Hey, I saw a post from another tumblr user that you are a Zionist and spreading false info about Jewish people being excluded from pride parades and I don't know what a Zionist is (they just said it was nationalist) but I enjoy your blog and wanted to ask you about it directly to understand better whats going on if thats okay? Im not anonymous in case you want to privately answer or tell me youd not want to discuss. 💕

first, i wanna thank you for being respectful about this, and for asking this off anon. this tells me you're asking in good faith, so i'm happy to answer.

i've had to state numerous times on my blog that i'm not a zionist bc people love to slap that label on any jew they disagree with, which is exactly what's happening in this situation. they disagreed with what i said about a lot of jews not feeling comfortable at pride because of the pervasive antisemitism in queer spaces, and several queer events banning the jewish pride flag because it "looked too similar to the israeli flag" and decided that made me a zionist. it happens a lot bc ppl know that that word is very taboo in activist spaces, and labeling you a zionist is a surefire way to get you kicked out of a lot of progressive circles. interestingly (said with a huge dollop of sarcasm) this rarely happens to gentiles.

zionist is also a pretty useless word for determining what someone actually believes, because depending on who you ask their ideologies can range from "i think that jewish people should be able to live in the land that is currently israel and palestine alongside palestinians and other indigenous groups" to "i think that only jews should get to live in that area and we should kick everyone else out." and as you can imagine, there's lots of people like me who agree with the first statement but vehemently disagree with the second. it's become somewhat of a dogwhistle, to the point that alt righters popularized "zio" as a slur, which was then picked up by leftists (because there is also a huge problem with antisemitism in leftist and non palestinian gentile-dominated antizionist spaces.) one of the events i mentioned in the first paragraph deleted a tweet using this slur.

the person you're probably talking about also claimed that i, a genderqueer trans man, am a misogynist, because i said that jewish masculinity is very culturally different from white masculinity and that i find a lot of comfort in it. they cited a bunch of problems with misogyny within the orthodox community, despite the fact i'm not orthodox or even ashkenazi. what it boiled down to is that they disagree with the takes i have on anti transmasculinity, and they needed something else to pin it on.

so in the future, if you see someone accusing a jew of being a zionist, take everything they have to say with a bucket full of salt and do as you did with this ask and go ask the person what they actually believe. sometimes you'll find their beliefs actually don't line up with your morals and you can unfollow, but the vast majority of the time you'll find that they just said something someone didn't like and it was the easiest way to discredit them.

in general, i don't share my opinions about zionism/antizionism on tumblr because that's not what my blog is centered on, and also i oppose the expectation that jews should have to disclose our opinions on zionism in order for gentiles to determine whether or not we are worth listening to. i also have a lot of thoughts abt how the focus on anti-anything makes it easier for activists to weaponize that activism against marginalized people, but that's an entirely different post.

anyway, i hope that answers your question, and i will probably pin this ask somewhere on my blog since i have been asked this a few times now and it seems unavoidable since ppl just won't drop it.

mark... would actually melt. likes being adored in a way thats different from the usual praise and skinship he receives from the people around him. he gives you a certain ability to be able to be clingy in ways others can't if that makes sense? doesn't have a preference on when you're clingy with him, he just loves that you hang onto him constantly. always encourages you to love up on him, especially if people make backhanded comments and he sees you slowly pulling away?? he hates that sm! would honestly want his own space sometimes because he's always busy, but never ever makes you feel like you're a burden or a chore

renjun... i don't know if he would like it too much! everyone adores him all the time and yes having a partner is different than him hanging out with the neos but i honestly think he just likes everything to be private and pretty basic. that's not to say he doesn't like you being clingy or won't be clingy to you back, he just prefers to have you in private. likes it when he senses you need him and he feels very wanted in a sense that you always seem to want to touch him and follow him around. usually doesn't mind it because you're not invasive about it. sets healthy boundaries though!

jeno... loves it. oh my god i feel like he would want a clingy parter. he's on the quieter side so someone to just sit with him and wrap themselves around him like a koala while he just goes on about his day just, sounds so nice and appealing?? loves it when you follow him around like a lost kitten... he pats you on the head as a reward each time, v wholesome overall! especially likes you being clingy in public because he lives and breathes to show you off like UGH and when you're not afraid to show the world how obsessed with him you are??? ugh! you sitting on his lap while he games?? feels as though he won at life

haechan... oh my god, its so hard to be clingy with him because he's already so clingy with you. he reminds me of those high school and university boys who like tease you sm but are always so sweet and look like a puppy and you can't help but... adore them?! and he thinks if you the same way. honestly if you're usually really clingy, he adores it regardless and you both are in your own lovey little world 90% of the time BUUT if you usually aren't and start being clingy with him out of the blue, oh he will never let you live it down

jaemin... takes it as an opportunity to baby you to the max!! if he had a partner i think, since his moods vary sm and he's more of an ambivert, he would want to gauge how clingy and lovey he would be to his partner whenever he would get into those moods, so when he sees you being clingy, he takes that as an open to be doting to you and he also finds himself getting into a cutesy mindset?? as well? really enjoys you in general and he's a pretty touchy person himself and i think he would especially be a fond of clinginess if he is in love with someone the way he loves you. a cuddler for sure

chenle... one of his favorite things about you hehe. likes to feel like a big man yknow, i've said this before LOL but its true!! i will say though he seems to me like the type of person who likes his alone time and personal space but does allow you to cling to him because... its YOU! and he has a very soft spot for you. but also, like renjun, makes it a point to communicate when he wants his own space. and he is very good at not making you feel bad about it, just offers different alternatives so he doesn't get like... overstimulated

jisung... is used to people being lovable and adoring but... this is so different like, you want to pepper his face with KISSES??? oh my gosh. doesn't mind you being clingy but never knows how to handle it especially in the beginning of you guys dating. learns your clingy habits and comes to adore the way you treat him when you lean towards a more doting mood like UGHHH and if you're shorter than him?? and he just looks down at you while you smile lovingly with your arms wrapped around him GAHHH. likes back hugs from you when you're extra clingy. he is obsessed with you and slowly becomes equally as clingy

CHAPTER ONE back from rehab

SYNOPSIS the beginning of a teenage girl named y/n who is fresh out of rehab but doesn't intend to stay clean.

