ok guys soo. I wanna participate in an event in March with my manuscript, and though I have this out to betas, I hadn't given them a deadline, and I definitely don't wanna impose one now, but I would like to have someone look over this entire thing before that event, so... would anyone here be willing to help me out with this? 🥹 the length of it is 129k, and I would need it read by March 10th, which is 6 weeks from now. I'd be down to help you out with whatever you'd need as well in exchange 🙏 for context, here the story's intro. if you're interested, DM me, and we'll talk deets:))

Reading that previous ask about the person being curious but also finding Homelander creepy was really cool but lowkey as a big homelander fan he is mad creepy. But that’s apart of the appeal😭 there’s just something about him that seems off but its like so attractive!
I don’t know if you’re familiar with the uncanny by Freud but it’s basically something about Homelander is bordering on uncanny valley. But also he seems to be bordering in the territory of the abject by Kristeva because with the abject it’s a category that’s like body horror and gore and mothers (this is grossly oversimplified). But homelander tends to be a gorey character that also has a weird connection to mothers that easily walk into uncomfortable territory. But a part of Freud’s essay about the Uncanny and Kristeva’s essay about the abject is basically being like “why do people like these things in these categories”
Sorry I totally started rambling at the end and forgot my point😭 anyway as a homelander fan girl I can totally understand how he could be perceived as creepy or off putting to other people
love ur content btw queen
you bring up some really interesting points!!! I think you're absolutely right about the uncanny here. I see so many people talk about how Homelander (or even Antony Starr himself) triggers their fight or flight response. I've also seen people saying that he looks like he's wearing a mask of his own face or he's some kind of animated mannequin. which, to be fair, there was a season where his makeup was weird and shiny, and he seemed to have some eyeliner/mascara going on.
while I have mentioned before that I wouldn't want to meet AS because I find him a little unnerving, I obviously don't have this very visceral response to Homelander. however there IS a horror element at play that is extremely appealing to me. I LIKE how unsettling and alien he can be. i like horror in general! there is just something about Starr's acting that pulls it off beautifully. for some people, that seems to be something of a nightmare.
I honestly think this is why Homelander fans are generally so chill. it really is a lot like loving horror as a genre. you know it's not going to be everyone's thing, and that's okay, but it IS our thing, and we're loving it.
anyways, tysm darling!! 🖤

So i did it! I present you... my kny-sona~
Description and design sketches under the cut.
(I'm still figuring out most details of her story, so this might change, but I'm good with what I've got so far)
Her signature element/pattern is the peony, which i read as having a meaning of bravery and honour and being considered a protective force, while also being associated with feminity. The haori was tailored by her older sister (either for her or belonged to her sister). The haori doesn't have layers, it's just dyed and embroidered to mimic the flowers petals, and has a golden embroidery of the stamens in the back. Her interest in fashion and elegance derives from her sister's influence too, and it reflects in her wearing the uniform with a knee-length skirt and high heels boots. She also has a peony jewelry brooch that she got herself.
Conversely, she is not a Flower Breathing user (she's got awful eyesight). While I prefer to do things orderly and try to plan and anticipate, I have a sort of explosive personality (to the point of relating to Haganezuka and Sanemi), and my fighting is fueled by my emotions, so I think Wind Breathing or a style derived from it is better fitting. Plus the green of the sheath looks like the stem of the flower, heh.
The handguard resembles the wings of a dragonfly, said to symbolize strength, courage, and victory. I guess it's just a standard blade.
Tumblr media
It's refreshing to have a tan-skinned female character. She's got pitch black hair with some gray hairs (that are completely white, although not evident in drawings).
The eye shape is similar to Uzui's, and she's got eyeliner. If it existed. The iris is like Amane's, but yellow/amber.
She is a city girl from a mildly wealthy family. I still haven't pondered too much on her backstory, but her sister is the most important figure. They probably became demon slayers together, but her sister ultimately died and that's what drove her to work hard to become a Pillar.
She doesn't really look like it, but she has a good heart with a great sense of justice; she gives everyone a chance to prove themselves, but the moment they betray her trust, she doesn't hesitate to react accordingly--if it's a person, she'll stop being kind to them, and if it's a demon, she'll cut off their head. (She's much more cautious with demons, but in a situation like Tanjiro's trial, she'll listen before speaking her judgement even if she leans more towards not trusting any demon).
She sticks to her morals and principles unwaveringly.
She can be very hurtful with her words, similar to the way Kanao spoke to Douma.
She's got a Tsuguko who doesn't practice the same Breathing style, and she has another Pillar friend. Both have calm personalities that balance hers, and they're both the reason she has softened up a little.
