Making Happy Memories

A/N Hello lovely humans, I bring you another Luna fic (sort of), I’ve been meaning to write this for a long time and these past few days I’ve been feeling a little down, missing life before a pandemic and hugging loved ones on their birthdays but I managed to write a bit and it made me feel much, much, much better, hope you’re doing well x

P.S. With any luck I’ll finish writing Luna’s birthstory this weekend.

Pairing: Penelope Garcia x Luke Alvez

Luke and Penelope were on their way to Quantico, she had the day off and decided to drop by with some good news, she was sure they didn’t expect, Luke held her hand the whole ride, excited to finally let their friends know the family was getting bigger. Penelope was almost 17 weeks pregnant, they intended to tell everyone after the first trimester but in their excitement of getting ready and planning for the future, almost another month went by.

“Isn’t this so exciting?” He asked while leading her to the elevator.

She smiled “It is, I’m trying to control myself to not blurt it out the minute we see them”

Luke snorted “I actually wouldn’t surprised if you did”

“But I shouldn’t I prepared a surprise” Luke raised an eyebrow “What? I might or might not have prepared for yesterday’s ultrasound to pop out on the screen while we’re on the conference room” She admitted sending him a playful smirk and Luke shook his head with a smirk on his own face.

“Well, in that case, babe, resist” Once they reached their floor, Penelope didn’t see any of her adored friends and saw that the conference room was there so she sneaked in while Luke set his stuff on his desk, once everything was ready, she texted everyone to meet her there, they all knew she was coming in but had no idea what she and Luke were going to share.

After greeting and hugging everyone, Penelope couldn’t wait anymore and she started talking to everyone.

“Alright, alright, it’s not often I come to visit you guys and you know I like to keep evidence of everything, let’s take a picture” Luke couldn’t hold back his smile, he knew now exactly what his wife was planning, he was eager to see everyone’s reactions.

Penelope set her phone on the table, on the top of a bunch of case files and books she had piled on that were laying around, everyone was looking at the phone waiting for the picture to be taken, but the phone was already filming a video, and behind it there was the screen ready to show them their precious baby.

“Are you ready?” Luke said standing behind Penelope and wrapping his arms around her.

“On the count of three, you guys” Penelope announced from her spot, Spencer did the countdown for some reason and then she clicked a button and the picture of the ultrasound appeared.

Penelope squeezed Luke’s hands “We’re having a baby!” They both exclaimed, the room exploded with cheers and gasps, by the time JJ was hugging Penelope, both had tears on their eyes, much like Spencer, who couldn’t wait for his turn and joined his two best friends.

“Congratulations, kid!” Rossi grabbed Luke’s face and kissed him on both cheeks.

“I can’t wait to see you being amazing parents to the little one” Tara congratulated Penelope, who was now full on crying tears of happiness, she felt the luckiest to have them as their family and for their baby to have them, she knew their baby was going to be so loved by all of them, Derek and Aaron included.

“Man, you have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to hear you were finally making me an uncle” Matt stated while hugging Luke, both of their visions were blurry, Luke had so many questions and just so many things he wanted to talk about with him because he knew Matt would understand and give advice.

Spencer couldn’t stop staring at the screen, excited for his friends to start a new chapter in their lives “Do you already know what you’re gonna name her?”

Luke and Penelope both froze, and turned to him “What did you say?” Penelope asked with wide eyes.

“What are you gonna name her? Are you actually gonna name her Amelia like you once said while we watched Doctor Who?” He happily asked with a chuckle.

“It’s a girl?” Luke said in disbelief, they were waiting a little bit longer to find out the baby’s sex, Reid’s eyes almost popped out of his head, and his blood traveled to his face.

“Is it a girl, Spence?” H-how… Do you actually know how to read sonograms?” She felt breathless but in a good way.

Spencer swallowed as everyone saw with amusement the scene in front of them “I-I do, it’s actually…” Penelope cut him off by launching at him and wrapping his arms around him.

Then she turned to Luke and walked to him “We’re having a girl” Luke’s own tears mixed with hers as she kissed him.

“Yes! Girl power!” Emily yelled and they all cheered for the baby girl that was on her way to steal everyone’s hearts.

Since everyone was so excited by this extra surprise, there was another round of hugs, it was a moment they all wanted to cherish.

“Should I confess everything is on camera?” Penelope admitted with a laugh, grabbing her phone off the table to stop the video.

