Chapter 18
Wishing upon a shooting star
Now and Forever
Time was a funny concept.
After the incident with Vision and Agatha, the world continued its slow travelled into a new year and the normality of life. But for you and your family, it became a painfully slow process in which you had to face many decisions and harsh realities. In the last couple of days, you had tried to make everything work, you made sure not only America but Wanda and the twins had the support they needed to continue on, while also dealing with the legal affairs involving Vision.
Everything had been a part of your life and how you were building up from scratch what had been put in jeopardy in a matter of hours.
Still, you and Wanda endure, and you couldn’t help but fell more in love with the woman that had been picking up her pieces while being everything you and her children needed. You massaged your neck tiredly, the house was completely alone and Wanda and the twins were still out somewhere with Natasha and Maria.
At least that was what she had said to you when you asked for her companionship to your appointment with the doctor. It had been a strange day, a very lonely day in which you had been left alone with your thoughts and emotions.
You whistled glancing around your living room before directing your attention to the stairs, America had long gone somewhere with Kate and you regretted not having agreed to her and her idea of joining you at the hospital. With a heavy sigh, and some tiredness you made your way upstairs ready to take a shower.
Of course, noting could had prepared you for what you found there.
The room was completely empty.
You stepped forward until your eyes fell upon the clothes that had been neatly organized on your bed. Right on top of your favourite trousers there was a single note with your name on it, you recognized America’s messy handwriting and you couldn’t help but smile at the words she had left written on the piece of paper.
Today is finally the day!
Wanda has been planning this for a very long time, and since I am very amazing sister, and sister-in-law, I decided to give her a hand.
I choose your favourite clothes and left everything ready for you to get dress and ready for your date with Wanda. You and her both deserve this time, and I think it would be the perfect time to just be yourself and talk about everything but what had happened lately. Please, be happy. I will take the twins to Kate’s place and you two will have the rest of the afternoon and the night for yourselves. Please, just write to me and make sure you enjoy the date.
Love, the best sister in the world (me)
Your smile only grew knowing in the last couple of days America had been completely secretive though always offering hints of how much you were going to love the surprised. Wanda had been holding her secrets just as tightly, and by the time Friday finally arrived you were really dying to know what Wanda had prepared.
“Very well, one hour before Wanda is here,” you mumbled to yourself letting your eyes wandered around to check your clothes. With a wince, you left your backpack and the jacket on a chair and went to the bathroom.
You couldn’t help but gasped at the sheer pain you felt running through your arm, leaving the sling to the side and helping yourself out of your clothes. Your reflection blinked back at you, the wound on your left arm was still red, and fresh, pulsating from time to time reminding you not only of the cold winter days, but of what had almost happened two weeks ago.
With a frown, and a shake of your head you turned around getting the bath ready.
Today was about you and Wanda and whatever it was she had prepared for you, there was no time to think anything sad or regretful. With a smile on your face, you put on some music and decided to get ready for the woman that had already captured your heart.
A deep void of anticipation settled on your lower abdomen and you could hardly wait to see Wanda again.
You glanced at your reflection with a critical eye.
America had put together the suit your dad had chosen for your first official meeting in the company. Your lips curled lightly, it had been a while since you last used those Chino pants, or that blazer, but it was your favourite one because of how it made you look. How it made you feel. You smiled fixing your left arm to rest comfortably on your midsection, the blazer and pants tailored fit complementing your body form with the dark colours you favoured so much.
You found your eyes in your reflection, your body tingling with anticipation and a void expanding on your abdomen. Your heart shrank with emotion, when you recalled Wanda's eyes on you, her smile and the sweet timbre of her voice. If you were to be honest you didn't know when you felt for her, when you lowered your guard and allowed this woman and her children to take home in your heart. You just knew that one day, her smile took your breath away and her eyes on you made your heart fluttered with want.
The mobile on your bed vibrated several times, you furrowed your brows grabbing the phone while reading the message. You smirked, you turned around and went directly to the first floor making sure you had your wallet and keys on you. The moment you opened the door your throat went dry,
She stood by your door wearing a single, dark blue dress pressed around her horse but loose around the waist. There was a black coat on her, with her hair straightened up and light make-up glistening on her face. She smiled shyly at you, her eyes taking in your frame before they settled in your eyes, her cheeks wore a dust of red you were familiar with.
“Hey.” She greeted tentatively dipping her head while looking away for a moment.
You shook your head, blinking a couple of times before stepping forward.
“Hey.”
Wanda leaned back, her tongue playing with her lips with her hands closing tightly around the purse she had borrowed.
“You look beautiful.” You finally stuttered out, your face warming up when those green eyes fell on you once more.
Wanda put a strand of hair behind her ear, her smile softening leaning into the touch of your hand on her arm.
“You look good, too.” She replied and you were quite relieved you were not the only one incapable of speaking properly at the moment.
“Only good?” You asked teasingly, Wanda opened her eyes, shaking her head.
“You look amazing.” She finally stated, rolling her eyes when you just chuckled.
“Amazing, eh?”
“You always look good,” Wanda lifted her hand and put it on top of yours, “are you ready?”
You stepped out of your house closing the door behind you, you grabbed her hand placing a kiss on her knuckles with a single winked that made Wanda falter for a moment.
“I'm all ready for you, Princess. I'm also very excited to know where you are taking me, and what you have planned for today.”
You couldn't hide the excitement in your voice, you bounced on your feet while Wanda merely shook her head pointing to the car.
“It's still a surprise and as such, you are going to be asked to wear a blindfold.”
You cocked a brow at her, your lips curling playfully.
“Kinky.” You chuckled when Wanda slapped you playfully on the back, she rolled her eyes but you could tell she was blushing profusely.
“Come on, we have reservations.”
Wanda started walking down the lane but stopped when your hand closed around her forearm. She turned confused, her eyes finding yours and the seriousness of your expression made her turn completely to face you.
“We cannot go like this, you know?” You shook your head, but Wanda merely creased her brows tilting her head.
Whatever question she had, or whatever she was going to say was soon cut by your lips finding hers in a slow, tentative kiss. Her breath caught in her throat, and you just loved the way she tilted her head placing her hands on your forearms giving into the kiss while opening her mouth with her tongue teasingly playing with yours. You smiled into the kiss, sowing down until your forehead was resting against hers. Both breathing hard, flustered with lips swollen from the kissing.
“Are you…are you happy now?” Wanda asked and her voice, while still recovering, suddenly was huskier than ever.
You nodded, placing a sweet peck on her cheek, stepping back before you couldn't contain yourself.
“Yep, now we can go.”
____________________________
The ride to your destination was a silent event.
The silence was filled with music and conversation about your doctor’s recommendations for the physical therapy and Wanda’s care of her throat. You had leaned back against the eat, with a smile playing on your lips while you gave the woman sitting beside you a trust you rarely placed in anybody else.
When the car finally stopped, your stomach was squirming deliciously and your heart was jumping with anticipation of what was going to happen. You waited until a warm hand placed itself on your leg, your body tense leaning in to follow the voice of Wanda.
“I thought very hard on this, you know?” Wanda was speaking softly, with her voice filled with memory and something you couldn’t quite name, “I’ve been going through so many changes, and when I was finally getting to know myself I met you.”
You cracked a smile leaning your head without being able to see but sensing Wanda’s eyes on you.
“That was one hell of a first good impression?”
Wanda snorted, her hand clenched tenderly around your knee.
“No, I hated you.” This time around you could tell she was not joking, but her voice merely softened. “I hated what you made me feel, I felt vulnerable but at the same time there was this horde of butterflies on my stomach and my chest was always tight and throbbing…it was infuriating. It was confusing.”
You lifted your right hand; your movements were slow and tentative waiting to see if Wanda would stop your advances but she never did so. By the time you took off the blindfold, you could see the face of the other woman looking right outside the parking lot of a big, black building. Wanda let out a breathy sigh, it came right from her chest and by the time her green eyes found yours your heart skipped a beat.
“I wasn’t sure as to what I was experimenting until…” Wanda shrugged, “until I told Hope, then everything make sense.”
“Was it the first time you…” your question caught in your throat, there were many things you wanted to ask, furrowing your brows you realised there were certain details about Wanda you had yet to see, you had yet to know.
Fixing your position on the seat, this time around it was you the one facing her while the building stood like a shadow in front of you.
“Was it the first time a woman flirt with you?” You asked tentatively, Wanda nodded tilting her head until she was locking her eyes with you.
“It was the first time I actually admit to liking a woman, Y/N.” Wanda then softened her features, her hand seeking yours, “today I want to make it special, I want for you to know and to feel just how much you mean to me. I…I may be slow with words, but I don’t want you to think I am not experiencing the same emotions as you do.”
Your lips broke into a half smile, you leaned forward until your lips were on her ear. Wanda shivered her eyes fluttering close as you spoke.
“I love you.” It was a simple whisper, three words you had gotten used to tell the other woman with every single ounce of honestly you could show her.
“I know.” Wanda replied back turning her face until your lips and hers were brushing against one another, you snorted shaking your head.
“Very well, Han Solo, where are we?”
Wanda furrowed her brows scrunching up her nose the very same way the twins usually did when confused. You chuckled tucking her locks behind her ear.
“What did you call me?” She asked tentatively leaning back, you raised a single brow.
“You know? Han Solo? Star Wars? Princess Leia?”
Wanda shrugged shaking her head, her eyes twinkling in silent laughter at the face of pure mock disbelief you were wearing at the moment. It was as if you were genuinely offended by her lack of knowledge for what you were saying.
“God, as soon as this is over you and I are going home to see the movies, the original ones before I settled on letting you see the full saga.” You commented opening the door of the car.
Wanda followed your actions, but just before the both of you left the warmness of the car she decided to speak.
“Funny, I thought that after we left this place you and I could be doing something totally different once we were home. I was dying to know what else you could do with that mouth of yours.”
The young woman smirked closing the car door behind her and walking down the parking lot, her cheeks were a witness of her embarrassment but her heart fluttered happily when she heard your cursed and gasp. The door closing with a loud thud, while your footsteps hurried up behind her.
The night promise to be fun.
The main entranced had been decorated with silvery banners announcing the newest show, the doors were closed and a single sign to the left showed the place had been closed hours ago. You furrowed your brows; it was until the both of you had been standing closed to it that you realized you were in the Natural Museum and the Stark Planetarium. The place was huge and it had been built just outside the city to make it possible for the observatory to get easiest access to a clear sky.  Your eyes lighted up leaning in to observed inside the glassed doors, Wanda stood by your side writing something on her phone while waiting patiently with you.
“How did you know?” You asked leaning back, Wanda shifted her weight from one feet to the other facing you with a soft smile.
“I did pay attention when you helped the twins with their homework, and I did my investigation to make sure I wouldn’t get this wrong.” Wanda stepped closer to you positioning herself on your right side so she could grab your hand in hers. “I want this date to be special.”
“Being with you is what makes this date special.” You pecked her cheek, and Wanda just shook her head.
“You’re such a sweet talker.”
“Nah, I’m just saying the truth.”
Soon the doors were opened and a single guard opened the doors, he smiled at the both of you while passing a set of keys to Wanda giving her silent instructions as to where they should go and which parts were off limits for the both of you. You observed as the young woman listened carefully, she took the map the man was giving her while also pointing to something on the tablet he was holding. Your heart skipped a beat thinking of all the things she had done, if only to get you to where you two were at the moment ready to enjoy the strangest date you had ever been to.
“Very well, we’re not allow to disturb the rest of the exhibitions so let’s see, I think it’s down here.”
“Lead the way, my lady, I am but a humble peasant at your mercy.”
Wanda chuckled grabbing your hand dragging you through the corridors, it was only the both of you and the sound of your footsteps disturbed the silent scene spreading before your eyes. You had been in that place several times through your youth and adulthood; it was one of your favourite places in the whole world and you had a sneaking suspicion this part of the date had been America’s contribution.
“No way…” you whispered this time around walking faster until it was you the one dragging Wanda behind you, your smile grew just as you turned around and found the planetarium had been fixed in such a way that right in the middle of the ground there was a single table with two chairs.
You had been there when your father was helping around on the renovations, at that time you were but eight years old, but the idea behind these new arrangements was to make camping-like scenario for some of the youngest people that would fill the place in the future. The idea was to make of this dome of the most accurate and real in the whole country.
Let’s make it feel as if they were actually outside, watching the stars above their heads on a nice, summer night.
Your face broke into a nostalgic smile as the words of your father filled your mind.
Wanda took a deep breath her hand squeezing yours tenderly, her heart beating fast just as you let go while strolling around the place. The planetarium was located on the west wing of the building, it was the biggest in the east coast and it usually held some of the most important films about astronomy and history in the whole country. The projection dome was done with neutral colours with a LED system that came along with the latest technology for audio and special effects. It had been a couple of years since you last were inside the Domo and finding yourself in the midst of such a place only brough a bubble of happiness that spread all through your senses.
Everything was already set up, and the lights that were lighting up the place were just centred on the single table with two chairs right in the middle of the room. Instead of the normal chairs that were placed around the theatre, you found yourself looking at a scene that never thought possible and you knew right there and there of all the effort that Wanda had taken that very first time to give you the perfect date.
“Do you…do you like it?” Wanda finally broke the silence approaching you with a tentative stare in her eyes, she approached the table signalling the cutlery with the table, the glasses of wine and the single bottle resting on a small side table inside a bucket filled with ice.
You turned to the woman standing beside you, it was quite incredible that even after all she had done there was still some trepidation in her features, the nervous picking of her fingers while she tried to offer explanations of how everything came to be. Of the careful planning she did to make sure everything would be ready, that everything would be there on time.
You stopped her tirade just as she was about to tell you she chose as the main course had been lasagne accompanied by a white wine.
Wanda got her words tangled in her throat, her lips trembling lightly until she lifted her arms to return your hug. For the very first time, after what happened in New Year and the process of recovery you and Wanda allowed the comfort of a single hug.
“This is amazing.” You whispered making sure she could feel everything you were experimenting at the moment.
Wanda closed her eyes, taking in the sweet aroma of your perfume and surrendering to the warm of your body. You leaned back, brushing your fingers on her hair while taking in the marks on her eyes and the tentativeness behind her stare.
“Nobody had done this before, you know?”
“Really?” Wanda asked right away, you shook your head. Wanda pursed her lips stepping back a little.
“You don’t have to say that, you know?”
You furrowed your brows seeking her eyes with yours until she couldn’t look away from you.
“I mean it, Wands. I’ve been in many dates some of them were unique in the way the presented themselves, but…well, this…” You lifted your eyes to the dome stretching your arms while twirling around, “having someone worry enough to make something I like? Not many did, and not in the way I was expecting.”
“Well, I just thought…” Wanda turned around when the gates of the theatre opened and there came a couple of waitresses bringing over the food.
You grabbed Wanda’s hand leaning in to place a single kiss on her knuckles, the young woman rolled her eyes at your gesture but took it for what it was.
“Let’s eat, and discuss this, my lady.”
“Let me help you out.” Wanda replied walking fast to the closest chair pulling it out waiting for you to sit.
You grinned taking the chair while Wanda too the one right in front of you, the two young men worked was placing the plates filled with food while also serving the wine and leaving two glasses of water as well.
Everything was perfect, the smell of the fresh lasagne filled your nostrils and it was quite evident you couldn’t shake the smile adorning your features. Wanda puffed out her chest, a sense of pride overcame her knowing she had made it possible for you to not lose your smile or relaxed posture.
“This is delicious,” you moaned while tasting the food, Wanda blushed glancing at the food while nodding in agreement. “God you bought it in Olympia, didn’t you?”
“Yep, Ajak was very kind to offer the services of the waitress and the food and actually all the things you see here.”
“You really outdo yourself with the date, Wanda.”
Wanda lifted her face taking in your frame, she smiled going back to her food.
“I really wanted to make this special for you.” Wanda grabbed her wine frowning her brows for a moment, “I never thought I could be this special with anyone, let out feel like this for someone else.”
You focused on the food, but soon you noticed the sweet melody of a familiar song playing in the speakers inside the dome. Your eyes lighted up turning to Wanda who was offering a tiny smile, she really had thought about everything.
“Very well, what’s your ideal date?” You asked all of a sudden, Wanda was taken aback for a moment blinking at the randomness of the question.
“My ideal date?”
“Yep, you just said you couldn’t imagine being this special, but you are special, Wanda. Perhaps, you were never given the chance, but I know you must have something inside your head that cold be define as the perfect one.”
Wanda chewed on her lower lip, narrowing her eyes for a moment before leaning in.
“I have always thought that a walked down a beautiful part, or forest leading to a lake is an ideal date.” She stated thoughtfully, “mom used to take Pietro and me to this beautiful forest near the city back home, she always told us the stories of her youth, and I always thought that would be the perfect place to have a date or a marriage proposal.”
You nodded pursing your lips impressed, Wanda then turned to you her eyes gleaming strangely.
“How about yours?”
You opened your eyes blinking a couple of times before leaning over, “I have to say, this one? It’s at the top five of my favourite dates ever.”
Wanda made a face of disbelief but you stopped her with a gesture of your hand, you drank some wine shaking your head.
“I mean it.” You declared strongly, “I love history, and I love everything that has to do with museums and books, if you want to win my heart, this is the perfect spot to start over. But I would say the perfect date would be on Prague’s Strahov library. Now, that would be quite the adventure.”
The conversation soon flew the same way it did before the incident, you caught Wanda giving in while leaving the stress on her shoulders ease out and her expression relaxed while the conversation grew around the topics she handled well. You never lied to her, while you had your share amount of dates usually they involved other type of activities that, why you liked them at a time, they hardly related with one of your passions.
Laughter filled the planetarium; the acoustics of the place made it easy for the sound to be enhanced. The conversation grew around different topics, and soon whatever happened in the past, whatever physical wounds the both of you carried still were forgotten.
And it was in that moment you remembered why you fell in love with Wanda.
“Thank you, this was delicious.” You glanced at the waitress smiling gently at her, the young woman flushed returning the smile until she caught the glare coming from Wanda.
“I will bring the desert.” The young woman picked up the last of the dishes and hurried out of the place.
You cocked a brow at Wanda who had not stopped following the other woman with her glare, when she returned her attention to you it was only to find your amused smile adorning your features.
“Jealous much?” You chuckled when Wanda clicked her tongue looking away.
“Should I be?”
This time around you did laugh at the absurdity of the comment, Wanda rolled her eyes sending you a withering stare before huffing and crossing her arms. You waited until the dessert had been served and another bottle of wine was brought, this time around the rest of the lights went out and there was only a single one left to create a foggy atmosphere around the centre of the room.
“I think you are adorable when jealous.” You stood up serving the wine, you knew Wanda was following you with her eyes but for now you focused your attention to the task at hand. “I still remember that time in which you saw me and Carol, there is something utterly cute about it.”
“I’m not jealous, and I don’t think being jealous counts as adorable. Or cute.”
You clicked your tongue shaking your head, the glass was soon filled with the red beverage on the bottle. You passed the glass to Wanda who received it, the glint in her eyes told you she was enjoying the changed in the topic. Or perhaps, what she was enjoying was your attention. You nodded to her mobile taking your glass in your hands.
“They give you control of the room, didn’t they?”
Wanda pursed her lips glancing at her phone while nodding.
“Mr. Stark taught me the basics, and how to make sure that everything was perfect for the show.” Wanda mumbled, she gasped when you grabbed the phone seeking the app where Wanda was trying to handle the dome.
“You took my playlist, didn’t you?” This time around there was a hint of affection tainting your voice, Wanda nodded as if it was obvious.
“I wanted this to be about you.” She mumbled well aware that your eyes were now on her.
“Let’s make this about you and me, then.” You ran your thumb around the playlist until you found the song you were looking for. Your mouth broke into a smirk, and the sudden glint of mischief that appeared in your eyes made Wanda winced.
“What are you thinking?”
You left your glass of wine, stretching your hand to Wanda who took it without thinking it twice.
“Dance with me, my love.”
Wanda looked away with a tiny smile on her lips, her cheeks burning up while she started shivering under your hold. You stepped closer waiting for the song to start, your body moulding perfectly against Wanda’s one.
“I trust you know how to dance, Wands?”
“I…I know the basics.” She replied locking her eyes with you.
“Then, let me stir you around the curves.” You winked at her, loving the sound of her laughter.
The sound of the trumpet was the first thing that came into the speakers, and soon the music formed around the voice of Elle Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. Wanda snickered gasping when you twirled her around before pressing her body to yours, the dance started slowly with you just swinging around.
“Why that song?” Wanda finally asked, you shrugged with memory written in your eyes.
“Mom used to listen to it, America’s mom.” You clarified, “her mother used Elle to perfect her English when they first came here.”
Wanda nodded leaning closer, her arms sneaking around the nape of your neck. You wiggled your eyebrows bringing another chuckled from the young woman.
“And she taught you how to dance?”
“Yep.”
“Mom used to teach us as well,” Wanda rested her forehead against yours, “ours was more classical, but still it was nice. She was a little obsess of making me be a debutant, and Pietro a escort in the traditional sense.”
Wanda furrowed her brows at the memory, but whatever memory came with it soon was forgotten and replaced with a content smile.
“It was actually nice, and I enjoyed it greatly.”
“I would love to dance something classical, any song in mind?” You asked tentatively, Wanda opened her eyes a little taken aback by your inquiry.
“You want to? Really?”
“Yeah, I do.”
Wanda tilted her head thinking for a moment until the song finished and the both of you stood in the middle of the room just looking at one another. The young woman leaned in kissing you tentatively, when she parted from you your heart was already trembling under the sheer passion she shared through the kiss.
“No, perhaps later, right now I want to keep spoiling you.”
Not sooner had she said this, Wanda turned around making her way to the futons resting on the floor. She fixed them with care, full aware of your curious eyes on her; woman made sure to take her jacket off of her and fix everything so the both of you could rest comfortably on the floor.
“What else did you plan?” You finally asked approaching her with the same amount of curiosity, Wanda was smiling shrugging lightly.
“You’ll see, don’t be impatient.” Wanda hesitated for a moment before turning to you, “do you mind serving the wine and bring it over?”
