i won't get to use this plotline a lot in the comic (probably going to be included in the bonus fanfic episodes tho) but here's lifemission!splinter and a smol leo uwu splints was hyperfocused on finding his missing boys for a good bit, especially when leo was a tot. but he didn't know anyone back then so he had to bring leo during his search a lot. they sometimes get stuck somewhere when it's snowing or raining and he kinda hates himself for putting leo up through this shit.

luckily, he met hueso at some point and hueso volunteered to look after leo because he felt bad for the both of them. eventually, splints made hueso leo's godfather and boneman can't help but melt whenever leo calls him "tio hueso" 🥺 also leo had big separation anxiety (still has in the present, just keeps it on the down low) and splints leaving always causes him to shake a lot 💔 which ties back to him starting to knit as a way to cope 💙

was this just an excuse to draw papa splints and smol tot leo? mayhaps but SSSSSHH-
