NSFT Alphabet: Frederick Kreiburg

I didn't realize I had a lot of feelings about him until writing this

Warnings: trauma

A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)

Frederick is touch starved without actually knowing it. He knows he appreciates your affection and how you often give him attention with it, but to give it back is different. He does wipe you down, cleaning the mess between your legs and his after takes a second to gather himself.

Frederick, to me, seems like he was objectified. Being both talented, a man of status, and a Kreiburg; he had to do whatever was expected of man of that time. He has issues with his masculinity because he was both a man with power but yet used like a man with no power. He was heavily sought after by women and often pushed into having sex. It left him with body image issues and a level of disdain towards sex. He only offered it to you as a form of using it over you until you tell him your feelings for him are genuine. He stops having sex with you for a while, learning self love with you. Frederick needs it, he needs someone gentle but strong for him.

COLOURING BEFORE AND AFTER!

was tagged by @applejongho and @hwanswerland for this challenge thank you guys 🥰 been a long time since i did the last one i think. there are no specific style that i have in cause different clips will have different presets. generally, i try to return the natural skin color. and i really love to make seonghwa looks warmer so i usually kinda abuse the "red" slider asdjkfd for mvs, i tend to use more dramatic presets (like the 90s horror for wooyoung in it's you and boosted the fiery yellow for mingi in youth). and even alter the og color to its complementary partner (e.g red -> blue), especially if i intend to have a piece of literature for them. because mvs allow me to theorize and be more creative and sometimes, i need the colors to emphasize the message or the ambience i want people to read. other than mvs, im just trying my best to get the skin tone back 😂

-I like the idea that Mike, Abby, Ness, Vanessa, Max, and Cory(/whatever his characters name is/would be) are all friends and call themselves the fazgang, which Ness, Abby, and Vanessa were definitely the ones who came up with that

-Mike eventually agrees to take Ness to Freddy’s after months of asking, and the two of them + Abby and Vanessa all go together to hang out with the animatronics and tell each other stuff about the place (Ness finally finds out the truth abt everything)

-Mike listens to 80’s music and like “male manipulator” type shit (he’s an angsty trans guy bros a stereotype /pos) and Ness is a def a Swifty he loves “white girl who’s friends are almost all gay men” type music /hj

-when Abby finds out that Mike and Ness like each other, she is GOBSMACKED because her brother has always been chronically bitchless on both ends but then she gets all excited to try and play match maker (she asks Vanessa for help and they’re actually kinda good at it)

-Ness on the other hand loves jewelry and accessories and fun clothing in general. They have earings, bracelets, rings, pins, glasses, jackets, belts, pants and shirts with fun designs, etc. he loves dressing up

-Ness’ love language is yapping (info dumping, rambling, pet names, words of affirmation, etc.) and Mike loves to listen (even though he has no idea what they’re on abt half the time, he just likes hearing their voice and seeing them happy/excited/passionate)

-Mike and Ness absolutely share music with/make playlists for each other, even though majority of the time their music taste is NOT similar like AT ALL 💔💔💔

-Ness likes buying Mike shirts. Usually they’ll be nice and buy him shirts with stuff he’s interested in on it (music, movies, etc.) but he will also buy dumb things or cheesy couple stuff to see how much he can get away with (Mike always wears them, even if he thinks they’re dumb, though if they’re too dumb he’ll usually wear hoodies and jackets over them. Still wears them though)

-Mike and Ness absolutely steal each others clothes. They don’t wear them, cause they’re different sizes and styles, but being the clingy hoes they are, they’ll steal shirts and hoodies and stuff just simply to have, especially if they have to be apart for a long time

-whenever/if Mike eventually gets top surgery, Ness immediately becomes more touchy because they know that Mike is far more comfortable. They hug and cuddle him without worry, they run their hands across his chest, they kiss his scars, etc. UGH they’re so sweet I love them

-fall and winter are Mike and Ness’ favorite seasons. Mike loves it because of the cooler and darker weather, meaning he can comfortably layer clothes and experiences less weather related sensory issues (temperature, sunlight, etc.), Ness loves the holidays and the seasonal treats

-Mike and Ness love carnival and arcade dates. Ness loves carnival treats and rides, Mike likes winning games, they both like getting cute little prizes for each other. They do have to take precautions for overstimulation though lol. Noise canceling headphones (Ness has the obvious over ear ones that they like to decorate, Mike wears ear plugs/buds), sunglasses if lights are too much, little codes to let the other know that they need a break or wanna leave, etc.

