I want to read more fics where people have arranged age-gap marriages that are like. Pleasant.
Not mega horny. Not unhappy. Not strained. Just… okay. We Can Work With This. Yes this is a younger person who married a rich older individual without falling in love, but both parties went into it knowingly and willingly, who didn't really want a charmed romance or an escape from anything, they just. Saw an option for whatever they actually needed (a beard, an heir, a cushy lifestyle, protection from unwanted suitors, whatever), and decided to sign a contract and make it work..
There's a "married a friend of my dad's for the money" thing in a show I'm watching and I just. That one ended poorly, but it got me thinking about how I want more variety in arranged marriage plots.
Where is that "Yeah, he needed an heir, I didn't mind a pregnancy, and I wanted a cushy lifestyle that he could provide if I just had the kid and did my part in managing the estate" landed gentry energy when you need it.
I just want "we had a convenient contract signed and cohabitated without any real issue afterwards"

So, I been curious and I wonder if you have answers; how strong is Idia? I know physically that a new born kitten could woop him, while technology wise not even the master control could stand against him, but what about magic wise? And where does he stand in comparison to the other dorm heads? I know in ch 6 he was strong as heck but isn't that mainly because he was getting energy from the blots?
(Thank you for your time)
Tumblr media
Mmm, well... I don't think "magic strength" alone accounts for how good of a mage someone is. You could have all the power in the world but could be a terrible mage just because of how you use it (like if you lack control), or perhaps because you can only cast a few powerful spells before you blow through your energy reserves. All spells are also not made equal; there are defensive spells, offensive spells, healing spells, and more! Because of all that, it's hard for us to really quantify how "strong" a mage is, because really each mage seems to specialize in their own skillsets. It's not "which class is the strongest?" but rather "which class fits your preferred play style?" For this reason, I'm not going to be formally ranking the dorm leaders but instead will point out their strengths and weaknesses.
As Idia points out in book 6:
Riddle has an artificially large magic pool because he started his magical training from a young age. He is capable of casting strong spells and favors offense, but also has low physical stamina and tires easily (from blot accumulation) because he tries to brute-force. His mental state is also said to be heavily impacted by external factors.
Leona can cast spells quickly and effortlessly; his magic pool is described to be "huge", but we don't know how this really relates to the other problem children in terms of scale. He also seems to boast precision, as he can "tailor" his defensive spells' strength to counter his opponents. Because of how efficient Leona is, he barely accumulates unnecessary blot. Stress does not have much effect on how fast he produces blot, but intense emotions do cause a significant spike in him. Additionally, Leona is skilled in flight due to playing magift/spelldrive.
Azul is a relatively slow spellcaster but makes up for that with precision and access to a variety of spells. He watches the flow of a battle, keeps cool, and then plays support/heals as needed. Idia also notes that while Azul can cast many different spells, Azul also does not have a large enough magic pool to support them and so has to be more careful about what and when he uses his magic.
Vil is very stable across the board and is quite resilient to blot. Stress does not have a huge effect on him, but the blot does seem to stick around for longer because of his larger magic pool. Something else to keep in mind is that Vil excels in making potions, which is another form of magic.
Please keep in mind that these refer to mainly COMBAT scenarios, which are not the only cases in which you would use magic... so this isn't an entirely accurate assessment; it's just the most convenient assessment since the game blatantly lays the comparisons out for us. Let's now piece together what we know of the remaining dorm leaders based on lore we have:
Kalim does not strike me as someone who has a particularly large pool of magic (it's never commented on, nor shown). I'd place him at around normal until otherwise refuted by the canon. We know he's not particularly proficient in his studies, as he just barely scrapes by in classes with intense help from Jamil. This may not always translate to poor performance in practical settings, but we also have no standout moments of Kalim pulling off impressive spells or being a notable mage. He also doesn't seem to be aware of the practical or strategic uses for his own UM unless others in his immediate vicinity are in need of large amounts of water. It's possible that he's incredibly powerful, but lacks awareness of how to best utilize his magic.
Malleus is stated in the lore to be one of the top 5 mages in the WORLD. He uses magic on a daily basis and barely blinks an eye to when he does amazing feats like STOPPING TIME ITSELF. Book 7 also reveals to us a hypothesis that fae might have access to an essentially limitless reserve of magic because they pull that magic from nature itself. I'd say that this definitively places Malleus at the top of the "magical power" hierarchy--there was never any doubt about that, the problem just comes in trying to sort everyone else under him.
And then there's Idia, whom we don't really see performing magic much by himself. No, he prefers to tinker with his computer parts which, technically, can count as magic since technomancy is the combination of technology and magic. (Does Ortho count as something resulting from Idia's "magic power"??) It's hard to say.
If I had to guess, I would think Idia is another stable user like Vil but is also highly volatile like Riddle (due to his guilt and grief being the main source of trauma). Idia HAS to cast spells or input magic into his devices because of his curse; if he does not accumulate blot, there's nothing for his curse to dine on... so it'll dine on his own magic instead, which can be detrimental to his health and wellbeing. (This is why the Shrouds are perfect candidates to work at STYX and research blot. All the blot present in STYX HQ fuels them and feeds their curses.) This implies Idia has to have output, and consistent output at that. More blot present in the immediate area may be able to power him up more and allow him to cast more spells/cast spells more frequently, but that's again highly dependent on his environment. Idia has the "flexibility" that the other dorm leaders lack, which can be a curse or a blessing given the scenario. Make of that what you will!

Is it invalid to worry about your environmental impact as a person who lives on this planet (especially when loads of other people seem to live in ignorant bliss or openly just do not care)?
Not at all.
But as disabled people* I really think we should allow ourselves those accommodations we need/that would make our lives easier.
Bottled body wash lathers easier and saves you that tiny bit of energy while you're washing up? Can't seem take care of your bar of soap so it runs out fast because it's always wet and actively makes your bathroom harder to clean? You deserve to preserve your energy and keep yourself clean. Use it.
Bottled water means your executive dysfunction won't get in the way of you getting hydrated? Means you can keep water by your bed so you don't have to endure the physical pain of walking to the kitchen? Means your OCD symptoms won't prevent you from drinking water for hours-days at a time? You deserve to drink water without stressing. Drink it.
Paper plates and plastic utensils mean you get to eat without having to worry about dishes + prevents you from having an overwhelming sink full of every dish you own covered in rotting, smelly food that may even attract bugs and cause them to breed in your sink? You deserve to eat freely and live in a clean and safe environment. Use them.
Can't wash clothes on the regular let alone cleaning rags due to energy/executive function, ability, finances, ect.? Use paper towels. For whatever reason you need them. Spills so you don't take up your only clean towel and risk it sitting + developing mold and mildew. Wiping off your counters. Dusting. Drying your dishes. Drying your hands. I literally do not give a fuck. Use them!
Use frozen vegetables that come in plastic bags and frozen meals that come in single use plastic and floss sticks and plastic cups and precut fruit and veg and whatever little necessary 'convenience' you can think of that makes your life easier. Just because you Technically, Physically can pull it off doesn't mean you should and it's important we think about the consequences of our actions even if we're the only ones really impacted by them. You're important. And for a lot of us, these things are what makes the difference between Getting Things Done At All and sitting in shame because we can't bring ourselves to make our own everything and do everything the long or right way. We put too much pressure on ourselves to make up for what abled people aren't doing themselves. If Anybody deserves a break it's us.
