My Ripp Grunt headcanons

It was about time I put them all in one place because as you can tell I’m obsessed with him and have a lot😭 Some of them might make no sense whatsoever or sound weird or are probably me just projecting but who cares lol. If I forget any or think of more I’ll add them later. Also it’s going to be really long…

Anyway… “So Kai, how much do you like Ripp???”

Birthday

I have come up with a birthday for Ripp. December 13, 1988. (Yes I know December 13 is the same date as Taylor Swift lol.) He is a Sagittarius (that’s canon but that’s why I picked that birthday). I see sims 2 Strangetown as starting in 2005 and he was age 16-17 back then. He’s a year and several months younger than Tank and 4 years older than Buck.

Height

Kind of short for a guy, about 5.5. Tank and Johnny are significantly taller and he hates it.

Identity

He is bisexual and transmasculine. Maybe non binary too, specifically a non binary man (like a demiboy or something.)

Ripp has always been attracted to all genders. He doesn’t really care about that (can fit pansexual too.) He is open to seeing multiple people at once so is polyamorous too. Which can be one way of explaining the romance aspiration. And yes, he has a crush on both Ophelia and Johnny.

He is transgender and knew something was up from an early age. Like a lot of transmasc people he went down the “tomboy” to trans pipeline. He didn’t fully realise what being trans meant and that that was what he was until he was about 14 though. Ripp chose his name himself, idc. He thought it was cool.

Johnny and Ophelia were very supportive of him being trans. He had them at school when the bullies found something new to pick on. As was his mum Lyla who he is very close to. Buck didn’t fully understand at first because of being really young but is still very supportive. (Also Buck ended up becoming Rebecca and is transfem herself but that’s another character headcanon lol) Lyla helped him start HRT.

General Buzz though… I don’t see General Buzz as entirely transphobic. I think he’s the kind of person to prefer having sons, but is still weird about Ripp being trans. He is kind of against it at first but gets used to it. He would also want Ripp to be a man in the “right” way (based on a Tumblr post I saw.) He messes up pronouns sometimes but at least tries. He still thinks Ripp is a fucking lazy ass disappointment overall though 😭 “yeah you are trans or bi, whatever, but you are still my worst son ever.” I think he would be more concerned if any guy Ripp dated was an alien over the fact they were a guy (oops, he already has a crush on Johnny Smith.) General Buzz’s conflicting views about Ripp with Lyla also contributed to those two’s strained relationship. He sees a lot of Lyla in Ripp, in both appearance and personality and he hates being reminded of her.

Tank was in a similar position of getting used to it over time. Didn’t mean he stopped wanting to beat his ass all the time though. He had some internalised stuff he had to deal with himself though (being his own person with his own wishes and also, gay.)

Ripp took Lyla disappearing very hard, especially since she was the one helping with his transition. He was on his own. Things got complicated because General Buzz was still kind of unsupportive. Ripp snuck out for several days to get top surgery by himself and General Buzz was very angry about that.

Personality

He’s a very sweet person overall. He’s friendly with almost everyone and hates conflict, but if he is confronted he loves taking the piss out of them. He’s very positive most of the time despite his terrible life. Very talkative and can go on and on. Tries to make a joke and lighten the mood with just about everything, including himself, even if he does go too far sometimes (which he instantly feels bad about if he makes someone sad.) Definitely swears a lot which his father hates, but he loves annoying his father.

Relationships

I don’t think he has a bad relationship with his father and Tank forever. They make up at one point and maybe they don’t become really close but they at least get along somewhat again (no horrible PSP ending in my sims game.)

He was very close with Lyla, probably the most out of all three of Lyla’s sons so he was devastated when she left, and even more so when he found out she died. One of the few supportive people in his life and she was gone.

Him and Buck (or Rebecca later) are very close due to them both having a strained relationship with General Buzz. Rebecca looks up to Ripp a lot. Also they end up both being transgender which they make a joke out of later. “I can’t believe we’re both Grunts and trans.)

He’s been friends with Ophelia and Johnny since middle school. He hangs out with them a lot and prefers being with them to being at home. He loves being an idiot with Johnny but is sweet with Ophelia. He fell in love with Ophelia first then Johnny.

He met Lilith after she also ran away from home. The two became close because of that. They love poking fun at each other. He’s afraid Lilith will make fun of him if he tells her he likes her (but Lilith likes him too.)

Self insert time, he’s really sweet around Lana. Ripp talks a lot and Lana barely talks at all due to their extreme shyness but he doesn’t mind. He cares for them a lot. He is the most calm and gentle to them and loves listening to them ramble about their interests. He might want to marry her.

Music Career

Ripp was always interested in music, mostly rock music but he is open to other genres as well. I see him as being very into Nirvana. He started playing guitar at school with Johnny Smith, covering their favourite songs. Lyla got him own guitar, and he also started writing his own songs, uploading them to MySpace or something.

At one point he runs away from home and gets a trailer for himself. Away from his father, he has a lot more freedom to do what he wants with his life. He’s still working at the gas station and going to a lot of music labels and he eventually gets signed to one. He has his first major song released through them.

Ripp is the lead singer and guitarist in a band as well as a soloist, with Johnny Smith, Lilith Pleasant and Mercutio Monty, the last two he meets and befriends at one point. (Idk what to name this band yet lol.) Johnny also plays guitar, Lilith is the bassist and Mercutio plays the drums.

His music style is very diverse. And I’m also going to base them off Lana Del Rey albums and songs because why not. His very early work is very acoustic. The first ep and debut album he releases has influences of grunge, surf rock and psychedelic rock. A lot of guitar sounds. And whatever sounds come out of AKA Lizzy Grant.