“Are you serious?” Tara started “Oh, I need to see our faces when you told us, Pen”

“And I want to see your faces again the moment Spencer spilled the beans about your baby girl” Matt added nudging Spencer in the arm.

“I’m sorry, I thought you knew” He scratched his neck, still a bit uncomfortable about everything.

“Oh, come on, Reid, that just made all of this better” Luke reassured him.

“Yeah, I couldn’t have asked for a better sex reveal party” Penelope added.

“This is a party now? We should order some breakfast, I don’t think we have any active case right now, it’s only paper work waiting to get done and it can wait an hour more” Emily suggested looking at everyone for their approvals, they all nodded and she continued “I would suggest a little bit of champagne but since Penelope can’t drink…”

“And since it’s 9:00 in the morning” JJ teased

“Yeah, that too, obviously”

“I’m buying, of course” David happily offered and they all started to see what they could order, once the food arrived, they sat at the table, just like old times, Penelope thought, she was extremely happy to see her family already celebrating the life growing inside of her.

“We could’ve had this celebration at Rossi’s backyard like we usually do with special occasions, you know?” Emily joked.

Penelope shrugged off and shook her head “Oh, it’s ok, I actually had a reason for telling you guys here,” Some of them raised their eyebrow at her “I remember the time JJ brought Henry for the first time and she said that we always see bad stuff in here here and that we needed a good memory, so I wanted to add to the happy memories”

“See, Reid? Thanks to you we now have two more happy memories in here” Matt laughed and everyone joined him, enjoying sharing the happiness Luke and Penelope were feeling upon the arrival of their new family member.

Tv Insider ha appreso che la vincitrice di un Oscar, Tatum O’Neal, ha intascato un ruolo da guest star in un prossimo episodio del Criminal Minds della CBS.

Nell’episodio, scritto da Virgil Williams, e che andrà in onda questa primavera, la O’Neal interpreta la madre di un serial killer perverso (interpretato da Aidan Bristow). Si sente in conflitto ed ha il cuore spezzato e l’Unità Analisi Comportamenta (BAU) dell’FBI lavora con lei per cercare di fermare il figlio. Il ruolo di guest star della O’Neal arriva subito dopo la notizia, rilasciata all’inizio della settimana, che l’ex di Lost, Harold Perrineau, arriverà nello show per un arco di episodi nel corso di questa stagione.

La puntata vede l’attore di Criminal Minds Adam Rodriguez esaltato, dal momento che condividerà molte scene con la O’Neal. L’attore, che si è unito al cast lo scorso autunno nel ruolo di Luke Alvez, ci ha detto venerdì mattina alla colazione degli CBS Studios durante il tour stampa invernale della Television Critics Association, che “Il caso [nell’episodio] è super dark. Praticamente si tratta di questa madre che cerca di trovarsi in sintonia con il figlio, ma lui è già troppo lontano. Del danno che è stato fatto, lui incolpa lei, e lei non poteva proteggerlo.”

Rodriguez spiega che Alvez è la chiave per provare ad avere informazioni dal personaggio della O’Neal, così da poter assicurare il figlio alla giustizia. “Sto cercando di costruire un rapporto con lei per avvicinarmi al modo di pensare del figlio e, con qualche speranza, scoprire cosa farà dopo o dove poterlo trovare,” dice. “Attraverso queste scene riusciamo ad avere una certa intimità, in termini di scambiarci informazioni e cercare di farmela amica, abbastanza da farle condividere qualcosa che lei non pensa sia rilevante ma in realtà lo è.”

Anche se la serie, attualmente alla sua dodicesima stagione, tratta abitualmente di argomenti inquietanti, Rodriguez aggiunge che questo episodio lo ha sorpreso. “L’episodio è il più raccapricciante che io abbia visto nel tempo passato in questo show. Fa stringere i denti. Lo guarderete e farete smorfie con ogni parte del vostro corpo.”

Avendo fatto da guest star in un certo numero di serie (ad esempio nella scorsa stagione di Empire), Rodriguez conosce un paio di trucchi sull’essere un attore che arriva per lavorare con un cast già formato in uno show. “La migliore cosa che puoi sempre fare è prepararti all’idea che il lavoro non è un posto di blocco, ma puoi direttamente entrare e iniziare a metterti a tuo agio con gli altri. E questo rende solo la scena più forte. Quando prendi un veterano dello schermo e qualcuno che ha lavorato così bene e per così tanto tempo come Tatum ha fatto per tutti questi anni, tutto ciò accade davvero facilmente. Non vedo l’ora.”

