style plot of the original would have happened somewhere in the first season before meeting Adamai) through some nameless village. The streets are busy, everyone is doing something (perhaps due to some important event in the style of the harvest season and now EVERYONE is busy)
And then through the noise of the crowd comes barely audible sobs
It's clear that the two most heroic bros, Dally and Yugo, will run to the rescue, because… This is exactly what heroes do xD The rest follow them without much enthusiasm.
And there they find Karin, a little child sitting on a shabby stool, sitting and crying.
And since, due to her young age and in general, due to the fact that our company is clearly not very good at calming children (I clearly see how Dally just at some point says something in the style of "If someone offends you, just tell me, I'll show them!" and waves Rubilax in all directions, which only scares the child (and for which he receives a flick from Evangeline))
As a result, in order to understand whose child it is and who to lead it and what to do with it, they are more likely to turn to someone with a question (Why not, the village is small, everyone knows each other) whose it is
and I also clearly see a picture of how Ruel seems to be trying to calm the child (well, let's be honest that his heart is not so stone as to calmly watch a small child crying who did not annoy him with anything) he just sits next to him in the style of "well, well, that's it okay, don't cry please" and in the end Karin will cry already in his coat x'> and grab it with a stranglehold. I think she will end up falling asleep while Yugo and the others ask around who she is. So sorry, Ruel, but you will either have to wake up the child (which kind-hearted ladies in the person of Amalia and Eva will not allow you, because "the baby has already suffered so much!"), Or take her in your arms, and given that she is not baby, that's a bit heavy xd
It turns out that recently (the fire that destroyed the house along with her parents) Karin is an orphan, and there is no one to take care of the girl, and she has been crying for the last three days (well, I think for obvious reasons)
And that the child seems to have some distant uncles-aunts, but they live too far away, and there is no one to take her there
and here Yugo turns on the "help all the unfortunate" mode, and he will be able to convince the others to help the girl solely because they are on their way to that distant village
(and I'm sure Ruel with his enutrof habits will also be able to arrange for them to get some sort of supply cart for them to take care of the kid)
in short, with a higher probability, nothing so directly interesting would have happened on their way from point a to point b
except perhaps the experience of our company to look after a child and, in general, to feel the power of responsibility for someone's life x'>
I'm sure she'll love Az
she will try to squeeze him because "BIRDEY!"
he will obviously not be happy but Yugo is like "please, she just calmed down-"
Amalia plays princesses with her, or rather tries to dress up like a princess or do something noble but it even seems to me that an attempt to play a knight with a rubilax (from which Dally will be a little shocked because how this child stole his sword so easily xD) will be more interested in her
By the way…
in the end (well, let's say the path will take two days from point a to point b)
Early morning, everyone is sleeping, and Karin is like "I woke up" then
WOW BUTTERFLY
although in the eyes of the child she immediately turned into a terrible dragon, which she, as a "knight", needs to defeat
And she grabs Rubilax like that and climbs out of the cart into the forest for a butterfly
Then Dally notices her, who will notice this only when the girl hides in the thicket of the forest. there is a moment in the style of a smooth awareness of what happened
like "what is this..? ah, it's Karin running into the woods… then ok… stop. KARIN RUNNING INTO THE WOODS!"
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, a dialogue takes place between Rubilax and Karin, where Shushu, without much problem, talks to the child to release him. (something like: "Do you want to become a real knight, huh?")
How the battle ends up:
It seems that everyone is already in a fight, while trying not to harm, because, she is a child, Rubilax realizes that Karin does not listen to him at all (because manipulating a child is a bad thing)
and most of her punches are in the style of "Turn around while her tail BAM and Dally flies into a tree"
Tumblr media
then it still flies into her in a serious way, she gets scared and in general looks … well, scared
and in the end everything is decided by conversations like "Everything will be fine, just let us get this muck out of your head"
(in the background, rubilax swears because he is unlucky with all these possessions x'>
Tumblr media
+ some sketches

I saw newsies at a local (ish) theatre & uhh here are my totally comprehensible notes !!
Crutchie tried their best 2 walk past Jack before santa fe (prologue) but they dropped their crutch while grabbing his bag, he also pointed at 2 themself in a kinda 'me?' motion when Jack said, 'soon your friends are more like family,'
This Crutchie was PHENOMENAL.