I'm also working on the main plot of her story, which I'll talk about once I've introduced the other characters, hopefully!

probably one of my favourite books is a publication modestly titled Names of Persons, and the title itself is part of why I love it, because it's so general yet at the same time surprisingly to the point, though the subtitle National Usages for Entry in Catalogues is more specific regarding what it's actually about
And it's about how names in different countries and languages follow different rules when it comes to name components. For example, how Ursula von der Leyen falls under L [Leyen, Ursula von der], as does Jean de La Fontaine [La Fontaine, Jean de] (the article is not necessarily always capitalized and that doesn't make a difference), but Dick Van Dyke falls under V, not D [Van Dyke, Dick]
So far I've mostly been using it for dealing with European names, where in most countries, prepositions and articles are not counted, with the notable exception of Italy, while in France only the article counts (so it would be [da Vinci, Leonardo] in Italy, but [Vinci, Leonardo de] in France). Belgium is an exception like Italy, but in practice usage varies: in the French part, French names may be treated according to French usage and others according to the national standard; in Flanders, Flemish names may be treated according to the Dutch practice and others according to the national standard; or both are treated as they would be in France or the Netherlands. In some Germanic-speaking countries only the prepositions and articles of Germanic origin are discounted (in Sweden it's [Linné, Carl von], but [De Geer, Carl]; though funnily enough, in the Netherlands, de is among the discounted prepositions). Danish and Norwegian names with two surnames are listed under the second surname (e. g. [Rasmussen, Jens Elmegård]). Somewhat similarly, Portuguese surnames are listed under the last component of the surname (e. g. [Mendonça, Paulo António de Carvalho e]). Contraction (e. g. [du Gast, Camille]), univerbation (e. g. [Debussy, Achille Claude]) or hyphenation (e. g. [Coster-Waldau, Nikolaj William]) may override any of these principles though (just consider how much fun that is when compound surnames are sometimes written with a hyphen and sometimes without :)) ), and of course, almost all the principles I just mentioned have exceptions ... But I always learn something new when I open it and it's a beautifully organized mess

okay but this is cool as hell (entire article under cut)
Cesar Cisneros is working part-time, making just enough money to cover his rent in Eatontown. Every little bit of savings helps, so when he visits his pharmacist for insulin and blood-pressure medication, the price is right.
It costs him nothing.
“This is great,” Cisneros said last week.
Cisneros is one of nearly 250 customers being served by the Ritesh Shah Charitable Pharmacy in Red Bank as the venture marks its first anniversary this week. In year one, as founder Shah reported to advisory board members in late March, the pharmacy filled 2,300 prescriptions encompassing 238 different medications at a total value of approximately $180,000. More than half of that was insulin ($95,000 worth) plus diabetes-related medication (another $20,000 worth). All medications were distributed at no cost to patients who qualify.
“I was hoping that we would make a difference,” Shah said. “There is so much demand right now. This has been eye-opening for me. New Jersey needs more of this.”
The pharmacy also holds immunization clinics and health-education classes.
“It’s been truly incredible, the amount of people that pharmacy has been able to reach in the community,” said advisory board member Joseph Howe, who is superintendent of schools in Freehold. “It’s really become a public health center.”
Shah, a 49-year-old Freehold Township resident, owns a handful of pharmacies throughout Monmouth County. His wife, Asha Shah, is the pharmacist in charge at the charitable branch, which is located at 224 Shrewsbury Ave. in Red Bank.
Because this is family run and because the Shahs own the building and leveraged their connections in the field to find the best deals for the medicines they distribute, overhead is low. They are, however, looking to hire a part-time pharmacist to keep up with the demand.
“I have almost 120 medications that I dispense every month to regular patients – diabetes medicine, heart medicine, blood-pressure medicine,” Ritesh Shah said. “I knew what we were getting into, but it’s much needed.”
Anyone whose income is within three times the federal poverty level is eligible for service at the pharmacy. Customers can get certified for service through federally qualified health clinics, and if they don’t know how to do that, the Shahs will walk them through the paperwork.
The biggest takeaway from year one?
“There really is a need to expand,” Howe said.
To that end, there is a fundraising gala scheduled for June 30 at 618 Restaurant in Freehold Township.
Ritesh Shah said he believes this model is sustainable. He’s fielded inquiries from others interested in opening branches elsewhere in the state.
“Whatever direction God gives me,” he said, “I want to do it.”
Ritesh Shah Charitable Pharmacy at 224 Shrewsbury Ave. in Red Bank is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 10-3. For more information visit visit rscharitypharmacy.org.

