✩👑🎶Review:

“A Dance with the Fae Prince” is the best “Married to Magic” book yet!

Inspired by “Cinderella,” “A Dance with the Fae Prince” is told from Katria’s perspective. The daughter of a once prosperous merchant, Katria is forced to occupy the role of her step-family’s servant when her father falls prey to the sea. That is, until the money funding their lavish lifestyle runs out. In a bid to return their estate to it’s former glory, Katria’s step-mother sells her hand in marriage to the mysterious Lord Fenwood—a man that refuses even his new bride the pleasure of seeing his face. Little does she know that her husband is actually Davien Aviness, a fae prince looking for a way to reclaim his throne.

It is important to note that “A Dance with the Fae Prince” is set in the same universe as other “Married to Magic” books. I really enjoyed the complexity of the world Kova created and how it is divided into different parts: the Natural World (inhabited by humans), Midscape (inhabited by elves, fae, vampir, lykin, and mer), and the Great Beyond (inhabited by the dead). Because Davien hails from the fae wilds, the reader gets to fully explore a region that was only touched upon in “A Deal with the Elf King” when he returns to take up his crown. Kova’s imagery is fantastic, detailing how vibrant the fae wilds are in comparison to the Natural World.

Through Katria, we learn of the Boltovs and the Aviness, two families competing for control over the fae. In order to reign over the wilds, an heir of the Aviness bloodline must possess the magic of the old kings, be anointed, wear the crystal crown, and rule from the high court. All of these qualifications contribute to Kova’s worldbuilding and the intrigue surrounding the identity of the true heir, no matter that the obvious hinting took away the element of surprise.

The romance in this novel is subtle and slow to develop, which I personally did not mind, but some may find it underwhelming considering that the book is advertised as having “the right amount of steam.” The few spicy scenes that are present are well-written, but not as impactful as they could have been because of Katria and Davien’s surface level connection. Regardless, I enjoyed how the two started out as enemies and ended as lovers—I truly am a sucker for this trope.

sticky business is a business sim game where you manage your very own sticker shop! the sticker creator is easy to use and, although controls are fairly limited, there are so many cute combinations you can make (my attempt at a bojack horseman sticker is the final image of this post!). after you create some stickers, you print them off on sheets, and then you pack your orders. customers often have storylines that you'll learn more about as you fulfill their requests. oh, did i mention that packing orders is super customizable? you can pick which paper & fillings you use, as well as add candy freebies! this is an adorable detail that i didn't expect, but i am pleasantly surprised. :] details: • available on steam • singleplayer • steam achievements

My timeloop RPG In Stars and Time is done! Which means I can clear all my ISAT gamedev related bookmarks. But I figured I would show them here, in case they can be useful to someone. These range from "useful to write a story/characters/world" to "these are SUPER rpgmaker focused and will help with the terrible math that comes with making a game".

This is what I used to make my RPG game, but it could be useful for writers, game devs of all genres, DMs, artists, what have you. YIPPEE

Writing (Names)

Behind The Name - Why don't you have this bookmarked already. Search for names and their meanings from all over the world!

Medieval Names Archive - Medieval names. Useful. For ME

City and Town Name Generator - Create "fake" names for cities, generated from datasets from any country you desire! I used those for the couple city names in ISAT. I say "fake" in quotes because some of them do end up being actual city names, especially for french generated ones. Don't forget to double check you're not 1. just taking a real city name or 2. using a word that's like, Very Bad, especially if you don't know the country you're taking inspiration from! Don't want to end up with Poopaville, USA

Writing (Words)

Onym - A website full of websites that are full of words. And by that I mean dictionaries, thesauruses, translators, glossaries, ways to mix up words, and way more. HIGHLY recommend checking this website out!!!

Moby Thesaurus - My thesaurus of choice!

Rhyme Zone - Find words that rhyme with others. Perfect for poets, lyricists, punmasters.

In Different Languages - Search for a word, have it translated in MANY different languages in one page.

ASSETS

In general, I will say: just look up what you want on itch.io. There are SO MANY assets for you to buy on itch.io. You want a font? You want a background? You want a sound effect? You want a plugin? A pixel base? An attack animation? A cool UI?!?!?! JUST GO ON ITCH.IO!!!!!!

Visual Assets (General)

Creative Market - Shop for all kinds of assets, from fonts to mockups to templates to brushes to WHATEVER YOU WANT

Interface In Game - Screenshots of UI (User Interfaces) from SO MANY GAMES. Shows you everything and you can just look at what every single menu in a game looks like. You can also sort them by game genre! GREAT reference!

Zapsplat, Freesound - There are many sound effect websites out there but those are the ones I saved. Royalty free!

Shapeforms - Paid packs for music and sounds and stuff.

CloudConvert - Convert files into other files. MAKE THAT .AVI A .MOV

EZGifs - Make those gifs bigger. Smaller. Optimize them. Take a video and make it a gif. The Sky Is The Limit

Marketing

Press Kitty - Did not end up needing this- this will help with creating a press kit! Useful for ANY indie dev. Yes, even if you're making a tiny game, you should have a press kit. You never know!!!

presskit() - Same as above, but a different one.

