König Reaction to You Having a Stomach Bulge
Tumblr media
Warnings: 18+, Non-Explicit Descriptions of Smut, Pretty Much what it says in the Title, No Pronouns used for Reader except ‘You’.
F E R A L
König's a possessive guy, so to see you completely vulnerable, at his mercy, with himself being barely capable of fitting inside you, has his brain firing on all cylinders.
Definitely comments on it, panting:
"So...small– so– tight,"
That's actually how you got Maus as your nickname. Because, compared to König, he thought you were tiny. And this just proves his point.
It validates him, in his own way. The fact that he's this big swells his ego beyond measure.
König's also a bit sadistic, so if you start crying because it's too painful–
Man is GONE
Say goodbye to your ability to see straight tomorrow.
You're not going to be able to leave the bed by the time König's done with you.
That's what you get for inadvertently inflating his ego.
He also degrades you.
A lot.
"Can't even take all of me and yet you beg for more. Tch. Pathetic."
He makes it up to you afterwards, though ;)
Because he loves you <333

masterpost pt 2 of alhaitham being endeared by kaveh im so sick
- a parade of providence
not too much in this one because the heart of this event is their miscommunication so as a result they either are misunderstanding each other, running into deserts and passing out (kaveh) and then being reproached for this offscreen by a concerned party (also kaveh) and then misconstruing this concern and feeling disrespected (surprise it’s also kaveh), so overall their exchanges are rather angsty
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alhaitham genuinely being sincerely happy for and proud of kaveh, mentioning how kaveh is an anomaly in comparison to other idealists who may not stand up for their views when it truly matters, knowing that kaveh is a staunch defender of his idealism even knowing its faults and that kaveh thinks Alhaitham inherently opposes his ideals due to them being opposites, only to inadvertently insult him within the same breath
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whatever the hell this is (aka alhaitham “never caring to accept thanks from others or keeping track of favours” being endeared by his roommate and insisting he be thanked thrice, this man can’t be normal)

[MASTERPOST]
Someone is catching feeliiiings!
I'd make a joke like "there is nothing hotter to an independent woman than a man telling her to get OUT of the kitchen" shdhdbdb but when you put it like "he showed her he cares about her enough to do something nice for her while inadvertently communicating that he doesn't intend to enforce the gender roles she grew to resent"... it makes sense why it would click for her right then and there.
Also thank goodness Angel Dust is not there bc he'd definitely point out that "master baker" sounds a whole lot like... Well-

A hobby that seems so typical of Monsoon
Tumblr media
I could name a few, actually, that I feel would best suit his... stature, as well as his personality, or... the fragment of it which is present within Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, of which is already quite transparent. But, for the sake of sustainability, and because I may end up creating a masterpost soon enough, here are a select few that come to mind when I see him.
Tumblr media
"Rain-bathing," or willingly soaking himself during a torrential rain / flood:
Given Monsoon's moniker / namesake, as well as his somewhat naturalistic views upon life in its entirety—the ideology that nature will simply run its course, and the strong will prosper off of the weak's own negligence—I find it's only fitting that he finds himself otherwise taken, perhaps 'seduced,' by rainfall. As evident by his words, "Come to me, rain, wash it all away..." Perhaps viewing it—rain, and by default, nature in its entirety—as one of the only things in existence that could be above him, above his coworkers / consorts, upon such a... naturalistic 'food chain,' as it were. To Monsoon, such is simply his natural environment; he simply will not thrive if he presently isn't being waterboarded by a flood, and I feel he likely would actively seek excuses to stow away from any sort of venue, particularly if it takes place indoors. I believe a similar sentiment is shared in regards to the Japanese garden that is present within World Marshal; if not unfettered, unfiltered nature by itself, then a mere reflection of it shall suffice, no matter how tacky it may be.