They like full on screamed the Strike line, & sobbed when they is were arrested it was devastating
Specs came onstage in his pajamas, in one of those blue sleeping gowns with that one type of hat — also a bunch of clotheslines were hung up & the newsies took them down & put some of them on
Mush was played by a girl !!
The bowery beauties were adorable
Medda helped one of them fix her feathers in her hair before the show
Also Medda was INCREDIBLE. she was on a swing during that's rich, & threw her gloves & one of the feathers in her hair at Davey & Les
The Bowery Beauties said thank you to the chains holding up the swing when they went back into the ceiling
One of the Bowery beauties had a ribbon routine, & when Medda yelled at Jack 2 pay attention, the bowery beauty started crying & said 'I worked so hard on this & he isn't even paying attention!'
Davey showed up 2 the circulation gate wearing a FULL SUIT.
Race had his feet on the table in Jacobi's, Jacobi yelled at him for it, then he proceeded to DANCE on the table (like any rational person)
Henry had Les on his shoulders 4 the photo & hugged Katherine after
Jack, freaking out because crutchie was just arrested:
The rest of the newsies doing flips around him: <3
Katherine was wearing pants that were made to look like a skirt
Also Hannah was chewing gum (not really, but yk) during her scenes (she also played the bowery beauty that cried)
All of the scabs were played by children
The Delancey brothers laughed SO HARD at the skull busting arm joke
Wiesel gestured 4 Race 2 come towards him when he (Race) said he'd tell him (Wiesel) himself
Jack put his head on Davey's shoulder while Les went & asked the lady 2 buy his last paper
Then before she walked off he said smth along the lines of the fact that their parents that don't exist will be so happy
'OYSTER. SAY IT. OYSTER. —' One of the newsies. This is not the first time this has happened.
THE PULITZER REVEAL WAS DEVASTATING
KATHERINE SLOWLY SHOOK HER HEAD AT PULITZER DURING THE 'TOO BAD YOU NO FAMILY, BUT YOU CAN'T HAVE MINE.' LINE
Brooklyn was all girls & they all had matching hats it was the CUTEST THING
Spot bowed when Medda walked in
Spot was also ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL I spoke 2 her after too she was lovely
She tried 2 hug Jack when he walked in then Jack ignored her how dare he, she also jumped on Davey's back when them winning was announced, picked Pulitzer's pocket, played with the phones that were off the line & was just overall AMAZING. she also hugged her girls before they walked off stage for the finale
Spot looked straight at me, winked, & did finger guns during the 'a new world is coming for you line & I'm so. I am SO.
Spot also hugged Race & Henry, & put Elmer's cap over his face
Crutchie was also crying (& very clearly in pain) during Letter From The Refuge.
Also. Katherine & Crutchie's faces when they saw Medda & Roosevelt together. They were so
Spot & Davey also smiled at Pulitzer when Roosevelt said 'Think of the happiness it'll bring those children!'
ROMEO HAD A GODDAMN UNICYCLE.
Also. Crutchie walking on during letter from the refuge mirrored him walking on during Santa Fe (Prologue)
He & Jack hugged for so long when they were reunited.
Jack pretended 2 leave 4 Santa Fe before very quickly turning back around
Everyone boo'd when Jack said Pulitzer during his Rally speech
ALSO. RACE WAS SHAKING DURING THE POST FIGHT JACOBI'S SCENE. LIKE SO MUCH.
Jack was sooo ready 2 leave 4 Santa Fe in the scene before Watch What Happens (Reprise) he had his cowboy hat & everything
OH ALSO LES TRIED 2 HIT ALBERT PRE KONY
Also the kids singing outside Pulitzer's office were kind enough 2 turn around while Pulitzer & Jack talked

That post you just reblogged made me sob, wtf was that. Anyway I can’t stand Mary in the later seasons. She is super uncaring and callous towards the boys, which is just so hard to imagine because that is not how I pictured her at all. Ooof, I always thought she’d love the shit out of them. I mean, who wouldn’t? Your kids gave up everything up to avenge you, literal years of their lives. That just breaks my heart. Honestly, I just pretend Mary coming back never happened. Jody was a better parent figure? What is up with that?
Omg yeah, so good. Hurts in the best way.
I think my thoughts on this matter deviate from yours here, and I'll put my ramblings under a cut.
I wasn't a fan of them bringing Mary back. I don't understand what the point was except that J2 wanted more time off and the writers/Show runners were too uncreative to go beyond which dead character can we bring back???