He goes through some tough things in life which is why he takes a break between his debut and his second album. The sound of this album is quite different. Still guitar heavy but also very slowed, dark and psychedelic. Probably some of his most depressing songs ever. Definitely has a song calling out General Buzz. His Ultraviolence era. It’s a little bit of a concept album too, there’s some sort of storyline throughout. He wears black eyeliner on stage.

The next album is experimental, a little bit of the style of his first album back with the guitar but also some trap beats in there. If I could describe it in a Lana Del Rey song it would be Freak Like Me Demo. Also the most horny album. Bisexual anthem in there though.

The latest album I’ve imagined for Ripp (idk why I’ve imagined all these albums for a sims 2 premade, please help) he explores pop. Lust for Life era (I’m still drawing that, I have a vision.) It’s a lot more uplifting than his previous work and it changes the world. Also somewhat of a horny album too. He dies the ends of his hair purple.

Ripp moves to Del Sol Valley at one point when he becomes a celebrity and gets a house in the pinnacles.

He is definitely very popular in terms of being attractive. There are people making thirst TikToks of him and writing self insert fanfiction and everything. (Couldn’t be me. /s) Some fans are really obsessed with him. To the point they would leak his unreleased music and post it everywhere which is unfortunate but some of them are so good (I’m writing a fic based on this.)

He also does campaigns and advertisements and things as part of being a celebrity, there’s a billboard or magazine cover somewhere where he’s modelling underwear 🙏 And he also hopes it annoys his dad if he sees it and recognises his face lol

His social medias would be hilarious and he would also own terrible people.

Other random hcs

I think Ripp was an unplanned child. Lyla was happy to have him but General Buzz not so much, he kind of hated Ripp from day 1.

He was a “problem child” at least in General Buzz’s eyes and also the schools he went to where he had behaviour issues and struggled to focus. His dad made him see a psychologist. He’s autistic (or aspergers back in the late 90s-early 2000s, also I don’t think General Buzz is the most up to date) and has ADHD. I don’t think this helped with General Buzz already seeing him as a disappointment. Ripp gets really fixated on music (both certain artists and creating it) or certain tv shows or very unconventional things that are kind of uncomfortable for some people. Like literally just the subject of woohoo interests him and he wants to know everything about it lol. I think he fixates on philosophical stuff too like death and the purpose of life (another thing that can lead to some uncomfortable conversations.) Very unlike the stereotype of autism because he’s really outgoing and social too, but it is a spectrum.

I think he shows a lot of affection through touch.

Really dark hc but… 😭 Although he pretends it doesn’t, I think the terrible relationship he has with General Buzz and Tank, as well as Lyla disappearing and dying did really affect him. Has depression and some self esteem and emotional issues and fears abandonment. He has considered *unaliving* before. Also a weird relationship with food. Although he has max interest in food, and he eats a lot of food (but mostly junk food) he grew up with the pressure to remain thin. The dark period of his life between his first two albums involved that and he may have abused substances too. I’m a terrible person, I’m sorry 😭. The romance sim part of him might have spawned from craving the love he didn’t get at home. He feels undeserving of a real relationship but deep down that’s what he actually wants.

I am sorry to him for giving him all these traumatising hcs but I can’t help myself. He was bullied in his school years 🥲 The psp secret of him being afraid of toilets from “one too many swirlies as a child” is to do with this. Tank was involved too maybe, but I don’t believe it was all down to him and he’s a terrible person. With the trans headcanon, I think he was picked on by both boys and girls. Girls didn’t like him for being “weird” and boys would go out of their way to hurt him for trying to fit in with them.

Due to General Buzz being in the millitary, he travelled to a lot of places and moved around a lot prior to going back to middle school in Strangetown. I think he would become interested in different cultures and pick up some words of different languages. He lived in Tomerang at one point.

Ripp is kind of feminine. He isn’t afraid to like “feminine” things and he loves jewellery and painting his nails.

He has a brow piercing and a septum.

He gets a sleeve tattoo.

Has rarely ever cut his hair in his life, he lets it grow really long and he doesn’t care. He would hate for all of his hair to just be chopped off (and that’s also what his father wants)

Smokes, both cigarettes and weed. Tries to stop smoking the cigarettes later on though. Him, Johnny and Ophelia get stoned together and sometimes Lana if she’s willing.

He’s quite arty (his canonical one true hobby is set to arts and crafts.) Spends a lot of his time drawing anything from animals to horny “anatomy” pictures because why not. He takes art when he attends college.

Ripp is a great father. Idc about that romance aspiration, just because he has that doesn’t mean he’s a deadbeat father 😭 Like I’ve said before, that sounds like Don Lothario but not Ripp. His nice points are too high for that. Also being like his own dad would be the last thing he wants to be. He really cares for any kids he has, and the people pregnant with the kids. He would be a really fun dad, maybe a little permissive. Basically the opposite of General Buzz (and also how I think Lyla was.) He also cares for people in general instead of just wanting woohoo out of them.

Ripp is left handed. Sims 4 actually set him up as left handed for me lol. Left handed guitars are unavailable to him to start with so he’s forced to learn right handed 😰 But later on he gets a left handed guitar and plays amazing.

He has a tooth gap.

Cat person. General Buzz, Tank and Rebecca are all drawn to dogs but Ripp is the only cat lover 😭 He gets a havana or a maine coon (or both.)

I think Ripp fits the pleasure aspiration more than the romance aspiration to be honest. An aspiration that involves some romance but also not being a total sleaze and wanting to relax and have fun sounds more like him. It fits Lyla too (another reason why they were so close is that they had very similar personalities.) Another aspiration that fits is popularity, he’s just a very friendly person who loves making friends.

