To continue with that battle of the bands! Luz post, here’s a Pip edition,

He’s obviously modeled after David Bowie in his design, I particularly took inspo from bowie’s ziggy stardust era because of the fact that the band that Nimbus, luz, Willow and him are apart of is completely inspired by after 70s glam rock musicians and bands (also the story behind Ziggy fits pretty well in specific parts to Pip but anyways)

I’m probably going to do Willow next which I’m pretty excited for

Also yes he did dye his hair for this and regretted it immensely after finding out the hair dye was permanent rather than just being temporary which is the context behind the Bowie edition of “oh, Ariana were really it now” image from the good place redraw, he eventually just makes it brown again by using a concealment stone until it fades out

Fun fact, his eye make does in fact foreshadow something that I’m currently working on properly planning it out and eventually posting it

Another fun fact, Raine was one of the judges of the battle of the bands (this is because they were the only witch ever to win single handily without another band member,Eda was supposed to be alongside them but got banned for some silly antics that snowballed heavily) so when they saw Eda who was attending to see her two favourite knuckleheads and after some high jinks of trying to avoid each the eventually get forced to talk to each other so both Raine and Eda then have to have the worlds most awkward conversation as Raine puts two and two that the kid with bright orange hair is probably Eda’s kid and the conversation would probably go along something like this:

Raine: Eda, I didn’t think I would see you here after what happened last time, did the ban get lifted?

Eda: nope, but if you see the the security around my name isn’t Eda it’s Evelyn *winks*

Raine: *laughs*

Eda: so your judging, right?

Raine; yeah… but it’s not something I personally wanted to do, I kinda got forced into it by kikimora because it’s something to do with finding the best members for the bard coven and she didn’t give me a chance to say no :/

this was produced and came out during the years she went public about losing her fucking mind, so like. everyone had to deal with it in the way they felt was appropriate. i'm not really out to judge the exact timbre of one's response so long as said response does not align with her bigotry, and i sympathize with the petty joy of belittling something owned by somone hateful, especially if that something once meant a lot to you...

i guess i'm just not super comfortable with it because a) you're still picking at a wound even if you end up making funny shapes out of the scabs, b) these hot takes are about general magic-school tropes but often are so specifically about her it feels like we're giving her credit for creating them, and c) owning her like this feels like an opiate when the real issue isn't that her fictional society is founded on 11 year olds taking one uquiz, or that the fake sport she made up is hideously unbalanced, it's that she's...the leader of hate group

(and what Lilith is good at is soothing the pain of others via self-harm! which i think is the point the Helen's-Type-Generator starts emitting confetti and oily black smoke)

is this the first instance of magic having a cost or rebound in this world? beyond "whew i did a lot of magic today, i'm tired?" hm

Going Forward

yes i liked it yes i know the second season is more heavily serialized yes i will watch that soon

this did make me think about how all seriality in TV these days seem to be about building up to one series-wide showdown as opposed to different seasons having their own mytharcs, but that has less to do with this show specific and more with the death of television as a medium and we ain't got time for that

given how much my exposure to this show beforehand was Lumity (to the point where i wasn't sure there were other characters besides Eda) i'm...kinda surprised at how sparse Amity's presence was in this season. i liked what we did see of her, but i went in expecting a lot more antagonism for a lot longer in that dynamic

but i guess that's tied in with this season not having much in the way of antagonism until the very end, and not-Hordak seems to be the only one actually invested in his whole world order. we don't have any sympathetic true believers, which I assumed would be Lilith and/or Amity? i guess neither Shadow Weaver nor Catra really gave a shit about the Horde's ideology either, but Shadow Weaver remained an unrepentant ball of spite until the end and it didn't really matter that Catra didn't give a shit about the Horde because the Horde was the only thing she knew. in contrast Amity and Lilith's ties to the existing system feel very shallow--in the latter case so much so it kind of boggles my willing suspension of disbelief?

i suppose the next season can change that, i know new characters get introduced so--

i didn't have a problem with this at first, but king being a titan... honestly takes away the entire meaning of toh.

right in the first episode, we see that king doesn't actually have a powerful crown that makes him a huge beast. he's... just a little guy. like i'm not even joking.

yes, i know the titan clues were always there, and baby king meeting eda was adorable and wholesome, but to me, king being a titan feels... contradictory? if this makes sense, it feels exactly like luz actually being the chosen one, which confirms belos' suspicions. it feels like hunter's disability being erased and that being treated like a GOOD thing (not to mention how cruel it is since they killed flapjack, and yet hunter is never seen using those powers in watching and dreaming. WHAT WAS THE REASON!!!).

what i mean is, these three characters in particular - king, luz, and hunter - are Actually Special. when we're introduced to them, they're not your average heroes. king is a small creature that starts out having no powers, acting mostly like a pet-slash-toddler. luz is a human who can't naturally do magic. hunter also cannot do magic AND he comes from the enemy side. but that doesn't make them any less valid as people. king may be comedic relief and he messes up a lot, but he is a good friend and he always helps. luz is able to figure out glyphs, teaching her own mentor and everyone else. and hunter gets his own palisman even though he doesn't have powers. caleb was his previous owner, too, and he was human! (i know evelyn gave him flapjack, but the point stands)

but by seasons 2 and 3, the show... erases all of that representation. i already mentioned luz and hunter, so king starts developing his own powers, and sure, i don't mind him figuring himself out, but him being a TITAN? seriously? how did toh mess up this badly? why did they deconstruct the fantasy world if they were just going to succumb to the same tropes?