That being said, I really like the idea expressed in ameliacareful's post. I don't remember how callous I found Mary bc I've only seen S12 onward once or twice because they really lost me in S12 and I only finished to watch it all. I do kind of get it though. I mean Mary had a toddler and a baby, a husband and bam she's dead, bam she's back and her little children are grown men, living a life she never wanted for them and her husband is dead. Not to mention the time jump. I mean that alone is enough to fuck anyone up I'd think. As for loving Sam and Dean, they're not her Sam and Dean. They're grown men. She needs to get to know them first. Knowing someone wanted to avenge you is not a sufficient basis for love I think, because you love someone because of all their bits not just one thing. And Mary never wanted them to go on the revenge hunting train to begin with so she was probably more horrified than anything. I would have been. My beloved tiny babies growing up into giant hardened hunters? Ouch. Also when Mary was a parent before she died, she tucked her kids into bed, made them sandwiches, changed Sam's diapers and put bandaids on Dean's scratches and read them stories. She can't do any of that with Sam and Dean. She thought she'd spend her next 20 years watching her boys grow up, making them food, helping them/herding them with their homework, driving him to little league games, comforting them when they cry, etc. I mean a parent's relationship with a young child is so different from an adult child, I don't blame Mary for not knowing how to behave with them. Also, Mary is more than just a mom. She's a whole person and reducing her to just their mom makes her a really one dimensional character. The problem was that the expectation of course was there for her to be a mom, from the boys too and the show didn't do the best job to show Mary's struggle. They tried. But then there was the whole men of letters thing. And I kind of get that maybe Mary is so confused and displaced that she goes back to something that is familiar and unconnected like hunting but again, the writing was so weak. The subject of a resurrected woman confronting her grown children is so complex and they just… didn't do it justice. And don't even get me started on her and Ketch and the brainwashing. And then they killed her again for drama. that whole story just didn't work form me at all.
As for Jody, I didn't really see her as a parent or mother figure. She's a mother hen type, sure, but I didn't see a parental relationship there. I do like her and her relationship with the boys, I just didn't see her that way. Sometimes, you just have a friend who does that caretaking, planning, worrying, mother henning thing, but it's not necessarily parental. At least that's my impression of that relationship.

i never thought i'd see portwell interact again and I'm in so so much pain. i thought i was fine and moved on but stars no i love them i miss them
"we'll always have risotto right" got me crying. i know people think this was a stupid ship and it's a stupid show but they meant something to me. i love them and I'm so done w people online bullying anyone who mentions portwell (i have so many thoughts about how toxic things have gotten w the hsmtmts shipping discourse but that's another post). i like gina and ricky they're cool i am also allowed to miss portwell
antoine coming back and being like "don't tell anyone i was here i have a bad enough reputation with the police as it is" was also not on my hsmtmts s4 bingo card but then again, most of this wasn't
ej still getting a storyline!! him being a good teacher yes you're so right miss jenn!!!
i wanted ej to sing scream so badly but it wasn't going to work with this season. but ricky did eat that
actually love the way they're using hsm 3 scenes to have double meaning, like for example, the troy and miss darbus college discussion scene
big red's speech to ricky <3
i love this show. i love that the found family is here
antoine and big red????!!!!! this show is so out of pocket i love it
"just in case this is the last time we're all in the same room" i am not emotionally stable enough for this help
the way they're like endings are sad but also okay (idk how to articulate this but it's so good)
"i used to think that strength came from being fearless. but i've realized that it comes from overcoming fear not the absence of it." yes yes yes this is so important this has been one of the biggest life lessons for me
EJ GOT A GOODBYE TOO WHAT WHAT I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS
miss jenn being their mom the found family is so real
ricky's love confession was so so beautiful and the wildcats singing with them I'm so unwell
the wildcat fam being like our parents are getting together!! (about jenzzara)
why am i crying they're just running out of the school together
it's just that they're all together one last time and they're all so happy and i didn't think they would all be there i didn't think my boy EJ would be there and they're my little theatre found family i love them
oh that was such a perfect ending and now I'm sobbing i cant handle this

-> Day 4 - "Share Whump Media"
Last year for @whumpmasinjuly-archive , I remember, this was one of the harder ones to do and I even started making a mental list a few days back so I had one for this... And now I can't remember it 😅. So to the best of my abilities, here is some good Whump Media I can think of right now! (Spoiler free!) (Also Here's Last Year's List)
Tv shows:
Dominion (Tv Show) - This show has so much good Whump! I mean every episode has something new happening and it makes twist that you don't even expect! Season 2 is when it really kicks up so I highly recommend it!
