A Look Into Taylor Swift's 'Midnights':

Lavender Haze - This track kickstarts the album with this smooth and sensual vibe. Her vocals add to that as she delivers them with a moody flare. You are completely engulfed by this openers feel and it gets you excited for what’s to come. She sings about being in love and wanting to stay in the moment. She also addresses the typical questions people have about her relationship, like when the two will get married. That people either see you as a bride or a one night stand. She also highlights that her lover has the ability to shut out all the outside noise, whereas she can’t.

Maroon - Now this track gets moodier and there is this sense of intensity, that you get lost in, particularly in the wordy chorus. It seems like she is singing about a love that once was, as in the first verse she talks about being in love, and in the second verse shifts to them drifting apart. The chorus highlights Taylor’s songwriting talent, as she uses shades of red to describe emotions, gestures and objects that were involved in the romance. This one performed live will surely provide for quite the exhilarating moment. The production gives it this darker edge and adds to the tracks moody feel. Her vocals also play a role in the feel of the track as she delivers them with a fierce touch.

Anti-Hero - On this one you are immediately taken by it with its catchy bass driven instrumental. It makes you feel as though you are in your head. Which is fitting as she sings about her insecurities and things that she seems to struggle with. That no matter how hard she tries to avoid them, they still find a way to creep up on her. The chorus sticks in your mind from the very first listen and the second verse may throw you off. As that opening line had many confused as to its significance, however it is a reference that points to how you are seen as you age particularly when it comes to women. A perfect decision by Taylor to have this serve as the lead.

Snow On The Beach (Ft. Lana Del Rey) - We move onto this one which was one of the most anticipated tracks since it was announced to have Lana Del Rey feature. This light and dreamy moment is about both parties in a relationship being on the same page at the same time. The bridge has a rhyming moment in which there is a line where she references Janet Jackson. Now Lana doesn’t have her own verse on the track, which did disappoint those who were excited for it more because of her being featured. However the use of her voice threaded through the track, but more prominently in the chorus is perfectly done and elevates the dreamy feel, making you feel like you are floating. The title, sound and vocal style lean more towards Lana’s musical style. The track in fact wouldn’t have flowed so well if Lana was given a verse all to herself. It’s one of the highlights on the album especially since it is the most cinematic moment.

You’re On Your Own, Kid - Now we get to track five which is always a moment on her albums fans anticipate. This one has an intense feel due to its production that makes you feel on edge a little. You get lost in the journey she is taking you on here, as she states that in the end even though you have hopes for people to show up for you, the only one who’ll be there in the end with certainty is you yourself. It is a sombre moment that leaves you feeling emotional and lost in thought. The bridge leading into the final chorus adds to the intense feel and makes you want to scream the lyrics alongside it. Then the ‘Aaaah’s’ just as the song comes to an end lighten the feel for a slight moment, before she brings it back up to close with.

Midnight Rain - A pitched-down vocal provides with a surprising start that catches your attention, which also features in the chorus. The verses have this sultry feel due to the vocal delivery of the lyrics. The song is about two people who are on opposite ends, one wants to settle down, whilst the other isn’t ready yet and wants to focus on their career. Thus at the end of the track the relationship doesn’t work and they go their separate ways. You feel as though the track has filled the space around you and are mesmerised by it. However when it comes to an end, it feels as though it didn’t last long enough. Maybe the duration of the track hints at how short-lived the relationship was.

Question…? - On this moody track Taylor sounds a little bitter over the guy moving on. She looks over her relationship and picks apart moments from it, that she then wonders if the new couple are recreating. She hopes that those moments aren’t as great for them as they were for her and her ex. The vocal delivery and production make it seem as though she is grilling the person to whom the questions are posed. Then during the bridge she seems to be toying with him. On most part the production stays tamed behind her vocal, but then picks up for the chorus. The vocoder vocals in the bridge that then lead into the final chorus where she tweaks it a little, for example adding a crowd cheering after ‘But fifteen seconds later, they were clapping too?’, lift the track. She closes with ‘It’s just a question’ making it seem as though she’s not bothered.

Vigilante Shit - Taylor gets right into it with the opening line ‘Draw the cat eye sharp enough to kill a man’ making you want to buckle your seatbelt for this fierce moment. The subject matter is dark as she seeks to get revenge on her lover. The slick production draws from what you’d expect from Billie Eilish and Taylor manages to pull it off really well. The switch in her vocal style in the bridge gives it a theatrical edge.