-they cook together. Again, I do love the “Mike can’t cook for shit” headcanon but frankly that’s not super likely so they just cook together and it’s cute

-cute at home movie dates where they either bond over nerdy shit (like Marvel, Star Wars, whatever) and Ness can’t stop talking about his theories and Easter eggs and general things he thinks about the movies the whole time, which Mike doesn’t mind since he’s already seen them plenty of times and again he just likes listening to Ness, or Ness makes them watch cheesy romcoms that make Mike want to pull his hair out and he actively complains and makes fun of the characters the whole movie, which Ness doesn’t mind cause like yeah he’s right but they’re also always like “omg us” and Mike is like “what no nuh uh we’re so much cooler than them/I don’t act anything like that” and then Ness gives him a look and Mike is like “babe, stop, no, we’re/im not like that” and then Ness starts making a silly little impression of some shit Mike does and then Mike sees their point but is still stubborn abt it and just akskdslsdn you get the idea

The Harbingers with a Gn!reader teapot god

Childe

Childe .. *cough* cough* .. Ajax would toss his entire family in the tea pot to keep them safe and close to him at all times. He will also use it as a hiding spot when Pantalone confronts him about the money he spends on Zhongli. Other than that he started flirtin with you the moment he first entered the tea pot. This cocky bastard chose the realm to be the beach so he can just float and see the panic in you when you realise how far away from land he got, giving you a cheeky coment after you bring him back to shore. "Missed me that much?". No matter how much of an ass Chile can be his family is a delight, his mom often inviting you to drink some hot chocolate with them. Similar to the healing abilities of the statues of the seven Chile will have a pool of water made by you for him to heal from his battles before going back to his family. While his family lives in the main house the two of uou also have a house of your own, where you and him have your private time.

Il Dottore

While Childe will treat you mostly as what you are, a god, Dottore will mostly treat you like a pet. Asking you to show him the most impresive strenghts and powers, testing your limits only for a kiss or a few headpats in return.His main house basically turns into a bunch of different laboratories, hes like" a surgery room here, my chemical cabinets there, the equipment for my next project will be upstairs ok darling, thank you". He will inform you where every piece of equipment is . . . and you have to remember it, cause he will ask you for it during procedures, and he needs it fast. He may seem cold but the moment he sees one of his assistants talking to you or trying to take notes on you or your abilities that poor soul is going of the edge, that is when you realise why he chose to keep the floating islands realm. He usually eats outside so he can see you while doing so, its kinda like a break for him, also he doesnt want to get his lab dirty, so when you dont see him outside for a while that means he didnt get his break so you will have to drag him out from time to time while he rants about his scientifical process being intrerupted.

Pantalone

I already know one of them rooms is top to bottom filled with all the paperwork and contract that he has, the rest being filled with the most luxurious and expensive items in Teyvat, like one room can cover the costs for one or two jade chambers. He also gets himself an outdoor library up on a small floating island surounded by those gigant sakura trees and the elevator that gets him up there, cause of course he's not gonna climb, after all he is no peasant. If he craves your affection he will demand to sit either on your chest or on the shoulder with your hand covering his lower half like a blanket while he reads his books or paperwork. Unlike Dottore, Pantalone does often take breaks from his work and regular self-care routines. His realm is the inazuma style one simply because it is harder to obtain than the others.

Il Capitano

Behaviour wise Capitano is similar to Childe acknowledging you as a god but still not treating you as a superior, more like an equal. He will try to court you by showing you the benefits both for you and him. Benifits for you will include a loyal loving partner who will always be honest and fair to you. Benifits for him include an imortal lover who cannot be killed by enemies or taken away by another due to you not being able to leave the tea pot. The only people allowed to enter it are the other harbingers except for Childe. While Pantalone or Piero might throw you a compliment or two out of politeness Childe went all out trying to woo you just to get on his superior's nerves. Childe got the fight that he wanted, less of a fight more like a beating, yes Childe got the beating of a lifetime. While Capitano respects most of the harbingers he cannot stand Childe his loud mouth and flirty atitude especially around his lover.