La O’Neal ha vinto un Oscar all’età di dieci anni per il suo ruolo al fianco del padre, Ryan O’Neal, in Paper Moon – Luna di carta ed ha anche partecipato ad altri film, come Che botte se incontri gli “Orsi” e Little Darlings. In televisione, l’attrice è apparsa in Rescue Me e ha fatto da guest star in serie del calibro di Sex and the City e Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Prima di approdare in Criminal Minds, i ruoli televisivi di Rodriguez comprendevano un posto fisso in CSI: Miami, così come ruoli ricorrenti in Jane the Virgin, The Night Shift e Ugly Betty. Sul grande schermo, l’attore è apparso in Magic Mike e nel suo sequel, e parteciperà al prossimo adattamento sul grande schermo della serie televisiva CHiPs.

Birthday wishes

A/N Hello lovely humans! The Alvez family, Luke, Penelope, Luna, Roxy and Sergio, are back! Honestly I have a bunch of little cousins and have worked with many children so much of my inspiration comes from witnessing their imagination, so I think there’ll be a Luna series with oneshots/drabbles about this little girl’s adventures with her parents, that being said I’m sure someday I’ll come up with an idea for when Luna was a baby or something so the timeline will be crazy. Enjoy! (Also I finished writing/queuing this at almost 3am so probably more typos than usual)

It was Saturday and in an unexpected turn of events, Penelope had been called to work but only for a couple hours, in the meantime Luke stayed home with Luna and they both attempted to bathe Roxy, the result of that was all three of them wet as Roxy escaped from them and ran around the house, Sergio looked at them from a safe distance not wanting to get involved in the mess, Luke was convinced their cat was judging him.

After they finally succeeded in bathing Roxy, Luke made lunch for all of them and Penelope arrived to see her family sitting in the living room eating sandwiches and drinking lemonade they had made using their own lemons from the tree in their backyard.

“Mommy, you’re home!” Luna quickly ran to her mom and she received her with open arms.

“I am, baby, how was your morning? Did you guys have a good time?” Penelope lifted Luna in her arms and kissed her cheek.

“It was great, we bathed Roxy and we played in the garden” She replied with a big smile on her face as Penelope walked to couch and sat in it, sitting Luna in her lap.

“I’m happy to hear that, now finish your lunch, Lu” Luke offered her a glass of lemonade, she had texted earlier letting him know that she had lunch during her work meeting.

“Hello babe, how was work? Was there a problem?” Luke questioned slightly worried as to why she was called on a Saturday.

Penelope shook her head “It was just an impromptu meeting we needed to have with one of the big bosses because he was in town, they reassured us it was a one time occasion and I hope they’re not lying” She sipped on her lemonade “Wow, you guys, the lemonade is delicious”

“There’s more in the fridge if you want, mommy” Luna offered as she hurried to eat her lunch.

“Slow down there, Luna” Luke asked her and though the little girl slowed down, she still seemed anxious to finish her sandwich.

“What’s got you in a hurry, miss?” Penelope asked as she stole a frie from Luke’s plate.

“I want to tell you something” Penelope looked at her husband with narrowed eyes to what he shrugged his shoulders, not knowing what their daughter was talking about.

“I’m done! Can I show you now?” She pleaded with big eyes.

“Go and brush your teeth and then you can show us” Luna nodded and hopped through the hallway with Roxy following closely behind, the two were inseparable since Luna had been born.

Penelope turned to see Luke with wide eyes and a smirk “What do you think it’s going on that little mind of hers?”

“I don’t know but I’m scared” He finally leaned closer to her and pecked her lips.

She sighed “I just hope she hasn’t changed her mind about her birthday party, after begging us to throw a Roxy themed party I would hate to not use all the stuff we already got”

“You insisted on printing a million stickers with Roxy’s face” Luke joked and threw his arm around her.

“I can’t believe she’s turning five already! I’m so emotional” Penelope confessed to him and he kissed her temple.

Luke sighed “I know, I can’t believe how big she is” As if on cue Luna and Roxy came back and to both, she looked five feet tall.