Don't misconstrue this as discouragement from doing what you can or whatever, but I need all of us to be a lot more realistic about what impacts our lives and which trade offs are worth it for our own sake.
It's unfortunate that we don't have options for more sustainable resources when it comes to taking care of ourselves, but it shouldn't fall on us to choose between a significantly more difficult life or feeling guilt free. Advocate where you can for better treatment of the planet, and until that can happen-- non-disabled people can and should pick up the slack for us. They literally have that option and the impact they face is an infinitesimal inconvenience compared to the real health/quality of life consequences that build up in such a severe way over time. We deserve that little bit of leeway.
*disabled includes both physical and mental ailments on this post btw

if you wanted me, you really should’ve showed 。・:*:☆
eren jaeger x reader | wc: 1.2k+ | L’s FOLKLORE event
Tumblr media
The snow is barely accumulating on the ground, which correlates with the evening’s weather report you remember dozing off to.
Now, hours after falling asleep, you stand outside of the 24 hour convenience store down the street from your home. You’d taken the walk after waking in the middle of the night with a strong craving for sour candy—letting your stomach get the best of you, the decision to make the trip was easy.
You’d been searching the candy aisle for any sort of relief packaged into a neon colored gummy, but all you found was your ex-boyfriend. Energy drink and a pack of cigs in one hand, paired with a lousy choice of chocolate bar in the other.
How fitting.
It’s a small world. Really, you think it should be bigger.
After an awkward run in at 3:24am and no candy purchase on your end, the two of you stand outside of the store’s front. The fluorescent signs from the decorated windows illuminate Eren’s profile when he finally clears his throat.
“We sure were something though, huh?” was his weak attempt at segueing into the casual concept of your failed relationship. There was no way around the conversation, but also no point in rehashing the past.
“We were,” you weakly agree, sincere and transparent, though Eren isn't too sure if you mean it in the same way he does.
He continues, searching for validation disguised as clarification.
“I’d like to think we were good for each other. For a little bit, anyway,” he trails off towards the end, grasping at straws to get you to agree with him.
Your blunt responses says so little and so much at the same time.
“A little bit,” you parrot back with a shrug.
His increasing grip on the candy bar in his pocket builds, causing him to snap the chocolate in half through its packaging.
Eren’s not exactly sure why, but he’s angry with how little you seem to be affected by all of this. He’s being vulnerable, airing out all of your relationship’s dirty laundry, and yet you still seem so blase about the whole thing. He finds his anger fueling his bravery as he speaks before thinking.
“Do you miss it?” is what crawls from his throat, but you know him well enough to know what he’s truly asking.
Do you miss me?
Eren doesn’t know what you’ll answer will be, whether it will be a yes or a no or something in between—but he’s sure that it’s going to burn him. Leave his heart sinking and skin on fire as you deliver it devoid of any emotion.
When you exhale, he can see your breath. A small, sick part of him wants to bottle it in a jar and keep it as a souvenir. As a reminder that you were once in an arm’s reach of him.
“I think I miss what I thought it was.”
He was right, your response does sting. It hurts so badly that he finds himself lighting a cigarette to busy his hands from permanently engraining nail shaped crescents into his palms.
Unable to roll over and die, he finds himself pressing, “What does that mean?”
He watches you pause with a sigh, taking a moment to find the right words, “The ‘us’ I created in my head. It wasn't actually like that, I just wanted it to be.”
Fuck.
Every one of your responses hurts more than the last, and yet he can’t stop himself from hitting you with question after question. He feels like a fraud, like an addict to your harsh delivery and sullen expression.
He lets a cloud of smoke leave his pursed lips, “Maybe I wanted it to be that way, too.”
“Oh, fuck off,” you shut down his plea, “you didn’t even want me.”
“Of course I did,” he immediately heaves. “I still do,” he’s quick to correct himself.
Your expression doesn't change with his sudden outburst. It remains neutral, almost detached from the conversation as you watch the snow begin to stick and pile up in the store’s parking lot.
“Well, you didn’t show it,” you say and it feels like a conclusion, like an ending, “I didn’t feel it.”
Eren expects you to leave him in that very moment, in every sense of the word. Physically, emotionally, he expects you to vanish.
Instead, your feet remain where they are planted, and you remove the cigarette from his shaky fingers.
He waits for you to stomp it out into the slushy snow below, between the white filled cracks and cervices of the cement, but you don’t. You surprise him by bringing it up to your mouth, taking your own shaky inhale of the nicotine into your lungs. He watches your lips wrap around the bud where his were a few seconds ago, he hates that he sees the act as an indirect kiss.
“Wanna know the worst part?” you exhale with the smoke. It looks exactly like your puff of air did before, but now he knows it to be filled with a heavy poison.
“Not really.”
“I still wanted it to be you,” comes from your lips, unashamed and matter-of-fact.
Eren freezes. “What?”
You hold the cigarette out at an arm’s reach, waiting for him to pluck it from your hand.
He has an itching feeling that this will be the last chance he has to touch you, so he does. Selfishly, Eren lets his hand hover over yours for a moment, before brushing his fingers against yours and slowly removing the stick from their warmth. A fleeting touch, a reminder that you’re still alive and human, still touching and able to be touched.
“Even with the shit-show of it all, I still wanted it to be you,” you retort with a bit of a bite. You hope he understands what you mean, even if only a little bit, “I was still willing to pretend it could be.”
He aches to scream, to grab you and promise into your skin that it could be, it still can be. Instead, he remains where he stands, feet now being covered in tiny flurries of snow that turn to water on his boots.
Eren coughs before uttering the inevitable, “We could try again, y’know.”
He expects the snow to stop falling around you at his confession, expects the world to stop spinning and the stars to drop from the sky like fallen marbles. He expects you to scoff, to spit on him for assuming something so naive. He expects resistance, anger, anything.
Yet somehow, the silence that he’s met with is actually worse than all of his potential fears.
“Now that we’re actually communicating this shit, we can be adults about it,” he tries to reason with your silence, “we’ve grown since then.”
He turns to you, looking at you for the first time since you’ve been outside. You looked different underneath the warm and flickering convenience store lighting—softer, weary, a bit small. Now, beneath the midnight sky and littered in melting snowflakes, you look sharp, hurt.
“Better late than never, right?” he desperately, pathetically hopes.
You allow yourself to look at him, vision blurred with flakes of damp snow instead of tears for once, and shake your head.
“I really did wish it would’ve been you,” the truth aches your bones like a soreness you can’t rest, “but it’s just not.”

Survivor of Ramshackle -part 4
This chapter doesn't feature the twst boys, but the next chapter probably will.
Warnings: violence, death, corruption by dark magic, bodies, massacre, body horror, insanity.
