Taylor Swift Eras themed Legacy Challenge

i wanted to put together two of my favorite things: the sims and Taylor Swift. so i came up with this 10 generation legacy challenge in which each generation is inspired by a different album. I created this challenge for the sims 2 ultimate collection since that is the game i normally play, but i am sure it can be adapted for sims 3 or sims 4. i also implemented the traits project for ts2 but you can easily do the challenge without it using different personality points. i set up this challenge so that each generation alternates genders but you can switch that up. i also chose first names for each generation based on references of the album. also some of the writing is very cheesy and has a lot of references because why not go crazy. this is my first legacy challenge so if you have any critiques let me know. the rules are not strict and cheats can be used as its a story-based challenge.

Debut- Gen 1: Mary

Hongjoong: Rollercoaster by Jonas brothers

The upbeatness of the song just gives me the same vibe… also the message of the song being reminiscing on a band's successes, really resonates with Hongjoong. As the leader I know in the future he will tell his kids and grandkids about how successful and loved Ateez was as a group. Hongjoong will always be there for the band members even during rough times, so I think this song really relates to him.

Seonghwa: August by Taylor swift

The song is about a new start in life, and I can’t help but think he would often think about the fresh start he was given when he became an Idol. You can really tell how much he loves being able to sing for the world. The instrumentals are so soft but powerful which is exactly how I see Seonghwa.

Yunho: Sweet Creature by Harry styles

I chose this song for Yunho, not because of the story behind it but because of how the song is presented to me. The song is beautifully sad, and Yunho is so beautiful that it makes me sad lmaoo. I would also really like to see Yunho do a song in this style or even a cover for this song. The lyrics are very powerful to the heart and Yunho makes me feel the same way…

Yeosang: Where the shadow ends by BANNERS, Young bombs

This song gives the message of hope. Yeosng is truly a great representation of this song to me because of how hard he has worked to further his career and to make fans happy(as well as everyone in the group). Yeosang is truly the light in the darkness. The instrumentals are soft as well and give that angelic feeling to listeners(me), and I get the same vibe from Yeosang.

San: Diamonds by Rihanna

San was truly born to be onstage, his stage presence is unlike anyone I have seen in the fourth generation. He was truly meant to shine and give that inspiration to future generations. His smile shines so bright as well and I think people need to recognize him as one of the best Idols in the game. Again…this man was made to be a performer and artist. He is the moment.

Mingi: Try by P!nk

This man is so charismatic and determined to do amazing things in his career (he does.) This song is about taking risks and not giving up, and he truly does. He always manages to get past the hurdles in his life that come in his path. I am really proud of how well Mingi prioritizes himself and his mental/physical health and never gives up on his dream. So this song 100% gives me the same vibe as Mingi.

Wooyoung: Good Time by Owl city, Carly Rae Jepsen

Wooyoung always makes the best out of difficult decisions. He is one of the most positive members I have seen, he is so smiley and his laugh is so funny as well. He makes everyone around him happy as well, truly a happy virus. I have a friend that bias’ him and literally anytime she sees him she gets so happy because of the vibe and energy he radiates.

Jongho: Yellow by Coldplay

I chose this song for Jongho because it is a song about love and devotion, but in the way I think his love and devotion is for the members and fans. He is the youngest of the group, but I see him as someone members can really rely on and talk to when they need to get something off their chest. Yellow can be seen as cowardly or afraid but in Jonghos case I see it as Happiness and Reliable. Jongho is the yellow of his group… for his members and fans.

Hey, look - its close to the new year, its past midnight as I'm writing this, and I'm feeling sentimental. I know I could be putting more delicacy into my choices for these last days of the year, but please allow me to be be a bit vulnerable today.

I started making these posts seven months ago. A month later, I made the full commitment into making it a full-on BLOG-blog. That is, a blog to truly let me spill my heart over, beyond just writing one or five sentences per rip, to ensure none of my feelings get left on the drawing board. It was never something I did to catch a wave of fame, or to show off on a resume: top to bottom, this blog began as a distraction from work, and has turned into a full-scale love letter for a project that has helped shape me into the person I am today. Now, with *this* project, I've found motivation and confidence: I've had the opportunity to reignite my passion for writing, satiating my lust for analysis and discussion, and most crucially providing a thank-you to a group of creators that have always felt woefully underappreciated.

What I never really expected, was to have those same wishes returned back to me.

From the ask box, to the messages, to the Rippers' Commentary reblogs, to the discussions held in the SiIvaCord and on Discord DMs themselves, its those heartfelt words, that gratitude and joy, that keeps me driven to continue this blog until I'm all wrung dry. I've long considered myself terrible at maintaining connections, yet with each message I receive it feels as if I've made a new friend, their words of support and love never leaving my mind no matter how much time passes. It still feels like I'm somewhat of a shut-in, yet I've had the ability to talk to so many more incredible people in the back half of this year alone than I have for so much of my life before.