Arlechino

She would 100% try to somehow connect you to her machinery so she would have control over you. She feels that since it's her tea pot everything in it also belongs to her and it should bend at her will, you included. She will bring the unfinished peojects in, mountains upon mountains of scraps. She doesnt even bother to decorate or change the realm, one island that looks relatively clean but every other island is covered in matal. Your relationship wouldnt be very lovey dovey since she rarely shows affection to anything other than her creations. A kiss here and there but only when you do something for her like if you give her food or clean the house but her lab since she forbid everyone to enter it. You get a lot more kisses if you stop other harbingers from entering, lets say one of them got very curious about he project she spoke of so eagerly and sneaked to the door trying to enter only to be picked up by a giant hand and dragged out through a window to face a very displeased Arlechino. She motioned you to lean down so she can give you lots of kisses for protecting her belongings.

Pierro

Lets be honest Pierro loves the fact that you are so much bigger than him. Not because he feels soft but because he gets so excited at the ideea that he is so powerful that he can make gods submit to him. He is another harbinger that spoils you, mostly by making his realm fit you, like the beach realm, where you can lay down your top on the island and you bottom submerged in water. He belives its a much better alternative than the mountains that would poke you if you would ever try to sit or lay down or continuously float in the sumeru or floating island realms. He also makes Pantalone buy a lot of different materials to craft you a giant pillow. I belive he will be the one to care the most about you comfort, Capitano following close on the ideea of making you happy no matter what. He will force all of the fatui under his command to bring him every blueprint from every remarkable chest that they find. His serenita teapot would look extremily clean and spotless: he builds bridges in between the islands and surrounding the main house with tall beautiful flowers from Sumeru, since it never rains or snows in his tea pot he will make so that the rooftop can be opened up for you to look inside and spend time with him even when he's working.

Walking in the same direction was the Port Mafia member, Nakahara Chuuya. He saw you a block away, instantly recognizing you from your hair. excitement boiled in his blood. He desired to sprint towards you and beg for your autograph. But wait. He can't. He's part of the Port mafia...he's a very dangerous individual. However, how could a teenager like you casually stroll on the street when you are a well known aspiring idol in Yokohama? He could protect you… yes, that's it! He'll protect you.

He sped walked towards you, walking up in front of you. He had a look of determination on his face as he stood in front of you, stoping you on your tracks.

You tilted your head in confusion, your h/l h/c locks swayed with the wind. "Ah…excuse me sir. I would like to pass."

Chuuya kept his ground, his ocean blue eyes staring at your form. "I know you. Aren't you that high school idol who posts vids on YouTube or somethin? I watch your videos!" He said, eyes shining with excitement. "I'm a huge fan!"

Your eyes widen. How did this boy know you? He doesn't look to listen to the song you post. 

"Thank you very much for your support!" You said, giving the boy a cheerful smile. "May I ask for your name?"

"Nakahara Chuuya," Chuuya said, smiling at you softly. "Why is someone like you walking alone?"

"I just wanted to go to the karaoke," you say, pointing at the place a block away in a excited fashion. "Would you like to join me? I won't mind having a partner to sing with!" (Darling, you are so positive and inviting. How? *cries*.)

Chuuya stood there with his mouth agape. "Really?" He asked, eyes twinkling with concealed excitement.

You nodded enthusiastically. "Of course!"

"Yahoo!" Chuuya jumped with joy, something that someone like him rarely does. He smiled and giggled. He felt bubbles of happiness form in chest. "It's such an honor."

"I'm glad that you're happy." You smile, grabbing his hand gently and leading the both of you to the karaoke place. You failed to notice the growing blush on Chuuya's cheeks as you walked inside the karaoke and placed your orders for the booth.

You both walked into your booth and sat down. The two of you laugh and joke around, experimenting with different singing styles and enjoying each other's company.

"You really are so positive," Chuuya complimented, staring at you in awe. "It's inspiring."

You smile brightly, eyes glittering. "Why thank you. I see people unhappy and tired sometimes. I want to be the light that helps them towards the direction of positivity! That's part of the reason why I sing!" You smiled even more, giving Chuuya a closed eyed smile.

