eponine decides to walk in the woods with her wolf nymeria. she needed exercise, and so did nymeria. she bring nymeria as a companion / guide dog as well as guardian. so she doesn’t wander lost. eponine remembers she tried to walk in a store once with nym, yet! the customers were wary of this direwolf ; as they think its eyes represent attack (inanimate dog bobbleheads in stark’s stock ++ toy store in parramatta -- the one where eponine got squishy}. wearing her pink fluffy slippers though, as they live near in the house of goosewing, in the daytime. otherwise, at night, she uses lantern. she wears clothes that drag a little to the ground, so she needs to be careful to walk slowly yet steadily. she wonders why some trees look like they bleeding blood ; she doesn’t know cass secretly climbs trees ; and in doing so, he wrecks his hands ; she is scared about the stories of a shadow siren living in forest. yet nym makes her a bit more brave -- but also realistically, she needs to walk nym & herself for exercise. forest has all these candle flowers, like lemongrass and pear and blossom and light dark pink raspberry? one flower is encased in light transparent candle case - with a golden butterfly landing on it. another flower is tiny -- white petals with yellow centre, which is less enticing view for eponine of her thinking of malevolence. eponine finds cat walking by river seine and they go flower picking as well as chatting calmly at their own time and pace, meme prompt here, with wolfish elements.

RIVER SEINE : “not one castle but two, mirror images linked by san francisco bridge. an endless susurrus, like the growl of some great beast. half again as wide as it had been last year. there is no way we will ford this, nor swim across, and it could be a moon’s turn before the waters fall again. channels had been cut from the banks, to form moats that made each twin an island. the boiling rains -- which most people remember river seine as they only rowed across it this year -- (rose-scented view) had turned them to shallow lakes.” : top of lighthouse ; white - reminds me of a person sitting alone, knees drawn up in distrust but also looking wistfully across the river obscured in fire and ash to the bigger picture city. yet the city of sharp points is not as dreamy as it seems, in its calling itself ‘saint’. there is a much fainter outline next to this, of the part void part stars ; which just means people should be treated as people, not just a saint city. ash resembles the city is not perfect, crumbling debris of fading either good or bad thing -- but just means everyone has their ways of coping, and is trying to deal with unprocessed repression of the self during their universal living, yet also try to communicate within that -- as city banding together. isaac mendez -- fugitive futurist painter vs the world. but also him and simone -- he needing to get outside on rooftop for fresh air and simone talks to him. the 100 resilient cities thing -- a person’s autonomy represents the city. isaac + peter. two sides of the same coin.

While this post is open for all, it is written for those who truly relate to this all-consuming feeling (due to ME/CFS, other chronic illnesses, mental illness, or undiagnosed causes). Not all of these may work for you, but hopefully they inspire something that will. For general low energy witchcraft, check out my Bedridden Witch Series!

As always: witchcraft is to be used in addition to proper medical care, treatment and medication; not as a sole alternative.

To draw energy:

If you cannot produce your own, magically created will be just fine!

Crystals.

I tend to use clear quartz for an energy boost, but trust your intuition; if something calls to you, it’s for a reason.

Keep it near your bedside table, under your pillow, hold it in your hand or place it on your body where you feel the fatigue most strongly centered.

When on the go, carry it in your pocket or wear as jewelry. If it is larger, carry in a bag and hold it when you need it.

Charge using a charging board or the elements.

Crystals for fatigue

Waters.

Physically touching water brings me energy. I keep jars of snow, rain, storm, river, stream (etc, etc.) water and will dip my fingers in it and mark that parts of my body where the fatigue feels strongest. Be aware of pollutants and do not ingest!

The same method can be done with tap water (or water charged under the sun or moon)

Drink sun water or sun tea (start with drinking safe water and let it absorb the energies of the sun).

Some people find moon water to be energizing (same process as above, just with the moon).

Other elements.

Note what is energizing to you and what is draining to you. Consider: the sun, moon (and it’s phases), weather (rain, overcast, snow, storm, wind), cold vs. hot, the earth, fire, air, etc.

Once you find which elements are energizing to you, find ways to incorporate them into your life. Examples: jars of different waters or soils, rocks collected from places, candles, and more.

I usually draw energy up from the earth by placing my palms flat towards the earth by the sides of my body. So if I was lying down, my arms would be at my sides with my palms facing down.

Expose yourself or protect yourself. I’ll use my personal experiences as an example here... Rain often energizes me. When it rains, I’ll open my windows, and if I’m able I’ll step outside or collect some water. On the flipside, full moons often drain me. I’ll close my windows and curtains, hang an extra blanket over my bedroom window, use water to paint protective sigils on the window and increase my wards.

Practicing the craft with energy limitations:

Tips and tricks:

I highly recommend preparing things when your energy allows, so it’s always ready to go when you need it (and isn’t dependent on current energy levels).

Cleansing: Let other things do your work for you. Open your windows/get fresh air, steam or smoke, sound, etc. Bedridden energy cleansing.

Divination: Use apps when physical movement is hard. One card spreads, shorten your pendulum so you don’t need to lift your arm, divine using the elements, etc. Bedridden divination.

Spells: Make your own spell kits. Spell jars and sachets are also an excellent way to already have the spell prepared, set it up so you can simply shake it to re/activate the spell.

Warding: Create physical ties for your wards that aren’t reliant on consistent upkeep (as a failsafe), and reinforce your other ward layers when you have the energy. I create far more layers than I need so when I am unable to reinforce them, they still protect me.

Worship: Compile prayers and devotions somewhere you can easily find and read them, have a wall altar for easy maintenance, keep offerings simple (a glass of water, for example). Bedridden worship.