What are your thoughts on a Clint x Nat baby? I’ve read some fics where Nat accidentally gets pregnant and debates between keeping the baby or not. But I’ve also read a few fics where they both desperately want a baby and excel as parents once they have one. Personally I think Nat would be terrified if she was pregnant but eventually come around to the idea, because it’s a lil part of her and Clint, and be a great mom.

How did you know about my Sims 4 Clintasha save file?

(They have a daughter named Katya. And she’s fucking adorable.) 😭

Kid/baby Clintasha fics are definitely a real guilty pleasure for me. While I don’t agree with how Whedon presented that bit of character backstory for Natasha, I think taken with in universe logic it would make sense for the Red Room to sterilize their Widows. (It’s one of the few things that is canon that I’ve kept for my fic Sightline.)

(I ALSO have a real big problem with the tone in which it was discussed and handled in the Black Widow movie but let’s just skip over that for now.)

I think Clint and Nat would be exceptional parents. Extremely doting and highly protective I must admit I see them a bit of a helicopter parent duo. At least until the age of ten I want to say, when they start to loosen up their reigns as they finally start to believe that their child is safe. I think they would also retire from both SHIELD and Avenging, I don’t think Natasha much less Clint would be able to handle the separation and uncertainty in leaving for missions for months at a time. Clint is also immediately a girl dad. (I can’t help but picture Jeremy Renner a bit as I type this. Which hilariously shines a glaring light on my own father issues, but like in a ‘awww I wish o had that!’ way.)

I think it’s rather a cliche in the fandom to imagine them having a little girl, and I’m firmly one million percent within that camp. I genuinely can’t picture them having a boy for their first kid. (Yes, I said first. They have two! A girl and a boy roughly three years apart. They live in my head as a happy little family on a farm in the cornfields of Iowa and I love them very much.)

As for the pregnancy—it was fucking brutal! For my headcanon of a non-sterilized Natasha the Red Room kept them continually supplied with birth control and other hormonal blockers to the point that it was actually assumed that she would not be able to get pregnant or at the very least it would be rare. That one in a million chance happened after a particularly nasty fight when Natasha ran into the line of fire to save Steve. Cue a couple of thrown dishes and Clint growling into her ear and pinned to the bed.

“I’m not fucking losing you, do you hear me, Tasha!”

It was very hot and very intense and oops!

What really was difficult about the pregnancy, you know besides being pregnant (her back hurt like a son of a birch) was the emotional torrent that it brought. Sleepless nights, constant worry, questioning if she even wanted to keep it, followed by a surreal disbelief that she was even pregnant. It was a body horror watching and then feeling a tiny baby growing inside her. In the end she decided to keep it, partly as one last fuck you to the Red Room and her past but also because it was part Clint too. When she told him, it was in the middle of a firefight. (He would later tell her that her timing was shit.) As soon as the words left her mouth he looked at her for a good five seconds, blinked and then nodded to himself. He then, without any of the fanfare, dispatched the ten guys shooting at them, clean kills. All ten headshots. One right after the other with the cold efficiency she’s only ever seen once before when she was captured and tortured for three months.

Katya Philomena Romanoff-Barton was born November 16th. Three months premature, and weighing two pounds and thirteen ounces. She has blue eyes like her father and the freckles and red hair of her mother. They were able to bring her home after a year in the NICU.

She starts her Freshmen year at Princeton this year, double majoring in International Politics and Psychology, with an applied minor in History. She has one championship trophy in Olympic Archery and does Ballet in her free time.

BNHA HEADCANONS— dekusquad polyamorous relationship headcanons

NOTES: BOOM! Surprise, Alex! Bet you weren’t expecting this. I wish I had time to add more than I did, but I sadly don’t have the time to add anything else. Hopefully, this gives you some starters if you decide to post your own Dekusquad headcanons. Enjoy!

Todoroki treats his lovers the same after they become official. He doesn’t show very much affection than how he acted when they were friends. As the relationship progressed, Todoroki got used to subtle forms of PDA.

Izuku is definitely one of the shyer people in the group when it comes to affection. He gets flustered very easily, and he stutters and blushes a lot, too, in regards to PDA.

Shinsou is a tease omg 😳✋🏼 He gets very amused when he manages to fluster any of his girlfriends and/or girlfriends.

Shinsou also really likes to take naps with his lovers. I can see him getting a little cuddly during these moments, too.

This is a thought that legit just entered my mind, so you may not agree with this. If you think about it, Izuku, Iida, Momo, and Todoroki (along with Eijiou and Ash) have broken the law lol. They all broke the law when they went to do hero work without a hero license when Katsuki was kidnapped by the League of Villains. Iida planned to kill Stain (and attempted to kill him), and Izuku and Todoroki helped him. Just food for thought 🤔

I feel like the majority of the Dekusquad is touch starved lol 💀

Izuku says “sorry” and “excuse me” a lot for no reason. Like bro relax you didn’t cut my arm off or anything you just brushed your arm against mine by accident ✋🏼😭

These guys definitely hang out at the library a lot. It’s one of their favorite places to hang out at.

Tsu mutters insults under her breath.

Stuff like “istg Mineta if you do that one more time I’ll kill you.”

“Did you say something, Tsu?”

Tsu also has some frog plushies in her dorm room, and she named them really cute names, too.

Uraraka bakes things for her lovers. She’ll have Sato help her out sometimes.

Iida is legit such a gentleman. He’ll hold the doors for his lovers, pull out the chairs for them, etc.