FROM THE WRITER AHH IM SORRY IM LATE GUYS!! This is the first chapter I'm ever writing, I took some inspo from episode 1 but I'm going to have to cut each episode into fourths because I really don't want to spend a whole week trying to finish a whole episode and school work. But I hope you guys really enjoy this chapter as much as I did - Love you guys, Sapiyah <3

Suddenly, the whole world goes dark and nothing else matters except the person standing in front of you.

You were once happy. Content.

Sloshing and swimming around your own private, primordial pool; Then one day, for reasons beyond your control, you were continuously and repeatedly crushed...

Over..and over.. again by the cervix of your mother, M/n.

You put up a good fight, but eventually lost, for the first time, but not the last.

You were born 3 days after 9/11, your mother and father spent two days in the hospital, holding you under the soft glow of the television, watching those towers fall over and over again, until the feeling of grief gave away to numbness.

And then, without warning, a middle-class childhood in the American suburbs.

You were sitting at the dinner table with your mother, M/n, and Father, F/n. But it appeared something else had gotten your attention, a set of numerous lights above the dinner table, in which you wanted to count.

"Thirteen, Fourteen, Fifteen, Sixteen, Seventeen.."

" What are you looking at y/n?"

"..."

"What are you doing? ..Y-y/n look at me."

"One, two, three, .."

"What are you doing Y/n?"

*cries*

"Id say she's suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder..."

Its not like you were physically abused..

"...attention deficit disorder..."

..Or had some type of clean water storage..

"..general anxiety disorder.."

..Or was molested by a family member.

"..and possibly bipolar disorder. But she's a little bit too young to tell."

So, explain this shit to me.

"Honey, it's just the way your brain was hardwired; Plenty of great, intelligent, funny, interesting and creative people have struggled with the same things you struggle with."

"Like who?"

"Vincent Van Gogh, Sylvia Plath, and even Brittney Spears, your favorite!"

You haven't remembered much from the ages of eight to twelve. Just that the world moved fast, and your mind moved slow.

"Does anyone have an idea of what a perception might be?"

And every now and then, if you focused on the way you breathed...

You'd die.

"Slow down, just breathe"

Until every second of the day, you'd find yourself trying to outrun your anxiety.

"What's wrong Y/n?"

..And quite frankly..

"I'm just fucking exhausted"

Coming down to the kitchen, you could hear the small talk between your mother and younger sister, S/N.

"You said the doctor was in our network. How can he suddenly be out of network?"

"I can't afford it."

"Did you see that video of the girl who got acid thrown at her face?"

"What? No.."

"It's pretty fucked up.."

"Mom do you know where the tampons are?"

"In my bathroom, right under the sink."

And at one point, you'd make a choice of who you are and what you want.

"Alright Gia, let's go"

"Why do the co-payments cost $300?"

"Y/n did you eat breakfast?"

".."

"What's with the glasses?"

"What glasses?"

You just happened to show up one day, without a map or a compass..

"Attention students, we need to lockdown."

..Or to be honest, anyone capable of giving on iota of good fucking advice.

And I know it all seems sad but guess what? You did not build this system up, nor fuck it up yourself.

But then it happens. That moment where your breath starts to slow. And every time you breathe, you breathe out all the oxygen you have.

Then everything stops: Your heart, your lungs, then finally, your brain. And everything you feel, you wish, and want to forget, it all just sinks.

And then suddenly... you give it air again, give it life again.

You remember the first time it happened, where you were so scared you wanted to call 911. Go to the hospital and be kept alive by machines and apple juice. But you didn't want to look like an idiot, and you didn't want to fuck up everyone else's night.

And now overtime, that's all you've wanted.. those two seconds of nothingness.

You spent a good portion of summer before junior year in rehab. God granted you the serenity to accept things you cannot change, the courage to change the things you can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

"Y/N," your sister yelled from afar, greeting you after your long leave. You smiled, and whilst running up to her, tried to continue the conversation with your younger sibling.

"Hey, Come here!"

"How are you?"

"Good, I missed you."

"I missed you too."

"Look at you, are you growing?"

"No."

Looking over, you see your mother standing by your family car.

"Hey," you yelled out to her, only to receive a small smile from her.

And with that. you knew it was your time to go.

"I'm very happy for you Y/n. You're about to start a brand-new chapter," Your mother says while driving you and your sister to school. You looked at her with a smile, then turned your attention back to the car window.

You had no intentions of staying clean. And yet, Jirou just moved into town.

"There's some new girl in town that I think you'll be friends with," Shoto said, with you standing beside him in his store.

"Who?"

"Shit, I don't know. She came in looking all punk rock and shit; So I'm thinking to myself, like, 'look like somebody Y/n would be friends with'."

Which was sort of a dead-on observation for Shoto, who's not normally revolving in the same direction as planet earth.

"So how long have you been back?" He asked.

"About five days."

"And how are you feeling?"

"I mean, ever since I gave my life over to my lord and savior Jesus Christ, things have been, like, really good."

"Word? That's what's up," You chuckled at his snarky remark, giving him a small smile.

"I'm fucking with you," you said whilst laughing, "It was a joke."

"Shit, hey, I don't judge," he defended, hands raising to just above his chest.

"But for real, is Deku in the back?"

"Are you serious?" Shoto questioned, seeming very disappointed in you.

"What, you think cause' I went to rehab I stayed clean?"

"I mean, ain't that the point?" he asks.

"Yeah, well, the world is coming to an end, and I haven't even graduated high school yet."

You gave Shoto one more smile before going to Deku, whilst Shoto stared at you the entire way there; There was a hint of sadness in his eyes, but since you were too busy looking for Deku, you didn't see.

You opened one of the doors of the refrigerators, leading you right to him with a bowl of fruit loops,"I thought your ass was dead," he said one he saw your appearance.

"And I thought you had Asperger's till I realized your just a prick," you barked back.

"This a fickle industry, y'all come and go. I'm just trying to stack my cash, pay off our mortgage," he said while pulling out a bunch of plastic bags out of a microwave.

"So what the fuck do you want?" You gave him a knowing look before he handed you needed.

"You sure you don't want to try something new?" He asks you.

"Like what?"

"2C-T-2, 2C-T-7, and 5-MeO-DIPT."

