𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: fluff, a vacation quickly mentioned because of the word count.

Maria and Carol don’t get married—it’s the ‘80s, and an interracial female marriage is still something that people cannot fathom. So, Maria and Carol don’t get married—under the law—but they spend their honeymoon like they are.

One morning during a period of Carol’s stay on Earth, she wakes her love up with the sweetest kisses. She’s much more energetic from having been alert already. Carol then encourages her to freshen up, and as a bouncing ball of energy, Carol who couldn’t wait to scoop Maria up in her arms in one swell swoop bridal style and flies the two up into the clouds.

The air blowing in her face and Maria’s arms locked around her neck are perfect distractions against her glitters of nervousness that worsen by the second.

Hovering among the clouds was like being among pink-golden cotton puffs, and being there looked like a painting; colored gold, pink, and pale violet. The morning sunlight bends around the clouds to stream as a multitude of rays and warming their skin.

It was marvelous. And then, Carol proposes with a ring.

Carol Danvers lives a grandiose life, loses her memory, gains superhuman abilities, and loves Maria more fearlessly than before. Here, in another world where no one finds them, Carol proposes; this place used to appear only in dreams until she finds it in the perfect hour of sunrise. This place, she opens to Maria, is where she always thought would be the perfect place to love someone....

Hettie’s Love Hearts Challenge

I have made a challenge. A Valentines Day challenge.

Rules are simple. There will be a bunch of dialogue prompts and love songs. You can choose any Marvel character to use in this challenge. Pick any of the things below and write a drabble/one-shot/series for this Valentines Day.

More Rules Below...

You can choose either a prompt, song or both of them.

You don’t have to follow me as this is for anyone and everyone. But I’d appreciate it!

There is, however, a limit of two prompts per writer (unless you’re doing a series, then you can have at least 4).

There is no limit of songs but there is a limit of 2 stories per character.

There can be smut and dark themes, just put a warning for them before you write the stories.

They can be either reader-insert or OC stories.

Ethnic, interracial, LGBTQ+ and polyamorous stories are welcome and encouraged.

Minimum of 500 words (unless there are drabbles - then that’s fine)

It must be an original work and not apart of an existing series.

No sexual situations with minors, no bodily functions and stuff like that.

Deadline is until the end of March.

Friends! I am so freaking excited about hosting my first writing challenge. I want to give a HUGE shout out to @animehearteyes @wastingmylifeonbritishtv @spicynudlesoup and other friends who helped give me ideas and helped bring this particular idea to life. I couldn't have done this without their help and support.

Secondly, I wouldn't even be having this writing challenge right now if it weren't for you. Thank you for being a follower of mine, supporting me, and putting up with my bs all the time. I am so grateful for every single one of you it's not funny. I hope you enjoy this challenge and participate if you'd like!

This is my first writing challenge so if there's anything I can do to make it better or any tips that someone may have for me - please share!!!

I probably have way too many prompts, but i couldn't help myself hehehe.

Rules:

Just a few things to discuss as far as expectations go.

Please choose a prompt from below and a character to go with it and let me know via my ask box which you choose! Only one person per prompt. (if you want a different character, send me an ask! let's chat about it.)

Tropes, AUs, etc. are all optional and are not limited to what I have listed below. I give you all full creative liberties to add whatever you feel like speaks to you the most.

Works written for this challenge must be able to be read as standalone fics.

Any reader insert is welcomed for this challenge (LGBTQ+, BIPOC, interracial, polyamorous relationships and more are welcomed and encouraged!). If you would like to use an OC, again, send me an ask and let's chat about it!

500 word minimum but no maximum! Please add a "read more" line after 100-200 words.

If you are writing smut you MUST be 18 years of age or older. Please have your age in your bio so I can verify this.

Deadline for fics to be completed by: December 1st (this is not a hard deadline and if you feel like you need more time, i'm happy to extend things for you.)

Hard no's for the fics: toilet stuff, bestiality, sexual situations including minors.

Dark fics are welcomed but most be tagged appropriately.

i think it’s funny how when white people who fit the beauty standard so much as GLANCE at each other in a show or movie not even talk or show any implications of being anything close to friends far less a romantic relationship people ship them. BUT WHEN THERES CLEAR EVIDENCE or just a bunch of content between either two poc or usaully a poc and a white counterpart it’s all of a sudden yeah no i can’t see them as romantic it’s a platonic relationship. EVEN if they say i love u. EVEN when they live with the fact that they’re giving up thier freedom for the other person and can possibly DIE by the hands of the other, even when they wear a kiss the cook apron. it cannot been seen as anything other than platonic. ESPECIALLY if thier a poc and are not cut with washboard abs or a thin frame. cause how could someone whose not white and tiny ever find love right ? marvel fans accept borderline incest over an interracial couple that doesn’t fit western beauty standard.

Bucky dating Sarah would be great. We never see a dark-skinned black woman with a white fave in movies. She seems interested, the flirtation was mutual. I don't know if Marvel has the balls to put an interracial couple on the screen, but it would be just as good.