The two of you sang together. Doing solos, and covers to both of your favorite songs. Chuuya had never felt this happy in his life. His left has been quite shitty so say the very least. That was why when he watched you sing, when he saw how happy you were, he felt very grateful to have been given an opportunity to spend this time with you.

do you have any examples of/advice about those relational needs discussions you mentioned in your answer to the anon asking about therapy alternatives? that’s such a fantastic idea, but i don’t think i’d know how to even begin to structure that kind of talk. thank you! :)

yes! to begin, i really recommend dedicating some time to play some kind of conversation game, or q/a convo. you can get a lot of conversation cards of different styles and genres to start the process, but what i've done with some people is also just keep a list of things you want to ask them about or topics to try. these can be completely random and as silly as you want. often, they can lead to an opportunity to talk about a need or boundary, and can feel less awkward than asking directly.

it can also help to start with a quiz. it's super corny, but taking something like the love language test together and sharing your results can flow naturally in a conversation about what you're capable of providing for / need from each other. the way myself and my lov/qpp @estuarry went about this as teenagers (not knowing what this was, just kinda Feeling It Out) was taking mbti tests and talking about astrology. having a predefined list of characteristics that you might identify with can make it easier to be honest and precise about what you need. saying, like, "i'm really an introvert" means/meant a way to communicate: "when i need time away from you/everyone, it means i'm resting - i love you / don't disturb me rn". the result might be something about not expecting long visits/phone calls, or visiting with each other less frequently.

i tell most of my close friends and partners, and put in all boundaries agreements, that i'll always read and respond to their texts in full, but it will almost certainly take a while. there's only like 4 people on earth who could call/text whenever and always have me pick up. i say, "i can't be around all that noise, i can't go to your party." when i'm staying in someone's house for the first time, i might say that i need to sleep in a different bed. another common one is when people tell their partners where and where not to touch - the conversation might be me saying, you can touch my chest, ask about this part, but don't touch this part.

these documents (verbal or textual!) are going to grow as people/relationships do, and will be pieced out throughout your time together. but you can def start by finding some outside way of organizing your knowledge about each other!

ahhhhhh!!! you can honestly project and imagine whatever you want onto rip!mc she's meant to be written that way!!! but yes haha if you know me then you probably im a very big proponent of having platonic and romantic love overlap. to me there's no clear boundary that marks romantic from platonic vice versa and i don't really think it's something to be necessarily distinguished as different. love is love you know. but also imo our western constructs of romantic love vs platonic love works to our detriment. it places too much of a heavy burden on a partner to fulfill all your emotional needs and emphasizes romantic fulfillment over platonic fulfillment when ideally you should have both! anyway I went off on a tangent lmfao. Wes sings behind closed doors so if Priscilla ever wants to sing with him he has to be in a different room or he'll just freeze up

Sorry about that, I know I've received multiple asks about that!

Alright kiddos, buckle up and be prepared to enter the world of Moe. (Chibi is kind of related as it is decended from Moe).

First, what is Moe?

Moe is a style of art and a genre of anime/manga which centralises around the idea of youthful innocence and cuteness derived thereof. It is historically depicted using mainly young or young looking girls, and originally played on the idea of invoking paternal protectiveness in the male audiences it was intended for.

Since its inception in the 90s it's focus has shifted, and most modern Moe is targeted at the opposite audience it was originally intended for, (adult men 20-45 - yes, Classic Moe targets the same age group as Seinen) instead focusing on young girls more in the Shojou category (13-18). Still, there's a lot of Classic Moe out there, and it's tone definitely delivers on the promise of inspiring protective feelings when it's done well.

Classic Moe Girls are:

A) usually some flavor of child,

B) naive and cluelessly reckless, often endangering themselves by letting their curiosity or convictions get the better of them. "Curiosity killed the cat" and all that. They're also sometimes naively brave.

C) because of the above mentioned, they often find themselves in trouble, and in Classic Moe fashion, the Father or Older Brother character must come to their rescue or otherwise save them from themselves. Martyrdom (of any character) and willingness to defend the indefensible is a big deal in Moe, and though often comedic, can get pretty intense sometimes.

My go-to example of Moe overall that is kinda serious is Bakemonogatari. You want Moe, there's all different kinds in there - in fact I'm pretty sure every kind is in there.

But back to Moe = parenting. Well, I didnt exactly say his interest would make him a good parent - but rather it potentially demonatrates that he has paternal and/or protective instincts.

The whole purpose of Classic Moe is to prey on these instincts - which would be cause enough for him to be interested, unto itself. He's fascinated by human things, especially things he does not quite understand, so a lack of instincts may be just as compelling of a reason for him to be intrigued.