like stardust pulled apart they enter onto the stage, dragging king in after him because here here here, and their not-heart pounds with the thrill of it all, the bit of golden stringy stardust they twirl around themself, and they have everything, all the stories king’s told them, and there letting go of them they pounce with their chest puffed out.

king pants, slumping. “collector,” he says, waving a paw their way, “can we—stop? for like, one second, i just…i need to catch my breath.”

“but we’re playing owl house!” they clap their hands together with a smushing of sparking stardust, bits of it fizzing and jerking away from king, who is mostly boring, all his stardust. like drab boring limp patterns. “you promised.”

“one second,” king repeats, and they narrow their eyes with a huff, crossing their arms. there’s so much here! so many stories like something fizzing in their chest and king did them all when that stupid fibber luz was with him but they’re here now! better ‘n them and they wanna play, want to grab stardust and send it spiraling all over the world until everything sparks shines shimmers.

“fine,” they bite out, as king clutches his faintly golden rabbit françois to his chest, “but you gotta play it good this time.”

collector sketch! this would be early for the future, which. is what im writing next! but yeah, as it stands now--oh the collector has a LOT of feelings right now, and has a lot of Thoughts on stardust (i wonder what that could be?) and the world they've been left.

you might've noticed it but the collector in this au actually has a bit of history with luz and co before getting freed--one of the big changes i made is that the collector is introduced a LOT early bc hes my favorite lol so the kids come across him on titan trapper island! and he joins the crew for a bit.

yes this is one more thing luz blames herself for going wrong. anyway!

the collector is just SUCH a fun character to write, truly. he's trying to understand a world that just does not operate how he thinks it should and hes only had belos for company for so long, and everyone he thinks is his friend is just trying to use him. it does a LOT to a kid, okay.

She added as she walked out of the room and slammed the door shut, i let out a long sigh and flopped down on the bed as i repeated the last scenes of my dream, excluding when Luz tried to wake me up of course, and it was like a memory i had when me and my friend y/n went to the carnival, but I'm guessing my mind just switched on what actually happened, but why did it do that? Why do i blush every time i think about them? Why-

"HUNTER!" Mrs Noceda yelled

"COMING!" I yelled back as i jumped from my matrice and flew out of the door to the dining room, as flapjack quickly followed me

Throughout the whole week that dream kept repeating over and over in my dreams, as well as some of the other memory's i had with her that were also flipped and changed around, and every time i think about them i feel weak in the knee's, and the only logical way, at least for me, was to ask for help, so i went to Gus, probably not my best option but everyone else was out grocery shopping so he was my only hope

"hey Gus?" I said as i entered the bedroom that all of us were sharing

"hey hunter!" He said enthusiasticly as he paused whatever he was watching and turned to me

"what do you need?" He asked, i sighed and sat down next to him

"I'm having confusing feelings." I said, looking down at the floor

"well, umm, if you want me to help you can explain those feelings?" He said, well more like questioned, i nodded

"well umm, there's this friend that i had back at the Boiling Isles, before even we caught the owl lady for the first time and their name was y/n, and recently I've been thinking more and more about them, like having these strange dreams with us almost kissing at the end of them or something like that, and every time they cross my mind my knees feel weak, heat rises to my cheeks and i feel like i want to throw up butterfly's, and when the thought of them getting hurt from the collector, or anyone for that matter, i feel sad and weak, the thought of anything happening to them makes me want to murder the person or thing that did anything to them, even if the witch, monster or thing is ten times stronger than me, i-i just want to give them everything i have, but i feel like that still won't be enough, like if i could give them the whole world i would, and yeah that's pretty much it." I said as i finally looked at Gus, to see him in complete shock, i mean eyes wide mouth open kind of shock

"what?" I said, i then heard multiple screeches from the door, oh no

"OH MY TITAN, HUNTER YOU HAVE A CRUSH!" Amity screamed

"THIS MOMENT NEEDS TO BE SAVED!" Luz screeched as she ran in the room and took her phone that was previously playing whatever Gus was watching

"No, nonononononono, it's not like that! I don't have a crush!" I said nervously laughing as i scratched the back of my head

"well it doesn't sound like it!" Luz said as she played a recording... OF MY RANT?!?!

"You, RECORDED THIS!" i yelled at her ad i jumped up from the floor

"of course i record everything." She said shaking her phone left and right a bit before stopping

"whatever I'll just go and get some fresh air." I said as i pushed past the girls, that were swarming at the door

"don't run away from the truth!" Luz screamed as i rolled my eyes and scoffed, i got a beanie that was on the coat hanger and put it on covering my half of my ears as i went outside towards the worn down cabin, and how we all got to the human realm in the first place, i sighed and frowned as i looked back at the sad memory but quickly shook my head as kind of a sign for my head to shut up, i soon felt something light stand on my shoulder as i looked to my right to see flapjack standing there, he chirped happily as i smiled and petted him

"you always manage to cheer me up, just like y/n."