Tumblr media
Sparring, both enemy & consort:
I find that, outside of his almost eloquent manner of speaking, and his androgynous appearance which may suggest otherwise—when he's in the mood for it—he is a very rough-and-tumble type of man, of which was very apparent during his fight with Raiden / Jack the Ripper. Having appeared almost too eager to... 'sink his teeth in,' in a way, also evident by how fervent he was to taunt Raiden during their initial battle. Even within the contents of the base game's Jetstream DLC—while Monsoon appeared to exercise restraint around Sam, likely knowing that his boss would want to deal with him later on—even verbally, he garners this kind of teasing demeanor about him that is rather difficult to miss. As though he were itching, perhaps aching, to find a reason to fight Sam, but knew better than to 'jump the gun' at that very moment. Likely viewing Sam as an asset, rather than a piece of meat. Though, after that entire debacle—given, if the Winds of Destruction don't simply interact with each other as a means of performance, and rather, interact with one another out of genuine interest than hidden contempt—I do believe in the likelihood that Monsoon sparred with several of his consorts, probably more frequently, over no particular period of time, as they gradually became more accustomed to one another's presence. Likely viewing battle as one of his only means of expressing his emotions—contempt, anger, interest, so on and so forth—given how such a means of violence was simply something he'd grown up with; forcibly removed from any sort of prior security he once knew, only to find comfort within such violence. Or, rather, the illusion of it. However, with those he may view as an enemy, he may believe that no restraint is needed, and that it's free game. Not that Monsoon seems like the type to, again, 'jump the gun,' were one of his own allies to inadvertently displease or disgruntle him, given how casually he and Armstrong appear to converse with each other within the Japanese garden. Even feeling so bold as to openly disagree with him, perhaps feeling more comfortable with the established security that he was on the Senator's 'good side.' One core testament as to how his humanity is portrayed within the game.
Tumblr media
Writing / performing oratory speeches, conversing:
As evident by his encounter with Raiden, joined by the very brief phone call he has with Sam in the base game's Jetstream DLC, it feels almost ignorant to believe that Monsoon would be anything but an oratory and literary genius, of sorts. Even with the very distinct flaws within his own ideology, Monsoon's confidence within his own belief appears to be unwavering, intact, even when faced with certain death; towards which he may interact with utter terror, entirely dependent upon how Raiden goes about fighting him. We've all heard it, and we all know one thing for certain; Monsoon's 'meme' speech is a cultural landmark, and its relevancy—alongside that of Armstrong's own speech—remains unwavering, and will likely retain its relevancy until time itself collapses. Even outside of its core and subliminal messages, how Monsoon himself likely intended for Raiden to have taken it, it's rather obvious that the man has a talent for speech, or, at the very least, stringing words together on paper. To the extent where I truthfully would not be shocked if Monsoon wrote his own speeches, or, rather, wrote speeches for others to perform on their own behalf. And, given Armstrong's admission of, "[not] writing [his] own speeches" during his battle with Raiden near the climax of the game, I wouldn't be surprised if Monsoon had even a tinge of involvement in crafting it. If not him, then likely some poor bastard in the PR department. (Given, if Monsoon himself isn't already part of that department, anyways.) Even outside the realm of professionalism for a moment, I simply find that Monsoon—with all of his quirks and his flaws—can't resist the temptation to simply speak, and let his mind be known. Even if those around him may not necessarily know what to say in response to his words, perhaps the reassurance that some people—some against their own will—are actually hearing him out, after what may have been decades of Monsoon feeling... 'trapped in his own head,' so to speak, bestows upon him a twisted feeling of reassurance he likely hasn't known for a very long time. Not to say that Monsoon was never outspoken about his own beliefs. That, and I believe that he might just enjoy talking down upon others, as evident with the in-game implication that he and Sam 'shit-talked' about Raiden prior to his arrival in Denver. Haters gotta hate, I suppose.
Tumblr media
This is—for the most part—the gist of it, since the rest of my presumptions / assumptions of what I would believe to be Monsoon's hobbies may begin dipping into headcanon territory. But these are the primary few which I believe best align with the image of Monsoon we're given within the game, or the image of him we're meant to perceive, from the very little screentime he is bestowed.
But worry not! Eventually I'll make a masterpost, as mentioned above, so hopefully there will be more Monsoon to come in the near future. ^_^ So thank you, again, to @miz-orque for this ask, I'm having quite a blast answering these.

Could I get a Fluffy Alphabet letter I for Ghost if it’s not already taken?
(i love all of your fics! tysm for all of your hard work ❤️)
I ➸ I Love You - Do they say it a lot? Did they say it first?
Tumblr media
I feel like Simon is one of those people who places a lot of value on the word "love", and he has to ease into saying it to his partner. Growing up, it's not something he was told often- if at all- and I feel like he's inadvertently led to him subconsciously feeling like being told "I love you" is something that needs to be earned. Except, he has no idea where the threshold lies where telling you he loves you is acceptable
So, yes, you are definitely telling him first. It almost catches him off guard when you first do it, and, please forgive him, he might come off as a bit stand-offish because of it. He just short circuits a little, responding with a "Yeah."
It almost looks like he doesn't care, or like he didn't want to hear you say that. I promise you the opposite is very much the case. He just overthinks it a little, but from there on out, he will ease into saying it. On his own initiative, he will still say it rather sparingly, but he'll always mumble a "Love ya too" in response to you. Just give him some time to ease into being affectionate and he will come out of his shell.

