“Wake up, you creature of the night, and despair !”

“Nooo, sleepy, beddy-bye -”

“I said wake up !”

Vampire Hero opened an eye, blinked and yawned. He didn’t look at Villain at once. That was the courtyard itself that caught his attention. He was in the middle of it, tied to a pillar. All around him were huge spikes of metal, as if he was in the center of a gigantic metal flower. They all were curved at different angles. You couldn’t step amid them without being scratched, at least. In a sense, that was pretty. Villain themself was on a balcony, their hands on the balustrade, dominating the scene.

“Kids”, he whispered with leniency. “What they do these days.”

“Shame”, said Villain who hadn’t heard him. “You interest me. I thought we could talk.”

Vampire Hero yawned again for all answer.

“Is it insolence ? Or is it the pain of having been under the sun for all day ?”

“Pain ? Why ?”

“You vampires can’t bear the sun.”

“Oh, I understand the confusion. No. Do you know how some birds fall asleep immediately when you cover their cage, because they think it’s the night ?”

“I suppose ?”

“Well, I work the other way around. I have a sunbeam on my face, I get sleepy. It doesn’t hurt me; I just take a nap.”

Then his tone shifted abruptly:

“All day long ? You mean I’ve been here for more than a day ?”

“Yes.”

“I see.”

His voice was now icy. Villain had a delicate little cough.

“I admit I didn’t know about sunlight. What about silver, then ?”

“That would work on vampires, yes.”

“You’re in luck. All these spikes are covered with silver. If you want to free yourself, you need to get through them.”

Vampire Hero hissed in annoyance:

“Ugh. Any particular reason why ?”

“Unless you want to rot in here forever.”

“No, I mean. Let me get this straight. You’ve made all these spikes so I could walk over them for a couple of minutes ? It just seems kinda wasteful.”

“If you want to talk about waste, time’s ticking. Why won’t you have your little dance right now ? You have two minutes before reaching me.”

“Yeah, okay.”

Vampire Hero slipped out of his bonds and stepped forward. He whistled.

“That’s quite the thorn forest you have there. Gasp ! Curses, even. What’s a poor vampire to do ?”

He slowly turned his head toward Villain and smirked:

“Hey, watch this.”

He extended his hand and casually patted the flat side of the spike.

“Oh no”, he said in a toneless voice, while staring at Villain. “I’m doomed. Ouch. Argh. And such.”

Slowly he smiled, revealing his razor-like teeth.

“Do you see it ? Do you begin to see it ?”

“See what ?”

“Your mistake.”

“Show off”, whispered Villain.

“Possibly, yes. At least I’m not ordering useless death traps on a whim. I’ve always made sure they worked first.”

“Death traps ? You are a hero.”

“Now, yes.”

Vampire Hero took a couple of steps among the spikes, decided it was quite enough, jumped, caught the guardrail and climbed the balcony. He hadn't avoided all of them, far from it, but when he landed on his feet, his face was emotionless. There was maybe a twinge of exasperation. He stood still in front of Villain. They both stayed quiet for a moment.

“What are you ?” finally asked Villain.

“A vampire hero.”

“No you’re not. You don’t fear silver or sunlight and you had death traps. You’re neither. What are you ?”

“I am pissed off. I want to be home every night and you’ve prevented me to do it.”

“Why ?”

“I'm married. Just know you’re very lucky I am what I said. I’ll let you live. Reluctantly.”

Villain barely reacted when he pinned them against the wall, whispering in their ear:

“Now then ! You’ve made me lose time. You owe me a drink.”

what was bucky calling himself in romania? did he use the romanian variant of James (Iakob) when he talked to people and had to give them a name? how did he even learn romanian? does he have romanian heritage? did he learn it during the war? how did he pay rent? was he working in construction or as a line cook or something? did he have a little old lady as a neighbour who thought he was too skinny and lonely and forced him to eat with her at least once a week? did she make him help with cooking so he could make the food himself? did he go to the orthodox church with her? did the local kids like him? did he cut his hair himself or did he brave going to a barbers to keep it at a length he liked? did he like talking to market sellers about fruit because it was an easy conversation and a way for him to get used to socialising?

