When it comes to your muse's voice, do you prefer the original or dub voice actor for them?

//I'm gonna be very real here, nonny: I have never watched the dub in its entirety, but I have watched some clips from the US dub over the years (which I assume this question is about? If not, please correct me!). While I can appreciate the efforts of the voice actors involved in the dub, the reality is that.... the dub feels pretty butchered to me, especially in PB, as far as I could see. Between fake British accents and a very posh manner of speech even for characters who have slangy, sometimes actually vulgar, speech in the original (Speedwagon, namely, but not exclusively), and just.... being toned down overall with the cussing and the overall intensity (along with the shit talking between Spw and Zeppeli getting completely taken out, though that seems to be a translation mistake as most translations miss it, too for some ungodly reason), and this is something the dub actors have sometimes commented they did. Heck, Spw's dub VA has even joked about how the original VA probs died during the recordings due to how intense he was, lol. It's a decent dub and all, but the original dub in Japanese is leagues better imo. Plus, I feel like the dub lacks the "unspoken feel" they tried to show in the og for some of the characters through their voices (Jonathan's sweet/gentle side, Speedwagon's -sometimes over the top- intensity, Dio being terrifying and imposing even with words alone, Zeppeli's quirkiness, etc).

All that said, I totally favor the Japanese voices. As chopped as the PB anime is, there is a good reason DP spent so long doing the cast for its voice actors (months in most cases, iirc? Speedwagon being one of the characters that took them the longest to find "the right voice" for), and it shows!

So, yeah! I think I also mentioned it somewhere in the About pages, but my voiceclaims for Speedwagon (as well as the side muses) are their og voice actors for the anime and later games! So....

The Stardust Crusaders’ Picks for a First-Dance Wedding Song Headcanons

↳ Gender Neutral Reader. Joseph Joestar is excluded.

A/n: A chill list of headcanons that came to me at 6 in the morning. Jokes aside, I loved putting this together. Although I admit I am a bit biased since I’ve always loved retro music. I did my best to pick music that coincided with the music the characters each canonically listen to (at least, as far as we’re told).

Jotaro Kujo

Canonically speaking, Jotaro’s favorite musician is Toshinobu Kubota. It’s admittedly a rather interesting choice for a man who was a dedicated delinquent in high school.

But music tends to touch people in a special, often times sensitive, manner. And despite looking and acting the way he does, Jotaro’s music preferences are no different.

Yeah, sure, he’s definitely a “whatever’s on the radio” kind of guy, but he has taste.

Separated from others, when he’s in control of the music he’s listening to, his choices give the impression of a casual listener that somehow always has the best picks seemingly with no effort put in at all. Perfectly on brand for Jotaro.

Therefore, he’s likely going to have an unexpected pick.

Therefore, he picks a sappy ballad from an under-appreciated 80s movie. Not because he’s even seen The Labyrinth by any stretch of the imagination, but because he just… likes how it sounds.

He likely heard it one way or another, completely detached from the movie itself, and decided he enjoyed it. Something about the slightly cheesy yet instrumentally enchanting tune gets stuck in his head in a really good way.

There is a reason past “oh, it just sounds nice” as to why he picked it but let’s be honest… he’s going to get a little embarrassed annoyed if he has to explain to you in full detail.

The title pretty much speaks for itself, in his opinion.

Noriaki Kakyoin

Good god, he’s certainly the Sting fan.

Whether or not you actually like Sting it’s hard to argue against the fact that Kakyoin likely has an overall shit taste in music. Why is this the case? Because he’s been alone the majority of his life and didn’t have any friends to bully him over it.

Not having anyone around him to say “what the hell is this” or just a simple “no” will and has effected him.

He’s the type of guy who claim’s “this album will change your life” before putting on some of the worst pieces of music you’ve ever heard.

Not that he isn’t trying, keep in mind.

This man will stress about what to suggest for days on end. He’s going to take the longest compared to the others in how how much time it takes him to pick. It’ll eat away at his brain, threatening to take every bit of his sanity unless he can think of what he deems as the perfect song he can choose.