okay you know what. personic au. buckle in cause i put too much thought into this.
we obviously follow our protagonist, Sonic the Hedgehog, who is now in what is essentially a high school au. he is now transferring to Angel Island High, and quickly meets and befriends Miles "Tails" Prower, leader of the school's robotics team. There's been a rash of fevers around campus, incidentally enough, and an equally-concerning rash of comas, the most recent one being Tails's fellow robotics team member, Gemerl. Eventually, Sonic begins to suspect that something metaphysical is happening...
So Sonic arrives to the Velvet Room, where he meets with Chip, the host of the room, and Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts. While they are normally in the corner, singing along to Coconuts's piano-playing, they also help Sonic out with the Compendium, fusion, and skill extraction, respectively. Sonic, meanwhile, has already awakened to his Persona, Idaten. What's important is that they've already met, and Sonic needs confirmation that the strange "bug" around campus is metaphysical in nature.
It is. Apparently, the people who have been getting sick have had their Shadows removed, like, surgically removed from them. And, according to Chip, Sonic's had his Shadow removed, like... Twice. Sonic feels perfectly fine, however, and summons his Persona, so he shouldn't HAVE a Shadow to begin with. With this essentially going nowhere, Sonic leaves the Velvet Room, only to learn that, according to Amy Rose, Sonic was already there and had previously collected Tails.
Tracking down this strange imposter, the trail eventually stops dead cold. Sonic then enters the Reverie Zone, inadvertently bringing with him Amy (who followed him this whole way). There, he and Amy slowly make their way through the Deep Forest Zone. On the way, somehow, Amy gains a mallet. Eventually, they find their way to the bottom of the area, where Tails is confusedly being held captive by Shadow Sonic. A battle ensues, obviously, and eventually Sonic fights Shadow Sonic to a standstill. Shadow Sonic begins to sorta melt into a stronger form, and Sonic, Tails, and Amy all escape out of the Deep Forest Zone.
Sonic eventually just sorta explains what metaphysics are, and it's strangely coherent, but it goes mostly over Tails's head. Amy gets it, though, cause she loves mysticism like this. (Later, Tails will find a published study by a "Dr. I. Robotnik". This is a surprise tool that will help us later.)
Anyways, Sonic eventually goes back into the Deep Forest Zone, with Tails and Amy, wherein they eventually awaken their Personas, Hephaestus (Magician) and Eurydice (Lovers). Together, they're able to actually defeat Shadow Sonic, who sorta morphs into this weird giant lizard thing before collapsing into Shadow Sonic once more. Sonic eventually goes like "Hey, this is really weird. You should be your own person cause, y'know, my original Shadow is now Idaten. What's up with you?" Naturally, Shadow Sonic freaks out over this identity crisis and flees. Deep Forest Zone sorta begins to implode without Shadow Sonic there, so that forces a retreat.
Two people are watching them exit the Reverie Zone: A mysterious classmate of theirs, who immediately calls up his cousin - he has a lead. The other... Well...
I've decided this is part 1. I'll make a masterpost for the AU, so stay tuned! ;)

canon divergent masterpost .
Although I mention a few points in my rules, and in their biographies, I wanted to make a post that specifically points out all major parts of my Jin that diverges from canon. Anywhere from characterization to events that transpired.
● Devil is not Jin's alter ego. He is another, completely different person. He and Jin are two souls in one physical body. [This may be something that's more unclear in canon, but this blog strictly depicts Devil as an unique individual]
● Devil has a true name that was given to him at conception by Azazel. This name is Abaddon. Which is Hebrew for destruction, It matches Azazel's intentions for Devil, which was to punish mankind and cause destruction amongst the world. Nobody else, besides Azazel and other devils, are aware of Abaddon's name unless he told them in threads.
● Jin & Devil have known each other since essentially birth, as they were both born at the same time. Devil is not an extension of Kazuya's devil. He is not his other half, he has never been with Kazuya, nor did he later possess Jin as a teenager. Devil has been with Jin since the very beginning of both their lives. Although Devil hadn't ' awakened ' until Heihachi killed Jin, Devil would sometimes appear in Jin's dreams during his childhood & up until his teen years. Thus, Jin had technically known Devil since they were children, but assumed he was an odd, specific reoccurring dream until his death awakened Devil from his slumber. [Just like in canon, devils can only awaken within the host after they endure a (near) death experience. However, on this blog, Devil has always been present, just in the back of the subconscious]
● Devil was never ' protecting ' Jin. Pre-Tekken 8, there may have been instances where Devil had protected Jin either inadvertently or intentionally, but it was never his priority nor the reason of his existence. Pre-Tekken 8 / Pre-Purified Devil was horrible to Jin, and downright traumatized him on several occasions. Whilst Devil liked Jin, he saw Jin as inferior, and treated him more as a possession (object or pet) than as an actual person. Prior Tekken 8, Devil and Jin were almost constantly fighting each other for control of the body. He was not a guardian devil, and would always pick himself over Jin.