"I'm sorry I have no fucking idea of what you just said."

"It doesn't matter," he stated, "but this shit, is fucking lit."

"What is it?"

"N-diisopropyl-5-methoxytryptamine. It's a fast-acting psychedelic."

Got some similarities to LSD, but with, like, key differences. Not as visual as shit, but definitely a sense distorter.

"What's wrong?" That same dark purple hair girl questioned.

"I'm just so happy," you responded back.

"I don't know, this shits been going off in Tampa, and mad people like to fuck with this," Deku continued on with his descriptions with the drug.

"Okay. Yeah, why not."

"That'll be 120."

"Oh uh, Shoto said he'd spot me."

"Shoto doesn't spot nobody."

"Yeah, well, it's a post-rehab discount, so you should ask him."

"I will go ask him, cause' I know your full of shit."

Those were the last words he said before you walked out. Those were the last words you heard before you saw the same two boys in freshman year.

As we all already know, most of the characters in BSD, especially ability users, are based on real life authors. Stormbringer explicitly stated that bsd!Lippmann was "an extremely powerful skill user" so he must be based on someone. And guess what? There happens to be a writer with the exact name as his.

Walter Lippmann was an American journalist, politician, and writer. He was deemed as "the most gifted and influential American political journalist of the twentieth century". His works mostly took the theme of public relations and stuff. Sounds familiar?

I'd like to add this part from the etymology section of his(bsd) wiki btw, just in case you didn't know.

Does it end there? No, not quite.

Let's take a look at his most popular work; Public Opinion.

"...The pictures inside the heads of these human beings, the pictures of themselves, of others, of their needs, purposes, and relationship, are their public opinions. Those pictures which are acted upon by groups of people, or by individuals acting in the name of groups, are Public Opinion with capital letters."

People, generally, have some sort of "persona" of themselves that they would try to plant on other people's minds. Kinda like the Japanese "three faces" proverb, you may say. And how do they achieve it? By only presenting that persona; by masking; by acting.

Simply said, him being an actor might be a reference to (or a representation of) that human nature which P.O. talks of. An actor acts—they dive into the role of another character that's not them. (Which, when you think about it, is just what us humans do on a daily basis, except they do it professionally and for a living, which when you think about it again—)

Mr. Lippmann also published books titled "A Preface to Politics" and "A Preface to Morals" which is....interesting.

Okay, "preface" and "face" technically are different. Though they still share somewhat a similar meaning.

But hear me out. Let's go back to the persona thing. Generally, what people would want to be perceived as is as the perfect, ideal versions of themselves. To make that happen, they would have to put on a good first impression. And what's usually the first thing that people notice about a person? Correct—their appearance; their face.

Lippmann(bsd) was multiple times described as "perfect" (like okay asagiri, he's pretty, we get it), especially regarding his looks (and capabilities). See what I'm saying?

Lippmann was the stage face, the public image of the Port Mafia. He was the preface to the Port Mafia. He created the pictures in people's head of the Port Mafia.

As a verb, however, "face" has another meaning:

He negotiated with front companies, met and talked with political figures, and even dealt with the press if push came to shove.

I feel like this might be merely a coincidence or a pun, though. But the fact that his field of work in the Port Mafia was specifically negotiating with the "real world" is definitely not something Asagiri just pulled out of thin air—or so I believe to be the case, at least, having read this paragraph.

• Alex's music taste is pretty diverse, there are two sides to it. Sometimes he wants an upbeat vibe, in which he listens to Bleachers, Wallows, Cavetown, Bruno Mars, and Dayglow. Summer, driving down empty roads at night kinda vibes. Enjoying life. The other side is The Neighborhood, Glass Animals, and Ricky Montgomery. He hides it that side of his music taste and denies listening to 'depressing' music. Music is the only way he expresses this sort of stuff, but it's only in private.

• His love language is giving physical touch and receiving quality time with a touch of words of affirmation. The way he shows his affection is with simple touches, like small hands squeezes and back rubs. Days when you're exhausted after a long day, expect to be pampered by simple touches, because Alex is happy to provide. The only thing he needs is time with you, he just wants to have fun experiences with you that he can look back on. That sprinkled with soft affirmations that he's doing well, you've got him wrapped around your finger.

• He is not very picky at all when it comes to gifts, he has things he favors over others, but there is a high chance he will love what you give him. He also really cherishes things, he hates to admit it but he is a sentimental person. He commissioned Robin to build him a wooden box to put all of the gifts you've given him in it, he keeps it hidden under his bed but it's pulled out very often. He keeps certain mementos of you out around his room though, and always keeps at least one thing in this pocket.

• Gridball has been one of his interests since he was a kid. Watching it while sitting in his mother's lap as a child always helped him calm down. Although, his father did taint his image of the sport. He always said things like "Why can't you be like that?" It then began to dwell on his mind a lot, he could be like that if he really wanted to. He was hyperfocused on it, causing him to neglect things. School, his health, his relationships with his friends. He's beginning to get better about it, though. His mental and physical well-being is important, too, and he's beginning to let that set in.

• One of his weekly rituals is every Sunday, he swings by Pierre's and buys Evelyn a bouquet of flowers. He really wants to show her that he appreciates her, since he didn't get a chance to show that to his mother before her passing. He'll buy the bouquet and take one flower out of it, sitting it by her grave on the way back home. He tries not to dwell on it, so he makes his visits brief, but he still wants to show his love for both of the women in his life. If you like flowers, regardless of you gender, he'll incorporate you into that routine. You'll get your own bouquet of flowers every Sunday as well.

• While in a game, he always gets really excited if some of his friends or family come to watch him. Between plays, you'll often see him looking out to the crowd, hoping to see the people that are the most important to him. If he has his phone, he'll often text asking where they are, and then he'll finally find them. Whoever comes out to support him will get the biggest hug whenever he sees them next. He loves supporting his friends, and when they support him, it means a lot to him.

SHE IS A VERY COOL MOM janet afton you will always be famous. to me

Im taking this as a chance to finally ramble abt her anyways so Janet's core inspo when designing her was to avoid 2 key things. Don't make her like Immortal & Th Restless's Clara (due to clara representing michael, not mrs afton, so i wanted to avoid that), and don't base her too heavily off of Ballora. I still have ties to Ballora's character (a music-based theme, blue-centric colour palette, im sure there were more basic ideas but everything else is more hc than themes to keep up) due to my hc thingy of each Funtime having ties to William's wife + kids, but yknow.