I don’t want to start drama but I’ve seen some concerning posts floating around about how distasteful and disappointing it is to see certain creators “support” Dorian and I hate to break it to you guys, but if you’ve ever interacted, shared or created anything regarding The Arcana you are supporting Dorian yourselves.

Being in the fandom alone is supporting Dorian by creating engagement, publicizing the game and being part of the audience they’re trying to target.

And even if you were to delete your whole blog and everything you’ve ever posted to enjoy the original game in private you would still be supporting Dorian by bringing traffic to the app they now own.

The one and only way you have to stop supporting Dorian, if you care about it so much, would be to distance yourself from the series entirely and go join another fandom. Never play the original game ever again and never interact with any fan creation regarding it from now on. 👋

Is your OC a loner or a social butterfly? Are they satisfied with how they come across to other people?

Absolutely more of a loner. Zo'ogai always prefered to do things on his own, in his ways and have minimal social encounters. However, he doesn't like to be lonely. He appreciates to have people around, just not interacting with him on a regular basis.

Ever since he settled down in a place that might be a permanent home however he has felt more and more a need to actually be social, to make the village as a whole a home and family. He is well aware though that his social skills aren't that good and often feel like he comes across as unfriendly, bitter, aggressive, and so on.

But he is slowly figuring out ways to be who he wants to be in the eyes of others. It also helps a lot that the people around him now are pretty tolerant and understanding.

Rayne picks up two practical hobbies to keep themself entertained, pottery making and weapon smithing!

Weapon smithing is harder, they don’t have a consistent source of metal, and often want to use gemstones to decorate their weapons - the goal isn’t for them to just purely be practical, it’s for the weapons to be high quality. They’re often sturdy, yet easy to wield, and Rayne considered the weapons being visually appealing as part of their quality.

Pottery is a hobby they indulge in more often, as they can get clay from the nearby river, and gather berries for paint! What they make occasionally gets broken, as a method to redirect their anger when they feel as though the gods are trying to antagonise them. They know it isn’t the healthiest coping mechanism, but if it prevents them from picking a physical fight with the gods, then it’s working in their eyes.

re: the sprite layers, as someone who extracts assets from the fictif app for meme edits, the sprites actually arent a thing. every sprite is made up of various layers that are swapped out. sage's ears are a separate sprite from his hair which is a separate sprite from his head etc. there's actually very few fully assembled sprites for any of the characters in the files. ive made the same mistake of forgetting his ears in meme edits before, so i dont rly blame alex for that

i need all of you to understand, that when you make aesthetic edits of hydra, or captain hydra, when you romanticize red skull, zola, pierce, rumlow, anything hydra, you are romanticizing nazis. hydra is not "cool", captain america being hydra would not be a fun plot twist. and you can't "it's just fiction" your way out of this. hydra is nazis. don't romanticize it, don't pretend its okay. and no, you cannot leave politics out of marvel. being a "hydra fan" does not make you quirky, it makes you a fascist.

(I think I actually heard about one of these through the grapevine on twitter so I’m glad to have found out which one it was). 

What strikes me about the few I’ve read (I prefer to filter out the character tag and not think negative thoughts at all), is how very in-character she feels, even in even in AU fics that are specifically supposed to be showing her in an out-and-out villainous light. 

(The difference between the characterisation of villain!her and Dark!Steve in fanfics, for example, is absolutely enormous!) 

Kind of brings it home how unpleasant she has become in canon. :-//

(I’m in no position to judge! I myself, cuz I have been daydreaming about stucky regency/age of sail aus recently, have been thinking how easy it would be to adapt scenes of her from canon, but looked at from the other side, to show just how misogynist the original writing is, and how strong the ‘love-interest centered morality’ is. The danger then is that she threatens to take over even in fanfic!)