So, with all that sappy shit said - The Paragoomba and the Wiggler goes out to one of those people. It was only a few weeks ago this month that I covered vvsvlogs' prior work on Wham! Into Dreams, and just how much her singing truly resonated with me. As soon as that post was done, I just...felt a need to know, if she'd done any more singing work for the channel, and she was kind enough to point out her contribution to RIP² that I'd somehow completely missed. A rearrangement of an immensely simple but effective Season 1 rip, The Paragooma and the Wiggler is still a mashup of a Super Mario Bros. 3 theme and an Owl City song, yet now with a far more lively, dynamic instrumental thanks to 601billionlazer's arranging, and with vocals wholly redone by vvsvlogs, as mentioned before - and, indeed, just like Wham! Into Dreams, I connected with the rip almost immediately after listening to it. There's of course also new life injected into the non-vocal half of the song through the rearrangement, new sound effects added to punctuate lyrics, an ebb and flow maintained with the instrumentation alternating between the original chiptune sound and a plucky piano. With all that said, its an incredible rip top to bottom, showing just how talented of a singer vvsvlogs is above all else - I daresay the new vocals full-on crush the originals for me.

Yet, there's a reason I wanted to put that big sentimental introduction to this post in particular. Because back when I first discovered Wham! Into Dreams years ago, I may still have been a devoted fan, but I was a wallflower althesame: barely in the SiIvaCord, barely in discussions with anyone other than the occasional YouTube comment. It's only through all of the aforementioned outcomes of running this blog, the people I've met and the messages I've received, that I finally feel truly at home with this community - that I found the courage to reach out, talk to, and send my sincerest thanks directly to these incredible creators, with at least SOMETHING to show for it. vvsvlogs is just one of a dozen or two people I've gotten to talk to through doing this blog, and it never ceases to warm my heart - both finally getting to talk to people who've indirectly pulled me out of dark times through simply doing what they love, and through knowing I've been able to make so many of them smile from the words I'm putting onto this darn page on a daily basis.

Happy new year, SiIvaGunner team. To all of you in the team reading silently without accounts to reply with, I hope you know just how much I love you.

hi hi!! i'm helena/danger (she/her) and i'm new to tumblr but i saw a bunch of people doing writeblr introductions and wanted to join in!! i'm a bit shy when it comes to reaching out but if you interact with me at all i will like. 100% respond!!! ok here goes!!

favorite genres/niches

fantasy mostly!!!

i like to think i like plot but honestly i'll like anything if the characters are good enough

HUGE mythology and folktale fan!! i have very strong opinions on how to incorporate those into a novel tho, so only ask about that if you dare!!

surprise creepy concepts and crapsaccharine worlds are like my favorite of all time. i 100% support lying about the contents of a project to keep that twist extra shocking!!

romcoms might not be my favorite but im a sucker for cute couples, especially if they are LGBTQ+

psychological horror is excellent, one of my favorites (even if i'd never dare to write it)

depictions and representations of mental health is probably the thing that's most consistent throughout my work? maybe its just the psych major talking but i find that stuff endlessly fascinating

i've lived in various places overseas for most of my life, so i enjoy stories set in unique locations absolutely DRENCHED in culture!!

current projects

i feel a bit awkward sharing these because again, i'm not a great writer, but i like reading about other writeblr's projects so i figured i'd give other people the option of seeing mine! warning for pretentious titles for very straightforward and basic concepts

WIP - flowers that mean "we'd miss you" - a short story I wrote while testing out subtext, character dynamics and prose!! the basic run-down is that a boy wakes up in the hospital and now he and his friends have to navigate a very difficult conversation. the subject matter definitely requires a content warning, and it has a few gaps i still need to fill, but overall i really like the direction it's headed!! out of all of these projects, it's probably the one i have the least issues with.

in the ataraxis of aftermath - this one is a novel i wrote for NaNoWriMo 2020! it is post-apocalyptic with elements of fantasy, slice-of-life, and romance, specifically lgbtq+ romance. it's about a girl exploring what remains of her flooded city when she suddenly finds another survivor. despite the genre, this novel is very slow-paced and calm, relying more on the character dynamics and emotional journey of the protagonist instead of traditional story beats and plotlines!! i finished the whole first draft that november (and without any real outline to guide me, so altogether it's a bit of a mess), and i plan on rewriting it after i finish the two following projects!!

WIP - the owl's wish - originally intended as a short story for just a friend and i, this project is quickly expanding into a full-on novel!! it's a haikyuu!! fanfic, but i've been told that the story is well enough removed from the show that it can work even if you don't that context. the only summary i can give without spoilers is that it's about an owl spirit with amnesia who finds a friend, and together they set off to get their wishes granted by the mysterious Lady of the Yellow Springs (but it's about more than that, i promise ;) ). it's set in ancient japan, and i referenced a few traditional fairytales when drawing up the outline, but otherwise it's a completely original folktale that can hopefully be accessible to anyone who picks it up!!

