Here’s something terrible for everyone to know. Cal Kestis was probably the last Jedi to get his kyber crystal from Ilum.
He was one of the only people left who knew how to get into the caves, and no one else would dare go there to get one.
Just something to think about I guess.
The death of the Jedi was a tragedy, and to me nothing represents that better than this. Thousands of Jedi went there for their kyber, and Cal was the last of a dead people
Jedi telekinesis makes me feral because this is a thing.
The fact that they can hold without holding. The fact that they can cradle their own crystal souls without touching. Like the crystal is a firefly they're cupping with a grip so light it's actually light itself.
They can hold butterflies without killing them. The hands wielding the unfathomable power of the universe can be the gentlest of hands, gentler than a breeze.
It looks so magical and soft and peaceful qsdfghgfdfghfds I love them
Now, I know this has probably been already though of but... I wanted to do my own take on this one so...
Jedi and their kyber crystals. Let's go!
I have a few ideas about this one.
First: the kyber crystal to a jedi is what armour is to Mandalorian. And it's been something that has been talked about and written about some. But I don't think it's mentioned and/or used more so here I am.
Second: to touch a kyber is like interacting with Jedi's soul. This is the biggest vulnerability a jedi can show, to anyone. So it is usually considered rude to even ask to see the kyber. That's why the gathering is such an important thing. Bc the babies of the family are getting their souls or the vessel which their soul shall inhibit. As such, the construction and taking care of a saber is also a private family affair.
Third: the kyber is quite literally the physical representation/body/vessel of a Jedi's soul. The Jedi have instincts (at least the Senior Padawans and above bc the little ones need to learn first) to protect their light saber, their crystal and thus the very vessel of their soul outside of their bodies. As such, it not only is their life but also a vulnerable part of themselves. So when a jedi lets you even touch their light saber it means they trust you with their kyber, their soul, their very being. And I think that's beautiful.
And with that, watch as Obi-wan let's Cody hold his saber, and Anakin giving Padme his during Clone Wars. And suddenly it's much more emotional and important.
Really loved that scene in rebels of Ezra craddling his crystal // ahsoka and hera gossiping about stupid things kanan used to do as a youngling in the temple

His eyes wandered down to Anakin’s right hand, that was caressing Obi-Wan’s lightsaber. The durasteel thumb hovered over the ignition. Should he activate it, the blade would pierce through his former Master’s body with ease. Yellow eyes were gleaming in the pale face with its sunken sockets. A slow smirk played around scarred lips.
“Someone once told me; this weapon is your life.”
Anakin’s voice was raspy, he wheezed slightly, a sound that was closely associated with him since Mustafar. The hilt quivered in his hand and Obi-Wan could hear the kyber-crystal inside wail in despair with the onslaught of dark energy that was pumped into it.
Once, the crystal had sang to Anakin, too, had recognized him as an ally, a close friend.
“It would be a shame, if it was used to take it, don’t you think?”
The artificial thumb brushed over the ignition a second time, just as a tongue darted out to brush against chapped lips. The lightsaber floated into the air, silenced as soon as the contact was gone.
The echoes of the crystal’s despair haunted Obi-Wan for the following weeks.