I soon saw the cabin behind the trees and i let out a sad sigh, when i arrived at the front door of the cabin i looked at it for a good minute, my mind re-imagining what happened almost a month ago, i reached for the doorknob and took a deep breath, i closed my eyes and opened the door, i waited a few seconds, already hearing flapjack chirping but i brushed it off and thought he saw a pigeon or something like that, i opened my left eye a little bit before both of my eyes opened widely in shock, it looked beautiful, all kinds of colours were splotched all around and it looked like there were some stars

"woah." I said underneath my breath, but that amazement slowly turned in to fear as i saw a figure coming in to sight, i took a step back but i forgot that it was an old cabin so i tripped on a loose peace of wood and fell just before the stairs, the figure got closer and closer and it got more familiar

"Hun€r?" A corrupted voice asked as i froze in fear, it knew my name

"Hunter?" A more clear voice called out, and my eyes went wide, not from fear, but from shock and happiness, that voice sounded like

"Y/n?" I asked as i stood up, soon the shadow started sprinting towards me and as it went through the portal the shadow quickly became a figure i could remember

"Y/N!" i screamed out of happiness as i wrapped my hands around their waist and spined them in circles, we both let out laughs and giggles of happiness, as we fell on the soft grass, laughing lightly, as soon as my laughter died down, i hugged them tightly and buried my face in to their neck

"I'm so glad you're here." I said

"me too Goldie." Y/n said as she returned the hug with equal strength, my eyes started to tear up as i started to sob, i could also hear y/n sobbing, but between the sobbing slowly started to form laughing

"god why are we so sensitive." Y/n said as they laughed, tears streaming down their face, probably from the intense happiness that they were experiencing, i mean i couldn't blame them, i was also crying, but i was as well getting snot all over their what looks to be dirty shirt

"i don't know!" I laughed along as i finally got my face out of their neck wiping the snot off of my nose

"I'm sorry that i got snot on your shirt." I said as i continued wiping my nose with my hand

"not a problem, I've been through worse for the past month or so, but don't worry tho, it wasn't that bad." they said as they brushed off the snot of themselves

We stared in to each other's eyes for a while, i couldn't take it anymore! I grabbed their chin

"consent?" I asked laughing a little, they just groaned

"c'mere you!" They said as they grabbed the back of my head and connected sour lips

It felt like fireworks were erupting everywhere as we were kissing, and i couldn't be more happier, as we pulled away i opened my eyes and looked deeply in to theirs

"wait- you cut your worm!" They yelled as they got up

"oh c'mon it was about time i cut it off!" I yelled

"but i liked the worm, i even gave it a name!" They yelled as they crossed their arms, suddenly chirps were heard next to me, and what seemed to be a sound of someone familiar talking

"y/n, i re-eat do y- copy?" A glitched out voice was heard, y/n quickly grabbed a walkie talkie "Yes i copy!" They yelled at the walkie talkie "can you hear me?" They questioned, "y-s we can, bu-t it's a bi- glitchy." The voice said, "h-ow is it there?" The voice, "it's fine but it is far to risky to sent another person through the portal, i barely ended up finding the portal to the human realm." They said, "ok-y the portal i-s closing stay in the human realm and find Lu-" before the person on the other end could finish their sentence the door to the cabin slammed shut

"who was that?" I asked

"Eda, we were on a mission to get all of you back and find a way to create a new key for the portal we have created but it took me way to long to find the human realm and now we're stuck here again, and it's all my fault." Y/n said as they started to tear up

"nonononononono, wait- don't cry, were gonna find a way to get to the other realm, i mean you already found a way! It's just gonna get faster from here." I said as i hugged them from behind, we stayed like that for a few minutes until a question popped up in my head

"say... How'd you get the titans blood anyway?" "I'd rather not go in to detail." Y/n said as she shivered

"okay? Wanna go to your new temporary home darling?" I said as i stood up and extended my hand

"oh of course my love." They said as they took my hand and we started walking towards Luz's house

"i love you Hunter." They said as they rested their head on my shoulder, still holding my hand

"I love you too y/n." I said as i interlocked our fingers and by doing that resting our hands in a more comfortable position

Okay, but like imagine when Luz finds out Hunter has a crush in Willow (most likely through Gus or Hunter accidentally telling her) and not only does she fangirl super hard like us, she also gets him into shojou/ romance novels to help him understand his feelings (and drive him into info overload)

Luz: woah, what’s going on with you?

Hunter: that’s the thing! I don’t know what’s going on! Recently, my face has been feeling hot, my stomach feels weird and it happens whenever I’m around Willow. I thought she cursed me but according to Gus, I have this thing called a crush? Hhhhh this is all so confusing!!

Luz: …….did you just say…..a crush?! *eyes lit up with glee and face growing into a wide smile* A CRUSH?! ON WILLOW?!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Luz starts fangirling, screaming, crying, and jumping with joy as Hunter looks at her with concern and borderline scared.