--
Yuu and Doom had buried an entire field of graves. Yuu had even got sticks and poles from the rubble along with some twine to make crosses for each of the graves. There were so many they stretched to the horizon. A lot could be completed when you had nothing else to do. Yuu didn't even feel hungry anymore. And when they tried to relieve themselves, nothing came out ever. It was as if the blot had dissolved anything inside them. That made things easier because Yuu was not that particularly fond of going in the bushes.
Yuu was burying the last batch of bodies that they had managed to find when they saw something in the distance. It was some sort of flying vehicle. And it was approaching where they were.
Doom looked up at the thing and roared angrily. He looked just about ready to tear it apart. Before Yuu knew it, Doom was already going off to intercept whatever that thing was. Yuu also had the desire to get rid of any people nearby due to their overblotted state. So they went along. However, they kept in mind to stay completely out of sight. The rubble around them served as good hiding spots for them to conceal themselves in the shadows.
The thing landed in a clearing nearby. It had two wings and four engines attached to them. It opened up to form a staircase to the ground. This thing was a spaceship of some kind. Yuu was amazed by this. 'Aliens are real??!!' They thought. It would explain the insignia from before on the flag. They could see the exact same symbol on the side of the ship. These were not their friends. Not like Overblotted Yuu would let anyone near them, but these guys were on the top of their list.
Yuu's glowing eyes leered at the persons leading down the staircase. They slunk back into the shadows to observe closer. The alien leaving the ship had two pairs of arms. One pair was holding a large gun nearly the same size as Yuu, the other pair holding something like a tablet. They were typing on it whilst observing the environment. This alien was three times their size. Swiftly after the big one left the ship, his subordinates followed him. They all had a hunch to them, but they still only stood slightly lower than the average human. Overall, they were much smaller than the big one, which was probably their leader. They were talking in a foreign language that was hard to pinpoint. But Yuu could tell that they weren't here for good intentions. This was a recon team. They tried listening to what they were saying.
["Spread out and search the area! We need to find the source of that disturbance."] The large alien ordered.
["These graves are fresh. Whatever went out of its way to do this couldn't be too far away."] One of the subordinates added.
["Whatever did this is dead meat when I find them!"]
Yuu noticed that some of those smaller aliens had only one pair of arms, wielded one-handed guns, and held knives in the other hand.
Close combat soldiers.
Yuu took mental note to take extra care whilst around those ones.
*Fwoosh*
["Uuaaggh!!!"]
Yuu popped out of their skin when they saw Doom come down on these aliens hard. How did something that huge manage to sneak up on them? That is some stone-cold plot convenience if they've ever seen it. All the aliens stood to attention. Guns pointed to the sky at the massive draconic figure cackling down at them with hunger evident in its invisible eyes.
["What the flack is that thing??!!!"]
["How did it sneak up on us?!"]
Opening fire did nothing against this creature, for instead of bullets, there were swift little pulses of energy coming from the barrels. Which could do some damage against Yuu but couldn't do much harm against a creature like a phantom. Something that was made almost entirely of ink.
The soldiers seemed to point it out because before Yuu knew it, they were bringing grappling hooks into the mix. Yuu sighed to themselves when the aliens got together and were managing to get the upper hand on Doom. For something made of ink, cables worked surprisingly well against him. It was time to step in. But they didn't know what to do. They've never been to battle before. Only during overblots. They can not afford to lose Doom. He was the only thing they had left. Being stranded here without their power would be a death sentence. Yuu was on the ropes of having a panic attack during their overblot. Everything was so loud and confusing. Looking down at their hands helped them grind back to reality during times like this. To their horror, however, they spotted streams of black ink flowing to their fingertips and slowly but surely forming long, sharp appendages on the tips of each one. The long nails got bigger and bigger until they moved to cover their whole hands in a sticky, void-like gauntlet of sickle shaped claws. The ink went and filled their eyes and ears. Blocking out all sound, sight, and thought of what they were about to do next.
-
"Let's take it in to study it. This could be valuable for future invasions." The Captain told his men. Eyeing the giant black liquid monster. The creature had a head made of glass. Three heads, actually. All of them held a bloodlust in them that was fitting for a profession such as their own. A creature like this shouldn't even be alive, yet here they stood. Did the humans once own this thing? Did they make it? That could be a possibility with the way there were seams and stitches running all throughout its gray, scaly hide.
"But sir! How are we going to transport it back to base?"
"Just tie it up until it's able to fit in the cargo hold. Chop off one of its heads if you have to- "
Clang!
Looking back at his subordinate, the captain found that the only thing left of him was a piece of armor rattling on the ground.
"Sargent? Hey!... Sargent!?"
The captain heard a screech behind him.
Turning around, he saw that his men were being picked off one by one by a shadow that was moving too fast to identify. Swiftly silencing their cries of agony. Carving through flesh, metal, and bone. The captain faced many beasts during his time in the emperor's fleet. But this one felt like it had fought and bested creatures like itself before. It had an otherworldly essence flowing from it. A darkness that could only compare to his own ambitions.
Another scream on the left. Four men down. A scream to the right. A man cleaved neatly in half all the way down the middle. A scream from up above. The monster had bitten someone in half with its jaws. The multicolored blood dripping from the teeth of broken glass. The captain fought with everything he had left in him. He would not die today. One shot at the shadow. Two shots at the shadow. Five shots at the shadow were not enough to take it down. He might have thrown his knife at it, but he's not sure. Survival is the only thing on his mind right now.
Only when all of his men were deceased and he was all out of ammunition did he flee. His boots pounded on the earth as his heart rates picked up and ulcers formed in his stomach. He could hear every twig snap in the wind and the blowing leaves. They didn't stray too far from their landing zone. So why was the ship so far away? That's when it dawned on him. The crushing realization that he was running away from his ship. The only escape out of this place of death was cut off from him. Tripping and falling whilst running led him to fall down a bank into a clearing in the forest that had survived the invasion. Standing up, he reached for his knife only to find nothing. His gun long since abandoned at the previous battlefield. A distorted laugh emanated behind him. Mocking him of his helplessness.
Now facing the fool. He spotted someone in the shadows. A bipedal figure with large claws, streaming tendrils, and a flaming eye. It stepped into the light slowly, as if silently beckoning him to take a good look. Its eyes never leave him for a second. The light emanating through the dark, ash choked skies illuminated the figure to reveal something he thought they had managed to completely destroy not too long ago.
'A human?'
Well, it was once. This thing was certainly not one anymore. The last time he checked; humans did not have sharp claws, ink stained skin, vanta black eyes with glowing gold pupils in them, and wear seemingly sentient clothing. The eyes freaked him out the most. It was as thought darkness itself had manifested within its sockets, then placed two golden orbs floating within the pools of black. He could feel the anger. The loss. The hopelessness emanating from it. The next moment. It smiled. Those were very much human teeth aside from the two elongated canines on the top front row. The same tar-like substance coating them. This was a smile of crazed malice. The straps all over the clothing made jingling noises with every movement made. The sleeves rippled in the wind. Those were the clothes worn by someone who had gone insane. There was no reasoning with this entity. The product of a survivor blinded by grief at the loss of everything they had ever known. And he had helped make it.
The last thing the captain saw before it was all over was that mad smile inches away from his face and sharp claws descending onto him.

What was that?