But i have a hard time buying that he lacks protective or parental instincts, on multiple levels. The interest in Moe and cute things, which may very well herald from a dark source, just adds a piece of potential evidence.

I'm gonna go ahead and answer @teuf-el 's ask here too, and talk a little about my HC that Samael = Lilith.

Why? Given that Iblis = Ishtar, and Lilith is described as being rather Fiery, I've had people (ahem my partner) shed doubt on that assumption. Doesnt it make more sense for Iblis to be Lilith?

Yes, but also no.

Personally, I think Adam was a real person in BE, and very probably the first son of Lucifer, and possibly even a hybrid child if such a thing is possible between Lucifer and Shemihaza. Given that Iblis loves him so weirdly, you'd expect she, or someone else, might come up with a story injecting her into it. And on that front it makes sense.

But I am not so convinced, because Lilith and Samael are, in many ways, linked.

Alright, so starting at the beginning:

if you did not know, according to the Lilith myth, Abel is the son of Eve, and Cain is the son of Lilith, who was Adams first wife.

Lilith was cast from the Garden (Amahara) or in some versions just up and left on her own because she refused to submit to Adam. She would not obey him, not even in sex, in which she famously refused to be under him.

Once outside the Garden she "coupled with" the archangel Samael, and swore never to return to the Garden or have anything to do with Adam. From this point onward, in several texts, including the Talmud, Samael is synonymous with Lilith, though the exact nature of this is debatable. Some Historians believe it's meant to imply they were husband/wife (an interesting idea on its own) some argue they became the same person, since Archangel Samael is a sketchy dude anyway ( breif recap: his job is to bring about calamity, stir up derision, and bring misfortune upon believers in order to strengthen their will and belief in God, by pretty much doing his damndest to make them doubt His existence) and Lilith and Samael both do similar things and serve similar mythological functions.

The big thing with Lilith is that because she left the Garden and could not return, she had to leave baby Cain behind. This utterly devastated her, and inspired her to become a jealous, broody mother who would steal infants in the night, trying to replace what she had lost. But in one way or another she always - by accident or by intention - ends up killing the child. She goes on to have more "children" of her own, but they are "hideous and deformed demons" who do not inspire her maternal instinct the same way. She wantonly kills quite a lot of these children, often eating them, bitter and resentful that none can replace Cain.

The ironic thing is that after Cain killed Abel, he was punished by "God" (or A god as it were) with the Mark of Cain - a curse that renders him immortal, but in a dreadful way, because everything around him dies wherever he goes. The ground he walks upon becomes barren of all life, and he must perpetually live to see the world around him suffer for his existence. That is Cains punishment.

Now, given the assumption from what we have seen whereby kin of Time seem to feed on the energy of living things, it seems plausible to me that Cain would be Samael's son, cursed by his own father/mother, quite possibly, or otherwise having to suffer his own power as a Nephilim.

Now, there's additional mythological considerations for my defense of his having parental instincts, semi supported by Canon - Loki.

Loki is both male and female, recall, and has several children, not the least of which is the World Serpent, Fenrir the giant wolf, and Sleipnir the 8 legged horse. They are the mother of both Sleipnir and Fenrir.

Not much is known of Loki's half human children, only that he did have them. Loki being a trickster God, was associated with the Devil by Catholic missionaries, so huge amounts of his mythology was lost or changed, but we do know he was known to fornicate with mortal humans too, and had children with them, we just don't know who they were.

(Funny as he IS the devil in BE)

I realise some of this is far fetched, but take into consideration that Samael in BE did help Shiro with the twins prior to collecting human helpers, and he does, if Salaryman Exorcist is even a little cannon, look out for Yukio in a distant way.

Assuming he is Lilith, and knowing he is Loki, and factoring in his love of Moe, and looking at how he handles Yukio, I stubbornly refuse to believe he has no parental instinct, and even less so that he doesn't have protective ones. Loki is an ass in his mythology, but he looks out for his family and helps them as much as he annoys them, despite being adopted.

This was Long and I apologise but there isnt a much easier way of expounding upon this besides to whiteboard with strings everywhere about it lolol

6. Work I’m most proud of (and why): 

I Hope We Never Change was my first story and I've put a lot of heart into it. But I also have to mention my advent fic love drunk, waiting on a miracle. Writing 30k words in just three weeks is something I could never have seen myself do. It has been a challenge but I am soo glad I did it.

