In the interests of helping me sort out what chaos I should get up to with the next scene of my first DC Rarepair Week Devilfish fic, I'm turning the options over you.

Note: Some options on that list are not included here due to time placement (relative to the fic), limited option spaces, and which ones sounded uninteresting enough that I didn't mind dropping them from this poll. Likewise, there's a good chance that I'm going to wind up watching whatever the final choice is. If I can't access it, then I'll go to the next most popular one that I can.

Y’all know what I think would make an interesting AU?

If everyone in the 90’s Young Justice was a clone or a “clone”

Canonically we’ve already got two out of the main ten

Conner Kent/Superboy being a “clone” of Superman & Lex Luthor

& Slobo being a clone of Lobo

Two things to note 1) I think it’s kinda boring if all of them have the same backstory so I’ll still try to give them all a reason that they’ve left Cadmus early in life

And 2) If we’re looking at all the various DC works 1 to 1 clones usually have some major issues

For example the other attempts at cloning Superman didn’t work, the DNA was too unstable

And in the DCAU, the Supergirl 1 on 1 clone had the side effect of being mentally connected to Supergirl which made her mentally unstable and Waller purposely avoided going the 1 to 1 route with Terry implying that it was still not a smart route to go down decades later

Therefore every “clone” will still have two “parents”

Let’s start with the other members of the core four

Tim - obviously a clone of Bruce, could add in Selena’s DNA if the scientists want some extra kick or he could still be the son of Janet so that he’s raised in a similar manner (rich kid upbringing) to Bruce

Janet and Jack could be having fertility issues and are given an opportunity to have a child through Cadmus and they just ignore all the weird stuff like rich people tend to do. Maybe they know Tim is Bruce’s clone, maybe they don’t. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Cassie - Diana Prince & Steve Trevor - not only would this give them access to the Amazons/Themyscira but also to a member of military personnel who knows a lot of stuff he probably shouldn’t

If this pairing Helena Sandsmark could be chosen to adopt her specifically so that she has a higher chance of interacting with the Greek gods which activates her powers (I mean Helena is already canonically interacting with them - might not be hard for Cadmus to realize that)

Could also do Diana & Helena Sandsmark, she could be in the same boat as Janet in the earlier scenario and just rolls with all the weird stuff.

Bart - Barry and Iris. Could still have the aging problem and still raised in Virtual Reality just some centuries behind the usual route. Imagine him thinking up the twins names himself - I mean Dawn and Don as twin names SOUND like they came from a kid raised in VR lol. When Barry and Iris later have the twins, they just roll with the names because Bart said them so matter of fact and Cadmus acts like they aren’t surprised that Bart got it right about Iris’s pregnancy.

Maybe they send him to go find Wally through suggestions from the VR so that he can better learn his powers/can become the next Flash and then Wally sends him to Max like in canon.

Now for the others…

Cissie - super easy Bonnie & Ollie. Bonnie as an Olympic-level archer wants her daughter to be the best archer and a hero and so she seeks out Cadmus and asks just straight up asks them for a clone.

Greta - I’m sorry to say is a mystery. She was a failed clone but no one seems to know who her original DNA came from.

Anita - could be a clone of her mother Oshi if Agua killed Oshi before she had Anita. Cadmus could reach out and be like hey Donald Fite it’s not the same as having your wife back but um, we could clone her? Give you a kid? Maybe Agua pushes for it idk

La'gaan - I couldn’t find much about his history prior to him becoming an Atlantis citizen so I imagine Cadmus might have captured his “parents” or maybe it’s someone who works with Orm and wants to send in a spy and though a child would be easier to get in than an adult. When Aquaman makes him a citizen he decides not to betray his confidence.

Ray - cloned from the original Ray and his wife or another golden age hero. Again pretty simple. Cadmus just thought he was neat. They are obsessed with Sun based superheroes after all. Ray is one I could see being locked up in Cadmus until the formation of the team since he was already locked away from the Sun in his origin story.

So at some point I imagine Tim would probably start to unravel things which would lead to similar events to canon (regarding the formation of the team I mean) but I just think it would be interesting since cloning is so prevalent in the DC universe to have an entire team of clones or “clones”

Maybe after distributing the other clones Luthor gets the idea to actually raise Conner himself which is always a fun AU

Plus with all this cloning going on they could potentially have the tools to prevent Slobo’s body from degrading which is a nice bonus

In Atlantis, is there a stigma attached to fuller figures like there is on the surface? What's your opinion on them?