“I talked to my friend Kelly and she told me about the Birthday fairy” Both of her parents looked confused but not that shocked, sometimes Luna and her friends came up with the funniest ideas.

“What did she say about the Birthday fairy?” Penelope signaled her to come closer to them and then they noticed Luna was holding something, Luke placed his almost five year old on his lap.

“That you can ask for a birthday wish, it’s like Santa” Luke was starting to get nervous as to what she was gonna ask, mostly because he knew he would do everything and anything to get it for her.

“Oh, and what’s that you got here?” He asked Luna and she showed a piece of paper folded in half.

“I made a letter like I do for Santa” She opened it and gave it to him, there were random letters, a drawing and her name because she had learned to write it recently.

Penelope tried to guess what her daughter asked for but failed to decipher her letter “Can you read it for us, baby?”

“Dear Birthday fairy, I hope you are doing okay, I’m turning five next month” She looked hesitantly to her parents as if asking if she had that part correct.

“Go on, princess” Luke winked and Penelope took another sip of her lemonade and listened to her daughter.

“And I would like a baby brother” Her mom almost choked on her drink and her dad’s eyes shot open but laughed soundly “Mommy, are you ok?”

“Yes, Lu, I’m fine” Before her parents knew what to say she continued “reading”

“I love all my cousins so much but I really like to play with Michael but he’s not my brother, he is Henry’s little brother and I want one too so I can play all the time with him, thank you very much, Luna Grace Alvez” She finished and Luke had a huge grin on his face while Penelope looked terrified.

Luke decided to have the conversation seeing his wife was still figuring out what to say “Lune, sweetheart, baby brothers take more than a month to arrive” Luna scrunched her nose and looked exactly like her mom whenever she did that.

“It’s ok, I can wait two months, you can help me mark down the days like we do for my birthday and Christmas” When she finished, she yawned as she was used to take an afternoon nap and that’s when Penelope saw her way out of the subject.

“Baby, it’s time to take a nap, come on” Luna didn’t fight her mom and quickly linked her arms around her daddy’s neck so he could carry her to her bedroom.

A good twenty minutes later Luke returned to find Penelope sitting in the same exact spot with the same worried look on her face.

“I really wasn’t expecting that” She confessed as she removed her glasses and leaned her head on the couch.

“I was surprised for a second but kind of saw it coming” Penelope glared at him with suspicion in her eyes.

“Did you put her up to this, Alvez?” He laughed and shook his head.

“No, I mean I didn’t expect it today but all of her cousins have siblings, I thought the idea would appear in her head sooner or later” She massaged her temples “Wow, is it that bad to have my children?” Once again Penelope glared at him and he swore she would throw him something “I’m kidding, I’m honestly kidding, what do you think?”

“I don’t know, I always pictured her as an only child, us as a party of five, dad, mom, daughter of our dreams, dog child, cat child” She extended her hand so Luke would sit beside her.

“Ok, then we’ll talk to her about it, we’ll find a way” As ever Luke was supportive of her and Penelope felt both thankful but also uncertain, he had a say in the decisions of their family as well.

“What do you want?” She looked at him and saw a hint of worry in his eyes “Come on, babe, be honest”

“Well I wouldn’t mind becoming a party of six but I wouldn’t even think about it if it’s something you don’t truly want” He shot her a smile, Penelope placed a hand on his cheek and he leaned into her touch “I mean it, Pen”

Penelope sighed “The truth is I’m scared, I’m just getting the hang of being a mom of one, and she’s almost five” Her eyebrows were raised and her eyes were wide open.

“Babe, it’s about learning, I don’t know how to be a dad of two either, I mean, remember how much we called JJ, Matt and Derek because we had no idea of what we were doing? And now, look at us, she’s turning into a wonderful tiny human who cares for people and animals and insects and plants, you should’ve seen her talking to the lemon tree about how we were taking the lemons so he could grow more” Luke recalled the moment and held Penelope’s hand, and Penelope thought that her daughter would make an amazing big sister.

“She cares for non living objects as well, the other day you were in Phoenix, she accidently stepped on one of my pens and cried because she had broke it” Luna’s ability to care for others was always something that amazed everyone who knew her and it made both of them really proud.

“So are you gonna think about it?” Luke asked wishing she’d say yes.