“Not at all.” With one last glance you turned to the table ready to serve the wine when all of a sudden the lights went out.
You froze on the spot, lifting your head to see if perhaps it had been a malfunction in the system or there was something else involved. Soon, you could feel the breeze touching your heated face, the small resounding of drums that went increasing until music of ancient design filled the room and a single dot of white appeared on the far edge of the screen crossing the dome above your head like a shooting star.
You gasped turning around to see Wanda smiling at you, she had dismissed her heels and her coat approaching you while the music transformed into a soothing melody. She locked her eyes with yours, and while you couldn’t see it, you could feel her trembling hands on your blazer helping you out of it while fixing the posture of your sling.
No words were needed it when those fingers worked around the bottoms of your shirt and then she took you to the futons she had fixed on the ground. With a stretch out hand, you allowed her to direct you to the ground almost chocking on your spit when she knelt in front of you taking your shoes off of you.
“Wanda…” You couldn’t keep the silence, but your voice sounded strangled almost fearful to break the spell the both of you seemed to be in.
“This is about you.” She replied simply, crawling to you her lips found yours in the sweetest of kisses the both of you had shared so far.
You found yourself on your back, those lips dancing with yours in a silent invitation. Your heart was beating hard, you were sure the sound of the drums had long ago been replaced by the sound of your heart. Your put your open hand on the back of Wanda’s neck putting her closer until you were on your back and she was almost on top of you.
“I love you.” Wanda all but whisper in your ear, her face almost hidden in the crook of your neck while her warm breath caressed the skin behind your ear.
There was a moment of silence, your heart finally stopped while you registered those words coming from her. You never expected Wanda to say those three words any time soon, you understood the kind of pressure she had been in, and the life she had been living before meeting you. Hell, the amount of time the both of you had known each other wouldn’t give you both enough time to say such a deep declaration, yet you couldn’t deny what you had been feeling for the woman hovering above you at the moment.
Your eyes found those emerald ones, the affection she had always shown you was there gleaming with hope. She waited with her lips swollen, and a dust of pink on her cheeks; Wanda leaned in her nose playing with yours while her eyes closed to engrave the moment in her mind.
“I love you.” She said it again, this time around louder, stronger and you knew she meant it. Every single word.
Your eyes flickered soon to the screen above your head, this time around everything changed and it was as if the both of you were right outside. The night sky was gleaming above your head, with a million started twinkling merrily at you, the start gliding slowly until the movement of the starts start speeding up and soon everything changed and the first constellations came upon the screen.
Wanda could see the stars reflecting in your eyes, she was very careful with her weight always favouring your right side. Her lips curled into a smile when your face lit up with glee at the sight above your head; she remembered the first time she asked for help. America and Hope had been so sure about their proposal that Wanda couldn’t say no, but she opted to add some of the things she had learned from you in those conversations in the middle of the night.
“I love you, too.” You finally replied back, this time around those eyes were filled with affection and completely focused on Wanda.
The young woman dipped her head turning on her side until she was resting right beside you, her hand sneaking comfortably around your midsection.
“I’m sorry it took me this long to say it,” Wanda started but before you could reply she shot you a quick glance shaking her head, “you had been my saviour in so many ways. You can imagine where I was when I first met you.”
“I was a bitch on that meeting.” You recalled, but Wanda merely chuckled nodding.
“You were and I hated you for that.” Wanda turned to you never losing her smile or the affection in her voice, “and then I got to know you and I was…confused. You were making me feel so much, in so little time, and I was afraid.”
Wanda snuggled closer to you, “I’m not afraid anymore, and after thinking about it I realized I love you. As in, I’m in love with you, Y/N, and I don’t think I can stop my heart right now…”
“Why would you stop it?” You inquired turning on your side, wincing when you put some stressed on your left arm.
“I don’t know, what if…”
You leaned in kissing Wanda before she could finish her sentence, Wanda giggled welcoming the kiss before making sure you were back on your back instead of putting some unnecessary stress on your arm.
“Don’t think about the what ifs, Wanda.” You nodded to the sky above your heads, the music had changed into winds and cords, and the story of the first constellations came to be right in front of your eyes.
“I know it is too soon, still. That there is a lot to work on, but if you allowed it…I will be by your side until the last start in the sky had been consume by time.”
Wanda leaned closer to you, her face hidden once more by your neck though this time around you could feel her lips on your neck.
“How do you do it? How can you say such things and make me tremble until there is nothing else but you?”
“It’s a gift.” You chuckled when Wanda lifted her face rolling her eyes.
“I want to be with you, for as long as you want me, Y/N.”
“Then, let’s be together.” You sneaked your arm around her putting her on top of you, “let’s be a family and see where it goes.”
“I love you, and I just wanted to make sure you knew it.” Wanda insisted, you nodded pecking her nose.
“I know.”
“I wanted to make of this night something special,” Wanda said her hand lifting to cup your face and soon her fingers started dancing down your jaw to your neck to the open shirt. For you it was soon evident what she meant, and while she tried to look confident in what she was doing you could see the flash of uncertainty in her eyes.
Her hand was trembling, whatever expertise she had tried to show soon vanished when you realized she was getting closer to your chest.
“You don’t have to…you know?” You could see the glint of hesitation in her green eyes, Wanda clenched them closed in frustration. “Hey, Wands…look at me.”
It took a moment, but then she lifted her eyes and soon she was looking right at you.
“I don’t need sex to know I love you and that my heart is already yours, Wands. And I don’t need you to prove it to me; Wands whenever you are ready I’ll be here more than happy to make you scream in passion.”
Wanda gasped this time around her blush grew from her chest all the way to her cheeks, she tried to look away from you but you made it impossible for her to do so. Your wounded arm finding her face in a single caress.
“How can you be so understanding? God, I just…” Wanda leaned against your touch, “I feel foolish.”
“Never, Love, I just know… and I’m not in any hurry, whenever you are ready, I’ll be ready as well.”
Wanda sighed and whatever tension had been building around her left her body, this time around, when she kissed you she did it with the promise of the future. She laid down by your side, and soon she focused her stare on the stars above your head.
“I love it, this moment just you and me…”
“I thought we need it, you have been amazing with the twins but…” Wanda trailed off shrugging, “I think we were also needing this time to know one another. To actually share in an alone time.”
You smiled nodding your agreement, her hand found yours and soon your fingers intertwined with hers. The stars danced above your heads, and soon your voice joined the music and the different scenes playing with the constellations. You filled in the gaps with the stories you recognized, with Wanda asking questions or helping in the narration until soon you two were talking about mythology and reality.
“I wish this night would never end,” Wanda whispered glancing at the projection of the stars above her head, the show was about to end and she couldn’t help but voice what she had been experimenting in her heart.
“It doesn’t have to be over.” You replied turning to Wanda, the other woman furrowed her brows and you pressed your lips together turning on your side so you were facing her.
“Someday, right?” Wanda replied locking her eyes with yours.
“Someday.”
She smiled snuggling closer to you, “for now I wouldn’t say no to you sleeping with me, I mean without…I…”
You snickered placing a kiss on her forehead, “I know.”
“Did you imagine this will end like this?” Wanda finally asked, her eyes focusing on the sky above her head.
“No, I imagine it will start like this.” You glanced at the same stars, the same shooting star you saw at the beginning gleaming in the distance ready to travel through the sky.
“What do you mean?” Wanda scrunched up her nose, you placed a single kiss on her forehead nodding to the sky.
“I imagine this is how my relationship with you will start, and that after today we just ready to face the new challenges this relationship may bring.” You shrugged glancing down at Wanda, “I’ve been in love before, but…with you? It feels right, as if I was waiting for you.”
Wanda opened her eyes lightly before her expression softened.
“I realised that when…when you stood by my side regardless of my past.” Wanda rested her head on your shoulder, “I think this is the first time I have been in love and, I want you to be the only one.”
“well, love, you have a shooting star to make your wishes a reality.” You pointed to the screen and soon the shooting star crossed the dome and the show was over.
“what did you wish for?” Wanda inquired turning to you, you winked at her nuzzling her nose with yours.
“It’s a secret.”
“That’s not fair! You know what I ask for!”
“I do?” You furrowed your brows, Wanda nodded looking away for a moment before locking her eyes with yours.
“I wish for you to be my one and only love.”
You were shocked for a moment, but soon you answered to such words by kissing Wanda softly.
“And you?” Wanda finally said once you parted from the kiss.
“Me? Well, love, you will have to wait.” You smirked when Wanda seemed indignant at your declaration.
“Oh, come on!”
You pocked her nose, leaning in to kiss her pouting face away.
“Nu-uh, Princess, patience is a virtue, and I know you will know what I wish for with time.”
Wanda groaned in mock frustration, she was about to stand up but her hand grabbed her phone and soon a new projection started in the dome. You raised a single eyebrow when Wanda pinned you to the futon, her lips curling into a mischievous smile.
“Well, then, meanwhile I will just do the second part of my wish.”
“Second part?” Wanda nodded leaning in.
“Yep, I wish to kiss you, and show you how much I love you, how much I thank the skies for having me given the opportunity of meeting you.” Wanda then leaned closer to your face, “I wish to kiss you until the story above our heads is no more and the only option you have is to take me home and spend the night with me.”
“Then, my lady, allow me to make those wishes a reality.”
Their laughter soon filled the dome, and it came accompanied by a sudden gasp and the sound of kissing and playful banter.
Wanda never imagined that her decision to leave Vision would end up with her finding herself, while in the process getting a job and making new friends. Not even in her wildest dreams did Wanda imagine that she would come across someone like you that, for the very first moment create a lasting impression on her to the point Wanda decided to explore the relationship.
Her past had finally stayed in the past, with Vision in jail and her getting the full custody of her children, Wanda now was sure she could secure her future while at the same time seek out the peace and happiness she so desperately needed. Now, with you kissing her slowly while sharing a moment of pure, and unrestrained happiness, Wanda knew that every single decision she had taken had led her to that moment, it had led her to you.
And she didn’t regret it.
With you, Wanda understood that she didn’t need to lie to herself, that she didn’t need to hide or to run. With you, Wanda discovered she could be herself and finally give in.
To be loved, and to love.
That was all that matter.
**********
Three years later
Morning had arrived with a bright sun, and no clouds in the sky.
You served the coffee while glancing out the window, the sound of running footsteps brought a smile to your face knowing that the holidays were the perfect opportunity for the twins to break havoc. No sooner had you thought this, Billy and Tommy came through the door wearing the baggy pants and the t-shirt they had chosen to wear that day.
“Morning, Y/N!” Billy came to you wrapping his arms on your midsection before going to the fridge, Tommy chuckled sitting down on the stool waiting until Billy brought two glasses and set the orange juice on the table.
“You guys have a lot of energy for a Monday morning.” You hummed when they shook their heads innocently.
“Nu-uh, just…America told us she would take us to the lake.” Tommy said shrugging.
“And, we haven’t said anything about…you know.” Billy mumbled looking around the room before settling his eyes on you, “so we thought you would be happy to know we will be out of your hair today!”
You chuckled ruffling his hair affectionately, setting your coffee on the table while serving the orange juice to the boys.
They had grown a great deal and now at seven they were far smarter than you or even Wanda gave them credit for. Three years ago, you never thought possible to fall in love again, nor did you thought whatever started as a tentative relationship would end up being the best that happened to you. You glanced at the boys that started talking animatedly while mentioning the different places America and Kate were supposed to taken them to, you smiled knowing your sister adored them and was about ready to do whatever they wanted as long as she got to spend some time to them.
You sighed leaning against the counter taking a long sip from the coffee, in the last years a lot of things had changed in your life. America had finally found her passion, she had decided to pursue a career in international affairs and her path led her directly into one of the most important universities in Europe, which ended up with Kate studying a couple of miles away from her. Whatever had started as a school crush, it had developed into a serious relationship that both of them had dealt with maturity.
You had finally gotten the time you needed to organise the business, and while your presence was always required when important matters arise, you had taken it upon yourself to be in charge of the development section of the company. It was easier, and it gave you the time you needed to spend with Wanda and the children.
The sound of childish argument brough a smile into your face, soon you caught the well-known voice of your girlfriend and your heat melt right away when Wanda appeared behind the hall wearing a familiar frown while placing her hands on her hips.
“Okay, you two, stop this argument right now or there won’t be any outing with America.”
“Yes, mum!” The twins said at the same time focusing on their beverages.
You locked your eyes with Wanda, your lips curling into a smile while the woman softened completely making her way to where you were standing casually. She leaned in pecking your lips while stealing your mug.
“Morning.” You whispered wrapping your arm around her hips, she giggled leaning forward before accepting a deeper kiss.
“Ugh, mom!”
“Y/N!”
You finished the kiss turning to them, “I will hold you to this moment when you guys bring over your partners home and decided to kiss them in front of us.”
“No!”
“Never!”
“I would never be this corny!”
“Never!”
You chuckled rolling your eyes, Wanda leaned in kissing you one more time before going to the coffee maker and serving another cup of coffee. You glanced at your watch knowing America would be there any moment now, your heart beating a tad bit faster while the heavy void you had felt on your lower abdomen increased and your chest tightened at what you had planned for the day.
Tommy and Billy glanced at one another before placing their hands on their mouth and snickering, you mock glared at them and the sudden exchanged didn’t go amiss to Wanda. The young woman narrowed her eyes standing right beside you.
“Okay, what is it?” She asked, and her suspicions only grew when the three of you answered at the same time.
“Nothing!”
You glanced at the twins, the three of you started laughing while Wanda softened her features. Even if she got curious, and a little wary, she couldn’t help but love these moments in which you and the twins would behave like a family. Once she had given in, you became the light of her life, your smile and your occurrences were always a source of amusement and tenderness, and the twins had come to love you in ways Wanda thought would be difficult to do so. They accept you faster than what she thought, and ever since that day after the planetarium you and her had been together in the good, the bad, the ugly and the pretty.
“You guys…” Wanda started but whatever she was going to say was cut short by a knock on the door.
“Save by the bell, guys! That must be America, love.” You gave Wanda a quick peck on her lips before running towards the door, once more the twins looked at one another before holding back their snickers.
“Okay, what is it?”
“Nu-uh, mom, it’s a secret!” Tommy said emptying the glass in a single sip.
“We promised not to say anything, mom.” Billy continued shrugging before approaching Wanda and offering her a hug, “but I love you!”
Wanda narrowed her eyes hugging Billy back, “I love you too, both of you.”
“Hey!! Where are my favourite guys in the whole world?!”
America stretched her arms to welcome Billy and Tommy, Kate rolled her eyes moving past them with a smile to greet Wanda. Wanda chuckled when their attention turned to Kate, America approached her wrapping her arms around the young woman.
“Ugh, I missed you so much, Wands! How’s everything? My sister still giving you trouble?”
“Hey! I never gave her any trouble, did I?” You pouted standing beside Wanda, the other woman shook her head putting you closer to her.
“Never, my love, you are a well-behaved girlfriend whenever you and the twins are not playing to break havoc.” Wanda pecked your lips turning to America. “Everything is perfect, but I have a feeling my girlfriend and my sons are planning something I should know about.”
This times around America opened her eyes with her mouth hanging opened, Kate gasped and the twins put their hands on their mouths. You snorted rolling your eyes, with this level of secrecy it was a surprised Wanda had not really discovered what you had planned for her that day.
“No, I mean there is no…Oh, look at the time, guys are you ready?” Kate babbled looking around while trying to evade any interaction with Wanda who had her eyes on her.
America snorted softening her stare while her girlfriend took the twins to their room, she then turned to Wanda who had a single eyebrow lifted waiting for an explanation she would not receive. At least, not from America.
“Don’t look at me, I’m just a passerby ready to take the twins on an adventure of a lifetime.” She said lifting her arms, Wanda snorted turning to you.
“You know, sooner or later I will find out your secrets?”
“I’m counting on it, Wands.” You whispered leaning in to kiss her, “now, how about you go and take a bath and I help America around.”
Wanda nodded dreamily, she gave you a quick smile before turning to America and giving the young woman another hug.
“It is good to see you again, America, see you tonight at dinner, right?”
“Yeo, we will be there!” America glanced at Wanda walking away, she waited until she was pretty sure Wanda had left before turning to you. “Well?”
“Well? You’re the one who should tell me if everything is ready!” You whispered harshly at your sister glancing down the corridor before settling your eyes on America.
The young woman rolled her eyes, but her lips played a familiar smile while she tapped something on her phone. Soon you were giving a fine idea of what she had prepared with the help of Kate and your friends; it had been hard at first to get what you needed to make of that day special. Your face lit up completely, and America could see the ghost of a smile on your lips while your eyes scanned the images she had store on her phone.
When you first shared with America your intentions, the young woman had been excited. In the last couple of years, she had seen the love between you and Wanda grow in something completely different. It was not the same relationship you shared with Shuri, and certainly it wasn’t the same type of relationship Wanda had shared with Jarvis. The both of you had been the best that could happen to the other, Wanda had learnt to love and be love, to trust in herself while also trust in the affection others held for her. You learnt to let go and to actually trust in the person beside you, you got to see how Wanda was ready to be a part of your life without losing her own little universe with the twins.
It had been a rocky path, there were fights, and sometimes it was quite difficult to fight against the demons of the past. But, America knew, if it hadn’t been because of the deep love you two felt for one another, the relationship would have been over years ago.
“I think she will love it, and I’m just…” America trailed off before offering you a quick hug, “I think this is amazing.”
You sighed putting your hand inside your pocket, the squared box resting inside your pocket.
“Thank you, this looks amazing.” You glanced at the hall before turning to America, “at what time you think we can go over there?”
“Mmm, I would say the best would be around 4pm, we will be there waiting for you so…” America waved her hands excited, “God, I can’t hardly wait, please tell me if anything happens.”
“I will, Kiddo, thank you.” You wrapped your arms around her, “I really missed you.”
“I missed you too.” America chuckled when she caught the excited chatter of the twins and Kate coming over, “now, I will take them off of your plate for a while, we will have time to get up to date, for now, go!”
“Yes, ma’am.”
You watched as they left in the midst of laughter and light conversation, your hand sneaking inside your pocket putting out the black box you had bought a long time ago. Your heart skipped a beat, your hand clenching tightly around it ready to give the next step in your relationship with Wanda. Your lips broke into a tender smile, the memories of the last three years filling up your mind with determination and love.
“Y/N?”
You put the box away turning to see Wanda approaching you slowly, the swinging of her hips and that flirty smile she wore made your mouth go dry and your lower abdomen tingled with anticipation.
“Yes?” You asked, Wanda came to you chewing on her lower lip playfully.
“Since the kids are gone, and you and I are alone, I thought…we could shower together, don’t you think?” This was said in a low, husky tone, her lips wrapping around your earlobe while her hands sneaked inside your shirt.
“I think…you have a wicked mind, Wands.” You replied, but before Wanda could do or said anything else you took her in your arms crashing your lips to hers.
Needless to say, you and she left the home later than what you should, but the both of you had satiated the thirst you had for one another.  Love evident in your faces, as you walked around the city hand by hand.

The country of Sokovia was a beautiful land with a rich past and a colourful landscape.
Wanda had been excited when you announced the trip, not really believing you were going to comply with her wishes until you present her with the four plane tickets. By the time you four had arrived at the city of Novi Grad, Wanda had been completely excited telling you and her children all about her hometown. She spoke of the difficult times they had lived, and the wonderful things the new government had done to fix the mistakes of the past.
Billy and Tommy had been avid listeners, and they had started talking to Wanda and to you in sokovian while Wanda was just completely happy with the development on their vacations. You had been just happy to see her smile, to see the excitement in her eyes when she pointed to all the places she remembered.
“I still can believe you brought me here.” Wanda said sitting down on the table right outside a beautiful balcony looking at the far away mountains covering half of the city.
“Why not?” You replied taking the menu with a smile, “if anything, I should be sorry for taking so long, but you know? Life has been getting in the way, and I wanted for you to have time to enjoy this place.”
Wanda didn’t know how you did it, the way you were always giving it your all to make her happy. She leaned forward placing her hand on top of yours.
“This is perfect, and it’s the perfect time.”
You smiled back at her, looking at the menu while glancing at the watch on your wrist. You were getting restless as the time for the main event approached; Wanda was looking at her menu pursing her lips before returning her attention to you.
“Can I order something for you? There is something in here I want you to try out…” She trailed off glancing away for a moment, a shadow crossing her eyes, “it is something mom used to cook for me and Pietro and I just…”
“I would love to, Wands. Go ahead, you’re the expert so we will do as you said.” You replied closing the menu, you waited until the food had been ordered before leaning forward playing with Wanda’s fingers.
“You know? Now that you mentioned this about the food, I remember the story you told me once.”
“Which one?” Wanda furrowed her brows blinking away while trying to remember.
“The one about the forest, is around here, isn’t it?”
The way her eyes opened wide, and her whole face lit up made your heart skipped a beat. You couldn’t take your eyes off of her as she turned around trying to point out the direction in which the forest was located.
“Yes! Oh, I can believe you remember…”
“I remembered everything you tell me, love.” You replied, and it was the tone of voice you used what made Wanda turned to you with narrowed eyes, you softened your features offering a reassuring smile to her.
“I always make the effort to have it in my mind so I can make sure to bring happiness to you, to see the very same expression you are wearing at the moment.”
Wanda turned her head away, her cheeks burning bright red while she smiled tenderly at your words. Even after all this time you still got to make her feel so self-conscious of the love you profess to her.
“I love you for that.” Wanda finally said, and you smiled back at her winking.
“Well, what about you and I go over there after lunch? I’m pretty sure at this time of the year must be quite the sight.”
“You mean it?” Wanda exclaimed excitedly, you nodded and soon thank the heavens you were sitting down for the kiss she gave you made your knees trembled and your whole body tingled with anticipation.
******
The afternoon was falling slowly, the wind was cold so the burning sun above your heads was not as strong as it could have been in a dry weather.
You and Wanda walked down the city, your hand joined in a single embrace while conversation flew with easiness. The topics varied from school, to your work, to the recent happenings of the world, to the twins and America; soon you two found yourselves talking about movies and books, the places you would like to visit or the worlds you would like to be in.