But yeah. Funky lady who played bass guitar + did backup vocals in a band during her high school and college years. Literally her and William dating can be summed up by "Seriously, what do you see in that guy?!" "He makes me laugh." bc she was and is WAY out of his goddamn league. Not just bc of the whole serial killer thing he was just an even bigger loser in college. Normal people dont develop a crush on a woman after she nearly breaks your nose and makes you bleed, William /j

But yeah uhh. I also dont like the idea of her being absent or neglectful purely because I got way too attached to her (i was originally gonna do that just to make things easy for myself but. Pretty lady,,, I am a very simple lesbian what can i say) so like. She obviously wasnt the greatest, most fantastic mom to ever exist given she was kinda maybe sorta well aware William was making some weird fucking clowns, but like. Hey. She tried. Also side note my reasoning for her being absent during the whole. Yknow. '83 event (and just evan's bday in general) is bc Evan + Elizabeth are twins and Elizabeth demanded a girls-only trip for her bday, and Janet promised Evan she'd do something just as special for him when she got back. That never happened bc he died lmao loser /j

But yeah uhh. Shes got a lot of regrets. Wishes she coulda done a lot of things better. Kinda dies with those regrets. Ive seen people say that one of fnaf's charms is that no character is 100% good and i LOVE that, and wanted to keep it up with Janet. Good mom and overall a good person, however made some bad decisions along the way and whatnot.

Im still working out specifics (ive been slowly working on a lil private fic abt her and william meeting + their early relationship) but uhhh. Actually no theres more that im remembering as i write the tags and edit a few details. Back to her and William because god im insane about them. So for starters it. Well i was gonna say Janet was def the first to flirt but i think William definitely developed a crush first and they only kept talking bc of said crush so its kinda up for debate. Ill be honest. Idk if I am making sense here but I find Daniel’s attitude and overall lack of comprehension toward the intended - subtle or not - misogyny that he’s around a MAJOR ICK!

I’m thinking of the European 🐱comment, this book etc. Daniel doesn’t come out with anything but a laugh and stunned silence instead of “hey look, let’s not objectify women” or “ah it’s a bit of fun isn’t it? For me, it’s weird, but let’s not shame the person who has written it”. In private he can laugh at as many 🐱 jokes as he wants too, he can talk all day long about how f*cking weird fanfics about him are BUT when it’s in the public eye and he has hundreds of thousands of female fans, it’s pretty gross and feels like he doesn’t care about female fans at all. (Idk if this makes sense in the way I’ve written it)

We all know he doesn’t keep up with the news (he’s said so himself) but he comes across as tone deaf sometimes. You can get away with that at 22,23 but he’s in his 30s with a girlfriend. Come on! It’s not exactly giving “I have a girlfriend and a sister and would hate for my girlfriend and sister to be spoken about like that so let’s chill with the sexist, double standard comments.”

Don’t get me wrong, he’s not the only one (Pierre is a major eyeroll) but he’s not 25, he’s old enough to know better. If this Dax book thing isn’t cut and the drug addict continues to push Daniel to talk about it then shame on Daniel for not saying no - from both his side in it being weird and for ripping apart a female who was just doing something she enjoyed

pretty sure this was related to the other ask about daniel's non-confrontational personality so im just gonna go from there. if daniel were a confrontational person and he chooses to not address the host's misogynistic remarks, then i think it'd be worth discussing whether he lacks the comprehension. but he's not. in fact he resolves conflicts in the most non-confrontational way possible. and im not saying this just to make a point. when i say 'the most' i really mean non-confrontational in like an almost pathological way.

example:

this was after z*k brown fired him in the most public and disrespectful way possible, including assuring him he still has a seat when they'd already given his seat to oscar. mysterious italian man said to him 'told you not to trust zak' and he just. smiled like this.

another example:

here max can be seen getting more and more annoyed for daniel by the second. meanwhile daniel smiled bigger and bigger. and when max interrupted to defend him daniel was NOT SURPRISED AT ALL even though he had appeared totally ok with Crofty’s question up until that point

idk why he is the way he is, but to me it's very obvious he's not a confrontational person. he's like the opposite of confrontational (would literally smile bigger when he's uncomfortable/offended) idek if they have a word for that. "hey look let's not" is just not something he would say.

i do find it disappointing that he didn't call out the host for the p*ssy comment. imo a moment like that is where he (anybody) should've spoken up regardless. but i'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt and trust that he didn't react simply for the same reason he doesn't react to offensiveness/hostility in general. to me it doesn't necessarily mean he lacks the sensitivity or comprehension.

(the book thing was a whole different story tho. that book was literally erotica written about him. for him it's personal. imo he doesn't need to worry about how the writer feels at all)

The Extra Mile

Ever since Anthony was back at Smosh, something had happened to the rest of the cast and crew. They walked just a little friskier, their conversation was just a tad more lighthearted and their laughter just a bit louder. Out of everyone, the change was biggest in Ian, Anthony's co-founder and best friend, then ex-best friend and now best friend again.

Ian had been emerging as the company's new office-clown and mascot for a few months while nobody knew but him and Anthony that the latter would be coming back. The others were shocked and surprised - in a good way - to see Ian so radiant and bright. He didn't use to be this way.

The problem was, nobody (safe one) really knew how to read Anthony yet, not even his best friend. His ever enchanting cackling laughter, his eyes, half moon-shaped and his general coolness… he had these outlandish tattoos that seemed to streak all along his body like paintbrushes, his many rings and piercings, and his ripped jeans, they all gave him the allure of a mysterious rock star from a lost era.

And Anthony really put in an effort to get to know everyone, and them him. He put on a friendly face each day at the Smosh office and laughed at everyone's jokes, which was easy because everyone there was a comedian in their own right.

But he was struggling inside. The reason he wanted to come back wasn't all these people. It was just one. He and Ian had both just been standing there, wide-eyed, smiling at each other, after that day of writing together for the first time in years. It had gone SO well, they couldn't believe they were still such a perfect fit. Their comedy - just the two of them - was wat Anthony realized he craved more than anything in the world.