Bejeweled - Here she brightens the mood with this sassy and glittery track, which is an instant catch on. It feels grand through its production and theatrical tone. On this one you feel her confidence in her worth, as she knows she’ll be able to make her surroundings light up as she walks in. The lyric ‘I can reclaim the land’ is an interesting one and showcases her rising back up after her lows, adding to the confidence depicted throughout the song. This one in a way provides the opposite take to what she put forward on ‘Mirrorball’ from her album Folklore. Where she wasn’t fully sure of herself and thus she was doing everything possible to draw the attention of who she was seeking, whereas on here she knows that she’s enough to be the one that catches your eye. Though this is a more lighter moment, it doesn’t stray too far from the feel of the album.

Labyrinth - On this ethereal and dreamy track she sings about her unexpectedly falling in love again after just leaving her previous relationship. She feels anxious and excited at the same time. She depicts her conflicted feelings so well through the lyrics, particularly when she sings ‘Oh I’m falling in love, Oh no I’m falling in love again’. The production itself is intriguing and really pulls your attention. You feel the track engulf you in its trance and the bridge captivates you, with the track leaving you feeling as the you’ve woken from a dream as it closes.

Karma - This upbeat track you find yourself fully devoted to, due to it featuring the most catchiest hook on the album. Here she sings about how karma has been there for her. She’s avoided getting her hands dirty due to it doing its thing. This one will surely find its way to the club. Taylor delivers the lyrics vocally with a sassy edge and then brings the track to an end with a moody vocal.

Sweet Nothing - Now she slows it down with this cosy and warm feeling track. The light production, her airy and gentle vocals all add to that feel. There is a hint of Sufjan Stevens vibe, although it doesn’t seem like the influence was intentional here. A beautiful moment on the record, which serves as a double entendre. As it focus on her relationship that seems to be the most calm aspect of her life, in comparisons to her career that seems hectic.

Mastermind - We reach the closing track on the standard edition of the album. She leaves you on a thought provoking moment as to whether everything that’s occurred in her life was a calculated happenstance. It plays to people saying that she plans every detail of her life. The production is fairly subtle on this one and there is this feeling of being on edge. In the bridge you really feel the sadness in her voice as she mentions the root of where it all stemmed from.

I still have one req to do but im tired as hell, so i'll probably go sleep now and write it after i wake up!

His eyes trailed your figure as you hurried into his driver’s room. Wait, that was his jacket? Lando still had time before qualifying, so he went to inquire.

The racetrack was vivid, people chatting, motors roaring and interviewers scrambling for crumbs they could feed to the media. Though the only thing that was on his mind; why were you in such a hurry? Was everything ok? Were you injured?

His thoughts raced through his head like the 300 km/h Mclaren he’ll be driving soon. Though the loud thoughts stopped as he turned the handle and saw you sitting inside the room, huddled up in his jacket and an additional blanket that you got from God knows where.

“Are you alright baby?”, his voice was full of worry and his ciel bleu eyes searched your face for any discomfort. You reached out your hands towards him, motioning him to take them in his own. A light gasp left him as your freezing cold fingers touched his big warm hands. “You’re cold?”, humming lightly you sunk even deeper into the pile of fabric you had buried yourself in. The silence after was cut short as the door burst open again. Oscars sweet eyes gazed at you and Lando. “Is everything alright?”, it was almost comical how his worried expression resembled Lando’s from before. He entered the room, sitting down next to you and wrapping an arm around your shoulder. “He’s cold.” Lando mumbled while leaning against the wall.

“Wait, you can wear my jacket over Landos, it’s a bit bigger.”, he carefully pulled you to your feet and wrapped his Papaya jacket around you, pulling up the hood and giving you a small kiss on the nose. Lando had now made his way behind you and snuck his arms around your waist. Oscar smiled before embracing Lando in a sweet kiss, one hand on your waist, the other on the back of Lando’s neck.

The aussie risked a quick look at the wallclock, widening his eyes lightly. “Lan, we should get going.” Lando still had his arms around you, resting his body against your figure. “Are you feeling warm enough to come outside and watch?”, you indeed did.

The jackets helped warm you up and you also wouldn’t complain about being close to your walking-radiator boyfriends.