I recalled a while back you mentioning the whole TK/Judd of it all and it made me go seek out if there is any fic of them to fall down the rabbit hole in. Sadly there is really not a lot. I guess people think it's as controversial as Rofa 😂. The ones that are there are good, but they are all from like 1-2 years ago. I guess I can see that, since there really hasn't been much interaction between TK and Judd, which makes me really sad. Anyway, I just wanted to message you about it and see if you've already read what's out there, and if you have any head canons regarding them.
There really isn't much! I have absolutely read every single one that exists haha but it's a very small number. I don't think it's necessarily controversial, I think it just isn't something a lot of people have a great desire to read or write. Which I get, I mean Tarlos is so disgustingly wonderful, it's not like they NEED the addition of anyone else. But it's fun in a fanfic sort of way imo! I always like fics that are threesomes where like the couple is established and madly in love, and a third person comes in just for a night or just on a now-and-then kind of basis. I have a half-formed headcanon about like Judd being better suited to delivering the kind of tough love that TK needs sometimes, and Carlos falls a little bit short in that department because he loves TK so much. Maybe some situation where TK is hurting and he isn't letting Carlos help him, he's doing his shutting down, pretending to be fine thing. And Carlos is starting to get really freaked out, and confides about it to Judd, and Judd could come in and be like "Listen up kid, this is what's gonna happen. You're gonna let your man take care of you" etc and then they could love on him together.

Disclaimer: I'm not Thai and this contains a lot of conjectures that needs to be fact checked by someone who is either Thai/ knows enough about Thai folk culture to comment. So the tits out nagini played by Babe joke (that I'm really enjoying this isn't to knock us having a laugh down) really made me think about how demonizing female tits is a relatively post christian missionary disseminating puritanism as a extra religious extra cultural inherent to human civilization idea. So then, are the naginis meant to have their tits out and is using babe to portray the authentic nagini style of dress just a clever way of circumventing modern laws about censorship? Bottom line is - I don't know and I have no way of knowing on account of having zero access to Thai people but I do have some evidence:
Babe is wearing a 'female' style of dress
Tumblr media
I don't think I really needed to start here because the deliberate use of female pronouns makes it fairly clear that Babe is supposed to be a woman here but there's also the chain, the scarf, the long hair, gaudier accessories etc 2. Babe and Freen are supposed to be the same person and look very very similar, more similar than they do in real life but maybe even identical for narrative purposes
Tumblr media
The show has pushed the audience towards suspension of disbelief when it comes to how similar Freen and Babe look. The portrait of Freen as the Nagini looks like Freen and NOT Babe and yet all the characters in the show are convinced it looks like Tharn (played by Babe). This told me that no matter what I think for the show to make sense to me Babe and Freen look like they could be twins for all that reality matters. They have the same name and modern day Wansarut, played by Babe, shows up as a reflection of the past Wansarut, played by Freen, BEFORE the transformation at the end of ep 5
Tumblr media
In fact, the transformation is never shown and modern!Wansarut appears fully formed in front of Phaya as though once Phaya has allowed himself to open his eyes, he can see the truth - that they're the same. Their gender is never shown to 'transform' on screen and I think what this show is pushing for is that gender is just NOT an inherent part of their identity. IMO, that's taking it a step further than simply saying Wansarut was a girl in past life and Wansarut is a boy in this life. It's like saying Wansarut is Wansarut, whether Wansarut is a a boy or girl is just as relevant as whether Wansarut is wearing modern day clothing or traditional clothing. 3. The women have their tits out too????
Tumblr media
look at freen's hand, that's not a shirt, that's her skin and it's the same color as Babe's clothing is when Babe plays Wansarut
Tumblr media
same with Songjet she doesn't have the scarf or chains and her shirt is textured to the scales of a serpent. I think this is a tits out look too.
All their tits on principle appear to be out 4. Are tits out nagini the tradition? This is the part I have no idea. It's not like googling a hundred nagini statues from thailand will tell me when they were made easily or accurately. All I can say is that all the anthropomorphized nagini statues that were wearing clothes were very obviously wearing clothes and not scale textured clothing. There's also these tits proudly out variations

Ugly crying & the marauders generation - a pseudo-scientific approach (my marauders crying PhD abstract)
Abstract
In recent days, there have been a variety of claims as to who the prettiest and ugliest crier in the marauders generation could be. This paper aims to address the recent surge in opinions on the matter, and categorize different approaches as well as add a new approach to the scientific examination of ugliness/prettiness when it comes to crying. I hope to provide readers with an overview of the current state of research and encourage all marauders scholars to add their own and I intend to make a contribution to the discourse by committing to the bit and writing a pseudo-academic paper about it instead of actually working on my thesis.