So, Anthony's efforts to vibe with the other cast were always half-hearted, however hard he tried to care, he just didn't. He just waited out the filming day to spend time again with Ian and come up with sketch ideas together.

There was one person at Smosh who started to notice this about Anthony. Their "got my psychology minor online" comedian, Shayne. It didn't matter to him that people joked about his diploma. He read pretty much everyone like a book. At first, he'd been so glad that Anthony bas back himself, that he hadn't noticed. But whenever he saw Anthony checking his phone more than he had to, he noticed Anthony trying - truly trying, but failing - to be interested in the stories Angela was telling him, Shayne's blonde brows furrowed and he had decided to bring this up privately to Ian.

"He's not happy." Those words crashed into Ian like a bus on a highway.

"This is terrible, I'm such a fool for throwing him into the deep so immediately," he lamented to Shayne.

"Hey, you decided on those things together." It was no use. Ian leaned heavily on his desk.

"I fucked up. Shayne, we need to fix this, fast!"

Ian got all cast and crew together and announced a secret project.

"This is so important, you guys," Ian said so earnestly that nobody dared to laugh. He handed everyone a list. It had all Anthony's likes, dislikes, beliefs, in-jokes and proudest Smosh-moments on it.

"Everyone must memorize these by tomorrow, that's an order!" Ian said. Everyone silently nodded in agreement.

The next day Anthony walked into the Smosh office a little apprehensively. He sighed.

"Come on, get hyped," he told himself. "Try to enjoy this. Ian got Smosh to survive because of this. Let's go!"

Not even one foot inside the building, Shayne says:

"Hi Anthony, wonderful to see you! Here you go, your favorite! Chai latte with a little extra spice!"

"Oh, thank you?" Anthony smiles as a crewmember approaches him.

"Anthony! Here's some vegan, gluten free bagels with vegan salmon and vegan cream cheese!"

"How did you know I love those?"

The crewmember just smiles.

Anthony takes only three steps further until he stops in his tracks. "Is that… Is that Breathless by Asking Alexandria?!"

"It sure is," Angela chimes in while doing a little dance and giggle.

Anthony only just gets to the door of the next room at the office and wants to grab the doorknob, Amanda says "I WOULDN'T DO THAT IF I WERE YOU!"

Anthony jumps and asks "why?"

Amanda lowers her head and raises one eyebrow while whispering: "you'll have to put ice on your precious hand if you touch it…"

Chanse and Tommy walk up to Anthony. Tommy is somehow covered in feathers, making a grandiose sigh. Chanse asks him: "Why the hell are you dressed like a chicken?!"

"And by the way," Arasha appears out of nowhere, holding a bag that says "popcorn" on it, "this popcorn is for… ME! Hahahaha, you don't like popcorn! We have sliced cucumber and guac for you inside.

Amanda opens the door with an oven mitten and Anthony looks into the room. Everyone is there: all of the cast and crew, sitting on bean bags and couches and blankets. Ian stands up in a onesie with his face all over it, and says: "Anthony! Are you ready to watch a movie with us? There's more drinks and food when you're done with those, but remember to go easy on the pepsi!"

Anthony smiles widely. All these people took the time to really get to know him. They are not just 'other people', they are an extension of Ian, an extension of Smosh. Anthony just knows Ian put them all up to this. And he hugs Chanse who stands closest to him and says "Thank you, you guys…" His eyes tear up a little.

bet, to preface though, i am a gay lil shit and so theres a fair bit of oc x canon and weaving his backstory into pre-existing characters ect ect because its fun

the very basics!! Milo is an avatar of the dark that is not entangled in the whole mess of the peoples church of the divine host, however he does have some history with the catholic church.

BACKSTORY- START OF S1 STUFF

he was marked by the dark when he was very young, in an incident that ended up with his immediate family dead and him missing, during which he was also marked by the lonely. eventually he was found and was placed to live with his aunt (mothers side), who was a nun and got him into the church. he was unfortunately targeted and groomed by the priest (i dont know how to make that sound any less harsh my apologies) and generally did a lot of suffering in silence, all the while the temptations of the dark were eating at him. he made a plan to escape to go to college in london, but was found out and accused of being possessed (because they wanted to keep him in the church not out of any genuine concern of him being possessed). an exorcism was attempted on him and he ended up 'dying' in the process. his death was the catalyst for him becoming a full avatar (think like how jon only became a full avatar after pretty much dying in the unknowing) and he killed the priest in an act of revenge and then made his escape, still not knowing what exactly was going on with him as he didnt have any idea what the fears were. since he was declared dead he wasnt a suspect in the priests death, but had some trouble with creating a new identity to go by afterwards because he was still trying to live like a normal person and go to college and all that jazz.

in college was where he ended up meeting Oliver Banks, who took pity on him and finally explained what on earth was going on with him. the two dated briefly before they graduated, milo graduated with a bachelors in library science (if that is the correct name for it im not sure) and ended up getting a job in artifact storage in the magnus institute. (circa 2007, so gertrude era) he was pretty good at his job but was really quiet and private to the point he got a joke reputation for just being a ghost.

when jon became archivist he was transferred to the archives as an assistant, after a 'deal' with elias. elias would make sure he didnt have to hurt ppl to get fear, in return for making sure jon (he said everyone but he rlly only cared abt jon making it) lasted long enough for elias' goals (which he did not share with milo obviously). so milo was sent down to the archives to be a guard dog of sorts.

HOW HIS AVATAR SHIT WORKS

hes less associated with the whole cult-y aspect of the dark (and in fact actively despises the peoples church of the divine host despite their attempts to recruit him) and is closely tied to the 'brackish water' thats often associated with it. both his parents and the priest he killed died via their lungs being filled with black water. he needs skin to skin contact and intention in order to actually kill, which is why he constantly wears gloves, just in case. if he were to touch someone on. say, their chest, they'd get very cold, their throat would start to close and their vision would darken, like the background, other than milo, is fading to black. their lungs fill with black fluid and it usually pours from their mouth, nose and eyes. they basically drown on dry land and he's the only thing they see. its not super flashy and is usually very quiet up until when they yk. collapse

OTHER RELATIONS

the lukas family! milos father was one of the few lukas' that rejected the lonely and left, in an attempt to keep his children away from the lonely/the fears in general. however he sadly was unsuccessful.