WIP - currently titled ouroboros paradox - this is a novel i am currently plotting, so honestly i'm not so sure how much i can say!! this is a fantasy novel coming from my intense passion for large creatures, horror elements, and norse mythology. as far as i know now, the story will follow two protagonists in the city of jörmungandr - one from the past and one in the present - as they try to navigate life, religion and ethics in a world where murdering living beings lengthens your lifespan. i plan on finishing my outline before this november, so i can try to hit 50K for nanowrimo this year!!

Based on an ask where you ranked the Disney Afternoon pilots, how would you rank the pilots of each of the newer set of Disney cartoons?The cutoff I'll use is starting with the batch from when Disney moved all their cartoons to Disney Channel in 2018,I'll simplify it by not including the ones after Owl House to cut down on it being a mouthful,Pilots are Star Comes to Earth,Going the Extra Milo,Woo-oo,Baymax Returns,Welcome Home(Big City Greens), Anne or Beast,Tangled Before Ever, and TOH's pilot

Tangled is taken out as I haven't watched that one. And to compensate i'll add in The Curse from Ghost and Molly McGee (Since I haven't seen Hailey's on it or hamster and gretel yet and i've only seen a bit of kiff's first episode) and for my own amusement (and because this is my answer so I can do what I like), Moon Girl Landing.

I"ll also say before this ranking that most of these are awesome first episodes that sell what the series is at that point well. Disney is really good at pilots and first episodes.

9. The Lying Witch and the Warden: Case in point this is the only one on this list that.. isn't good. It has good moments, but as i've talked to at length with many fellow owl house fans, paticuarlly @jess-the-vampire the pilot is very ...

It beats you over the head with it's theme of "BE YOURSELF. BEING WEIRD IS OKAY", when the rest of the series does a much better job of expressing it's messages way better. It also hurt Camilla's character and reputation SO BAD that her next two episodes had to go out of their way to explain WHY she sent luz to what came off as a metaphor for conversion therapy in the pilot, show it wasn't that, show she came back right after to help, and have her accept luz as is. The character as she is now is amazing but how badly the pilot botched the assigment with her still left an impact on the series and it's the only one hwere where something in the first episode had to be course corrected this badly.

8. Baymax Returns: A solid tv movie and a neat way to bring back our squishy soft boy. I've only seen bits of this series but it's pretty good which given who made it isn't suprising.

7. Welcome Home: this is a weird one as Space Chicken was the first ep aired and produced, so my first impression of the series.. isn't this episode. Still as an INTENDED first episode it's pretty good, sets up Bill, Cricket and Tilly well. I just slightly prefer space chicken as, even with Tilly being slightly off, it showcases the entire core cast.

6. The Curse: A really good opener that sets up who molly is, why she needs brighton to be her forever home, and who scratch is and why he needs a friend. I also love the scene with mollys family finding out about scratch.. and after the shock wears off all taking it in stride to his massive annoyance.

5. Moon Girl Landing: The most recent pilot here and it's up so high for a reason. This show is fantastic and the opening does a really good job fleshing both Lunella and Devil out while also having a throughly memorable villian that gives it real personal stakes. Sure we know the family rink won't be gone in the first episode, they spent the money making that setting, but the power going down in LES and so many people's livelyhoods being in danger gives realistic stakes to "Genius 13 year old and giant red dinosaur fight elctro daughter".

4. Anne or Beast?: Another banger. Ugly Ugly Hero is still a tremendous line and it gets across our core 4 incredibly well. Also we have a slug instead of betsy for some reason who I love only because I love slugs and snails. Such shrively little guys.. or big guys in this case. Where did that snail go? Whose his agent? Am I now his agent? It's remakable how fleshed out everyone is from day one in almost all of these. I mean granted as we've seen these aren't the PILOTS but even so many series still take time to get a grasp of the cast. Amphibia and what we're about to see had it day one. 3. Star Comes to Earth: While Star Vs had a weak finish i'll probably never entirely let go it had one hell of a strong start. Star Comes to Earth tells us everything we need to know about who star and marco are. Granted Marco being the "Saftey kid" never comes up again, but it served it's point: to show Marco's a bit in his shell and cautious but wants badly to not be the responsible one, and Star provides a way out of that. Also once again we have a gag that's damn perfect with "I'm a magical princess from another dimension". It's remarkable how in just 11 minutes they set up pretty much everything for season 1 and a lot of things for the series: Star's reckleness and how she has a pretty loose grasp on her magic but a great one of combat, marco's martial arts and safteyness, his awesome parents, star's disapproving mom and ludo and co. It's a snappy 11 minutes that really sets the tone for season 1. I really shoudl revisit it with a proper review.

2. Going the Extra Milo: Speaking of things that need a proper review hot damn do I love this episode. Just thinking back to it, it does what a pilot should do and I know I keep repeating myself but that's because a good pilot is setup, showing you who these characters are (even if they can sometims be slightly off) and showing off the premise. In this case it keeps it simple: Milo meets Zack, who as a new kid serves as a perfect window into the weird shit that happens to milo.... while also showing us why he can be so chipper and happy despite the worst happening to him. The "How can you live like this scene" Is really what lands this so high, showing that milo rather than see his constant misfortune as a terrible thing.. sees it as having fun lifethreanting adventures every day. He gets to have an intresting life and Zack sees that being around milo is dangeorus.. but it's also a lot of fun. And that more importantly.. milo's one heck of a guy. Melissa also gets a lot of fleshing out as we both see her faith in milo via the side bet and her hustler nature. Had this show actually got proper promotion this would've been another hit on this pilot alone. Alas we got what we got.. and at least the two seasons we got keep this level of quality up.