Introduction
In the following paper, the discourse about 5 marauders era characters will be examined in regards to their various levels of perceived ugliness whilst crying. Scholars who may ask why Peter [Pettigrew] is not included in this analysis are advised to refer to acclaimed marauders ugly crying scholar @lynxindisguise's (2023) original poll on the popular blogging website "tumblr.com" which did not include Peter, but rather two non-marauders characters named Lily and Regulus. This paper will follow that approach, since Peter is the nastiest skank bitch I have ever met, I do not trust him and he is a fugly slut. The characters included in this approach are as follows: James Potter, Lily Evans, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Regulus Black.
Following the scientific criteria for ugly crying, as stated by lynxindisguise et. al (2023), the question of the ugliest crier can be answered by observing the crying person and assessing their ugly-levels on the following parameters: (1) unbecoming facial expressions, (2) facial swelling/blotching, (3) unsettling noises, (4) snot factor, (5) tear volume, (6) general loss of dignity, (7) glistening eyes/lashes, (8) Victorian heroine factor, (9) elegant tear-wiping, (10) post-cry glow (ibid).
Criteria (1)-(6) can be categorized as the ugly crying parameters whereas (7)-(10) are pretty crying parameters, creating a false binary between ugly and pretty crying, which may be problematised and addressed in another the paper. In contrast to lynxindisguise’s original 10 criteria to measure the aesthetics of crying, this paper proposes to add (11) explosiveness of cry as another ugly crying parameter, in order to get a more clear assessment of where on the ugly-pretty crying scale a character falls.
The ugly crying parameters
(1) Unbecoming facial expressions
James Potter is mentioned in this category by several marauders scholars: @jaylienpotter talks about his red face and ugly sobbing, @artbyace mentions his “scrunched up cry face” and @sectoren claimes “james (…) is that one handsome guy that when the waterworks get going becomes like. Cartoonishly ugly”, raising the question of upkeeping toxic masculinity in order to avoid having to witness more of James Potter’s crying “mug”.
Though James Potter features heavily in this category, another character who is also mentioned just as often is Remus Lupin: @kaaaaaaarf, @appreciatedmoron and @http-starboy all emphasise that Remus Lupin is the one with a red and blotchy face.
(2) facial swelling/blotching
While there is a definitive overlap between the categories of facial swelling/blotching, unbecoming facial expressions and snot factor, Sirius’ and Regulus’ victorian heroine complexions, which give them an advantage in the homonymous category, may be to their disadvantage in the “blotching” category. This will require further research by other scholars.
(3) unsettling noises
James Potter is mentioned in this category by Jaylienpotter (2023), claiming he not only hiccups when crying but also that “his cries are one of the most heartbreaking things you’ll ever hear” and similarly, artbyace states that “James loves and feels so loudly”, whereas “Sirius is silent”, both sentiments are reminiscent of znelda’s (2023) statements that James “was allowed to feel his emotions freely in a loving household” and “Sirius (…) [is] used to hide [his] feelings and [has] become stoic”.
With several other scholars, among them also @jamesunderwater (2023) raising the point that James may be the ugliest crier due to him being “the only one well adjusted enough to have access to his feelings” this raises the question of possibly introducing another category, maybe of emotional awareness/stability to be able to measure this parameter more efficiently, though emotional vulnerability may also just be a part of the unsettling noises parameter, suggesting that there is a correlation between noisiness and the existing environment being welcoming to and accepting of various expressions of emotions.
(4) snot factor
The most popular winner in the snot factor category seems to be Remus Lupin, with several scholars agreeing that his sobs are the dampest and snottiest out of all the candidates. kaaaaaaarf (2023) writes “he turnes all red and blochty and snot drips out of his nose (…) he cant (sic) not cry with his mouth open as well so there is a lot of spit”, and appreciatedmoron (2023) agrees with kaaaaaaarf on this.
It only seems right to me to include spit in the snot category as well, seeing as they’re both crying-related bodily fluids that add to the ugly-cry factor. http-starboy (2023) also mentions snot in regards to Remus Lupin, which compared to both their comments in (1) opens up the question of how unbecoming facial expressions, more particularly redness of the face and snot factor may be related, as several authors seem to write about both specifically in relation to each other. Whether this is just pure coincidence or not would need further research, for which we currently do not have enough funding. This is only one of the many research gaps in the relatively new field of marauder’s ugly crying studies, which cannot fully be addressed in this paper.
James Potter is also mentioned in the snot category, namely by the marauders scholar artbyace (2023).