Life with Wanda was never bored, and every single time you discovered something new about her that made you fall in love with her even more.
Her excitement at being in her country was something you would cherish forever.
She dragged you down the streets, and then down the pebbled road leading to the forest. The place had changed since she was last there, it was now a national park that had been taken care off with the strictest rules and cares a country could provide to such a beautiful setting.
You took a deep breath when the road spread before your eyes, your eyes lifted to the signs, most of them pointing to different sections of the forest. Your eyes finally fell on the word Lake, and you lifted your hand to point it out to your girlfriend.
“There, lake, can we go there?”
“Yes, of course!”
You chuckled when she just grabbed your hand again, she twirled around wrapping her arms around your neck leaning in to kiss you slowly.
“Have a told you how much I love you?” She asked playfully, you placed your hands on her waist helping her walked backwards while you advanced down the road with her in your arms.
“Mmhm, not recently, no. I think I need a reminder.”
Wanda giggled leaning in, her kisses were soft and tentative, “I love you, Y/N, every time I think this is not possible, I fall in love with you even more and I just…”
Your heart shrank at her confession, putting her to you with your lips moulding against hers you poured all the love you felt for her.
“I love you to, Wands.”
Wanda sighed standing by your side lifting her face to the trees above her, her eyes gleaming happily just as the both of you advanced towards the lake. The forest was located it twenty minutes away from the city, and the entrance had been built around a public parking lot where people could acquire all the necessary materials for camping or a nice picnic. Some of the different paths had been fixed to give easy access to the people that visit the place, but the road leading to the lake had been left untouched with the nature almost claiming it back.
You were admiring the huge trees surrounding the area, the sound of the birds and other animals running around to hide away from the humans. You lifted your stare to see the blue sky above your head, and the cold breeze touching your heated skin. Everything was quiet and peaceful, only the sound of your footsteps seemed to interrupt the sounds of the nature.
Your eyes lifted squinting them when you spot the opening right ahead of you, your lips curling slightly when you finally spotted something else. You had arrived to the lake, with a quick gesture you stood before Wanda stopping her advanced towards her destination.
“What is it?” Just like she did early in the morning, she narrowed her eyes with a glint of suspicion gleaming in them. You shifted your weigh from one foot to the other, your hand scratching the back of your neck while your eyes danced around instead of facing Wanda.
You stood before her, your hand sneaking inside your pocket until you brough forth a single blindfold. She cocked a brow, half-amused, half-expectant at what you had planned.
“I may or may not have planned something for you.” You said tentatively, Wanda snorted but all you could see in her face was love and amusement.
“Figures, and I bet Billy, Tommy, America and Kate are in it?” She already knew the answer, but there was something else she couldn’t pinpoint to.
“Yep.” You admitted lifting your hand, “there is something… I mean, it is a surprised.”
“And I have to wear the blindfold.” Wanda grabbed the piece of clothing, never losing her smile, she winked at you, “kinky, perhaps later on we can use it for other…kind of surprised?”
You laughed out loud shaking your head while helping the brunette put on the blindfold.
“I love how your wicked mind works, Mrs. Maximoff.”
“Well, I love it when you play along, Mrs. Y/L/N.”
You let out a deep breath, the sun was still high in the sky and now Wanda stood before you blindfolded. Her hand found yours, squeezing comfortingly with that beautiful smile you had come to love and crave.
“Are you okay?” She finally asked, you swallowed down your doubts nodding before you remembered she couldn’t see you.
“I am.” Then, as an afterthought, “I’m just nervous.”
Wanda brought your hand to her lips, never losing her smile.
“Whatever it is you prepared for me, I know I would love it and…Y/N…there is no one else I would love to be with right now, you are the love of my life.”
You chuckled loving the tenderness Wanda used when talking to you, the fact she had come to know your insecurities and was always ready to reassure you of her love and your worth.
“And you are mine, Wands, now let’s go…”
You grabbed her hand and without wasting any more time you led her down the road towards the lake.
The lake was a great extension of water that spread out before a small beach surrounded by the forest. It was filled with grass, trees and bushes, with a crystalline water that was reflecting the light of the sun and the colour of the sky at the moment. This part of the forest was usually used for light lunches, and some swimming but at this time of the year the place was emptied and you had taken advantage of your money to get this small spot for you and your family for a couple of hours.
There was a single bench that had been decorated with red and pink, there were some balloons with a bucket filled with ice and wine. You helped your girlfriend so she could sit on the bench, all around her there was nothing more than flowers, blue lilies and orchids, the full scene had been planned out and built with the help of America and Kate that had just come from their hiding place with the twins.
You smiled at them putting a finger to your lips, standing before Wanda you pulled your mobile out of your pocket and let a single song filled the silence around the both of you.
“Oh, that’s…” Wanda trailed off when she recognized the trumpets and the melodic voice of Elle Fitzgerald. “Y/N…”
Your name sound beautifully on her lips, you took a deep breath looking around the place knowing you had chosen right. The lake was gleaming to your right, while the forest stood to your left, the mountains wearing a white bald head projected a protective shadow on the valley. This was what Wanda had always desired, what she had harboured in her heart when she still believed in love.
“Y/N…” She repeated your name, this time around with a hint of apprehension in her voice.
You knelt before her, your left knee touching the ground while your right knee bend to hold your elbow up your hand opening the box you had been carrying with you for over a year.
“You can take the blindfold off, Wanda.” You finally said, and your voice trembled with the sheer emotion you were experimenting at the moment.
Wanda took her blindfold, soon her breath caught in her throat and whatever sight she had before her became a blurred of colours and familiar images. Right in front of her was the lake and the forest of her childhood, the very same she had visited in her mind and memory after leaving Sokovia behind. Her green eyes flickered around until they found your eyes, and soon they fell upon the box in your hand and the silver ring resting in there.
The music was still playing around the both of you, and Wanda wanted to see if there was someone else or if the both of you were alone. But she was incapable of looking everywhere but at you.
Your lips trembled, your hand trying to hold still as you cleared your throat lifting your chin to face her with determination and love.
“Wanda Maximoff, I have brought you here because I love you.” You stated taking a deep breath making sure you never wavered in your intentions. “I realized a long time ago I can’t even think of the possibility of not having you by my side, of not living and growing old with you.”
Wanda sat frozen on the bench, her heart hammering hard against her chest while her stomach drop and her body tingled all over until a heavy pressured settled on her chest.
“I have loved you from the moment I met you, I just didn’t know it yet.” You chuckled shaking your head, “and I would love to make you happy, to love you, to cherish you, and to be your friend, your partner if you allow me…so, today in this place and with my heart on my hands, I want to ask you…”
“Yes…” Wanda whispered, you furrowed your brows shaking your head.
“No, wait, I need to ask…”
“Marry me?” Wanda asked, her voice trembling and her lips breaking into a content smile, you frowned though your eyes gleamed with amusement.
“No, you marry me, please?”
Wanda threw herself at you, her arms wrapped tightly around you while you fell to the ground hugging her back. She was sobbing, her voice a mere whispered in your ear.
“Yes, yes, I will…Yes, I marry you.”
You laughed turning your head and kissing her deeply.
“Then, yes, I marry you too, Wands.”
America and Kate both rolled their eyes, but the twins were squealing excitedly no longer able to hold themselves the run towards you and Wanda joining in the embrace.
Wanda turned to them surprised, returning their hug while turning to you and stretching her left hand where you placed the ring on her finger. Your smile was huge, and it was matching hers with the twins hugging both of you while talking excitedly.
“That means I can call you mom now?!” Tommy finally asked with you almost choking on your spit.
Wanda rolled her eyes fixing his hair before lifting her eyes to glance at you.
“Only if she wants to, Tommy.”
“You want to, don’t you, Y/N?” Tommy asked pouting, you ruffled his hair putting him to you.
“Only if I get to call you Tommy bear!”
Laughter soon filled the lake, with everyone enjoying the rest of the afternoon while you alongside with Kate, America and Wanda toast to the engagement.
“I can believe you…” Wanda closed the distance tilting her head to taste your lips with hers, you smile into the kiss with your hands placing themselves on her hips.
“You remember…” She said softly, in between kisses.
“I never forgot, Wands. With you, everything is easier, you know? I love you, and I just…I want to make you happy.”
“You make me happy already.” She replied leaning into your embrace, “but I will be complete the moment I can call you my wife.”
You smiled placing a single kiss on her forehead.
“I will be complete the moment I can call you wife as well.”
Wanda turned in your arms, her eyes following her children while they talked and played along with America and Kate. You placed your chin on her shoulder, watching the same scene with a soft smile adorning your features. The young woman lifted her hand to see the ring you had placed moments ago, a green stone that matched her eyes and white gold recovering the ring.
Her life was finally hers, and her happiness was finally something she knew she deserved and that was right there for her to live it. Wanda never imagined the moment she made the decision of leaving Vision her life would change so drastically, she never even played with the idea of falling in love again or finding someone ready to be patient with her past and fall in love with her.
Wanda never entertained the idea of anyone wanting to marry someone like her, damage and with two kids that were still growing up. Then, she met you. And she couldn’t imagine being without you by her side.
With you, she learnt to love again, to trust and to give herself without fear.
“Tonight, America and Kate are taking the twins to a festival and then back to their Air BnB so…we have the house for ourselves, to celebrate.” You whispered playfully, Wanda leaned back placing her hands on yours.
She tilted her head with her lips teasing yours.
“Then, let’s celebrate with them first, before I show you my appreciation for all the wonderful things you do for me.”
“It’s a deal, Love.”
“Y/N.” She called your name with a serious tone, you turned to her welcoming her kiss before smiling goofily at her.
“What was that for?”
“I love you.” She said simply, you softened squeezing her hand comfortingly.
“I love you, now and forever.”
And, of that, Wanda didn’t have any doubt for she too love you now and forever, until the end of time.

Charlie can't sleep all night even though she realizes that she is tired. It's almost noon but she didn't have the strength to get up yet and face everyone. Millions of thoughts are running through her mind. How could she say that to her dad? He was just trying to help. She didn't mean it. It was just in the heat of the moment. She doesn't really think that, right? She loves her dad. It's just not fair. That's no excuse. Wrong. Wrong Wrong. She's sorry. So so very sor-
Vaggie: Babe?
Charlie turns to the door and sees her girlfriend.
Vaggie: How are you feeling?
Charlie: Like I'm the worst daughter ever.
Vaggie comes to sit with her in the bed and hugs her lover as she starts to cry again.
Charlie: Why did I say that to him, Vaggie? He was just trying to help me. If it was any one of you, I would've done the same and made you rest.
Vaggie purses her lips, unsure of what to say.
Vaggie: Why don't you eat something first.
Charlie: is- is he down there?
Vaggie: I-
Before Vaggie could answer, Razzle enters the room in a hurry, gesturing wildly for them to come down. They both run to the lobby following the familiar.
Charlie expected another demon out to cause trouble in the hotel but it was-
Charlie: Aunt Bel?!
It was the Sin of Sloth, Belphegor, standing at the center of the lobby. The other guests watch in apprehension as Alastor's black tentacles are somewhat showing.
Charlie approaches her aunt slowly and notices that despite still upholding the regal stature, the bags under their eye are more prominent than before. The Sin gives a slight bow.
Belphegor: Princess. Your father was not at the palace. I would like to speak to him. Urgently.
Charlie: Oh um. Yes, he's here. He's in his room.
She beckons Razzle to fetch her father.
Charlie: Is something wrong?
Belphegor hesitates but doesn't answer.
Lucifer arrives downstairs the next moment.
Charlie sees the wet look in her father's eyes. Like he's been crying. Of course, he was. She knows her dad. He's her dad-
Charlie tries to catch her dad's gaze but he doesn't so much glance at her direction.
Lucifer: Bel.
The Sin of Sloth gives a deeper bow to her king.
Belphegor: Your Majesty. If I could borrow you for a moment down in Sloth. There is a... situation.
Lucifer adjusts his stance. None of the sins ever called him by anything other than his name before. That is unless there is something wrong or they fucked up big time.
Lucifer: And you went all the way from Sloth?
Belphegore: I- I do not feel it to be wise to discuss this matter over the phone.
That wasn't cryptic at all for the hotel residents.
Lucifer waves for her to come closer and she whispers something into his ear. Everyone was holding their breath.
As soon as she's done, Lucifer and her start moving.
Lucifer: I will be in Sloth. Alastor.
Alastor appears in a wave of shadows to his side.
Alastor: Yes, sire?
Lucifer: I will be unreachable until I resolve this. I'm sure you can handle keeping an eye on the hotel?
Alastor grins.
Alastor: I would be offended if you weren't.
Charlie: Wait! Dad! Please, can we talk before you leave?
Lucifer: Char-ch-
He stops himself and takes a deep breath.
Lucifer: Sorry, Charlie. We'll talk after.
Lucifer gives his daughter a small smile and squeezes her hand.
Husk: What the fuck was that?
Charlie could only stare as her father and aunt disappeared in a portal to the Sloth ring.
Charlie: I don't know.

Note: Hiii, as I said I didn't take as long as last time; next post should be this week because this is a two-parter. For that same reason she's a lil short. I am so thankful for all of the love, interaction and the warm welcome back. I am very grateful and I appreciate you all so much. I hope you enjoy this chapter of watching our babies work their way back, celebrate a big day, and grow as a couple. A big change is coming. Also there's sexual content in this one so feel free to skip that portion and ask me any questions about what nonsexual information happened during it for clarification. This symbol: * indicates the beginning and end of that section. Thank you so much again, and feel free to interact, I love hearing thoughts from you guys! (Constructively, pls I'm sensitive lol) :)
Warnings: Explicit Content (MDNI FR I'm not playing), sexual content, strong language, anxiety
“So what’re you gonna say?”
Lip shrugs lightly as his blue eyes follow his thumb’s travels along Charlotte’s neck, lips parting with wonder as he drinks in the glow on her skin from the morning light seeping in, big brown eyes offering him warmth and adoration that he can’t get from anywhere else. “That I uh…won’t actually knock his head off.”
Charlotte purses her lips in thought, resting her hand over his, leaning into him. “Okay, that’s good-”
“As long as he stays the fuck away from my wife.” he finishes, reaching under the blankets and dragging her leg over his body. “That’s you by the way.”
“Is it?” she hums, climbing over him fully before nudging his nose with her own. “We sure?”
“Yeah,” he sighs against her lips before finally closing the space between them. “‘M pretty fuckin’ sure.”
“Good.”
The last few days have been rough. Threats of breaking up left some lingering weariness and anger between the couple. Lip was apologetic but still prideful, Charlotte was forgiving but still withholding. They were nursing wounds together. And it’s working. Their joint solution was simple. They need to be together. Everything else was secondary. Whatever they needed to do to make this work, it’s exactly what they’re going to do. So stay in the room together, deal with family later. They’d basically ghosted her parents. Call out of work for a couple days. Focus on being Phillip and Charlotte. Together.
Lip was tiptoeing. Scared to bring anything up that could dismantle what they were managing to rebuild. But her dad’s words, lingering thoughts of sickness plague him as he holds her in his arms at night. Suddenly, every shiver, every sniffle, every groan as she rolls over in the middle of night makes his heart fall to his ass. But he can’t rock the boat. Not yet. He just needs to…work for it. Get to a point where she trusts him enough to tell him. He can wait.
Charlotte gasps into the air as Lip rolls her underneath him, pressing open-mouthed kisses along the column of her neck. Her fingers dig into his golden curls, her legs closing around his waist as she pushes up to be pressed against him. “Phillip, you’re gonna be late-”
“‘M’not, don’t worry about it.”
*
The woman whimpers as large hands slip down her hips, fingers hooking into her underwear, yelping a little when she’s yanked upward roughly so the fabric can be tugged down her legs. “It’s…already 8:10…it’s-”
“Hey,” Lip calls sternly, one hand going back to her face, grabbing her jaw tightly enough to force her eyes to his, the other continuing its journey between her legs. “You want me to make you feel good, Bunny?”
“Y-yes-”
“Yes?”
“Yes, Phillip, I want you to make me feel good.”
“Know you do,” he hums, patronizingly pushing his thumb into the dimple on her cheek. “So lay back, and let me.” Lip finishes with a searing kiss on her lips before dragging his way down her body, pushing one hand underneath her shirt, massaging her breast as he uses his shoulders to nudge her legs completely apart.
As Charlotte feels his mouth against her she panics, the cry she lets out is muffled by her hand flailing out, grabbing a pillow and putting it over her face.
Lip licks a solid strip up her slit before pressing several kisses against her clit, slowing when his ears aren’t picking up the cries he lives for, confused considering he could feel her legs shaking by his head. His eyes trail up to find Charlotte smothering herself in effort to stifle her sounds and he’s immediately annoyed, hand coming down to slap her thigh. “Hey. Uh uh, fix that.”
A whine fills the air and he chuckles as he feels the soft pillow come down on his head before falling to the floor. “Don’t wanna be loud-”
“You know better.” he laughs, tugging her further down the bed and bringing her closer to his mouth, moaning himself at her sweet taste.
Charlotte’s fingers flex as she grips at nothing, whimpering as he doubles his administrations, the pressure building even more now that piercing blue eyes are trained on her. “Fu-fuckin’ help me.”
Lip’s eyes roll before he reaches up, grabbing her wrist and guiding her hands down to his hair, encouraging her to tug at it and groaning against her when she does. “Taste so fuckin’ good. Fuckin’ perfect. You’re just fuckin’ perfect aren’t you?”
“Oh, fuck, Phillip-”
“Watch your mouth.” he grunts, slapping her thigh again. “You’re perfect. Say it, baby.”
“M’not perfect. I love you-”
“S’not what I told you to say-” he growls, pulling away and fixing her with a warning look, lips and chin glistening. Charlotte huffs, tugging his hair again, moaning louder as her toes flex.
“‘M’gonna cum, I want you to fuck me-”
“Say you’re perfect and I will.” Lip pulls away from her fully, untwining her fingers from his hair and watching her grow more frustrated, reaching for him to no avail. He climbs over her then, hovering over her as he runs his thumb over her bottom lip, guiding her mouth open, dipping his finger in before gathering some spit into his mouth and spitting it into hers, groaning when she swallows it obediently. “Charlotte.”
“I’m perfect. I love you. Please fuck me.”
Lip settles then, leaning his weight down onto her, groaning as he pushes into her, letting his head fall next to hers, pressing his mouth close to her ear. “You’re perfect, baby. My fuckin’...I fuckin’ live for you. I love you…happy birthday.”
The couple sets a steady rhythm then, one that they’ve grown used to over their time together but something about this time was different. The touches felt more desperate and needy. They both noticed it, but didn’t want to break the bubble they created by addressing it. But they could tell. Charlotte wraps her arms around him that much tighter, hand cupping the back of his head, legs locked around his waist in a vice, she arches to make sure she’s pressed against him as much as their movements will allow.
Lip is the same, one arm around her waist to hold her close, switching between being in her ear, groaning every bit of filth, every promise, every praise he can think of, and resting his forehead against hers, demanding she look at him, maintaining eye contact to remind himself its her. She’s here, and he’s with her again.
“I…I’m…Phillip-”
“Go ahead, baby. Cum for me, Bunny. Cum on my dick, baby.”
Charlotte bites down on his shoulder as she cums, curling into him and crying out. Lip moans as she contracts around him, keeping his thrusts steady until he feels two wet drops on his skin. He nudges her back onto the pillows to look at her face, slowing to a stop when he finds her with large, watery eyes. “I’m…I love you, Bubba.”
Fuck.
Fuck.
Fuck.
That’s all he can think. That’s all he feels. For multiple reasons. The first is the embarrassing fact that he somehow got impossibly harder from the knowledge that the woman underneath him just came around him, crying from how much she loves him. The second the humiliating fact that he was blinking back the moisture from his own eyes because even though he’s never been the religious type, he’s finding himself thanking whoever is running shit upstairs for making sure 20 years ago today, Victor and Cynthia Fisher fucked and made this fucking angel for him. And the third being the realization that Ian was right. He didn’t doubt him, but  with everything that happened, it was clear. He’ll never be in love with anyone else. If he doesn’t keep Charlotte, he’ll never have another chance. She’s it.
He’s shaken from his thoughts with a soft hand on his cheek. “I’m okay, baby. Keep going. I’m okay.”
Lip nods absently, brows softened, jaw clenched as he tries to keep the flood of emotions in. Resting his forehead against hers as he thrusts into her deeply, moaning softly.
“C’mon, Phillip, I love you, I want you to feel good too. I want you to cum too.” Charlotte whispers, running her fingers through his hair, tightening her legs around him, rolling up to meet him. “I want you to cum in me…I want you to give me your baby.”
That’s…a new development.
And fuck everything else Lip was embarrassed to admit to himself before.
Nothing can top how absolutely ashamed he is at how hard he came to that statement.
Who the fuck is he?
*
“‘Okay, bye, baby.” Lip pats Charlotte’s ass as he kisses her before slinging his backpack over his shoulder. “Uh, be ready when I get home, alright? Happy birthday, princess.”
“‘Kay.” Charlotte chirps, bouncing on the balls of her feet, offering him a bright smile as he heads out. The wooden door slides shut and immediately she’s screaming, running over to the couch and tossing herself onto it. “I want to have your baby?! What the fuck? Charlotte you’re so fuckin’ stupid!” she whines.
In her anxiety induced wailing, she doesn’t hear V and Fiona coming in the back door, cases of beer and boxed wine tucked under their arms. The two older women exchange concerned looks before slowly approaching the thrashing girl. “It’s like this every other day, hey! What the hell is wrong with you?”
“I ruined my life!” Charlotte screams, kicking one of the pillows off of the couch.
“Okay…” Fiona sighs, grabbing a beer for herself and V, passing it over Charlotte’s head. “Scoot. What happened?”
Charlotte looks up at Fiona and then over to V and shakes her head. “Can’t tell you. You’ll…like…throw up or something and she’s gonna hit me.”