Three distorted voices were conversing amongst one another whilst Yuu was still floating in the dark void. It was the only thing they could focus on. All other senses were blocked out. The emptiness feeling warm and calming. Yuu had finally got a chance for the world to just... stop. Part of them desired for this to last forever. But that was shut down after the ghostly chatter intervened.

Yuu feels a pressure on their torso. It bumps them gently until the darkness around them recesses. They find themselves standing in a clearing. One far away from before. Stepping forward, they felt and heard something sticky. Confused, they looked down. Covering most of their clothes was a sticky, multicolored substance. This stuff was drying at some parts and was beginning to flake off. It smelled like copper. Was this blood? But blood doesn't look like this. It must be something else. They focused on their magic and thought of a spell from Trien's practical magic class, one used to clean stains off clothes. They focused and cast the spell. The sticky substance dissolved off of their clothes like seafoam in an ocean. Leaving the clothes as clean as they were before.
They couldn't remember why they were in a clearing, though. Yuu gazed around the plot of land and saw the same spaceship from before. Now abandoned. 'The Aliens must be somewhere around here', they thought. 'I should steal their ship before they come back'. So up to the ship, they approached. Climbing the ramp into the cockpit. Looking at the myriad of buttons and levers on the dashboard discouraged them from piloting it. 'Good GOD! How would one even fly this thing?' They didn't even dwell on it. They knew right off the bat that they would never be able to fly a ship like this. So they consulted their knowledge of magic from watching the others at Night Raven.
Yuu thought back to one time they saw Azul mold a controller to fit Grim's paws for a video game match at the board game club. Reciting the words he said in their head, Yuu cast the spell on the ship. It began to morph and change to a more fitting style to them. The controls were changed to be piloted by someone with two arms instead of four. The walls of the ship were coated with the ink flowing off Yuu. The exterior even began to change.
It took 30 seconds for the spell to finish.
Yuu was admiring their handywork when they heard a noise by the entrance of the ship. Walking down the platform. The phantom was making itself smaller. They weren't sure how, but the creature was using magic to shrink it's body into a small enough figure to fit it the ships hull.
Yuu just stood there for a moment before the three-headed dragon was shoving them out of the way to get on board. They just shrugged it off after some time and went inside.

The anon from last time, glad to see that you’re still hanging around and (hopefully!) doing well.
I saw that you’re taking requests at the moment. If you don’t mind, could you write male reader and Makoto/Minato going on dates? Like what would be an ideal date, maybe something goes wrong, etc. Nothing specific so feel free to write whatever with this one.
Btw, I’m really hyped for P3R, we get to see more of our door in action
Thank you! I was going through a rough patch(or several), so sorry about the delay, but thank you gor your patience! And yeah I'm super hyped for p3r! Everything they've shown looks so good and our dearest door looks so squishable lmao. Anyway I hope it's okay I did bullet-point headcanon. I did intend to add a scenario at the end, too, but tumblrs app had an error where the edit button disappeared and this ended up queued before it was finished. If you want a straight up scenario of this you can send another ask and I'll mark it priority! (Even this ends kinda abruptly bc of this I apologize)
Also: I've used Minato I hope that's alright since you used both names in your ask. If you'd have preferred the other let me know, it would be a simple fix.
Minato/Makoto and dates (Male reader)
Minato's primary drive in a date is ensuring you're happy. In spite of his "I don't care" shtick, Minato cares a lot, and thus date's are no exception.
Presuming you've both decided to be open about dating, he would allow a bit more open affection (hand holding and the like) even though PDA isn't usually his go to.
Now as for the dates themselves:
Obviously lunch/dinner dates are always a good option, so it's no surprise he chooses those quote often.
Minato is more likely to stick to things he knows you'll like. So while the restaurant itself might change, don't expect him to upgrade in price levels, even if it is a serious relationship, unless you bring it up first.
Or if you're choosing the location, I guess. Because, of course, Minato doesn't make all the date choices. He's very open to letting you choose where you go unless he specifically invited you out with special plans in mind.
Though he will give his thoughts on your choices, Minato is typically just happy to be out with you, in general.
(Minato might openly admit he feel lucky to have a boyfriend he can go on dates with, if asked.)
And, really, since you're both boys he doesn't need to work around the expectations of the boyfriend making the choices. (Not only are you both the boyfriend but he never cared about that kind of outdated stuff, anyway.)
Other than meals, he's always up for a classic movie date, or karaoke. The former is a nice low-energy date and the latter one he's more up to on his higher energy days.
Though the privacy of either is nice. Even if you're not openly together it's easy to get away with more, though still subtle, affection.
On rare occasion Minato might take you out somewhere more open. The shrine is convenient to just hang out, but it's not exactly date material. If you leave port island, though, a park date is an option.
It's something he'd put a surprising amount of thought into. If you even mentioned the idea offhand, he'd eventually bring it up.
Here's the thing about if something goes wrong, though: Minato takes it in stride.
He may pout frown about plans being ruined, but Minato is quick on his feet. It's easy enough for him to redirect.
No space available at the restaurant? That's okay, there are others. And if not you can get ingredients and he can cook. Minato knows just enough about cooking that it might even be better than the original plans.
Movie sold out? Get later tickets, he'll take you to do something else in the meantime. As long as you're together, he's happy with that.
Weather take a dramatic turn for the worse? Find a warm restaurant or go home together. Get a nice warm meal together instead.
The longer you're together the more likely Minato is to suggest stay-home dates. Offering to make nicer dinners and set the table properly.
Part of it is a general convince, but a lost of it is the privacy.
Even of you are open about you're relationship, Minato is well aware how people look are two boys being together. That along with the fact he's generally not a PDA person means he holds himself back quite a bit in public.
He's far more affectate when alone. Trying to spend the whole time touching you in some way. (Hand on yours, shoulders or thighs touching, head on your shoulder or vice versa.)