Hunter: uhhhh, is this a good thing?

Luz: OH HUNTER THIS IS GREAT THING!!! YOU! WILLOW! TOGETHER! AHHHH!!!!

Hunter: okay you can stop screaming in my ears!

Luz: Hey! Don’t go angsty on me! Not trying to have another rain x eda angst moment! Willow is the sweetest and bestest girl I’ve ever met and even though you’re a grumpy boi, you’re a good guy and she knows that too, that’s all that matters.

Hunter’s face softens a bit as Luz lets go.

Hunter: I suppose you’re right….I’m still new to this crush thing and although it feels weird, I oddly like this feeling, especially when it’s for Willow. Not only is she kind, she’s very smart, brave and strong…she can defeat Terra and really pretty, but when she smiles, especially after our first victory, I swear she looks even more beautiful….*more sweet blushing and wobbly smile*

Luz (happy crying from the sweetness): oh my titan……that’s the sweetest *ugly sniff* most wholesome thing *ugly sniff* someone has ever said *more ugly sniff* I can’t believe I’m witnessing a fluff with light angst shipfic right before my eyes. My shipper heart is being fed!

Hunter (embarrassed blushing): I don’t know what those mean, but please don’t tell anyone about this, especially to Willow and your “gf.” It’s bad enough that you and Gus know…..

Luz: AWWWWW fine, but just letting you know, Amity is also a smart witch, she’ll probably figure it out sooner or later 😏 but in the meantime.

Big Sister

After the Gland Prix, Luz is planning on staying up late working on magic, but King wants to have a talk with her. Luz may not be an official Clawthorne like him, but she still feels like family. (The first time Luz and King start calling each other brother and sister).

Heading home from the Gland Prix, Eda carried a worn-out King in her arms, while Luz looked happily between each of their faces. Eda had always harbored a soft, motherly side, but now she looked at King with open, unrestrained affection, in a way Luz had only seen her engage in nervously before, as if she weren’t allowed to and it was about to get taken away.

And King, blinking sleepily, snuggled into her arms. Luz could have squealed with joy over it, but she tried to hold it in.

Apparently, she wasn’t too successful, as Eda happened to catch her eye. “What are you thinking about, kid?”

“Oh I’m just really happy to see you’re officially King’s mom.”

Eda startled at the term. “Mom…”

“That’s right,” King cut in, apparently not as sleepy as they had thought. “You’re my mom. And Lilith’s my aunt, and your mom is my grandma!” He giggled. “I have a whole family tree now. Can you teach me about it?”

“Later, kid, but let’s get you to bed. You’re all worn out.” Eda rubbed King’s skull and he groaned.

“I’m not that tired.”

“Yes you are.”

“If I go to bed, Luz has to!”

“Oh don’t worry, I’m making her rest too.”

Luz had been planning to work on her magic, like she had been doing almost every night of late. “Oh, actually, Eda, I’m really onto something with this new spell I’m working on, and -”

“I’ll hear about it tomorrow. You’re exhausted from all that flying.” Eda’s smile slipped a bit. “And I’m tired too.”

After Eda tucked King into bed, Luz reluctantly pulled on pajamas and went to brush her teeth. She had so much to get done, and her brain wouldn’t stop turning over all the new magic she was learning. If she wanted, she could easily stay up tonight and perfect some of her designs, right? But Eda would be disappointed…

Returning to her room, she was already set on working just a bit more, when she heard a distressed “Weh!” coming from the corner.

“King?”

He was struggling, tangled up in something. As Luz rushed to assist him, it became clear that he was caught in her cat hoodie, the fabric falling all around him and caught on his horns.

“Oh my Titan, King!” The sight of the little demon in such an oversized garment was too adorable to even speak, and she squealed, quickly pulling out her phone and snapping pictures.

“Luz, what are you doing? Help me out!”

“Sorry!” she squeaked, and in a moment she had freed his head, which in many ways made him even cuter, his confused, disgruntled face blinking up at her while his body remained lost in fabric. She almost drew her phone out again, but stopped at the glare he gave her.

“Jeez, you really like to take photos of my suffering, huh?”

“Sorry! Are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” He shook out his fur and picked at his claws like a cat acting nonchalant after an embarrassment.

“How did you get stuck in there anyway?”

“I don’t know, it, uh, fell on me?”

“I just threw it on the floor.”

“Ugh, fine. I was trying it on.”

“And here I thought I remembered someone calling this ‘hideous’ when he first saw it.”

“It is hideous!”

“Then why did you try it on?”

“It was only for a second! I just wanted to see what it was like.”

That was surprising; King was typically against much clothing unless it was part of some gift like his “offerings.” “What wearing clothes is like? I’m sure we can get you some if you want to start wearing them.”

“No! Never!” He crossed his arms. “I just wanted to see what wearing the hoodie was like.”

“Why this hoodie?”

“Well…” He ducked his head. “I don’t know. I was wondering if it had some kind of magic to it, because you always seem so confident in it.”