And still he manages to not only choose an extremely predictable wedding song, but an insanely creepy one as well.

It’s weirdly charming, in his own odd Noriaki way.

He likely didn’t know what he was doing at the beginning of the relationship due to inexperience, and it’s probably heartwarming to know some things never change.

And it’s completely possible the stalker-ish lyrics of the song didn’t click inside his brain. Not because he doesn’t understand the lyrics per se… but because the poor guy hardly had a grasp on what was actually considered romantic when you first met.

Please, for your own sanity, don’t let the song played at your wedding be one that he picked (with hindsight he’ll probably thank you for it too).

Jean Pierre Polnareff

Polnareff’s favorite musician isn’t ever canonically specified, but it’s made pretty clear he’s likely a fan of The Beatles. And considering he went through puberty during the 70s, he’s likely going to lean into that era of music.

Generally speaking, he’s got decent taste. Sure, he’s got the music taste of a white suburban father, but his picks are usually pretty agreeable.

That said, he’s definitely a little high and mighty about it.

He won’t go off on the subject too hard whenever you’re around, but he thinks very highly of his preferences. Polnareff’s a huge victim of nostalgia, and a part of him feels a little elitist for having grown up in the time period that he did.

He has had the song for his first dance picked out in the back of his mind for years, swearing that it would be played at his wedding at some point or another.

Hell, he’s probably got a full roster of music in mind for the reception.

For such a monumental occasion, he’s sure to pick a ballad that starts off slow but crescendos into the chorus- easily the type of romantic tune he’d prefer.

And unlike the others, you may get pushback from him if you don’t want that as your first dance. He’s quite stubborn, generally speaking, and this is no exception to that.

Ultimately though, he would eventually cave and do just about anything you want.

But as stated before, he’s had his mind set on this one for literal years. So certainly expect this to be a somewhat tough conversation to have with him if you prefer something different.

Muhammad Avdol

Avdol’s music taste is left as a complete mystery in canon.

However, because he runs his own shop, he’s fairly attached to the calming instrumentals he often keeps on at the store. Avdol understands atmosphere well and takes it very seriously.

When he’s not working, it’s not very often that he finds himself listening to music.

But when he does, it’s usually music with soft or ethereal overtones (you cannot tell me he doesn’t listen to Enya). Throw in some charming oldies from the 50s and 60s, and Avdol’s in his element.

To put it simply, easy-listening tunes are his freaking jam.

He also enjoys listening to music from all across the world. Avdol is likely well-traveled, and is undoubtedly knowledgeable on other places and cultures. So the preference comes naturally to him.

He’s going to pick something very romantic and slow. A song that, even if you maybe haven’t heard it before, upon the first time listening you just know it’s meant to be played at a wedding.

And, unlike the others, it would take him less than 24 hours to have made his choice. It’s not that he doesn’t put care into the decision, he just doesn’t like making you wait. He’s quite efficient when it’s something this important.

Regardless, he’s the most flexible of the group when it comes to your tastes, so anything you want is perfectly fine with him.

That said, it has to be a ballad. That’s his main request. Avdol’s eager for your input, sure, but he’s going to want to slow dance with you more than anything else.

a fun little thematic wrinkle to jjba that I've always adored is how the main villains are always the ones who are blessed by holy forces/fate. DIO the literal god who has the three moles on his ear representing good fortune and his literal angelic apostle pucci. kars the unmatched evolutionary genius that surpassed both heaven (the sun) and earth. lady luck is on the side of yoshikage kira. diavolo the literal devil who is blessed by fate in being able to circumvent it. funny valentine who carries the corpse of jesus and the holy tears. tooru and his ability to have calamity always protect him.

the main villains are always seemingly on the side of fate one way or another, and it's a great contrast to the joestars specifically because the defining trait of the joestars isn't their sense of justice, it's the curse that follows them. joestars are always fated to face impossible adversity and die young

in a way it's that the curse of the joestars is stronger than whatever divine protection the main villains have.

but there are also emporios final words to pucci: walking the path of justice is fate itself. so even though you have the inevitable fated conflicts between the joestars legacy and the brando legacy, the reason the joestars come out on top is always because of their sense of justice. more than anything, arcs like rolling stones and radio gaga go a long way to show a certain inevitability to the narratives of jojo. rolling stones saying that they were all slaves to fate regardless.

the curse of the joestars may be stronger than fate itself, but the joestar legacy isn't the curse, but the ability to overcome both it and fate itself.

