After spamming y'all with my gig pics (haha), here's another try on a gig report:
Joker Out in Munich Strom, 26.03.24
- I arrived rather "late" for queueing, at 15 o'clock. Got nr. 50 general access, which was more than fine. The queuing people were really nice and lots of bracelets and fan art were exchanged.
- the weather conditions were so much better than in Cologne and the venue had way more infrastructure around (restaurants, shops with toilets).
- the venue itself is rather small. The stage was packed with the four boys in the front. Jure wasn't easy to spot ☹️ but no barricade!
- Sector 5 and JC Stewart were performing really well. People were singing along and cheered.
- Kris seemed to be on better terms health wise. He smiled and was more expressive with his face.
- they were given lots of gifts and crowns. Unfortunately, there's still people throwing stuff on stage. One item even hit Jan 😳 Guys, don't do it, please!
- besides the regular tracks, they played Omamljeno Telo (😍) and Barve Oceana. New songs were Sta Bih Ja and Schlager
- At some point, Nace circled around Jan and he kept on pirouetting
- Not to forget the ALMOST kiss of Kris and Nace: Kris was grabbing Nace's white button-down and shook him affectionately. While pulling him close, his face got super close to Nace's.
- UM was done without Bojan in the crowd. He tried keeping it short, kinda, but... Well... Lots of Slovenian versions, one from a child from the crowd, a Finnish one, German and Swiss-German.
- Jan and Nace were snickery hubbies again. In Cologne, Jan wore a white shirt, in Munich it was Nace. I'll just leave that information for you
- All in all, it was a good and joyous concert.
- After the concert, the boys had headed to the bus quite quickly. Jan was seen shortly, but other than that mainly Kiki and Dean. They have a gig in Milano today so they probably had/wanted to leave early.
- But that gave us time for a spontaneous Tumblr meeting. It was so lovely to talk and interact with you 🫶

Ohh to be a little clown in love with the one man who stubbornly insists on seeing the humanity in you despite everyone else viewing you as a monster and regardless of how inhuman you try to make yourself out to be

You know, beside Steph and also Duke, I think Dick would make an amazing Red Hood. This boy hasn't forgotten his roots and also he'll be able to go apeshit for once lmao.
I have to disagree with you there friend I don't think duke or Dick could do the red hood thing especially Dick tho considering his background wasn't poor just bc they were a circus act doesn't mean they weren't comfortable and Dick doesnt really have that strong connection to Gotham either he has a stronger connection to Bludhaven (and I'd even say new york) then he does to Gotham

Bruce wrote character profiles for each of the Gotham Knights batkids in game and they are all pretty basic 1-2 paragraph blurbs for obvious reasons, but this bit in Red Hood’s lands like a punch. No detail, no context, no mention even of the man who killed him. And I am sure that in many other Batman media this is not the case but gosh even the idea that the official Bat report of Jason’s death is just Bruce’s bottom line, which is entirely unfair to himself and especially to Jason: “Batman failed. Jason was murdered.”

Why is Oswald being extremely sexist and sending a woman to human traffic one of my favorite comic book depictions of him?
I mean, it isn't the version of him I consider closer to my personal interpretation or even to modern cannon and is not my favorite penguin centric story (that would be the complete opposite as it's the thanksgiving little gotham one, he's just too cute there I can't). But it's genuinally soo good. He is such a horrifying vilan there and it's a top tier charactherization (on the sense that his characther fits the story well and his progress during there is logical and great). I love everything about it. It's awfull. And I hate Penguin there but it's also a phenomenal work. The artstyle, how the story makes so we can understand why Oswald is how he is but still not forgive him or even justify his actions only explain it, the way the relationship is subtly presented as toxic, the fact the waiter could pretty well not be laughting at him at all on the restaurant scene, all the horrifying ways Penguin destroyed a man's life. Joker narrating was kindda weak, it didn't sound much like him at most points and it's easy to forget it but the sense that this is coming from Joker's mouth and even than Oswald it's the worst person there is pretty telling and I rly enjoy it.
Love it. Top tier. Best one of the Joker's Asylum for me (at least the first ones, I did not read the second Joker's Asylum stories yet).

i like the concept of a multi backstory Joker, not because i think Joker shouldn’t have a definitive one (i’ve come up with a rather indepth-complex one), but because i like wondering all the ways someone could end up like Joker. You could be Joker. Anyone can become Joker.