Luz could have laughed. King thought she was confident. “Aww, King. You know I’m not actually all that confident.”

“Yes you are! You have so many friends and cool adventures. And I’m…” He tapped his claws together nervously. “I don’t really have that. I’m the one that messed up the Gland Prix. I wish I could do the stuff you do.”

“King, it’s okay you threw up. Do you know how many times I mess stuff up? I’m way more trouble for Eda than you are.”

King looked at her in confusion, then moved on in his speech. “And also I’m kind of scared of everything that’s going on. And you, you’re still so fearless. And I wanted to know how you get through it.”

Luz sat next to him. “I don’t know. I take it as it comes, you know? It’s not the hoodie that makes me able to do that. It’s not even me, it’s my friends that make it happen. And you and Eda.”

“We’re not your friends too?”

“No, you are! It’s just different, you know? We have a different sort of friendship from the one I have with Willow or Gus or Amity.”

“Because I’m younger?”

“Well, yeah, but also, you’re…I don’t know. It’s just different. In a good way.”

“Okay…” He sighed. He didn't often open up about his insecurities, though he was doing it more frequently of late. “It’s just, I love all these new powers I’m discovering, but also I don’t really know what they mean or what’s going on. And what if things get even weirder, and I start being unrecognizable?” His tail swished nervously. “I really want to find my family, and have answers. But I also really don’t want to lose the family I have. The family I just found. And, as much as I want to find my dad and be like him, I also want to be like Eda. My mom. And I want to be like you, Luz.”

Luz froze, her eyes rapidly tearing up, and King held up his paw. “Don’t be too mushy about it. It was a dumb idea.”

“No it’s not! I…I honestly don’t know what to say.”

King wanted to be like her? Of course she’d noticed his clinginess, and his delight whenever they did an activity together. He thought she was cool, that was certain. But he had never directly stated that he looked up to her. The idea of anyone looking up to her was ridiculous, but King said it with complete honesty.

“So that’s also why you tried on the hoodie?”

“Yeah…”

“You’re perfect the way you are, King. You don’t need to be like me!”

“No, I don’t want to be exactly like you. Trust me, I know I’m perfect. I just…well actually…” He hesitated. “I was wondering something.”

“Yeah?”

“You know how Eda’s my mom and Lilith’s my aunt and there’s Grandma Gwen now and everybody?” His tail wagged as he rattled off the family terms.

“Yeah, you have such a big family!”

“Well I know you’re not really a Clawthorne, but, um…we’re kind of family too, right? You live with us and Eda gets all motherly about both of us, and you always help me with things. You said Eda and I are different from your other friends.”

Luz tried to stop the beginnings of tears in her eyes, to not turn King away. “Yeah. I think of you that way.”

“Well for a while now I kind of thought of you as my big sister. Is that okay?”

Big sister. King saw her as a big sister. Luz gave up on holding back the tears. “Yeah,” she said shakily. “I’d really like that.”

King brightened. “Ha! That means I get to tattle on you to Eda and you’re the one that’ll get in trouble!”

Luz chuckled, wiping her tears. “Okay.”

He got to his feet, pointing at her for emphasis. “And you have to take responsibility for all my shenanigans.”

“You know what, if it means being a sister to such a cool guy, I’ll take it. I’m really proud that you’re my little brother.”

King’s eyes widened, arm dropping back to his side. “Really?”

“Heck yeah! I always asked for a younger sibling when I was a kid, and at one point I thought...”

The tentative plans to have another child, talks with Luz about what a little sibling would mean, someone to care for and help out, someone to pass down stuff she outgrew to, and squabble with, and be annoyed at, and love. Excited daydreams about all the stuff they could do together, the things she could show them. Until the news of her dad’s illness, and the plans were postponed until he got better. Only he didn’t, and eventually…

“Well, here you are!” Luz said, pushing the thoughts aside with a smile. “And hey.” She picked up the hoodie, giving it a tentative sniff and wincing. “Oof, this needs to be washed. But, what I was going to say is, did you know it’s a common thing for older siblings to give the younger ones hand-me-downs?”

“Hand-me-downs?”

“Yeah! So when the older one outgrows something, they might give it to the little one.”

“Oh. Hmm.” King tapped his claws against his face. “Like clothes?”

“Sometimes!” King looked back at the hoodie eagerly, and Luz smiled. “Maybe one day you’ll fit in it. We have no idea how big or small you’ll get.”

“I’ll be huge! Mightier than the mightiest giant!”

“Okay, well, I think you’ll always be pretty tiny. But you’re bound to get bigger than you are right now. And either way, when I outgrow this you can have it, okay? Even if it’s forever big on you.”

“Really? You’ll keep it ready? Promise?”

“Promise.” She reached out and rubbed his skull as if to ruffle non-existent hair. King giggled and leaped into her arms, clutching her shirt while she gave him a tight squeeze. They held the hug for a few moments until Luz had a devious idea. “Now, can I please post the photos I took of you on Penstagram?”

King immediately shoved away. “Ugh never mind, I don’t want anything to do with you!”

“Just one?”