● The Devil Gene was never a good / beneficial thing that Jin had to just ' accept ' . No, Devil was always meant to be a malevolent force that was to punish mankind. Jin was merely a host so that Devil can carry out his purpose.
● Jin is autistic. His neurodivergence is primarily why he's a ' stoic ' , simply because Jin struggles to express his own emotions. He feels deeper than his face lets on. Jin will also struggle to read other people's emotions, too. Ironically, he has an easier time reading those who are more exaggerate in their emotions.
● Devil is responsible for the war, not Jin. Devil began to grow stronger within Jin during the 5th tournament, which was Jin's reason for joining the 5th tournament - to stop Devil from consuming him completely. Ultimately, Jin failed and Devil took over the body. Believing he had ' killed ' Jin within, Devil took on Jin's appearance and identity when acquiring the Zaibatsu to gain trust among humanity, as a means to have a proper army. Devil's motivations solely were to awaken Azazel, take its power, and take over the world for his own. Any excuse of saving the world from something that will destroy it is simply a lie to gain trust and nothing more. This failed when it turned out Jin actually wasn't dead, and was able to take back the body right before Azazel's emergence out of its tomb. Because of this, Jin does not remember anything during the war, nor the people involved. (He didn't even know who Lars was until meeting him in the Middle East)
● As stated, Devil was never good. Therefore, when Jin confronted him in his mindscape during his visit in Yakushima, Devil didn't turn out to be good when Jin learned to ' accept ' the Devil gene and his ' past ' . It was another struggle for control of the body. However, Jin decided fighting wasn't going to work, and instead decided to try to save Devil's soul with the newfound power he felt deep within. This power was the power of purification that the Kazamas possess. Jin managed to successfully purify Devil, and eradicate every influence or intention Azazel had planted into Devil at conception.
● Jin always had the power of purification as the Kazamas seem to often possess. It was awakening during the 8th tournament, another reason why Jin couldn't control the devil powers anymore. Jun simply amplified his powers so that he may be strong enough to reach Angel form, with addition to Devil's help.
● Angel Jin isn't just Jin, but instead a fusion between both Jin & Devil and will have a mix of their personality traits. Angel Jin himself feels like both Jin & Devil, but also feels as if he's his own person. It's a confusing but intriguing existence for him.
● Jin still has the devil gene / Devil isn't dead. Devil didn't die during the struggle with Kazuya at the end of T8. It nearly killed him, but didn't quite. Devil was in a ' comatose ' state for weeks after the battle, but eventually resurfaced, albeit in a weaker condition. Because he's been weakened, Devil cannot give his powers to Jin. Devil is also less likely to be in control as much as he's still in a recovering state. The reason for this is because Devil has always been a primary muse on this blog and I wanted to continue writing him, and because I simply do not think Jin is free of the devil gene for a couple reasons. (Still has the mark on his arm, and was still talking to somebody in the end that clearly wasn't his mother, and nobody else was around)
● Whilst Jin accepts that Devil will always be with him, and they are much friendlier with each other / living together in peace, they're not exactly close buddies. Devil had caused a lot of trauma. To both Jin, and the entire world. It's something that isn't easily forgotten nor forgiven. They will always have a strain in their relationship because of this. Devil wishes Jin will someday view him as a close friend, but Jin doesn't see that happening in the near future.
Things that diverges from popular fanon. There are a few popular fanon takes that I simply... do not agree with. It's not much, but I'll list them here real quick.
● Yes, Jin is a virgin (by default / outside of ships). But... this doesn't mean he's a sexless guy. Jin is still very much interested in sex. He'll even talk about sex and make innuendos. Jin is not shy when it comes to sex. Sometimes, he can be very open about his sexuality, actually. Jin is a virgin due to his busy life, not because he's disinterested or because he doesn't know what sex is. Come on.