You know what’s interesting?
Dick didn’t set out to murder Zucco with the intent of being a killer. He viewed it as an unfortunate byproduct of his actions.
His real goal was to “purge the world of criminals” because “darkness needs light.”
Do you realize how unhinged that sounds? It means Robin wasn’t created from anger. It was created from the messed up psyche of a child who realized at 8 years old that the entire world needs something better than what it was given and so he went out and became it.
I cant properly explain how insane that is. It’s like putting the logic of the Joker inside the mind of child but turning it for good. Everything is falling into place now. That is why the Joker hates Dick-he is the one Robin the man couldn’t break. Literally COULDN’T because when he’s facing Dick, he’s facing the version of himself that would have existed if he had put himself to good. That was would break HIM.
Imagine spending the better part of your life doing your utmost worst to show Batman that people and the system are inherently evil only to have him fall head over cowl for a version of yourself to completely invalidate your reason for existing. How psychotic would you turn when you realize you have nothing to prove?
This also explains why Dick is so well adjusted and sociable in a way that Bruce and the others aren’t.
Bruce loses it when he loses his children, he thinks it’s a failure of his abilities and doubts his life’s work.
Jason loses it when he thinks he’s been replaced because his reason for being is having someone care for him.
Tim loses it when he comes to a dead-end. He feels helpless and lost when he doesn’t know the next move because his reason for being is being able to solve what’s wrong.
Damian loses it when he feels abandoned. He feels hurt and broken because he’s a child who wants to be loved.
The reason Dick was the perfect choice for Dark Crisis and to become the dawn of DCU is because his sole reason for being is to be the light.
That is why Bruce refused to destroy a planet when Superman asked him too. That is why Dick was the only person in the universe who could control the Darkness infecting him when even Deathstroke lost his mind to it. That is why the evil Justice League chose Dick of every one to kill-to make a point.
This is why he’s looked up to by major heroes such as Superman, Wonderwoman, the Titans, the children, the villains, and the civilians.
This is why Harvey Dent called Robin Dick “Batman’s secret weapon.”
Although anger was the baseline emotion, Dick doesn’t have anger issues because:
Robin wasn’t created for revenge. It was created with the intention of building a world so unrealistically good, that the level of the vision Richard Grayson was aiming for and set the standards for- is so terrifyingly inconceivable.
And that-is why he is a happy, feral, monster.

I don't think we give the Robins enough credit for fighting the joker at 10-13 years old. Because from a human point of view the guy is terrifying.

im still immensely disappointed that p5 wasnt set in the real world
#like#yeah persona games have supernatural bullshit going on and going to different dimensions and shit#but the casino scene when joker gets detained is so good if you just view it with no context#as in you dont know its in the metaverse#like the concept of being thieves and making hiests and shit#like it all becomed kinda uhh irrelevant? bc of the metaverse?#not irrelevant but like pointless#like i ubderstand that they have to wear disguises and use codenames and make a hiest route so they dont get spotted#but its like. what is the point you know?#those facts are only meaningful with the knowledge that if they dont do that then the people theyre stealing from will know its them in the#real world. and the consequences of that is never really shown soot feels meaningless#the supposed consequence is just that. supposed. theres no high stakes#the only high stakes are stealing the treasure before something in the real world completey unrelated to the metaverse fucks everyone over#like oh we have to do this before this date or we'll br expelled. or we'll get the cops called on us. or haru will be married off#like this shits so irrelavant to the actual metaverse its boring#like at that point is the metaverse even necessary? like you know????#like i rememver watching the beginning casino scene and then the interrogation and everything. like i was like oh shit!#and then ince you get to the casino scene its kinda meh bc you KNOW youre not in the real world. its less. fantastical? its less badass? bc#bc yeah theyre not doing this in the real world its just metaverse bullshit. like ive suspended my disbelief so much that it just becomes bo#boring. i WISH they did real life heists honestly it would raised the stakes to be level with their very dramatic team name#idk if im saying this right but i dislike it immensely#dont ask why im thinking about p5 rn it came out of nowhere#michi tag