“I’m not gonna throw up and I doubt V will hit you-”
“Might.” the older cousin shrugs, lifting her little cousin’s legs and plopping them onto her lap as she sits on the couch. Fiona fixes her with wide eyes and V huffs. “I won’t hit you. Probably.”
Charlotte narrows her eyes skeptically, but sits up nonetheless. It’s not like she would be any less embarrassed telling anyone else. “Well, this morning, Phillip and I were…uh…”
“Fucking?”
“Oh, god.” Fiona flinches, shaking her head in disgust.
“It’s my birthday!”
“Oh yuck-”
“So what?” V asks, pushing the girl’s hair out of her face. “Was it bad?”
“No.” Charlotte murmurs, wrapping her arms around herself, pouting a little. “It was…good. But, I got caught up in the moment and…said something.”
“Something? If you were screwing, I’m pretty sure my brother would like whatever you said as long as it wasn’t another man’s name. And even then he might tolerate it.”
“Is that what you did?” V says around her beer bottle, taking a swig. “Call him some guys name? Daddy? Bitch? Slu-”
“I told him I wanted him to give me his baby.” Charlotte blurts, dropping her face to her knees in embarrassment.
Both older women immediately panic, Fiona tossing question after question at Charlotte. All of which were some variation of ‘are you pregnant’ and ‘are you using protection’. V takes the initiative of shooting off of the couch and flinging open the door to Charlotte and Lips’ room, yanking open the doors until she finds Charlotte’s birth control pills and starts counting, sighing in relief when she sees the girl is on track.  “I’m not actually trying to get pregnant, I…just said it, it was a spur of the moment type of thing, it just slipped out!”
“Girl, it better be.” V breathes heavily. “You just turned 20 today, you still don’t eat the crust on sandwiches, do not get pregnant, understand?”
“I understand.”
“Good.” V sighs, running a hand over her face and watching Fiona flop back against the couch. “Now that that’s over…let’s go to breakfast for your birthday.”
“Fuckin’ shit.”
Lip’s pissed. Like more than usual. He huffs to himself as he flicks his half smoked cigarette to the ground, stomping it out. Part of being with Charlotte meant trying to quit smoking, so he was trying to work on it. Apparently, part of being with her also meant being a dad?
He hadn’t even thought of that. Like…in theory, he fuckin’ loved the idea. He married her because he loves her and he wanted them to be a family. That included his siblings. They were kind’ve his kids and by association, hers. Does it make him happy to watch her play with Debbie? Help Carl with his homework? Bounce Liam on her hip? Abso-fuckin-lutely, she’s fuckin’ precious, he loves that shit.
Would it be fuckin’ sexy to see her have physical evidence that she belonged to him? Watching her waddle around with his kid, carrying something that;s exactly half him half her? Hot as hell.
But right now? They’re fuckin’ barely not absolutely broke right now. He’s been saving up for somethin’ big. A baby would throw all of that off. And he’s going to beg to keep his job. How can they raise a kid in these conditions? He’s still fuckin’ raising Frank and Monica’s. She hasn’t even told him about her having health conditions. Would that affect her getting pregnant? Would it affect a potential baby? He hopes she can wait. She has to. She will, right? Fuck.
He also is literally haunted by the last time he’d thought he was a dad. That was…fucking cruel to be honest. And Charlotte is definitely no Karen, but Lip doesn’t know if he’s ready for that. She’ll…she’ll wait. She loves him. She’ll wait.
The man straightens, pushing open the doors to the large office building, nodding to the security guard before getting in the elevator, taking it to his floor. Gritting his teeth he prepares to see that fuckin’ prick again. Eric, the punk bitch who’s been sniffin’ behind Charlotte since he saw her picture. Peppy ass daddy’s boy who signs his paychecks. Jesus, he needed to get these thoughts out of his system before he reached his office.
Fuckin’ bitch. Pussy.
Lip sighs, shaking out his shoulders as he rounds the corner to Eric’s office. Alright, I’m done.
Limp dick, pussy chasin’, no life motherfucker.
Now. Now, I’m done.
Lip’s jaw muscle jumps as he pushes Eric’s office door open, trying to make this as quick and painless as he can for himself. “Hey man, I…uh, know things were tense the other night, but uh, I’m…not really gonna knock your head off.” He goes to turn out of the room and can’t help himself, peeking his head back in, addressing the desk chair facing away from him, “Unless you keep trying to hit on my wife. Back off. Uh, okay, gonna go back to work-”
“Mr. Gallagher.” a voice calls to him before he can leave the room. It’s deep, and sounds like it came from an older man. Lip stops in his tracks, brows furrowing as he re enters the room.
“Uh…yeah?”
The man turns in his chair, dramatically in a way that has Lip fighting not to roll his eyes and reveals himself to in fact be a sharply dressed, gray haired version of Eric.
“Eric Preston-Scottlyn. So you’re the intern who threatened my son?” the older man asks, pushing out of the seat and leaning against Eric’s desk, nodding toward another chair for Lip to take a seat. The blond quietly moves to the chair, staring up at the older man cautiously.
“Yeah. That was me.”
“I see.” the older man reaches back into the desk, grabbing a cigar and looking at Lip expectantly.
“Oh, fuck, sure.” Lip digs in his pocket, pulling out his lighter and offering it to the man. “Look, I uh, need this job. I just got married and I’ve got like, a hundred siblings I take care of. That shit with Eric was…it won’t happen again.”
“So long as my son doesn’t speak to your wife again.” the older man chuckles, blowing his smoke carelessly, ignoring Lip’s light cough. “Well, that shouldn’t be a problem for Junior. Considering I’m promoting him.”
Lip swallows back his scoff as he rolls his tongue in his cheek. Nodding, he bites his tongue. Of course the spoiled little rich boy is getting promoted for the work Lip has been doing for him. “Fuckin’ good for Eric.”
“You’re happy for him?” the man asks in disbelief.
“Indifferent.”
The older man chuckles, blowing out more smoke. “Makes sense. You must be proud of where your work has gotten him.” he leans back, putting out the cigar in the ashtray and crossing his legs as he faces Lip again. Lip’s eyes widen slightly as he schools the rest of his expression, “Mr. Gallagher, I am not an idiot. I know my son’s capabilities. And I’ve noticed they miraculously increased the moment you were hired. My son needs to actually learn how to do something now, develop at least a few skills he can do without someone bolstering him. So he’ll need to learn under my close supervision.”
“Fuckin’ bullshit.” Lip blurts.
“Excuse me?”
Lip tries not to say it, he does, but his impulse control has always been some shit. “It’s fuckin’ bullshit, that Eric doesn’t know how to do shit and you fuckin’ know that I’ve been doing his goddamn work and he’s the one getting fuckin’ promoted-”
“So are you.”
Fuckin’- “What?”
Mr. Scottlyn claps his hands together. “You’re right. I know you’ve been doing his work. You’re capable, Mr. Gallagher. You’re quick and intelligent. Dedicated. So, I’m giving you Eric’s position, if you want it. Which I assume you do, considering your…socioeconomic position.”
Fuck you. But he’s right. This is amazing. “Okay…okay, cool. I’m-thanks.”
“You’re quite welcome. I have big expectations for you, Mr. Gallagher. You remind me of me when I was your age. Minus the obvious anger issues and baggage.”
“Uh…thanks again?”
“You’ll start tomorrow. Bright and early.” the older man grabs his cellphone off of his desk and pulls his suit jacket on. “Don’t embarrass me, Gallagher.”
And with that he leaves Lip alone…in his new office. Holy shit. Did something good just fuckin’ happen? He gets to keep his job…fuck that, he got promoted.
This new information makes a dangerous image flash into Lip’s mind, and he quickly shakes it away.
Huh. Today is full of new things.
Lip rolls his eyes as he jogs his way up the walkway of his house, seeing Frank approaching out of the corner of his eye. “Get the fuck away from me, Frank.”
“Is that any way to greet your father? We used to be so close, you and I, what has poisoned you, the fruit of my womb, against me?” his dad slurs, stumbling behind his eldest son, eyeing the bag in his hand.
“Fuckin’ christ.” Lip hisses, pushing the door open and trying to slam it behind him, only for Frank to slither his way in. “Don’t have time for your shit today.”
“I get it, I get it. You are a man now, you have responsibilities. Helping lead the house. Going to work. Making love to that delicious-”
“I’m serious, Frank, I’ll fuckin’ kill you.”
“Why are we killin’ Frank?” Ian asks as he makes his way into the room, taking a swig of a soda before flopping onto the couch. “Wifey’s across the street waitin’ on you. Don’t forget, tomorrow she’s with me.”
Frank’s brows furrow as he looks between his two sons. “No, I was pretty sure you were the gay one. Or is that Carl…?”
“Fuck off, Frank.”
“No respect.”
Lip tugs his work shirt off and starts shuffling through the pile of laundry Fiona had done to find something to change into. “I want her home in one piece, Ian, I’m fuckin’ serious. No drugs. Three drinks total. And no lettin’ Mickey pimp her out for free shit.”
“Okay, okay. Being married’s made you so fuckin’ serious.”
Lip just points his finger at his brother again before pulling on the shirt and sweater Charlotte had snuck and bought him for Christmas and pulling on a pair of jeans. The front door swings open and the sweet smell that follows his wife everywhere fills the room, so Lip immediately kicks the bag to the side behind the couch before taking in how she looks. “Baby, fuckin’ gorgeous. C’mere.”
Charlotte beams, her dress flouncing around her legs as she bounces her way into Lip’s open arms, meeting him in a deep kiss, humming when he pats her ass. “You look pretty too~” she sings.
“Ah, I know.” he scoffs, jokingly pushing her face from his as she squeezes his cheek. “Havin’ a good birthday? Yeah? Where the fuck is your jacket?”
“Don’t need one.”
“Fuck, you don’t,” he frowns, snatching his jacket from the pile of laundry and pushing her arms through the sleeves.
“Excuse me, kiddo, I know you’re a little distracted what with your wife’s womanly wiles, a struggle to which I deeply relate-”
“Frank-”
“Ew.” Charlotte mumbles, pulling her jacket tighter over herself.
“However, you all asked me to warn you next time CPS would be stopping by and I might have been indisposed recently because a brief stint because of a possession case, however, while I have been released, I believe there will be a surprise…visit…inspection for the welfare of the children, soon. And your welcome for warning you.”
Charlotte immediately whips her head to look at Lip, eyes wide with concern, she clutches the sleeves of his jacket. “Don’t worry, Bubba, we’ll fix it. I can start cleaning and you and Ian can start fixing stuff around the house, we’ll dip into some of the money and get extra groceries, and get the kids ready when they get home. I can text Fiona-”
“But…it’s your birthday.”
He doesn’t know if his heart swells or cracks when his wife shrugs. “Doesn’t matter, we have to take care of your family.”
You’re going to have to choose. I chose Cynthia. You can still choose your family.
Victor’s words flood Lip’s head as his eyes flick between Charlotte, the bag of stuff he got for her birthday on the floor and the mess of a house he and his siblings inhabit. He loves her so much. He wishes he wasn’t about to make her spend her 20th birthday preparing for a Child Protective Services visit. He wishes this wasn’t about to be her norm. He’s never not chosen them.
But Ian makes the choice for him.
“Nah, we got it.” the redhead shrugs, finishing the soda and pulling out his phone. “You guys go ahead, you can help later if there’s anything left for you to do. I’m gonna let everyone else know about Frank’s fuck up, and we’ll get this shit together. It’s not like they’re gonna come today. Wouldn’t be very random, then.”
Lip opens and closes his mouth, preparing to…thank him? Argue? He doesn’t know. But Ian doesn’t give him time. He picks up Lip’s bag and shoves it into his hands and starts pushing the couple toward the door.
Charlotte watches her husband out of the corner of her eye the entire bus ride. She was anxious to say the least. There are millions of thoughts flying around in her head, and she doesn’t know what to do with them. From her sex induced plea for a baby, to Lip’s meeting with his boss or his siblings possibly getting taken by CPS…again, she was a nervous wreck. And…also it's her birthday. And she keeps forgetting.
Breakfast with Fiona and V was great and she loved it. But she’d spent it in her head, wallowing about her slip of the tongue. After, she had something to look forward to, spending time with Lip when he got off work, he’d apparently planned a surprise for her. He wanted to be in charge of everything, down to her outfit. Last night he stood in front of her wardrobe looking clueless, grumbling to himself as he demanded that she stay in bed and ‘not look’ while he picks, finally settling on a dress that he’d given to V to tell her to wear later. But then she could only focus on how devastated he would be if he did lose his job. Or the hit his self-esteem would take if he had to beg Eric.
She hadn’t even realized how well he could read her face.
“Stop.” he says softly, smoothing his thumb over the line forming between her furrowed brows. “Stressin’ that pretty little head out. We’ll handle it.”
“Tell me somethin’ good.”
Lip nods, pushing her hair away from her neck, placing a kiss there before murmuring against her ear. “You look really beautiful, birthday girl.”
“Thank you. Somethin’ else?”
“Love you.” he says, placing another kiss before looking up to watch the stop they’re on.
“Love you more.” she hums.
“Bullshit.” he scoffs. “C’mon, this one’s us.” Lip helps her up, guiding her to walk in front of him, absently tugging her dress down over her ass a little to counter it riding up as she walks. The blond walks with his wife, their fingers intertwined, her spare hand busy picking at itself, her fingernails poking at her skin incessantly, nervously. As they walk down the block, Lip grows more frustrated, noticing that she’s so distracted she’s not even noticing where they are. “Okay. Stop. Let’s talk.”
Charlotte lets him pull her to a stop, standing before him. “Okay, lets.”
“What’s the problem?”
“I’m worried about your siblings.” she whines.
Lip runs a hand through his hair and takes a deep breath. “CPS comes like 3 times a year, we deal with it. They take ‘em or they don’t. They do? We go to court, get them back, a week, tops. They don’t, we move on until next time.”
“That’s awful.”
“The system sucks, princess, ‘m’glad you know nothin’ about it. But we know how to do this. It’ll be okay. And it's easier now that Ian and I are grown too. It’s gonna be okay.” Lip eyes her, bringing one hand to his lips and kissing it before prompting her to continue. “Next.”
“You’re job?”
“Was gonna save this for not your birthday, because it’s supposed to be about you, but I don’t want you to pick all of the skin off your fingers so…” he tugs her forward, digging his hand into the pocket of his jacket she’s wearing, producing a badge. “New badge.”
Charlotte squints at the title printed on the badge and her eyes widen. “Project manager? You got promoted?” A wide smile makes its way onto Charlotte’s face, and Lip matches it with his own smirk, gladly accepting the onslaught of kisses he receives all over his face as she squeals. “I’m so happy for you, bubba!”
“Thank you, bunny.” he smiles, kissing her lips twice before setting her back onto her own feet. “Last thing?”
Charlotte immediately looks away from him, rocking nervously on her heels. “I…this morning…I-”
“Words, baby.”
“I…said something, we’ve never really talked about before.” Lip’s eyes widen in acknowledgement and suddenly the words are falling out of her mouth like vomit. “I didn’t mean it! Not…ugh, I mean not now. I love you and it felt good, and I got caught up in the moment. I didn’t mean to scare you, or rush you and I know we’re not even…we don’t even have the space for that. It’s not…not time, but I just said that and I meant it but I didn’t mean it.”
She’s never wanted to punch him more than when he snickers.
“What? What? Phillip!”
Lip wraps an arm around her waist, pulling her to him. “Stop whinin’. It fuckin’ scared me shitless, okay? But,” he tugs her back again when she squirms against him, making an embarrassed groan. “I think about it too. Love you too. It felt good, hearin’ you say that. Obviously. So, now we know we both like that shit. Hell, for me it's probably genetic. And y’know, eventually, we’ll get there. Could be sooner. Could be later. Nothin’ to freak out about.” he nudges her chin with his knuckle. “‘Kay?”
“Kay.”
“Good.” he sighs. “All done?” she nods, and he nods with her looking around. “Fuckin’ awesome, can we celebrate your birthday now?”
“Yeah.”
“Yeah? Good, look around, baby, where are we?”
Charlotte looks at their surroundings for the first time since getting off of the bus, eyes widening as she views the pretty townhouses, uniform and lined up. Just behind them is the neighborhood that Lip had taken her to see the lights all of that time ago. “These townhouses are so cute.” she chirps, whipping her head around.
Lip slips behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and leaning his head on her shoulder. “Show me which one’s your favorite.”
The woman’s big brown eyes slip over to a sage green townhouse, it nearly looks exactly like the shade she’d always wanted. The one she’d told Lip she’d want her house to be like two months ago…and the paint looked pretty fresh. “That one.” she breathes.
“Yeah? Should we go eat inside? Or we could check out the backyard.” he hums against her cheek. Charlotte slips her hand up into his hair, still staring at the house.
“I dunno. What if the people who live here come home early…I don’t wanna get in trouble.”
Lip shrugs, digging in the bag and producing something from it to dangle in front of Charlotte’s face.
“I spoke to the husband and he was fuckin’ cool with it, even said he thinks we should christen the place. But I guess I should ask the wife too.”
Silver keys come into the focus of Charlotte’s vision and she uses Lip’s solid chest to support her weight.
“Well, Bunny? What do you say?”

Things that "allegedly" happened at the Aus tour that might have caused William to initiate the royal foundation split asap -
1. Jason stayed back in London at KP and did not accompany the couple to Australia. Quite a bit of the HnM staff went to Australia but point of contact the remained Jason in London. The harkle shenanigans were directly reported to Jason at KP during this time. And maybe Jason talked to William while Harry was away
2. Jessica accompanied Meghan as her stylist. But essentially Meghan and Jessica treated it as a holiday and wanted to do holiday stuff even though the couple's schedule was packed. Rumours are that Jessica/Meghan billed Clarence house for this styling expenses.
3. Meghan sort of sabotaged Invictus and wanted to be there with Harry at every Invictus appearance and give a speech as well. Harry in the end, ditched Invictus and only did a couple of appearances to give a speech. But did not meet with the organizers or the participants. While this is not related to RF or KP directly, it showed bad faith. Now we know they did mistreat David Beckham.
4. Jessica's husband Ben had also come over from Canada with a crew. This was done in the garb of covering invictus but rumours were that Meghan wanted to do an exclusive interview about her pregnancy. The staff put a stop to this. Seems like this was a similar arrangement to what the couple eventually did in SA with Bradby and the "no one asked if im okay" interview.
5. Meghan's people had kinda roped in Jaguar to be Invictus sponcers and arranged a Jaguar to be gifted to Ben as a thank you gift for the exclusive interview with the Canadian network. Staff got to know and put a stop to it becoming news. Rumours are that Ben then flew back, but still got the Jaguar.
6. Meghan did not like staying at the governor generals official residence. Esp since Jessica was with her. She wanted the whole house as opposed to a wing. Jason and the KP team had to sort that headache out and smooth it out with the Australian team. Meghan remained mad.
7. She had an argument with the Governor generals wife, allegedly over staff treatment. rumours are that Meghan used the F- word and rolled her eyes. Happened in front of KP and aus staff. This was pretty much a diplomatic incidence and BP+govt got involved.
8. She wanted to accompany Harry at every one of his solo engagements. This caused quite a bit of hassles last minute. They were late to nearly all their engagements.
9. The blood diamond earrings situation happened. She wore the earrings without letting the staff know. KP/London staff were told one thing and issued a statement but later were told by staff in Australia about the true provenance. From a diplomatic pov this was a very bad look but Meghan said she did not care.
10. Tea throwing incidence happened and tea allegedly spilled over one of her PAs. That PA was being bullied by Meghan for a while and decided to leave. She was paid and an iron clad NDA had to be signed. But this incidence became quite an big legal issue for KP and there was allegedly a super injunction about this.
11. Jason decided to officially forward the bullying complaint to Simon case, BP HR and CH in writing. And maybe talked to William because staff's mental health was at stake.
12. She walked out of the UN women engagement after 10min and berated her staff, while at the venue, for arranging this. She allegedly ripped her Amy and her female body guard a new one infront of everyone, including royal rota. Amy cried. And the female bodyguard handed in her resignation that day.
13. She allegedly skipped/ditched some engagements to go to a spa/resort with Jessica. This caused some embarrassment because a lot of people had put in a lot of time and efforts into making these happen- reporters, organizers, local authorities, security, attending public and staff were all left embarrassed.
14. She was merching throughout the tour. She had arranged for merching deals and freebies and the staff wasn't made aware. Ethically, this caused quite some problems for KP. Gifts were also accepted in Australia personally by the couple against staff advice.
15. The pricetag on one of her dresses was left on when she walked out of a plane. She was embarrassed and ripped into her assistant for that. That was a merch which went wrong for her.
16. The couple was rude to the royal rota throughout. Even though the rota had been previously briefed about the kind of coverage Meghan wanted. Jason had to frantically be smooth things over constantly from London to ensure positive coverage from the press.
17. At least 4 members of meghans staff handed in their notice while on tour. This got back to KP/William who felt they had to act asap.
18. The couple constantly rowed while in Australia, and staff was put in an impossible sandwich situation while dealing with two. Both H and M were constantly on social media checking commments and were issued that public was criticising Meghan. They constantly telling staff to cover social media and clab back, instead of doing actual work.
Thank you so much! I remembered it was a disaster, but I’d forgotten some of the details.
They also took some vacation days at a resort, and there were rumors it was a freebie. And she made that speech claiming she’d paid her way through Northwestern and her dad and sister clapped back at that.
It really was a nightmare. I smh whenever Harry claims his family was jealous about how well they did in Australia.

note that the timeline or educations may not add up but just ignore it because i don't have the brain power to sync up THIRTEEN + 1 's education schedules
sorry for the late chpt. I was really sick so i tried my best on this chpt. next chpt will be longer, i promise.
warnings: some level of chae-young attempting infidelity, swearing

wonwoo came home to find yn passed out on the couch.