● Jin isn't good at socializing, but he isn't an introvert. Jin actually really likes making friends and deeply cares about them. There are a plethora of reasons why he didn't have many for years. The primary reason being he was scared of getting close to anyone due to the fear of Devil or his family hurting them. Jin thought it was best to push people away as to protect them. Now that Heihachi, Kazuya, and Devil are no longer of concern, Jin is very willing to hang out with his friends and make new ones. Jin also doesn't enjoy attending crowded places because they overwhelm him quickly. Jin sucks at socializing due to his quiet nature, haven't been occupied with hobbies in years, and failing to understand other people's emotions sometimes.
● Jin is a good guy, but he isn't exactly boy scout material either. Jin isn't a completely humble guy who has restraint and doesn't know what sex is and doesn't like breaking da rules. uwu. Sometimes, Jin can even be a punk. He isn't afraid to break laws if he believes they're not actually hurting anyone (see; graffiti, vandalization, illegal street fighting). Jin is quick to disrespect authority figures if he does not think they are deserving of his respect.
● Although Devil can speak in ' growls ' , he's very capable of speech. Other than when he was a kid, Devil can always speak beyond growls. Devil is a highly emotional being, therefore he may resort to growling and screaming should his emotions overwhelm him. But not only can Devil always talk, but he has a silver tongue. Devil may seem feral at times, but the intention of his creation was to manipulate both his host and humanity. He needs to be capable of proper speech to do that! That also being said, despite often seeming feral, Devil can be both domesticated & sophisticated. The latter being that he has a taste in expensive suits & material objects.
● Jin isn't as passionate about his rivalry with Hwoarang. He doesn't get as fired up or angry around Hwoarang as Hwoarang may to him. Jin actually sees Hwoarang as a friend, and won't deny it. This, of course, may differ with Hwoarang blogs. But it's generally how Jin feels.
This post is subject to change.

PROJECT HALF-A IR 1
Government Experiment AU where the Dan's (Dan/Danny/Dani) are created in a GIW lab to investigate the Ghost Zone after Jack and Maddie create the Ghost Portal. In this AU the GZ is radioactive and slowly kills any humans who venture inside so the GIW decide to create human ghost hybrids in order to further their research and capture additional subjects for their experiments. Masterpost. GHOST PORTAL INCIDENT REPORT 00001 Date: 31 DECEMBER 20XX Incident Type: Inaugural Portal Activation Anomaly Personnel Involved: Dr. Masters Research Team Alpha Location: Site-XX, Containment Chamber-XXXX Description: On 31 December 20XX, during the inaugural activation attempt of the Ghost Portal, the Ghost Portal Anomaly, an unexpected incident occurred, resulting in the activation of the portal while Dr. Masters was still within its confines.
Sequence of Events: Dr. Masters, a member of Research Team Alpha, entered the containment chamber for the first planned activation of the Ghost Portal. Unbeknownst to the research team, an oversight in the installation process resulted in the on switch being mistakenly placed within the portal itself. This critical error led to the inadvertent initiation of the portal's activation sequence. The unforeseen activation resulted in a flux of temporal and spatial displacement, continuously transporting Dr. Masters into the Ghost Zone—an alternate dimension accessible through the Ghost Portal- and back to our lab repeatedly while the portal itself was flooded with over 12,000 volts of electricity. Research Team Alpha, unprepared for the immediate activation, scrambled to initiate emergency protocols, shutting off the flow of electricity allowing Dr. Masters to exit the portal. The Ghost Portal remained charged for approximately 10 seconds after its activation. Additional Observations: During the 10-second period following the Ghost Portal's activation, observers reported anomalous phenomena. Dr. Masters appeared to fade in and out of the portal's threshold between our world and the beyond. Throughout this time, he emitted distressing vocalizations, consistent with screams of pain and anguish. Recovery and Containment: Following the cessation of the Ghost Portal's activation sequence the portal became self-sustaining. By shutting off the flow of power required in its initial activation Dr. Masters was able to be extracted from the portal’s threshold. Dr. Masters miraculously survived the incident, he currently remains in critical care under intensive observation. Monitoring his condition may provide valuable insights into the repercussions of exposure to the spectral realm beyond the portal.  Immediate Actions Taken: The Ghost Portal is undergoing a comprehensive assessment of its anomalous properties in order to establish improved safety protocols. Research Team Alpha is undergoing a review of standard operating procedures, with an emphasis on the proper placement of on switches and ensuring the safety of personnel during experiments. A detailed analysis of the incident is ongoing, and a more comprehensive report will be submitted following the completion of the investigation. This inaugural activation incident underscores the unpredictable nature of the Ghost Portal and emphasizes the imperative for rigorous safety measures in all future experiments involving interdimensional anomalies. The anomalous observations during Dr. Masters' exposure provides valuable insights into the potential hazards and effects of interdimensional travel through the Ghost Portal.

summary...