Any genshin headcannons or thoughts you'd like to share? :)
SDFSDFAWSFSDFSD okay so I had to sit down and think about this for all of like 5 minutes before a lightbulb went off in my head and i was like Yes. ASFSDFSDSDF Okay so prepare for the ARCHON RAMBLE (aka me creating headcanons specifically to torture Zhongli)
Okay so like, the Archons are immortal, right? Okay but we also know they're not Invulnerable. Many MANY archons have died at this point. we Know Zhongli is the only remaining original, and that's all well and good. But its fun to think about why that's physically possible. So i came up with my own system??? Kinda??? Its not very refined cause its mostly me throwing sticky hands at a wall and seeing what sticks but i have fun with it SDFSDFASFSDFSDFSDFSDF Part one of the headcanon has to do with the idea of Energy. Okay. So like. Everybody and their dog headcanons that Vision users have a certain level of energy usage they can hit before its like... they're out of energy/tired/in pain so on and so forth. So and Archon has that same threshold, its just a lot further out. On top of that, an Archon WITH A GNOSIS probably lasts a lot longer. But there's a point, regardless, where and Archon will run out of energy and then be in trouble. When we headcanon this for vision users there's usually some kind of adverse effect. And I headcanon the same for Archons. Things like, getting shaky, exhausted, physically weak, those kinds of things. Like they have terrible low blood sugar or something SDFSDFASFSDFSDFSDFSDFS They also become incapable of using their powers, because essentially they're trying to pull from a well that is dry. So essentially an Archon runs on a battery, and they can dry that battery up if they push themselves hard enough. There's some fun stuff to play with here that i've completely made up for Whumps convenience AHAHAHAAHAHA like for example. the smaller the physical mass of an Archon, they less energy they take up to "power the body" Now to be clear, if they run out of energy they are still very much physically there (although it'd be fun to play with a concept where that wasn't true) Its just that they're very physically weak/can't shapeshift/can't "use their vision" essentially. But like a battery, say Venti needs a decent sized battery to run human Venti. If he turns into a wisp his battery need becomes much smaller. Now by default an Archon has more than enough energy to run themselves no matter what form they're in, Form to battery ratio only becomes an issue if they're struggling with an energy low/leakage. Like Venti Might turn into a wisp if he's running out of power, because that moves him from nearly passing out to be okay dokay again. This is fun for all sorts of reasons AHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA Another funky headcanon I have in correlation with this is energy sharing. So like, Every vision user has the same energy an archon has, just much much smaller. And much like an Archon, they contain an excess (more than they need on average) to "run the ship". Except in a vision user's case, they're battery isn't running anything unless they're using their vision. This means that in a pinch, a vision user can pass their Vision Battery Energy to an Archon to help them out. Now the fun part is, any Archon can take any kind of Vision to recharge their battery. Zhongli can take vision energy from Childe, Diluc, Tighnari, Jean, or Itto. It doesn't matter the element. As long as Zhongli has more Natural energy of Geo left, he will slowly convert their mismatch element to his own. However. An Archon is more or less compatible with different Elements. Like Zhongli is 100% compatible with Geo. Itto could give him a Geo energy boost and its probably like getting an instantaneous energy boost. However, he is nearly 100% Incompatible with Pryo. Now Zhongli can take Pyro for recharge.. he can do that. it is just very. very. Painful. But in a pinch, sometimes the pain is better than being vulnerable. The lack of compatibility also means that an Archon takes longer to convert the incorrect element to the element of their abilities. ON TOP OF THAT If an Archon runs out of their Natural element... but they still contain an element that's not theirs... Yeah Their Body Does Not Like That. And this is all like, Archon 101 to Zhongli, but its highly likely some of the younger Archons Do Not Know xD (Zhongli probably mostly knows through trial and error on top of that SDFSDFASFSDFSDFS Celestia did not give them a manual) Other Immortal/elementally sensitive beings (Yaksha and Adepti for Example) have the ability to tap into/sense this energy. Its something they have the innate ability to do, but it takes training to do it really? Or at least in a way that's not dangerous/wild. For example Madame Ping could easily check Zhongli's energy flow/Pulse just by putting her fingers where a normal human pulse will be. They can also use things like channeling crystals to more easily/thoroughly check another person's energy flow. A vision user could probably learn to do this too, and there might be a few who do know how. But due to the fact that Archon's aren't frequently chummy with vision users (at least up to this point) its not common knowledge and most Allogenes have no idea that this is a thing. A lot of Immortals/Supernatural beings probably don't realize Allogenes can help too because they often don't know themselves lol xD Crystals of certain kinds can also be used to convert elemental energy before transferring it, that way they skip the whole like, Conversion process. Only Adepti/supernatural being healers usually know how to do this or do it in the first place. There used to be more and it was much more common knowledge Pre-Archon war. But so many different beings perished during that time, so there are a lot fewer who know its even a thing in the first place. Zhongli's been kicked around enough that probably all the Adepti know how to do it xD Transfer of energy is pretty much always only done in an emergency. An Archon or other elemental/supernatural being will replenish their energy naturally through rest and managing their health and not blowing through their remaining reserves. Even if they reach flat zero, it will start to re-accumulate as long as they take care of themselves. ASFSDDSFASFSDFSDSDFSDFSD ANYWHO THAT WAS SUCH A LONG RAMBLE. I've had a lot of fun playing around/coming up with this system as i kick around Genshin in my head like a football SDFSDFSDF so it was nice to put it into words finally :D thank you for the ask anon!! <3

Early Synth HCs and Thoughts, pt. 3
Alas, the grasp of life's sorrows eases on me. Onto the rambling!
Tumblr media
(Poe AI from Altered Carbon, my beloved)
Liquid and Food intake:
For liquids, the explanation is simple: almost anything can be used as a coolant, as long as it has good heat transfer properties, adequate viscosity (isn't too thick) and electrical conductivity, is not dangerous to use and doesn't harm the machine through debris, corrosion, obstructions, etc.
Water would be the first choice for a coolant in a situation where Coolant™ is unavailable, but it wouldn't be recommended that a Gen. ≤II synth used alternative substances too often, because they will eventually damage it. If water isn't available, distilled alcoholic beverages would be the second best thing; beer, wine and soft drinks the third; and anything else after that. The synth would need to rinse off the stuff that's neither water not distilled as soon as possible, to avoid further issues.
As for food, I have no idea!
At first, I thought they could have something like a biomass energy generator as backup to the nuclear one, producing power through either decomposition or burning of organic matter. The issue with this is that it simply wouldn't fit in their frame, at least not in a realistic-ish way (mind you, we're dealing with suspension of disbelief here), and having a straight up furnace inside them wouldn't be practical at all, mainly because of the heat and proximity to the core —we all know what happens when it gets too warm in there.
Tumblr media
So, the way I see it is that they probably wouldn't be able to ingest solids (I am still debating if soup could be used as a decent coolant, and how liquid can food get after chewing, but I'm afraid those questions will remain unanswered for now), and because I wouldn't be able to sleep if I didn't consider this, the "piping" from the synth's mouth would have to lead to a coolant reservoir, and pass through some filters on the way there. It would have to be either a significantly thick tube, or a thinner, more flexible one that used the movement of the rubber lung I mentioned on the previous text to pump the liquid to said reservoir.
Ports, or The Age-Old Question of Where in the World do They Stick Those Holo Tapes:
There is no visual indication of any port anywhere on them, which leads me to believe that those are hidden by a sort of lid, and located somewhere accessible like the forearm or chest.
If on the forearm, the ports would be more prone to damage because of their distance from the CPU and the articulations of the arm, but they would be more convenient to use, as the synth wouldn't need to, say, unbutton his shirt to read a tape.
On that topic, I believe the holotapes would be inserted horizontally, like a tape recorder proper, instead of vertically, and a synth's voice box could definitely be used to play audio. I'm not sure if they would be able to record tapes as well, but it'd be both useful and super cool!
Tumblr media
Synths can be plugged into computers, as proven by DiMA's and Faraday's shenanigans, so why is it that Nick doesn't do this for hacking? Maybe this would've needed specific cables that he doesn't have, or maybe he just doesn't like to keep being reminded of the fact that he's a robot, and tries to do things as a human would whenever he can. Both of those seem very plausible to me, but I really can't imagine him going R2D2 on a terminal lol, so it's for the best.