Ruin Trio Thoughts

Had a lot of thoughts™ the other day about some lyrical connections across Secret Worlds, The Calling, and Inkpot Gods, initially regarding the themes of fire as a core aspect of the girl’s identity (”If you asked me for my lighter, I gave you my fire.” + “You asked me to climb, I never learned. But if you asked me for my fire, just watch me burn. + “I burned so bright it blinded, now I know that light guided me here.”) and the way water seems to primarily serve as a means of suppressing or erasing that part of herself (”I walked into the river to wring those embers from my broken heart.” + “I look into the waters and see a face I don’t understand/recognize/want look back.” / “And when the rain came down, I made a vow out to the dark, please let her live just one more day.”)

But then those thoughts shifted to connect to the use of hands across these three songs, specifically: “From every height, I’d fall, I’d call, I’d reach out for your hand.” + “I promise you I’ll write ‘I love you’ with my fingers on your sleeping hand.” vs “And I wish that I could take his hand, but where I’m going is for me and me alone.”

With regards to the fire/water themes, The Calling’s hand lyric is the one that makes my heart ache in particular. Something about the notion that she could never outright tell this person that she loved them. Would only do it quietly, through an action, keeping the words to a tracing on his arm when he was asleep and couldn’t see it for himself. The idea pervading that if she takes his hand, if she tells him she loves him, then she's bound to cause him harm when her fire becomes catching. He may ask her to climb, but she cannot follow. Not if she wants to stop the forest from burning. Right now, throughout Secret Worlds, he's safe in the trees, high where her flames cannot reach, and she will suffer silence to keep him that way. Maybe once she's gone, and they’ve gone their separate ways, he'll remember her, and write her in a way she never could write herself. Maybe he'll tell her story to those trees, too.

Except... he stays there. He's there in the escapism of Secret Worlds, and he stays during the downpour of The Calling, by her side as she endures the worst of things that try to smother her fire. He's spotting the beauty in the rain, painting it as something calling, encouraging her to become what he knows she is capable of becoming. He's quiet, a murmur in the background of her self-assurances, but he remains there nonetheless. His faith in her endures, and in turn, so does her faith in herself.

And then, in the face of all of this, Inkpot Gods begins to feel so much like the aftermath of this exchange. She’s a candle flickering in the wind, on the brink of collapse, and he says: Look. You are not broken and weeping, you are as powerful as the rain that threatens to smother you, and you are brave even in the midst of your steepest downpour. And if you do not feel brave, if you do not feel strong, that's okay, because I will fight for you, and I will weather this with you. You do not have to do this alone. And by the end of it... she is no longer suffering silence. Her voice is standing tall as the trees she could never climb, and she is singing, vowing to fight for him the same way he always has done for her.

And it's not truly over for either of them. It's only been a moment in time. She may drown in a downpour of her own making once more, and he may break down trying to save her. But this time, at least, she sings to him before he sleeps, something she could never say before in words: "If i don't make it back from where I’ve gone, just know I loved you all along."

In the Aftermath

(the Seven headcanons)

Chiron no longer has any say in who is allowed in what cabin. Annabeth and Percy find each other in one cabin or the other every night for the first year after tartarus. They will not go through their nightmares alone. Leo, Jason and Piper have sleepovers on the roof of the Haephestus cabin because sometimes inside is too claustrophobic and they cannot be inside something with walls on every side. The stars are calming.

Roman and Greek demigods teach each other fighting styles. They also teach each other overcoming. Unnecessary fights and altercations break out all across the country. It is always Greek vs Roman. Nobody ever wins. They will learn to work together. When everything is trying to kill you there is no point in doing it to your own kind.

The seven are ambassadors. They organize meetings between the two camps and continue to put out the fires that spark with nothing more than a flick.

They do not have tolerance for pettiness anymore. They say no to the gods. They say do it yourself. Chiron says they must do what they're told. They tell him to go through tartarus, and save the world first. They tell him to fuck off.

There is a haunted look in their eyes. Haunted like dungeons, and scarred earth, and raging oceans, and stormy skies, and scorched forests and death. They have seen too much. Green, grey, blue, brown, black are not colours they are prophecies.

Jason and Percy fight to make it a rule that no child under fifteen be part of a prophecy. They will not be part of a world where children are forced to sacrifice themselves before they've even entered high school.

Annabeth and Piper volunteer to teach children how to protect themselves. They join Hazel and Reyna in teaching girls how to manage their period and a monster at the same time. They make sure bathrooms are stocked with pads and tampons and anything else that might be needed.

The seven spend days at a time just hanging with each other. It is hard to look other people in the eye when all they do is look back with pity. At least with each other there is nothing but anger and love and relief and so much burning anger.

They refuse to go on quests. Rachel pours out a propechy for Leo and Leo throws up at her feet in fear and doesn't leave his cabin. It is those six other demigods who bring him soup and tea and toast and make sure his hands stop shaking. They don't let Chiron in. They don't let anyone in.

They honour the halfbloods lost in the war by burning candles across the camps every year on the anniversary of the war. Leo starts the first light in the fire pit and everyone follows. In CHB candles light a path to the Greathouse where flags fly high and proud. In SPQR the candles pave the way to the River Little Tiber where flowers float down it. They will never forget.

Sally insists Percy goes to therapy. Everyone else follows suit after his first session. He asks them to try it. They would do anything for each other.

They are alive. They tell themselves. They are together. They say. They are here. They mutter. But at what cost?