Summit Telon, disgraced bastard son of Marquess Stephen Telon, fell in love with Lady Cherry Lachlan at twenty-one. At twenty-six, with his lover’s wedding fast approaching, he throws his life away and leaves her behind. Fleeing to a tiny, ignored village in the southwest of Calayesin, Summit buries his past and takes up meager work in the village’s only antique shop.
When the highly superstitious and untrusting villagers inadvertently learn of Summit’s history, he is quick to realize their hatred for the Lachlan family and all its companions.
Beaten and left for dead in the woods as an offering to the hated monster within them, Summit doesn't expect to be saved by the monster himself. He certainly doesn't expect them to find love in each other.
Of course, life doesn't exactly care to meet one’s expectations.
the lovers...
• Summit Telon (he/him): A bastard child disowned by his noble father and the woman who raised him. Former paramour of Lady Cherry Lachlan. Always loving and always devoted, even when it hurts.
• Virtue Solace (he/him): A Werewolf living in the woods outside of the Village des Dents de Loup. Big and silent and always feared, no matter how gentle his hands may be.
others...
• Wisteria Journey (she/her): A vampiric Succubus and a collector of friendships.
• Cynthia Monroe (she/her): A human woman and the first beloved friend of Wisteria.

(long) stream-of-consciousness post clarifying one of my own analyses series (b/c I’m rebuilding my masterpost). you are more than welcome to ignore it lol
I feel like (and this is why I dropped the commentary for a bit lmao) there’s gotta be a way to reframe that whole “parentified” Mike series of parallels + commentary I did a bit back into something more akin to “Mike feels that he needs to step into a role more like that of a mentor / older sibling to El to compensate for the fact that 1) Hopper is dead + he feels bad and 2) he is gay + doesn’t love her romantically,” because he is not “parentified” as Jonathan is, and I know that (though he still mirrors the “older brother” role with El that Jonathan has with Will in his self-inflicted over-responsibility).
The ‘shorthand’ I chose (even as I was writing the posts) didn’t seem entirely correct to me, given that I kept looking for words to explain the function of the parallels in the show—and I see how it could be misconstrued as giving Mike Jonathan’s “role” in the narrative, which….they do share a few similarities, but he certainly is not parentified the way Jonathan has been by Joyce (< a great analysis by kaypeace on that phenomenon).
In my understanding, Mike shares similarities to parental / elder sibling figures because (despite the similarity in age between him and Eleven) her lack of socialization & individual experience necessitated someone taking on the “introduce her to the real world” role—something that the narrative “assigned” to Mike the minute they found her in season 1 (Lucas even comments on how he wouldn’t want this role when Mike takes it on, “I wouldn’t want her in my house,” etc).
When I wrote the analyses originally, I used “parentified” to describe how this “mentorship” role has led to a kind of repeated paralleling to other parent-child dynamics in ElMike’s platonic and romantic interactions—aka the way we see
- How El in S4 demands a kind of unconditional love/answers from Mike that doesn’t take into account his feelings, wants or desires as a romantic partner (the way she would look to a parent like Hopper).
- How Mike was taking on a non-age-appropriate burden in his romantic relationship as a result of his character, but at the expense of his independent desires
- How Mike was one in a long line of “male mentor” figures El looked to in order to affirm her identity, and got “caught in the crossfire” of that search/her anger once she realized what she had done inadvertently sending Henry to the UD
- How the reintroduction of Hopper into the narrative for El in S4 leaves Mike free to behave more age appropriately because his over-responsibility/guilt over not being there for El can be somewhat assuaged
- How all of those things combined have Mike in more parallels to actual parents and even an actual parentified sibling (Jonathan)…despite him not being placed in that role the way someone like Jonathan was by Joyce
—among other things. In the moment, I was just looking for a word to describe an ongoing phenomenon in the show of Mike paralleling parental (and parent-coded) figures—perhaps “over-responsible” would have been a better choice, but even that doesn’t encompass how it moves both ways, as Mike tries to mentor as much as El demands it when she feels insecure. Still…Mike is not literally being “parentified” the way Jonathan is/was (or in the most technically accurate sense of the word).
Now, there is language around a parent-child relationship showing up in romances—though that might also be seen as over-explaining what’s going on between Mike & El, because while their relationship does veer codependent at times (because she grew up in a lab / did not enter her romance with a full identity—looking at you “how do I know what I like” + Mike demanding rules + limits on her among other things in S3), El is actively moving out of that and into her own. It’s why we talk about El having an “independence” arc in the first place.