i'm reading a new interview tim downie gave about gale and it offers some of tim's own headcanons about gale, as well as tim's thoughts and insights on gale's character:
Nerds & Beyond: I like that you mentioned that the game is full of rounded characters because they are, they all have different aspects that make them feel real. I adore that Gale specifically is so serious and studious, but at the same time he has this really playful side — he often jokes about how he was a mischievous youth, he encourages other people like Arabella to do so, he understands when The Dark Urge first mentions their violent thoughts. There is a lot of nuance and depth there. But the quality that I love with Gale most is that obviously he is very ill when we first meet him – not that we know immediately – and he’s dealing with a lot of chronic pain. I find him incredibly selfless because he takes that day-to-day head on to help the party, which is an aspect I feel continues to show throughout the three acts. What’s your favorite quality of Gale’s, or what did you take away from him? Tim Downie: It’s so interesting hearing you say that, because I had so many different feedbacks about what people take from the character and sometimes things really surprise you. It’s interesting hearing that such and such has taken that particular aspect, because there are broad things like “He’s funny,” and that’s quite nice, that’s a nice trait, though not one you necessarily get to see that much. It’s so interesting hearing other people’s views about what they take from Gale.  The idea of dealing with chronic pain I found really interesting and an interesting subplot to play, and that was the great thing about doing something like this is that it is so unbelievably nuanced. You have so many layers that just keep going and going and going, as much as we all contain multitudes within ourselves. We all deal with these things, but only certain things pop up to the surface at any given point.  What did I take from Gale, though? I liked his studiousness. I would imagine that he was probably bullied as a kid for it, and he was probably a bit of a joker because he was bullied, and he uses that as a defense. But an even bigger defense for him is “I now know stuff that I didn’t before,” and that’s a power. It’s very similar to when you are being bullied and you’re the funny one – that’s your power, that’s your thing. “I may not be able to hurt you in a traditional sense, but I can say things that will make you feel pain,” which is a very different thing because you physically can’t go after them.  That’s the wonderful thing about acting and this character as well is being able to explore all these things that you might not have, that you might have gone, “I’m not gonna look at that again, I don’t want to deal with that,” and then it brings it up again and it’s like, “Oh, this is actually quite cathartic,” to re-explore these these moments of sorrow and loss and how you deal with grief and things like that and heartbreak and how you get over that.  It’s not all just tears, you do try and make a joke of it.
i really like that they are addressing the topic of gale's chronic pain. it's something that doesn't get addressed often, not even in the game itself.
i also found his answer as to why people might connect to gale very nice:
Nerds & Beyond: Gale is the most popular origin character to play as. What is it about him that you think allows so many different players to connect with him to the depths the fandom has? Tim Downie: I really don’t know. I think you’d have to ask the players that, ‘cause I don’t know, to be quite honest with you. He’s a wizard, and who wouldn’t want to be a wizard at the end of the day? I always say the difference between wizards and sorcerers is that sorcerers just pretend – they just assume they know what they’re doing, but a wizard has really learned this trade. And so there’s that kind of weight of knowledge and learning, which I would love to play as and be for a length of time.  I think it’s also the frailties. I like characters, and a lot of people do I’m assuming, that have flaws, otherwise you’ve made them completely unapproachable. To be completely superhuman or completely extraordinary at something then removes the humanity from it because it becomes like, “Well, that’s never gonna happen.” But when there’s a flaw, when there’s, “Oh, I’ve got that wrong, too,” or like, “My knees hurt” as you say, or “I’ve got a bit of a headache. I really don’t want to do this,” “You’re really annoying me, this is very annoying, could you please hurry up?” or “Stop licking the damn thing,” it’s always those moments that are fun because it shows what we’re all thinking at that point, it removes it from almost archetype and stereotype and it becomes human in a way.
gale is approachable and likeable, has flaws, but is genuinely nice. i think that very much sums up his character.
this bit here made me laugh:
Nerds & Beyond: When you’re talking about those different layers in the humanity building, I think one of the most important aspects in this game is the more “background” or passive dialogue, so dialogue that is prompted in the world and not in the cut scenes.  For instance — the first time I made Gale sneak he immediately complained about his knees, and it was such a real moment where he was just like, “Oh, don’t make me do this. This is not what I’m here for, I’ve got bad knees and I’m not made for this.” Did you have any of those background lines or moments that stick out as being particularly fun to craft?  Tim Downie: I remember the first time I ever had to do waiting, I found it infinitely interesting in so many ways. The idea that I did actually just have to wait and just actually, “Hmm…” Those little things I find really funny because they’re probably the closest to me that the character ever gets. His waiting mannerisms are kind of very English – slightly annoyed and I’m not going to show it to you though because we’re all being very nice, but I’ll do it with a huff and a slightly sarcastic, “Well, that’s great. Another 20 minutes. That’s great.” Those kinds of sentiments I found wonderful and incredibly fun, and funny, to do.
if you want to read the whole interview for yourself, you can do so here!