Watched Encanto again and there is just... so MUCH I love about it. In no particular order:

- Abuela’s verse in The Family Madrigal is in the same tune as Dos Oruguitas later. (Dos Oruguitas by the way? Still makes me fucking cry. It’s so beautiful)

- Isabela’s verse in We Don’t Talk About Bruno is in the same tune as Mirabel’s part during What else can I do (’He told me that the life of my dreams would be promised and someday be mine’ vs. ‘It just seemed like your life’s been a dream since the moment you opened your eyes’ - gorgeous parallel)

- I just think Lin Manuel Miranda tied all these songs together REALLY well!

- When abuela tells little Mirabel the story of the candle in the prologue, everything is animated softly and gently, like filtered through a lense. It is only later, when they are at the river and abuela recalls the ACTUAL events, that the images are clearer - we see the machete, we see the farewell kiss between her and Pedro, we see the actual HEARTBREAK on her face (in the prologue, she collapses but her face is almost blank of any expression other than very gentle sadness vs. in the finale, we are allowed to see that her face is twisted with the agony of losing the love of her life. We are ALLOWED to see the cracks).

- Dolores always whispers or barely above a whisper, excepts during her parts in All of You - because during that time she does not have her gift and so sounds are not overwhelmingly loud.

- Bruno apparently only getting that name late during development because Lin Manuel Miranda wrote ‘We don’t talk about Bruno no no no’.

- The little ‘hm’ Dolores does every now and then. Freaking hysterically cute.

-Someone explained that the overlayering of clashing melodies like in the end of We Don’t Talk about Bruno is called a ‘Madrigal’. Amazing.

- Everything that Bruno does, okay? I love him. And Hernando. And Jorge.

- Seriously the whole scene of finding him in the walls was hysterical.

- Agustin being a goddamn golden retriever transformed into a human man.

- Pepa and Felix are seriously relationship goals.Their verse in We Don’t Talk about Bruno? Superb. Felix saying that that despite the hurricane, their wedding was such a joyous day says so much about him and how seriously okay he is with Pepa’s gift being literally the worst. Like seriously, the worst.

- Camillo turning into a miniature version of their dad when cheering up Antonio. Like, we know Camillo can make accurate copies, size and everything. He CHOSE to make tiny-dad for the laughs. What a good big brother.

- Yo but Dolores is straightup a gatekeep gaslight girlboss? Like, homegirl KNEW Bruno was in the walls all this time but could keep THAT secret - but Mirabel’s secret she drops at the engagement dinner where ‘the man of her dreams’ was going to propose to Isabela? You can’t tell me she didn’t 100% calculate that, she knew 100% that spilling that secret there would derail the ENTIRE thing. Girl can keep secrets like it’s nobodies business. She probably knows EVERYONE’S secrets because she HEARS EVERYTHING! But THIS is the time and place and SECRET she acts like it’s simply impossible to hold in?? Naaaah babe. I love you, but you ain’t fooling me, that shit was CALCULATED.

- The animation right in the beginning when abuela tells Mirabel that sometimes, it’s best to get out of the way (because she can’t help like the others do with the preparation for Antonio’s ceremony). Like, the expressions Mirabel goes through in that, swallowing back the tears as she forces a smile and nods. Holy shit.

- Bruno’s prophecy showing a hug and everyone watching is like duh it’s gonna be hugging abuela but then it’s Isabela and we’re all shocked but the TRUTH is it WAS abuela she hugged, in the very end, in the river with the butterflies. THAT was the hug that mended the family. Yes it STARTED with hugging Isabela, but it was that hug with abuela that strengthened the family bonds and led to the return ofthe magic.

- The way Mirabel is just... pulled into dancenumbers like she’s a protagonist in a musical who is not actually a musical protagonist (But she is though like her opening number is a banger but also all the way through Surface Pressure and We Don’t Talk About Bruno she always looks like she’s dancing in spite of herself. I adore it.

- The GODDAMND ANIMATION OF MIRABEL’S SKIRT!!! Especially in the scene after Bruno’s room when she scuttles away from the cliff edge and the fabric looks and moves so REAL?!!!! Fucking Oscar worthy animation in that half second alone!

There’s a million more things I love but it’s fucking late and I am tired and I can’t think anymore...

empires recap - week of sept 25

the videos released from saturday, september 25 to friday, october 1 were:

-lizzie’s episode 16: she works on her tunnel, and trades with pixl

-fwhip’s episode 23: he finishes the interior of the forge, agrees to attend pearl and sausage’s arena, and takes gem’s sword to upgrade

-scott’s episode 20: he burns the arena invite and takes jimmy on a date to solidify an alliance and thank him for rescuing him

-pixl’s episode 24: he starts work on a turtle sanctuary, is blown up by sausage’s prank, and works on recovering his items

-katherine’s episode 21: she builds a babytown, shows scott and gem around, and decorates her section of lizzie’s tunnel

-sausage’s episode 33: he succumbs fully to the corruption during the arena fight, fights and loses against gem, and travels through the spirit realm to return to mythland uncorrupted

-gem’s episode 14: she attends the arena fights, fights and kills sausage, and meets with him after his return

-jimmy’s episode 16: he discusses his prograss and plans for the wall, meets with scott, and goes with joel to help perform his disstrack

-scott’s episode 21: he builds a more permanent place for his stag, successfully uncorrupts the crystals, and visits katherine’s babytown

-katherine’s episode 22: she attends the arena fights and starts work on a megabase

-joel’s episode 22: he attends the arena fights and builds a super-smelter

lizzie 16:

-lizzie continues construction on the tunnel, starting with a dungeon-themed section and trading with pixlriffs so that she can get pointed dripstone for a dripstone-themed section, which she also tries and fails to catch a bat for -after the dripstone section, she makes a deepslate-themed section, an end-themed section, an end city-themed section, a crimson nether-themed section, a warped nether-themed section, a snow section, and leaves the last section for katherine to decorate -she runs into katherine, and discovers that the tunnel doesn’t work two ways -she sets up an alert system, composed of a constantly-ringing bell near the entrance to the tunnel, on both sides -she notes that the eye of xornoth has disappeared

fwhip 23:

-fwhip discusses his new computer, and mentions that while he hasn’t been able to record as he’s been setting up the new pc he was gathering resources -he goes to collect ice in order to make a basalt generator, also powered by xornoth crystal lava -he goes to expand the sugar cane paddy, and starts a road from the grimlands to shubble’s empire in hopes of setting up an alliance between them -he goes to visit her, and they commiserate about their shared distaste for joey while he leads her to the road; she agrees to finish the road to her empire -he completes the interior of the forge and goes ancient debris mining to get a block of netherite -pearl and sausage arrive to invite him to their newly-built arena; he and sausage shoot each other several times, but he agrees -he uses the completed forge to create a new powerful bow, and heads over to convince gem to let him upgrade her sword -while he’s there, he places deepslate redstone ore around the dragon egg in order to keep it warm, despite her objections -fwhip: “insert happy egg noises here” -he brings her to the forge and shows her around; she notes that he’s gotten weirder -though not without protest, she allows him to take her sword and one of her crystals to upgrade it -he works on his librarian villagers and replenishes his rocket supplies; afterwards, joel and jimmy arrive to perform a diss track -he takes down all of the xornoth crystals and stores the lava; afterwards, he works on plotting the next section of the megabase

scott 20:

-scott plans to pay jimmy back for saving him from sausage and joey’s kidnapping, and decides the best way to do so is take him on a date, which he plans to make a “love cave ride thing” for, and solidify an alliance with him -he sees the arena invite from pearl and sausage, and burns it -with it thus taken care of, he returns to his planning for his and jimmy’s date, and starts excavating a cave -he terraforms and decorates the cave, with foliage, a blanket in their colors, their banners, cod named things that are significant to him and jimmy, the pufferish of peace, and then builds the actual rail -he builds a heart-shaped tunnel which he hides in case the first portion doesn’t go well, and a balcony -he puts on a flower crown and goes to find jimmy to ask if he wants to go on the date; jimmy says yes, and he gives jimmy a poppy upon arriving in rivendell -he shows jimmy the cave, including the cake, which prompts jimmy to run around to lose hunger; when he asks scott to do the same he briefly drowns to lose hunger -“i’m drowning for you!” -jimmy asks him to keep it secret, to which scott agrees; jimmy asks if they’re becoming allies, and scott says if he wants to -he shows jimmy the heart-shaped tunnel and the balcony; scott says he built it just for jimmy, and jimmy again asks him to keep it between them -jimmy asks to take the poppies, and destroys the flowerpots not realizing he can right click to get them -jimmy leaves, and scott says it went well

pixl 24:

-pixl shows that the tentacles have recovered and multiplied, and hypothesizes that he’ll have to join forces with the other empires to actually defeat them -he reads the letter from joel, and agrees to give him what copper he has -he meets with lizzie, and trades her some pointed dripstone for two turtle eggs so he can populate the river with them; she suggests bringing axolotls to take care of the salmon in the river -he starts work on a turtle sanctuary, with a small cave so the eggs can hatch without being harmed, and decorates the area around it -he describes his plans for a residential area inside something akin to an anthill to the north, and shows a block palette for it -he sees the arena invite from sausage and pearl, and plans on attending -he shows the newly-hatched turtle, and helps it grow up with seagrass -he meets with joel to give him copper, and doesn’t currently have as much as he needs; he provides him all of the copper in his ender chest and aging farm -joel mentions the mythland embassy, which pixl was unaware of; after they finish collecting the copper they go to see it, and find out it has a perpetual bell-ringing device. pixl says it’s probably a trap, but enters anyway; when he opens the door, several tnt minecarts fall from the door, which he hits with his sword, detonating them and blowing up almost all of his items -pixl says it was a prank he can respect, but says he’s still going to ruin sausage’s life for it -he adds candles to the vigil for himself and katherine, whose death showed up in chat, and notes that he has no idea if the count is still accurate -afterwards, he works on getting his items back, and goes to fwhip for help in getting his armor and sword recovered before the arena fight, hoping to use his forge, and pays him in calcite for the netherite

katherine 21:

-katherine shows the eyeball, corruption, and crystals, saying that her land is overrun, though she finds the crystals pretty; she gets rid of the corrupted trees -katherine plans to create a baby town for people to stay in if they need; she steals some of the other empires’ blocks in order to build them -she starts with a tower of her own kingdom, and builds miniature versions of all of the empires before she works on paths, terraforming, and general detailing -she leaves something specific to each empire in the corresponding building along with a chest and bed, including corruption in joey’s -she puts her list of official allies in her own tower, which includes all but three people -she builds a baby town sign and shows off all of the building -scott and gem visit, and she shows them around; they comment on how many allies she has, and point out that she’s allies with the people who kidnapped them; they remove sausage’s sign -they are unenthusiastic about joey and sausage’s mini builds -scott mentions he un-corrupted the gems, and points out that they’re above key locations in everyone’s empires, which katherine had not noticed -she shows off lizzie’s secret tunnel, and builds a section of the tunnel themed after lizzie’s empire; she sends a bunch of purpur to test it -she notes that the eye is gone