Study. Dates!! The Dekusquad holds these study dates frequently (and unlike the Bakusquad, the Dekusquad actually gets shit done lol 😝😝)

I think it’s a cute idea that the Dekusquad have picnic dates a couple of times a month. Alex was the one who initially suggested it to her girlfriends and boyfriends.

The Dekusquad has sleepovers two times a month. Usually, they’ll have different combos for different nights because some of them are busy.

wild born reread

LET’S GO!!! i’m so excited to dive back into this series, it’s been long enough that i’ve forgotten a lot of the details so it’ll be like discovering it anew! and i will be documenting my thoughts here for science :)

first of all, these covers are seriously epic. i still think they’re the best covers i’ve seen for any children’s book, and i’ve seen a lot in my time. they’re just so good. they could’ve been a little more consistent with the appearances of some characters, but they’re set up so dramatically that i can’t really complain.

ah yes, the vignettes on the inside covers. love em.

the map of erdas is wonderful too. even if it’s so obviously meant to mirror earth.

chapter 1 — briggan

holy shit poor conor 😭 imagine having to be a servant to pay off your dad’s debt like TALK ABOUT UNFAIR

AND HE HAS TO DO THIS FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS? HOW MUCH DOES THIS GUY OWE?

apparently it runs in the family cuz dawson’s even funnier. i wonder what daphne’s like.

how old is dawson? probably only about a year younger than devin and conor considering he summoned rumfuss in fall of the beasts pt 1 but i always pictured him as like, 8 or 9 here

ohhh so tarik and isilla knew briggan was gonna appear that day... did they know which of the three kids would summon him or naw?

poor conor omg. he summons a spirit animal, of a species that he has traumatic memories associated with, AND it’s a long-dead great beast, and before he can properly process all of this he’s just. sprung upon by tarik. 😭😭

chapter 2 — uraza

INTRODUCING: MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER!!!!

abeke i missed you so much

i love how she shows respect for the animal she hunted.

soama is only 12?? i always got the sense she was older than that. like 14-15 in this book. i’m gonna keep imagining that.

abeke with the dry humour. (literally)

“but [she] had long ago lost the contest of beauty to her sister...” what. the contest of what? why is there a... this is.. unless it’s a metaphorrrrrr...? yknow what never mind

abeke gets her height from her father i’m sure! i like to think soama is really tall too. tall fam.

poor abeke wtf. like pojalo dude you taught her to hunt. what a loser. she did nothing wrong!

ABEKE’S MOM MENTION... i wish we knew more about her. “[she] had never been strong, and had been taken by sickness” this is interesting when you consider the meaning of abeke’s name, ‘we begged for her’. obviously this could be a reference to things that happened later in abeke’s life, like her being a rain dancer and ending the drought. BUT. i think it’s also possible abeke’s mom didn’t know if she’d be able to have another child due to her constant frailness, despite wanting one dearly. maybe the pregnancy or the birth was difficult. but then she had abeke! and maybe that’s why she named her that!

abeke i need to get you outta this village. honey you’re comin with me.

my long-time headcanon is that chinwe is abeke’s aunt, the sister of her mom. (that makes abeke and irtike cousins!) maybe the root and nut soup is a traditional family thing for abeke’s maternal side, and chinwe like... sprinkled some stuff from the recipe into the nectar 😭 as a treat.

URAZA’S HERE!

in hindsight of tales of the great beasts, it’s interesting how affectionate uraza is with abeke. immediately too. as a real great beast, she looked on humans with heavy disdain. she took her sweet time warming up to tembo. so what’s with the nuzzling right from the get-go? shouldn’t she be... confused? and cold when she realizes what’s happening? i think that would’ve been an interesting route to take tbh.

maybe she only has respect and love for black women. honestly same, girl.

OR maybe, just maybe, abeke is descended from tembo and uraza somehow knows this. that would be cute. “oh you’re a descendant of my favourite little human. i like you.”

if i was writing this book i would make uraza take a little while to get comfortable with abeke, and especially being abeke’s spirit animal. great beast uraza would be utterly disturbed at the thought of being someone’s spirit animal, i’m sure. but once uraza realized how chill and respectful abeke is (so like... by the time they’re on the ship and training with shane) she’d start warming up. she’d probably still be the first of the four fallen to go into passive state. bc uraza knows abeke’s just that cool.

“the village suddenly seemed... confining. she needed to get away!” i know this is just bc she has leopard brain for a fraction of a second, but damn. i’m seeing a second meaning there.

how is pojalo still mad. holy shit. i do not like this man. show some gratitude. have some pride in your daughter. she ended a fucking drought at age 11 AND WHAT HAS SOAMA DONE???

soama calling uraza an ‘it’ 😭 have some respect god damn? i’m starting to think maybe this family doesn’t like the great beasts very much? or maybe they don’t even believe in them?

so pojalo’s just okay with shipping his 11 year old daughter off somewhere. with a strange adult man. WHAT THE FUCK! is he stupid?

i suppose they were speaking their native language for most of this, up until they met zerif. then they switched to common. although i wouldn’t be surprised if zerif could speak their language too... he probably knows a lot of languages.

i think the same would be true for the other kids. (including conor; i believe eurans have their own languages too, like welsh and gaelic. stetriolans as well, i suppose. common isn’t a historically white person thing, it’s always been a means of worldwide communication. it isn’t even comparable to english.)

chapter 3 — jhi

meilin !!

i like how different regions have different beliefs about bonding. in eura, conor says the first person to drink the nectar of ninani has the best chance of summoning an animal. in zhong, meilin says the last person to drink has the best chance. neat. i wonder who’s right! maybe no one... or maybe meilin, bc conor was last to drink and called briggan.

i wanna know what meilin’s mom’s spirit animal was.

holy shit all of meilin’s grandparents and great-grandparents had spirit animals??? literally her whole family?? except teng?? if i was him i’d never show my face.

interesting how snow leopards can presumably be spirit animals, but not african (well, niloan) leopards, thanks to uraza. i guess subspecies are safe? does that mean you can call african (niloan) elephants? since dinesh is presumably an asian (zhongese) elephant?

oh, clouded leopards can be summoned too! sheyu has one!