1. Woo-ooo!: Look ya'll know I love ducktales, so you likely saw this coming.. but even loving me some ducks woo-ooo is just .. objectively the best on here. It does everything I said a pilot shoudl do while also having some really gorgeous shots like scrooge putting his money in the bin o rthe sweeing intro of duckburg. I'll grant it has more time than most pilots but really it does a LOT of it's character exposition in the first 5 minutes: within that we get who the boys and donald are and where scrooge is now, while the rest shows us who he was and will be again, introduces webby, beakley and launchpad and even sets up the series final villian. The second half adding in Glomgold is just gravy at this point. It's honestly weirdly LESS awkward than the rest of early season 1, where it seems they struggle more to find the shows identity while this.. shows they had the core of it from the start.

I AM TRYING TO IDENTIFY A MEME MASHUP FROM 2018 (or earlier)

in 2018 someone i knew sent me a song someone they knew made. it was a 12 minute long meme mashup and it was really impressive. ive had this file on my computer for 5 years and ive listened to it so much but the problem is that i have no idea who the fuck made it or whether it's ever been posted online anywhere. i may very well be one of the only people thats ever heard this song. PLEASE try and help me identify it.

unfortunately. i am NOT going to post it here. because it is not mine and i cannot properly give credit. HOWEVER i am going to post a TRACKLIST because it is a distinctive tracklist that will help in identifying it.

Leah Isobel: I kind of want to be a hater about this. "Stranger Things star makes budget Ariel Pink pop about growing up, goes viral on TikTok" is an insufferable Mad Libs narrative pitch. The lyrics feel cryptic in a bad way, like Djo is aware that he's traveling well-trodden ground and straining to justify himself. And yet, his acting background comes through: his hammy Boris Pickett affectations lock him to the beat, keeping the song from feeling overly self-indulgent. It's still a little mushy, but that's not a crime. [5]

Nortey Dowuona: Djo has rightly seized on his captive audience in order to launch his pop rock career, but it thankfully hasn’t spiraled the way the Childish Gambino project did to the point where there are insufferable fans and detractors duking it out over its merits -- mainly because it’s too good to be dinged, but not good enough to be more than a popular actor’s passion project. Adam Thein’s limp drums, which have aged badly since 2022, can’t keep the overwhelming pace of the synth riffs or the lumpy bass left in the background of the mix. They support the toplines rather than drive the song, as many a baseline has done, but that then leaves the topline to hold everything up, which it constantly refuses to do. As for Joe Keery, he is no Childish Gambino before 2012. At least it’s short. [4]

Alfred Soto: The Stranger Things actor is too old by at least five years to have taken Twenty One Pilots seriously. [0]

Dave Moore: The verses are synth fetishism worthy of an awkward Stranger Things teen romance subplot (derogatory), followed by a pale imitation of a Sufjan Stevens chorus (complimentary). The ingredients sort of work on paper -- I am only human, which is to say a dork who was born in the '80s. But the song just sort of sits there, like it was designed to be vaguely apprehended floating through a pop-up beer garden. [5]

Taylor Alatorre: Are we just supposed to take these younger artists' word that their work is primarily inspired by genuine Nineteen-Eighties music, and not the phantasmal refractions of it that were being created between 2008 and 2015 (and beyond)? Because whatever points I take away for roteness and facelessness, I may give back for honesty. Anyway, check out Twin Shadow's new single "To the Top" if you get the chance. Sound of the summer. Katherine St. Asaph: This is by a Stranger Things actor and supposedly sounds like the '80s. What it actually sounds like is the driftier, understated parts of '90s alternative radio playlists. And as someone who owns the Carice van Houten album, I fully support TV folks making vanity albums that don't sound like what you'd think. [6]

Mark Sinker: He’s singing “tear to cry,” but I first heard it as “diddikai”, the Romani term for a traveler not fully Romani. Maybe you can make something of this – musician who fashions his artistic persona round not being the character he plays in a multi-season Netflix series! – but I’m not sure I sensibly can. The song is pretty and mannered and flimsy; he’s way not old enough to have the wisdom he thinks he has. [5]

Isabel Cole: "I wave goodbye to the end of beginning" is a great line, capturing the moment when you might not feel particularly like an adult but understand, suddenly, that until recently you were very young, and now you are something else. I do remember twenty-four! Unfortunately the actual song is a plodding, soupy nothing. [0]

Will Adams: When you've got an admittedly gorgeous arrangement of languid, synth-smeared indie-rock, the last thing you want to do is sound like a try-hard; and yet, Joe Keery's delivery of clipping every syllable makes "End of Beginning" almost embarrassing to listen to. [5]