"you okay?" - wonwoo
"i need sleep. i've been stuck at school finishing my final project and i just finished. now i have to worry about the stupid reunion in two days. i have no dress and i look like a zombie. life is great." - yn
"go take a shower. i'll get the guys to help you. jeonghan has connections." - wonwoo
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the word shock wasn't enough to describe the look on everyone's faces when yn and wonwoo walked in through the door.
some background information: in the one week before this gathering, yn had completed her pieces for the museum, her final project for university and all her outstanding commissions. her exhibit had been very successful and she had earned quite a significant amount of money.
"yn. is that your boyfriend?" - aunt
"yes. this is jeon wonwoo, my boyfriend." - yn
"nice to meet you, my name is jeon wonwoo." - wonwoo
"yn-noona... isn't that the streamer gameboi? you're dating Korea's number 1 [game name] player?" - younger cousin
"no way..."
the whispers in the event room got louder and louder until the people she hated finally came towards her. it was evident that chae-young was gawking at wonwoo. she didn't even bother to hide her lovestruck expression from her husband.
"so this is the new guy you have, huh yn." - mother
"good morning, i'm jeon wonwoo." - wonwoo
it seemed like he had to repeat himself often today.
"what's your net worth?" a disrespectful question right off the bat was expected and both yn and wonwoo had prepared for it.
without missing a beat, wonwoo simply smiled and said, "14 million. I am sure that I have enough to take care of yn for the rest of our lives."
the jealousy that clouded chae-young's face was the best thing that yn had ever seen.
sitting at the table was very awkward because they were surrounded by whispers and glances.
“so wonwoo. what do you work as?” chae-young’s husband was actually a very nice man. he was always kind to yn and her brother and was the complete opposite of his distasteful wife.
“i’m a gamer. i’m currently in talks of joining [fictional korea no.1 pro gamer team]. that deal closes before june,” - wonwoo
“ah i see. what about you, yn? what are you working as now?” this question was on everyone’s mind. some with ulterior motives.
“up until thursday, i was a museum part-timer and finishing university. but i recently managed to sell many of my art pieces and have made quite a name for myself in the past three days. in case you all didn’t know, almost every artwork in this building was made by me over the last 4 years.” - yn
the room was silent. you could hear a pin drop and wonwoo couldn’t help but smile to himself.
let’s walk through the real train of events.
after the “fake-dating” agreement, wonwoo, minghao, mingyu and dokyeom had helped yn move every piece of her artworks over the years to minghao’s studio to sort through them. it took them almost 30 hours to categorise. by monday, they had organised the auction within the museum, an exhibition for her other works and an online bidding website for exclusive works. from tuesday to thursday, the auctions and exhibitions opened.
every one of yn’s artworks sold for incredibly high prices. this particular hotel that the family reunion was, had purchased a significant amount of said artworks.
“you mean you painted that painting of a phoenix?” - uncle
“i did that 2 years ago.” - yn
“and that ceramic heart? that was you?” - aunt
“yes.” - yn
wonwoo could not help but smile at yn’s nonchalent bragging. just then, a hand reached across to tap his.
“so~ wonwoo-oppa~ how did you and yn meet?" chae-young began to blatantly flirt with wonwoo while her HUSBAND sat helplessly beside her.
“i commissioned an art piece from her and fell in love at first sight.” wonwoo forcefully took back his hand before leaning closer to yn, earning a scowl from chae-young.
yn was’t exaggerating when she described all of chae-young’s antics.
here’s a list of the things she tried but failed to do. seduce wonwoo, yn’s “boyfriend”, spill water on yn, pretend that yn stepped on her foot on purpose, claim yn slapped her.
how embarrassing.

Okay, so I was doing some chores here at my house and, out of nowhere (something completely normal forr me as a fan of bnha), chapter 413 popped in my head, especifically pages 13-14, and I started rambling my ideas...until I realized something.
Izuku is going to lose OFA.
Ok, not that, which is literal text, but this:
Izuku is going to lose OFA, and while arguing with Kudou and the others vestiges, he was crying his eyes out because what mattered the most to Izuku about losing OFA, among ALL the consequences and intricate meanings which 'becoming quirkless again' could represent...It was the fact that OFA was a gift from All Might that made Izuku's heart ache in agony at that moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ch. 413 Here I want to note that the spanish official translation says exactly the same, so there's no contradictions.
It was not that he was going back to his past self, not that he most-likely would have to face that discrimination he went through all his childhood all over again. Not that losing his quirk could mean that he would have to stop being a hero. Not that he was gong back on being useless/worthless again...ANY OF THAT! BUT because he is 'losing the gift, meant for him, from his daddy might'...THAT'S what was causing his tears...
And from this, I see two things:
First...
IZUKU YOU BASTARD!!
HE'S AVOIDING AGAINNN THINKING OF HIMSELF!!
And, I'm sorry, but being quirkless is not goddamn easy!
It has been explained several times in the development of the plot that bnha's society is based on superhumans: people with quirks.
Being just a regular person without a quirk is a really complicated thing to deal with, and having that particularity means facing problems both on a social and psychological level.
In Aoyama's case, for example, his parents were so devastated over the fact that their son was quirkless, and therefore, he was feeling excluded and different from others, that they reached a point of despair that they made a deal with AFO and, well, you know the rest.
Another one that comes to mind is Ragdoll. Her inclusion here in the list could be debated, but what I want to distinguish about her character is that, after losing her quirk completely by AFO's doing, she had to face a huge set back in order to re-organize her new life now without a quirk. She didn't appeared in the story for many chapter until it was explained that she was still working as a hero but in the backstage, to say in a way.
And finally, Izuku is one of the clearer examples of all this (and that's why he's the protagonist).
He had to deal with bullying, rejection and exclusion (from their classmates when he was in elementary/middle school to the entire society against him). His OWN mother had her own troubles to support him over a dream that was impossible to achieve because, once more, confront villian with a broad range of hazardous quirks against a single person was basically suicidal...
On note of all this, I have to mention this scene (which I say now: I'll bring this up over and over again, a thousand times if needed). I've mention this specific situation in one of my posts before, but now I'll explain it more in depth:
Tumblr media
ch. 72, pages 19-20
WHAT ABOUT THIS HORI!!??! HUH!!?? WHAT'S THAT?? WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN???!! "BIRTH DEFECT"!?? "HE JUST COULDN'T ACCEPT THE TRUTH"?!?!
This scene has always been stuck in my head since the first time I read it because...here it explicitly shows Izuku's demeaning perspective over 'being quirkless'.
Here he's saying that "it's a defect", an imperfection, something he lacks on (because society has made it a necessity or requirement).
And even in spanish, even though it doesn't translates as 'defect', it highlights the idea of 'he didn't get what he should have received' (in this case, that his parents 'couldn't provide him of that')
Tumblr media
In both languages it is mention the phrase where he explains that ' ' 'his friend' ' ' always kept believing EVEN when the universe was proving him wrong again and again.
My point here is: Izuku has a negative view of being quirkless (just as any other person in-universe would have) and with that, the possibilities of him having a list of low self-esteem issues, lack of confidence and self-value even as a human being are REALLY high...
but then, the fact that Izuku, after having been thrown around for the most dangerous villian of all, shirtless and crying with a bunch of ghosts inside his head...when they're telling him of getting rid of what he should have had always what makes him human...he doesn't think of him. of the problems he would have to face. of the pain he would go through again...
Instead, he thinks of 'the gift from All Might', almost as if the quirk were a toy All Might gave him and that he shouldn't lose it because All Might would feel angry or sorry for him...
MAYBE, maybe I'm going around the bush and making no sense... but FUCK IT! I WANT ANSWERS, HORI!!
I NEED THEM!! I'M LOSING MY MIND!!!
Why is he refusing himself again?? Avoiding HIS feelings but worrying about others'? Or rather, worrying about THE THING instead the consequences it causes the lost of it??!
WHY IS HE ALWAYS THINKING OF ANYTHING BUT HIM?!
Second...
Ok. Now that I've calmed myself down and said what i was meaning to say...after having been screaming internally against Izuku and all his shit...the second point I wanted to talk about was that...
With everything that has happened, a GREAT opportunity would be presenting itself to develop the dad-son bond Toshinori and Izuku have been building since the beggining.
Let me explain:
When All Might first came to town and met Izuku, their bond began to form because they were interating with one another because of OFA. The 'you're my successor' was the excuse and only connection they had to be together. And for that same reason is how their relationship exists in the first place.
So...if Izuku loses OFA. If that excuse stops to exists...the only reason for them to continue being together would be the love they have develop for one another as father-son.
If Toshinori could spell out loud to Izuku that he cares for him beyond that 'you're my successor' or 'the one I gave it my quirk'...if they could transcend that lame excuse and finally spoke to each other as human beings...
GOD, maybe I'm projecting myself here because I LOVE their relationship and i would gladly like to see Toshi legally adopting Izuku or them calling each other 'my son' and 'my dad'...but, yeah...
Those are my ideas about the new chapter.

You were so lightheaded teaching the next morning, you made a plan to check your blood pressure the second you got to the clinic. One of your coworkers made a comment about how pale you looked and offered you a small bottle of juice, something you were pretty sure was the only reason you were able to walk to the clinic to begin with.
So when you saw Tess leaning against the wall outside, you weren’t exactly thrilled. If Joel had picked that minute to go downhill, you didn’t think you could run to his apartment let alone have the stamina for exploratory surgery on the Millers’ living room floor. For both your sakes, he’d better be doing well.
“Everything OK with the patient?” You asked as you came up.
“He’s fine, all things considered,” she replied. “Was holding down water this morning, some food, too.”
“Good,” you said. “I can grab you those antibiotics…”
“I’m here to talk to you,” she said, eyes ranging over you. You thought about arguing with her but just sighed instead. If this woman was going to be taking you out of the QZ, you should learn to deal with her now. “Your… friend wouldn’t let me wait inside. Wouldn’t say why but I don’t think he likes me much.”
“Assuming we’re not underwater,” you said. “We can talk.”
You went inside, Andrew behind the front counter. He glared at Tess for a moment before looking you over and frowning.
“You look like shit,” he said, getting up and coming around the desk.
“Gee thanks,” you rolled your eyes. He took your face in his hands and tilted it, examining you in the florescent light.
“Seriously,” he replied “Haven’t seen you look quite like this since…”
“Yeah, well,” you cut him off, not ready to talk about the day you lost your child with this woman you’d met the night before. He let you go. “I survived that too, right?”
He glared at Tess again.
“Guess so.”
“How busy is it at the moment?” You asked, looking to the half empty waiting room and praying there wasn’t anyone who needed surgery that day. Standing and operating for hours sounded dangerous.
“You can have a slow start,” he was still watching Tess as though she were a wolf waiting to strike.
“Any exam rooms open?”
“No one in six through eight,” he replied.
“We’ll be in six,” you said. “Just come get me when things go to shit.”
“They always do,” he said, going back behind the desk.
You led the way back to the exam rooms, Tess staying close behind you. You closed the door, looking her up and down. She looked to be in better shape than she was the night before.
“Need anything patched up while you’re here?” You asked anyway, grabbing the blood pressure cuff and sitting on the exam table before strapping it around yourself. You squeezed the pump, tightening the cuff down.
“No,” she shook her head. “I took a few hits but nothing I can’t handle.”
“Good,” you said, checking the numbers. 80/40. You sighed. “Shit.”
“What?” She asked. You yanked the cuff free.
“Well,” you sighed. “I need to basically try to not faint all day and just keep my fingers crossed no one comes in needing an appendectomy because I’m the only one here tonight who can do surgery. I didn’t have a good way to track how much blood I was transferring, I let it go longer than I should have.” You wrapped the cuff and set it on the exam table next to you before holding onto the edge of it, watching Tess. “What did you want to talk about?”
She sighed, crossed her arms and leaned against the counter opposite you. It was like she was sizing you up - but whether it was as an opponent or an ally, you weren’t sure.
“You and Joel,” she began, but you cut her off.
“You don’t have to worry about me,” you said. “That man hates me. Fucking hates me. If he could shoot me on the street and get away with it, he would.” Your stomach turned as you said it. You swallowed the bile and pressed on. “Nothing is happening with us. What happened last night was him delirious from blood loss. It was nothing. Less than nothing.”
It was the same thing you’d told yourself the night before when you fell apart in your bed, his picture still on your bedside table, the shirt that still smelled like him tucked below the pillow on his side of the bed. It still hurt to think it.
Tess rolled her eyes.
“If you think I give a shit about who the man sleeps with, you’re not nearly as smart as I thought you were,” she said. “He could fuck the entire QZ for all I care.”
“Oh,” you looked at her. “Then…”
“I care about who he’s willing to fuck our business over for,” she said. “And, apparently, that’s you.”
You frowned.
“I don’t…”
“We trade with people all over the QZ,” she said. “I’ve set up meeting points all over this fucking hell hole over the last five years. Some are safer than others. The safest ones happen to be right around the corner from your apartment.”
“OK,” you looked at her, incredulously.
“He won’t trade at those spots,” she said. “Would rather do it right under a FEDRA guard’s nose than go within 500 yards of your place. I never knew why he refused to go into that area, why he would walk a mile out of his way to avoid it. Then, last night, I saw where your place is. And you… Well, you damn near killed yourself to save him. Now it makes sense.”
You blinked, surprised.
“That…” you shook your head. “I don’t…”
“He’d never mentioned you,” she said. “Not once. We’ve come back banged up from outside the QZ before and the fact that he knew a doctor? Never came up.”
“Well yeah,” you said. “Because he hates me. If he’s avoiding me that much it’s because he hates me…”
“I don’t really care why it is,” she said, looking you over again. Her eyes lingered on your hair, the flowers you stitched onto your skirt to patch a hole. “But it’s not because he hates you.”
You looked at her shoes and chewed the inside of your cheek for a moment before looking back up at her.
“So what do you want me to do about it?” You asked. “You obviously have… gotten to know him. You think anyone can control what he does?”
“I can,” she said. “Except, apparently, when it comes to you. But I don’t think there’s a damn thing either of us can do about that.”
“So why come talk to me?” You asked.
“I like to be informed,” she shrugged. “We do delicate shit, Joel, Tommy and me. I like to control variables. You’re a variable those idiots never thought to mention.”
“Well, I promise to stay out of your way,” you said. “I’m not looking to cause Joel any more pain. I just want to make sure Joel and Tommy don’t get themselves killed doing something stupid. Same offer extends to you, by the way, if you’re going to be running around outside the QZ with them.”
She looked surprised, a small, amused smile on her lips.
“Thanks,” she said. “I appreciate it.”
“I’m at the school until 2:30 during the week,” you said. “Here on the weekends. Otherwise I’m home. So now you know where to find me….”
She nodded slowly.
“You just do it all, don’t you?” She said. “Teaching, surgery, donating blood…”
“Well I don’t have much else going on in my life,” you sighed. “Anything else I can do for you?”
“Your trip outside the QZ,” she said. “It’ll be about a month. We went too close together this time, kicked the hornet’s nest a bit too hard. Need to give it time to die down before we try to cut through raider territory again.”
“Should be fine,” you shrugged. “That will give me time to get more information on just what I need…”
“Has to be the Harvard Medical Library?” She frowned. “That’ll be tricky to get to…”
“I mean I guess I could just go to the Boston Public Library for the hyper-specific studies that were only published in niche medical journals because JAMA didn’t want to touch them,” you said wryly. “I’m sure they’re there, too…”
“Harvard Medical it is,” she said. “I’ll be in touch in about a month. Let you know exactly when I’ll take you.”
You slid off the exam table and had to steady yourself, your head spinning. Tess reached out to help you, holding onto your arm until you could see straight again.
“Thanks,” you said, taking your arm back. She looked you up and down one more time.
“I like you,” she said. “I can see why they like you.”
“Like me or hate me, probably best to not tell Joel who exactly it was who stitched him up last night,” you said, leading the way back to the waiting room and stopping at a medicine cart. You covered the lock before keying in the code opening it. You grabbed a bottle of broad spectrum antibiotics already dosed out for one person and handed them to Tess. “He might just pry the stitches out if he knew they came from me. Fuck knows what he’d do about the blood.”
“Whatever you say, Doc,” she gave you a smile. You smiled a bit, too. She didn’t call you Kid. “See you in a month.”

“I really don’t like this,” Andrew was pacing your apartment, his arms crossed. “I should be the one to go…”
“That’s the stupidest fucking thing I’ve ever heard,” you rolled your eyes. You were sitting on the couch, your backpack ready to go beside you, watching him go back and forth across your tiny space. Your apartment had always looked too small for Andrew. He crossed it in just four strides. Step, step, step, step, turn. Repeat.
“Why?” He asked, stopping in front of you. “I’m a guy, way less likely to have someone try to…”
“Well, for starters, you don’t know jack shit about medical research,” you replied. “You’ve got training as a field medic, you don’t know what to look for to develop treatments for anything and yeah, there are some specific studies I’m looking for, but I want to pick up as much as I can that will be helpful while I’m there. You need knowledge to parse that out. You can’t do that.”
He ground his teeth but didn’t say anything.
“And,” you continued. “You’ve got Jess to go home to. I’ve got nothing to worry about outside of work and you. I’m more expendable.”
“You’re not expendable,” he glared at you. “Just because that fucking guy…”
“It’s not his fault,” you rolled your eyes. “I just don’t have people besides you. That’s OK, I’m very happy that I have you. You do have people. That’s a good thing. Lean into it.”
There was a sharp knock at the door.
“She’d better bring you back in one piece or I swear to God…” he muttered, stalking over to open the door.
Your jaw almost dropped.
It was Joel.
***
He hadn’t seen Andrew since the night he found out. Since the night he left you. Joel had barely even thought of the guy and now he was staring him down like he was about to punch him in the face. Again.
Joel hadn’t stopped him last time. He wasn’t sure he would now, either.
He’d been on the couch, staring at the wall. Everything had consumed him. Memories of how Sarah died, all the ways it could have been different, the idea of his child with you. All the ways the world would be different now if he’d just fucking known. Tommy had tried talking to him. He wanted to respond but he couldn’t really understand what he was saying, wasn’t sure he could move to answer him even if he could.
Tommy opened the door and Andrew had shoved past him. He grabbed Joel by the collar, yanking him to his feet. Joel was almost surprised when his legs held his weight, it hadn’t seemed like they could but they did.
“You fucking asshole!” Andrew punched him across the jaw, hard. He stayed standing, more because he wasn’t sure he remembered how to fall or how to move away from him.
“Hey!” Tommy yelled, trying to pull him back. He just shrugged him off and hit Joel again. The blow was closer to his eye.
“She almost fucking DIED for you, for your kid!” He screamed as Tommy dragged him out. “She almost died and you’re pissed she did that without you?” He broke free of Tommy’s grip and lunged for Joel again, shoving him back. Joel stumbled but stayed standing. “Fucking fight back you asshole! I watched her bleed out for you and this is what you fucking do?”
He stood there, panting in front of him. Joel still hadn’t moved of his own accord.
“I knew you’d do something like this,” he said, voice trembling but calmer. “Go to hell, Joel.”
He didn’t look any happier to see him now, blocking his view of inside your apartment. Joel pushed past him.
“Ready?” He asked. You shrank back from him, pressing into the corner of the couch.
“Where’s Tess?” You asked. “She was supposed to take me.”
“Asked me to,” he said gruffly. It was a lie. He hoped you wouldn’t notice. “If you’re goin’, let’s go.”
You nodded and got up, putting your backpack on.
“You can’t be serious,” Andrew gaped at you. “He’s going to take you out there and fucking kill you and you’re going to just go along with him…”
“Hey!” Joel snapped at him but you cut him off.
“It’s fine, Andrew,” you smiled tightly at him. “I’ll see you in a few days. Cover for me at work, yeah?”
He ground his teeth, looking between you and Joel, his eyes eventually settling on Joel.
“If she doesn’t come back, you’d better not either,” he said. “Show your face again here and you’ll wish you got bitten. We clear?”
“Crystal,” Joel looked down at you. You were dressed for a hiking trip and you’d French braided your hair and put fucking ribbons on the ends of your pigtails. Even in the goddamn apocalypse you had a seemingly endless supply of ribbons. “Let’s move, we need to get out of the fence before 6 a.m.”
You trailed silently behind him as he led the way across the QZ. He hated it. Hated being this fucking close to you again, how it felt like a relief. Like the grip that had been on his heart for the last few months finally loosened and he could really breathe. He hated how quiet you were. He hated how much he liked being near you, even knowing what you’d kept from him. What that secret had taken from him.
It was a cold reminder of just how miserable he’d been since he’d left you. The distance hadn’t helped. He still thought about you all the time but now it was tinged with the future you’d decided on your own. He couldn’t bring himself to be anywhere near you. It hurt too much. It was going to destroy him. It was part of how he’d ended up working with Tess to begin with.
She saw him one afternoon, a week and a day after he’d left you - everything seemed to be marking time by how long it had been since he’d left you - when some fucking asshole tried to pick his pocket on the street. He’d caught the guy easily. Felt him reach into his pocket, knew where to grab him, where to throw him to make him regret it. If it had been before he’d left you, he might have just taken the ration cards back. Now, he wanted a fight. Wanted the anger. Wanted to feel something, anything, besides this wanting and emptiness and desperation for a future he could never have because you’d never given him the fucking chance to take it.
“Think he’s had enough,” Tess said, Joel’s chest heaving. He dropped the guy into the dirt, picking his now bloody ration cards up off the ground and stuffing them in his pocket. He gave Tess a nod and started to head home but she caught up to him.
“Where’d you learn that?” She asked, walking alongside him. He looked her up and down once before looking straight ahead again.
“Outside the fuckin’ QZ,” he said bluntly. She smirked.
“Perfect.”
She asked him for a drink at the speakeasy, asked if he was interested in work besides the one off jobs he did every day. Something with some excitement, something where he could use the skills he’d honed in his life before the QZ.
“Could use a man like you at my back,” she said. “But you’d have to do what I fucking say, I don’t do this lone wolf bullshit. Either you respect me and my experience or you can fuck off.”
“I can do that,” he said.
She first kissed him a month later. It felt…wrong. She was too tall, didn’t fit into him right. Her lips weren’t soft like yours. She didn’t smell like lavender. He kissed her anyway, until she started taking her clothes off.