“I don’t think I have to think about it” She saw his face fell and explained herself “I mean, you’re right, I remember how scared I felt when our sweet Luna was born, and I still get scared, I mean she keeps growing up and the next thing we know we’ll be parents to a teenager and as sweet as she can be, she’s also stubborn and determined, just imagine…” Luke cut her off as he looked pale now.

“Please, don’t go there, she’s my sweet little girl who asks permission to pick flowers not to go on dates or parties and I’d like to think that’s the way it will always be” She smiled seeing him so reluctant about thinking what the future would look like in another ten years.

“Ok but if I agree can we already start talking about names? I love talking about baby names” She wondered with excitement on her voice.

“I’d rather go straight into baby making” He suggested as he eyed her in a very suggestive way.

“Hmmm, you always have the best ideas, after all Luna’s nap just started” She smiled and let him lead both of them to their bedroom.

Earth Day Surprises

A/N So here I am bringing another Luna oneshot inspired by Earth Day and Kirsten’s Pie Chart and well, I usually get ideas for fics on dates like this and never write them but today I had the time so yeah.

This could work as part two of Birthday wishes BUT could also be read as one installment. Uhm, btw, I might also have an idea for how Luna’s birth went down so that’s why there’s a nod to that story at the end, would you like to read it?

It was a Wednesday morning and the smell of pancakes invaded the Alvez home, it was a rare occasion where they could be together during the morning on a weekday but then again these were rare times, Penelope shook her head trying not to think about what was going on and calling her daughter who was getting dressed in her bedroom.

“Baby, breakfast is ready” Penelope called for her while pouring herself a cup of coffee and sitting on the stool waiting for her.

It took five year old Luna a good ten minutes till she appeared in the kitchen wearing denim overalls, a hat and gardening boots, she had asked her mom to braid her hair first thing in the morning before she even brushed her teeth and Penelope happily agreed to do so, she looked adorable in the outfit and carrying Sergio in her arms.

“It’s Earth Day, mommy! I put a sticker on my calendar so I wouldn’t forget!” She announced with a big smile on her face and the cat jumped to go and eat from his bowl.

“It is indeed, I’m happy you’re excited” Penelope mirrored the smile on her daughter’s face, ever since she knew she was going to be a mom she wished to raise her to be earth-friendly, Luke had jumped on board with the idea and they had done a good job so far.

“I want to see if my seeds are finally good to pot them” She exclaimed happy while she climbed on the stool beside her mom “And I want to water all my plants and I want to play in the garden, I also want to pick flowers and see if any more lemons have grown and see if the butterfly has left the cocoon, OH, I WANT TO PLAY FOSSILS” Luna was overly excited about the day ahead.

“Ok, my little explorer, but to do all those things you need energy, now eat your pancakes” She pushed the plate that was Luna’s towards her and she immediately dug in, it took a moment for Roxy to stood on the counter hoping they’d share their food, which made Luna realize someone was missing.

As she looked around she confirmed Luke was nowhere in sight and with a furrowed brow she asked “Where’s daddy?”

“He had to go to work but only for a few hours” Luna eyes shot up “He’s not going anywhere, I promise”

“He’s not supposed to leave the house” She informed her mom while she took a sip of her orange juice.

“Your aunt Emily really needed him to go besides he’s going to pick up food, we cannot starve and you need lots of veggies and fruits so you grow super strong”

“We should grow them in our yard!” Penelope had a knowing smile but remained silent “I need all the vitamins to be super strong so I can rescue animals, mommy” Recently Luna was determined to be a veterinarian and it made both of her parent’s happy to see her discovering what she wanted to be, maybe she would change her mind or maybe not but either way seeing her being so passionate about animals was endearing.

“Ah, yes, you will need vitamins but also you’ll need to go to college and for that you need to do today’s schoolwork” As the words left Penelope’s mouth, Luna’s face showed no interest.

“I did it yesterday! Today’s Earth Day” She now had a pout and stopped eating.

“Sorry to inform you, sweetheart but even today we do schoolwork, you’re learning to do sums, isn’t that exciting?” Penelope finished her pancakes and went to put her plate on the sink.

“It is not, I already know how to do that, two plus two equals four” Penelope smiled at her “Seven plus two equals nine” She tried to impress her mom.

“Good! You are doing great, baby, but you have to keep on practicing so you can do bigger sums”

“I know how to do that, I even know how to multiply, 13 times 379 equals 4927” Luna said with determination and a huge grin on her face seeing her mom was finally impressed, Penelope feigning surprise, she came closer to her daughter while she put on a surprised face.