Ian Mathers: There are some choices here I kind of like (mostly around the lyrics and vocals), but the guitar tone, the chiming synth sound, and something about the production overall feels instantly dated, like I'm already looking forward to me five years from now hearing this and going "yeah, a lot of shit sounded like that in 2024." [5]

Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: An absolute nothing of a song – but I know, deep in my heart, that if I had encountered this as a college freshman it would have absolutely rocked my shit. Keery is seven years too late for me, but I'm glad this exists for those who need it. Will I still feel this warmly towards this mediocrity if I have to hear it out in the world for the next year or so? Well, that's not my problem right now. [4]

Learning, growing, and sharing the passion🐛🦋(U10)

Reflecting on my journey of developing my personal stance as a nature interpreter, I realize my ethos is deeply rooted in storytelling. While I would absolutely consider myself smart and capable of any challenge thrown my way, I wouldn't claim to be the one to ask for a perfectly articulated summary of a concept, or a history (or stats oh gosh...)) But! I am your girl if you want to talk about animals or nature with the same excitement and perception shifts you had as a kid; when learning about something like dinosaurs or other planets for the very first time and feeling like your mind was blown, or maybe even that the person was just making stuff up because of how wild it seemed.

At it’s core, my passion sings when having the chance to discuss niche topics with open-minds that delve into things like evolution, coming from the perspective that there are so many mysteries out there that could be unraveled if you only cared to look.

Just this week, some of these topics for me and some peers have included trying to understand bird tetrachromacy (how and why they can see in UV), mammals returning to the water like whales and dolphins, or how?? Literally how??? lemurs got to Madagascar.

To me, it's not just about sharing information, but having fun in the process and getting to share what you learn about the animals and their exploits in ways that would rival the wildest fantasy stories.

I've been playfully dubbed the "zookeeper of knowledge" by a friend in this context, after spending far too many hours working on a project because we kept getting side-tracked and discussing things not necessarily needed, but so incredibly interesting. (And it’s probably a title I'd gladly claim if it weren't so corny to be honest.) Regardless, it summarizes my commitment to becoming a curator of the captivating craziness that the animal kingdom has to offer. With a bias but passionate zoological perspective, I strive to share my spark of curiosity. ✨

Beyond my zoology lens, I strive for a focus on eco-consciousness in the work that I do, hoping to bridge the gap between science and the public and to foster stronger connection with Mother Nature.

As for translating these passions to children, I’m a firm believer in both transparency and honesty. While it’s almost guaranteed they won’t enjoy their first climate change lesson, I think forming traits of environmental stewardship and the understanding that actions have environmental consequences in children is critical if we want our passion for nature to be held by future generations. I remember my first lonely polar bear on a drifting ice berg video, and yes I was sad….but it left a vivid mark on my consciousness, shaping my understanding of the environmental challenges we face and it very likely brought me to where I am today.

Speaking of inspiring children, I cannot hold myself back as I have to show you guys what I found last week!

[Zoologist Barbie!!!!!!!!💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗]

I'm not even that much of a Barbie fan but I think now I have to be! I would have exploded with joy if I had this as I kid! I mean, if Barbie is doing it, I can't even imagine how many little girls will now be exposed to the possibility of studying zoology or similar topics and I won't lie...I could cry 🥹 (not to mention how close the koala is to a lemur and my personal goals regarding that....interesting......verrry interesting 🔮)

Though I still think going outside with curiosity in mind is the number one way to develop a relationship with nature, I’d consider things and representations like this even more important in places like cities, where natural spaces are becoming less and less accessible due to never-ending infrastructure and the digital domination of screens and virtual experiences.

The allure of video games and online platforms often out-win outdoor activities at least in my own anecdotal experience, raising concerns about the disconnect between the younger generation and the natural world. I think environmental educators are becoming more and more important in schools, and I believe they play a pivotal role in counteracting this trend, as they offer opportunities for a child to focus on wonders within the natural world. I had a hard time myself trying to sound reasonable to many of my friends and family as a kid when saying I wanted to study animals and nature since technology was progressing so quickly and I was viewed as looking backwards.

and so I think this doll (or things similar) can reinspire or hold that flame when kids aren't yet to sure if they'll find a nice outdoor spot to explore, an educator excited to answer questions, or a community like Guelph that embraces natural sciences so much.

In my opinion, harsh climate crisis truths can surely be sugar-coated for young minds to an extent, but to completely wait until their old enough to ‘actually understand’ is just providing the perfect opportunity for a child to become a distracted or oblivious teenager or adult. Again, this is my opinion but at this point in time, in a current climate crisis with almost no signs of slowing down, being an adult in a country like Canada and purposely ignoring it is NOT cool!!

Now, we don’t have to live every moment with the weight of the world on our shoulders, and I don’t wish that on anyone! But I believe the absolute bare minimum is to consider our actions in relation to nature and provide the next generation the building blocks and exposure they'll need to make environmentally conscious choices. Concepts like reusable water bottles over disposable plastic ones, not littering, and realizing our planet belongs to others too aren’t scary things and if anything, promote cultures of care and community. These seemingly simple ideas start to lay the foundation for responsible and conscious individuals to gladly carry the torch of environmental awareness into the future!