I do also think the removal of Hopper as a character end of S3 (however you feel about him) put a weight on the shoulders of a lot of younger male characters who benefited from him taking on a (literal) “patriarchal” role as Joyce’s primary male reliance (in the case of true Parentified!Jonathan) and El’s dad, but. Mike trying to keep his relationship behaviors functionally platonic (so as to avoid lying while still not admitting he’s gay) while also struggling to let go of his role as one of El’s “introduction to the world” mentors does not mean he’s been pushed into a parental role literally. My lack of specificity for the sake of explaining the phenomena leaves room for conflating though, that it’s hard to undo.
Idk. I just feel like a lack of specific language / my choice of shorthand could be seen as trying to give Mike something that isn’t his place in the narrative (at least if you take the ‘parentified’ as its ‘a child who parental responsibilities are being demanded of’ (Jonathan) and not ‘one being circumstantially put into a role more like a parent / mentor than the romantic partner they are supposed to be’ (Mike)? Which…I mean it just helped me understand in the moment but may have seemed like an overreach given that Mike (if he was more secure) could stop doing what he’s doing in a way Jonathan literally cannot escape. If…that makes sense lmao

Path of Corruption Masterpost
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Forgive the old art, I haven’t had the chance to update this)
The Mafia:
This mob family operates in a unique way, shaped by the fact it emerged as a breakaway faction from a previous mob family, eventually filling the void left by its downfall within the commission. The primary distinctions setting them apart include:
- Unlike traditional mob families, the members of this organization do not exclusively hail from Italian descent. However, Richard, their boss, is, maintaining a link to the organization's roots.
- There is a significant focus lies on their involvement in the casino industry. They utilize these establishments to launder money earned through illicit means, while also offering shady loans to gambling addicts and engaging in other related activities.
-Richard strategically owns an ostensibly normal entertainment company that holds ownership of numerous casinos and resorts locally and nationwide. This arrangement allows the organization to accumulate immense wealth discreetly while maintaining a façade of legitimacy.
- Isaac holds ownership of the most renowned casino property, positioning him at the intersection of legitimate business and mafia affairs. Consequently, his involvement brings him and Keith into contact with Felix and Maddox, creating an unexpected connection between the families.
- Similar to real-life gangs that utilize tattoos or colored bandanas to represent loyalty or affiliation, the gray shirt becomes the symbolic marker of belonging to this mob family. Wearing a gray shirt signifies one's association and involvement in the organization, distinguishing them from outsiders.
Felix Smalls:
At the age of 17, Felix finds himself burdened with the weighty expectations of carrying on his father's legacy as a mob boss. Consequently, he becomes acutely conscious of how others perceive him and feels compelled to assert his authority to appease his father. This self-imposed pressure often leads to him being perceived as rude, bossy, or standoffish by those around him.
Despite his outward demeanor, Felix does harbor genuine concern for those who are close to him, even though he rarely displays it openly. Within their unstable household, he takes on the responsibility of looking after his younger stepbrother, Maddox, to the best of his abilities. However, in his quest to protect and guide Maddox, Felix inadvertently perpetuates the same toxic patterns he witnesses from his father. By excusing his father's abusive behavior while attempting to help Maddox, he unintentionally reinforces the notion that it is his role to "fix" Maddox and find a place for him within the mafia, perpetuating these harmful and dangerous ideas.
Felix is driven by a mixture of loyalty, familial obligation, and a desire to carve out his own identity within the confines of his father's world. While he struggles with the weight of his circumstances, there exists an underlying conflict between his genuine care for those close to him and the unintentional perpetuation of the toxic dynamics within the mafia.
Maddox S. Smalls:
Maddox, a 15-year-old boy and Rose's son, has struggled to fully adapt to the dynamics of his "family" following the marriage of Rose and Richard. His inherent shyness, sensitivity, and physical disability have led to him being labeled as "useless" in the eyes of Richard and Rose. Because of this, Maddox becomes the scapegoat for the family's frustrations, enduring the brunt of the abuse. Consequently, Maddox retreats into solitude, preferring to spend most of his time alone and avoiding any unnecessary attention.
Desperate to prove his worth to his family and seek validation, Maddox finds himself accompanying his older stepbrother Felix on dangerous missions. In doing so, he hopes to demonstrate his capabilities and contribute to the family's business, longing for acceptance and recognition within their ranks.
Despite the emotional and physical hardships he endures, he continues to seek a sense of belonging and strives to overcome the limitations unfairly placed upon him. His joins Felix to break free from the shadow of being the family's scapegoat.