Bonus concept that I might write about in the future: Nick having poems (The Raven!) and books stored on his database. The Raven would be especially meaningful to him, I think, because of the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore, nameless here forevermore :"))
And that's it, folks!
Tumblr media
Although this was the shorter one, it kinda was the most difficult of them. I had to do some serious thinking and reading about bloody coolant types, and even then I'm not 100% satisfied with what I got. It will have to do, for now!
Thank you kindly for reading. Do share your thoughts on this as well, if you want to!

Rambling thoughts on Obi-Wan Kenobi (the series)
Man maybe I'm getting cynical or haven't consumed enough Star Wars lately, but the first two episodes were pretttttttttttyyyyyy underwhelming for me
I'm very glad many of the people I follow seem to be enjoying it, but so far I'm not really; if you don't want to hear me ramble about that for several paragraphs best stop reading now ':D
First episode was still kinda alright, though it dragged a bit, but I can vibe with taking it slow to establish the setting and where the characters are at and just the general mood of the show
Now I know the joke of The Kenobi series is just going to be Obi-Wan sad in a cave for 10 episodes is a true and tried one, but damn I wish they had spiced it up a bit. At this point it feels too cliche to actually go for depressed 24/7; I would have preferred there to be some variety, something about him interacting a bit with the locals (the part with the Jawa was cute but since they didn't return it felt very one beat), some appreciation of the beauty of the desert, some small joys, and then you can make the sadness hit that much harder when you contrast e.g. with the night terrors. Like this they just felt like another point on the checklist
Also what I'm afraid is dooming the series for me a bit is that I cannot get myself to like Leia. She feels like every generic bratty but supposed to be adorable child character to me and it is grating. There is a very fine line to walk with being bossy and talking back and not having it be annoying, and she falls very firmly in the latter. It doesn't help that within the plot she is constantly an obstacle and not a helper. Many of her actions in episode 2 seems extremely stupid, and while I can get with the whole Being a child and Being in a very dangerous and unpredictive situation and Being afraid, it does not make her causing half the problems in the episode that much less grating. Especially since the biggest one is literally a shrek-level of misunderstanding between Obi-Wan and her
In general, but in episode 2 more egriougsly, the show suffers from so many conveniences. People just meet each other within vast cities, they learn crucial information by happenstance, and so on and so forth. Episode 2 is all over the place with where its characters are at and when, it's bad both from a writing and editing stand point
Whined enough about the technical side now, moving on
I really wish Leia and Obi-Wan's relationship could be landing for me. If they continue with this plotline it will be a cornerstone of the series, and it could be absolutely adorable and wholesome, but at the moment I don't know which bantha wrote Leia's dialogue, everything she says feels very forced and unnatural. Yes, she's mature for her age, but can we please tone down the hashtag feminism girlboss energy and have her talk like an actual 9 year old once in a while
If there's one thing I like about the series it's the world. The worldbuilding is nice, and the sets and costumes are beautiful. I loved the bladerunner esque aesthetic of the planet of the second episode, and just the diversity of all the people milling around. Makes me sad that Obi-Wan is apparently contractually obliged to stick to the sand tunics when there is absolutely no in universe reason for him to do so? The whole planet knows your face, for the love of god just put on a helmet and pretend youre a bounty hunter of which there are thousands here.
Sigh
My main hope for the series is that they explore the spiritual angle of the Force a bit more, but so far that's not happening, though i will be patient about it and just hope it comes up in the later episodes
So far this is not a show I would recommend to someone who is not a big Star Wars/Obi-Wan fan, it's fairly mediocre so far with episode 2 nearing being bad
I'm still holding out hope that it gets better, and that we'll see a nice character arc for Obi-Wan and it will make it worth to start on such a monotone note, but my expectations are tempered

Olympus Tournament: Round Three, Batch Three.
Tumblr media
"Hello everyone. My name is Bianca Gilios, I own and operate the White Wolf Bakery in Apricus. I'd absolutely love it if you found the time to stop in next time you visit our wonderful city. We're conveniently located in Evergreen Basin!"
"Now you may be thinking you've heard my last name before and you'd be correct. Both my younger sister, and my cousin are both competing but I assure you I am completely unbiased. With that out of the way I'd like to welcome you to the final fights of round three!"
"As you know by now, this entire round has been brought to you by Bundles of Lavender who have provided me with a lovely new dress."
A Bundles of Lavender commercial airs.
"I believe the matches are about to start. Shall we begin?"
Match One:
Hugo Knight & Cerise Gilios
Vs.
Roland Marigold & Kelly Maza
"I don't believe there will be anything fancy about this one folks. All four of these fighters are strength oriented and have a rather smash mouth style. Cerise squares off against Kelly for the second time this tournament while Hugo tries to hold his own against the imposing figure of Marigold."
"Cerise making some effort to use her small size as an advantage but Maza seems to have learned from their last encounter and isn't letting Cerise gain the upper hand on her so easily. Meanwhile Hugo doing his best to duck under the knockout blows of Marigold, attempting a stick and move strategy. Nothing seems to be making Marigold so much as flinch though."
"Hugo and Cerise manage to switch opponents and have some better luck. Cerise is just a little too quick for Marigold to hit and manages to trip him up, bringing the big man down for a moment. Hugo matches strength well enough against Maza, both crashing through a few walls as they grapple."
"The fights continue for a good several minutes, Cerise and Hugo switch opponents several times to try and keep them disoriented but Maza and Marigold are both members of the PWSB and are no strangers to adjusting tactics on the fly."
"Kelly showing her ironclad defense abilities as she absorbs everything thrown at her and slowly forces her opponents back to toward her partner. Marigold..looks to have been charging up his awakened ability which Cerise realizes too late. The heat around Marigold becomes unbearable, Hugo and Cerise both struggle to stand. Maza slams her hammer into the ground creating a shockwave that knocks them into the air as Marigold releases his stored up energy in a pulse which destroys nearly everything in the arena and launches both Hugo and Cerise out of bounds."
Winners: Roland Marigold & Kelly Maza
Match Two:
Ajax & Auburn
Vs.
Sterling Sobek & Onyx Cheshire
"Seems Auburn finally has a partner who can stand her. Well maybe not stand but is used to her at least. Ajax doesn't exactly seem to care what she says as she rushes over to fight with Sobek. Cheshire takes the momentary distraction to attempt to tie up Auburn with his wires but she barely manages to avoid it."
"Onyx using his wires again to navigate the arena and land a few surprise strikes on Auburn who despite her own quickness has a bit of trouble keep up with him. Auburn getting a little annoyed now and calls for Ajax."
"Ajax and Sobek battle back and forth, Ajax rolls his eyes and manages to reach back and toss a few throwing weapons at exactly the right point to snap one of Onyx's wires which sends him down right into a kick from Auburn. Onyx recovers and avoids elimination."
"Sobek has gained a slight advantage through his speed and abilities, cornering Ajax with a series of strong hits. Sobek manages to knock several weapons away from Ajax but Ajax seems just fine with his bare hands, catching a strike from Sobek and headbutting him."
"Onyx and Auburn exchange strikes but Onyx's inexperience as a fighter shows. Auburn is more well trained and to make matters worse has activated her ability. Onyx tries to fight through it but can't manage to find Auburn through the illusion and twisted landscape."