“Don’t think that’s a good idea,” he muttered, looking away from her. “I’m not lookin’… I can’t be your anything…”
“I’m not asking you to fall in love with me, Joel,” she rolled her eyes. “I’m asking if you want to fuck me. Doesn’t have to be anything but that. Fuck me - and whoever else you want - here, keep me alive out there. If you’re interested.”
His eyes ranged over her. She was a good looking woman. He wasn’t blind. But she wasn’t you. He almost said no. But it was over with you and he needed to get you out of his system. He hated that, too. He didn’t hate Tess. He hated wishing she was you.
He hated how he’d barely even known you were going to begin with. Tess had mentioned making a solo run earlier in the week after taking a meeting about it.
“Why’re you goin’ alone?” He’d frowned at her from across the table.
“Just some researcher,” she waved him off. “FEDRA wouldn’t give them permission or staff to go get what they need for whatever passion project they have so I’m taking them.”
“Wouldn’t it be better if I went, too?” His frowned deepened. “Or Tommy?”
“Trying to not poke the bear for the raiders so the fewer the better,” she shrugged. “Don’t think she’d hold her own very well in that situation…”
“Who’s she?” He asked, frowning. Most of the FEDRA people were men, especially anyone educated enough to be doing research. Everyone except…. “What kind of research?”
“Medical,” she shrugged, trying to sound nonchalant. If he hadn’t gotten to know Tess over the last few months, he wouldn’t have even noticed the quick, cagey glance.
“No,” he shook his head. “No, fuck no, you’re not takin’ her out there…”
“What, don’t trust me with your girlfriend?” She asked, eyebrows raised.
“She’s NOT my girlfriend,” he snapped.
“Then why do you care, Joel?” She quirked a brow at him. He ground his teeth.
“Just do,” he snapped. “You’re not takin’ her.”
“Well, too fucking bad because I’ve already agreed to it,” she replied.
“Just don’t take her fucking money and tell her you can’t,” he raised his voice. “It’s not that fuckin’ hard, Tess…”
“We owe her,” she snapped. “She wouldn’t take money, only a trade. This is all she wanted so I’m doing it.”
“What the fuck did we trade her for?” He demanded. “The fuck you doing trading with her at all?”
“I traded for your fucking life, Joel,” she said. “You really think me and Tommy were able to pull a bullet out of your stomach and keep you alive on our own? Jesus Christ, you’re not that dumb…”
He sat back in his chair. So he hadn’t imagined you that night. He’d been dreaming so vividly, it was like he did before he’d come to the QZ, back when he thought you were dead and gone. It had felt so real that time, he’d thought he’d died, that he’d somehow ended up in the same place as you. Even though that didn’t make any damn sense - he’d killed far too many people to ever go to heaven, if heaven existed, and there’s no way you’d end up anywhere else. You’d been so close. A strange warmth was spreading through him and you were there, soft and beautiful and sad. It made sense that you were dead, that he’d died, too. More sense than anything else.
“I’ll take her,” he said gruffly.
“Thought you didn’t want anything to do with her,” she replied. “At least that’s what her and Tommy both say. She’s convinced you hate her. Said you’d shoot her in the street if you could get away with it.”
“I said I’m takin’ her so I’m fuckin’ takin’ her.” He snapped. “Either that or she doesn’t go with us. End of discussion.”
He stalked off from the table, his chest tight. Just the thought of you, outside the QZ walls without him…
He knew what life out there was like. It’d get you killed and that’s if you were fucking lucky. If you were unlucky, it’d get you kidnapped and brutalized first. It didn’t matter how much he wanted to fucking hate you, he couldn’t let you go with someone who wasn’t willing to die for you. Too big a risk. It had to be him.
“Did Tess tell you the deal?” You asked after you’d been walking for a bit.
“Just that I’m takin’ you to Harvard,” he said gruffly.
“Right,” you nodded, glancing up at him. “You’re my guide, that’s all. I don’t want or expect you to be my bodyguard and keep me alive. I just need someone to help me find the place.”
“Didn’t fuckin’ tell Andrew that,” he muttered.
“Well, Andrew’s Andrew,” you shrugged. “Besides, I think you’re safe. He’s not capable of killing anyone….”
Joel started watching for FEDRA guards as they got closer to the gap in the fence they used to slip in and out of the QZ. He held up the broken part for you and you scrambled below it, him following close behind.
You were smart enough to drop when the search light panned over in their direction, you taking shelter behind a car that was lying on its roof. Joel kept his eyes on you. You were still so goddamn pretty. Even hiding from FEDRA you were fucking pretty. He ground his teeth.
“Move,” he said under his breath when the light passed, grabbing you by the backpack and hauling you along through the debris field that ran along the outside of the QZ. He kept you both down low until you were fully clear of it, outside control of the state and under threat of raiders and clickers and men who’d survived like Joel had: taking what they needed and killing when necessary.
“Last chance to turn around,” he looked down at you. “It’s shit out here.”
“Wasn’t exactly expecting a stroll in the park, Miller,” you said. “I know what I’m doing.”
“These medical books better be fuckin worth it,” he muttered, leading the way toward Harvard. “Let’s go.”
A/N: It's their first run outside the QZ and it's just Doc and Joel. So many possibilities 😏
This arc will likely run for about 2 more chapters with allllll kinds of interesting shit coming up for these two. I hope you enjoy it!
Thank you, as always, for reading and interacting. Your comments so frequently make my day and it means so much to know that people are embracing this story. Glass Houses: Jack Thurlow x Y/N Series CH 14
"Please don't bash your head in on the tub." "Not intentionally, I promise."
Tagging: @roryculkinluvr @thatsthewrongwallcraig @icarus-star @cc-luvr @madamemaximoff06 @shady-the-simp @quicksilversg1rl @s-0lar @kristennero-wallacewellsver @ophelialaufey @mayathepsychic1999
Jack's stomach was raw, his legs felt like jello as Y/n helped him off the floor.
"Go slow. We don't have to rush." She had her arm underneath Jack's shoulder and he held onto the wall as they moved. He pointed to toward the bathroom and Y/n sat him down on the toliet lid.
"Hold still, I don't want to get puke in your hair when I take this off." Y/n carefully peeled Jack out of his vomit covered shirt and tossed it into the sink. He leaned forward to rest his elbows on his knees so he could support his head on his hands.
"Do you think you can stand long enough to shower?" Y/n asked making him shake his head.
"Okay well we don't want you to die in the shower so you're going to have to trust me to help you." Jack looked up from his hands.
"You don't have to do that." Jack knew he was too woozy on his feet to stand very long but Y/n knelt down in front of him.
"Listen, if you want to keep your underwear on, you can but you need to get cleaned up. I do this every day for work Jack. Please just let me take care of you right now." Y/n rubbed the top of his hands and he ran his thumb over her hands.
He nodded in agreement and she started running the bath. Jack started to try and pull his socks off his feet while Y/n searched for a towel and wash cloth. She discarded his socks into the sink with his shirt and held her hands out for him to take.
"We going underwear on?" Y/n asked again and Jack made a noise like a chuckle but didn't quite reach his throat.
"I'm not wearing any." Jack informed. Y/n didn't want to make a big deal so she just agreed and helped him step out of his slacks, letting his cock hang freely between his legs. He moved his hands like he might try to hide himself but Y/n took his hands in her own to be able to help him into the tub.
"Please don't bash your head in on the tub." Jack's ass slipped along the base of the tub but Y/n gripped his hands tighter.
"Not intentionally, I promise." Jack croaked. His throat was raw and his skin held goosebumps from the warm water on his cold skin. He held his head under the water to let the warmth overwhelm him and Y/n stood back trying not to objectify Jack in such a weak state. He dfeinently looked different than what she would have thought. He held definition and muscles you wouldn't have expected in his plain black tshirts and jeans. Even soft, he had a beautiful cock in terms of size, girth and general attractiveness. She hadn't seen many cocks that looked as naturally pretty as his did but he was differently carrying around the Top 3.
Jack emerged from the water and coughed letting his hands rake down his face. She place a rag with soap on it in his hands and he washed his face, chest and neck trying to soothe himself.
"I have clean laundry in the dryer if you could grab that for me." Jack finally was able to get words to sound halfway clear. She nodded her head seeing that the water had given him a bit of a recharge so she trusted walking away with him in the tub. She didn't want to take too long as she sprinted down the hallway to the laundry room and started searching through his dryer. I found a pair of pajama pants, a loose shirt and some boxers. She carried the clothes to his room and started cleaning up the mess, making sure to open the window while she cleaned so it wouldn't smell.
By the time she returned, Jack was out of the bathtub, towel around his hips and he was gripping the sink with one hand while he brushed his teeth.
"I've got your room cleaned up enough to sleep in and your clothes are on the bed. Think you can walk it?" She asked ask Jack places his tooth brush back in the cabinet.
"As long as I can lean on you a bit. Feet are a bit slippery." Jack reached out and let Y/n put her arm behind his still dripping back helping him back to his room. He let out a heavy sigh taking in the air from the window before plopping down on his bed.
Y/n watched him toss the boxers to the side and pull on the pajama bottoms before discarding the towel. She used it dry his hair so it wasn't soaking wet when he laid down. She noticed a brush on the dresser and started running it throug his hair.
"You're a really good nurse." Jack blushed looking up from the bed at her as she stood over him, brushing his hair back.
"Thanks. I enjoy taking care of people." She smiled at him. Once his hair had been brushed, she picked his hand up and held it out.
"This is for the headache you're going to have and this is to help you rest. I know sleep is the worst right now but the spins will only make it worse." Jack tossed the pills back and chugged the water she held out to him. She noticed he didn't want to wear the shirt she had left out for him either so as he laid back on his bed, she started to tuck him in.
"Wait...will you stay?" Jack asked pitifully.
"Jack-"
"Nothing nefarious. I'm just nervous about getting sick again and having you here makes me feel less anxious." Jack explained. Y/n bit her lip before kicking her shoes off at the bottom of the bed and shimmying herself out of her jeans. She used the shirt she had pulled out for him because it was bigger than the one she was wearing and it smelled better than her sweat and Jack's puke.
"No funny business or I'm out." Y/n teased making Jack nod. She slid into the bed next to him and watched him squeeze his eyes tightly.
"The spins?" She asked and he nodded quick;y. She reached over and wrapped her arms around him to steady him.
"Just find something that's not moving, it'll pass. Just take deep breaths." Y/n breathed into Jack's ear and he opened his eyes to look at her.
"Thank you for staying." Jack whispered letting his head fall against her chest. She gave him a squeeze to her chest and he listened to the sounds of her heart beating as she stroked his hair.
Jack had never fall asleep so fast in his life.

A Dangerous Game Ch 14
Tumblr media
Emily Prentiss x reader warnings: language, smut eluded to/mentioned, case work, minor but usual CM style violence (kinda?). Also a little reminder that everything that has been happening recently and in the next couple of chapters is all happening pretty fast. Ch 12 they're in Sacramento on Thursday, fly back home Friday for yn to be coerced into the date, followed by emily finding the bug the same night and going to yn's place directly after. This ch picks up Monday morning essentially.
Emily ended up spending the rest of the weekend at your house and honestly, she wasn’t complaining. As every weekend there was a sense of comfort surrounding one another, easily completing tasks both around the house and a couple of errands ran to get ready for the week ahead. The two of you flitting around each other in the kitchen, Emily cooking dinner while you got a handful of meals ready for grab and go lunches or dinners during the week. Teamwork got the dishes done, Emily washing while you dried and put things away into their appropriate places before the two of you finally relaxed on the couch with a movie before bed.
*
The first alarm that went off in the morning was a soft one, the one to give you the extra time, the warning that you probably should get up now, but you’ve still got time to lounge around in bed if you wanted to. And that was exactly what you were going to do today. Emily’s arm was around your waist, you could feel her breath warm on the back of you neck when your phone first went off and your hand snuck out from under the duvet to silence it. She shifted slightly, her lips brushing against your bare shoulder and you let out a happy hum, rolling in her arms to nuzzle into her embrace as her arms tightened around you.
“Morning.” You murmured, your lips dancing across her collarbone and she hummed, her fingers beginning to trail up and down your back.
“Appears it is.” She replied, softly kissing the top of your head before letting out a small groan, “wish we could just stay here all day.”
“There’s at least a little bit of time.” You replied, your lips beginning a trail up her neck, nudging at her nose with yours before capturing her lips in a kiss. Her lips curved against yours, her hand coming to rest on your cheek as she kissed you back, it was only when your tongue slid across the seam of her lips that she pulled away.
“Ah… no…” She dropped back into the pillows with a quiet huff and your brow furrowed as you looked down at her.
“What?” You asked.
“What, what?” She replied.
“Are you okay?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
“Stop answering a question with a question.” Your eyes narrowed at her, “you’ve been… off all weekend. You were jumpy as shit during the movie last night and you kept looking over your shoulder at the grocery store like you expected Ghostface to pop up around every corner.”
“Just… a couple weird dreams, flashes of real memories, kinda put me on edge this week.”
“Okay.” You leant forward, kissing her quickly before sitting up “as long as it’s just that. I take it you don’t want to join me in the shower then?”
“Hey.” She grabbed at your hand, tugging gently and you turned back to look at her, “I would love to. But I didn’t bring work stuff with me, I’ve gotta run home to get it and check on Serg, make sure he hasn’t completely destroyed the apartment.”
“Lil bastard.” You said with a tease, slipping from between the sheets, “there’s a spare key on a blue lanyard in the junk drawer, I am not awake enough right now to deal with that many stairs.”
“Thanks.” She shifted close enough to the edge of the bed to pull you back for one more kiss, this one longer then the one before, “I’ll see you in a couple hours.”
“Promise I’ll be punctual as ever boss.” A sly grin on your lips, a laugh breaking through Emily’s before you disappeared into the ensuite, leaving her to get dressed.
She swiped her phone from the bedside table, shoving it into the back pocket of her jeans as she made her way down the first flight of stairs. The main level was pretty clean already but she paused to deal with the last couple of dishes neither of you had bothered with the night before and hit brew on the coffee pot so it would be ready for you once you were out of the shower. She heard the water kick in upstairs right as she found the spare key in the junk drawer, after a quick glance around the rooms she headed down the next set of stairs to the entry level. Yawning, she shoved her shoes on, slipping into her jacket as she pulled out her phone to try and remember where the nearest coffee shop was to get her first fix of the day. However the moment she pulled open the front door she nearly jumped back, adrenaline coursing through her and she was well aware that caffeine was likely not going to be needed yet.
“Fuck!”
Lying in the middle of your door mat was a dead cat.
Okay. Dead was a bit of an understatement. It was mutilated. Emily both tried to examine it and not stare at it in the same moment, letting out a low swear. The fur that wasn’t matted with blood was the animal equivalent of being the same colour as your hair, the bandana around it’s neck the same blue as the dress you’d had on the night prior. This wasn’t some empty handed freak you out tactic, this was a direct threat, suddenly a lightning strike went off in her brain and she was instantly transported to that field back in Jacksonville.
“You fucking cunt!” Dewald roared, watching Samantha fall to the ground, blood pooling around her middle while starting to move towards Emily, “how fucking dare you! You’re gonna regret that! I promise you that, bitch!”
“Oh my god…” Wincing, she pinched at the bridge of her nose.
She’d shot and killed not just Dewald’s partner in crime, but his lover too. He’d promised her in that very moment that he was going to get revenge. Somehow he’d gotten into her apartment to plant the bug, the easiest way to find out who she cared about the most, even if it was completely private. He wanted to know exactly how to hurt her the most, what her weak spot was and thanks to the goings on in her apartment, it was safe to say it was pretty obvious now. The cat wasn’t a warning sign for her, he’d been waiting to get you alone but hadn’t figured out where you lived yet considering the two of you were always at Em’s place and now Emily had gone and led him straight fucking to you.
*
You came back from refilling your coffee to find Derek perched on the edge of your desk.
“You need something?” You asked, it had been a pretty menial couple of hours so far, a paperwork day that while you appreciated, you were a little bored.
“What time should I come over tonight?” He asked and your brow furrowed.
“Excuse me?” You laughed.
“Prentiss said you were asking about security systems,” he held up the box in his hand, “she found an extra one she had lying around, asked if I could come install it after work.”
“Oh…” Your eyes drifted from the box up into her office where she was on the phone at her desk and you tried to hold back the smirk, “yeah. Guess I could use one of those. Didn’t realize it came with its own handy man.”
“Oh the handy man ain’t free.” He chuckled, clapping you on the arm, “you’re buyin’ the pizza.”
“Seems fair enough to me.” You replied with a shrug, dropping down into your chair.
For a moment you got lost in conversation with Derek, your laughter pulling Emily’s attention as she hung up the phone, her eyes drifting through the bull pen to you. Before she’d left your place she’d cleaned up the cat, tossing it in a dumpster down the street and done a very bare bones sweep of your house and yard. She knew she only had whatever time you were in the shower so she’d had to make it quick, though considering Dewald had only known your address for forty eight hours he wouldn’t have had much time so far. At the very least it looked like you’d accepted Derek’s offer and you’d be a little more secure come that night. Her phone rang again and with a huff and a roll of her eyes, she picked it up.
*
“Hey!” Your voice rung through Emily’s office louder than intended and she jumped in her seat.
“Jesus!”
“Still that on edge hey?” You asked, half lingering in the doorway. Emily let out a breath, trying to calm her racing heartrate.
“Just didn’t see you coming.” She replied, smoothing back a piece of hair, “what’s up?”
“I’ve got a lead.”
“It’s a paperwork day.” She replied, her brow furrowing though she could tell by the glittering in your eye exactly what case you were talking about as you moved into her office, perching against one of the chair arms.
“Employee at an animal shelter called the tip line, Dewald was in there looking at cats over the weekend.” Of course he was. Emily let out a soft sigh, withholding from running a hand over her face, “can I go?”
“Go where?” She asked, looking up to you with a confused expression on her face.
“Follow up at the shelter…” You nearly laughed and this time she let out a sigh, glancing between the paperwork and the bull pen.
“No.”
“Em…” you practically whined and she cast you a look that made you shut up pretty quickly.
“Are you really gonna get anything even useful out of a tip like that? Are they sure it was him?”
“I can check their cameras?” You offered with a shrug and she nearly smirked.
“You know it’s below your pay grade…”
“But it’s the case…” This time you did whine and Emily let out a small breath.
“I need you here.” She finally resolved, “I’ve got a witnesses coming in for that abduction case who need statements taken and a vic who needs a cognitive.”
“Please?” You pouted and she chuckled.
“I gave you an assignment agent, get it done and then we’ll talk.”
“Fine.” You let out a dramatic sigh and finally left the office.
The last thing she wanted right now was you going after Dewald, it was becoming more and more apparent to her that he must’ve been stalking the two of you for months now. If he caught on that you were onto him there was a high chance he would escalate, and quickly.
Hours later and she had gotten trapped in conference call after conference call, one that thanks to time zones even cut through her lunch break. For privacy’s sake she had shut her office door, both to not have any chaos of the office heard through the call and to help her focus, if the door was shut, she didn’t have a direct eyeline on your desk. She was beyond frustrated and annoyed by the time she finally stepped out of her office, hoping that everything she had delegated to the team was done or mostly done by now, the last thing she needed was another lecture from the deputy director. Her first move was to grab lunch from the break room, a fresh cup of coffee to help rejuvenate her for the rest of the afternoon. Back at her desk she glanced up, her head tilting when you weren’t in her eyeline and instead Derek was perched on your desk, laughing at something Reid was telling him. She waited a couple of minutes to see if you’d disappeared for a quick break, the cognitive she’d assigned to you had been for earlier in the day, if anything you should’ve been wrapping up paperwork by now. Eventually, she let out a little sigh, pushing her chair back and heading into the bullpen.
“Where’s Wilson?” She asked, Morgan glancing up at her as he quickly shifted on the desk, attempting to cover up a case file on your desk.
“Said she had something to take care of.” He shrugged, “figured it was personal.”
“Is that so?” She raised a brow and he simply shrugged again, “I gave her assignments…she should have checked in before leaving.”
“Looked like she was in a rush.” He replied, turning to the side to swipe a couple of smaller folders off the side of your desk, “I took care of the cognitive,” he handed one over to her, “and your witness statements are in there.” He handed her the second one.
“And the file you’re practically sitting on?”
“Dunno.”
“Nice try. Hand it over.” Before Derek could even fully stand up she’d already managed to swipe it off the desk, letting out an annoyed sigh as she flipped through it. Spencer gulped, quickly sneaking off from his desk and Derek huffed, crossing his arms over his chest. The folder was a very large and very extensive collection of the Dewald case dating all the way back to when you had handled the case in Jacksonville before starting with the BAU. Emily raised a brow in Derek’s direction, an unimpressed expression on her face. “Tell her I’ll be waiting for her in my office when she gets back.”
“Yes ma’am.” Keeping the handful of files, she turned from the desk cluster, not missing the way Derek’s hand dropped to his hip.
“And Morgan?”
“Yeah?” He stalled his movements, looking back up at her as she glanced over his shoulder.
“You better not be reaching for your phone to give her a heads up. Let her finish whatever personal business she had to take care of. God I’m starting to understand why Hotch said this job was an over glorified babysitter.”
It wasn’t that she was particularly mad, you had technically covered all of your bases, made sure any other work that was on your plate was done before taking off. But she was still annoyed, and none of it was helping the fact that she was in a mood already. She just wanted to get through the day without another lecture or a higher up finding out one of her agents was on the brink of going rogue.
*
“Hey,” you greeted, gently knocking on the doorframe of Emily’s office, “you wanted to see me?” You raised a hesitant brow in her direction, you knew what this was likely about already, ready to accept the incoming lecture.
“Yeah.” She replied from behind her desk, flipping a case file closed, “c’mon in.”
“Wrap up on the Thompson case.” You replied, dropping a file into her inbox, “and expense report from Sacramento. Morgan covered the cognitive and witness statements for me today.”
“I’m aware.” She glanced up to you and you winced, “I specifically gave you an assignment today and you handed it off to someone else to go galivanting after a different one.”