(about lenori) “the feathers in her hair gave her away as an amayan” is this confirmation that amayans are meant to mirror native people?

ALSO IM CONFUSED. was sheyu in on this? the plot to give meilin the bile? or did he not even know the liquid wasn’t the nectar? how did the bile even end up in that decanter? who put it there? i have Questions.

JHI’S HERE!

“meilin has fulfilled a prophecy that most have forgotten” apparently i’m one of them because i don’t remember this prophecy? who gave it and when? what was the exact wording of it? was it tellun’s words to essix in tales of the great beasts, right before she died? maybe tellun delivered the prophecy to the first greencloaks that the four fallen would one day rise again and be bonded to humans.

meilin is amazingly composed for an 11 year old.

imagine being jhi 😭 ur killed and then u wake up right back in the middle of a battle 😭😭

chapter 4 — essix

ROLLAN I LOVE YOU!!! he’s def one of my favourite characters.

how did this kid end up with a name like digger tho 😭

“amaya was a young continent” interesting. this must have been retconned bc amaya has been around for literally forever but anyway

“[smarty’s] nickname was a joke, not a compliment” DAMN.

okay so he’s really goin to jail for tryna save a kid’s life. amazing. how can they just throw an 11 year old in there anyway?

never mind, a 12 year old! so rollan really is a year older than the other three! i didn’t remember him being 12 the very next month lol.

“actually i’m a lost prince. if you take me back to eura, my father will reward you.” this guy is a RIOT

i admire rollan for being able to be outrageously funny while sitting behind bars.

i think it’s really interesting how all marked people are expected to become greencloaks, and the ones who don’t are regarded as anomalies. i think this got retconned further down the line because i remember a large amount of marked people in the later books who had no allegiance.

tbh none of the four had very good nectar ceremonies really... i think meilin was the only one who might have enjoyed hers to some degree. but then she was given the bile and war broke out. so yeah, none of the four got a good nectar ceremony.

and yet they all summoned great beasts!

rollan loves sweetened cinnamon toast. storing this information in my brain.

i love how rollan is so nonchalant about summoning a spirit animal.

i wonder what happened to the greencloak girl. did zerif kill her? it feels implied but i hope she got away somehow.

WONDER WHAT WOULD’VE WENT DOWN IF ROLLAN WENT WITH ZERIF.... au where the four fallen are divided, conor and meilin spearheading the greencloak force and abeke and rollan spearheading the conqueror force. them fighting each other. abeke never switching sides. enemies-and-lovers reilin. oughhj

headcanon: rollan is the best sprinter of the four. if he can hold his own against a jackal, he’s gotta be really fast. abeke’s second fastest (rollan would only beat her in a race by like a second) but she’s more of an endurance gal.

olvan’s appearance is so random and chaotic LOL.

chapter 5 — training

abeke chapter yippee! hey girl!

SHANE TIME!!!!!!!!! i love shane. second favourite character since 2015.

in wild born abeke says he’s 12, but in the book of shane: venom he states he’s just turned 13 or something. and that was before he even met abeke. was this a mistake or did he lie about his age? if so, why lie about that? but yeah i consider him to be two years older than the four (minus rollan who is 12).

“he was pale, but handsome” i love this. abeke thinks being white is a disadvantage. me too, girl.

“i had to leave my parents too” that’s a lie because they’ve both BEEN dead for some time iirc...

i think it would be awesome if uraza could understand abeke’s native language as well as common. i’m certain she does but i wanna see it confirmed. maybe she knows many niloan languages and dialects.

“when she was a great beast, uraza was larger than a horse” actually she was the size of balerion the dread, THANK YOU! gawd. i wish they made the great beasts really massive, not just two or three times the size of the average animal of their species.

spirit animals always arrive as adults yada yada okay fine. but in MY personal opinion i wish they arrived in the prepubescent/early teen stage that their human partners are when they summon them. like wouldn’t that make more sense?? and then human and animal would grow together. (it’d be different for the great beasts, tho, of course.)

i love the little hints and suggestions sprinkled throughout the series that someday the four fallen will grow and regain their former glory.

aww uraza likes abeke.

i would have loved to see abeke using a spear in battle. she says she’s used one before! how badass would it be to see abeke taking somebody the fuck OUT by hurling a spear at them? headcanon: abeke’s impressive aim that she canonically has while using a bow transfers over to other things, so she’d have great aim with a spear too. ALSO. IN MY HEAD ABEKE IS A TEMBO DESCENDANT. AND TEMBO WAS GREAT WITH A SPEAR. SO GREAT THAT HE KILLED FELIANDOR WITH ONE.

from the way abeke’s talking, shane must be kind of a big guy. she’s saying she’d never beat him in an open confrontation, yet shane is always described as lean, not beefy. maybe he’s just... tall? but abeke’s tall. maybe he’s... really tall?

oh i love their dynamic already. my babies.

why would the assassin go for shane tho? he’s nobody important, or at least he’s not supposed to be. is this an allusion to shane’s greater role, that someone would try to assassinate him...? if so, that’s really fucking cool and i never thought of that before.

ngl what shane did was kind of a good training technique but i can understand why abeke would be mad.

tarik is back!!! why do i not remember him being described as “grim” and “the sort of stranger rollan would have avoided on the streets of concorba”? i always pictured tarik looking like a warm, open, honest guy. wow. this actually shakes my whole world up.

the way they started out being awkward with each other omfg. crazy.