“You, my little precious girl” She tapped Luna’s nose with her finger “Memorized that from Matilda, you and your daddy watch it all the time” Luna’s face fell as she made complaint noises “You have an amazing memory, I’ll give you that”

“Thirteen plus eight equals…” She quickly counted with her fingers “Twentyone”

“That’s right, I tell you, you keep practicing and you’ll get even better” The little girl sighed “Today your teacher wants to do a video call with you and your friends, that’s exciting” Luna’s face lit up and she finished her pancakes ready to start her day.

A few hours later, Luna had done her schoolwork with her mom working beside from her laptop, so whenever she needed help she could easily ask.

The five year old had a Zoom meeting with the rest of her classmates and teacher, it was a sweet sight for Penelope, she knew Luna missed going to school and seeing her friends, after all she took after her when it came to being social, she wasn’t that shy and reserved as her dad, Luna was always trying to be friends with other kids and told anyone who would listen stories about her life, whether it was about that time they visited her daddy’s family in New York or the new bird’s nest that was in her backyard, she had a way getting into conversations with anyone about anything.

A little before lunch, they all heard Luke’s truck pulling up on the driveway, Roxy immediately started barking and Luna ran to the window followed by Sergio who watched curiously outside.

“Daddy’s here” Luna wanted to open the door but her parents always told her she shouldn’t do that so she waited anxiously for her dad to come through the door but after a few minutes there was no sight of him.

“Come on, Lu, let’s go out back” She extended her hand and Luna happily took it as she jumped up and down wondering what was happening.

On the sideway of their house, his dad truck was parked with two small trees on the back, Luke stood there waiting to see his girl’s reaction.

“Are we going to plant trees?” She asked with wide eyes to both of her parents.

“We are, we needed more additions to our tree family, what do you think?” Luke informed her and Luna started to jump up and down “Alright, I’m gonna go wash my hands and change my clothes and then I’ll come to take this to the garden, now go and choose with your mom a good place for them”

“YES!” Her parents laughed as she ran to the back of the garden, Roxy and Sergio following her to see what the fuss was all about

“Who would’ve thought our daughter loved Earth Day as much as she loves Christmas?” Penelope joked and Luke looked incredulously at her.

“With you as her mom, are you even surprised?” She raised her eyebrows “It’s not a bad thing, I actually love her being like this” Penelope watched as Luna grabbed her gloves and tried to put them up.

“Let me go and help her before she starts to dig in with her bare hands” She turned to Luke “Go and change, we have a long day ahead”

When Luke returned to the backyard his entire family was there, Luna and Penelope were already holding shovels and digging while Roxy was in a totally different spot digging a hole and Sergio watched all of them, unbothered as always.

“Daddy, we want them here” She looked up and beneath her hat, he could see her eyes shine with joy and some dirt on her cheeks.

“Wherever you want them, princess, now let me go and bring them” Luke proceeded to carry the small trees and the soil bags he had also bought.

They dug the holes and Luna was over the moon, seeing the new members of their garden, they had a picnic on their garden and then returned to work, once they planted the trees, she insisted on hugging them carefully so they would feel welcome in their new home.

“Ok, sweetheart, so this will be your tree” Penelope signaled the tree on the right “And many, many years from now we’ll come out here and we’ll see how much your tree has grown” She nodded excitedly unable to take the eyes off of it.

“And whose tree is this?” Luke wondered as he walked behind her wrapping his arms around her waist, she leaned back on his chest and sighed.

“Ours” He kissed her head and they continued the celebration.

“We have one more surprise for you, princess” At this statement Luna finally turned to pay attention to her parents.

“Daddy picked up some seeds so we can plant them and take care of them” Luna smiled big for a moment and then she looked sad “What’s wrong, Lu?” Penelope worried.

“Roxy chew my gardening tools the other week” As if Roxy knew exactly what she meant her ears bent down and whimpered.

“Ah, you see, we remembered that, and that’s why we got you a new set of gardening tools” Luna looked as if she was about to cry of happiness, something she had done before, just like her mom.

“And they’re yellow, my favorite color” She exclaimed as she took them from mom.

Luke bent down and whispered in Penelope’s ear “Wasn’t her favorite color, purple?”