“I’m sorry.” You apologized, genuinely, “it won’t happen again.”
“I know it won’t.” A tiny smile briefly flashed across her lips and you felt some sense of relief wave through you, “and I’ll need whatever findings you have from today.”
“Yeah, the file isn’t on my desk, do you know if Morgan has it?”
“I have it.”
“Okay?” You half shrugged, stepping toward her desk as if to accept the folder.
“You’re not getting it back. You’re off the case.”
“Oh you can’t be serious.” You laughed, “I’ve been lead on that case for five years. Em, c’mon…” Your voice softened at the end, as if you were trying to remind her that you were so close to finishing this, but by the frown on her face you knew she wasn’t about to back down.
“Agent Wilson.”
Her voice hardened and a chill sunk through your entire body, watching the way her eyes darted from you to the doorway lightning fast. Your brow furrowed before quickly glancing over your shoulder to see both Rossi and the deputy director lingering in the doorway and relief washed over you. While she likely wouldn’t let you back on the case officially, this was for show and that was something you could play into.
“Don’t push your luck. You’ve been slipping, taking case files home, focussing on Dewald over the open cases we have, it’s getting reckless, nearly obsessive, you need to watch yourself. You are off this case and if I so much as suspect you going rogue and continuing to work it you will no longer be a part of this team. Do I make myself clear?”
“Yes ma’am.” You nodded meekly, glancing down, “I’m sorry. Really. I promise it won’t happen again.”
“Your future with the BAU depends on it.” She enforced and you let out a tiny sigh, nodding once again, “you’re dismissed for the day.”
“What?” Your brow furrowed once again as you glanced back up to her, “but—”
“Your assignments for the day are done, Agent Morgan made sure of that. You clearly don’t want to be here today, so go, home.”
“Yes ma’am.” With a tight smile you nodded before turning from her, briefly nodding and greeting the men at the door who slipped through it when you passed, shutting it behind them and you let out a small groan.
You took a little bit of time gathering your things, setting up a time for Derek to come over to install the security system later in the week and thanking him for covering for you today. He said it wasn’t a worry and that he’d do it again in a heartbeat, hoping that Prentiss hadn’t been too hard on you for it. There was a pit stop to Penelope’s office on the way out, asking if she wanted to grab coffee together before work tomorrow and a little bit of girl talk catch up before you finally left the building.
You hadn’t expected your day to end with a lecture or getting kicked off a case you had been invested in for far too long, one that perhaps was getting a little too personal for you. The worst part of it was that you knew you were in the wrong, you had gone completely against her orders and roped Derek into it as well, if you’d just done as she had asked, done your tasks and then gone to talk to her after maybe none of this would’ve happened. You let out a frustrated groan, slamming your hand into the steering wheel, you’d been acting on instinct, a gut feeling, you just knew Dewald was closer than everyone thought and the sooner you followed leads and found him, the better. You knew that both professionally and personally Emily had done what she had to, but it still sat the wrong way with you, you were still annoyed with the entire thing, and a little bummed out about it. You supposed this was one of those downfall moments to being involved with coworkers, especially if one of you was superior to the other. Today that blurry line was very blurry, you’d straight up hoped that your personal relationship with Emily would get you back onto the case and then the director had to have shown up, you were kicking yourself for not closing the office door when she’d called you in.
No matter what happened in the next couple of days, you were still pissed right now, and that meant you were in no mood to cook when you got home, and you wanted a nice glass of wine. You stopped at your favourite restaurant on the way, your annoyance growing when they said it would be a thirty minute wait for your food, but you were invested already, taking a seat in the lobby until it was done. A nice bottle of wine later and you were finally pulling up into your driveway looking forward to an evening alone to relax.
As you approached the front door, you felt the annoyance start to melt away, a small smile creeping its way onto your cheeks as you let out a small laugh, shaking your head. Emily was already ahead of her game, a bouquet of flowers wrapped in brown paper sitting on your doormat waiting for when you got home.
It appeared that within the realm of Vegas, apologies, or at least the starting of them, came very quickly and you could certainly get used to that.

This chapter was really hard to write because I didn't want to focuse too much on the violence but I did want to put the tension around everyone. They are not agents or people with superpowers, so perhaps their reactions is tied up to what they had seen in movies and who they are more so that because of that expertise. Guys, we are almost there!!! Please rmemeber English is not my mother tongue so forgive my grammar, spelling and funny mistakes, hope you like this one.

Chapter 15
Five minutes to midnight
You let out a groan, your body weighted you down and the world in front of your eyes was spinning out of control. You opened your mouth, but no sound came, only the ragged breathing that created a piercing pain on your chest.
Wanda
Her name came into mind, and soon after panic rose in your mind. You needed to move, and fast, Wanda was outside and she was in danger. With great effort you tried to sit up, pain clutch at your arm and the office spiralled in front of your eyes. You held your head, taking a deep breath that made you open your mouth in discomfort.
You tried to evaluate the damage, your legs were left mostly unharmed, but your midsection, your arms and your head had been harmed quite badly. You grimaced trying to stand up holding onto the table, your eyes closed for a moment before you found the broken mobile on the far corner. Staggering towards the place, you let out a cry when you tried to grab the mobile. The screen had been crushed, and the normal functions of the phone were not available for you.
“Tony.” You rasped out, “Friday call Tony.”
The mobile flickered, the sound was not good and suddenly it just turned off. You dropped the article turning around, it would be up to you to get help. You dragged yourself to the door, each step a painful reminder of the fight you held with the man.
Your hand lifted to the panel to call for the elevator. You waited, taking slow breaths, trying to hold onto your sanity while thinking about Wanda. About your family.
“Y/N!!!!”
You let out a whimper, turning around fast made you crash against the wall. your eyes went wide, and relief soon filled your expression when you noticed Maria coming towards you with the security detail of the building and Nick Fury.
“Maria, Wanda…” you started watching as everyone started checking the floor, Fury held you up with Maria cupping your face, completely pale and trembling.
“Wanda…you didn't tell me…” you groaned trying to glare at the woman, but Maria shook her head.
“I wasn't supposed to, Y/N. Natasha made me promise, it was to make sure Wanda's secret was safe…”
You shook your head glaring at Maria and Fury, “if anything happens to her…”
You groaned again, tears coming out of your eyes, Maria’s lip quivered while putting your face in her hands.
“I'm sorry, they already sent a search and capture warrant with Wanda's car description and plates.” Maria tried to soothe your worries; Fury nodded to the lift where a pair of paramedics came in ready to assist you.
“America, Billy and Tommy…”
“I sent someone over there, everything is being taken care of.” Fury placed you on the floor slowly, the stern glance firmly in place.
“He said something to you, anything else that may help us in our search?”
You shook your head letting the paramedics do their job, you tried to wrap your mind in what was happening, the officials and security looking around the place.
“I just wished you had told me…” You mumbled tiredly; your attention turned to the two men attending to your wounds. “How bad is it?”
“I think we need to take you to the hospital,” one of them started checking the bruises and the general stated you were in, “some bones may be broken but we cannot be certain unless we take some x-rays or…”
“No, I need…I need a computer.” You replied shaking your head, lifting your face to see Maria there, “call Tony.”
“Y/N I think…” Fury started but your eyes shot a heated glare towards the man.
“My family is in danger, Fury.” You motioned to the paramedics so they could help you up, “you need help, and right now Tony and I are your best hope, you got us into this mess, you better pray to God that this ends well…”
Fury held your stare with his sole eye, he pursed his lips tempted to say something against your plan but you were probably right. He nodded curtly, with Maria already making the call to Tony; you let out a breathy cough shivering while motioning to one of the medics to come closer.
“I need something for the pain, but not to leave me out of it, do you have something like that?”
He hesitated glancing at his partner then at you, “we’re not supposed to….”
“Don’t worry, I will take full responsibility, just…give me your best drug I will need it.” You mumbled making your way to the closest lab, you sat down in one of the chairs while turning on the computer.
“There are two patrols driving right now towards your house, they will be there in twenty minutes,” Fury entered the room with you, his eye glancing curiously at the screen, “Tony is coming over, he will be here in ten. What exactly are you doing?”
“This man…I know you guys want him for the deals he is making but, Maria, how bad is it going to be for Wanda? I need to know everything.”
Fury and Maria glanced at one another, you hit the table with your fist glaring at the both of them while pointing to the screen.
“I can hack into her mobile and his, I can put a tracker on them or the car Wanda is using, but I need to know everything! I need to know she is going to be fine! That nothing is going to happen!!”
This last part was said with tears welling up in your eyes, “tell me you don’t think this man is going to hurt Wanda or Billy or Tommy or even America…and I step aside…”
Maria clenched her jaw sitting right beside you turning on another of the computers, “what do you want me to do?”
Fury huffed putting his mobile out and typing really quick before making a phone call, you winced with your eyesight getting blurry every once in a while, but your fingers moving decisively over the keyboard.
________________
Wanda drove in silence, her mind completely blank reflecting what her face was trying to convey. The world passing her through was moving in slow motion, Wanda could not feel anything at all, she was just going through the motions with the weight of Vision's hand on her thigh gripping her tightly to the point she could almost feel the bruises he was leaving on her.
For a brief moment Wanda played with the idea of crashing her car against a tree or a wall. She could actually spot a couple of places that could work for her plan, she knew that whatever happened her boys would be okay. She liked to think that you wouldn't leave them alone and that maybe Natasha would also come forth to help them out. But Vision cut her hopes off when he punched her thigh pressing the barrel of the gun on her ribs.
“Don't even think about it,” Vision spoke in a dangerous whisper, the cold anger sent shivers down Wanda's back, “if we're not there by the time the clock strikes the six, Agatha will make sure our children join us in death.”
“No…” Wanda held her tongue before she could say something else.
She was not surprised that Agatha's name came into play in the conversation. The young woman had known that their neighbour had been playing on Vision’s side from the very beginning. At first, Wanda had fallen for her good-natured smile and the complicity she came by on that first meeting, it took Wanda some time to realise that all her secrets and mistakes were being told to her husband by the very woman she thought was her friend.
Soon, Wanda discovered Agatha enjoyed her suffering while also flirting with Vision and making her children's life impossible. The fact that, at the end of everything, Agatha had come forth to be with Vision in such a predicament was not a surprise at all.
“Yes, Agatha is a good pet, I have to admit that much.” Vision said offhandedly, he turned to Wanda and this time around his hand drew circles on her thigh going up and down until he was grinding Wanda's crotch pressing his knuckles harshly.
“But you, my love, have the most exquisite moans and tears I have ever seen in a woman,” he clenched his jaw when Wanda grimaced holding back her disgust but unable to hide it from his eyes.
Wanda let out a groan when he hit her hard on her thigh, he did it again, and again, and again until Wanda almost lost control of the wheel.
“Look where you are going, my love, or the kids will suffer. Now you are going to take your punishment quietly, like a good wife, are you not?”
“No.” The word came out of nowhere, it left her lips with more strength and conviction to what she actually felt at the moment.
Wanda flickered her glance through the rear mirror, Vision was left dumbstruck never before having heard such a tone of voice, or that strength behind his wife. He was so tempted to hurt her, to teach her…but, he leaned back on the seat if the car chuckling darkly.
“Sooner or later, my love, you will bend to my will.” He cocked his head pointing to the road, “for now, drive faster, we are almost there and I'm dying to see my kids.”
Wanda clenched her fist tightly around the wheel, she tried to hold back the tears welling up in her eyes. Her mind was screaming in pain, confusion and terror, she was trying desperately to give of a signal to one of the cars moving past her, she was trying to make faces or make sure anyone could see the state Vision was in. But it was as if the world was deaf and blind, for a moment she let go of her thoughts, and soon enough she thought of you.
The panic that had risen inside her went limp for a moment, the memory of your smile and your words almost made her smile. She held onto these memories, while trying to quiet down her worries. She remembered Vision's words, the story of you laying on the floor in a pool made of your own blood.
And now, she was driving to her home begging and hoping that perhaps America had decided to go to her place with the twins or opted to take them out to someplace.
She could only hope, though.
With a heavy heart, and fear she drove down the highway trying to make sure every camera on the road could take a good picture of her and the wounded Vision sitting by her side.
Time, all she needed was time.
__________
Agatha Harness stood by the window, her fingertips caressing the soft texture of the curtains protecting the intimacy of the house. She smiled, the two cops that had parked in front of Wanda's home had finished the inspection on the property talking through their radios before making their way to the car.
She turned around to see America and Kate tied together on the ground while Tommy and Billy had been frozen on the sofa. The little boys were trembling, each one of them wearing the signs of the struggle they tried to put up when they came across the woman.
The ordeal had been far too easy, nor America or Kate knew of her, and by the time the twins were ready to scream she had put the weapon against the Bishop heir. Now, all she had to do was wait.
“I don't suppose your sister keeps the alcohol in the living room, right?” Agatha put a hand on her cheek, her eyes gleaming mischievously at America who was glaring at her. “Yes, I think a house filled with teenagers would make her think twice about the storage of the alcohol.”
America struggled against the ropes on her hands, she lifted her chin in defiance only to be soothed over by the side glance from Kate and the whimpers from Tommy. Agatha rolled her eyes approaching the young teen, her fingers mapping out the features of the young woman.
“You are quite the beauty, Missy, just like your sister,” Agatha lifted a brow walking towards the closest table that held a picture of you and America, “I can see why Wanda fell for her. I have always suspected Wanda was odd, but never imagined she was into women. Tsk, no wonder she could never please Jarvis.”
The woman strolled around the room taking notice of the different objects adorning the living room, the pictures and the technological gadgets, the expensive furniture and the layout of the house. Without a doubt, you had money, and Agatha could appreciate the sleaziness behind Wanda's actions to get you wrapped around her finger. Too bad this wouldn't last,at least at the end you would be grateful that her and Jarvis would free you from such an arrogant, and quite dangerous individual.
The mobile she brought with her rang three times, her face lit up picking up the gadget from the table before turning to the twins.
“Well, boys, I hope you are ready because daddy just got here!” She exclaimed happily clapping while rushing to the sofa, she tried to put a hand on Tommy's shoulder but Billy slapped it away.
“Nos, Billy, don't be like that,” the woman slapped Billy under the muffled protests of America and Kate, she glared at the boys before grabbing both of them harshly. “You two will behave, you will go out there and greet your dad and then we will be on our way. There is a long trip waiting for us, and your dad has made a great effort to make this perfect for the family.”
America winced under the biting pressure of the ropes on her hands, she felt the slashes on her wrists and the burning pain running up her arm. To her left, Kate was just breathing with her eyes, the only indicator that she was scared. America felt like an idiot, she knew it was her fault the woman had entered the house that this freaking woman had trapped them in and then dragged them to her house so the police couldn't notice they were missing. Many thoughts were crossing her mind, she was thinking about Wanda that was looking so beautiful that day, with hope and happiness at being on a date with you, she thought about you perhaps back at work ignorant of what was happening. America wished she could do something, but her fight against the binds on her wrist had caused a lot of damage and she couldn't risk anything foolish that would endanger Kate, Billy or Tommy.
Agatha fixed herself pushing the twins forward to the door, she put on a big smile while opening the door. America's breath caught in her throat when her eyes fell on the figure of Wanda Maximoff and Edwin Jarvis. Both of them wore the signs of struggle, blood and bruises covering their bodies but whereas Wanda was scared with her green eyes falling on her children then on America; Jarvis was looking enraged.
“Jarvis!! What happened to you?” The other woman ran to her lover, but the man dismissed her pushing her and Wanda away to greet his children.
“Billy, Tommy, my boys,” he opened his arms waiting for the greeting of her children, his expression changing into one of anger when the boys didn't move from the spot, if anything their eyes went wide open sending glances to Wanda.
“Is this the way I teach you to greet me, boys?” Jarvis never lifted his voice, he spoke calmly, softly with a hint of coldness in his voice.
Wanda nodded at the twins, and after a moment of hesitation they came to Jarvis hugging him with trembling hands. Jarvis smirked ruffling their heads harshly making them wince under the pressure.
“That wasn't so hard, was it?”
The man limped inside the house closing the door behind him, he pushed Wanda further into the house before settling his eyes on America and Kate. He raised a brow quite amused at Agatha who smiled back.
“They were in the way.”
“Indeed.” Jarvis sat down on the sofa, his eyes falling on America for a long moment before pointing at Wanda, “now dear come sit here, we need to talk about the future.”
Wanda held back her facial expression, she tried to conceal the disgust she was feeling at the thought of her sitting on Vision's lap. The man path his thigh three times, and Wanda knew she would need to comply or else, this would end up badly. With some reluctance, she stepped forward knowing America and Kate were looking at her shaking their heads while Tommy and Billy cried silently sitting on the chair in front of them.
“Now, dear, we're going to talk about the future and your misdeeds,” the man passed his hand through Wanda's uncovered knee, his eyes gleaming in lust ignoring the open frown from Agatha.
“You see, Mrs. Y/L/N,” he said directing his attention to America, the young woman scowled but said nothing, “I gave everything to my wife, I took her in when no one else loved her, I educated her, dress her, I have her children, a house…and what does she do? She leaves in the middle of the day and takes my children with her. Why? Because she is a bad woman and a bad mother, and she is always defying me and going against my wishes, even though she has been mine since the very first time his father sold her to me.”
Wanda felt her lower lip quivered; the fear she was experimenting soon mixed up with the anger his words were fuelling. The muscles on her arms and shoulders tensed, her fingers twitching trying to form a fist she still didn't dare to throw to the man that had his hand on her thigh. The young woman was trying with all her might to look for a way out, her eyes found those of America and Kate and she regretted the moment she hid the truth from you or rejected the idea of this ever happening. But, what she regretted the most was dragging you and your family into this mess.
Would you still love her if something were to happen to America?
Would you still want Wanda after all of this?
Wanda needed her kids, America and Kate safe, she let her eyes wander around the room before turning to Vision. Nausea raised inside her throat, her heart almost stopping with the shiver of sheer repulsion as she lifted her hand to cup Jarvis face.
The man let her eyes wander back to Wanda, he had not lost his scowl but now there was curiosity in his gestures. He raised a single eyebrow, his lips curling slightly when he spotted the fear and submission in Wanda.
“Are you going to apologize?” He asked Wanda nodded, opening her mouth only to close it again.
The words tangled themselves on her throat, Jarvis snorted lifting his hand only to wrap in around her neck.
“You will have time for that for now I think we need to go.” He grabbed Wanda tightly making her stand up while he did too, letting out a groan of pain.
His face was swelling slowly, while the eye you had hurt was bleeding profusely. Wanda stepped back when he almost fell down, but the man held onto Wanda before straightened up.
“As fun as this has been,” Jarvis turned to America and Kate, “we will leave, I'm sorry about your loss, but surely you understand that when you mess with a taken woman the consequences may be…deathly.”
America opened her eyes, they stinged with unshed tears just as her struggle against the ropes started again. Jarvis smirked when Wanda shook her head, and desperation filled America's face.
“I'm sure you will thank me, once you are able to come upon such a good inheritance.” The man stepped away from Wanda going over to where the twins were sitting, he grasped their clothes pulling them to him harshly making them yelped and Wanda almost went to their rescue. Agatha was right on top of her stopping her before pushing her to the entrance door.
“However, if by any chance, Y/L/N survive then…you may let her know that I make sure to take my wife in body and soul,” Jarvis continued with his rant, “and that the last thing she did before the end was scream my name.”
Kate clenched her jaw trying to hold back her tears, America was still struggling trying to get free to get to her phone. Her mind wrapped around the idea of you being dead or badly wounded without any help.
Jarvis pushed his family to the door, and he was about to close the door when his ears caught the sound of guns getting ready to fire. He turned around only to see five police cars parked on the street cutting off the exit. He snarled, grabbing his own gun and pointing it to Tommy. This time around Wanda did react by hitting Agatha on the face while going to Tommy, she stopped dead in her tracks when Vision pressed the barrel on Tommy's head.
“Are you ready to risk it, dear?”
“Vision, please…take me, just…take me, leave him alone.” Wanda begged, her voice trembling with her eyes wide open.
Tommy started sobbing with Billy gripping his brother wide eyed with tears streaming down his cheeks.
The moment of tension grew amongst them, Vision ready to risk everything to get out of the situation alive. And everything would have ended in tragedy if it wasn't for his phone that started ringing. The man blinked a couple of times confused, he kept the gun pointing to Tommy while also grabbing the phone with a hint of annoyance and curiosity.
His brows got lost on the hairline, with his lips twitching back while the skin around his cheeks tensed. His eyes went quickly to Wanda who was struggling with herself ready to grab her children, Vision huffed, pressing the green button while locking his glance with Wanda.
“I am very surprised to see you survive.” His voice dripped sarcasm, a hint of anger tainting his words.
“I can't say I was left unaffected, but my people were nearby,” you trailed off holding whatever else you wanted to say to the man while fear gripped your heart tightly, “but your failure is not the reason I call you about.”
You winced when Peggy Carter and James Logan glared at you while pointing to the script they had set up for you. The man at the other end of the line chuckled darkly, the scream from Wanda and Tommy almost made you drop the phone.
“I wouldn't call it a failure if you are at the office and I am at your home with them, and your sister.”
You clenched your fists tightly, wincing when the effort tensed the bruises in your body.
“Touché.” You took a deep breath, the words leaving your mouth with a bad taste, “I have a proposal for you.”
This time around Vision was looking extremely interested, he didn't lose sight of the police patrols or the people surrounding the house. He could see everyone waiting for the action while he spoke with you. His eyes soon drifted to Wanda and the kids, before settling in Agatha who had her own weapon tightly grasped on her left hand. He weighed his options, the tension kept growing and he knew any moment now a team of negotiators would arrive to control the situation.
The end of this particular chapter of his life wasn't looking bright, and he hated that he let himself be caught in such a foolish action. He contemplated his options, but your voice soon brought to the table a most suitable deal.
“Kingpin sold you out for a pretty good deal of money you stole from him,” you let out a raspy cough, the pain shooting electric spasm through your body, “you know what will happen, jail would be your grave.”