“you got me. i’m actually olvan’s son. he’s having me spy on you.” rollan has The best lines.

oh meilin is not a greencloak yet? i remembered her and conor both wearing the green by the time they met up with rollan. so conor was actually the first of the four to become a greencloak.

someone needs to draw rollan, conor and meilin over that one meme with the three wolves where two of them are laughing and the third is looking disappointed. because that’s them rn.

i like the subtle hints that meilin and jhi’s bond is unnatural. like when meilin calls jhi into passive state, it’s instant.

i think the greencloaks are a little fucked up for expecting these 11 year old children to be their champions, but oh well. i love the greencloaks, just ...

chapter 8 — the island

ABEKE AND SHANE CHAPTER!!! girl dinner honestly.

the mention of a “large yellow moon” and the size of the moon on broken ground’s cover makes me wonder if erdas’s moon[s] are bigger or closer than ours.

first mention of whale-towed ships!!! i love the whales and i love how that’s something unique to erdas.

also i don’t remember all this detail when i read this chapter before, wow.

nooo not the bile-enhanced animals :(

they lost the parrot... does that mean there’s i a bile-transformed demon parrot on the loose somewhere? or did it get away before they fed it the bile?

oh never mind, the screaming abeke heard was from the first rat. so the escaped parrot is probably normal. i still think it’d be cool if there were bile-enhanced monster animals, escaped experiments, lurking in erdas’s wildernesses.

URAZA SAVING ABEKE’S LIFE OHHH IM SO HERE FOR IT. she loves that girl down!

chapter 9 — vision

i wish briggan’s titles (packleader, moonrunner, pathfinder) were used more. they’re great. i wonder if any of the other great beasts have similar titles.

i love how lenori is a great seer yet seems to be an uncomfortable person to be around, despite her gentle demeanour. beautiful but unsettling women >>>

i completely forgot that the talismans are only able to be accessed by the marked. so for example, after losing grahv, shane wouldn’t be able to use a talisman.

anddddd now they’re gonna send children into the wild to possibly be killed or eaten by gigantic beasts. lovely.

chapter 10 — dream

“jhi felt warm and perfect. meilin embraced her for a long time, sinking into her thick fur and enjoying her scent as never before.” that’s really cute.

chapter 11 — gar

i love when abeke is smug. she somehow manages to stay completely innocent while doing it.

it’s interesting how there’s always a “searing pain” when spirit animals go passive. could that be a clever tie-in to how real tattoos hurt when you get them inked? the marked never have to have an appointment with a tattoo artist to get the ink on their skin, but every time they call their animal into passive form, they feel the pain.

the guards bowed to shane... possible hint at his real identity?

i love how salties on erdas are bigger than salties on earth.

and here comes the manipulation...

wait why the fuck is zerif talking like he also hails from stetriol? “we were the first continent [the devourer] conquered...” “we were grateful when the greencloaks freed us...” “we had suffered under the tyranny of the devourer...” “only by hiding did any of us survive.” this has to be a lie. i’m pretty sure zerif is implied to be from like... southwestern zhong maybe. or northern nilo. i know he has no confirmed heritage and isn’t supposed to BUT? there’s no way he’s from stetriol? or is he?

“[my bonding] occurred without any nectar” he’s not actually lying!

not even gonna lie i don’t get why gar and zerif and everyone didn’t just tell it straight and admit to abeke that they were conquerors. they were manipulating the story perfectly. they already kinda got her believing the greencloaks were messed up, they could have easily added “the conquerors were the good guys and they lied to you” into the mix. don’t understand why they didn’t take the final step. abeke having been an actual conqueror and knowing it would’ve made for a very interesting storyline indeed. (this is my canon)

chapter 12 — boulder city

chapter 13 — barlow and monte

OH MONTE LITERALLY CALLS BARLOW HIS PARTNER? i was right. husbands.

they’re literally bear and otter coded idk what to tell you IS THIS AN INSTANCE OF THE AUTHORS TRYNA SLIP SOME VERY SUBTLE UNCONFIRMED LGBT STUFF IN cuz to my knowledge there’s no confirmed lgbt characters/relationships in this series... maybe they had problems with the publisher idk? so they had to keep it on the downlow?

barlow criticizing the greencloaks for essentially utilizing child soldiers is so, so real of him. the biggest problem i have with the greencloaks is exactly that.

“when will you people learn to leave kids alone? who first decided to dress them up and equip them like adults? who keeps the tradition alive?” BARLOW IS SPITTING STRAIGHT FACTS!

“don’t engage him” NO LET’S TALK ABOUT IT!

essix has a title too? ‘deepseer’ is mad cool.