(5) tear volume
Artbyace (2023) claims James Potter is “full on bawling” which can only be assumed to refer to tear volume, but the most convincing argument for tear volume comes from the acclaimed marauders scholar @fruityindividual (2023), stating that “tsunami warning tones go off in sirius’ brain anytime remus is close 2 (sic) tears” which already indicates high levels of tear volumes. The author then goes on to specify the volume by claiming that “indeed the ocean wishes rj lupin would jump in and help contribute 2 (sic) rising sea levels”, further emphasizing the volume of Remus's tears.
(6) general loss of dignity
@pastaplatypus (2023) writes about James Potter not being able to do a Melodramatic Bollywood Cry, which is perceived as inherently racist by the crier.
I would like to argue that Sirius Black also deserves to be mentioned in this category. While as of today, with less than 1 hour left to vote, 15.5% of voters agree that Sirius is the ugliest crier, the more outspoken voices all argue for different ugly criers. Due to their upbringing, I am tempted to name both Black brothers in the “loss of dignity” category and look forward to reading future contributions to this discussion.
The pretty crying parameters
(7) glistening eyes/lashes
Undoubtedly Sirius Black deserves to be mentioned in this category. I believe his dark lashes and glimmering eyes are part of what makes him the prettiest crier. Whereas Remus’s eyes also sometimes glisten or appear red, and it is usually attributed to be caused by drug consumption, which more often than not is a wrong assumption, but he happily goes along with the pretense of being a weed-smoking bad boy in order to hide his ugly crying damp tendencies.
(8) Victorian heroine factor
It almost seems superfluous to even mention Sirius (and, to a lesser degree, Regulus) Black in this category. This category was made for Sirius, as is apparent when reading lynxindisguises (2023) description of the victorian heroine factor, in response to a question by the scholar @plecotusauritus:
“the Victorian Heroine Factor is a deeply scientific assessment of the Vibes. Is this person giving tragically beautiful, windswept Victorian Heroine, sobbing gently into their hands while sprawled across a boulder or a well or a fountain of some sort? When they look up at you, do their tear-plumped lips part elegantly as a single tear slides down their cheek?”
(9) elegant tear-wiping
There hasn't been a lot of research in this area, but I would like to propose handkerchiefs with embroidered initials and family crests as another potential factor in favor of the Black brothers scoring high marks in this category as well as the Victorian heroine factor.
(10) post-cry glow
Artbyace (2023) claims “lily is always beautiful (…) even when crying”, which is echoed by znelda’s (2023) earlier claim that “Lily (…) [is] a woman and no woman is ugly when crying.”
Sirius is the other popular choice by marauders scholars for this category, with @in-flvx (2023) stating that he “handsomely handsomes while dying after 12 years of torture hell and another year in shackles”, which would mean that “a few tears would[n’t] stop him from being the hottest person in the room at all times” (ibid).
Additional parameters
I am suggesting to introduce an additional metric in order to further specify and better assess the ugly-crying levels:
(11) explosiveness of cry
@felixantares (2023) introduces the idea that Remus “is the type that very few people have been seen cry because he ignores every difficult emotion hes (sic) ever had (…) and it all explodes at once and its horrible to watch when he breaks down”, a sentiment shared by several of the other authors mentioned above in various other categories.
Further opinions & conclusions
The most popular consensus seems to be that Sirius cannot be the ugliest crier, sometimes also in direct comparison to his brother: @spindrifters (2023) answers the question of the ugliest crier with “obviously it’s regulus”, elaborating that “at least [it’s] definitely not sirius bc (sic) reg is canonically less handsome in all ways” which brings up the question if regular beauty plays into ugly crying. This is contrasted by lynxindisguises argument, that Sirius may be an ugly crier because he’s so gorgeous, and his ugly crying subverts the expectations of beauty:
“the most beautiful man alive looks hideous while crying, and his deeply awkward and perpetually damp bf (sic) is literally in his element while crying – dampness becomes him, you might say.”
This statement raises yet another question – does regular crying make the crier more or less ugly? Can an ugly crier become a pretty crier by practice or are we all born either ugly or pretty criers, condemned to this fate for life?
While this paper has given an overview of the current state of research to ugly crying/pretty crying, it has also raised many more questions. Other topics which may be addressed in future papers also include the philosophical question whether ugly crying is in the eye of the beholder and if it is possible to ugly cry without being perceived, and if it is possible to ugly cry if the person perceiving you doesn’t find it ugly. Since the research field of ugly crying is a relatively new one, we can only hope to read many more opinions on these and other topics in the future, and I look forward to reading different scholar’s approaches to these highly relevant topics.