Vision narrowed his eyes, nodding to Agatha and Wanda to go back inside the house, his hand never wavering while pointing the gun to his son. He frowned, noticing that not since the phone call had anyone done or said anything, no one had dared to even approach him or try to talk him out of the threat. Vision’s mind started working fast through the different possibilities and ways in which he could get out of the situation. Your words had made his blood run cold, a shiver of sheer terror went through him knowing that his previous associate knew of the embezzlement of the money he had done while working for the man.
How did you know him?
Did he really rat Vision out?
“He is a practical man, and I'm a woman of business. Why do you think the police have done nothing to try and take you out and away from my family?”
“Perhaps they are afraid I could keep my promise of putting a bullet in my son's head.” Vision retorted, you sighed in exasperation and the man was really tempted to put the bullet in your forehead.
“You are not an idiot, they won't do anything unless I say so. Money can buy a lot of things, Jarvis.”
Jarvis was starting to feel tired, his head was hurting and his eye was actually killing him. The sight on his right eye was getting blurry and with every minute that passed his body felt heavier and sensitive on his skin.
“And how much does your sister and her girlfriend cost, Y/N?” this time he turned to America who was torn between relief and fear.
“Enough to make an effort and call you back.”
“What about the life of my children and Wanda?”
This time around he could hear the intake of breath on your end, he smirked tilting his head until his eye was mocking Wanda.
“Ah, not that much, I see. Don't worry, I don't blame you, if she did this to me, imagine what she would do to you.”
Wanda was trembling, her arms limped at her sides. She had her eyes on her children, forgetting the tears rolling down her cheeks or the ability to move, her only concern was to get Tommy and Billy out of the situation she was in at the moment. Wanda blinked, turning to Vision wrapping her mind around his words, soon she understood who was behind the line talking to him and her heart almost stopped beating at the relief she felt knowing you were alive. How did they end up in such a mess? How was it possible that Vision had access to you? Or that he had found her and the twins?
So many questions, and Wanda was trying to gather her strength to fight. She could live with the idea of her dying or being taken away by Vision but her children…she had left the man to make sure they could grow in peace. They would have a chance.
Wanda waited with her heart at her throat, and her mind moving through different scenarios while Vision continued talking through the phone.
The room was only filled with the sound of Vision's conversation with you, everyone had their eyes on him waiting. Making time.
Jarvis snarled into the phone, finally giving into his own pain and sitting down. Sweat rolled down his forehead, her hand was trembling while holding the phone against his ear.
“I am a businesswoman, Jarvis, so I have a proposal.”
You took a deep breath; you had rehearsed this speech before but it didn't mean you felt comfortable saying it out loud. Peggy nodded curtly at you; Logan was talking on the other line while Fury was snarling orders to two different teams right outside the van you were in. You waited to hear the laboured breath of the man at the other end of the line, your mind going to your sister, to Wanda, to Kate and the twins. You should have been stronger, you should have hit first and ask questions later, you should have…
A hand placed softly on your shoulder; Tony offered a single smile shaking his head. Your lower lip quivered but the man shook his head placing a hand on his chest before pointing a finger at you. You nodded, turning to face Peggy once more.
“I have resources, I have money…more than you can even imagine.”
“I can imagine a lot.” The man stated before adding, “but right now I am imagining my freedom, and my life…with my family, of course.”
“You don't need the kids, but you need Wanda and Agatha.” You made a face, scrunching up your nose paled and nauseous, “they can be bred and I can get you someone suitable for your tastes.”
Jarvis chuckled darkly, he glanced at Wanda putting his phone out of his ear and putting the conversation on speaker.
“Are you really telling me to leave my children and breed my wife again?” Jarvis smirked when Wanda's expression faltered at those words, “how fast is the affection you held for her.”
“Again, I deal with business, not so much emotions. I needed a good time, and Wanda offered that.” You closed your eyes before continuing, “I have a jet ready, a country without extradition and the means to make you rich, give you a new life and stop Kingpin from torturing you after you decided to steal from him.”
Wanda couldn't help but lowered her eyes at your words, she was confused but she also knew there was something else behind what you were saying. She had to hope, she had to wait. Jarvis shifted on the sofa, for the very first time since this whole mess started he finally took into consideration the woman that had come to him into this mess. Agatha approached him tentatively, her hand brushing his hair away from his face.
“Do you think it is true? Do you think she is offering a good deal?” The woman was not so sure, she had seen you beside Wanda and the twins, you looked pretty much in love with Wanda and this was a little fishy for her, but so far she had let Vision's lead the way and was not about to contradict him.
Jarvis tilted his head glancing with his good eye to the woman, he grabbed her by the hair crashing his lips to hers.
“What is the catch?” Jarvis finally asked and you chuckled.
“Let my sister and Kate Bishop go with the twins, the police are not going to stop you once you leave the house with Wanda and the other woman.” You stated flatly, your eyes burning with rage, “I will be your bargaining chip, they won't dare to hurt me or intervene in any way, and you will have access to my power, my money.”
Everyone in the room went silent, America opened her eyes shaking her head in disbelief with Kate frowning. Wanda felt dizzy, her heart dripping to her feet while she tried to wrap her mind around what you just said. Jarvis weighed his options, his good eye flickered to the kids and the teens, undoubtedly they would be too much dead weight to carry around while trying to get away from the police. Wanda was the easiest option, she and Agatha would obey Jarvis's instructions if necessary while also a great source of amusement for him. Besides, you were offering something equally interesting: yourself.
Could this be a trap? Yes, of course, but Jarvis bet he could play his cards carefully and get away with it. He could get freedom, money, and a new life.
“You have yourself a deal, Y/N but I will put the conditions to ensure I'm not double crossed.”
“Very well, tell me what conditions do you have?”

No one was speaking, your hand held the kevlar best with your eyes examining the article closely. Fury and Tony waited patiently for you, pursed on your lips telling the two men you were not convinced about using this for the mission. The bulletproof vest was body contoured built to adjust to your torso to offer the best protection, it was a near-fit of military engineering.
Still, you were not convinced.
Jarvis could notice the article, and everything they had been working for could fall down in a second. Besides, Wanda's life depended on you doing your job well.
“I won't do it, Wanda's life is still on the line.” You fault out refused the item putting on your jacket, your eyes glancing from Tony to Fury.
“Y/N, this is a dangerous mission and you're a civilian, you're being sent because…” Fury started for the tenth time, you lifted a single hand shutting him immediately, much to his surprise.
“You got me and my family in this mess while keeping the identity of this maniac a secret.” There was a heavy huff behind your words, your stare hardening as you continued, “don't try to patronise me with this, you messed up and you need me, so I'll do this part my way.”
Fury rolled his sole eye ready to fight when Peggy Carter entered the trailer, her sharp eyes pinning you to the spot.
*Everything is ready, are you sure you don't want the protection?” She asked curtly, you shook your head and after a second of hesitation Peggy nodded.
“Your car is right outside, you have your phone and the tracker and the teams are getting ready.” The older woman hesitated before stepping closer to you, “your sister is doing okay, she is being looked after by Hope and Natasha, the twin and Ms. Bishop is doing fine though a little scared.”
“Thank you for the update.”
“You know the plan?”
You nodded curtly; the older woman smirked her eyes twinkling smartly at you.
“Then, let's move it.”
Jarvis had chosen an abandoned military station in the midst of a forgotten highway. The place had hosted the secret service working against the Nazis back in the 30’s, night was already there the lights of the cars had disappeared almost forty minutes ago while the radio finally gave in to the lack of signal. You drove fast, as fast as the speed limit and your car allowed it, your heart had not stopped beating with a constant thud with your mind going over and over through the plan that you had been subjected to by the authorities.
New year was closed now.
And Camp David was just around the corner.
The place looked empty, the gates had been opened recently and you could see a car parked in the distance the lights still on. Your body trembled with anticipation, the pain of your wounds pulsating through your senses keeping you awake while the night engulfed the place in a dark, and sinister silence. The car came to a stop with the lights falling upon the form of Edwin ‘Vision’ Jarvis, who was wearing the signs of the fight you two engaged in hours ago. Tension is quite obvious, the fact the man trusted you enough to come here without any questions was enough to tell you he was desperate. As much as you were.
The door of the car closed with a dry thump; your eyes shifted to Wanda who was sitting by the passenger’s seat trying to hold onto the tears while Agatha had a gun to her head. Vision smirked when he realized you kept your word of coming alone, of giving into his demands and getting him closer to the escape he needed to have his freedom filled with money and pleasure.
“You kept your word.”
“I am a woman of my word, Jarvis.” You replied limping towards the man, his smile grew nastier noticing the pain and the effort it took you to make your way towards him.
“So it seems.” Jarvis nodded to the car, and in that moment your eyes crossed for the very first time with those of Wanda. Something inside you stirred with violence, you wished you could go to her and comfort her, to tell her the children were fine and that everything would be fine.
But you couldn’t, and what you did was to drift your stare to go back to Jarvis.
“Very well then let’s get this over with, you and I need medical attention and I already have someone in mind.”
Without any warning he lifted his hand wrapping it around your neck and squeezing hard, “I think you are in no position to order me around.”
You lifted your chin holding onto his eyes, he made sure that his hand never left your throat until your face turned into a nasty red colour and your eyes filled with tears. He kept his grip on you, growling while putting his face closer to yours.
“Jarvis, please!” Your heart fluttered tenderly when your heard Wanda speaking, and you couldn’t help the curve on your lips when the man let go of you.
You took a deep breath massaging your neck, your eyes gleaming with anger and defiance, an expression Vision would have a pleasure to take off of you as soon as you kept your part of the bargain.
“I hope you know that if you double cross me or if you try something against me nor Agatha, Wanda will end up with a bullet in her head.”
You clenched your jaw tightly, nodding curtly while nodding towards the car. Jarvis snorted pushing you hard against the car opening the driver’s door.
“Come on, time is of essence right now.”
The car smell like blood and sweat, your eyes found those of Wanda and for a brief moment you could see the doubt in her green eyes, you could sense her fears and the uncertainty of the whole situation. Agatha huffed hitting Wanda with the gun, she then turned to you making a face of pure disgust.
The car was put into motion, you glanced out of the window while giving the directions to the closest private airport. Without a doubt, Jarvis knew his way around the seclude parts in the country, and while he didn’t fancy to have anyone know where he was about to go, it was quite obvious for him he needed you and this place to get away from the authorities. He didn’t trust you that much, if the police had arrived at your home he knew they would be looking for you and him after the scene at your place.
Jarvis drove fast, erratically showing the signs of exhaustion and pain that had been consuming him all through the afternoon. You could see him losing the battle against his wounds and the state he was in, just as you could notice the craziness consuming the woman sitting beside you with the gun tightly pressed against Wanda’s head. The silence in the car was only interrupted by Jarvis ragged breathing, and the engine of the car.
Soon, and after more than an hour of driving you saw the gates leading to the private airport. The place was empty, the guard that was supposed to be watching over the gates was absent though the security hut held onto white light flickering from time to time. Jarvis stopped the car holding onto his grunts before turning his eyes to you.
“Well?”
You frowned leaning forward, your head turned left and right shrugging.
“The guard is not supposed to leave his post.” You commented softly, a sigh left your lips with your eyes flickering to Wanda, “I can try and see…”
“No, Agatha, give me the gun go and see who is in there and open the gate.”
Agatha hesitated before giving in and handing the gun to Jarvis, the man enjoyed the control he had over the women in the car. Not only did Wanda obey without protesting and was now as she had always been, quiet and submissive, but Agatha was ready to comply with all he needed and wanted and you…well, you were smart, you did nothing to jeopardy your security and that of Wanda, with time Jarvis would make sure to correct your sexual deviation while submitting you to him.
The place looked empty, though Jarvis could see the workers of the night shift filling out the hangars, small cars moving in and out before settling for the night. Everything looked quite normal, a night in a private airport in which charter planes waited for a new trip, you shifted in the back seat glancing around the place while directing Jarvis to the last entrance.
“When is the plane schedule to leave?” Jarvis asked glancing back at you through the rearview mirror, you furrowed your brows putting your phone from your pocket before handling it over to the man.
“Five minutes to midnight.”
“Why? Why so late?” Agatha asked with tension dripping from her voice.
Jarvis quirked a brow, he too was quite interested in the answer to such a question. He had never known of a plane to take off at such an hour, his eyes went back to the road taking close attention to everything and everyone making sure no one would dare to stop them.
“We need to justify the flight, I told the pilot I was needed it in Paris for a meeting.” You replied shrugging, “I told him I didn’t want to wait so he got the permissions and that’s the latest we could get.”
“Permission? I thought that you could fly whenever you want.” Agatha furrowed her brows, but it was Jarvis the one who laughed shaking his head.
“Don’t be an idiot, we need to ask for permission to take off, it’s not like grabbing a car or anything like that…” Jarvis then shrugged, “I did think it would be faster…”
You huffed rolling your eyes, “no, flying it is far more complicated than driving.”
“Very well, do we go in or stay outside?” Jarvis was approaching the last Hangar, he lifted his eyes to you.
“Let’s get in.”
The place was lit up by the white and yellowish lights of lamps hanging from the ceiling; the gate was completely open with the nose of the plane pointing to the runaway ready for the trip. Jarvis exited the car walking around to stretch his hand to Wanda, the young woman hesitated enough for him to lean in and gripped her forearm tightly. You tried to step closer but Agatha stood by your side pressing painfully the barrel of the gun on your ribs.
The place was alone, but the plane had the cabin door open with the stairs down waiting to be boarded.
“Look at the efficiency of your lover, dear.” Jarvis whispered in Wanda’s ear, “soon, you will know pain, and I won’t let you die until I have taken new children off of you. Until you are begging me to end your life.”
Wanda shivered clenching her jaw while keeping her eyes ahead of her, you shifted letting your eyes wandered around before settling on Jarvis. Out of the corner of your eye you saw movement in the cockpit, Agatha narrowed her eyes shifting uneasily at the silence in the room.
You worked hard on what you were supposed to do, Jarvis needed to go inside the cabin with Agatha but Wanda was a problem. You saw movement inside the plane once more, and you could feel eyes on you.
“We can wait inside the plane,” you suddenly offered, your voice trembling while you grabbed the phone, “I can call the pilot asking where he is.”
Jarvis frowned turning to you, “why is he not here?”
“I don’t know? Maybe you can ask him when he comes,” you replied harshly earning yourself a hard hit from the gun Agatha was holding, you were seeing stars while trying to hold onto your consciousness.
“I would hold back my tongue if I were you, Agatha doesn’t appreciate rudeness, much less if it is directed against me.” Jarvis commented approaching you, he snatched the phone off of your hands narrowing his eyes he tried to see that your communications were being done with the pilot.
He read the messages, his hand clenching into the mobile when he caught sight of those messages you had exchanged with Wanda.
“Very well, I think I need a drink, I hope you have a good whiskey inside.”
You scowled lifting your chin, “I do.”
Your heart was beating really hard, so far you had only seen one gun and it was the one that Agatha had been flashing all night threatening Wanda and then you. Your eyes drifted quickly to the cockpit and then to the back office in the Hangar. Your muscles tensed in anticipation, counting in your mind so as to distracted yourself from the growing anxiety inside your chest.
You followed Jarvis who pushed Wanda ahead of him, then he went behind her and Agatha staggered behind you. From the moment she arrived to the airport, Agatha had felt uneasy; there was just something so…strange about this. It was so easy, without any unwanted encounters.
Silence filled the place, you took a deep breath.
You trusted Fury and Peggy and all the forces that had filled out your building were capable of doing what they said they would without harming anyone. Your eyes flickered again to the cockpit window, this time around you could see the reflection of someone wearing military gear inside, then the swift movement in the back office and you knew you would need to get to Wanda before Jarvis could do something.
Behind you, and totally forgotten, was Agatha.
The woman that had obsessed over Jarvis, ready to do his biding as long as she got to enjoy a piece pf affection from him. She grabbed the gun, her eyes going big as saucers when they caught sight of someone inside the plane.
Everything happened in a second.
Wanda and Jarvis crossed the threshold of the plane’s gate, with you almost putting a foot on the stairs when the woman shrieked for Jarvis to come down. She grabbed you by your hair pulling hard, while Jarvis having heard and understood the meaning behind such a scream grabbed Wanda by her neck punching her several times on the ribs and abdomen making sure his grip on her was tight almost to the point of choking.
“GO! GO! GO!”
You grunted struggling against the older woman, your elbow finding her abdomen hitting her hard until she had to let go of your hair. You heard more than saw the screams and heavy footsteps moving towards you, you turned around hearing Wanda’s gasp and tiny scream for help.
“NOO!”
Agatha screamed and then, you stood there…
You didn’t even register the sound of the gun.
But you felt the bite from the bullet, the burning pain running through your body. And then, you knew no more.

Northanger Abbey Readthrough Ch 14
PEOPLE THIS IS THE BEST CHAPTER EVER!!!! We have reached the pinnacle of Tilney awesomeness...
my heroine was most unnaturally able to fulfil her engagement, though it was made with the hero himself. This always makes me think of Evelina by Fanny Burney, where the poor heroine always is taken places she doesn't want to go. Luckily for us, the country walk is actually happening! No Thorpes! No rain! Just charming Tilneys.
One of the best earnest quotes in Austen has happened!:
Tumblr media
The narrator has taken more of a back seat at this point, but here we have the hero of the novel, openly admitting that not only does he read novels, but he loves them. Henry also seems to understand that Catherine has been mocked about this before, he's very overt in his appreciation of novels. And he calls on her to be proud of him for stealing a novel from his sister, which is just... 🥰🥰🥰 "I am proud when I reflect on it, and I think it must establish me in your good opinion.”
Now is Tilney a little pedantic? Yes. But I find it cute. Sue me.
"...But I really thought before, young men despised novels amazingly.” “It is amazingly; it may well suggest amazement if they do—for they read nearly as many as women.
Catherine has picked up a lot of language from Isabella and Mr. Tilney is subtlety (and not so subtlety) correcting it.
“Henry,” said Miss Tilney, “you are very impertinent. Miss Morland, he is treating you exactly as he does his sister. He is forever finding fault with me, for some incorrectness of language, and now he is taking the same liberty with you. The word ‘nicest,’ as you used it, did not suit him; and you had better change it as soon as you can, or we shall be overpowered with Johnson and Blair all the rest of the way.”...
“Very true,” said Henry, “and this is a very nice day, and we are taking a very nice walk, and you are two very nice young ladies. Oh! It is a very nice word indeed! It does for everything. Originally perhaps it was applied only to express neatness, propriety, delicacy, or refinement—people were nice in their dress, in their sentiments, or their choice. But now every commendation on every subject is comprised in that one word.”
Henry is pointing out both overuse of the word nice and meaning drift. You see a lot of meaning drift comparing Austen's language to ours, words like wonderful, awful, interest, etc. Nice apparently used to mean something close to "neat" and now it means "pleasant" and Henry Tilney is in a battle to preserve it. Well sorry, Mr. Tilney, but you lost. He has a point though, the overuse of a word entirely dilutes it's meaning and can make it basically mean nothing at all.
I love Catherine's speech about history:
The quarrels of popes and kings, with wars or pestilences, in every page; the men all so good for nothing, and hardly any women at all—it is very tiresome: and yet I often think it odd that it should be so dull, for a great deal of it must be invention. The speeches that are put into the heroes’ mouths, their thoughts and designs—the chief of all this must be invention, and invention is what delights me in other books.
She's so right here!
Now while Catherine does spend a lot of time in awe of Henry Tilney and his wit, she does stand on her own opinions. She asserts that "torment" and "instruct" are synonymous and to borrow the phrase of another Austen woman, she will not be laughed out of her opinion! (Jane Bennet, P&P)
Eleanor and Henry soon begin to talk about the picturesque, and from the clues it seems they have opinions similar to Marianne Dashwood and her love of dead leaves. This section is the one I see most quoted by those who think Catherine is too stupid for Henry Tilney or that he is distasteful for wanting to marry an ignorant girl.
I will first point out that ignorance is not equal to stupidity, Catherine is eager to learn. Also, I doubt Henry would have anything to do with the vapid Isabella Thorpe. Catherine may be ignorant about drawing and have trouble with discerning motives, but she is in no way an idiot. If anything, Austen is mocking this sentiment:
Where people wish to attach, they should always be ignorant. To come with a well-informed mind is to come with an inability of administering to the vanity of others, which a sensible person would always wish to avoid. A woman especially, if she have the misfortune of knowing anything, should conceal it as well as she can.
But Catherine did not know her own advantages—did not know that a good-looking girl, with an affectionate heart and a very ignorant mind, cannot fail of attracting a clever young man, unless circumstances are particularly untoward.
Does Henry enjoy being admired by Catherine in all his wit and knowledge? Undoubtedly, yes. But he also loves hanging around Eleanor who is just as intelligent as him (riot fears aside). The chief attraction here is not the ignorance. It's primarily the honesty. Here again we have Catherine fully prepared to admit that she doesn't like reading history and that she knows nothing of drawing. She doesn't pretend, she is a creature of no disguise.
Now we get to see Henry making very suggestive statements that go right over Catherine's poor head:
"...Miss Morland is not used to your odd ways.” “I shall be most happy to make her better acquainted with them.” “No doubt; but that is no explanation of the present.”
No doubt! Eleanor is shipping this couple hard. Good for her.
It was no effort to Catherine to believe that Henry Tilney could never be wrong.
Oh Catherine, you've got it bad.
We hear from an Isabella clone (her younger sister), who was left behind from the Clifton Scheme, she is with two of the sweetest girls in the world, who had been her dear friends all the morning and says:
“They set off at eight this morning,” said Miss Anne, “and I am sure I do not envy them their drive. I think you and I are very well off to be out of the scrape. It must be the dullest thing in the world, for there is not a soul at Clifton at this time of year. Belle went with your brother, and John drove Maria.”
Girl, your speech is dripping with envy so much that even Catherine Morland, our intrepid heroine, realizes that you spouting bullshit.
I will give like, 1 half point to Thorpe for actually helping Isabella out and driving his sister to Clifton. But I award it very begrudgingly.