I want to learn how to make edits because I have a list of Lana del Rey songs for every couple that I ship on the mxtx universe (and also for characters alone) but I don’t even know how to start… 🫠🫠

(I already edited before but only some silly things 😭😭)

List of the couples here if anyone is interested:

- HuaLian: Young and Beautiful (Classic, romantic, them)

-Wangxian: Summetime sadness (pls don’t kill me)

-Bingqiu: ArtDeco (like… the vibe?? Just-)

-Moshang: Playing Dangerous (For me, Sqh flirting is something like this -when he’s not afraid ofc)

-Beefleaf: Freak (trust meeee)

-YinZhen: Sad Girl (I’m not afraid to speak the word!!)

-XueXiao: Dark Paradise (Literally died for then, my Roman Empire)

-YueJiu: Cinnamon Girl (the definition of deserved better)

-FengQing: Diet Mountain Dew (THEM. JUST THEM.)

-Bingjiu: Ultraviolence (Got the hots for them but they also deserved better, to god -mxtx- they weren’t her favorite at all lol)

-JunMei: Fishtail (“this is an work of art” seriously, the “You’ll braid my hair” is literally how I envision them in the future, healing, together)

-Niecest: Lust for life (Like you heard that??? The “but my boyfriend’s back… and he’s cooler than ever…” - You cannot convince me otherwise it isn’t them!!!!)

List for the characters:

Binghe: Jealous girl (he was the easiest one for me and I don’t have to explain myself… BE AGGRESSIVE BE- )

Hua Cheng: Cherry (It just reminds me of him!! He really does fall to pieces many times on the story, literally, psychologically and emotionally, in good and bad ways…)

Lan Wangji: Serial killer/Happiness is a butterfly (Suprised for the first one?? Well, for me it’s about the intensity in his love, the type of doing anything and everything for the one he loves… I swear he’s just so dramatic and its just captures his teen phase of ‘first love and I don’t know what to do about it so I’ll just fantasy’ About the second… His time with his love in the first live was short and not completely well lived with so much problems and yet, and yet… he found happiness, also the “if he’s a serial killer than what’s the worst” just fits with the fact that he did in fact tried to save Wwx even against all the things others talked about him, regardless of the truth, he does what he needs to for who he needs… “Looking into his eyes I think he’s already hurt” IM SO SORRY I CANT LIE)

Shen Jiu: Born to die (like I’m not even trying to hurt anyone here but I know it hurts…)

Shen Qingqiu: Doin Time (Why?? Like, “the living is ease” vibe and the sudden “I’ve come to tell you that she’s evil” just reminds me to much of the fact that he’s the “villain”!! And I just imagined the “Louie” in the song as Sqh so much anyway)

Xie Lian: Brooklyn Baby (I don’t think I have to explain this one also right… the fans go “Yeah my boyfriend’s pretty cool… but he’s not as cool as me…” and also, “Baby I’m a gangsta too and takes two the tango” gets me thinking of two different sceneries, a dance with Hua Cheng as his flower and a dance with words representing his martial god nature)

Wei Wuxian: Salvatore (Salvatore is just him, really, the vibe of, like, even if you’re being murdered, you’re smiling and you’re smiling cause you know that, some way, you’ve just fucking won, of being on a serious situation and taking it lightly because is just his way to do things but at same time not as a mockery or a joke to all the suffering, the pain, but rather, an acceptance with a smile… oh gosh what a ride)

Mobei Jun: Black Beauty (like referring to a cold, untouchable beauty like himself, because honestly, life is beautiful but it took a while for him to see the colors but he managed to find his light, or, his “sparrow blue”…)

Shan Qinghua: Meet me at the pale moonlight (I swear, even if doesn’t make sense, for me, his “pale moonlight” is Mobei Jun… but seriously?? The “I’m the sweetest girl in town so why are you so mean?” part FR FR WTH that’s his life you’re singing about Lana)

Xue Yang: Blue Jeans (“Love’s mean… and love hurts” to “I’ll love till the end of times… I’ll wait a million years” is honestly just what he did and also that slightly possessive part “promise you’ll remember that you’re mine” inspired by his insecurities and regrets, only because he was afraid to lose him… couldn’t get any sadder)

Xiao Xingchen: Margaret (In another word yes, yes it could get sadder… He’s just so good… “It kind makes me laugh”, Ah I just keep reminding that scene where he’s with XY, laughing because he’s the easy laugh type of person… And also the “the soul that you bring to the table” I just like to interpret that in a way that he made a family out a villain and homeless distrusting girl and that the “soul” spoken off on the song it’s theirs, how they find “soul” in there, in themselves, in each other…)