“No! You’re a horrible monster!” He ran to the door, signaling the end of their conversation. He paused before leaving, to say, “But goodnight.”

“Goodnight,” Luz grinned, then got up to pull out her supplies and get to work on her magic. Her brain was now aching for sleep, but if she could just work for thirty minutes, she was sure she could get so much done.

King didn’t leave as expected. “Uhhh Luz? Aren’t we going to sleep?”

“Oh, I was just going to work on some magic for a bit. I have a lot to get done.” She tried to suppress her yawn and give him a reassuring thumbs up.

“As your brother, I demand you sleep.”

Luz raised her eyebrows. “You’re the little sibling, buddy. You’re supposed to listen to me.”

“I demand it.”

Luz hesitated. He had the fierce, demanding tone of a petulant child, but beneath it was a softness and concern she wasn’t used to from him. She was surprised he had even noticed; usually he’d leave without a second thought, or even demand she stay up longer, regardless of exhaustion.

“Okay. I can’t promise I’ll be able to fall asleep, but I’ll try.”

“Excellent!” King wagged his tail. “Goodnight big sis!”

“Goodnight little bro.”

Literal Perfection Chapter 5

What's this??? AN UPDATE????

that's right folks I'm back on my bullshit, enjoy this short Hunter based chapter while I prepare for chapter 6, which takes place at the same time as this one ;)))

Hunter wasn't stupid.

Okay, maybe he was a little stupid, but he wasn't stupid enough to not see that Darius was definitely into his new assistant.

And, honestly? Hunter didn't blame him; they're nice, funny, hardworking, competent and actually seems to care about their job, which is a huge improvement from Darius' last assistant.

However, despite how painfully obvious it was that he liked them, Darius had yet to ask his assistant out. So Hunter decided to take things into his own hands.

So he made a plan, and by the Titan was it gonna work.... hopefully.

But he couldn't set the plan into action by himself, no, he needed back up and he knew just who to call.

"I'll be back later today, Hunter", Darius called from the front door as he left for work, "Don't blow anything up, don't set anything on fire, no flying in the house, just, don't be an idiot whilst I'm gone, okay?"

"I've got it!", the ex golden guard yelled back.

The sound of the door shutting echoed through the empty cottage and Hunter waited a few moments before he was sure that Darius was gone and grabbed his scroll.

It was time to begin phase 1; planning.

Emerald Entrails

Hunter: uRget!!!!!!! Come 2 mY H0sE.... Tell n0one T0p secret!!!!

It took the emerald entrails, Luz and Amity twenty minutes to get to the cottage, a bit too long for Hunter's liking but he could make it work.

"Alright", Hunter said as the group sat down in the sitting room, "I have gathered you all here today to embark on a mission of great importance, this is a mission of life or death, are you willing to help me with this?"

A chorus of 'yes!'s, some more excited than others, rang out.

"Awesome! You're mission is this", Hunter pulled a white board covered in paper over and dramatically ripped off a piece of paper off the board revealing the plan. A picture of you was stuck in the middle, "This", Hunter continued, "is Darius' new assistant." He pointed at you.

"Now, Darius likes his assistant and I mean likes them as more than his assistant."

"Wait!" Luz yelled, standing up excitedly, "Is our mission to play matchmaker with Darius and his assistant?!"

Hunter snapped his fingers at her, "Exactly! The plan is simple; 1. we slowly get Darius to start giving them gifts, something they like, small things at first, then they'll get bigger as it goes, 2. We get them as close as possible, that way they'll associate eachother with good things, like animals, and finally 3. Romance."

Everyone bar Amity cheered as Amity raised her hand, "Sorry just feel like I should point out that Darius' assistant is my auncle."

"Thats even better!" Gus exclaimed, "That way you can convince them to ask out Darius!"

Amity thought for a moment and then shrugged, "sure, what's the worse that could happen?"

The next day the plan was set into motion.

It began with Hunter lying on his dad's bed watching as he picked out a cloak.

"You know, I think your assistant would like that cloak, the purple one."

Darius held up the aforementioned cloak and hummed in thought, "Do you think so? Well I never where it anyone, I'm sure it would look good on them."

Amity had also made some progress on her half.

"You know, you and Headwitch Darius would make a really cute couple."

You sputtered indignantly for a few seconds, a light blush in your cheeks, "Really? Well, I don't know, maybe."

After a few more weeks of this, the group met up at the entrance of Hexside, Hunter and Amity sighed in disappointment.

"I'm gonna guess the plan didn't work?", Viney asked, watching as the two sunk to the ground.

"Yeah, I don't think it did." Amity groaned, her attempts to convince you of how cute you and Darius would be together didn't seem to go anywhere, just you laughing or waving her off.

"I'm honestly starting to think that Darius never liked them like that to begin with." Hunter sighed dejectedly, running a hand through his hair.

"Well at least you tried? I mean it could've gone worse." Willow supplied sitting next to her friends, the rest of the group nodded in agreement and Hunter and Amity couldn't help but agree.

"Yeah, they could've ended up hating eachother, I think its better they stayed friends", Gus said and hopped down the steps, "Well I gotta go now, see you all tomorrow!"