Tim Stoker!! milo had a fwb situation with tim up until his death, the two had fallen for each other but never got the chance to say it, and with tim being so volatile in s3, when he learned that milo was an avatar they had a huge fight

Michael (distortion)! the two are.. i dont want to say friends but milo is very colorblind and that takes away so much of what makes the distortion scary so hes not very afraid of it, which it is fascinated by.

hes also got some history with @itschesshire 's ocs bastian and silas :))))

Gertrude Robinson. she pretty quickly found him out and they had a deal of sorts. they left each other alone and he wrote a statement (which jon later finds) as a sort of failsafe if he ended up being a problem for gertrude

and the insecurities/delusions thing? yeah exactly what you said. a lot of his insecurities are insane too tbh like "I can never be what everyone desires" but then he loses it if he's NOT what someone desires, Gortash saying smth along the lines of "I like women too" would be enough to make him walk off a ledge because he can't be that part (smth smth I can be most perfect man on the planes but I'll never be a woman. funnier when u know he could use incubus illusion magic but he refused to his whole life). Alex got hired at the 141 PI office six months ago. He basically acted as the secretary; answering calls and emails, filing reports, booking appointments and generally keeping the place up in running. He had quickly learned that coffee was a sin against nature at the office, and learned to make a mean Tea if necessary.

Laswell and Price ran the place, and were pretty chill overall. Under them was a man that went by 'Ghost' who spoke all of 6 words a day. People avoided him like the plague, when possible. Then there was Soap, Gaz below him. Finally Alejandro, Rodolfo, Nikolai, Farrah and Alex below them.

Unbeknownst to both Alex and Ghost... was the whole office was watching Ghost fail miserably at flirting, and enjoying every second of it. They had an internal group email to gossip about it.

Internal Note: To: Ghost-Busting From: Laswell Ghost just came in to ask who the 'short little twat' at the desk was. Apparently Alex wouldnt let him in until he swiped his badge. Man is PISSED. I told him that 'twat' was doing his job. He left bitching about needing badges being a waste of time. Sent Alex a message, telling him good job.

oh my gosh well im not really a discord person, but for a minute there I participated in a temporary one for a hoffstrahm event, and it was WILD how many people in there recognized the fics i wrote & said it affected them in some way

wayyy more than the 6 or so comments at the time would have led me to believe

people telling me that MY?????????? characterization??? is their FAVORITE????????????????? hello???

the things people said about Curiosity to me in private launched it from something i was writing casually to something i decided to take much more seriously, because wow, people are out there and they actually seem to kind of care about the little world im building with it.

also goodness gracious turns out a lot of people are aware of "the glory hole fic" (despite my best efforts to convince other hoffstrahm writers to make more, i am still the sole writer for that trope in this ship)

just... wild. absolutely wild haha

soapbox moment:

YALL!!! im not yelling at my readers specifically, just fic-enjoyers in general, but this is why you people need to comment on fics more!!! in general, in any fandom!! Kudos are very nice but after spending weeks on a fic, humming and hawwing over moments, hoping people catch the subtle clues and foreshadowing, and then..... pretty much silence. maybe 5% of those readers will tell you what their favorite part was, if you're lucky. and you pray that at least half of those kudo-givers come back when the next chapter is ready.

Whole ass art was made inspired by one of my fics and its been months & im still riding that high?? Fic writers- not just me, ALL of them- typically go completely thankless in comparison to artists and other fandom creators, and yet how many of you remember fics that stayed with you for years?? i know i do. and how many only had, like, a dozen comments??

big comments are absolutely not necessary. but even just 1 saying that they loved the fic/thought it was hot/cant wait for more FUELS writers like theres no tomorrow

linda as a therapist for literally everyone in the show is pretty flawed. yes, she can give perspective on supernatural matters but even her friends outside of the know (ella) go to her when they need the advice of a therapist. feel free to correct me on this but with my vague memory I at least know its highly unprofessional to take on a patient (fully booked and everything I presume) who you know personally or even just, has a impression in your life. as this can very much effect how you treat them and the help you give to them even if you don't mean it too.

lucifer being linda's paitent was obviously highly unethical at the start but eventually they develop into a more professional-friend kind. where still, it is unethical as eventually linda DOES fall into a relationship with lucifer's brother. who was an antagonist of sorts during at least season 1's sessions.

at some point i'd think between seasons 2-3 she starts writing the book about lucifer's therapy sessions and his life, given the book was on its completed first draft and we are shown it at least half way through at some point. and, if you dont know, writing a whole book (especially as long as linda's) takes a LONG time.

meaning, at any point in that time linda could've stepped back and thought: 'this is highly unethical and maybe I should at least get the permission of everyone who im using their private therapy sessions.' its a very simple yet, it couldve changed the whole direction of the book from being the simplified cliches of everyone to more realistic versions of the people.

linda takes advantage of lucifer while doing this, really, as when lucifer finds out about this book, he is thrilled. he is excited because it will be the first book to ever have an accurate representation of him.

And I think later, when everyone reads the book and finds out the contents are a really bad fanfiction of their lives, Lucifer is a bit disappointed. I mean, its supposed to be the first book to portray him in a light most accurate to him, and the book doesn't even end up doing that!

I also want to add that everyone gets mad at lucifer because of their portrayals in the book. When, in fact, they should've at least placed part of the blame on linda, the person who wrote the book. instead of taking literally every word of it to heart. (this post goes into it in more detail!)

Lucifer is, at times (a lot of the time), an unreliable narrator. Because he is made to always tell the truth, something that could be world-ending for Earth might not be important at all to him because x reason etc etc.