“the greencloaks have always been too willing to prey on the young. we get talked into committing to something before we’ve figured out who we really are.” this hits home. i agree so much.

chapter 14 — ravens

damn they’ve spent weeks traveling? wtf are abeke and shane doing right at this very moment? and for all this time? they still on their way? they been on a ship this whole time? legend has it they still sailin 😭

chapter 15 — arax

“look, my terrible childhood is all i’ve got! don’t you dare try to top it.” iconic quote. that one’s going in the books.

i love conor and rollan’s relationship. they have some great moments, beginning all the way back in the first book.

headcanon: some places in erdas commonly get very large hail. unnaturally so, by earth standards. ooh ooh! or maybe arax’s presence enlarges it!

woah is this jhi’s first time demonstrating her healing powers? it’s such an everyday occurrence in the series that it’s strange to see the characters marveling at it.

i really wish the great beasts were bigger lol. when i first read this series, my kid brain glossed over the “twice as big as a horse” description in favour of a more colossal, balerion the dread mental image. i still stand by that.

i wonder, do the great beasts move their mouths when they speak? i imagine they don’t.

arax might be one of the coolest great beasts imo.

chapter 16 — arrivals

abeke and shane are here!

what exactly is sylva’s power that she’s just able to “find” the talisman like that? and how does a bat aid with that?

why are briggan and uraza growling at each other? do they not fully remember each other yet? i find that unlikely. are they communicating? maybe briggan is angry that uraza is with the conquerors. and uraza’s like... i’m doing it for Her.

meilin’s first fight! that’s gotta be monumental for her.

jhi’s ability to subdue/inspire devotion in other animals is really cool, shown several times but never talked about.

it’s really interesting how meilin is not one of those “honourable” fighters. from her outward demeanour, you might think she would be. but her seizing every opportunity is a testament to her intelligence LOL

meilin vs shane faceoff... we need more of these. i would love to see them duel again in a later arc, when meilin’s far more skilled than she is here. i think they’d be pretty evenly matched. well... before shane becomes crocodile superman.

chapter 17 — granite ram

“shane fought a zhongese girl who was putting up surprising resistance considering how young and small she looked.” meilin is literally your age, girl! and we get that you’re tall, but damn! maybe meilin has a baby face and is like 5′0. that’d be hilarious.

damnn so abeke would have just shot meilin if essix hadn’t interfered?

...abeke could tell all of that from one growl? she must really be a cat person.

her casually considering killing tarik is astonishing in hindsight.

ahh glimmers of rain dancer lore. sad that it was never actually relevant.

anddd abeke obtains the granite ram! i love the affinity and association she has with this talisman.

barlow’s last act was to save the life of this girl who was quite literally wearing the greencloaks’ objective. he just lost his spirit animal and he uses the last bit of strength jools gives him to save this enemy girl. wow. it really fits with barlow’s outlook that kids are too young to be fighting wars and dying in them. a child soldier is a child soldier; he’d still save the life of one fighting against him.

so abeke is the honourable fighter.

i always assumed shane was unconscious when zerif carried him away from the fight, but it just occurred to me that there’s nothing to suggest he was. i guess it’s the fact that he exchanged no words or even looks with abeke as they separated that made me think he was out cold lol. it’s strange how abeke doesn’t even think about what leaving shane means. would’ve been nice if they’d done something there. maybe shane just stares at her over zerif’s shoulder as he’s carried away, unbelieving and anguished. you could read it as his true feelings or a manipulation tactic bc god damn is he ever good at those.

abeke doesn’t seem to know the names of all of her conqueror comrades. huh. i personally think it would’ve worked in their favour to flesh them out as abeke’s friends and real people.

FIRST INSTANCE OF ABEKE TRYING TO SHOOT ZERIF OMG. they really should have let her be the one to end him lol

i would love to hear a folk song about barlow throwing arax off the cliff, like monte promised. or maybe see abeke tell the story of it to some eager kids. i imagine barlow’s death would impact abeke the most and she would always hold his memory close to her heart. like, on top of everything else, his sacrifice was what spurred her to leave the conquerors and join the greencloaks. that’s monumental.

i don’t think barlow or monte should have re-allied themselves with the greencloaks, tho. like... why would they?

oh also we should have seen uraza’s reaction to abeke joining the greencloaks. we’re missing shane and uraza’s reactions here.

finally a conor chapter!

waittt... i may have discovered a plot hole. barlow is laid to rest wrapped in tarik’s cloak. but ??? tarik’s cloak passes to rollan in rise and fall. it’s mentioned how old and worn it is, so it can’t have been a cloak that tarik got to replace the one that barlow was buried in. so... hmm.

conor treating briggan like his superior is kind of great.

this is basically an epilogue and i wish they’d called it that. the first chapters too -- they read like prologues.

gerathon’s prison is just... a big lump of earth? huh?? i remembered it being more sinister than that. like some sort of huge, underground cage, half-flooded. like in a sewer.

1. Name one character you headcanon as arospec because of textual reasons

SONIC T. HEDGEHOG AND AMY ROSE!!!

not to mention, the dude straight up gets uncomfortable with amy's advances and actively runs away from her 😭 like, i've seen some people say it's because he's shy, but no <3 that's my romance repulsed KING. plus, it would be so easy to fall into the flirty archetype with him, but isn't it better to see him not interested in that stuff. he'll tease and banter to ruffle people's feathers, sure, but actually flirt? that feels wrong....

sonic is so aroace to me. you have to understand his level of swag. there was a post detailing how Sonic REALLY values his freedom, meaning he probably wouldn't enjoy a romantic relationship. the idea of having to compromise elements of himself and settling down does not gel well with him.