They all broke off one by one until Hunter and Amity remained, Hunter walking to the Abominations Coven and Amity to Blight Manor.

"I feel like this could've worked!", Amity muttered, "I mean they definitely seemed in love? Maybe we didn't try hard enough?"

Hunter shook his head, "No, I think Gus is right, if we pushed them too hard then they might have ended up hating eachother, it's best if they stay as friends."

The two walked in silence until Amity, split and began walking a different direction.

Hunter spent the rest of his walk to the Coven lost in his thoughts, he looked over his supposedly foolproof plan again in his mind. He reached the Abominations Coven still in his thoughts and walked to his dad's office.

He walked into the office without knocking and stopped dead in his tracks.

"Oh sweet Titan!"

"Hunter! Get out!"

The door was slammed shut with a blob of abomination as Hunter stood there with a look of horror on his face.

He wordlessly took his scroll out of this pockets and sat down on the floor.

He opened the groupchat and started typing.

Oh my titan. WHERE TO EVEN START??

So my favorite character is probably either Amity or Luz. Mostly Amity but I kin Luz and ship Lumity so fucking hard like UGH I LOVE THEM.

BUT LIKE WHY DO I LOVE HER, right??

Me as a person just resonates with Amity a lot. Even though I found the show as I was 17 going on 18 and not at all in the same age range as her. When I first saw the show back during 2020 in the pandemic; I'd seen an Instagram edit. My entire feed was blowing up about this show. Like "Oh my god these two characters are really hinted at being gay!!" Because Enchanting Grom Fright literally was such a big thing, and even though I had no idea what this show would become; it literally was an eye-opening experience.

As I said, I was 17; but I was out as a lesbian (not nonbinary yet but a month or so later I did), and for such a long time I was struggling to find actual mf representation that fit and represented me. That's one of the reasons why I believe shows like TOH are unbelievably important to have-- because that representation can literally save people's lives. Anyway... Finding out that Amity was cannonly a lesbian (or was suspected to be subtext wise) and Luz bisexual, my entire demeanor was like "this. This is absolutely the content I needed when I was younger."

And I love Amity for many reasons, not just as a representational aspect but as her character develops and grows, she starts to change over the course of the show in a way that is healthy. She's realizing how to act for herself-- something I also related to because of semi-not-so-great parents. And her making decisions for what SHE wants.

Her and Luz's relationship as well, it's so undermined as just "oh they're gay" not just that but the fact that Luz is able to show and reveal the parts about Amity as herself, and help her grow; not only as a person but into someone she wants to be?? Amazing. Their relationship is real and feels truthful. Especially when they have that miscommunication about Luz's Dad and them just talking. They aren't perfect, but they communicate, and they do their best to be there for one another.

And not only that but Amity being so worried about not being a good girlfriend for Luz because she cares a lot. Just feeling insecure, but like Luz being her; she doesn't care!! She likes Amity as she is, and she doesn't even think twice if she's "good enough" or not because to Luz, she always is. In combination of that thought too it's like, Amity being afraid of rejection because she feels that Luz can see her for who she truly is despite what guard she projects and holds up from and on the behalf of her family name from the earlier of S1. Just the whole part where Amity over the course of the story changes and is actively flawed in ways that doesn't constitute for dismissing that previous growth that Luz helped with.

She is flawed but she is herself.

Also, not to even cover her designs throughout the show, I absolutely love her timeskip design. The undercut?? Absolutely love. Every fit she has, she absolutely rocks. Same with Luz. They just both look so slay. The absolute power couple.

Anyway, what I'm getting at is that not only because of Amity but also as a whole with TOH (just in this case of her because she's my favorite character) that representation that Dana brought to the table with TOH was so impactful to me and like- Amity is just so cool. I love her.

Thoughts During TOH 3x03 Watching and Dreaming

Here we go. The finale. This is it.

I’m going to be honest, I didn’t record my reactions to the first half of this so some general thoughts before I continue.

So, seeing kind of King, Luz, and Eda’s worst fears be reaffirmed by the dreams was the worst, but we also got out of the actual dreams a lot quicker than I expected. It’s fine, I understand.

Raine needs to rest after all this.

We’re actually teaching the Collector about actual friendship and kindness and the permanence of death, huh.

The fact that Luz actually reassured the Collector that what they did wasn’t wrong when they tried to apply their lessons of forgiveness and kindness to Belos but it’s just the issue itself is so much more complicated than that. That kind of approach isn’t going to work on someone like Belos. I just really appreciate her letting them know that they didn’t do anything wrong.

And finally, before I continue, Luz’s “death” got me to cry. Especially when it showed Camilla crying even as a puppet like she knew! Ugh. Pain!

Okay, back to the live reacting.

aight i'm gonna just, do a fucking "my thougths" as a watch through the episode a second time because i can this is gonna be a mix of serious points, and also me gushing because i'm in love with this show and also drinking like, just a toooouch

- I feel like lowkey, the things Amity, Gus, Willow and Hunter say during Luz' nightmare, are so effective and hurtful because they could definitely be what they actually think. And on some twisted deep down super petty level, they probably are, brought to the surface by the Collector's magic.