"The year 2006, we find Holly Kujo, recently left a single woman living on her own. Taking a visit to the states to visit her parents and collect her life again. However when intercepting a strange letter in the mail asking for the elder Joseph Joestar to meet, claiming to have found someone bearing the “Joestar family birthmark” attached with an obscure image of a starshaped mark blessed upon someone's skin. Holly, worried about what may come of this if she doesn’t follow up, but not wanting her father involved in something like this at his age has taken it upon herself to investigate on her own.

However upon arriving to were she was told to meet, she find the location to be a beautiful upscale building with an more than shady underground fighting ring specifically for stand users to fight. When meeting her informant, a few things come to light as the letter that brought Holly here seems to have held more than a few false leads. Information learned all too late as Holly find herself being thrown into the belly of the beast as something dangerous is lurking in these waters and the employee’s of ring the seem to think Holly is the answer they’ve been looking for.

JOSEPH JOESTAR ARMY & JOSEPH "MOXXIE" JOESTAR MARINE CORPS heard the strange noise at midnight during the war of Alcatraz island/WAR ON WRATH inside the basement, it wasn't shower & it wasn't dungeon. Helluva boss army didn't come to invade Joseph Joestar army until tomorrow morning but it wasn't Buckzo Blitzø, Moxxie knolastname, Millie & Loona. The Alcatraz island was haunted by ghost/sa'ahl & demon/devil for unknown reasons.

Joseph "Moxxie" Joestar/Moxxie Joestar discover the unholy place the basement of Alcatraz dungeon was the abandoned Satanism church where the noise coming from & someone or something was inside the main prison. They're not alone & they're not normal like Blitzø, Moxxie, Millie & Loona.

The 4 original helluva boss character are becoming the nightmare than lost god from FNATI the lost ones, a size similar to catnap from poppy playtime chapter 3 & their eyes are black & colors of records (color & black dots in the middle/center) then they can ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ at sinners, human & animal.

Alastor the radio demon (from Hazbin Hotel) reaction to unknown agreed to JOSEPH JOESTAR ARMY & he got scared & unhappy/not happy. He report to WRATH, greed, gluttony & his army (envy) about the demon in Alcatraz island & they're ready to possessed by the heavenly (7th of heavenly sinners instead of 7th of deadly sinners).

05. death xiii, part two┊ ┊⋆ beyond the stars

buckle up folks, this one’s gonna be longer. tw // mention of cuts, literally just follows death xiii episode

Setting up a sorry excuse for a camp was not an easy task. Could you even call it a camp, you and the guys sat around a fire and the baby's basket sat at the side of your circle. You had decided to go check on Kakyoin, while Jotaro investigated the plane's radio. Polnareff berated Kakyoin, feeling a little guilty, you divert the attention to the baby. "Hey, the little guy's fever is gone." You noted, Mr. Joestar and Polnareff immediately divert their attention and you went over to your phone to update Mariah, who you wondered if she was getting sick of your updates

Upon your new knowledge, a sigh was let out, and you brought your attention back over to the commotion in front of you.

"Hey Kakyoin! What on earth are you doing?"

"N-Nothing..."

"What were you doing trying to hold they baby's head like that?!"

Feeling sympathy for Kakyoin, who seemed to grasp the severity of his actions, he retreated to a rock farther away, head in his hands, rubbing his face, as if trying to erase his seeming insanity. Mr. Joestar tended to the fire and attempted to prepare a meal while you joined Jotaro and Polnareff.