Anyways, that's what's up with me, and so I hope you've found at least one thing on my blog that made you think about, reconsider, or learn something, and maybe even want to go hug a tree 💝🐛

Since 2020, when this beautiful series called The Owl House started, at first it didn't attract my attention, I saw promotions for the series on Disney Channel, but I wasn't interested, until some time later I got grom dance spoilers, and the news on Google that Luz is openly bisexual, well... from there I became curious, but not so much to watch the series, until 2021 arrived, before the second season premiered... I was very bored at home, So I turned on the television to see what was on and suddenly The Owl House came on, I don't remember very well what episode it was, but since I had nothing better to do I started to watch the episode, and when I finished it I said: oh wow, what Such an incredible series, what a pity I didn't give it a chance at first.

From that moment on, I became a fan of TOH, I joined groups that like the series, I saw different opinions about each chapter that happened, I loved the fanarts they shared, the odd theory smoked, seeing Toh's edits, it was great ,and I am grateful to have known this beautiful series, full of magic, mystery, love, action and other genres, with very nice characters who taught me great things

Luz taught me not to be perfect, because humans make mistakes and we know how to repair them, to get out of my comfort zone, and to achieve my goals no matter what, never give up on what I set out to do, to be happy as I am, not to judging people for what they are and that we weirdos should be united❤️✨🥺, and the truth is, I've been through something similar as Luz, that's why it has taught me a lot.

Eda, she taught me that I don't have to be anyone's chosen one, if I have a dream, I am the only one who can fulfill it, to accept my inner beast, because at the end of the day we have to accept ourselves with everything and flaws❤️✨🥰

King, taught me that dreams are not always going to satisfy us or it is not really what we wanted, King has always wanted to be the authority and when he already had that power... he felt empty, but remember that he has people who love him for being who he is and that is his true dream ❤️✨

Willow taught me not to let envious or annoying people prevent you from being yourself, prevent you from achieving things and make you believe that you are useless when we are not, we are capable of doing the things we want and achieving them step by step, nothing or nobody stops us ❤️✨

Gus taught me not to try to fit in with a certain group of people, not to be carried away by what others expect of one, to show that we can be better and not give up on what we set out to do ✨❤️

Amity, taught me that people can change, she was the best in her class, she felt superior...just like her mother wanted, but it all ended when a person opposite her arrived, who makes mistakes and doesn't there is perfection ❤️✨

Hunter taught me not to let ourselves be controlled, to do what people expect me to be, to go our own way, to make our own decisions to have a different life, to know that some people really value what you do and not to feel you useless ✨❤️

Each character gave me some teachings, but you know what? Even the bad guys give you lessons so you don't commit their steps

Belos, full of envy, hate, seeing that his older brother fell in love with a witch and that's why he...💀💀, since then he has sought power, to be the leader of all witches and deceive an entire city pretending to be the good guy, well, at least he taught me not to hate certain people as such

Odalia, uff almost following the same footsteps as Belos, but more than anything she wanted to be superior to others and to put aside those "useless" and "inferior" people, she made a family for them to follow in her same footsteps, and in the end of accounts, his actions affected him being the slave of someone else, no matter how much money I have, I will never feel superior to others.

Boscha, bothering willow, because she's a loser, she's almost a witch, and unlike Amity... she didn't have any past that made her a bad person, she's just bad, she's going to hurt you no matter what No matter who you are, I learned that you don't have to be a bad person without teaching me that

On the romantic side:

Luz and Amity taught me to trust your partner, to support them in those moments of defeat, to love a person as they are, to protect them, to help them in whatever they need, without a doubt, they are a beautiful couple and one of the healthiest I've seen in the animation, I loved every moment they spent together ❤️✨

Raine and Eda, I learned about not lying, if I really have a concern, that I have the confidence to tell it without fear, about mutual support, to solve things and support each other ✨✨❤️

And this series was not possible without the great Dana Terrace, who has created with her team this wonderful series full of magic and fun, full of traumas and teachings, but sadly every beginning of an adventure has its end, and so is the life, somehow we too are going to end, being born on earth to discover it, to create our own life, to make mistakes and repair them, to be happy as we are, to help people, to fulfill our goals and dreams and never give up and this series has taught us all of that

Thank you very much to this series for being a part of my life and thank you Dana for creating it, it will always be in my heart and I will always remember it ❤️🥺✨🥰

And if in the future there is a TOH book, movie, comic or whatever, I'll gladly see it ❤️✨

so a huge thing happened today

my favorite person in the world has announced his next album drop

if anyone from the wonder years on tumblr remembers me and my OG url, lonelylullaby13, knows that i am the biggest owl city fan and have been for over a decade now. i grew up with him on tumblr and twitter and tinychat, and i’ve made so many wonderful friends because of adam young.

