Jedi robes on Initiates and Padawans are large and roomy for the young to grow into. A Padawan might not get back to the Temple with a year of flying between constant mission, and it’d be embarrassing for a growing adolescent to have exposed arms and ripped seams.
Jedi robes on full grown Knights and Masters have multiple layers to help others. Another layer given to their Padawan or non-Force sensitive companions could save a life from the cold or sickness. Drop a layer as a decoy and still have the essential gear still on them.
Obi-Wan is the first to rip up his robes and tunics to use as temporary bandages until the Clones can get to a medic.
Cody is annoyed and heartened to see his General in only what is pretty much torn up short shorts and boots after a battle.

Jedi Headcannon:
Now, I know this has probably been already though of but... I wanted to do my own take on this one so...
Jedi and their kyber crystals. Let's go!
I have a few ideas about this one.
First: the kyber crystal to a jedi is what armour is to Mandalorian. And it's been something that has been talked about and written about some. But I don't think it's mentioned and/or used more so here I am.
Second: to touch a kyber is like interacting with Jedi's soul. This is the biggest vulnerability a jedi can show, to anyone. So it is usually considered rude to even ask to see the kyber. That's why the gathering is such an important thing. Bc the babies of the family are getting their souls or the vessel which their soul shall inhibit. As such, the construction and taking care of a saber is also a private family affair.
Third: the kyber is quite literally the physical representation/body/vessel of a Jedi's soul. The Jedi have instincts (at least the Senior Padawans and above bc the little ones need to learn first) to protect their light saber, their crystal and thus the very vessel of their soul outside of their bodies. As such, it not only is their life but also a vulnerable part of themselves. So when a jedi lets you even touch their light saber it means they trust you with their kyber, their soul, their very being. And I think that's beautiful.
And with that, watch as Obi-wan let's Cody hold his saber, and Anakin giving Padme his during Clone Wars. And suddenly it's much more emotional and important.

You know how kids will try to change the color of lights by tying colored plastic sheets over the glass or coloring the glass with markers? Imagine a little jedi kid trying to do that to change their lightsaber color. It doesn't work for a lot of reasons, but that won't stop the kids from trying.
"Padawan we must learn to accept when things do not happen as we wish."
"But Master! I wanted pink!"

How about Jedi using the Force to clean up their room. Looking at all the stuff on the floor/bed/chair, just going 'nah' and levitating all that crap to sort it more easily.
Flicking the light switch with the Force before going to bed because they're too tired to get up.
Stirring a pot of food with the Force because they're busy working on a report or something.
Using the Force to grab something in another room and carefully float it all the way to where they are to save time.
Building stuff like a shed or doing house renovations and just lifting the stone/durasteel/duracrete slabs and beams Jean-and-Erik style.
They have straight up telekinesis and it's SO underutilised. (It's okay btw, they're totally allowed to use the Force for casual stuff, Lucas told me so.) Like, guys! They can move stuff! With their minds! That's one of the most OP comic book super ability and they ALL have it naturally and it has zero of the typical drawbacks. They can just float stuff around! That's the housekeeping DREAM!