Richard Smalls:
Even those closest to Richard find themselves in the dark regarding his true nature. Ever since the untimely passing of Alexandra, Felix's birth mother, 16 years ago, Richard has withdrawn into a realm of icy detachment, cutting himself off from any genuine emotional connection. To him, the people surrounding him are mere pawns assigned to specific roles, stripped of their individual complexities. Richard's actions and decisions revolve solely around upholding his carefully crafted image and safeguarding his mafia empire. It becomes increasingly apparent that his priorities lie solely in the pursuit of money and power.
Richard's abusive tendencies manifest within his roles as both a husband and father, demanding unwavering obedience and conformity from the Smalls family. He imposes exceptionally high expectations upon his son, Felix, harboring aspirations for him to eventually assume the mantle of boss within their organization. However, this vision of succession comes at a great cost, subjecting Felix to relentless pressure and unrelenting scrutiny.
Richard is a manipulative and authoritarian figure, fixated on control and the preservation of his own dominance. The well-being and autonomy of those around him are secondary concerns, overshadowed by his insatiable thirst for power and a rigid adherence to his self-imposed standards.
Rose Smalls:
Rose, renowned as Richard Smalls' trophy wife, initially gained fame as a prominent model. However, her public persona belies her true nature as a cold and calculated woman who consistently manipulates situations to her advantage. With an utter disregard for anyone but herself, Rose exhibits a cruel streak, frequently venting her anger on those unfortunate enough to be in her proximity.
Rose's self-centeredness has inflicted irreparable harm upon her son, Maddox, depriving him of any semblance of stability in life. Engaging in an extramarital affair with Richard while still married to Jason, Maddox's father, Rose callously shattered Jason's life and tarnished his reputation as a dedicated detective, all in pursuit of her own desires to be with Richard.
Instead of embracing and supporting her son, Rose feels embarrassment over his physical disability and timid personality, subjecting him to belittlement and constant criticism.
Isaac Payne:
Isaac Payne, Richard's unwavering right-hand man and trusted consigliere within the mafia, possesses an outgoing and flamboyant personality that often leads others to underestimate him gravely. With a captivating charm and seemingly friendly demeanor, he expertly conceals his true capabilities, leaving adversaries oblivious to their impending downfall until it's too late. In partnership with his husband Keith, he owns and efficiently manages a casino front, serving as a hub for their clandestine operations.
Driven by his personal experiences, Isaac takes it upon himself to act as a nurturing figure, resembling a caring uncle to Felix and Maddox. Having grown up in a similar environment, he understands the challenges they face and aspires to be a positive role model in their lives, imparting valuable life lessons and guidance. Isaac's genuine concern and commitment to their well-being reveal his underlying compassion and desire to make a meaningful impact.
Keith Payne:
Keith is Isaac's husband and partner in crime. He is the underboss within the mafia organization. His primary responsibility is to facilitate the communication of orders and vital information between Richard and the Capos, ensuring Richard's true identity remains concealed. In cases that demand immediate action, Keith assumes the role of boss, making urgent decisions on behalf of the organization.
Known for his reserved nature, Keith possesses exceptional combat skills, making him a formidable fighter within the ranks.
Jason Scott:
Jason Scott, a former detective, experienced a devastating downfall in his life and reputation when he became dangerously close to uncovering the truth about Richard Smalls. Rose, his ex-wife, engaged in an affair with Richard, which triggered Jason's suspicion regarding Richard's inexplicable wealth. However, before Jason could gather concrete evidence, his car was maliciously tampered with by the mob, leading to a crash that left him physically and emotionally shattered.
When Jason attempted to expose the truth, Richard's skilled lawyers skillfully manipulated public perception, successfully painting Jason as a deranged and disillusioned individual, primarily attributing his claims to the aftermath of the divorce. Consequently, he lost custody of his child, Maddox, further intensifying his determination to establish Richard's guilt and regain custody.
Fueled by a burning desire for justice, Jason fights tirelessly to gather evidence and unravel Richard's intricate web of deception, aiming to expose the truth and secure the custody he rightfully deserves.
Vanessa Davis:
Vanessa Davis, as the lead Agent In Charge in a mafia investigation, is consumed by the desire for personal acclaim as "the one who brought down the mafia.” Her relentless pursuit of acclaim overshadows her dedication to to a greater wellbeing. She mistreats her subordinates, (most notibly exploiting Jason's vulnerable circumstances and manipulating him into an exhausting cycle of overwork) as well as adopting an extreme “ends justify the means” mentality, leading her to often times use disproportionately extreme measures for the crimes committed.
Her behavior stems from a combination of personal ambition, a desire for validation, and a willingness to push ethical boundaries in the name of achieving her objectives.