'Onyx goes to create distance again but the illusions throw him off and he ends up swinging right into Ajax who turns and grabs him, slamming him into the ground before throwing him into Sobek. Sobek tries to catch Onyx but it leaves him open, Ajax infuses himself with elemental energy and slams his fist into both opponents, creating a blast of lightning that incapacitates both."
Winners: Ajax & Auburn
Match Three:
Nilah Banders & Lapis Hamelin
Vs.
Jacqueline Edana & Skuld Kraka
"Here we are at the final fight of the round, time sure does fly by doesn't it? Don't worry, we have plenty more action coming up. In any case both teams have already squared off. Edana and Kraka don't exactly seem thrilled about working with each other but have come together for the sake of winning. Meanwhile Lapis and Nilah are showing some great teamwork."
"Kraka finds herself in a strange place as usually she likes to wait things out but facing off against a defensive master such as Lapis has forced her hand. She attacks repeatedly, attempting to find a weakness. Meanwhile Nilah and Edana seem evenly matched in everything but strength, Edana has that one in the bag but it doesn't help if she can't land a solid hit."
"Nilah is very good at keeping her distance, even managing to land a few strikes on Kraka who is now defending from her and Lapis. Lapis rushes forward suddenly and jumps off of Kraka's shield, launching himself through the air! It's like I'm watching a Hecaball match! Nilah suddenly breaks off from Edana and kneels down in time to launch Lapis again and keep him moving."
"Lapis flies through the air and slams into an unexpecting Edana, making her stumble. Lapis rolls forward and uppercuts her before slamming into her with whatever that makeshift weapon is which is enough to shockingly knock her out of bounds."
"Kraka seizes the moment though and rushes by Nilah, slamming into Lapis' back with her shield and causing him to take a step out of bounds, he's technically eliminated! A brilliant move! We're down to Kraka and Nilah. Both waste no time in fighting right near the edge of the arena."
"Kraka seems to have learned Nilah's attack patterns and is able to defend against her while hitting her with some strong strikes. Nilah though holds on and won't let it be over that easily. Nilah seems to understand that Kraka has figured her out."
"Nilah goes for an attack, causing Kraka to block but Nilah changes course and slides behind Kraka. Nilah starts attacking rapidly that it's hard for Kraka to defend. Nilah moves so fluidly it's like a dance, Kraka holds on but Nilah is able to knock Kraka's shield out of her hands."
"Nilah grabs her by the arm and spins her around, letting go and sending Kraka teetering on the edge. Nilah finishes her off with a beautiful spinning kick which sends Kraka out of the arena."
Winners: Nilah Banders & Lapis Hamelin

Hooked on Healthy foods
         Hooked on Healthy Foods
Tumblr media
Introduction
Welcome to my blog, where we'll be talking all about being "hooked on healthy foods". If you're someone who often finds it hard to stick to a healthy eating regimen or needs a little motivation to make better food choices, you've come to the right place. In this blog post, I'll share some valuable insights and tips on how you can develop a love for nutritious foods and make them a regular part of your life. Let's dive right in!
Eating healthy foods is not just a passing trend; it is a lifestyle choice that has numerous benefits for our overall well-being. When we consume nutritious foods, we provide our bodies with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support our immune system, boost our energy levels, and promote optimal organ function. Moreover, a balanced diet can help prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.
Before we get into the strategies to develop healthy food habits, it's crucial to acknowledge the challenges most of us face in this journey. In today's fast-paced world, convenience often takes precedence over nutrition. We are bombarded with tempting advertisements for processed and unhealthy foods that are readily available.
Tips for Developing a Love for Healthy Foods
One of the keys to developing a love for healthy foods is to start small and gradually expand your palate. Begin by incorporating a few nutritious foods into your diet that you genuinely enjoy. It could be a particular vegetable, fruit, or whole grain. As you become comfortable with these choices, expand your horizon by trying new recipes and experimenting with different flavors and textures. Over time, you may find yourself enjoying a wide variety of healthy foods that you never thought you would.
 Make it Fun and Engaging
Healthy eating doesn't have to be dull and monotonous. Make it fun and engaging by involving yourself in the entire process, from planning meals to grocery shopping and cooking. Get creative in the kitchen by trying out new recipes or adding your personal twist to existing ones. Engage with the online community by joining forums or following social media accounts that share healthy food ideas. The more exciting you make the journey, the more likely you are to stay committed to it.
Find Healthy Alternatives to Your Favorites
If you're worried about missing out on your favorite foods, remember that there are often healthier alternatives available. For example, if you have a sweet tooth, satisfy your cravings with naturally sweet fruits like berries or dates instead of processed desserts.
Make Small Changes Over Time
Developing healthy food habits is a gradual process. Instead of making drastic changes overnight, focus on making small yet sustainable modifications to your eating patterns. For example, swap out sugary beverages like soda with infused water or herbal tea. Replace refined grains with whole grains like brown rice or quinoa. By making these small changes over time, you'll be able to form new habits without feeling overwhelmed or deprived.
 Conclusion
Congratulations on taking the first step towards a healthier lifestyle by reading this blog post. By following these tips and strategies, you can develop a love for healthy foods that will benefit your overall well-being. Making gradual changes and seeking support will make the journey easier and reap long-lasting rewards. So, go ahead and embark on this exciting adventure of being "hooked on healthy foods" - your body will thank you!

Jujutsu Kaisen Shibuya arc- Worker Abuse and Shonen BS.
Tumblr media
There will be direct story spoilers from this arc. This post is also more negative and heated than I usually post.
JJK’s Shibuya arc is individual moments of awesome surrounded by tons of stuff I think is disappointing or frustrating. It's decent content as a whole but I wouldn't call it great for me. If this didn’t have very good animation for the most part, I would think it's even worse. And sadly, even that positive has been brought down by this anime being a product of horrible working conditions.
Everyone can have their own opinion about if the product should be judged based on the people behind it, and what constitutes abuse, and if they even care what goes on behind the scenes. but for me it matters. I care about how the product came about and what happens behind the scenes. I care that animators are being worked to the point of mental breakdowns and suicidal thoughts. I don’t care how good the product is, horribly exploiting your workers is not ok. For just a second forget about consuming products and have some sympathy for other human beings. There is no product easier to skip out on than a single anime, and skipping out on a studio as a whole isn’t that much harder. The peak of privilege is trying to act like it'll hurt you to skip out on a singular anime when there are 50+ that air every season and plenty of other forms of entertainment. If this idea offends you, please grow up. Stick to the manga and watch other shows where the abuse isn’t as rampant and tangible. Japanese animation studios as a whole need to be better, but this is clearly a step above the rest. I’m thankful many workers at Mappa had the bravery to talk about their situation. Workers publicly airing their grievances is much less common in Japan than in many other parts of the world. I'm sure it was difficult.
I wish we could see the world line where the animators were happy while working on this and had the time and energy to make it even better than what we got, like many of them desired to. I wish I could have continued watching this season without my enjoyment being tainted by what's going on behind the scenes. That world could exist. But Mappa has poor production schedules and abusive practices instead.