The Almighty Johnson's - This show is not whumpy at all really, it's a very funny show actually but like many of the other media's on this list, it has that angsty family dynamic as well as that one scene in Season 3 Episode 2 with Anders (if you know you know) but let's just say it really opened my mind of Whump with Anders.
White Collar - Not a whumpy show per say but Neal Caffrey (who is played by Matt Bomer might I add) tends to get himself into some crazy situations some of which are, being captured, shot in the leg, drugged (multiple times actually), deprived of oxygen, and a multitude of other things. It's a miracle he's still alive... Well... 😉 Anyways good show!
Thirteen - Not necessarily Whump also (I know, I know) but this show really opened my eyes to the concept of Stockholm Syndrome and it's really honestly fascinating. The actors are all amazing and the music is amazing as well and the story line is beautiful. It's quick watch and I really really recommend it.
Movies:
My heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It Too - Let me be honest here these movies are all about cannibalism and children to some degree. This movie is so good and makes for a good Erie horror movie. As far as horror goes I can't really say if it's scary or anything because I was raised on horror movies and honestly I've become so numb to them so, proceed with caution on these.
The Dark - Girl meets boy, boy—yeah no. The boy was kidnapped and tortured before a girl comes along and eats the guy who did that to him. She then takes the boy along with her where they both support each other and become friend. It's actually quite an adorable movie that left me very sad at the end but such a good movie.
Let The Right One In - A swedish film based off of the book by the same name. This kinda has the same concept as the movie above and I love the ending of this one.
Let Me In - This is the American version of the movie above and while I recommend watching the original first, I still recommend this version too, because they are both really good.
Books:
I've re-read Call Me By Your Name about 4 or 5 times in the last year... So I can not give recs as I have not consumed any other books 😅
Manga/Anime:
I haven't done much watching/reading as of late (since 2020 I mean) and so this is based purely off of memory
Durarara - I might have listed this one last year, but teenaged me was obsessed with Izaya's character and at the end of the anime & light novel & manga, he ends up badly injured and it leaves you wondering about what happens to him, but then it picked up in another light novel called "A Sunset With Izaya Orihara" and my gosh I highly recommend it.
K project: Lost Small World - Aside from me sobbing when I read this (and again when I watched it) the character Saruhiko Fushimi does not have a good upbringing and it really touches on child neglect, child abuse (verbally, mentally, and I can't exactly remember but maybe physically) as well as how that affected him as he transitioned into adulthood. There is also a part where he is sick and Misaki Yata, his friend, takes care of him but at the same time it touches on how neglectful his parents truly are.
Mirai Nikki - I think I said this one last year but I remember watching this when it first aired and gosh it was so good and if memory serves me correctly Episode 25 was a good Whump episode (take my word with the tiniest grain of salt).
Fruits Basket (2001 [no not the new one] & Manga) - Odd addition to the list? Yes, but for 6 year old me when I read & watched this it was an awakening. Me being into Whump is probably because of this manga/anime. One, Yuki has bad asthma and they often bring that up in the series which makes for some really good worried/comfort scenes. And later on in the manga there is so much messed up stuff and I can't remember it well because it's been like 12+ years since I've read it but the manga is simply beautiful and holds a dear place in my heart.
Princess TuTu - Okay okay give me a second to explain! This anime takes the story of swan lake, the ugly duckling etc and gives them something more and Ah! These early 2000's/late 1990's anime's/manga's had a similar theme sometimes and it was a protagonist that is made to be the antagonist against their will and pretty much you didn't know who was who and they do that beautifully with Mytho, Rue, Fakir, and Ahiru. Also I always loved Mytho's and Fakir's relationship. This was one of the first animes I watched and like fruba, it holds a special place in my heart.
Sugar Sugar Rune - remember I was saying these lat 90's/early 2000's anime's had a theme? Well this is also in that theme and Pierre certainly fits that theme but in a different way than Mytho does. This anime and manga is very plot based so I won't say much but it's a good watch and read and constantly has you cheering on the characters but then something happens and yeah, highly recommend.
I feel like I gave a bunch of very fluffy media with little grains of Whump in them 😅. Nevertheless, all of these are good and do have some form of Whump in them and I really love all of these things!