"You guys...about Kakyoin...what do you think?" Polnareff inquired. "He had some nightmares and got us into this situation and then he got mad at the baby...I think there's something wrong with him, he just doesn't seem stable."

Should I let this go? Should I let a baby be the one to do it? I know Lord Dio's foresight has been wavering and in a way, this stand is borderline foolproof, no one is gonna suspect a damn baby. Not to mention the morning amnesia and elm street rules. I'm really growing fond of them. . .I shouldn't let a damn baby be their downfall.

"I think he might just need a good nights rest." You reasoned, not wanting to rock the boat. Jotaro grunts at your answer and Polnareff shrugs, then departs to Mr. Joestar. Jotaro goes to light a cigarette and you wander over to join Kakyoin.

"Hey, are you doing okay?" You ask, showing genuine concern.

"Ugh, yeah, I'm sorry you had to see me like that."

"It's okay, I've only been here for a week and this trip is already getting to me too." You awkwardly laugh, attempting to lighten the mood. Kakyoin seems deep in thought.

"The baby showing up out of nowhere either way is weird, right? Especially with no stand attacks as of today?"

You paused for a moment. Your heart rate picked up. Lying was one thing, but lying to the one person who welcomed you with open arms was harder. How do I respond to this?

"Yeah, I guess it is a little weird."

"I'm going to show you something, don't tell the others, they're going to freak out." He rolled up his sleeve and showed you the letters carved into his arm. Baby Stand. It read. Your eyes widened. "This is my handwriting and the cuts were made with the knife I have." He explained, then pulling out the knife and showing you. "I don't remember doing this though, how could this have worked?."

"These cuts are decently fresh." You note, avoiding Kakyoin's inquiry. You dug into your small bag and pulled out some bandages. "I made these the other day, I had a feeling I would need them at some point. May I?" Kakyoin looked at his wrist and then up at you. You placed gauze on the wound and wrapped the bandage around it with care. Focused on treating the wound, you didn't realize the pair of violet eyes that studied every movement you made. As you finished wrapping his wrist and fixing his sleeve, you looked up at him and noticed his gaze. Kakyoin had flushed pink, knowing he had been caught. What Kakyoin didn't expect was that you shared a similar reaction. Suddenly, the dusty lavender in his eyes became so vibrant to you. Your heart rate quickened, not with anxiety, but with adrenaline. I should not be having this feeling.

Your shared longing gaze was interrupted by the baby gurgling and moving about in the corner of your eye. You let go of Kakyoin's wrist and you both snapped your head's in the baby's direction. In the baby's hand was a safety pin with a scorpion skewered onto it. Your wide eyes and jaw agape, Kakyoin rose and called to the group circling the fire. "Mr. Joestar! Did you see that? The baby is dangerous! He just killed a scorpion in the blink of an eye!"

"A scorpion?! Where?!"

"In the crib!" Mr. Joestar rushed to pick up the baby as Kakyoin tore up the crib in search of the scorpion skewer. "(y/n)! You saw it right?!"

Shit. shit. What do I say? Do I side with the rest or Kakyoin? Take a split down the middle? God how can I say neutral. That thing is technically my ally!

"I thought I may have seen a scorpion, but that's all." You muttered quietly. Your heart aching at the lie, especially against Kakyoin.

"Mr. Joestar, I have no doubt in my mind this baby is a stand user!" Kakyoin persisted, presenting his half-bloodied wrist after ripping off the bandage you had so carefully wrapped. "Look at these cuts on my arm! They have to be a warning from the nightmare!"

"Kakyoin..." Jotaro interjected with gloom on his face and in his voice. "Did you do that yourself?" Kakyoin only got more agitated. "This is becoming ridiculous! Heirophant Green!" He summoned his stand and went for the baby, only for Polnareff to knock him out cold.

"It's a pity; poor Kakyoin has lost it." Mr. Joestar lamented. After everyone, including the baby, had a poor excuse for porridge, they went to sleep. Utilizing your Stand by the fire, you aimed to create something useful in the dim light. Drawing inspiration from your boss' collection of knives, you conjured up two. God, I hope this works. Eventually, you succumbed to sleep.