I could answer this straight-forward and point-blank, but I don’t that’ll get the point across as thoroughly as I know I can, so congrats– I’m coming at this sideways and pulling what I pull at my students at the Conservatory sometimes. You’re welcome. lol

So the first thing to know is that Atlantis, at our highest point, is about 200 feet/61-ish meters below the surface of the water, and at our lowest point (or what’s currently considered our lowest point) is about 660 feet/201-ish meters below the surface.

Which means our ‘normal’ temperatures? Glubbing cold.

If it’s 70°F/roughly-21°C at the surface, then it’s about 59°F/15°C at our highest point (in Poseidonis) and roughly-34°F/1°C at our lowest point. That’s in the warm months.

If it’s roughly-55°F/roughly-13°C at the surface, then it’s about 44°F/roughly-7°C in Poseidonis and roughly-19°F/-7.3°C at our lowest point. Which happens to be winter in general.

All of this is to say, being curvy/bulky/fat/whatever-description-of-choice is NOT a bad thing in Atlantis and is generally seen as pretty damned attractive. If you’re bigger, you’re not freezing. And, oh yeah–

‘FROZEN-CHIC’ IS NOT A THING.

Because you know what’s not attractive in Atlantis? Freezing to death.

(The fact that there’s so many of us on the slim side is actually reely damned weird and can probably be put down to the magic that permanently altered all of us when Atlantis was sinking doing weird shark-shit without finesse since the stress was on survival over what would be a better physical result. And if I’m being blunt, I’m practically a gods-damned twig by atlantean standards.)

So, to finally get to your questions directly:

Is there a stigma to fuller figures in Atlantis like there is on the surface? Pfffft NOPE. (If you’re too damned skinny though, people are going to worry about you freezing to death or wonder if you’re eating enough.)

What’s my opinion on them? I’ve seen plenty of bigger people who I think are incredibly hot, but I’ve already got all the partners I can handle. (And I reiterate, I’m a damned TWIG.)

(And in case you were curious, yes the surface’s whole thing with being obsessed with skinniness– skinniness? being skinny? whatever english is WEIRD– is still freaking bizarre to me.)

okay, I know your reblog for this was for power rangers, but I have read some of your work and was kinda wondering about your version of the young justice Tim/La'gaan for the Sexy ABCs (so please?) L, Y, C, H, E, T?

Well, this was a surprise to get in my box. Not a bad surprise just...I think it's been years? But...sure.

Lingerie:

Truth be honest, truth be told, Tim is actually of the mind that La'gaan could look good in just about anything he wears or ever might wear; even that hideous Hawaiian shirt he often wore around the base while he was still dating Miss Martian. La'gaan is just naturally sexy.

La'gaan once wandered into Gotham's East End to meet Tim at Jason's apartment after a mission that was especially exhausting for the Robin and Jason wasn't willing to let him try and head back to the Batcave on his motorcycle; Tim was totally asleep on the couch wearing Jason's oversized red sweats and a grey-purple hoodie he'd nicked from Stephanie when she'd been in a hurry for a date with Klarion. It made him look tiny and soft and not at all like someone who knew a hundred different ways to fuck everyone up without killing them.

Yucky:

Both of them are actually rather vanilla when it comes to their sexual endeavors.

La'gaan has had a lot of sex under the sea (a necessity coming from the Trench) with a lot of different people. Honestly, the only thing he doesn't like has to do with anyone feeling entitled to his body and pushing him into things too fast.

Tim also grew up on the streets and has had a lot of sex with people (though his activities had more to do with survival than just feeling better about himself), but really, his squick is fully about calling someone or being called, at any point, "Daddy". It makes his skin crawl.

Condoms: La'gaan spent half of his life being totally and completely unaware that there was any type of form of protection necessary in the act of sex. Atlantians don't have those problems, so when he started dating M'gann and had to be put through an education course because Black Canary (rightfully) did not trust them to know any better, he was...a little afraid to have sex with humans. So he has tried out quite a few different versions of the condom, preferring the lambskin type to every other one, being entirely natural and working very well with his biology. Also they smell nice?