NOW WITH AMY, this might come as a surprise considering her canon moments, but i promise i have an argument. see, amy, to me, seems like a girl who has abandonment issues, and she's a mobian living in a human dominated city. a lot of herself has been changed to adhere to the human ideal. eg: her classic quills being one resembling a normal hedgehog vs. her modern quills being downturned. potentially to avoid accidentally hurting anyone, and that's most similar to human girl hairstyles.

we all know how society adores heteronormativity, right? it's quite possible she's taken in those ideals and assumes that she's gotta do the same thing. then, i bring up the abandonment issues because sonic is her first friend. sonic met amy before tails, knuckles, etc. i am one to believe that she does not want to lose him, and the best way to do that is through promises of marriage and always being together and more.

so, even though she has no romantic interest, she convinces herself that she needs a boyfriend/husband so that she may never be alone. and what perfect person to project those ideals than someone untouchable like sonic the hedgehog? a hero who's completely uninterested in romance is someone safe enough for amy to perform what she thinks she's supposed to do. and, in reality, amy fell in love with his heroism and love for adventure because she wishes she could do the same thing.

^ can you guys tell i'm normal about this silly franchise >_●

ASTÉRIX!!!! 💥💥💥 this came to me in a vision, trust me. and, also, the fact that the guy actively avoids anything romantic and calls people crazy when they implied he had a secret lover. never forget how he tells people that he's too young for marriage or not ready to handle the responsibilities despite everyone thinking it's time he settles down or whatever. aroallo astérix, you are so important to me!!

i definitely prefer platonic, familial, and queerplatonic over romantic and sexual :3 not to say i don't enjoy the other two, but the others are super refreshing to see, yk? whilst those two can be done in the same way over and over again. not to mention i am pretty romance + sex repulsed, so like >_< there's only a few characters that don't adhere to that tho

She thinks about how strange and overwhelming it is that she and her family are tied to so many lives out in the galaxy, and yet they are so distant to all of them.

She always wanted to stargaze with Vexx, but now she hopes to go stargazing with June in the future.

🔧 WRENCH - are they good at fixing relationships? or do they tend to avoid doing so?

Eh, it depends. She’s able to mend her relationship with Damon because he not only apologized for the whole “hey let’s hand her over to the guy who murdered her family for money”, but him fixing and returned her music box showed her that he’s starting to see her as family, and that he’s a good person deep down. With June, she can forgive him because she knew that he had pretty good reasons to be upset and conflicted about the reveal of her being a Peg’asi, and he did apologize for the things he said to her.

Meanwhile, she’s still uncertain about her relationship with Vexx, since he not only betrayed her family, but also just revealed that he murdered her beloved sister. I feel like it will take some time before she’s ready to forgive him, but she doesn’t want to push him away.

In the end, Saga very much wants everyone to get along and be able to push pass any past issues they’ve had, but she also wants the person in question to put in the effort to prove that they want to make things right between them as well.

🖍️ CRAYON - what advice would you give to them?

“Please stop scolding at people who can beat you up.”

Most likely to get ID’d when they’re 30.

I got her name from the character Saga from Dreamfall Chapters.

In-story, her mother named her that because apparently her actual birth was a nightmare, with just so many things going wrong. xD

🎀 RIBBON - how would they fit into worlds / aus? what aus would you like to try out? what fictional world would they fit / not fit into?

I’ve honestly never given AUs for Saga much thought; I’ve kind of just keeping her in the canon world.

I think she would have fun in the world of GreedFall though, especially with the Nauts. She’s already got that sea-theme going for her, and she always wanted to sail the seas when she was little.

👑 CROWN - what does your oc want to be remembered as? why?

I think just being remembered with love would make her happy. She always felt like everyone in her family forgot she existed, and they would never have noticed if she went missing one day. It doesn’t really matter if they remembered her for her fine singing, or her sweet nature, good-heart, or whatever – as long as people remembered her with a smile, she’d be content.

🔪 KNIFE - how do they react to injury / misfortune befalling their loved ones (significant other, family, friends)? do they put themselves at blame?

Regardless of her feeling about her father and her siblings, of course she didn’t want them to die. Not so much because they were her family, but more because she believes killing is morally abhorrent. She didn’t really cry so much for her father, but she definitely cried for Nerissa and her mother, the only people in her family she cared for – especially since this wouldn’t have happened if she hadn’t revealed the secret passages to Vexx. Sure, there’s no way she could have known Vexx was a traitor, but she still blames herself for their deaths.

With the A6 crew, she would absolutely blame herself if some misfortune befell on them or got injured. Despite not being with them for long, they’re doing everything they can to help and protect her, and thus she wants to protect them. But she’s feels so weak, scared, and useless all the time, so whatever happens to them is on her head.

✂️ SCISSORS - what is the "last straw" for them to cut someone out of their life? how easily do they let go of people?

Saga is very lonely, and tends to be very clingy to those she’s grown attached to. As such, it would take a lot for her to finally decide to cut someone out of her life. Honestly, I really can’t think of any “last straw” moment for Saga to do that.

🙈 SEE-NO-EVIL - whats a side of your oc that they don't want to show other people?

Probably the side of her that shows how very privileged her life was up until the coup.

🕷️ SPIDER - what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?

Her biggest fear would to have no one to turn to for help or to save her, and live alone. Not just because of how lonely her life was, but also just because she has little social skills, very few practical skills that could help, and lacks basic survival skills to help get by (like cooking, shopping, etc.).

She doesn’t like walking around tall, grassy areas because of fear of snakes or ticks, and she’s scared of food that still has the animal’s head and eyes.

🌙 MOON - what is your oc's greatest wish? how far are they willing to go for it?

Right now, her greatest wish is to keep her new family happy and safe, and she is willing to try and stab her former bodyguard and best friend to do so. xD

😭 CRYING - what makes them cry? do they cry easily?

💥 COLLISON - what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?

(I’ll just answer both questions at the same time, since they cover the same thing with Saga)

Lol, all of them. Saga is a very emotional person, and it’s very easily to tell when she’s angry or upset about something. She cries easily too, and she’s been doing a lot of that since getting her memories back.