Do the Jedi know more than they’re letting on?
I’d like to talk about a theory I’ve been working on, regarding Jedi secrets.
Tumblr media
I’m sure you all remember Qui-Gon Jinn getting attacked by a clearly lightsaber trained assassin, identified to the audience by that point as Darth Maul.
Tumblr media
And presenting his (correct) theory to the Jedi High Council, upon returning to the temple on Coruscant.
Tumblr media
At first they dismiss it, because the Sith, as noted by Ki-Adi-Mundi, AKA Jedi Master Potato-Head, the Sith were supposedly wiped out during a war a thousand years earlier. Sadly, they are forced to conclude that Jinn’s theory was correct, after his death.
Tumblr media
Now here’s where things get sus. During the funeral, Yoda notes that there are always two Sith. Now at the time, this likely just meant that at their height, the Sith operated in master and apprentice pairs, same as the Jedi. But then, as the Sith were fleshed out in expanded materials, we learn that Yoda was referring to the Rule of Two.
Tumblr media
Darth Bane, the last surviving Sith, established the Rule of Two moving forward, in order to prevent the in-fighting that hampered the Sith’s efforts against the Jedi, as well as take advantage of it, with a focus on quality over quantity.
The Rule of Two states that there shall only ever be two Sith at a time. A master and a single apprentice, who will only become a master themselves when they’re able to kill their predecessor, and then take on an apprentice of their own.
Tumblr media
Admittedly, a few Sith Masters (most notably Palpatine/Darth Sidious) have bent this rule by training Sith Assassins, Acolytes, and Inquisitors to serve as manpower and as candidates for the next apprentice, but the Rule of Two has served as doctrine for the Sith for the last millennium.
Tumblr media
Now the problem here is that Bane was a survivor of the aforementioned war, and therefore established the Rule of Two after the point where the Jedi believe that the Sith were driven to extinction.
So, how the hell do they know about it?!
Tumblr media
To return to the council meeting, you’ll note that Jedi Master Potato-Head is the only one who outright dismisses the possibility. Mace Windu is skeptical, not of their survival, but of them returning (or becoming active again) without the Jedi noticing, while Yoda initially stays silent, before countering that the dark side might be easier to miss than Windu believes.
Tumblr media
My theory, this isn’t the first time the Jedi have encountered the Sith in the last thousand years. Even if we assume that the Rule of Two cycle was carried out two to three times a century, that’s still between twenty and thirty Sith masters, and who knows how many failed apprentices like Maul. What are the odds that none of them had a run in with the Jedi, in all that time, that didn’t leave a Jedi survivor? What are the odds that no masters tried to corrupt a Jedi into becoming their apprentice and failed, alerting the Jedi?
Tumblr media
Windu and Yoda are the Master of the Order and Grandmaster, respectively, which are basically the two highest positions it’s possible to reach in the Order. If anyone’s going to have access to the secrets that the Jedi Order has chosen to suppress, even from the other council members, it’s them, especially given Yoda’s long lifespan, he likely had a few firsthand experiences.
There’s been a greater examination of the Jedi’s failings and poor decisions in recent years, so their making an active effort to suppress knowledge of Sith survivors could be a prime example of a long standing example.

I'm thinking Jedi Initiates and Padawans,,, they're kids, right? So, they've got to have kids jokes, right? So, I had thoughts:
*slight inconvenience happens* "This is going to tempt me to the Dark Side"
Trying to imitate Yoda's voice
Playing baseball or rounders with lightsabers and rocks
Midnight feasts or sleepovers, shushing each other when Jedi teachers come by
"I bet you can't Force lift me over that wall" "Watch me!" *proceeds to not be able to lift them over the wall*
"Last time that news was relevant, Yoda was a Padawan"
Just a lot of jokes about Yoda

❗️JEDI BRAID HAIR❗️
Little initiates who want to know what they'd look like with a padawan braid
Padawans every morning (when their masters don't get to it first!)
Knights practicing for when THEY get a padawan
all the jedi can braid hair, even if their species does not Have hair!
Imagine a clone who has not been able to get a haircut because War. Now imagine their jedi general noticing and offering to braid it.
Imagine clones wearing little braided bracelets.
Imagine them burning those bracelets because they were not allowed to give funeral rights to the actual bodies.

Among other instruments, Barriss Offee plays the flute.
Depa Billaba plays the ocarina and has a lovely singing voice.
Madame Jocasta & Katooni play the violin.
Luminara Unduli plays the harp.
Dooku's a master of poetry & songwriting.
Mace's favourite song is Fur Elise.
Stass Allie & Shaak Ti sing lullabies for the younglings.
Quinlan Vos plays the ukelele.
Qui-Gon plays the guitar.
Anakin sings to Ahsoka when she can't sleep.
Obi-Wan learnt a variety of instruments, and taught some of his troops to use them.
Shaak Ti's voice is so soothing to the clones that Vode An sounds like a lullaby when she sings it for them.
Ahsoka's a gifted singer and flute player.
Rahm Kota likes laments and drinking songs.
Master Arca is fond of storytelling and folklore songs.
Mira loves Rock & Roll, and plays the electric guitar.
Jolee Bindo likes tribute songs.
Visas Marr's singing and ocarina playing is both beautiful and heartbreaking.