Living the life he did before Bruce took him in, Tim learned everything about sex a little early from street girls who sometimes kept an eye on him when his dad left him alone to his own devices and then finally when he got himself killed and Tim had to find a way to eat somehow. He is very aware of all forms of contraceptives and, being paranoid about how honest people are even after all his time with the team, insists upon wearing a condom or his partner wearing a condom. If they run out, then there will be an immediate trip to the store. He does not care how many times he's been tested and they've been tested, he will not do it without a sheath. (He's not picky, but he finds the flavored condoms to be disgusting, the ribbed condoms to be tedious and pointless, and mostly just prefers basic latex with maybe a little warming lube.)

Humor:

La'gaan used to be full of self-deprecating jokes and snide commentary about what he was doing in the bedroom, but he find that it made Tim sad, so he tries not to devolve into using humor like that as a defense mechanism anymore. Though when he makes a silly face when crossing the finish line into an orgasm, Tim seems to find it incredibly endearing. It seemed his 'O' face was wide enough to show all of his sharp teeth like a yawning lion and Tim could not help being brought to touch La'gaan's lower canine with a giggle. It sometimes totally killed the mood, but they did have a good laugh the one time Tim touched both canines using his pointer and pinky finger like he was rocking out. La'gaan thought it was so ridiculous that it's now one of his favorite memories.

Experimenting:

There...really wasn't a choice in the matter when they got together. True, both of them had watched porn and been involved with things that were really not appropriate when they were younger, but the theory and the fantasy is a damn sight different thing than the truth of the matter.

Going slow and asking questions and taking their time with each other, touching gently and applying pressure and making sure some fluids weren't toxic to their partner, using protection and getting tested and finding a groove that fit; this is all the definition of experimenting.

Turn On, Turn Off:

La'gaan is finding more and more as time goes on that there is a certain kind of weird niceness when Tim started feeling safe enough around him to take off his domino, but even MORE of that feeling when he was comfortable and trusting enough to wear shirts that showed off the scars he got in captivity with the Joker and the subsequent necessary bites to his neck made in a spur of the moment. It's not quite like arousal, because pseudo-mauling scars that have mottled ebb and flow are still depressing to look at--especially when he told La'gaan what the aftermath entailed--but it was...kind of like being let in on a truth and a secret at the same time.

Himself, on the other hand, while being told over and over again that Tim didn't mind or care, cannot bring himself to remove the cover on his foot from his run in with the Purists. And any mention or subsequent mention of the mark kills any romantic mood he might have.

For Tim, he really does adore La'gaan's sharp teeth and claws, the protective spikes he has, the spell tattoos, and the fact that he could break him in half any time but won't. It's probably not a really very healthy thing to admit to anyone that grew up outside of Gotham--or even in the fancier parts, like the school he's attending (thank Bruce for small favors like invoking a scholarship for Stephanie, or Tim would never relax in that place)--but it's technically an evolutionary trait left over throughout the world to have a partner that could defend themselves and you, so he makes no apologies. Also, playing footsie is a thing he didn't see himself understanding, but since La'gaan doesn't wear shoes...

He will not say the words "Daddy" or "Sir" or "Master" in the bedroom, ever, with anyone, or anything in the femme direction thereof, either. He does not like spankings. He will not, will not, will not use consent to bondage or blindfolds or sensory play. Being together in water isn't so bad but only for a limited time only if he has to dunk his head under.

They both get it, and do their best to make each other comfortable and happy. Which is all anyone could ask for to begin with.

Oh, I keep seeing you posting devilfish, you also like blue beetle but recently I’ve seen a little jaime/eddie content which I think is a little interesting. What do you think about that?

I do appreciate the HellBeetle pairing, and I can see where they'd be really cute. There's certainly fuel enough for them.

And Eddie deserves tons of love regardless, whether he's paired with La'gaan or Jaime and Khaji Da-- because I also adore Khaji Da and personally dislike it when they're written out of things involving Jaime-- it's just that I personally prefer Devilfish over HellBeetle.

And since I'm pretty much the captain of my tiny Devilfish crackship (I'm responsible for almost all the Devilfish fics that exist 😭), I'm automatically going to come down in favor of that ship more. lol

Jaime and Eddie 10/10 are a cute ship though.

​Especially since the first episode he was in did more to develop his relationships with Tim and Jaime, but nope, he got thrown under the shipping bus. Despite his worst bit about that was being frustrated with how his girlfriend and his ex were acting about each other.