“Oh, newbie, that was last week” She teased him and he laughed at the nickname he could never live down, not even as husband and wife, she would forget it “Now, let’s get to it”

They explained to her that the seeds were for different vegetables, and that if they took good care of them, they would be eat the vegetables from their produce. Luna had a journal, she made drawings but had her mommy writing in it which vegetables they were trying to grow and what date it was so they wouldn’t forget.

“How come you never ask me to write in it, Lu?” Luke asked as he crossed his arms and Luna told her mom exactly what to write.

“Your handwriting isn’t that good, daddy, but it’s ok, we can practice together so we have nice handwriting like mommy’s” Penelope laughed soundly and kept writing careful not to mess it up so Luna would still trust her with the task “Thank you for making this a great day, I love Earth Day, I want all Earth Days to be like this”

“Oh, you just ask, baby, I will fill this with trees if that’s what you want” Luke confessed to which his little girl just laughed and reached her arms up to him.

Luke picked her up, he wished Luna would always want him to hold her “I love you, daddy” She kissed her cheek and yawned.

“También te amo, corazón” He kissed her hair and put her down so she could go with Penelope.

“I love you, mommy” She hugged Penelope and Penelope, felt tears coming to her eyes, not once she took for granted how lucky she was to be Luna’s mom.

“I love you too, baby, with all my heart and soul, now, it’s time for a bath”

After they had dinner, bathed Luna and put her to bed, they also took a shower and had some leftover cake they all had baked the other day, a little after Luke found himself leaning on the doorframe, looking at the backyard, he remembered how when they got the house it was empty, it was just a bunch of dirt but Penelope had been so excited to turn it into somewhere nice so they could have people over, a few years later and they envisioned their own family being there and now actually enjoying it with their daughter was incredible.

“Penny for your thoughts?” Penelope stood beside him with a cup of tea.

“Just admiring the garden” He placed an arm on her shoulders and brought her closer to him.

“It looks good, isn’t it? I always knew watching Yard Crashers would pay off” She joked and remembered how she would force Luke to watch it with her until he admitted he liked it too.

“The trees will look great once they grow a little bit more” He could picture both of them providing more shade.

“When I was little, my parents planted a tree and told me it was mine to take care of and to watch it grow and so I did” She swallowed “At one point all I had left of them was that tree, I tried to take it with me when I had to move out of the house but I obviously couldn’t but the new owners asked me about it and I told them the story so they kept it, and they told me that I could always go and visit it and it may sound silly but I did, I visited there, it was easier than going to the cemetery and I felt…” She trailed off as the tears came down “I don’t know, a connection to them, to my childhood, so that’s why I needed them to have their own tree”

Luke remained silent assimilating the story, she had never told him that before and he just took her in her arms and allowed her to cry, after a few minutes something clicked in his brain.

“Them?” He asked as he looked for her eyes, she was calmer.

“I’ve been having suspicions for a week and the other day I went to buy Tylenol for Lu, I bought a bunch of tests, they were all positive” The tears of sadness were now replaced by tears of happiness and relief, they’ve been trying ever since Luna had asked them for a baby brother, it had been almost ten months since, they went to doctors, they did tests and treatments.

“How far long do you think you are?” Luke was in shock and overwhelmed.

“I’m not sure, a month? Two? Maybe Santa Claus will make Luna’s wish come true instead of the birthday fairy” She cried and laughed at the same time, Luke locked his lips with hers, they’ve been looking forward to extending their family and the road hadn’t been an easy one but finally it was becoming a reality.

She melted in the kiss, feeling extremely happy to finally share the news with him, she wanted to tell him ever since she took the test a little before he arrived from Quantico, they were beginning another adventure and both were sure it was going to be absolutely amazing.

As they pulled apart their foreheads remained together “That’s why I asked for two trees, one for Lu and one for this little peanut” Penelope confessed and Luke grinned.

“Think about how excited Luna was for today, wait till we tell her she’s going to be a big sister” Luke couldn’t wait but he knew he had to wait for at least a few weeks.

“I know! She’ll have us counting down the days till the baby is here” She thought about her reaction and laughed.

Luke couldn’t keep his eyes off of her, after seeing her struggle so much with the treatments it was finally happening and he wanted to be there for her every second of it. His mind went back to the story of Luna’s birth and although now it was somehow funny, when it happened he was scared he might miss it but he wouldn’t let that happen again.