(example: the whole mira/rory thing - it didn't occur to him to mention to chloe that this supposed child of him is half angel because that genuinely wasnt important to him and didn't seem relevant to the occasion. chloe then gets pissy at him for this so the more you know)

I'm gonna say something that's pretty obvious but needs to be said: linda is not the group's therapist. of course, she is lucifer's highly unethical therapist. but she is not everyone elses. no one else is shown to have regular one on one sessions with her. apart from maybe ella & maze a couple times and the others are super rare.

her knowing and giving this guidance to her friends is really that. an act of their friendship that they trusted her to give good advice on how to deal with their obviously very stressful and traumatic lives.

then for her to turn around and write it into a book (probably turned book series given how long its said to be) which will be accessed but not only the general public, but also people outside of the know that close to them. like chloe's mother, ella's family, dan's parents etc etc.

that is a horrible thing. even if their families don't read the book, other people will.

imagine ella's distant cousin reads the books after it becomes popular for some reason, connects the dots. then suddenly ella's family are asking if she really had a serial killer for a boyfriend and can imagine the way a person dies perfectly from just seeing the scene and and and

dan is also very dead. at least legally dead. will dan's parents be contacted before the publishing of the book to ask for permission? probably not.

- (it would be funny to think if this is the downfall of the book. dan's parents suing this random stranger who claims to be their dead son's therapist for writing him in a book that hugely slanders and makes fun of him)

this will also affect their professional lives. all of sudden everyone they ever meet will have readily accessible detailed accounts of their lives for the past 5 years, their traumas, their ambitions everything about them at the fingertips of coworkers, employers, bosses, whatever.

even just a snippet of the book (it will most likely gain popularity with lucifer's reputation + the fact more that 50% of the cast for it will be cops) would be very insightful towards the point of view and personal information of everyone involved.

its a breach of privacy, a betrayal of trust and a destroyer to any lives the main cast could possibly lead after the publication. the storyline and concept sucks.

OH MAN YEAH ok general warning for medical experimentation and things along that line

im literally going to start at the beginning with this SO:

bruce is the one who reached out to the facility to help develop the program, so he's the reason the mer people are as 'in contact' with the humans as they are (humans KNOW about mer people theyre not any sort of secret they just dont interact a whole bunch). its a bit of a mutualistic thing--the mer people can be studied and help develop humans understanding of their biology and culture and stuff--as well as they will help bring things from the ocean sometimes. they also get medical care for things they may not have been able to deal with by themselves (and they get medicine too, but they didnt really know that stuff existed so that was just a plus)

anyway so when they reach out jasons still a kid--so the og mer people who were at the facility are bruce, dick, jason, harley, and tim. damian, cassie and bart all come in later.

so with the biological testing its mainly the joker (his names john in this but i literally cant take it seriously w either name im sorry) running things as hes like the head of the department, and hasnt been outed as a bad person yet. kory works with them too, but she spends more times at the tank doing monitoring rather than hands on examinations. examinations mainly consist of xrays and stuff to see what their bone structures are like, organ placement, etc etc.

^with this, because they are technically people they withhold rights to a degree (i mean they cant vote or anything but like. they have basic human rights in terms of their bodies) so they are NOT allowed to conduct invasive procedures or harmful experiments to them

however after a point joker is basically like yeah ive gathered everything i can from non invasive tests lets cut one open (also note he has absolutely no regards for their customs or culture so that is also a big point of trauma for jason)

he picks jason because hes like ~12/13 when he decides to take someone, and he wanted someone who wouldve been closer to human puberty bc he wanted to see if mer ppl had it/how it effects them. tim wouldve been too young, and dick too old--and bruce wouldve probably ripped his throat out if he tried on him LOL

so during the time jasons effectively kidnapped (also does need to be noted that jason does have a tendency to wander off--he likes to explore, so for a while no ones really worried, until they very much are) he is kept in something closer to an observation tank that doesnt lead back to the ocean (all the tanks in the facility lead directly back to the ocean--they do not keep them there against their will. an observation tanks true usage would be more for someone waiting to go BACK to the main tanks after say getting and xray or something) so hes trapped in the tank for the duration of him being there.

the joker keeps him for a couple years--and at that point the other mer people assume hes dead. (hes not found bc the joker keeps him in his private lab so hes the only one authorized to go back there--people arent aware of whats happening to jason) joker keeps him drugged up most the time so jasons not really There for most of it. anyway. without going into too much horrible detail about it during the time--hes vivisected (Y chest scar) and joker basically like. rummages around through his organs and stuff and examines everything. hes cut open a couple times because joker cant get through everything in one day so. he also cuts his tail and some other areas open just to see how the mer people differ biologically.

only reason that hes found (by ivy--everyone say thank you ivy) is because she needed something from joker and snagged his keycard to get into his lab (this is pretty common in the facility--people borrow from private labs and they generally just grab the keycard from their desk if they even need it. private labs are often kept open) and went in and found jason in the tank (hes roughly 15/16 at this point) and immediately calls kory to see if she had any idea what was happening and she doesnt--kory shows up and a few mins later joker shows up and is furious about it, but the jigs kinda up now. they forcibly take jason back to korys lab where they can patch him up and stuff. they have to replace all the stitches because theyre not well done at all (joker was only stitching him up to like. hold him back together not really to heal the wounds)

(in more a step towards joker and harleys story hes reported to the board--and he is no longer allowed to work on the biological side of things. everyone else who finds out/knows about what he did are angry because theyre not getting rid of him because he, according to the board, was "too good" to fire. they also gave some sort of excuse as keeping him around meant keeping an eye on him so that he couldnt do it to anyone else--but again thats more towards harleys story rather than jasons)

kory and ivy get jason all fixed up and stick him in korys observation tank until the drugs wear off (they didnt want him to have access to the open ocean when he wasnt all there because he could get hurt Worse and they wouldnt be able to reach him)

unfortunately they DO have to give him more drugs (pain meds) but its different stuff than what the joker was using--again whole deal w that is joker was doing it all to keep him sedated and available for testing whereas kory and ivy are trying to heal him and stuff.

kory is the one who tells dick and everyone that jasons alive, and no one really reacts well because its been a while at this point and theyre all trying to move on.

eventually jason gets brought back to the main tank and he automatically goes to dick (jason blames bruce for everything that happened because hes the one that reached out to the facility and lead to jason being taken and experimented upon--and tims like. still a kid and he was always closer to dick anyway) and everyones kinda staring at him all horrified because hes still seeping blood into the water and hes still not really properly looked at himself but everyones just glad hes at least like. alive.