i saw him as my first concert in november of 2011 as a present for my 14th birthday and it was so magical. i was front row and he talked about how he had gotten kidney stones and how badly they hurt. then he told everyone to drink a lot of lemonade because that helps. then he started playing setting sail by port blue and i called out to him the name of the song, and he pointed to me and was excited i knew the name. after my concert in 2011, i looked up his tag on tumblr and that was the beginning of something beautiful.

metropolis altered my DNA. i will forever be changed because of that song.

beautiful times is one of the biggest reasons why i stuck around in college. a sticky note on my mirror with the lyrics “this fight of my life is so hard, but i’m gonna survive. these are beautiful times”

also the lesser known covers of certain songs that only OG hoot owls would know if you were around for johnwaynepizzaparty. his cover of garden party really stuck with me as well “it’s alright now, i’ve learned my lesson well. you see you can’t please anyone so you gotta please yourself”

also i have single handedly convinced myself bombshell blonde was written about me. because duh. you can’t tell me otherwise.

we’ve had a couple interactions on twitter (me just waiting for him to post and then spamming his replies until he noticed me). one time i said “tell me where is gandalf, for i much desire to speak with him” and he replied “i think he’s in the john”. as if i was a LOTR fan????? bestie no.

and one time he commented on my instagram photo asking me where i got my coca cola sweater in my profile picture at the time. he said “i used to work for coke and i never even got a t shirt”

i fell out of touch for a while because you know, it happens. people grow and their tastes change and what not. i had just graduated college when cinematic came out and i just wasn’t feeling the vibe of it except for a couple songs (shout out fiji water and cloud nine).

anyway, i have no other social media presence since i deleted my instagram and facebook a couple years ago, so i’m here to shout from the rooftops—

adam young is dropping a new album this summer and i’m going ABSOLUTELY FERAL. i hope you guys join me on this incredible journey.

Eliza Carroll used to be close to her grandmother who would tell her stories of a mysterious land called Wonderland but as the years went on they became separated as Eliza focused on her life. When she is called to her grandmother’s will reading, she is shocked to discover that her grandmother left her everything. Another surprise that awaits her is that her parent’s political machinations have sprung a surprise engagement on Eliza to a man she has never meant and has never wanted. She runs off only to find herself in the arms of a man named Finn who declares she is the next Alice and takes her to Wonderland. Finn, the White Rabbit, can transform into a rabbit and is tasked with securing the latest Alice for Wonderland as without an Alice to decide which court, Red or White, is to rule, Wonderland will devolve into utter chaos. Finn is tasked with securing Alice for the Red Court and if he fails to do so, it’s his head that will be rolling... literally. Turns out Eliza’s grandmother was the last Alice and had tasked Finn with finding Eliza and showing her around Wonderland before she made her choice over which court is to rule, and as Alice, Finn has to do as she commands. What Finn never expects is to be completely bewitched by this new Alice, by Eliza. What started off as just a simple task of getting her only turns more complicated as their journey goes on and the feelings between them grows. Yet Wonderland is complicated and so are it’s courts... and Finn has so many secrets. Can Alice survive both courts and her growing feelings for Finn or will Wonderland destroy her too? This was such a fun take on the Alice in Wonderland story and I had a blast with it. Fair warning though, please be aware of the triggers in this book before going into it, as I went into it blind and didn’t realize before reading. I like the chemistry between Finn and Eliza and I especially adored Chesa because, yes, I do love Cheshire Cat the most haha. Overall, it’s a great take on a classic fairytale and a fun reimagining that will be perfect for fans of the original story! It gave me Once Upon a Time Wonderland show vibes and I am all here for it!

2022 in review, part 6: comics & manga first reads

1. orcs! by christine larsen (2021)

this is frighteningly perfect. orcs as protagonists, cute (but not too cute for orcs) art, and just supremely powerful good boy energy. (yeah a lot of the protagonists aren’t boys, but i feel like all orcs have good boy energy regardless of gender.) also it’s kinda gay!

this filled a hole i didn’t even know could be filled (which despite being ace is oftentimes what i’m looking for with orcs, hey-o), with the only problem being that whenever i go out looking for more orc fiction i’m looking for this specific vibe and nothing else has it. woof.

(in all seriousness i wouldn’t want every orc story to have this vibe because that would make it less special, but still i want more of this than this and its immediate sequel, y’know?)

2. the witch boy by molly ostertag (2017)

given the title & author i am less than 0% surprised how strongly i vibed with this. this gave me so many gender feels.

3. batman/teenage mutant ninja turtles (2015-16) writer: james tyrnion iv / artist: freddie williams ii

a love letter to fans of both franchises. this is one of the all-time great crossovers between two totally separate franchises. it might be the best ever.

4. the adventure zone, vol. 4: the crystal kingdom (2021) writers: clint mcelroy & griffin mcelroy & justin mcelroy & travis mcelroy artist: carey pietsch

it took me a minute to get into adventure zone because i was so thoroughly spoiled by the frankly superior dimension 20, but it really does grow on you. and i think the crystal kingdom story is the first one where the comic adaptation actually noticeably improved upon the podcast. the ending especially was just so arresting seeing it in comic form, and it really had an impact on me that i don’t remember it having when i was listening to the pod.