7. Work I’m least proud of (and why):

I Hope We Never Change Yeah I'm really proud of this one, but I also know I could've done soo much better. As is often the case with your first work, I think.

8. Share or describe a favourite review you received:

This one, because I love when a comment reflects what I wanted to portray. Makes me feel like I've done a good job. Same with this one. And I loved this one, too.

I also received some video reaction from my lovely beta @liberty-barnes which is just something else I love that soo much. <3

But honestly, I cry about almost every comment. I'm just soo grateful people enjoy my silly lil writing.

Finishing Every Snowflake Is Different (Just Like You) was really hard. I struggled with fitting the pieces together a lot

No really a scene, but then again REALLY a scene XD, but writing Slow Hands really wasn't on by bucket list. It was, if nothing else, a great writing exercise and I'm happy people liked it even tho it had Narry in it XD. (also, if anyone sees this as a kinda sequel to I Hope We Never Change, I will not disagree, although I didn't write it like that it might very well be)

11. A favourite excerpt of your writing:

"All that will ever matter to me is you. My sexuality could never be more important. I haven't figured out what I am yet, but I know I’m yours. And I want you to always be mine. Whether that be my boyfriend, girlfriend, my partner.” (I Hope We Never Change)

12. How did you grow as a writer this year:

When I started again in June after almost ten years of not writing anything, I didn't think I would ever post anything. And now here I am, with 10 stories and over 80k words and I can't quite believe that even happened and that people would enjoy my writing at all.

13. How do you hope to grow next year:

There are a lot of areas I struggle with. Writing a scene with lots of people for example. I hope to get out of my comfort zone a bit next year.

14. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):

This will sounds like no advice at all, but just write. Doesn't matter if it's good, doesn't matter if it makes sense, doesn't matter if anything's missing. I have so many things marked as unfinished, so many half written sentences (mark those, otherwise your beta will be very confused XD sorry @liberty-barnes :*)

If I have a scene in my head I'll write it even if it's just a few sentences. I can always change it later if it doesn't quite fit anymore, but at least I have it written down.

17. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year: 

Yes, I have a pretty big project planned. Can't wait to start writing.

In the years since Damian arrived in Gotham, the trio had also adopted Colin into their group, when they all teamed up behind Batman’s back to take down a children’s fighting ring. Colin rarely comes out as Abuse, instead trying to go back to a normal life, but he still hangs out with Duke, Mia, and Damian at Gotham Academy.

Ever since Talia dropped Damian off with him, Bruce has been hearing rumors about a civil war brewing within the League. He and Damian, while patrolling together, run into Cass (8), who is in the process of both being kidnapped and also kicking her kidnapper’s assess. Damian recognizes Cass’s style as League-trained, but Cass also recognizes Damian’s movements as League-trained and books it. She doesn’t leave Gotham though, and over the next few months she keeps showing up randomly, only when Batman is alone, and never really doing anything, just watching him and disappearing when he gets too close. At the same time, Bruce learns for sure that there is a Wholeass War Going On in the League, allegedly started by The One Who Is All deserting the League, causing followers of Ra’s al Ghul to turn on David Cain. Cain then started calling in favors and allies to fight against Ra’s, and within a year nearly the entire assassin community was embroiled in a conflict nobody was totally sure why they were fighting, WW1-style. 

Bruce finally manages to start a pantomime communication with Cass, where he learns that she is running from someone dangerous, is yes-no scared of the dangerous person, and trusts him (Bruce) for some non-pantomimable reason. She eventually agrees to come back to the Cave with Bruce. Damian Loses His Mind when he realizes who Cass is, and together Damian, Bruce, Duke, and Mia, with additions from Cass, manage to piece together what exactly is going on with the aforementioned war that Bruce had only been kinda sure was even happening. Because of the communication barrier (that Cass may or not be playing up to get what she wants), Cass joined the trio on the streets within a week, and was adopted within a month. The League immediately takes notice of this and approximately 200 assassins of differing factions within the League all descend upon Gotham and start fighting each other, their own factions, and Batman and Co. By the time the dust settles, Talia has made an appearance personally in Gotham. She and Damain get into a blow-up fight about her leaving him with Bruce all those years ago, Damian has another morality crisis (to kill or not to kill, that is the question), and Talia and him part with a new, if not better, relationship. They learn that Cass made her first kill three years ago and immediately ran away from David Cain, which is what started this whole mess in the first place. Mia starts calling Cass “Batgirl”, as a throwback to her first alias back when she was in elementary school and still doing her best to annoy Batman into training her. Also, while the gazillion assassins were in Gotham, Maps met a magic specialist who took interest in her near-encyclopedic knowledge of occult theory and offered to train her in the practice. Mia accepted and leaves Gotham to train with no warning to anyone but the Bats, so congrats to her for becoming another cold case in a long history of Gotham cold cases, this is what ten-year-old Mia would have wanted.