Absolutely agree. I think she’s interested. I mean, Bucky was flashing that smile at her every chance he got. Haven’t seen him turn on the charm like that since CATFA. I hope we get more scenes with them. They’re cute together. I want Bucky to bring her flowers and ask if he can hold her hand. I want them to dance to Billie Holiday’s ‘The Very Thought of You’. I want Bucky to spin her around as they laugh until their faces hurt in the best kind of way. I want her to get all shy when he tells her she’s as pretty as picture and then asks if he can kiss her. When she tells him yes, I want him to kiss her hand first before cupping her face and pressing his lips to hers. I want Bucky to romance Sarah. She deserves it.

To all the posts going around about “Why does nobody talk about Phastos?” “The first gay kiss in a marvel movie happened and nobody is mentioning it”

I have an answer for you. Nobody is talking about it because it happened naturally. The marketing team did not make a big deal out of it, announcing for the 2848221 time that they’re introducing the “first” gay character in a Disney movie. They didn’t try to market to the “woke” culture or pander to the lgbt+.

Eternals has a main cast of majority poc, two women as leaders, 5 interracial relationships and a gay relationship. And none of that is used as a selling point. There wasn’t outraged journalism or woke journalism used to create hype for the movie.

It just happened, it was part of the story and viewers reacted the exact same way a normal person would react to the kiss- they saw it, acknowledged it and moved forward. It wasn’t a big deal because a gay kiss should not be a big deal, it should be something normal.

And when it’s put in a movie where insecure men won’t project themselves onto the male characters, or homophobic women won’t blame the movie for ruining their child’s view on a “normal” family, then to every other sane person who watched the film, this was normal.

Like we said before in one of our articles that the 1970s was the most chaotic decade for Marvel Comics but at the same time, it witnessed a creative explosion which was unique, diverse and even risky for that era

The only decade that was creatively more explosive than it was the decade that preceded it (when Stan Lee, Jack Kirby & Steve Ditko led the charge)

One of the unsung heroes of the 70s is Don McGregor and while he worked on titles such as Power-Man (Luke Cage), Morbius the Living Vampire, The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu; his MOST notable works happen to be Jungle Action featuring The Black Panther and Killraven

What makes Don McGregor’s Jungle Action run critically acclaimed? Well he believed in the character of Black Panther for starters and it was that belief that led to him changing the narrative of the comic itself. From being a storyline pushing Kipling’s “White Man’s Burden” for Africa; he decided to make this comic center around Black Panther and Wakanda’s narrative or POV

Much of the characters we see today on the silver-screen that are part of Wakanda-verse came as a result of McGregor’s Jungle Action run. If Erik Killmonger is your favorite then thank Don and Rich Buckler for creating it

Today’s generation might find it weird but Don is the one who made way for interracial kissing in comics. Yes, before him it wasn’t conceivable despite the fact that Marvel had led the industry by introducing an African superhero (Black Panther) as well as an African American superhero (The Falcon) in 60s. In case of Jungle Action, it was between Taku and Venomm

His run wouldn’t have garnered so much praise had it not been for the artists who worked with him to visualize his stories. Two most notable names: Rich Buckler and Billy Graham

Don’s approach towards Black Panther, Wakanda and its main characters was so well thought out that it won praise from all segments of comic book readership, the critics as well as peers. He won Bill Finger Award for Excellence in Comic Book Writing, his Panther’s Rage story is considered Marvel’s first graphic novel by critic Jason Sacks while the late Dwayne McDuffie went on to say:

“This overlooked and underrated classic is arguably the most tightly written multi-part superhero epic ever. ...It's damn-near flawless, every issue, every scene, a functional, necessary part of the whole. Okay, now go back and read any individual issue. You'll find seamlessly integrated words and pictures; clearly introduced characters and situations; a concise (sometimes even transparent) recap; beautifully developed character relationships; at least one cool new villain; a stunning action set piece to test our hero's skills and resolve; and a story that is always moving forward towards a definite and satisfying conclusion. That's what we should all be delivering, every single month. Don [McGregor] and company did it in only 17-story pages per issue.” - Dwayne McDuffie

In 1989, Don would team-up with legendary artist Gene Colan for Panther’s Quest and two years later he and Dwayne Turner would work on Black Panther limited series entitled: Panther’s Prey which would mark an end to McGregor’s run on the character. He would continue his work by writing for Morbius, Spider-Man and Blade till the late 90s

End Note

The real story always remains buried under facts. In case of Don, his story is about a white male taking the task of writing stories about ethnic characters at a time when race relations are sensitive to say the least. What we learn from his story is that as long as we have a better understanding about our surroundings and even our world which includes people from other backgrounds, coupled with the belief that they too deserve to be shown in a heroic light; will lead to a masterwork(s) whose influence would go far and wide

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby led the way by showing the world that anyone can be a hero irrespective of their cast, color or creed. They showed that there can be an advanced nation who’s not white but Don made Black Panther a favorite for African Americans, Whites, Hispanics, Asians...the world by giving it the depth it deserved thanks to antagonists that made him shine brighter in the world of comics