-sausage begins by reading his will, explaining that he’s sorry he wasn’t strong enough to resist the corruption and dictating how his belongings should be split up -it transitions into possessed sausage, who is deriding the sappiness -sausage says that it all ends tonight, and everyone will be coming to the arena; he’ll go full corrupted and sacrifice every other emperor -he explains that everything is in order and things will be fine without him, regardless of whether or not he comes back; he says that at least a zombie villager still has hope of being cured, but he doesn’t, as only a more powerful being could even stop him and there’s none other than xornoth -he mentions the mythland embassy in pixandria, and talks about pixandrian spies who tried to warn pixl, but it was too late; he cuts back to when he was building it and the trap he laid, and footage of pixl’s death via his ravens -he says that after the arena fights, “you’ll never see your king again” -they welcome the others to the arena, and accost fwhip for trying to sell things on their land without a permit -they proceed into the arena fights, beginning with joel and pearl vs fwhip and pixl; the gunpowder boys win via fwhip burning to death a few seconds after joel -pearl and pixl fight with just axes and shields; pearl wins -joel and pearl fight with axes and shields; it ends in a double kill -they introduce xornoth, and pearl immediately challenges him as the others start to panic; it spawns pillagers, ravagers, zoglins, and vexes, among other mobs, which the emperors defeat; he introduces his champion, who turns out to be sausage, and he starts hunting down the others, able to kill them in one or a few hits -xornoth directs him to kill them all, and he does so -afterwards, sausage notes that gem got away, and goes to the crystal cliffs to find gem and potentially pick up the dragon egg -he comments on the artifact in his inventory, not recognizing it -gem comes to confront him, and tells him to stay away from the egg; when he threatens to take it and burn it, she says she will protect it with her life, and they start to fight -they engage in a chase and fight both through the air and on the ground, traveling between gem’s towers; she retains the upper hand for most of the time -they end up in her largest tower, which is the place she’s most powerful; suddenly, he switches to his possessed voice, and says he’s sorry. he gives her the staff and begs her to kill him, which she does -he wakes up unpossessed in the spirit realm, which is a room with a table and several gateways with void behind them, one of which is a lit nether portal -there are five unlit portals on the sides, one lit one, and a central unlit portal; there’s also several broken portals -he finds a book on the table, which details that he must travel back to past lives in alternate realities via the portal, and bring back what he loves most to activate the central portal and either be returned to life if the gods deem him worthy or sent to the next plane of existence if they don’t -he goes through the portals, and ends up in his hardcore world, where he correctly guesses that the thing he cares about most is bubbles, since sir carlos said she would guide him back; he retrieves that world’s bubbles, and notes that she’s not the same bubbles as he summoned to empires -he returns to the spirit realm through a portal decorated with cyan candles and warped nether blocks; he repeats the process with his oneblock skyblock world, sourceblock smp, his hardcore season 1 world, legacy smp season 1, and his singleplayer world in the season 3 area -the final world is in mythland colors, and provides him armor and elytra when the other ones did not; he comments on it, but since the final portal is open he ignores that and the broken portals and says goodbye to the council of bubbles before he goes through -he ends up on the bridge in mythland, where gem finds him; she says that she’s missed him, and he says that he’s missing memories; when she shows him the staff she took from him, he says he wants nothing to do with magic, and drinks the potion she gives him -he asks if they can be in an alliance again, and she says they’ll have to talk to fwhip; they agree he should go sleep for now, and she tells him not to use the leftover sleeping potions. on his way to bed he asks her to deal with the demon cats and says he might be xornoth’s target now, and that he’ll say how to defeat xornoth when he wakes up

gem 14:

-gem tries to think of what she can do to make the egg hatch, but is interrupted by fwhip putting deepslate redstone around the edge; he says it’s to keep it warm -he shows her the grimlands forge and asks to upgrade her sword; reluctantly, she agrees, and provides a crystal to use for it -she finds a build request from jimmy to build custom swamp trees, and says it’d be fun; however, she’s interrupted by seeing some pillagers, who she puts in boats and names loon, viktor, and aries, making them her first citizens -she goes to the codlands and builds four custom trees -she works on pacifying the pillagers, and successfully has each one break their crossbow; she says she’ll make buildings for them soon -she finds the arena invite, and says she’ll go to make sure everyone stays safe, since she warned pearl about sausage -she spectates the arena fights, and shoots katherine after joel dares her to; when xornoth arrives, she helps fight the mobs, but drinks an invisibility potion and flees when sausage begins hunting the other emperors -she ends up back in her tower, and sees sausage approaching the dragon egg; she confronts him, and tells him to leave the egg alone -they start to fight, and she chases him, declaring that he’s in her mountains, and they fight in her towers, ending in the largest of them; she tells him that she’s most powerful there, and he gives her his staff and begs her (in his normal voice) to kill him, which she does, getting the “serious dedication” achievement from his scythe -she goes to mythland to look for him, and finds him on the bridge, unpossessed; she tells him she’s missed him, and he asks if he killed people at the arena, since he doesn’t remember -he reacts violently to the sight of his staff, and returns her crystals, saying he doesn’t want anything to do with magic; she agrees, and gives him a potion to drink -she encourages him to go to bed, and he does -she returns to the crystal cliffs, and checks on the hat, which says that she can take it now; she does, and works on fortifying the crystal cliffs by taking down the original gatehouse and replacing it with a larger redesign, and puts her grumpy panda in the gatehouse in a boat -she catches some more pillagers, and adds one to the tower of the gatehouse -she says she’ll study ways to stop xornoth, and ends the video with some behind-the-scenes and bloopers clips

jimmy 16:

-jimmy shows the two new pieces for the fanart shack and his cat, norman -he shows off the custom trees which gem built, and the back wall of his megabase which he built -he shows the area where the next wall will be, and explains that he had to remove a mountain which was in his way, so fwhip helped blow it up in return for an iou, which fwhip used to make him carry a salmon; jimmy hid it under one of the tentacles, refusing to carry it around, although he can’t destroy it -he says that he’s going to put the wall in and fwhip will terraform the crater by next episode -he says that he accidentally deleted his footage from his and scott’s meeting, but scott sent his footage, which he’s using -scott leads him into a cave decorated with foliage and various significant things to the both of them, including a cake; jimmy runs around to try and lose hunger so he can eat it; scott drowns to do the same -jimmy asks if they’re becoming allies; scott says if he wants, to which jimmy agrees -scott leads him down the “tunnel of love equivalent” and to the balcony; jimmy attempts to take the poppies but doesn’t realize he can take them without breaking the flowerpots -he says he has something from katherine that he needs to see, but before that joel arrives to deliver his diss track to fwhip; it actually ends on a compliment -joel and fwhip decide to fight scott together, and jimmy says he can’t because he and scott solidified an alliance -jimmy specifies that he didn’t know they were going to go after scott, and finds katherine’s message, so he goes to go see the baby town she’s built; he finds it overwhelmingly cute, and wonders why xornoth doesn’t have a build

scott 21:

-scott plans to make a space for jimmy to build an embassy, relocate his stag, and research the crystals, since they’re copied off of the one in his enchanting tower and there might be a way to reverse their corruption -he starts with the stag, and decides to build him a cave, but before he can he notices the eye of xornoth in the background; he tells it to go away, and decides to keep his voice down when he talks about defeating the corruption -he goes back to dig out the cave, and decorates it with plant life and gold to mimic the cave he was found in and protect him, and moves the stag in -he goes to study the crystals in the library, hoping to find some way to fix them; he discovers that he could be able to turn them back using something to channel his magic and things from the other empires, so he collects things from each of the embassies, some gold, and alinar’s antlers to channel with -he says he hopes he was some kind of witch in a past life, and combines the items in a cauldron; they turn into a set of splash potions which he uses on the crystals. there’s no immediate change but when he goes to sleep and wakes up they’ve changed to cyan, yellow, and white, with gold inside, and the eye is gone -he puts away the antlers and says that his citizens will be glad he’s finally doing something -afterwards, he and gem go to katherine’s baby town, where she shows them around, including her list of allies; he points out that it’s most of the server, and gem accuses her of having no loyalty -katherine says she likes xornoth’s crystals, and he explains what he did to them, and points out that they’re above key locations; katherine hadn’t noticed

katherine 22:

-katherine says she’s really never done a megabase, so she wants to do one; she doesn’t have much space in the flower fields, so it’s going to be in the air -she finds the arena invite and says she’s interested, so she plans to spectate -since she has some new heads, she drops off the duplicates and adds a new floor to her head collection -she attends the arena fight to spectate; gem shoots her on a dare from joel -xornoth arrives, and she asks to receive any heads people get from the mobs it spawns; when xornoth directs sausage to kill them all, she tries to run, and is killed multiple times; however, she manages to obtain more mob heads -she decides that the crystals are pretty but it seems like a good idea to remove the lava, and does so; afterwards, she works on planning for her megabase, and collects wool from her sheep and from scott before she builds a large grass platform and the wool framework for the building

joel 22:

-he plans on working on both the interior and the outside of the megabase; for the interior, he intends to light it up and also work on building a super-smelter -he notices a weird shadow, which is probably a texture glitch -he works on lighting up the palace, though he has some problems with creepers exploding and damaging the palace; he leaves the holes for the meantime though he says he will leave it -the palace isn’t entirely spawnproofed, but he decides to move on anyway -he finds the arena invite, and decides to go -“you know me, i love hurting people” -he removes xornoth’s banner, saying he doesn’t know what it is, and puts it in a corner; he also teams up with pearl to fight fwhip and pixl, and loses by burning to death a few seconds before fwhip does -he dares gem to shoot katherine, which she does, killing her -he fights pearl using an axe and shield, ending in a double kill -xornoth arrives, but joel actually can’t hear him, and asks gem and fwhip why pearl is talking to herself; when sausage starts attacking people, he drinks an invisibility potion he was given by fwhip and leaves -he goes back to working on the interior, and gets to work on the super-smelter; he pauses to kill some horses to fill up his horse head room, and gathers some wood for chests before he works on the super-smelter, which takes multiple tries as he continually notices pieces of redstone that he’s missing. however, he eventually manages to get it working -he builds a room around the super-smelter and works on filling in the missing copper, then builds the two missing walls and places some of the moss in the center

let me talk abt this because it has been NAGGINF me but you're into history right? because i kept getting those victorian time killers videos recommended and damn sometimes i wonder how the human kind survived that era they literally died because of ANYTHING. put some chalk powder in their bread, boiled themselves to dead because of their bathtubs that were like giant cooking pots, let their children play with toys with lead LIKE??? how did we get out of that 😭😭

i know, right?? i sit and listen to seminars about victorian foreign policy and legislation (honestly it’s a lot more interesting than it sounds, palmerston vs aberdeen beef transcends centuries) and every so often, i remember “oh yeah, while this is all going on, parliament eventually had to spend a shit-ton of money on developing london sewer systems bc dumping waste into the Thames STUNK OUT parliament buildings so badly that NO ONE WANTED TO WORK THERE.”

imagine having a river so filthy and thick with sewage waste that it drove politicians to spend an outrageous amount of money on public renovations bc it stunk out their place of work and they couldn’t keep dousing their handkerchiefs in scented oil and holding them to their faces in meetings. in a capital city. a capital city of THE BRITISH EMPIRE. ‘civilised west’ my fucking ass.