camp cloudtop- chapter nine

Vex is kinda a bitch and Vax is kinda a simp, so, you know, the usual.

Backpacks fell to a heap at the door as Vax and Vex arrived at their apartment, their bodies falling on a heap on the couch just as the door swung shut. Their apartment, just like everything in their lives, was a perfect conglomeration of their two styles. Most of the furniture had been thrifted, but they managed to keep a thread of industrial grunge mixed with some posher elements. Their apartment was essentially a stretched out U-shape, following the odd architecture of their building. The open floor plan kitchen and living space were on one end and the bedrooms and bathrooms were on the other. The dark vinyl couch was long enough to fit three people comfortably, four if one was of the smaller species; bits and pieces of the fabric had started coming off the arms and ends, but the twins didn’t seem too bothered. Their coffee table was littered with their toys: arrows of all kinds, both made and in construction, were scattered about while a collection of Vax’s throwing daggers were kept well organized in a case he kept on the bottom shelf of the table. Over the wall mounted TV they recently brought in was a painting, Vex’s favorite painting, of a bear frolicing through a sunlit field, a little family of other bears in the background. 

“Did you see the girl in my group with the white streak in her hair?” Vex reached over her shoulder and pulled the hair tie from the bottom of her braided ponytail, slowly working her hair out so it laid on her back, wavy and voluminous.

“That’s Cassandra, right? Percy’s sister?” Vax turned his head against the couch cushion to look at his sister. “She got so tall.” 

“I love that she’s in our group. No one can roast another like their sister can.”

Vax scoffed. “Tell me about it.” 

Vex laughed, reaching over to punch him in the arm. Percy had left them just after the teleportation circle; he and Cassandra lived in one of the nicer districts of town in a brownstone that the twins could only dream to own one day.

“Kash made quite a bold move on your ‘partner’ this afternoon.” Her eyes watched her brother as she made air quotes around the word partner, and while he didn’t cross his arms or stiffen his shoulders, she could tell that he had held his breath for a moment; it was what he did when he was trying to hold something back, thinking of an appropriate response.

“He always liked to believe he was faster than me.”

“Let him be. You don’t need that in your life. Dating a coworker never ends well.” 

“That’s the pot calling the kettle black if I’ve ever heard it.” 

“Do you ever listen? I told you this morning. Percy and I are not dating. We’re fucking. It’s different.”

“You might want to tell him that.”

One of Vax’s brows arch high onto her forehead. “What on Exandria are you talking about?”

“Don’t you see how he looks at you? He practically worships the ground you walk on.”

“Well, everyone should do that no matter the circumstance.”

Vax rolled his eyes and pushed himself to his feet, walking over to their fridge to grab a beer. Despite his annoyance, he tossed one to Vex as well. 

“But, really, Vax. I know you. The last thing you need is to fall head over heels for your ‘partner’,” again with the air quotes, “only for it to end poorly. Then you’re stuck, miserable, for the rest of the summer.”

What Vex didn’t understand was Vax wasn’t quite sure he had a say in the matter. Keyleth was so kind and bright; it was hard not to find himself overtaken by her spirit, even if they had only known each other for a few days. 

“Besides,” Vex shrugged as she took a sip of her beer, “if you go frolicing about with nature girl, when are you going to have time for me?” 

A pang of guilt bloomed in Vax’s chest, his lips down turning into a heavy frown. She was right, wasn’t she? The twins made a pact long ago to stick together, no matter where they went, no matter the cost. It was them against the world, and it would always be them against the world. How selfish was it that he was thinking about dividing his attention; would Keyleth even understand his loyalty to his sister?  

He took another swig of his beer. “I’m sure Kash will show her a good time.” Vax then retreated to his bedroom and closed the door behind him, ready for a hot shower and the buzz of three more beers he planned to drink.