a jedi that’s had to un-succumb themselves from the dark side both by themselves and with the help of others not because of like inner turmoil or anything but because they have horribly bad luck and some days nothing seems to go right. like they stub their toe or sum and for a sec just bullettime grayscale effects than back to normal

ok but the jedi temple has acolytes right? like, supplicants who come to the temple, and non force sensitive people working for it? do you think any of these people were accountants or do you think that this was like. a branch of the senate or something that the temple hired? because the answer to that probably significantly changes how these people feel about the jedi.
because none of the jedi pay taxes, or were even raised with the concept of money!! How annoying would it be to look through a jedi knights* financial report for missions?
jedi accountant 42 looks down at the page in front of him, reading only bought banana on mission. jedi accountant 42 looks at the amount paid. ten dollars. jedi accountant 42 sobs. this is the 69th report out of 420, and they are all identical. jedi accountant 42 reminds themself that at least they don’t have to send another memo to the council about anakin’s skywalkers fifth attempt at tax evasion

I can't stop thinking about possibility of star wars as media existing in (slightly more peaceful) star war universe.
Look, star wars is basically sci-fi western about truck driver who yada yada yada, we all know it.
So technically it could be "terminator type" holonovel. Real world but more drama, some sci-fi clones, mythical evil force users who establish fascist regime/apocalypse.
Alderaan can be equivalent of New York getting nuked in star trek; Clones killing jedi because of chips are skynet two steps removed; whole secret relationship/twins is plain shakespearean drama; jedi might be equivalent to spies presented as James Bond — yeah spies/jedi actually exist but they're not that impressive or dramatic, or literally saving world from obliteration
Just think about it

Jedi HCs - what they plan for a date
No attachments who?? We stan attachment in this house
On AO3
Tumblr media
Obi-Wan
OH YOU MEAN MR CHEEKY ROMANTIC
first stop, the cafe closest to the temple grabbing drinks on the go
he'll use the chill of the Coruscant air as an excuse to pull you close by your waist, giving you a cheeky grin as he does
you're going to the bookstore
you pick out your favorite and he picks out his
then you swap them, and with drinks in hand find a cozy corner to settle in
you read each other's favorite parts and share why you read them over and over again
the night ends with you tucked into his side as he walks you back to your home/chambers
he'll part with a soft kiss on your temple bidding you goodnight, your favorite book tucked under his arm
Tumblr media
Ahsoka
because she is a LITERAL CHILD in TCW, we're talking Rebels up Ahsoka
hope you like your dates with a side of taking down an empire
she's matured and isn't as snippy as she once was, but Ahsoka never loses her impish attitude
you're going on rebel missions together, but she's putting a romantic twist to them
for every database you hack, you get a kiss
you love undercover missions because Ahsoka will always make your covers centered around your relationship
in fact you notice the two of you tend to get more undercover missions than most
it's a coincidence you're sure
Tumblr media
Quinlan
get ready for an adventure
or something along those lines
Quinlan doesn't like to stay in one place too long and he's always keeping active
so his idea of a great way to bond is doing something active together
picture adventure courses, star wars arcade, escape rooms
he's really freaking good at escape rooms
he totally cheats and uses the force
expect hours of witty banter and holding your stomach from laughing so hard
Quinlan came to play
Tumblr media
Rey
OH YOU MEAN MY SWEET BABY ANGEL
i wish she'd take me on a date
i digress
she grew up on her own in the middle of a desert
and now she lives in another desert
so coming up with date ideas isn't part of her skill set
to her just spending time with you is more than she could ever ask for - it's literally a first for her
she wants to share the galaxy with you
so she'll grab your hand and drag you onto the falcon
with a twinkle in her eye she'll turn to you and ask "where to?"
ok she's actually pretty good at dates

Jedi and their sexuality according to my brain
Qui-Gon: unlabeled, he just tells everyone he falls for an individuals soul not their gender or sex.
Obi-Wan: Bisexual, I meaaan have you seen the guy he's a bi-icon
Anakin: heterosexual
Ahsoka (ik ik shes not a jedi but oh well): Lesbian, idk how to explain this but it's there
Yoda: Gay, this I also don't know how to explain, but if Yoda was played by a actual person he would have been Leslie Jordan

I love the gag that Kit Fisto just really loves swimming at any opportunity and will walk around shirtless, completely oblivious.