- Luz absolutely only realized just how much a child the Collector actually was when she realized they didn't understand what Death is. The way she now only asks "do you not know what Death means to mortals?" but how she fully goes out of battle stance. She doesn't just lower Stringbean down in shock, she instantly loosens her stance and puts them by her side, she's no longer prepping for a fight, because she just realized how much her opponent is a kid

- Raine with Tousled hair is so,,,, they're so,,,, I wanna marry them so bad you have no idea

- so on first watch i thought it was like, pretty explicit that the Collector killed the Baby Titans, but on second watch it might, not be? we really don't know enough about the Collector and their family to know for sure, maybe they did take away some of the kids, maybe they didn't. Maybe it was a bit of both? Would've loved to see more, but also i think it's nice for it to be kinda open so fans can play with the idea of there being more titans out there.

- When Luz gets overtaken by the growth stuff from Belos, absolutely the Collector does realize something happened. Like yes they try to "fix her" but the question of "where'd she go?" tells that they know, right away, something's up. This isn't like when their toys break, something feels off, different, wrong. The way they cling onto that little light, the hint of genuine concern in their voice as they ask. It's not just a, just a fucking feeling of "hey wait, where'd they go?" like when your friends are hiding.

The collector can tell it's different, it's wrong, but hey! they're the Colelctor, they're all powerful! they can fix her, bring her back! but they can't And the collector realizes what they've been doing

- I love how, from the very first proper sentence the Titan speaks to Luz in Person (not the wake up one) you can tell what kid of person he is/was. Like you can tell, both from what he said and how he's dressed, how warm, kind and loving he was. Like just, I'm so sad, he didn't get to meet King in person, and when i watched it through the first time i was so sure Luz was gonna pull him back along with her to the living, but it didn't happen.

ALSO, the fucking little hooty sticking out of his eye had me going in so many ways, because like, does it mean that Hooty's species are just particularly connected to the titan? or are worms just fucking Hooty's in the Boiling Isles??? Maybe, it's even a hint of where Hooty came from, because well there IS an eye on the Boiling Isles too! like oh my god so much in so little

- "and you seems like a good witch" i saw someone mention how Luz called herself 'the good witch luz' later on, and i'll see myself in a bit no doubt as i'm watching, BUT This is definitely a moment that sticks out to her. The titan himself is calling her a good witch, after everything she's done, that he's watched her do, he thinks she's a good witch

- ALSO, a thought i had, is how much i love that they show the Titan is just, just this guy He's got a dad bod with a billy, his beard's unkept, he's wearing a Bad Girl coven t-shirt and jogging pants with a glyph pattern, AND I BET HE WOULD BE WEARING LOAFERS. Like the Titans have been propped up so much through the series, because well the Titan is a big deal.

But also, the Titans are a people who loved their kids, wanted them safe, and lounged around in old shirts and loose pants

- THE COLLECTOR FUCKING, "I don't want anyone else to go away, I don't want anyone else to go missing" and him desperately trying to stop King and Eda and brushing off the, the growth from Belos, like oh my god he really is just a child learning about loss for the first time proper, like ever

also a headcanon i am having like right now, is that the Archivists definitely did take some of titan children away, either on purpose to paint the Collector in a bad light, or simply because they wanted, either option ending in the Collector being painted in a bad light and like they just didn't care about who they hurt. Because i bet he wasn't sat down and talked to about it, it actually does make sense if he never killed any of them and they just were taken and he was the scape goat, and i just realized that thee titan mentioned he blamed the wrong person, and at that point Belos would've been SOOO far into the future it couldn't have been him he meant.

Definitely, King's siblings are archived somewhere, and the Collector was blamed for it and no one talked to him about it

- the collector rushing to help keep the Archives balanced, their body being overtaken by Growth, but he still does it because he knows it's the right thing to do and just, FUCK ME DUDE, I love him, them, little funky fella who was neglected and never taught how to play, his siblings just pushing him away because they didn't care, or maybe even used them to get the titan babies, finally realizes what it means to be kind, and good, and what to do to make friends, and does something that does not benefit him in any way instead of trying to save himself

- RAINE, WHISTLING, THE REQUIEM/RHAPSODY, MY FUCKING HEART DUDE

- The way the "NOW EAT THIS SUCKAAA" line is animated, gives me hella anime vibes, like modern day anime, Studio Trigger type stuff, fuck me it's so good

- Eda, king and Raine getting to stomp out Belos like the piece of gum he is, is so cathartic. After everything he's done, he just gets stomped out like he's nothing

- The fact that Amity so happily goes to her dad, and Odalia is just, there, and she gets nothing??? Iconic, amazing, what she deserves. I also love that Gus' dad gets to kiss his cheek, like i feel you don't get to see that enough in shows. And of course, Willow's dad's kissing on screen, ON THE LIPS IN FULL VIEW And Hunter being greeted so warmly by Darius and Eberwolfe, my heart, i care them

though I am scared for King being anywhere near there given the whole thing with the Collector... oh, next week will be INSANE