i could go on to talk about the insanely crowded city centres, with back-to-back houses with literally no windows. i repeat, no windows. when you don’t have electricity, so you’re just lighting candles with NO WINDOWS TO VENTILATE. eventually, the government called for back-to-back housing to be demolished bc of health hazards. eventually. in 1959.

ahem. yeah, so that was another fi history ramble. victorian british working-class people went through hell, and classism continues to haunt the country to this day. fun fun 🙃🙃

From ancient grudge (house of the dead vs house of the snake) break to new mutiny (jingle jangle, Penny’s evil milf ways, the fact that Gladys would never accept Malachi into the Joneses), where civil blood (Hiram Lodge threatening to tear their love apart, Mayor McCoy’s vendetta) makes (un)civil hands (our enemy-to-lovers Romeo and Juliet heroes) unclean. Look, this ship is perfect, I have only good things to say. Bret: Obnoxious prep school hate-sex we all need. Both kids obviously have some SERIOUS DADDY ISSUES, which means that they are going to light up the other one’s psycho sexual insecurities. In addition, Bret has a poor/rich and a denial (possibly a degradation) kink, so he loves Jughead. For gifts, Bret writes himself self-insert fanfiction for Jughead and leaves it around for him to find, then gets off on Jughead’s disgust. He also brings Jughead river rocks as mementos. <3

Sweet Pea: ANOTHER ENEMIES TO LOVERS. Wow, does the sweet, sad, soft boi of the Southside have a type or WHAT? Evidently, Sweet Pea was très jaloux of Toni when Jughead was spending so much time with her when he moved to Southside High because he kept showing up and making comments about it, pulling Jughead’s pigtails. He also hit Jughead with his precious knuckle-dusters, which he polished especially for the occasion. Like Betty, he wanted Jughead to study more in senior year and he is annoyed at FP for being a shit dad to Jughead. He and JB text a lot on Jughead updates. In fact, there is a Serpent group chat where Jughead is not included so they can speculate on his whereabouts. Sweet Pea was also jealous of the attention Jughead gave Archie for his music playing, so picked up an electric guitar to show that he is the infinitely better choice.

Relationship type: Bros are Hos ;) (or the jock/nerd trope)

Reggie: So when Jughead learnt that Reggie COULDN’T spell necrophilia, he offered to tutor him, a suggestion that earned him a shoulder to the chest from Reggie (look, Reg could fit into the top category as well). Reggie knows that Jughead’s language of love is matching (we’ve seen bughead wear the same outfit many times), so he grew his mullet as Jughead grew his own hair. He has NO IDEA how to talk to Jughead and basically just chest slaps him as a form of communication. He has considered giving his letterman jacket to Jughead, I am sure.

Archie: Tibby has the best comments on the jarchie longcon, which I adore reading about and their takes are LITERAL PERFECTION. I ALSO ADORE this video and this one by julietophelia. I think Jarchie is the most plausible queer ship for Jughead (despite my adoration for enemies to lovers), and I can imagine them up at all hours of the night writing and boxing respectively, before settling in to video games on the couch and calling each other ‘Sweet Prince’ or ‘Red Paladin’ and ‘Hellcaster’. The would have the nerdiest, sweetest relationship wherein Archie basically wouldn’t realise that he was in a relationship, even after everyone pointed it out. Also Jughead seems to be very forgiving of Archie’s past infidelity, so who knows, he might continue to be?

Relationship type: Have I ascended to queer nerd heaven? (or 'i will kiss thy lips. Haply some blue poison doth yet hang on them')

Dilton: MY LOWKEY FAVOURITE long term queer Jughead relationship because the way they talk to each other! OMG. The OG bunker fuck buddies, sharing Area 51 stories, their obsession with their knives (they could whittle together as old men), their prep/scout uniform fetish, they both love filming things (imagine the porn they would shoot! <3), ancient technology (or, is this just Riverdale technology?). BOTH OF THEM ARE DEATH-WISH-FILLED RECKLESS PSYCHO NERDS. PERFECTION. Dilton stabs and poisons himself (rip, my love) and Jughead finds a new way to get himself murdered every season. Thess vs the Right to Protest

Let me explain a little of what’s happening in London right now. Because I know the US has issues much like it, but their police and governments handle it ... very differently.

The first thing you should know is that there is a bill currently in its second reading: the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill. Summary is that it will give the police much greater powers to crack down on protests, giving them the power to shut them down if they’re deemed in any way disruptive. Which, of course, is the point of a protest, even a peaceful one. Everything from “too noisy” to “this is stopping businesses from operating” will be valid reasons to shut down a protest by whatever means necessary under the law. Curfews. Time limits. The whole nine.

Now. Just under two weeks ago, a woman named Sarah Everhard went missing. A few days ago, her body was found. A police officer was charged with her kidnapping and murder - and the fact that the police haven’t said dick about it beyond that means that dollars to doughnuts? He did it, there’s no way they can say he didn’t, and they’d like it to fade into the background and die.

Except.

There was a vigil at Clapam Common yesterday - just a couple of miles down the road from me. The police turned up in force. Like, serious numbers. This for a large gathering of mostly women holding a vigil for a woman who was kidnapped and murdered by a representative of the people who are supposed to defend people from that kind of thing. Yes, I know, COVID. I can’t blame them. Most of them were masked (the Duchess of Cambridge turned up kind of performatively - and I say that because she made damn sure to have her mask off when laying her bouquet, all the better to be visible in photos), and they were being peaceful. Flowers. Candles. Signs.