You woke up to a flourescent world around you and the faint smell of. . .kettle corn? "Why are we..." Joseph began to look around. "Sleeping in the dead center of an amusement park?"

"That's right! This. . . this is it!" Polnareff exclaimed. "I've been here."

"Wait, where's Kakyoin?" You asked and looked to Jotaro for an answer.

"What Kakyoin said is true! This is a nightmare world! This is a trap!" Polnareff began to explain this nightmare realm and the amnesia that followed. As the commotion continued, Polnareff's hair grew to a comical height, you laughed and went to take a photo, but there never is any phones in dreams. Things only unraveled further, Mr. Joestar's hand acting up and Jotaro's chain dragging about. You however remained untouched due to where your loyalties lied. "What can I do?" You called, almost hoping it was nothing, you didn't want to get involved in the discord.

"Lali hoooooo!" Death called. Jotaro summoned Star Platinum, but to no avail, as it was only a dummy for Death's amusement. Though the flattened Star Platinum would've typically made you giggle, you found it difficult to laugh in the horror. Death began to monologue about victory, only to be interrupted by another Hierophant dummy, initiating Death's struggle "This is the real Hierophant! Impossible! It's not a dummy I created!"

"Lali Ho yourself." The familiar voice cut through the built tension, causing it to ease. "Kakyoin!" All of you had exclaimed. "Men, (y/n)" He grinned and nodded to you, causing you to break your gaze on him in embarrassment. "Did you forget I summoned Hierophant before I fell asleep?" The cursed stand cried out, Hierophant maintaining his grip. "It's time for payback, baby." His gaze sharpened, like a predator going in for a kill. Something about this had made your heart flutter in admiration, maybe it was his intensity and confidence, or maybe it was the way he said baby. The world may never know. Death XIII swung with all his might to reach Hierophant behind him.. "I don't care that you're a baby, I'll snap your neck like a twig."

Everyone rushed over to the man in the teacup and began uttering apologies. You followed suit with a goofy smile on your face, almost forgetting where you were. "You fools, this is still the nightmare world." Clouds above began to swirl. Do I have those throwing knives? I made those with my stand before I went to sleep so I should have them. Reaching into your jacket pocket, there they were. As Death prepared his attack, you launched your knives at his body, they went right through. Useless. "Kakyoin! Get Hierophant away from his back!" Jotaro warned, but it was too late. Both Hierophant and Death XIII were sliced in half. Kakyoin was on the floor for a brief moment and you felt... panic? Tears swelled in your eyes for a moment. "Nah, I'm just kidding." The redhead turned silver smirked and you instantly felt a wave of relief. The next moments were a blur, only remembering Kakyoin triumphantly defeating Death XIII, as you woke up in a haze. Being last to wake, you smelled reheated porridge from the night before. Kakyoin was... feeding the baby? What on earth? You walked over. "You seem to be chipper this morning." Kakyoin glanced over his shoulder. "Good morning to you too."

"Man, what a night that was, I'm surprised I feel so well rested, I'm even more surprised you're feeding that thing."

"So you remember?!" Kakyoin exclaimed suddenly. "The guys, they don't remember, it just felt like a bad dream to them. I wonder what made it different for you?" Meanwhile, the baby was struggling to eat his own slop.

"Well, I may have used my stand before I went to sleep." You broke eye contact and fiddled with your own fingers. "Y'know, just in case you were really right." Kakyoin grinned and put a firm hand on your shoulder. You looked up into those deep purple eyes you're growing oh so fond of. "Thank you for your help with my arm yesterday, and thank you for well, believing me." You could only grin at each other, until it was time for your own breakfast. The men all chatted about how Kakyoin had "miraculously" gotten better. "I told you all he needed was a good night's sleep." You joked. You felt at ease. Despite the crusaders being the enemy, you actually found comfort and enjoyment in spending time with them on this journey. (It might've also helped that the Dio's stand users were instructed to not harm you.)