I want a Joker Junior Tim Drake fic, where he sometimes shifts between the two, like multiple personalities.
And I want Dick to be the one Tim goes to when the whole situation is freaking him out.
And I want Dick to always seem to know when JJ is fronting and treat him like just another one of his brothers, knowing exactly how to communicate with him in a way that JJ will understand.
Until JJ starts to view Dick as family too, to the point that he will protect him at all costs.
I want Dick treating JJ and Tim with the love they deserve.

shuake works because it feels like akechi's the only one who listens to akira and prompts the otherwise quiet leader to talk.
in a game about defiant teens making their voice heard, goro akechi listens to akira's voice from the get-go. out of detective-sleuthing/work duties, sure, but over time it's clear that akechi genuinely finds akira interesting.
in fact, akechi's confidant route regardless of which game is being played starts with him deeming akira the antithesis to his thesis, a "worthwhile debate partner". akechi values joker's opinions.
its always nice to see people point out that in that one 3rd sem phone call with akechi, its the most involved akira's been in a conversation in-game. i myself remember inserting a lot more input during that story-sequence which usually i can put on autoplay otherwise. akechi, in a whole different reality, still seeks out joker's opinions on it. it's like he trusts no one but him.
and imo this gives a lot of character to akira. he talks the most with akechi. the quietest people have the most on their minds, and it shows with akira. but akira never gets a say in anything, and who would listen? he's less than a nobody in reality since society dictated that. so he pointedly made himself silent, hiding his thoughts beneath an impenetrable mask. during important story moments, akira favors doing more than saying. his teammates and confidants are all directly inspired by his actions over the course of the game.
but with akechi, it's different. actions seem to take a backseat as they continue with their verbal back-and-forth. in rank 7 of royal, they play pool while talking, but it's clear to the outsider that the focus is in the layered conversation they're having. they primarily talk everytime akechi's in the coffee shop, because they dont usually see eachother in their busy schedules. it's not just "hi, hello, how are you?" with them but "i find you and everything you stand for interesting. let's talk more."
there's something to be said about how two people with vastly different and opposing views seek eachother out to further discuss things instead of antagonizing eachother. its why maruki said "despite being enemies, your relationship was never based on hatred or ill will".
their relationship was never a one-sided thing. akechi helps joker as much as joker helps him... arguably more. he eggs joker on, shows him that he can do better. otherwise, the leader would remain stagnant and unchallenged. there is no progress where there is no thesis and-- you can finish the rest.