later when hes w dick he does have a bit of a massive breakdown when he finally kinda surface level processes whats been done to him--hes angry and scared and hes still a little kid and like. there is absolutely not going back and his organs still havent shifted back to where they should be quite right so he feels weird and theres obviously the incredible amount of pain hes dealing with. his hair does turn white w the shock/trauma of everything too !! thats where that crops up. when he sees it he tries to cut it all off because he hates it but it just grows back white so the white area of his hair is a bit shorter than the rest of his hair :)

he has to continue getting pain medicine/antibiotics/etc but once his head cleared up enough to think hes absolutely rabid around humans he has no trust for them at all anymore and he refuses to let them (or really anyone for that matter) touch him so its a shot in the dark to whether hes gonna be out of his mind enough with pain that they get can the stuff into him or not

he heals over time and hes got nasty scars from it but otherwise is physically alright--he does distance from dick and everyone else a Lot though (and still blames most of it on bruce) and is often out in the ocean doing things--he doesnt often return to the facility except when absolutely needed

he IS eventually forced to go to a therapy thing of sorts with harley but he just sits and refuses to talk the whole time (after he meets roy he will occasionally talk about roy and everyones very curious about this dude that jason apparently Regularly Talks to bc he is the most antisocial person Ever)

hes still a good person tho like he just hates people touching him (roy and VERY rarely kory are an exception. sometimes his brothers but thats a shot in the dark) and interacting with him but hes still wildly curious about the human world and the people that live in it he just wants to learn about it all from very very far away.

so thats all pre kon and clark thats effectively the gist of his backstory--moving onto his actual story during the au -

(jason doesnt show up loads in the main storyline with kon and the rest of them, but me and emmy have a decent amount of stuff in his own offshoot--a lot of which actually includes roy lmao)

jasons a big collector when he travels--hes got this waterproof bag he asked dick to ask kory for and he collects shells and rocks and pearls and stuff like that that he thinks are interesting off the ocean floor and stuff, and he DOES like to show it all off because he thinks what he does is cool and he likes when people get excited over something he found but he hardly ever shows anyone because hes also worried that theyre gonna take it and the stuff is His

the stuff w roy comes mostly from emmy bc shes the one who knows most about him so if hes mischaracterized at all u cant blame me (also this bit is particularly scattered so i will try my best to timeline it as i can)--

roys a volunteer at something or other organization and he picks up trash along the coastline and stuff--jason shows up and sees him one day and roy sees him but doesnt say anything--jasons the one who eventually talks to him first. directly qoute from our chats from emmy:

'Jason giving him a hard time about being a do gooder and being pessimistic about people not ever actually caring about the ocean even though people live in it ,,, I bet roy travels along the beach looking for wrappers and cans and just talks and Jason makes fun of him and Roy's like ,, buddy you've been swimming along with me for like 30 mins you must love hanging out <3 and jason gets all huffy and he's like no I'm just MESSING with you stupid idiot and he kind of swims off and Roy keeps walking and after like 5 mins Jason like throws a beer bottle or something in front of Roy that he found in the sand under the water and Roy's like thanks and Jason's like ,, thanks'

like previously mentioned roys one of the only ppl allowed to touch jason--more because he doesnt know anything about what happened to him (he can obviously see the scars but at that point has no context and jason wants to keep it that way because he treats him normal) first time it happens is actually at some point when roy visits the facility and theyre all just kinda touching and roy touches jasons shoulder as an off hand like pat/whatever and everyone kinda freezes because thats like rule #1 you dont even try to touch him or hell probably bite you and he just sits and lets roy touch him and now EVERYONES got something to think about bc whats so important about THIS guy

heres two other quotes idk how to naturally work into this:

'i just keep thinking about it jason being an asshole per usual but roy is allowed to grt away w stuff and jason still maintaining that hes prickly and mean so that roy doesnt know that the thing jason lets him do mean anything'

'i think part of the appeal for jason is knowing that like. roy doesnt have to be weird abt it bc he didnt know (about jasons aversion to others touching him) so jason doesnt have to be weird and be like yes ur allowed to touch me he just lets it happen and like they never really say anything about it'

roys the person jason talks to the most but its always about stupid stuff and nothing like important or anything.

Jason and Roy's like man's you know you can hand me things ,, and Jason like this is easier stupid and Roy's like okay but if you kill me you go to human jail and Jason thinks it's funny but after like 20 mins of walking Roy's hears Jason like ",, well here" and sees him holding some of those plastic can holder things and roys like thanks dude and tried to grab them and Jason kinda flinches and he's just kinda waits for Jason to reach back over before he goes the grab them again and he has to step into the water a little to get them from Jason he's wearing those stupid rubber boots bc Jason kept splashing him one day and soaked his sneakers so now he wears boots

no bc i bet jason was being silly he was splashing roy and stuff bc maybe he was having a bad day and jasons trying to do his own method of cheering up it only resulted in roy getting soaked and wearing boots now lol

also i like to think that jason is like. extremely touch starved. but he doesn't want people touching him but he wants to be able to touch other people and roy will let him do that lets jason like grab his wrist or whatever and he wont try to grab or touch back

I LOOOVE the touching thing tho bc like Roy is such a safe option he has nooo idea what it's like he has no idea who Jason is or what happened and more importantly he doesn't know how like idk the word how isolated and quiet and distant Jason has become bc he doesn't know Jason from before and doesn't know anything about him jason has the opportunity to like start over and not be cold to one singular person he has no baggage nothing to uphold he could be a blank skate to this weird guy I love him

most the humans who have mer friends also carry around little towels for them to dry their hands if theres something they wanna touch that cant get wet/the person doesnt want them getting it wet--roy carries around little washcloths in his back pocket

jason also likes to give roy stuff from his ocean adventures and stuff i think ive mentioned that before possibly but i dont remember where?? i cant find it so: jason likes to give roy pearls and stuff that he finds and other stuff and neither of them really have any idea of how valuable some of the stuff is but roy keeps it because its something from jason and he thinks its cool

heres one last silly thing:

jason stealing roys hat and plonking it on his own head and its a bit big and roy says he looks dumb and jasons like im gonna take this to my home and roys like nO GIVE IT BACK JASON and hes splashing into the water and jasons slipping back before roy can catch him except roy just fuckin goes for it and lunges at jason and jason like shrieks and roy is SOAKINF WET BUT HE GOT HIS HAT BACK and hes like kneeling in the water all dripping wet and jasons a few feet away all tucked in on himself and watching roy bc he got too close