This is the most important thing I wanted to talk about. Below I do have some more thoughts just about the content itself. Even if the production issues weren’t a thing, I still wouldn’t be loving this arc.
Let's bring up something positive. Nanami’s death scene was fantastic, as was his beatdown of Haruta (Gotta mention how hilarious the reactions to that episode were across social media). Everything with Nanami this arc is great. Beautiful and fitting send off to the character. I wouldn't change anything.
But overall, I can’t say it lives up to the hype people set up, just focusing on the content. Lots of death baiting and attempts at shock value. It spends the first half or so having characters not die from things they really seem like they should have. I went into it expecting serious stakes and tension. That gets damaged by stuff like Ijichi surviving getting stabbed multiple times, having his head slam into metal, then being left to bleed. Then later they decide they’ll go and kill a bunch of characters. To me this is very poorly distributed. How powerful characters are also can feel inconsistent and convenient. We see how ridiculously strong Jogo is in his fight against Sukuna. But if he’s that strong then it’s hard to understand how torching severely damaged and fatigued Maki and Nanami point blank did not manage to kill either of them. I don’t buy it. It doesn't feel consistent. Yes, they have cursed energy and are decently strong but with everything they just went through I don’t buy that Jogo held back so much for no good reason that they survived his direct attack. We saw in the first season that he can burn a normal person to death in seconds. It just feels inconsistent and convenient. Who can survive what and how strong people are feels like it changes to fit whatever they want to happen. In a series that has in universe power scaling and puts importance on people getting stronger, I want their power to be consistent and feel earned. Yuji suddenly being able to do black flashes back-to-back doesn’t feel earned to me. It feels like it kinda just happened because Yuji needed something new for the next stage of the fight to not immediately lose to awakened Mahito. Characters droning on and on during fights, usually saying what's very clearly happening on screen, etc. It's doing the stereotypical Shonen stuff I don't like.
The removal of Gojo did add tension and I think overall was a good idea for the story. But knowing now that he continues to be sealed even after this arch’s conclusion is a letdown. Simply because he is a fun and interesting character. Not only did we lose my favorite character in Nanami, but we largely lost Gojo too. The loss of his presence is strongly felt. Nanami and Gojo together also had a good dynamic, both in terms of how they bounced off each other and how they educated Yuji and the others differently as adult figures. This dynamic being permanently lost is also a letdown. I can understand moving on from that, but I will miss it, even if it’s potential was used up. I do not think Nanami’s loss is truly negative, as he was a great character while he was here, left his mark, and went out in a satisfying way. But with Gojo being sidelined does feel like a loss for the overall vibe of the show.
Speaking of losses, we lost Nobara? And while her fight was cool and satisfying, I think she went out in a pretty unsatisfying way. It’s pretty wild that they did all the dramatic stuff to make you think she actually is dead, just to say there’s a slight chance she isn’t, then end the season without confirming either. Maki doesn’t even get mentioned again after they said she got healed, I think. I like her as a character and think she had more potential in the story. I think it was a waste to probably kill her off, especially after they already 100% killed one beloved central character in Nanami. I just don’t see myself enjoying the story when its very endearing main trio has been broken. A big part of the comedy and calmer moments being great was the banter between those three. I value the fun side of JJK and losing Nobara is a huge blow to that. And I cannot see a way of that being recovered unless they bring her back and succeed at the challenge of making that satisfying.
Outside of the fun character moments my favorite this about JJK is the fights. Cool powers, dynamic environments etc. We got plenty of fight scenes this arc, with most of them being very good. Standout being Yuji vs Choso and everything Todo was involved in. Everything Todo related is awesome. His power is used in very interesting ways, and he brings fun energy even to serious situations. But there are mediocre fights too. Dagon is nothing. Bland bog-standard villain that has no value. He is uninteresting, his power is uninteresting, the fight is uninteresting, the animation took a notable dip in quality, and he carries little weight. He got the old guy we just got introduced to killed i guess but that's really it. He maimed Maki and Nanami but that directly did not really impact things since they get maimed again immediately after by Jogo. This is the trademark forgettable Shonen villain for me. The fact that his fight is one of the ones we see the animation suffer in more probably means they thought little of it too. As they were ok with it looking worse off than others. Let's continue the topic of villains.
I grew very tired of Mahito as a villain and am glad he’s finally gone. He just never did it for me. I get what he is about thematically, I’m not trying to act like he is a zero-substance character. I just didn’t enjoy him. I think his sneering villain shtick got old and grating really fast. He also did a lot of talking. He does have some great fun energy he brings to his often very serious scenes. But I think there was too much of him for me. The Japanese voice acting is fantastic though, he made the character much more tolerable.
It’s a shame that Geto (the person), the villain I was most interested in, got axed very quickly. And replaced by a guy who I really don't care for much. While Mahito, the one I didn’t care for as much, got to stick around for much longer. I’m sure that’s fine for people who feel differently, but not for me. I’m glad Geto’s power still lives on, but I was very invested in who he was as a character. Especially after the prequel eps. Another creative decision that I really don’t care for. And on that topic, Toji’s return was super disappointing in execution. He spent most of his screen time being a mindless murderbot. It just wasn’t interesting at all. Some more quick villain opinions- Haruta also kinda annoying and repetitive like Mahito but at least he wasn't here as long and Choso is a great character with awesome powers.
I continue to not feel super invested in the story itself. It’s not awful but I’m not as into it as I’d like to be. It’s harder to go into detail on this because it might be as simple as just not vibing with me. I think it’s just my taste. I’m not trying to say I have better taste than JJK doesn't appeal to. I talk to friends and see people online who clearly feel the story and emotions much more than I do. If you do, great! It’s just not working great for me.
Last short thought. I feel like the last episode ended on a weird note. Like it rushed that final confrontation to conclude with us not even seeing what happened. We just know Yuji got out of it, rest isn't worth showing now, I guess? Strange and not a big fan. Maybe some repetitive dialogue could've been shaved down so you had a few more minutes.
Sorry for a very negative post but this is how I feel. I hope I don’t sound too tonally angry; I promise steam wasn’t coming out of my ears while I wrote this lol. Please believe me when I say that my criticisms of the content are not just from me being mad about the workplace environment. Many of these criticisms I felt back when I first started watching the show and came right after the peak of my investment in the show (the prequel arc). But worker abuse matters to me and does translate to how I feel about the product. Just in terms of story content, there’s so much this arc I don’t care for. It's not utter garbage, but for each thing I applaud there's at least one thing I boo. Hopefully you enjoyed it more than me. This arc did not live up to the hype fans and the previous arc set for it.
Am I going to watch the next season of JJK? Definitely not if Mappa doesn’t change for the better. If they do change, maybe. Solely speaking on the content JJK lost a lot of the interest and optimism the prequel arc gave me. And while I'm not spoiled on specifics, I’m hearing that stuff coming later isn’t great. We'll see what the future holds, with it hopefully being more positive. If you want a sequel arc of a popular shonen show that is very good, of consistent quality and is impactful on the rest of the series with no evidence of abuse that I am aware of please watch Dr Stone New World, which I will be doing a post on. Thank you for reading.