Except the police decided that this was enough and shut it down hard. The response was disproportionate ... particularly when you consider that police were less harsh on BLM protests and way less harsh on the jackasses who waved around Nazi symbolism and ‘defended’ statues that no one was threatening after one bunch threw the statue of a slave owner into a river. There was violence that has not been mentioned in the news reports much - something about a woman getting elbowed in the face by a cop and when called on it, the cop said, “Yeah, shame, innit?” And then there’s the picture that’s doing the rounds - a woman, in her mask, with a look on her face that’s somewhere between terror and resignation (and don’t all women know that look far too well; isn’t that the point?) borne to the ground and handcuffed by way too many police.

Remember this: the police turned up and manhandled a bunch of women who were holding a candlelight vigil for a woman who was kidnapped and murdered by a police officer. To say the optics were bad would be massively understating the case.

Fast forward to today. The woman who runs the London Metropolitan Police (Cressida Dick, so ... yeah, that’s fun) is happy with how the police handled yesterday, welcomes an inquiry, and refuses to quit. Now, the current Mayor of London ... Sadiq Khan is a former human rights lawyer and he is not happy with this bullshit. He’s not happy with Dick’s attitude about it either, and his response is leaving Dick fighting for her job.

Then there’s Priti Patel, the Home Secretary. She’s got a reputation for being a bullying asshole, and ... honestly, she is. While she’s not happy with Dick’s handling of the situation, the sense is that she’s more unhappy about Dick letting her people rock the boat before the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill can get voted in by Parliament while everyone else is distracted by the COVID / Brexit double-whammy. Because despite the increasingly bad optics of the situation, she’s still stubbornly clinging to that “Right to peacefully protest? Not in MY country!” bullshit.

And she’s right to be concerned, because today, people assembled in London again. This time it wasn’t a candlelight vigil in Clapham Common. This time it was a protest march between New Scotland Yard and Parliament Square. Yes, people were asking that Cressida Dick get sacked ... but more of them were shouting “KILL THE BILL!”

I know it’s COVID time. I know this is the worst time for public gatherings. Our death rate is finally down below triple figures this week, and we don’t want to fuck it up now. But this time? This time I can’t even roll my eyes. The government wanted to use the quarantine to take away our right to protest without us even noticing. Now that we’re noticing, we have to do something. We need to protest while we still can, because with an 80-seat majority in Parliament, the Tories can have it all their own way.

So now I look out the window at the city I still love and the country I now loathe and never wanted to move to in the first place, thinking that it’s nearly forty years too late for 1984, but here we are...

FUCK.

Star On Wheels - A car chase through a southern California freeway is the best way to show Star and Marco’s trust deepening.

Fetch - A dog from another dimension tries to fry its own brain to catch a break. I’m sorry, what?

Star Vs Echo Creek - Star runs away from accepting responsibility from a crime she committed and Marco spends all day and all night trying to look for her (but we don’t see that part).

Wand To Wand - Wand to wand, man to man, hand to hand. Both Star and Ludo learn to use their half of the wand.

Starstruck - Star learns the same lesson we all do, never meet your heroes.

Camping Trip - River travels dimensions through sheer force of will to be a third wheel to Star and Marco’s camping trip.

Starsitting - Babysitting is the best way to show how Star and Marco’s dynamic would be married with children.

On The Job - Buff Frog does as any good single dad would do and goes out to try to bring home the bacon...er, corn.

Goblin Dogs - The show beats down the Marco money joke until we’re introduced to a character I slowly start to hate.

By The Book - Glossaryck uses his omniscience to fuck with Star, and we learn that Ludo does know Marco’s name.

Game of Flags - Star makes her own team of two with Marco at a family reunion as they a play a game that everyone is a little too into. It’s like playing football at Thanksgiving in Texas. Even the people who don’t like football are suddenly experts.

Girls’ Day Out - Star and Janna totally become friends as Marco gets a reminder of that Jackie body. I mean, DAMN.

Sleepover - A magic box voiced by Goku forces the characters to develop.

Gift of the Card - Star and Marco act more like a canon couple than most canon couples and my favorite character name is introduced.

Friendenemies - Tom and Marco actually bond over boy bands and karate movies. I’d actually buy into this if Tom fans hadn’t been talking shit to me this whole time.

Is Mystery - Buff Frog goes up the ranks of everyone’s favorite character list by furthering the main plot.

Hungry Larry - An interdimensional terror is the best way to teach Rafael that adult fear is legitimate fear.

Spider with a Top Hat - My eight year old niece turns to me and asks, “Are we still watching Star vs?” because neither one of use could believe the crap we were looking at.

Into the Wand - We learn that Toffee is corrupting the wand and the magic but Star doesn’t figure it out until much later.

Pizza Thing - Pony Head makes everything worse for Marco because she’s Pony Head. It’s kind of her thing.

Page Turner - Star proves that she’s a Gen Z-er by believing that ancient dark voodoo whatever isn’t a big deal.

Naysaya - Tom does something wrong again and again everyone tries to tell me that he didn’t, and even if he did, it’s okay.

Bonbon The Birthday Clown - Star vs pulls a hard Toradora by having Star realize that more Jarco time does mean less Starco time. Ludo steals the book and changes the game for the characters and the plot.

Raid the Cave - Star and Marco pull a Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Star’s parents do what all leaders do and try to downplay the severity of the crisis.

Trickstar - "Weird” Al Yankovic sucks the joy out of people which is the opposite of what he does IRL.

Baby - A cute little cat thing gives Star a reality check.

Running with Scissors - A crazy episode about Marco getting his own dimensional scissors has so many terrible ramifications through the fandom. Like my God I fucking hate all you dumb motherfuckers “He’s 30. He’s 30.” THINK FOR FIVE FUCKING SECONDS YOU PIECES OF SHIT. DID NO ONE THINK WHILE MAKING OR WATCHING THIS EPISODE? AARKDAKL;SDF