5. superman: birthright (2003-04) writer: mark waid / artists: leinil francis yu & gerry alanguilan

not only is this the best verison of superman’s origin story i’ve ever seen, it’s one of the best superman comics i’ve ever read.

6. batman, vol. 2: the city of owls (2012) writers: scott snyder & james tynion iv / artists: greg capulo & rafael albuquerque & more

what made this so special is not just that it was the epic confrontation between batman and the court (and possibly his long-lost brother). it also had two side stories, one that showed that the new 52 version of mr. freeze is kind of a unique twist on the character, but i'm actually way more interested in the last issue of the volume. this issue featured a pair of super gay siblings named harper and cullen row. harper will eventually become the hero bluebird, but for now we just see her civilian life and how she first comes into contact with batman. and honestly, just seeing these two low-income queer siblings existing and being extremely relatable was such a joy.

7. avatar: tsu’tey’s path (2019) writer: sherri l. smith / artists: dan parsons & jay durresma

basically a drastically better version of the first movie with less human stuff. it couldn’t totally remove the shitty white savior stuff from the narrative obviously since it is following the same events, but it did at least push them off to the side as much as it could.

8. batman: hush (2002) writer: jeph loeb / artist: jim lee

i’ve been a batman/catwoman shipper since before i knew that shipping was a thing, so obviously i loved this. ivy being blatantly femdommy, and bisexual at that, was also extremely, extremely, extremely my jam. yes please. more of that, please.

9. pleasure & corruption, vol. 1 by you someya (2019)

*pounding fist on table in rhythm to words* more. boy. subs. more. boy. subs. more. boy. subs.

i do wish so many authors didn’t seem so convinced that subby boys always have to “deserve it” by being pervs or whatever in stories like this, it makes them way harder to relate to. but yeah. seeing a boy get tied up and bullied a bunch is extremely wish fulfillment imo. also, loveloveloved the heavy emphasis on bondage, obviously.

10. 5 seconds before a witch falls in love by zeniko sumiya (2021)

a super cute enemies-to-lovers yuri about a witch & witch hunter. hell yeah.

Amphibia-The Hardest Thing Recap

The hardest thing is saying goodbye. Spoilers below.

The episode begins with the core, still alive, flying off to the moon to drive it into the planet. It would rather kill all life on Amphibia than die. Valeriana pops up, after being gone all of season three. She uses the box to give Sasha and Marcy powers. So the three fly up and fight the moon.

It starts out so easy, the whole thing feels like a victory lap. But Sasha and Marcy are still new to this and start to burn out. Mother Olm warns Anne that using the true power of the stones would kill her, but she does it anyway. And ANdrias smashes his crown, killing the last bit of the core. Anne blows up the moon and she turns to dust. It’s only been ten minutes!

But before dying the entity behind the stones copies her mind and brings it to wherever it is. I guess that means the Anne we end the series with is technically a clone. Not a huge fan of that. The entity takes the form of a computer but when Anne quips that it’s an old one so it takes the form of Domino. It pulls a Kami and asks Anne to take it’s place since she saved the world. Anne points out she’s a dumb 13-year-old, or 2-minute-old. So the Entity decides to check in when she dies again.

Anne is sent back with just enough power to get the girls home. All the girls get heartfelt goodbyes with their respective amphibian families. And the girls go and the box turns to dust.

We jump ten years later, we get to see Polly as a proper frog! Yunan and Olivia are a couple. I was worried that the hand holding during their goodbye to Marcy but it feels more organic putting it here. Andrias is helping restore the environment he destroyed. And he’s chained up to show he is a prisoner. The frogs of Wartwood put up a statue of Anne. Would have done that earlier but it’s a good moment.

Back on Earth, Sasha has become a child psychologist or a teacher and Marcy makes a webcomic. I am kinda of bummed that the calamity trio drifted apart during high school. I get that it ties in to the themes of accepting change and not holding on but wasn’t separating them from their frog family enough? It’s mediated by skipping that part and jumping to them reunited for Anne’s 23rd birthday.

And Sasha’s bi! Good for her. It’s weirdly small. Maybe Matt had trouble getting in or couldn’t fit it in organically. Or it could have been trouble with the censors. It seems like you need to pre-plan this stuff to a ridiculous degree to get it in. No shipping for the girls. While I was partial to Anne/Marcy, I’m fine with them focusing on the friendship.

Anne meanwhile had become a herpetologist and the frog lady at the aquarium.

That was a wild ride. It was nice to see the show grow on to its own and see the fandom explode once Marcy was introduced. I am sad to see the lore heavy adventure shows that I cut my teeth writing about for this blog go away though. Adventure Time ushered in a wonderful age of animation and it’s bittersweet to see it slowly be replaced by slice of life shows. Not that those slice of life shows are bad, Creig of the Creek, Big City Greens, and The Ghost and Molly Mcgee are wonderful shows, but will miss shows like Amphibia and Owl House, which is wrapping up soon.

Although this episode gets a ¾ the series as a whole gets 4/4.