Itch.io Page Image Guide and Templates - Make your project pages on itch.io look nice.

MOOMANiBE's IGF post - If you're making indie games, you might wanna try and submit your game to the Independent Game Festival at some point. Here are some tips on how, and why you should.

If I can ask, since you mentioned liking the legend of zelda, what's your opinion on the recent announcement from Nintendo that there's gonna be a Tloz live action movie?

I've seen a lot of people mad because it isn't animated, and I honestly feel the same way. Like, I don't wanna give a not-even-released-movie bad faith (we haven't even seen a trailer for it), but you know... Live action movies based off videogames don't tend to turn out... Well. I hope I'm mistaken of course, but I'm honestly concerned too.

and yeah the fact that it's live action... why couldn't it have been animated? You're telling me that Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom was inspired by Ghibli films and you STILL went for a live action approach instead of making it animated by, idk, Ghibli?? or shit, Studio Ponoc even!

and you just KNOW there's a high chance it's gonna be done in the live action disney remake "looks like shit the day it airs" way, not the practical effects "ages like fine wine" lord of the rings way

i want to be optimistic, i want to be hopeful, but i'm just not the kid i was when this movie SHOULD have happened

hey! it depends, i personally listen to muggle music more, but wizards’ is good too, for example i like this indie-rock band called avis lounge and they make pretty cool songs.

sirius enjoys 70s-80s artists and bands but his taste is actually pretty wide and open, for example he loves oasis too.

while about ron i don’t know because we’re not close friends, that goes for the golden trio in general, i only talk to them from time to time but we haven’t talked about music. i hope i’ll get closer to them though, i’ll make an effort for this.

“Shouldn’t you be out there selling merch?” asked Mitch, half joking while Avi continued to look over his wounds and clean him up. It was just the two of them in a quiet corner of the locker room, finally alone after Louis dragged Sandy away and Jodie had come around to check up on him, her concern palpable until Avi assured her that he had it under control.

“Nah,” Avi lied; Mitch could tell, but he put up no argument. Everything was excruciating, and he wanted Avi there for some kind of support while the brain fuzz continued to amplify. He scratched at his neck then stared down at the dried blood under his fingernails, and thought about Nate doing the same elsewhere in the building. The mental image quickly dissipated when Avi’s thumb pad grazed a few tender spots. Despite Avi’s gentle touches, Mitch was too sore for this.

It’s a bit longer than expected because I can’t shut up, sorry ksbskbskbs

Tiffany’s heart will always beat to rock. But she also enjoys quality pop, some rap and r’n’b. Anything that just sounds right, you know? She’s addicted to music and cannot imagine a day without it.

Her love for rock’n’roll was borrowed from her eldest sister, Tavy. While her family assumed it would be a temporary fixation, Little Miss T has proven everyone wrong.

Inspired by my beloved Maud @blossomanarchy, I went a little extra and created a playlist with some of Tiffany’s all time favorites:

The list was much longer, but I figured I need to condense it a bit lol

As a child, Tiffany was exposed to classical music through dancing and her mother (a piano teacher) and it quickly became a part of her. After she quit dancing, that sentiment got buried deep for years. It was Ethan who brought it back. Much to his delight, he finally found someone to enjoy opera with.

She’s always up to date with alternative/indie rock music and enjoys discovering new artists like some cool European bands no one knows about.

While Ethan has no sympathy for the modern tunes and genres, all the mainstream popular songs only give him a headache, he finds Tiffany’s main rock playlist ‘bearable’ as it contains a lot of evergreens he used to hum daily when he was in high school, reminding him of his youth. Nothing too punk rock though, that vibe was always waaaaaaay too specific for his taste and I don’t picture him as that kind of rebel (because it wouldn’t be, you know, very Capricorn of him).

I think we can all agree that classical music with a side of iconic jazz is Grumpsey’s signature style.

I don’t really see him having a favorite song? Though he enjoys music, Ethan isn’t a frequent listener. Unlike Tiffany, he doesn’t deem it essential to his routine. To him, music is a form of relaxation, and he rarely finds time for that.

In my HC, he has a collection of rare vinyls just because he can kdhkddkb But still, he prefers the live performance.

He doesn’t have Spotify (or any other streaming app for that matter), but sometimes uses Tiffany’s when they’re on the road and she offers a change of tune for the sake of his sanity lol

The genre he loathes the most is rap, but he is forced to tolerate it since Tiffany vibes with it sometimes. And when she does…It’s an entire performance. He’s particularly familiar with Doja Cat. Against his will, obviously. But that dick’s 10/10, so T just can’t help herself jsvjsvjsvsjv

Another life-changing moment was when Tiffany sang Like a Prayer to him. She made him understand what the song is really about…If you catch my drift 👀
